  • Gansu Provincial Court Holds Illegal Trial of Cao Dong; Results Not Announced Pending Approval of "Higher Authorities"

    At 9 AM on December 22, 2006, in an affront to all kind and righteous people around the world and under the watchful eyes of the people, the CCP directed the Gansu Provincial Court to hold an illegal trial of Falun Gong practitioner Cao Dong from Beijing. Currently, his "sentence" has not been announced. It is said that the result is waiting the approval from the "higher authorities."

    The CCP never follows the law when it persecutes Falun Gong practitioners, whether it is a detention or so-called "holding a court session". On May 21, 2006, Mr. Cao Dong was arrested by State Security agents immediately after meeting with Mr. Edward McMillan-Scott, Vice President of the European Parliament, and exposing the truth of Falun Gong's brutal persecution by the CCP. He was first detained secretly in Beijing, where he experienced brutal brainwashing and high-pressure intimidation. The police deceived and tortured him for a confession. On September 4, he was transferred to the detention center belonging to the State Security Department of Gansu Province. They made up a so-called "arrest warrant" in order to cover up their violation of the law.

    Falun Gong practitioners in Gansu Province and Beijing, as well as other places, worked as a unified body, increased the intensity of sending righteous thoughts, clarified the truth to relevant people, appealed to kind-hearted people nationally and internationally to pay attention to this case and to rescue him, wrote articles to expose the CCP's plots, etc. All of these actions formed a very strong field of righteous thoughts and shocked the evil powerfully.

    Due to international attention, the CCP's courts did not hold the court session as a mere formality as before, but allowed Cao Dong and his defense lawyer and family members to make a defense in court.

    Mr. Ma Guangjun, Cao Dong's defense lawyer, clarified the truth of Falun Gong being persecuted by the CCP. Based on a lawyer's professional standard of justice and fairness, Mr. Ma defended Cao Dong and utilized facts to refute the four so-called "charges" against him. Those fabricated charges were full of holes, and they are as follows:
    1. illegally colluding with national and international anti-China forces;
    2. illegally giving an interview;
    3. illegally publishing news on the Minghui website;
    4. illegally collecting CDs and brochures about Falun Gong. The court tried to use these charges to give Cao Dong a heavy sentence.

    Mr. Cao Dong and his wife Yang Xiaojing, who came to Lanzhou from Beijng, also made speeches in his defense. Cao Dong's family expressed sincere thanks to their friends and to all kind-hearted people who helped them.

    It is said that the Central 610 Office is directly in charge of Cao Dong's case. The sentence has been reported to the upper authorities and is awaiting their approval. It is said that the process of approval requires about two months, which is another concrete display of the CCP's trampling on the law.

    Couple Sentenced to Ten Years; Ms. Shi Wei Paralyzed in Liaoning Women’s Prison

    Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Shi Wei and her husband Mr. Wang Chunbo from Lishifang Village, Tangjiafang Town, Anshan City, Liaoning Province were illegally arrested in early November 2004, and each was sentenced to ten years of imprisonment. Ms. Shi, 39, was brutally tortured at Liaoning Women’s Prison. The torture resulted in the paralysis of her entire body. Fearing repercussions of her grave injuries, she was sent home by prison authorities. Mr. Wang is still detained at Nanshan Prison in Jinzhou. It is said that his legs are partially lame from the torture he sustained.

    While this couple lived in destitution for several years to avoid persecution, the police of Lishifang Village harassed their parents. The police would lie in wait for them, follow them, and otherwise monitor them. They even watched when Mr. Wang Chunbo’s father went to get money from the bank. As a result of this kind of menacing interference, the elderly man became ill in anger and passed away due to the harassment. A month later, Ms. Shi Wei’s mother also died from illnesses caused by anxiety. Currently, Ms. Shi is paralyzed in bed, with a 17-year-old child at home and no source of income.

    Since Falun Gong began to suffer persecution in 1999, Mr. Wang Chunbo has been persecuted by all levels of personnel of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) for appealing in Beijing and clarifying the truth of Falun Gong. The entire family was forced into destitution to avoid persecution.

