  • The Deaths of Another 18 Falun Gong Practitioners as a Result of Persecution Confirmed in August 2006

Sources confirmed in August 2006 that another 18 Falun Gong practitioners in Mainland China died as a result of persecution. Ten of these practitioners were women, which accounts for 56% of the total deaths. Nine practitioners were above the age of 50, making up 50% of the total deaths. The youngest practitioner was 30-year-old Mr. Lei Ming from Changchun City, Jilin Province, while the oldest was 72-year-old Ms. Liu Baorong, an engineer at the Jiaozuo Coal Mine Machinery Factory.

The deaths took place in 11 different provinces and cities. Five of the practitioners lived in Jilin Province; two in Heilongjiang Province; two in Hebei Province; two in Hunan Province; and one each in Liaoning Province, Shandong Province, Sichuan Province, Beijing, Henan Province, Jiangsu Province, and Shanxi Province. Seven died in August 2006, and five from January to July 2006. According to statistics published on the Minghui website (Chinese version of Clearwisdom), the deaths of at least 110 Falun Gong practitioners were verified between January and August 2006.

In the past seven years of persecution of Falun Gong by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), 2,949 deaths resulting from persecution have been verified through civil channels by breaking through the CCP's information blockade.

    Persecuted for speaking the truth

    Falun Gong practitioner Yin Anbang

Mr. Yin Anbang, 38, taught at the Heilongjiang Province Party School. After Jiang Zemin and his followers began persecuting Falun Gong in 1999, Mr. Yin's superiors sent him away several times to be persecuted for persisting in his belief and for clarifying the truth about Falun Gong. He was taken away from work in February 2001 and sent to a drug rehabilitation center, where a brainwashing session was held for Falun Gong practitioners who worked for the province's subsidiary organizations. Mr. Yin was later brutally tortured at the Changlinzi Forced Labor Camp. After his release from the labor camp, Mr. Yin taught at a private school. He was reported in October 2005 when clarifying the truth to his students at the Yuandong Branch of Harbin University's College of Science and Technology. He was suspended for ten days and was later reported to the 610 Office. Officers from Daoli National Security Group arrested him at home on the evening of November 12, 2005. He was detained at the Daoli Police Department Detention Center. Personnel from the Daoli District Procuratorate and the court conspired to sentence him to four years in prison. He was held at Hulan Prison, where he was brutally tortured. He died on August 15, 2006.

Ms. Gu Yeming, 69, lived in Chaoyang District, Beijing. Ms. Gu began practicing Falun Gong in 1993 after she was diagnosed with terminal breast cancer. She quickly recovered through the practice. She said that other patients who underwent the same type of surgery had died, while she was fortunate to practice Falun Gong. The practice of Falun Gong not only gave her a healthy body, but also helped her become a better person, as she conducted herself according to the principles of Truth, Compassion, and Forbearance. Ms. Gu was very kind, helpful and well-liked. She went to Beijing many times to appeal after the persecution began on July 20, 1999. She firmly safeguarded Falun Gong. Officials from the CCP ransacked her home and sent her to a forced labor camp, where she was deprived of sleep, forced to do extensive labor and subjected to brainwashing. Ms. Gu suffered from a cerebral hemorrhage and could no longer speak coherently. She had difficulty walking and became non-responsive after she was taken home. She passed away on August 6, 2006.

Ms. Tian Ruiying, in her 50s, lived in Dajinge Township, Anqiu Town, Anqiu City, Shandong Province. Her son was married, and her daughter was schizophrenic. Ms. Tian lived a hard life before practicing Falun Gong because she had to take care of her daughter while combating illness herself. She regained health after she and her husband began practicing Falun Gong. Her son supported her after seeing the changes in her and her daughter's mental state also improved. The whole family benefited greatly from practicing Falun Gong. Their friends all knew that Falun Gong had brought happiness back to the family, and more and more people started to practice Falun Gong. Nearly 1,000 people from Ms. Tian Ruiying's village and the surrounding area were practicing Falun Gong before July 20, 1999.

After July 20, 1999, Ms. Tian's husband, 53-year-old Mr. Yu Shengquan, was sentenced to three years of forced labor for persisting in his belief in Truth, Compassion, Forbearance. He was released in early 2006. Ms. Tian also persisted in her belief and went to Beijing twice to clarify the truth about Falun Gong. The officials harassed, monitored, and threatened her. They ransacked her home and sent her to the Anqiu Town brainwashing session and to the Anqiu City Custody Center. Ms. Tian Ruiying passed away on August 20, 2006.

Mr. Guo Juting told his family members before he passed away, "You should remember Falun Dafa is good; Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good."

Mr. Guo Juting, 69, was a retired worker from Tianfu Town in Suining City, Sichuan Province. He was once afflicted with severe bronchitis, emphysema, lung hemorrhages, rheumatism, rheumatoid arthritis, gastroenteritis and other illnesses. Medical treatments did not help him. He was cured of all his illnesses within a month of practicing Falun Gong.

After the persecution began, Mr. Guo Juting went to the Tianfu Town government offices to clarify the truth about Falun Gong. Official Gan from the town police station whipped him with a belt. The police arrested him and took him to a forced labor camp, where he was subjected to brainwashing.

After leaving the forced labor camp on December 30, 2002, Mr. Guo continued to study Falun Gong books and do the exercises. He clarified the truth in the streets, at teashops and restaurants. He went to different towns and townships to spread the truth. He saved money to make truth-clarification materials in order to rescue people deceived by the CCP regime propaganda. The police ransacked Mr. Guo's home again on November 13, 2003, and arrested him, taking him to the Lingquansi Detention Center in Suining City.

