  • Mr. Zhang Zhong, 35, Died in Harbin City Police Hospital in Heilongjiang Province

Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhang Zhong, 35, lived in Hongguang Village, Taiping Town, Bayan County, Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province. He was an employee of the Lamadian Chemicals Company, Daqing City. He died on October 16, 2006, in Harbin City Police Hospital.

Mr. Zhang Zhong's wife is also an Falun Gong practitioner, and is currently detained in the Heilongjiang Province Women's Labor Camp (formerly Harbin City Drug Rehabilitation Center).

    Mr. Zhang Zhong

After the tapping into cable TV in Changchun City was successfully done in 2002 by practitioners in Changchun, Mr. Zhang Zhong was arrested in April 2002 and sentenced to ten years in prison. He was detained in Daqing City Prison until July 2002, where he went through inhuman tortures. His health was ravaged, as he experienced problems with all of his major internalorgans, experienced muscular atrophy all over the body, partial paralysis, difficulty breathing, and lapsing into unconsciousness for long periods of time. His blood pressure was 40-50 mm, and he was as thin as a skeleton. The prison released him for medical treatment when they saw that he was dying.

Helped by fellow practitioners, Mr. Zhang Zhong continued to practice Falun Gong. His dying body recovered in only one month. In order to avoid being arrested again, he was forced to leave home to live out of town.

On August 10, 2006, Mr. Zhang Zhong went to visit friends in Honglang Garden Community in Harbin City, and was arrested by the police and was detained in Nangang District Police Department, where he was cruelly tortured.

After more than ten days, Mr. Zhang Zhong was transferred to the Harbin City Police Hospital. His friends went to visit him at the end of September, but they were not allowed to see him. Guards said that Mr. Zhang was in fine health and asked his friends for his family's phone numbers.

Mr. Zhang Zhong was closely watched by a prisoner in the hospital, but if he was not sick, why did they keep him in the hospital?

At around 9 a.m. on October 16, 2006, the hospital asked Daqing City Prison to notify Mr. Zhang Zhong's parents that he died. His parents arrived at the hospital at 3 p.m. on the same day, but the hospital did not issue a death certificate or notice and refused to let the family see his body. Ten days after his death, his family was still denied the right to see his body.

Ms. Wang Bo On Hunger Strike, Her Father Critically Ill in Detention Center

    Background article:

Stop the CCP from Again Persecuting Falun Gong Practitioner Wang Bo and Her Family
    /emh/articles/2006/8/13/76792.html

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wang Bo and her family, from Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province, were compelled to choose exile to avoid further persecution after they exposed the persecution they suffered at the hands of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Wang Bo and her parents Wang Xinzhong and Liu Shuqin were then secretly arrested on the evening of July 27, 2006 at their temporary residence in Dalian City. Wang Bo and her mother Liu Shuqin are currently being held at the 2nd Detention Center in Shijiazhuang City, and Wang Bo's father Wang Xinzhong is being held at Zhao County Detention Center in Shijiazhuang City.

It was learned that Wang Bo began her second hunger strike on October 19, 2006 and demanded her unconditional release. Wang Bo and her mother Liu Shuqin went on a hunger strike when they were first transferred to the detention center. Wang Bo's father Wang Xinzhong showed symptoms of critical illness in mid-September and was sent to the ER. His current condition is precarious as his blood pressure is 180 mmHg over 140 mmHg.

Li Xingshan, a group head for the National Security Group at the Shijiazhuang City Police Department handles Wang Bo and her family's case. This vicious individual beat Falun Gong practitioner Sun Xiangju until she lost consciousness. He took part in arresting practitioner Wang Xiaofeng who was living in exile. Wang Bo's family possessions, 35,000 yuan and clothing, are now in Li Xingshan's hands. It is said that when Wang Bo's family asked him for the money and clothes, he refused to return them. Another evildoer, surnamed Wang, head of the National Security Group of the Changan District Police Department, also took part in the illegal arrest procedures.