    At 1:00 p.m. on October 7, 2004, the police from Anshan City National Security Group and Tiexi District broke into their home, arrested the mother and daughter, ransacked the home, and seized a computer, printer, daily necessities, nearly 10,000 yuan in cash, and other personal belongings. They arrested Mr. Wang while he was on his way back home.

    Ms. Shi was taken to the Mingyueshan First Detention Center in Anshan City, and Mr. Wang was later arrested and taken to the 2nd Detention Center. They both held hunger strikes in protest against the CCP's persecution. After three days, Ms. Shi was force-fed while her four limbs were tied up. Two police officers arched her neck back with a towel, inserted a tube down her throat, and force-fed a corn flour paste to her. Ms. Shi vomited blood during the process, and was tortured in this way for two days. Mr. Wang suffered even more brutal persecution. During the force-feeding, the tube broke and stayed gouged inside him for a week.

    The couple was sentenced to ten years each. Mr. Wang was sent to Wafangdian Prison in Dalian and was later transferred to Nanshan Prison in Jinzhou.

    Six months later, Ms. Shi was taken to Liaoning Province Women’s Prison where she was forced to watch programs that slandered Falun Gong. When she refused to watch such Party propaganda and sought to explain the truth, she suffered physical torture and verbal assault. Ms. Shi was tied up with wire, while the guards whipped her with a leather belt and wires to coerce admissions of "transformation." When Falun Gong practitioners refused to comply, the prison authorities would pull off their pants, pull out their pubic hair, and berate them with lewd remarks.

    Ms. Shi Wei’s body became partially paralyzed due to the torture and forced hard labor. Because the prison delayed treatment for one month, her whole body became paralyzed and she could not use the toilet by herself. She was examined at major hospitals in Shenyang, where medical doctors stated that her cervical vertebrae had been dislocated. Ms. Shi could not control her hands, but was forced to sign the "Four Statements." The evildoers wrote the statement and compelled her to sign it before sending her home. At that time, she was very emaciated and frail. Her body was completely paralyzed from the neck down, rendering her unable to take care of herself.

    Mr. Wang is being detained at Nanshan Prison in Jinzhou, while Ms. Shi is paralyzed in bed without a source of income, much less a means to rehabilitate from her disability. Her family lies in ruins from untimely deaths and separation, all because of the persecution due to their strongly held belief in Falun Gong

    Anshan City of Liaoning Province is not a big place, but the persecution is quite severe. Since 1999, eleven Falun Gong practitioners have been killed by torture from CCP personnel. Zhou Huisheng, Wang Guoyue, Sun Yuhua, Zhang Li, and Fang Lihong were all beaten to death; Fang Decheng fell to his death from a building; Kou Xiaoping died from force-feeding; Yuan Zhongyu was hung; Zhang Xiaomin suffered a mental collapse and fell to her death from the sixth floor. Mr. Sun Youlin was the husband of practitioner Wu Yuqin. One day he was delivering clothes to his wife in detention when an argument took place between him and Zhang Chengguo, the chief of the political security unit of Qianshan District Police Department . Afterwards, Zhang Chengguo ordered police to beat Mr. Sun to death in broad daylight.

    The Persecution of Ms. He Tengxiu, 61, by CCP Agents in Xinjin County, Sichuan Province

    Ms. He Tengxiu, 61 years old, lives in Longyan Village, Denshuang Township in Xinjin County. She began to study Falun Gong in 1997. Like other practitioners, she did everything according to "Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance" and experienced great physical and mental benefits. Her old illnesses of many years"breast and nasal cancer, thyroid disease, heart problem and others"all disappeared in a short time without medication.

    However, starting on July 20, 1999, Jiang Zemin used agents from the CCP to persecute Falun Gong, and Ms. He Tengxiu has been subjected to persecution.

    Ms. He went to Beijing on March 16, 2000, to appeal for justice for Falun Gong. She was arrested at Tiananmen Square and detained at the Chengdu City Police Department Liaison Office in Beijing, where police officers punched and kicked her. Her money, 1,201 yuan, was taken away. On March 17, 2000 she was sent back to Xinjin and illegally detained for 15 days. Then she was incarcerated at a county detention center for 30 days and released after paying 10,000 yuan. The day after she return home, she was deceived into appearing at Baoshan Village to undergo brainwashing for seven days. On June 29, 2000, the police from Wujin Township arrested her and another 17 practitioners while they were doing the Falun Gong exercises. They were handcuffed to the concrete floor at the township police station and then exposed to the scorching sun for eight hours. No food or water was provided, and they were not permitted to use the toilet. After this physical abuse they transferred her to a 40-day stay at a detention center.