Mr. Guo held a hunger strike to protest the persecution and was brutally force-fed and injected with toxic substances. Despite the abuse, Mr. Guo always remembered, "Falun Dafa is good." The guards continued to beat him. He was released on December 3, 2004 when he was on the brink of death.

Mr. Guo Juting died on January 24, 2005. He repeatedly said to his sons while lying in bed, "You should remember Falun Dafa is good; Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good." He closed his eyes and passed away after his sons promised, "We will certainly remember."

Lei Ming, 30, broadcast truth-clarification videos in Changchun; tortured to death

Mr. Lei Ming, 30 and single, lived in Baishan City, Jilin Province. Mr. Lei, Liu Chengjun and other practitioners worked together to broadcast Falun Gong videos in Changchun on March 5, 2002 to clarify the truth to the public deceived by slanderous CCP propaganda. They were arrested and Changchun City Intermediate Court officials sentenced Mr. Lei to 17 years in prison.

More than 5,000 Falun Gong practitioners were arrested in Changchun after Jiang Zemin issued a secret order to "kill without pardon." At least ten practitioners have been tortured to death, and most of the other incarcerated practitioners are in perilous circumstances.

Mr. Lei Ming was brutally tortured at the 1st Division of Changchun City Police Department and at Jilin Prison. The torture methods included the tiger bench, and electric shocks to the face, mouth, neck and anus. The police wrapped Mr. Lei's head in a plastic bag and nearly suffocated him. They put a metal barrel over his head and banged on it; they burned his neck with a red-hot screwdriver; they beat him, flicked his eyeballs, squeezed his testicles, and tied him onto a stretch bed for seven days. They also made him sit on a small stool from 4:50 a.m. until 7:30 p.m., which made him vomit blood. He was disabled and emaciated from the torture and could not take care of himself. He developed heart disease, tuberculosis and other conditions. He passed away on August 6, 2006.

Tortures in Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp: Mr. Wang Guoxiang Has a Stroke and Many Others Died

Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp in Changchun City, Jilin Province, is responsible for the torture of many practitioners. Recently, practitioner Mr. Wang Guoxiang had a stroke due to torture and is now unable to take care of himself. This past March staff at the forced labor camp carried out an "Attack the Fort" campaign to torture Falun Gong practitioners who remained firm in their belief. Mr. Wang Guoxiang was not allowed to sleep for 15 days and was forced to sit on a "sitting board," an instrument of torture that requires the victim to sit in a fixed position and is beaten if he/she moves at all.

Mr. Wang Guoxiang had a stroke after being tortured at the Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp and can no longer take care of himself.

Mr. Wang Guoxiang, 38, was arrested when distributing truth-clarification materials in Changbai County in the Baishan Region, Jilin Province. He was sentenced to two years of forced labor. When he was taken to Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp in April 2005, he was jailed in the 1st Group. Because he refused to be "transformed," he was transferred to the 2nd Group during the "Overrun" campaign, implemented to "transform" practitioners in May 2005. Guards Ma Yuntao and others repeatedly held "discussions" with him at night. They tortured him from nine or ten o'clock in the evening until two or three o'clock in the morning. They also assigned inmates as his personal cangues who monitored him around the clock. They would not let him go to the cafeteria.

Mr. Wang was transferred to the 4th Group in November 2005. He was monitored by inmates around the clock. He was forced to sit daily on a plastic stool in the dormitory room all by himself. He was not allowed to talk to anyone. Another round of "Attack the Fort" campaign to forcibly "transform" practitioners was carried out in December 2005. Mr. Wang was forced to sit on a cold marble floor day-in and day-out. A few days later, he appeared to have difficulty walking on the way to the restroom. Beginning on March 1, 2006, the guards at 4th Group tortured him again. He was handcuffed to the bed frame with his arms stretched out for three or four days. Afterwards, two inmates monitored him closely and did not allow him to sleep for over twenty days.

People Responsible for Torturing Mr. Wang Guoxiang Were the Head of the 4th Group Tao Qingxuan and Guard Chen Lihui

During these several "Attack the Fort" campaigns, the guards were heard shouting and verbally abusing the practitioners. The sound of electric batons and practitioners crying out in pain from the brutal torture could be heard from morning to evening. The guards beat practitioners into unconsciousness several times, put salt on their wounds, and poured freezing cold water over their bodies. They hung them up by their arms and legs so they could beat them. They beat them so severely that the practitioners were unable to eat any food. The guards also ordered inmates to torture practitioners. The Education Team called itself a "civilized team" and announced that they "never beat or tortured people," a total lie. Once newly arrested practitioners arrive, the inmates take them to the water room to be beaten. They also make the practitioners take a cold shower and then put them into a large room with a couple dozen people, lining up and sitting down. The inmates squeeze from either end. They squeeze the practitioners together so tightly they can't move. They close all the windows and do not allow the practitioners to take off their clothes. The practitioners sweat a lot and are required to stay still. Otherwise they will be beaten. Sometimes the guards take the practitioners to the guards' office where they beat them with rubber belts until they bleed, or beat them with electric batons until their flesh has burn marks. Four or five guards beat one practitioner in an effort to "transform" him/her. The managers of Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp once said, "We do not care whether the person is elderly, weak, or injured. As long as the practitioner is still alive, we will not release him. If he is about to die, we just put him outside our camp to let him die. The forced labor camp is not held responsible for these deaths."