Wang Bo was persecuted through brainwashing and other methods only because of her belief in Falun Gong. She and her parents were arrested repeatedly and sent to labor camps. Her family was separated many times. Since the onset of the persecution, the family was reunited for the first time in August 2005. Soon they were compelled to leave the city and find temporary work. Wang Bo publicly exposed the Communist Party's persecution, and agents from the Hebei Province 610 Office went after her. Wang Bo was arrested again on July 27, 2006. She was taken from Dalian City back to Shijiazhuang City and detained under false charges. She went on a hunger strike to protest the detention.

Rape Victim Liu Jizhi Appeals to the High People's Court of Hebei Province

Recently practitioner Ms. Liu Jizhi appealed to the High People's Court of Hebei Province concerning the crimes of rape and indecency that policeman He Xuejian committed against two female Falun Gong practitioners. Liu Jizhi asked the courts to review the case and place criminal charges on the defendant according to proper legal procedures. She also sued Xing Guoping, a policeman from Dongchengfang Town Police Station, Wang Zhengjun, He Xuejian (under police custody), and Chai Yuqiao and Wang Huiqi from the General Administration Office of the Dongchengfang Town government for assisting in the crimes of torture and rape.

The persecution of Ms. Liu Jizhi began when Song Xiaobin, Vice Party Secretary of Dongchengfang Town, Zhuozhou City, Heibei Province, and Chai Yuqiao, Director of the General Administration Office of the Township Government extorted money from Falun Gong practitioners.

In early November 2006, the provincial 610 Office held a meeting in Zhuozhou City to arrange a new wave of persecution against Falun Gong practitioners. After the meeting, Song Xiaobin and Chai Yuqiao started their extortion plan and collected fines totaling 12,300 yuan for themselves. (Not long ago, they returned the money.) Around one o'clock in the afternoon of November 25, policeman He Xuejian from Dongchengfang Police Station of Zhuozhou City, raped two female Falun Gong practitioners during the process of trying to force practitioners to write down something against their beliefs.

On November 25, 2005, Falun Gong practitioner Liu Jizhi was beaten and raped by policeman He Xuejian from Dongchengfang Town Police Station. Her buttocks and her legs were severely injured from the vicious treatment.

The first trial concerning this case was conducted on May 15, 2006 at Baoding City Intermediate People's Court in Hebei Province. On May 19, 2006, the court decided that there was insufficient evidence and denied the case. The judge said, "There is no proof that defendant He Xuejian molested Liu Jizhi's breasts and genital area." On June 8, 2006, the High People's Court of Hebei Province rejected He Xuejian's appeal and upheld the original verdict.

Ms. Liu Jizhi said in the appeal paper, "The first and second trials of this case judged incorrectly that He Xuejian only conducted indecent behavior toward women. The crime he committed was violent and forceful rape." Practitioners Qu Wenting, Wang Helin, and housewife Jia Yanzhi all stood up to give testimony as to the mental state of the plaintiff after she was victimized, yet this testimony was never considered in the case.

Ms. Liu's appeal states: "The Intermediate People's Court of Baoding City in Hebei Province and the High People's Court of Hebei Province deprived the plaintiff of her right to attend the trial in the case of He Xuejian's crimes of rape and indecency toward women. This also is a severe violation of the law."

Plaintiff Liu Jizhi was illegally detained from March 7 to June 15, 2006 during the trials by the Baoding City Police and Zhuozhou City Police.

On May 10, 2006, the Intermediate People's Court of Baoding City sent a notice to the plaintiff informing her to "attend the trial" at nine o'clock on May 15, 2006. However, the plaintiff was deprived of her freedom so that she could not attend the first trial. Besides, there were only five days between the plaintiff receiving the notice and the first trial, and the plaintiff was not able to get in touch with her family members to find a lawyer or assign a family member to attend the trial instead of her. When the court delivered a judgment to the plaintiff on May 22, 2006, she was not informed that she had the right to appeal. Due to not being allowed to consult a lawyer, the plaintiff's rights were not protected. The court conducting the first trial violated Articles 154, 155, 157, 159, and 160 of the Criminal Law, and the process was illegal.