    On December 27, 2000, Ms. He went to Beijing a second time. She was arrested, detained in Yanqing County in Beijing for one night, and was released the next day. After her release, she returned to Tiananmen Square again. She unfurled banners reading, "Falun Dafa is good! Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance is good!" and shouted, "Falun Dafa is good! Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance is good!" The police beat her and convinced her to stay in a hotel for 100 yuan, but the hotel kicked her out immediately after the police left. She ended up staying on the street that night. The third day she went back to Tiananmen to open up the banner and was brutally beaten by Beijing police. She was pushed into a bus and taken to a police station nearby, and then to Menwango.

    On the way to Menwango, she opened the banners through the window. When another practitioner opened another banner, the police found out and started beating the other practitioner. Ms. He tried to stop the police, but she was also beaten. She was forced to take off her coat and other clothing at the Menwango Police Station, leaving her in her underwear. It was a cold winter in northern China. Following the 15-day illegal detention at Menwango, Ms. He was dropped off at Pingguoyan. Her last 200 yuan were taken from her, and she ended up eating snow to stay alive.

    In 2001 she went to Yanglai Township in Qionglai City to hand out Falun Gong materials. She was arrested when someone reported her activities to the police and detained at the Qionglai Police Station for 30 days. Wujin Township Police Station deputy head Zhang Xiaolan came and picked her up. She was detained at the Wujin Township Police Station for another 30 days.

    That same year, four days before the Chinese New Year, police officer Kong Guelin and eight other officers broke into Ms. He’s home, entering through the window. They forced her to get in a car. Her clothing was torn and one of her shoes was lost during the scuffle. She arrived at the Wujin Township Police Station at 10:00 p.m. By then, six practitioners were already there. She was spent the first night barefoot on the concrete floor and had no food on New Year's Day.

    After being detained for a month, Ms. He and the other two practitioners were sent to the Henshuang Township brainwashing center. She was eventually detained for another eight months because she insisted on the practice and did not give up her belief.

    On July 4, 2003, Ms. He distributed truth flyers in Taiping Township and was arrested after someone reported her. She was brutally beaten by police officer Zhang Shuiyuan from the Taiping Police Station. She attempted to stop them from verbally abusing Falun Gong and Master. This led to her being handcuffed to a tree. She was forbidden to sleep. Later on she was handcuffed between two motorcycles. Police officers said, "We want to test your talent. In the past, you could open the handcuffs without the key. Now we have locked you to motorcycles; see if you can unlock them or drag the motorcycles with you." She was detained for 17 days.

    On October 14, 2003, the police deceived her into going to the Justice Bureau, where they arrested her again. Detained for 45 days, she was sentenced to three years in prison. She served the term at Chuanxi Prison beginning on November 14, 2003, and suffered more persecution.

    Paddy Rice Expert Mr. Yu Liangbin, 68, from Heilongjiang Province Arrested

    68-year-old Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Yu Liangbin is a renowned paddy rice expert at the Suihua Branch, Heilongjiang Province Academy of Agricultural Sciences. He was illegally arrested in October 2006 during another round of persecution of Falun Gong practitioners by agents of the Communist regime. He is currently being held at the Suihua Detention Center, where he suffers in miserable conditions.

    610 Office Agents Arrested Yu Liangbin

    Female agent Wang Shubo and Li Jianfei from Beilin District "610 Office" in Suihua City led seven police officers to break into Yu Liangbin’s home during the afternoon of October 19, 2006 while Yu Liangbin was at work. Two police officers pinned Yu Liangbin’s wife, who is in her 70s, on the couch so she could not move while the police ransacked the home and took computers and other valuables. They then managed to arrest Yu Liangbin.

    Yu Liangbin’s wife was terrified during the break-in. She now trembles when she sees strangers and lives in constant fear and worry for her husband's safety. One day she became disoriented and fell down, hurting her face and knocking out one of her teeth.