Selected Information about Practitioners Tortured to Death at Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp

Practitioner Mr. Li Wanyun was tortured until he looked like a skeleton

Mr. Li Wanyun was born on September 8, 1962. He was very healthy and strong and worked as a warden at Xingye Prison in Changchun City, Jilin Province. He began to practice Falun Gong in October 1997. He earned many awards at work for his dedication and commitment to his job. In the spring of 2000, Mr. Li was arrested and sentenced to one year of forced labor for clarifying the truth. He was first imprisoned at Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp in Changchun City and later transferred to the infamous Fenjin Forced Labor Camp in Changchun City. The torture left him with festering wounds all over his body. He was not able to wear clothes. Mr. Li was released in November 2000. In 2002, he was sentenced to three years of forced labor again. He was brutally tortured by guards at Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp. He became extremely weak and developed osteomyelitis. He was given compassionate medical leave in June 2003 because of his critical health. Continued persecution by the evildoers of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and subsequent illness claimed his life on August 3, 2006.

Mr. Bai Xiaojun, 35, was a practitioner from Changchun City, Jilin Province. He was sentenced to one year of forced labor in July 2000 for going to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. In January 2002, after being imprisoned seven months beyond his term, he was taken to Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp for further illegal imprisonment. He was tortured to death on July 18, 2003.

Mr. Bai Xiaojun was tortured to death by Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp

Mr. Bai was illegally imprisoned in the 4th Group of Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp. Since early June 2003, he could not eat due to the brutal torture. He threw up everything he tried to eat. Only when he was in critical condition did the guards cook some noodles for him, but he was extremely skinny and weak by then, and he could no longer eat or drink water.

The 4th Group was dissolved on June 30, 2003, because a practitioner escaped. Mr. Bai was then imprisoned in the 1st Squadron of the 1st Group. When Mr. Bai was about to die on July 6, the guards from the 1st Group carried him out of the forced labor camp. He was never taken to a hospital for medical care, but the medical staff at the forced labor camp gave him some intravenous injections. Mr. Bai Xiaojun could not escape the evildoers' abusive yells.

Mr. Li Qiu, 41, a former employee of the Yongchun Post Office of the Changchun City Post Office, lived at Yongchun Town in a suburb of Changchun City. Mr. Li Qiu was arrested many times since 1999. On March 5, 2002, the Changchun City Nanguan District Court staged fake trials of arrested practitioners to lure more practitioners into their clutches. They hoped practitioners would come to the court so that they could arrest them. Mr. Li Qiu was arrested at the gate of the court. That was his fourth arrest. He was sent to Datun Forced Labor Camp in Changchun City. The guards there used many methods to torture him until he lost consciousness. He was then taken to the Police Hospital where he was tortured for two months. After that he was taken to Tiebei Prison in Changchun City. In July 2002, he was transferred to Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp. After being savagely tortured, he no longer could sit or lay down. His entire body was swollen and he could barely breathe. Afraid of having to accept responsibility, Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp told his family to take him home from the Sino-Japan Unit Hospital in Changchun City at ten o'clock one evening in January 2003. When he was at home, pus discharged from his chest and back and his legs were paralyzed. He was not able to care for himself and died on July 6, 2004.

Mr. Liu Ziwei, 29, was a practitioner at Hunjiang City in Jilin Province. He held a hunger strike for six days at the police station before he was taken to Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp on December 20, 2004. He was extremely week on arrival at the forced labor camp. He continued his hunger strike at the labor camp. The guards tortured him by putting him in solitary confinement, force-feeding him, and cuffing both hands to the wall. His wrists bled. He was handcuffed for several days and not allowed to sleep. The guards stuffed socks into his mouth to stop him from shouting. At around 11 p.m. on December 13, 2004, when he was in critical condition, the guards took him to a hospital. Mr. Liu died on the way to the hospital. The guards removed the handcuff rings from the wall to destroy the evidence.

Mr. Song Wenhua, 56, was an employee of the Tonghua City Railroad Bureau in Jilin Province. He was arrested by government officials of Hulutao Township in Tonghua City when he was clarifying the truth in 2003. He was imprisoned at Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp. On October 8, 2004, the forced labor camp released him because he was in critical condition and they thought that they could not save him. Mr. Song Wenhua died on the evening of October 17, 2004.

Practitioner Song Wenhua died of the persecution

According to reliable sources at Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp, Mr. Song came down with health problems in March 2004. Staff at the forced labor camp examined him three or four times and he was diagnosed with uberculosis and other illnesses. More critically, one side of his chest had developed pleural effusion with 80 percent water in it. In June 2004, the forced labor camp informed Mr. Song's family that he had open tuberculosis and allowed him compassionate medical leave. However, the forced labor camp delayed releasing him for two more months. When his family asked about him, labor camp officials told them that the Jilin Province Judicial Bureau did not approve his release. His family went to the Judicial Bureau. Section Chief Zhang of the Judicial Bureau said, "We do not release people easily. He will be released only if he is close to death. The Judicial Bureau will take responsibility if he has any problems."

During the two-month delay, Mr. Song's family were not allowed to visit him. During that time, though extremely weak, he was still forced to do intensive labor just like other healthy inmates. The guards also kept asking him, "What's the relationship between you and the person who went with your children to the Jilin Province Judicial Bureau for your release?"

Later, Mr. Song had a high fever above 102 degrees Fahrenheit for more than ten days and was not able to eat for four or five days. He could not see or hear clearly. Staff at the forced labor camp did not report his situation, nor did they provide any medical treatment. When his family members saw him again, he was no longer able to take care of himself. He could no longer talk and was only skin and bones. A 56-year-old person looked like a man in his 70s. Mr. Song was released on October 8, 2004. He died a few days later.

Mr. Zhang Qifa, 38, was an employee of the Sanchazi Forest Farm of the Jiangyuan County Forestry Bureau in Baishan City, Jilin Province. He was illegally sentenced to one year of forced labor and re-education in March 2002 and imprisoned at Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp. He died on January 19, 2003, as the result of torture.