Similar problems also existed in the process of the second trial.

"There were only seventeen days between the first judgment made by the Intermediate People's Court of Baoding City on May 22, 2006 and the second judgment made by the High People's Court of Hebei Province on June 8, 2006. There were only 10 days for the plaintiff to appeal, and the second trial was accomplished within seven days. The actual time of the second judgment was issued on June 7, 2006. According to Article 187 of the Criminal Law "The court conducting the second trial shall form a joint court for the trial. The joint court does not have to conduct a trial if all facts are clear upon reading the files, questioning the defendant, hearing from the witnesses, lawyers, litigants etc. The court which is supposed to conduct the second trial shall conduct a court trial of those cases returned by the People's Procuratorates." In this case, clearly the issues are complicated and the evidence unclear; especially the critical evidence about whether the defendant raped the plaintiff was not clear. According to Article 187, the second-trial court must conduct a court trail, and even if it does not, it is required to consult the plaintiff. Thus, the procedures of the second trial of this case were illegal.

To sum up, the plaintiff believes that the procedures of the first and second trials were illegal and the plaintiff's rights to appeal were deprived. Thus, the plaintiff requests the court to re-conduct the trials and punish the rapist He Xuejian according to the law in order to uphold justice and protect citizens' rights."

Also, Liu Jizhi launched a lawsuit against policemen Xing Guoping, Wang Zhengjun, and He Xuejian (under police custody) from Dongchengfang Police Station in ZhuoZhou City, and Chai Yuqiao and Wang Huiqi from the General Administration Office of the Dongchengfang Town government.

The plaintiff, Ms. Liu Jizhi believes, "In order to obtain an affidavit, defendants Xing Guoping and He Xuejian beat the plaintiff illegally with torture implements. Their methods were vicious. The defendants Wang Zhengjun, Chai Yuqiao, and Wang Huiqi instructed and ordered He Xuejian to torture the plaintiff into giving an affidavit, which resulted in severe physical and mental damage to the plaintiff. The behavior of the above five people show sufficient evidence to prove the crime of torture in question. In the process of defendant He Xuejian committing the rape, defendants Wang Zheng Jun and Wang Huiqi, as policeman and government officials, did not stop it; rather, they instigated it and allowed the crime. This has brought strong negative effects to society. The behavior of defendants Wang Zhengjun and Wang Huiqi constitute assisting in the rape crime. Thus, according to Article 59 and 60, the case against the above mentioned defendants about their criminal responsibilities according to the law is presented to the legal departments to uphold justice and protect the plaintiff's rights."

Around 9 o'clock in the morning of September 30, 2006, Judge Lei Hongtao of the Appeals Department at Hebei Province High People's Court in Baoding City, and Judge Hu at the Appeals Office of Baoding City Intermediate People's Court, met the family members of Ms. Liu Jizhi at the Baoding City Intermediate People's Court in Hebei Province. The two judges listened closely for approximately two hours to the situations that Liu's family members reported and took notes carefully. Liu Jizhi's husband Wei Xiliang submitted the criminal appeal letter and lawsuit paper to them in person. Judge Lei Hongtao said that Falun Gong practitioners are also citizens of the country and their rights should be protected. He agreed that the case should be studied carefully and reported this to the relevant officials and departments. He said a reply should be available by the end of October.

At 5 o'clock the same afternoon, Wei Xiliang also submitted the legal documents to Zhuozhou City Police Department.

A Falun Gong Practitioner's Wife Tearfully Exposes the Persecution of Her Husband

I am the wife of a man who has been subjected to brutal torture by the CCP regime just because he practices Falun Gong. Here I am exposing the sad experience of my husband, Mr. Zhou Renyin, who was first tortured by the CCP because of his steadfast practice of Falun Gong and is now having to endure long-term imprisonment. I want to show the people of the world how the evil CCP violently persecutes kind Chinese people.