    A New Life

    Back in 1997, Mr. Yu Liangbin had suffered from severe stomach pain. He would break into sweat from the pain and have difficulty swallowing. He experienced stomach bleeding and was diagnosed with stomach cancer at the Hospital Affiliated with Harbin Medical University. His superiors had planned to engage the best doctors to operate on him; nevertheless, Mr. Yu’s mood was extremely depressed, and he despaired. One morning before the surgery, Yu Liangbin took a stroll and saw a group of people practicing Falun Gong. He stood there and watched. A practitioner approached him and introduced Falun Gong to him. After some thinking, Yu Liangbin decided to forgo the surgery and practice Falun Gong instead. The cancer disappeared in the following several months of Falun Gong practice, and he completely recovered. Falun Gong cured him and also saved his employers a tremendous amount of medical expenses. His white hair turned black again, and he became increasingly energetic as he continued to practice Falun Gong.

    The hospital had handed Yu Liangbin a death sentence, but Falun Gong gave him a healthy body and a new life. He worked tirelessly in his agricultural profession and devoted himself to rice harvest research.

    Numerous Major Scientific Achievements Throughout Life

    Yu Liangbin had experienced the wonders of Falun Gong. He conducted himself according to Truth, Compassion and Forbearance and became a good person.

    He worked very hard while taking fame and money lightly, making tremendous contributions in the field of rice research. With support from Heilongjiang Province's Academy of Agricultural Sciences, he conducted a series of studies on increasing the per-acre rice yield. He developed the model for "Method of Super-high Yield Cultivation Based on Single Rice Plant Transplantation Per Hill in Cold Regions." He conducted experiments in Jiangxi Province, Liaoning Province, Jilin Province and other places. The result of his research showed an average savings of 60 kg of seeds per acre with an increase of 2,000 kg of rice yield per acre, amounting to an increased monetary value of 2,400 yuan per acre.

    Mr. Jiang Chunbin Still Being Tortured in Lanzhou City Prison in Gansu Province

    Note: The following is a shortened version of a longer and more detailed article that appeared on the minghui.ca website (Chinese version of Clearwisdom.net).

    Mr. Jiang Chunbin

    Jiang Chunbin, male, 35 years old, is a villager of Xiejiazui Village, Dingyuan Township, Yuzhong County, Lanzhou City, Gansu Province. In 2001, he was arrested and detained for half a month because he appealed for Falun Gong during the Chinese New Year period. After being released, Jiang Chunbin had to leave his home to avoid further harassment and persecution.

    On February 9, 2002, Jiang Chunbin was abducted and detained in Pingguoyuan Detention Center. At the detention center, he was tortured until he became emaciated. He was sent to a forced labor camp hospital and stayed there for over two months. In April 2002, he was transferred back to the Pingguoyuan Detention Center and locked up in a solitary cell with both hands cuffed and both feet shackled for over 5 months. Jiang Chunbin was tortured to the verge of death. Before the Chinese New Year in 2003, the Pingguoyuan Detention Center sent him again to the forced labor camp hospital. After a month, Lanzhou City Police, the 610 Office, and the CCP Political and Legal Committee put him on a secret trial at Chengguan District Court and sentenced him to 9 years of imprisonment. Jiang Chunbin was then sent to Dingxi Prison. During his secret trial, his family was not notified. When his family appealed the sentence, their appeal statement and related documents were intercepted and never reviewed by anyone in the Lanzhou City courts.

    In early September 2004, Practitioner Bi Wenming from Longxi was tortured to death in Dingxi Prison. Other practitioners went on a hunger strike when they heard this horrifying message. On December 14, 2005, personnel from Dingxi Prison transferred Jiang Chunbin to the Lanzhou City Prison and detained him in the 5th ward.

    Jiang Chunbin's parents were allowed to visit him the first time on the afternoon of October 17, 2005. Jiang was extremely frail and could not stand by himself. Before he finished what he wanted to say to his parents, he was taken out of the visitation room. On November 9, his parents went to visit him again. Jiang was still on a hunger strike and was even weaker and more emaciated than the last time they visited him.