Practitioner Mr. Zhang Qifa died the day after he was released.

Mr. Zhang was released after his first arrest on February 19, 2002. Only fourteen days after he returned home, on March 6, 2002, he was taken by police to Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp for one year of forced labor. Guards Zhao Dongli and Shu Shenglin from the 2nd Group beat him viciously with belts and continuously tortured him with other methods for three days. They dragged him out to the guards' room for torture. The sound of beating, the sizzling of the electric baton, and cries of great pain could be clearly heard. When they were tired, they would drag him back to his room. Then they would again torture him. After the severe beating, there was no skin left on Mr. Zhan. He was in critical condition. When he was released on January 18, 2003, his body was full of scars, and his skin was black and covered with many wounds. His legs were in such a great pain that he could not walk. He had difficulty breathing, speaking, and excreting. He died on January 19, 2003.

Practitioner Mr. Zhang Quanfu and his granddaughter Zhang Qi

Mr. Zhang Quanfu, 65, was the father of Mr. Zhang Qifa. He was also an employee of the Sanchazi Forest Farm of the Jiangyuan County Forestry Bureau in Baishan City, Jilin Province. He was tortured to death by the guards from the 2nd Squadron of the 6th Group in Chaoyangguo Forced Labor Camp.

Beginning in November 2002, Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp carried out a "One Hundred Day Campaign to Attack the Fort," which meant the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. Before this round of torture, Mr. Zhang Quanfu had already been tortured and was injured all over his body. His pants were always wet because of the pus draining from his wounds. He weighed less than 66 pounds. He ate very little and was in critical condition. Instead of releasing him, the forced labor camp escalated the torture. They extended the time he had to sit without moving on a board from five in the morning to midnight.

When Mr. Zhang Quanfu was called into the guards' room, Guard Wang Tao asked him whether he would continue practicing Falun Gong. Mr. Zhang Quanfu said, "I will practice Falun Gong as long as I can breathe." Wang Tao grabbed a large cup of boiling water and poured it over his hands. The skin on his hands was burned and blistered immediately.

After this torture, Mr. Zhang Quanfu got worse and worse. His hands were infected. He could not eat or drink. The squadron lead guard, Li Zhongbo, said he was just pretending and asked two personal cangues to carry him to the cafeteria daily. Mr. Zhang Quanfu was forced to sit on the board the day before he died. The guards saw that he was about to die and sent him to hospital, but it was too late and he died that evening.

Mr. Liang Baisheng, 48, worked at the Jingyuetan Economic Development and Tourism District in Changchun City. He was illegally taken to a forced labor camp for a two-year term on September 20, 1999. The guards at the forced labor camp extended his term for another two months. He was released on November 20, 2001. In March 2002, police from the Yutan Town Police Station arrested him and took him to the Changchun City Police Department. There, he was beaten brutally and tortured on the "Tiger Chair" and with other torture instruments. Then he was imprisoned at Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp for two years. The guards ordered inmates to beat him with wooden sticks. They took off his clothes off and pushed him into the bathroom and used high pressure water hoses on him. He was extremely cold and became unconscious from the freezing cold water. When he came to, the inmates forced him to sit on the concrete floor and did not allow him to sleep. He suffered from high fever continuously, but he was still forced to work at the factory during the day. He was tortured like this five times within a week. Then he came down with high fever and could not eat. He kept coughing and spitting blood. Mr. Liang developed pulmonary tuberculosis and died on March 20, 2006.

Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp used these kinds of vicious methods to torture many practitioners to death during the past several years. In addition to the above mentioned practitioners, several other practitioners developed pulmonary tuberculosis from the torture and were released but died afterwards. They were: Mr. Zheng Yongguang from Changchun City, who died a year after being released; Mr. Zheng Yongping from Baishan City in Jilin Province died twenty days after being released; Mr. Li Chuanwen from Hongmei Town in Meihekou City, Jilin Province, died nine days after being released; and Mr. Zheng Fuxiang from Yushu City in Jilin Province died the day after being released.

Mr. Wang Guibin of Wanquan County, Hebei Province Suffered Ten Rounds of Kidnapping and Persecution Before He Died

    Falun Gong practitioner Wang Guibin

Mr. Wang Guibin was a Falun Gong practitioner from Ximalin Town, Wanquan County, Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province. He was illegally arrested and tortured ten times before he died. To escape the persecution, he once had to flee from home and sleep overnight in a shack next to a melon paddy and in a tomb. On September 1, 2006, the police arrested Mr. Wang Guibin and took him to Shisanli Detention Center in Shisanli, Zhangjiakou City. At around 4:00 p.m., September 15, the police from Wanquan National Security Group took Mrs. Wang to the morgue and told her that Mr. Wang had passed away.

The sudden news devastated Mrs. Wang. She collapsed and could no longer walk without support. She has become bed-ridden and relies on IV's to survive. Mr. Wang's elderly mother, in her 80's, was devastated to see her son repeatedly persecuted.

As soon as Jiang Zemin and his gang launched the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners on July 20, 1999, his accomplices in the evil Chinese Communist Party (CCP) illegally arrested Mr. Wang Guibin and imprisoned him in the police's conference room for two days. He was physically abused and forced to clean up, collect the garbage and clean the bathrooms. In addition, the police extorted 100 yuan from him. Kang Wang, secretary of the CCP Political and Security Committee, oversaw the persecution of Mr. Wang and showed up three times a day. During the illegal imprisonment, the police ransacked his home and confiscated Falun Gong books and materials.