In 1998, my husband was introduced to the practice of Falun Gong because of his health problems. Since he started to practice Falun Gong, he has radiated power and vitality. I was happy for him. In 1999, Jiang Zemin and the CCP started to persecute Falun Gong for no justifiable reasons. My husband was repeatedly called into the local police station. The local police and the 610 Office all wanted him to give up the practice. He refused. Because he refused, he was taken to the brainwashing center by the 610 Office. At that time, they forced him to write the so-called Three Statements.

After he returned home, my husband's physical and emotional state worsened daily. We simply had to let him continue the practice of Falun Gong.

After he resumed the practice, his physical body again recovered and he was again in high spirits. Both of us deeply experienced the miraculous power of Falun Gong. My husband and I felt that the practice of Falun Gong not only allows one to be healthy physically, but also allows one to have an open mind and open heart, to have increased wisdom, and to upgrade one's morality. Thus, Falun Gong provides only benefits to the family and to society.

In order to allow more people to understand the truth, my husband put a poster reading "Falun Dafa is a righteous Fa" on a wall. Because of this, he was taken to prison by the local police. He was repeatedly beaten. The prison guards were ordered to kick and punch him and to humiliate him in many different ways. They forced him to drink water that was used to wash feet, and they also used their elbows to strike and beat him. His head had several big lumps due to the beatings. His entire body was covered with blood and wounds. Sometimes, in fear of my husband calling out, the guards used cotton quilts to cover his head. Several thugs beat him until he started to spit blood.

The warden also colluded with the guards to extort money from practitioners' family members. If no money was handed in, they then beat the practitioner until he or she passed out. To avoid the beatings, the person had to hand in 500 yuan. My husband was beaten until he passed out 35 times. He has become almost handicapped due to the beatings.

All of the beatings were ordered by the local 610 Office and the National Security Group. My husband was later sentenced to six years of imprisonment. At present, I do not know whether or not he is still alive.

As I write, I cannot help weeping. I sincerely hope that every person of conscience will stand up and speak out on behalf of the innocent practitioners who are being persecuted.

The Torture Experienced by Ms. Zhang Sufang from Huaiyang County, Henan Province

My name is Zhang Sufang. My home is located at 72 Xingzhong Street, Huaiyang County in Henan Province. I began practicing Falun Gong on January 3, 1999, according to the Chinese Lunar Calendar. Prior to my practice of Falun Gong, I suffered from gynecological diseases, chronic colitis, lung tuberculosis and other illnesses. After I started to practice Falun Gong, all of the diseases disappeared and my family also became much more harmonious.

After July 20, 1999, the evil persecution blotted out the sky and covered the earth. I went to Tiananmen Square in Beijing three separate times. The third time was on December 31, 2000. At about noon, I unfurled a banner that said "Falun Dafa is Good" by the flagpole of Tiananmen Square. I called out from the bottom of my heart, "Falun Dafa is good!" "The Fa rectifies the cosmos!" and "Return the good name of my Master!" I was immediately taken to the Police Department of Tiananmen Square and later to the Chaoyang District Detention Center, where I suffered from all types of torture.

When I was brought to the court, I refused to announce my name. The police officer pulled my clothes up and poured the dirty water from a spittoon on me from my neck down. For practicing the Falun Gong exercises, I was forced to stand against the wall for one day. When I protested the illegal detention through a hunger strike, I was forced to sit in a corner for two days and forbidden to go to the bathroom. When they asked me whether I wanted food, I refused to reply. The guards ordered four criminals to beat me and to rip off my clothes. Only my underclothes were left on. Then they punched and kicked me while wearing their leather shoes for more than three hours. My whole body was black and blue. I was spitting up blood, and I fell on the ground.