On May 8, 2000, Mr. Wang Guibin went to Beijing with fellow practitioners to clarify the truth about Falun Gong. The police patrol on Tiananmen Square arrested and locked them inside an iron cage at Tiananmen Square Police Station. After Mr. Wang was beaten and interrogated, Supervisior Yang Shengwei of Ximalin Town, Zhao Yuxiang and a driver named Wang Zhongbin took him to the car and frisked him. They stole the 270 yuan he carried on him and beat him savagely. Next, they imprisoned Mr. Wang Guibin and other practitioners from the same area in the police department and subjected them to hard labor for one day before taking them back to Ximalin Town that night. They were taken to the town hall's conference room, where Commissioner Yang Shengwei, the local CCP Secretary in Zhao Yuxiang, Secretary of the Political and Legal Committee Zhang Yuda, Deputy Secretary of the Political and Legal Committee Chen Tingfu and Zhen Xiangyang continued to beat Mr. Wang Guibin, causing his face to bleed terribly. They also extorted 5,250 yuan from him.

On January 24, 2001, Mr. Wang Guibin went to Beijing again to appeal for Falun Gong. This time he was arrested and imprisoned in Xuanwu Police Station for six days. Mr. Wang went on a hunger and thirst strike to protest the persecution. The police stripped him, leaving him in only a pair of underpants in the middle of the cold winter in northern China. Next, the police poured a large bucket of cold water on his head and left the window open to freeze him. During the imprisonment, the police beat him savagely daily, and whipped him with a rolled up poster of Master Li. They burned a Master Li's photo with a cigarette in front of him to torment him. In the end Mr. Wang Guibin gave in to the physical and psychological torture and told the police his name and address. He was brought back to Ximalin Town and imprisoned for many days. He was not released until he had been on a hunger and thirst strike for days.

On December 29, 2000, Zhang Yuda, Kang Wang and Policeman Liu Yongjun took a group of policemen to the homes of local Falun Gong practitioners. One by one, they ransacked the Falun Gong practitioners' homes and arrested them. They imprisoned Mr. Wang Guibin and many other practitioners in Ximalin police station's conference room. It was in the middle of Northern China's freezing winter. With no heating.in the room, it was so cold that water turned to ice. These corrupt policemen threatened to extort more money if the practitioners should refuse to renounce Falun Gong. Zhao Yuxiang, Yang Zhanbiao and Ruan Shuzhi defamed Falun Gong. They extorted from each practitioner 260 yuan and subjected them to hard labor daily. They were released after four days.

In mid-May 2001, the police brought Mr. Wang Guibin again to the conference room. This time, he escaped. Unfortunately he injured his legs during the escape. His legs were badly swollen. While he was on the run, he bought only enough food to stop his hunger. He slept in a tomb and in a shack next to a melon field and vegetable paddies. Three months later, someone in a small village sighted and reported him to the police. The police arrested him and imprisoned him in the Yaojiafang Town Police Station. The police confiscated Zhuan Falun and 180 yuan, all the remaining cash he had. Fifty yuan came from his elderly mother, who saved the money by salvaging and selling items from the garbage. Mr. Wang Guibin escaped during the night.

In mid-January 2003, the Secretary of the CCP's local Political and Legal Committee Zhang Yuda and his cohorts brutally beat and interrogated him. Afterwards, they imprisoned him in Kongjiazhuang Detention Center for one day before transferring him to Wanquan County Detention Center for 43 days. Mr. Wang went on a hunger and thirst strike, and therefore was subjected twice to brutal force-feeding. He was not released until he was at death's door. After he returned home, he learned that Zhang Yuda had come and pushed his elderly mother to the ground, resulting in a shoulder dislocation. It took Mrs. Wang three months to recover.

At around 6:00 p.m. on April 5, 2002, Zhang Yuda and his cohorts smashed the lock and pried open Mr. Wang Guibin's front door. They took Mr. Wang to a forced brainwashing center in Wujiayao, Kongjiazhuang. As soon as he was taken to the center, the policeman in charge named Li Jijin beat him brutally. Mr. Wang Guibin went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution, but the torturers inflicted additional pain by inserting the feeding tube into his throat many times. Because Mr. Wang refused to cooperate with the torturers, Li Jijin beat him brutally until Mr. Wang's face turned purple. Because the torturers weren't able to insert the feeding tube into Mr. Wang, a physician from a county hospital injected him with a large quantity of anesthetic by force when Mr. Wang was not paying attention. Yet Mr. Wang became all the more energetic. The physician and the torturers at the scene were in awe of the miracle. They exclaimed repeatedly, "Falun Gong is divine!" Shocked by the miracle, the majority of the torturers dared not continue the torture. Mr. Wang was released five days later.

On March 2, 2003, Ximalin Town Police Station ordered about five policemen to break into Mr. Wang Guibin's home. They seized Mr. Wang and took him to the station. Mr. Ma Zhanfu, former Captain of Wanquan County's Political and Security Team, interrogated him. They ransacked his home and confiscated Zhuan Falun. In addition, they cut Teacher's photo into pieces. That day they took Mr. Wang to Wanquan County Detention Center. Mr. Wang went on a hunger and thirst strike to protest the persecution, and was again subjected to brutal force-feeding. On the sixth day, Mr. Wang was transferred to Gaoyang Forced Labor Camp in Baoding. Because Mr. Wang was severely ill due to the torture, the camp refused to take him. The police decided to release him.

At 6:00 a.m. in mid-July 2003, Zhang Yuda and a group of policemen climbed over the wall and broke into Mr. Wang Guibin's home. They forcibly took him to Wanquan County Police Department. They also ransacked his home and even stole 10 yuan, the only remaining cash in his home. At noon, Mr. Ma Zhanfu and Mr. Pang Hai from the village committee sent Mr. Wang Guibin to a forced brainwashing center in Shalingzi, Zhangjiakou for brainwashing and torture. Mr. Wang went on hunger strike to protest the persecution. He was force-fed twice. The torturers inserted feeding tubes in him repeatedly to inflict more pain. He was released nine days later when he was dying.

At around 9:00 p.m. on May 8, 2006, Mr. Wang Ping from Ximalin Village Security Committee took his accomplices and two policemen to the elderly Mrs. Wang's home at Xiguan Street, trying to find Mr. Wang Guibin. Mrs. Wang didn't answer the door when they knocked, so they smashed in the front door, climbed over the wall and broke into her home. The elderly Mrs. Wang was overwhelmed with fear. Mrs. Wang has experienced break-ins by the police about nine times.

When the thugs failed to find Mr. Wang at his mother's home, they went to his home. A policeman climbed over the wall and caused bricks to fall off. The police broke into Mr. Wang's home, pressed his face against the floor and twisted his arms behind his back.

The police even sat on top of Mr. Wang, twisting his left arm behind him and his right arm beneath his body and pressed his head against the floor. Mr. Wang was suffocating. A policeman insisted that there must be something inside a locked chest, so they pried open the chest and looted everything in it. They ransacked the three rooms in the house, leaving nothing unturned. The lock and door knock were smashed. The noise disturbed the neighbors. The police held Mr. Wang in this position for 15 minutes. When Mr. Wang was finally let go, he could not move at all. His left arm hurt very badly. He lay still on the floor and could not stretch his back.

The police hauled Mr. Wang to the car and to the police station. the chief of Ximalin Police Station Cai Jianping, Guo Wanbao from Ximalin Village's Political and Security Committee, a driver with the nickname Baozi and a policeman transferred Mr.Wang to Kongjiazhuang Detention Center during the night. During the three days of imprisonment Mr. Wang was denied food and water.

This time the police confiscated the following items from Mr. Wang's home: all of his Falun Gong books and truth-clarification materials, VCDs, a small boom box, brush pens, ink pens, ball point pens, a pair of glasses, 45 yuan from the wheat mill work and 70 yuan that the elderly Mrs. Wang earned from salvaging and selling items from the garbage.

Mr. Wang was transferred to Wanquan County Detention Center. They threatened to imprison him for 15 days, but released him three days later. The policeman on duty gave Mr. Wang ten yuan and the key to his home. He told Mr. Wang to go home on his own. The key came from the chest they pried open. He also overheard someone saying, "How come there is only one person? Weren't you planning to arrest two men?" Apparently, they had everything planned beforehand.

At around 9:00 a.m. on September 1, 2006, Mr. Wang had just entered his third son's vegetable store when Wu Rui from Ximalin Village reported him to the police. In a short while, Guo Wanbao from Ximalin Political and Security Committee, Cai Jianping, Pang Hai and two policemen named Guo and Ma from Qinjieyi Police Station came to the store. They tricked Mr. Wang into going to the police station and pushed him into a police car in front of a large crowd.

This was the tenth time that the wicked police kidnapped Mr. Wang Guibin. Two days later, Guo Wanbao gave Mr. Wang's family an arrest warrant without telling them where he was held.

At around 4:00 p.m. on September 15, 2006, the police from Wanquan National Security Group came to Mr. Wang's home. A driver named  Tian Haidong told Mrs.Wang that the police asked to see her. He then drove her directly to the morgue, where she was told that her husband had passed away. However, she was prevented from seeing her husband's body.

Mr. Wang's third son went to the morgue and managed to take a look at the body, but they refused to let him take the body home. According to the police, Mr. Wang died at 1:00 a.m., September 14, 2006, but they refused to tell them how he died.

This is but a tip of the iceberg of Jiang Zemin and the CCP's persecution of Falun Gong. Mainly responsible for the death of Mr. Wang Guibin are the Secretary of Wanquan County's CCP Committee Li Min and Wanquan County Commissioner Wang Congzhu. They have held their jobs for only a few months, but three Falun Gong practitioners have been secretly taken to a forced labor camp and a Falun Gong practitioner died in police custody during their watch.

Ms. Li Yuxiang Suffered All Kinds of Tortures and Died at 49 in 2004

Ms. Li Yuxiang was a practitioner from Zhucheng City, Weifang Area, Shandong Province. Since July 20, 1999 the police frequently went to her home to ransack her house, detain and fine her. She was sent to forced labor camps twice. The police also harassed and threatened her and her family day and night, and her health was ruined. She died on January 25, 2005 at the age of 49.

Ms. Li Yuxiang lived at Wulibao village, which is reserved for the employees of the Zhucheng City Foreign Trade Company and their family members. She was in the latter stages of a terminal pulmonary ailment before she started practicing Falun Gong. She often spit up blood, and doctors had made it clear that her illness was incurable. In February 1996 she began to practice Falun Gong, and soon she recovered and her health returned to normal. On December 13, 1999 Ms. Li Yuxiang went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong, but she was arrested and sent back on 16th. At the Mizhou Road Police Substation in Zhucheng City, she was badly beaten by officer Cao Jinhui and five others with a leather belt and electric batons. They also punched and kicked her. Then Ms. Li Yuxiang was sent to the Zhucheng Detention Center, where she was persecuted for a month.