Subsequently, I was taken into another room where I was force-fed. My hands were wrapped at my back. In the same room, there were more than twenty practitioners and their hands were wrapped up in different ways: some had their hands wrapped at the front, some had their hands wrapped at the back, some had their hands wrapped in an archer's position, and some, with all their clothes removed, were made to lie on the floor facing up and fixed into a position with their arms and legs fully stretched out. They had their hands, legs, and mouths all taped up with wide adhesive tape. We were left in the cold for one day and one night (at a temperature below zero degrees centigrade). Afterwards, they took off my clothes and dragged me to the second floor where I was force-fed with pepper water.

There I saw two practitioners. One of them, because he refused to give his name, was tortured for three days. On the first day, he was dragged outside, his jacket was ripped off, and his hands were handcuffed behind his back onto an iron chair. He was forced to stand in the snow with bare feet. Then the guards punched and kicked his face. On the second day, they used the same methods to torture him again. In addition, they poured cold water into his clothes from his neck down. On the third day, they used the same torture method, but this time poured boiling water into his clothes from the neck down. Another practitioner was violently kicked in the crotch with leather shoes.

Later the guards dragged me to the Xiaohongmen Police Station, where they constantly prohibited me from sleeping. Afterwards, the Deputy Commissar of the Police Department of Huaiyang County, Ren Wei (male), forcibly took me to the Beijing Office of Zhoukou District, where I was held for five days.

When Ren Wei (male) forcibly took me back, he called my husband to deliver 10,000 yuan and threatened him that he would otherwise put me into a detention center. In the past several years, the National Security Group of Huaiyang County and the People's Livelihood Office have repeatedly gone to my home to extort 10,000 yuan from my elderly husband and often harassed, threatened, and made trouble for him. Since I had been held for an extended period of time, my husband was sick due to anger and fear, but he had no one to take care of him. He passed away on May 18, 2005.

On January 5, 2001, a group of people, including Chen Jiachang (male) put me into the Detention Center of Huaiyang County where I was held for about ten months. During this period of time, the torture methods that were used on me and my fellow practitioners was enough to make anyone boil with anger. One morning in May, at 4:00 a.m., when I was Sending Forth Righteous Thoughts, guard Wu Jinzhong (male) saw me. He reported me to Group Leader Wang Peidong (male). Wang Peidong immediately started to repeatedly hit my face, and then dragged me outside of the cell. He asked me, "Are you still going to practice?"

    I replied, "Yes."

Wang then slapped my face, yelling, "If you practice again, I will make you wear the large leg irons and have two people hold your arms and force you to run with the leg irons on."

Since I refused to say that I would not practice anymore, they made me run with the leg irons. When the flesh of my ankles was torn and bloody due to the grinding of the leg irons, it started to stick to the legs of my trousers. Group Leader Shi Zhongjie (male) then pointed a flat stick with two rows of nails on it at me and said, "

As long as you say one word that you will not practice, we will stop immediately and your leg irons will be taken off. Otherwise, you will die right here." My heart was firm, thinking, "I am not afraid of death." Later I was again forced to run with the leg irons on, until breakfast time, before they finally took me into the cell. Two people in the cell were having breakfast. Upon seeing my bloody legs, they vomited due to the shock. I was forced to wear the leg irons for nine days before the guards took them off.

One day in August, I was sending righteous thoughts with other practitioners. The Deputy Chief of the Detention Center, Zheng Xianjun (male), saw us and dragged all of us outside and forced us to wear leg irons. The eight of us were locked together to form a circle. We were locked up like this when we ate, slept or even when we went to use the bathroom, for about 20 days. When the leg irons were taken off, Zheng Xianjun asked us one by one, "Are you still going to practice?" I refused to say no.

Zheng then refused to take the leg irons off of me. The leg irons were not taken off until I passed out after going on a hunger strike. During this torture, the guards were still asking me, "Are you going to practice?" They claimed that the idea of my going on a hunger strike was the idea of practitioner Mr. Su Yujin. With me watching, they tied Mr. Su Yujin to a tree. Guard Wu Jinzhong (male) was the first to beat Mr. Su Yujin. After he stopped, Zheng Xianjun then slapped Mr. Su Yujin's face more than 100 times. Mr. Su Yujin passed out from the beatings.