During her detention, her employer, the Zhucheng City Foreign Trade Company, collaborated with the Zhucheng Police Department and conducted an illegal trial in front of a huge crowd. Practitioners Ms. Li Yuxiang, Mr. Zhang Muhua, Ms. Wang Yulan and several others were dragged to the trial. Their hands were tied behind their backs with ropes that looped around their necks. Attending the "trial" were Wang Jinyou, the company's Managing Director and other members of the company's Party Committee, as well as Ming Zhongliang, Head of the Police Department and Zhao Jinguang. The policemen were carrying guns. Two policemen stood behind each practitioner. They twisted the practitioners' hands behind their backs and pushed their heads down with force. The officers also carried snaffles (for animals) and threatened the practitioners, saying, "Anyone who shouts will have to wear this." Each practitioner had a big sign bearing words that defamed Falun Gong hanging from their necks.

After she was at the detention center for 30 days, the vicious party members of the Zhucheng Foreign Trade Company took Ms. Li Yuxiang to a deserted building at the company's western courtyard to continue her detention. The persecutors forced her to write a so-called Guarantee Statement. There was nothing in the rundown building. Biting cold wind blowing in from the broken windows made her shiver. Ms. Li Yuxiang was only allowed to go back home for a few days during the Chinese New Year, but her family was subjected to extortion, and had to pay 15,600 yuan in "fines."

On February 8, 2000 Ms. Li Yuxiang and her husband Mr. Zhang Muhua went to Beijing together to appeal for Falun Gong and were arrested by plainclothes police officers. They were taken to a police car, where they were searched. One of the policemen stomped on Ms. Li's ear and slapped her face. Afterwards they were taken to the Tiananmen Square Police Substation, where they were interrogated before being sent to the Weifang Office in Beijing. They were searched upon their arrival and their money and IDs were taken, then a dozen practitioners were handcuffed together and forced to sit on the icy cold marble floor.

On February 12, these practitioners were sent back to Zhucheng City and were locked up in the deserted building at the company's western courtyard. Ms. Li Yuxiang and her husband Mr. Zhang Muhua were kept in separated rooms. One day policeman Cao Jinhui had a few drinks at lunch, and when he came back he brutally beat Ms. Li Yuxiang and the other practitioners.

Two days later Ms. Li Yuxiang was sent to Xinghua Road Detention Center, where she had to wear handcuffs 24 hours a day. She needed help to eat her meals, go to bed and use the toilet. She suffered these tribulations for more than 20 days.

In order to protest the cruel torture, Ms. Li Yuxiang and the other practitioners who were held there began a hunger strike. The persecutors, led by Cao Jinhui, carried out forced feeding. They inserted a small tube into Ms. Li's nose. Instantly she felt as if she would suffocate, and she was force-fed three times.

Twenty-eight days later Ms. Li Yuxiang was returned to her workplace at the Zhucheng Foreign Trade Company. She was held at the western courtyard, where there was a fodder factory. Her husband was also locked up there. Her employer detained her for another two months, and during that time no one was allowed to see her.

The couple stopped eating and drinking to protest the inhuman torture. They were released three days later. When they returned home they were penniless, and the Zhucheng Foreign Trade Company wouldn't let Mr. Zhang Muhua go back to work, so they had no source of income. They survived on money from Ms. Li Yuxiang's younger sister.

On May 1, 2000 Ms. Li Yuxiang and fellow practitioner Wang Yulan went to Beijing once again to appeal on behalf of Falun Gong. They were arrested at the Public Complaint Bureau and taken to the local police sub-station, then they were sent to the Weifang Office in Beijing. The Zhucheng City Foreign Trade Company took them back to the Security Division of the company. Wang Jinshan, the head of the division, incited security guards to force the two practitioners to the ground and pour human excrement and urine down their throats. As a result they were covered with human excrement. Then Ms. Li Yuxiang and Ms. Wang Yulan were tied to trees. The next day they were sent to the detention center, where they were persecuted for a month. Ms. Li Yuxiang began a hunger strike to protest the persecution. During the hunger strike, which lasted for more than 20 days, she was force-fed six times. The evildoers also called her daughter, who was studying in another part of the country, to the detention center and asked her to pressure her mother to give up her belief in Falun Gong. Female guard Wang Wei would beat or verbally abuse Ms. Li Yuxiang whenever she saw her. Even when Ms. Li was extremely weak as a result of her hunger strike and was about to be released, Wang Wei slapped her in her face. Ms. Li had blood all over her mouth.

On October 1, 2000 Ms. Li Yuxiang went to Beijing again and was locked up at the Zhucheng Detention Center upon her return. Prison guard Wang Zong pulled her hair and beat her badly. Afterwards Ms. Li Yuxiang was restrained in the iron chair, which was only used to torture convicts sentenced to death. Other practitioners who were forced to sit on the "iron chair" included Ms. Wang Yulan, Ms. Zhuang Rufeng, Ms. Yang Guizhen and Ms. Chen Xiuling.

In order to protest the inhuman torture, Ms. Li Yuxiang and her fellow practitioners went on a hunger strike together. Nine days later fellow practitioner Ms. Yang Xiugui was tortured to death in the "iron chair." Ms. Li Yuxiang was extremely weak as a result of torture. The guards released her from the "iron chair" and sent her to the hospital, for fear that she would die too. During this period her employers called her daughter back again and pressured her to persuade her mother to give up Falun Gong. Ms. Li Yuxiang's daughter-in-law, who also worked at the Zhucheng City Foreign Trade Company, was suspended from her duties and later fired.

Even then the police were still frequently going to the family's home to harass them, so Ms. Li's family had no choice but to leave and become homeless in order to avoid being arrested and persecuted.

In February 2001 Ms. Li Yuxiang was arrested at her hometown, and she was sent to the Wangcun Forced Labor Camp a few days later. She was extremely weak, so the forced labor camp refused to take her, and she was therefore released.

At around 5 o'clock one afternoon at the end of December 2001 Feng Zhenquan, head of the Security Section of the fodder factory at the foreign trade company, led six police officers from Mizhou Road Police Substation to force their way into Ms. Li Yuxiang's home. They dragged Ms. Li face down from the fifth floor to the ground floor. Her heels were torn open and dripping blood. She was first taken to Mizhou Road Police Substation. At the time it was very cold outside, but the police wouldn't let her put on her overcoat and shoes when they took her to the detention center. The next day she was sent to the Wangcun Forced Labor Camp. Due to her poor health the forced labor camp refused to admit her then, but they accepted her later after the lawless officials who sent her there bribed the admission officers. Ms. Li began another hunger strike at the forced labor camp. Four days later she was released because she was extremely weak.

In May 2003 Ms. Li Yuxiang and other practitioners were arrested while hanging up Falun Gong banners and were taken to the Huanghua Police Substation. After a severe beating, her face was bruised and swollen. Her mouth was bleeding, there were two big lumps on her head, her body was covered with cuts and bruises, and her hair had been yanked out. Seeing her condition officials at the Zhucheng Detention Center dared not take her in when she was sent there.

Ms. Li Yuxiang, who suffered all kinds of physical and psychological tortures for refusing to renounce Falun Gong, died on January 25, 2005.

Practitioner Ms. Tang Yuhua Force-Fed and Mr. Ou Jiafa Forced to Leave Home

Corrupt officials of Chenxi County, Hunan Province have been persecuting Falun Gong practitioners. Ms. Tang Yuhua was force-fed and her family was extremely worried about her. Ou Jiafa was forced to leave his home to avoid persecution, and no one knows where he is.

Ms. Tang Yuhua, a Falun Gong practitioner from Chenxi County, Hunan Province was illegally arrested on September 6, 2006 with the excuse of "searching for illegal items." She was detained in a detention center. On September 16, some other practitioners and her husband went to visit her and were told that she had been on hunger strike for almost 10 days and she had been force-fed twice.

The warden claimed that Ms. Tang already began to have meals. Warden Liu Qiliang claimed they force-fed her in order to save her life, but actually forced-feeding is used to brutally torture Falun Gong practitioners.

In order to force-feed practitioners, the guard or the warden ordered five to seven prisoners to tie the practitioner up. They pressed or pinched the practitioner's nose with their fingers. The practitioner was stifled and forced to open his or her mouth to breathe. Then the other prisoners pried the practitioner's mouth open with a wrench. Sometimes the practitioner's mouth filled with blood. When the mouth was pried open, a water pipe was inserted into the practitioner's throat. The prisoners pinched the practitioner's nose, and poured soy milk from a bottle into the tube. They poured without stopping, threatening the practitioner with force and torturing the practitioner with suffocation in attempt to force him or her to surrender. How Ms. Tang must have suffered! Her son, her daughter, and her husband were heartbroken, and hoped she could come home. They have been to the detention center twice, but were not permitted to see Ms. Tang. They were ridiculed and were almost arrested themselves.

Ms. Tang's husband does not practice Falun Gong, yet he endures all the suffering quietly. He always told others, whether they were police officers ransacking his home or kindhearted Falun Gong practitioners, that his wife regained her health and good temper because of Falun Gong, and there was nothing wrong with being a good person.

Chenyang Town in Chenxi County was filled with red terror. Seven Falun Gong practitioners were detained.

As ordered by the Political and Judiciary Committee and instigated by the Ministry of State Security, officers from Chenyang Police Station ransacked Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Ou Jiafa's home at night. Mr. Ou was not home. His son asked the police to show a search warrant. The police smashed the iron gate open and forcibly searched his home. They seized Mr. Ou's Falun Gong books. Mr. Ou's son, Ou Jiajun, tried to stop the police, but they twisted his hands behind his back. Mr. Ou Jiajun cried out in pain and woke up the neighbor. The neighbor came and said, "He [Ou Jiajun] does not practice Falun Gong. He just came back home for a few days from his work. Why do you arrest him?" The police then released him.

In the following days, policemen searched for Mr. Ou Jiafa, and he was forced to leave home to avoid persecution.

Mr. Li Huzhe from Yanji City Arrested and Detained

Practitioner Mr. Li Huzhe, 45, is a university graduate and lives in Yanji City, Yanbian Korean Prefecture, Jilin Province

In 2000, the officials from Yanji City arrested Mr. Li and forced him to go through brainwashing because he practiced Falun Gong.

In 2001, Mr. Li was sentenced to one year of forced labor because he appealed to authorities in order to clarify the truth. His terms were extended in Yanbian Forced Labor Camp and Yinmahe Forced Labor Camp in Jiutai City because he kept his faith in Falun Gong during the forced labor. He was released in March 2002.

In December 2002, Mr. Li was again arrested by Yanji City State Security agents. He went through numerous tortures and was sentenced to three years in prison. In Jilin Prison, he was tied on the Death Bed for a long period of time. His legs had lost all feeling when he was taken off the Death Bed, and his legs are currently still numb. During his term in Jilin Prison, his old mother, who was almost blind due to severe cataracts, died alone at home without anybody to take care of her. Her body had started to decompose when it was found several days later.

In December 2005, Mr. Li Huzhe was released from three years of inhumane torture. It was then that he learned of his mother's death. His health was very bad. Both legs were numb, and he suffered from a chronic cough. Still, the Beshan Neighborhood Administration kept harassing him.

On the evening of September 18, 2006, several policemen from Beishan Station opened his door with a master key and dragged Mr. Li to the station. No one has heard from him since.