I was on the hunger strike for 29 days. The prison physician Zhang Duoshu (male) force-fed me three times. The first force-feeding was carried out three days after I started the hunger strike. Zhang Duoshu pulled my hair to press on my face. During the second force-feeding, he pulled my hair and hit me with half a bowl of water in his hand. The third force-feeding happened on the fourteenth day after I started the hunger strike. On the fifteenth day of my hunger strike, a group of people including Zhang Duoshu carried me outside and tied me onto a long chair, facing up. They carried a bowl of cold water, in which they put in a small bag of soybean powder, and then tried to force-feed me. Zhang Duoshu stepped onto my hands while wearing leather shoes when he force-fed me. I passed out on the twenty-ninth day of the hunger strike. Between 9:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m., they told me to go home. Seven to eight people from the People's Livelihood Office, the Police Station, and the National Security Group carried me home. At that time, the me who used to weigh 187 pounds only weighed about 77 pounds. I had to rest for over 20 days before I could get up from my bed.

While Mr. Sun Changping Suffered Torture in Detention Center, His Family Was Treated Unjustly by CCP Authorities

Mr. Sun Changping and his mother were arrested on September 19, 2006, at their home by police officers from Lushuihe Town Police Station. The police officers intruded into Mr. Sun's home at lunchtime and began to search his home. When the police officers started to take Master Li's picture away, Mr. Sun tried to stop them and the police officers beat him until his nose and mouth were bleeding. Mr. Sun shouted, "Falun Dafa is good!" The police twisted Mr. Sun's arms behind his back and pushed their knees against his back in order to stop him from shouting. The pain almost caused Mr. Sun to lose consciousness. The policemen then handcuffed him and left him in this position during his entire detention in Lushuihe Town Police Station.

Mr. Sun was next taken to Fusong County Detention Center. The police officers gagged him because he shouted, "Falun Dafa is good." When he went on a hunger strike to protest the illegal detention and abuse, they tied Sun Changping onto the Death Bed and brutally force-fed him.

Mr. Sun's sister and her husband went to several government departments, including Fusong County Police Department, the National Security Department, the Political Security Section and the appellate office. They requested that the authorities release Mr. Sun and his mother. Mr. Sun's sister and brother-in-law were given the run-around for twenty-five days, which caused them to suffer tremendously, both mentally and financially. When they requested the release of their family members at Fusong County Police Department, Deputy Chief Qi Yanzhong threatened them, "You can go and appeal everywhere you like, it does not matter."

Chief Wang Yunwu said, "If you can "transform" them, I will release them."

Some officials from other related departments would leave or ignore the family as soon as they saw them.

Because she could not get any justice, Mr. Sun's sister wore a shirt printed with a message calling for the release of her family members. When police officer Zhang Aimin saw the shirt, he tried to take off Ms. Sun's shirt. Ms. Sun said loudly: "This is my shirt, why do you want to snatch my shirt?"

Zhang Aimin and others told her to go upstairs because they wanted to separate Ms. Sun from her husband. They lied and said that each person needed to be in a separate room in order to solve this problem. A kind-hearted person told them not to get separated because Zhang Aimin wanted to imprison them. Other police officers also tried to take away Ms. Sun's shirt. With the help of the same kind-hearted person, Ms. Sun and her husband were able to escape from

Three Falun Gong Practitioners in Chenxi County, Hunan Province Sentenced to Prison Terms

[Note: The following is a shortened version of a longer and more detailed article that appeared on the Minghui.org website (Chinese version of Clearwisdom.net).]

In Huangxikou, Chenxi County, Hunan Province, three female practitioners, Shi Shenglan, Mi Xiumei, and Xiang Juzhen, were arrested while distributing truth clarification materials. They were subsequently arrested and put in jail. Later they were sentenced to prison terms, three years, two years, and one year, respectively. Shi Shenglan's husband asked the judge at the Chenxi court and related political and judiciary departments to release his wife, but he was refused. Right now he has to go to the Huaihua court in order to appeal.
