  • Canada: Practitioners Rally at Parliament Hill - MPs Come to Support

On September 26, 2006, Falun Gong practitioners rallied in front of Parliament Hill in Canada, calling on the Canadian government and people to work together to stop the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) crimes of harvesting organs from living Falun Gong practitioners. MPs including MP Irwin Cotler, former Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada will come to support and make speeches. Reuven Bulka, PhD of law, Chairman of the Organ Donation Committee of the Kidney Foundation for Eastern Ontario, will also make a speech at the rally.

Former Canadian Liberty Party government cabinet member and renowned Jewish scholar Reuven Bulka once wrote an article in the Ottawa Citizen on August 25, saying that the CCP harvesting organs from living Falun Gong practitioners is "a human-rights breach of the worst order, and demands a response on the international level commensurate with the monstrous evil."

Bulka stated in his article, "People who are capable of these atrocities are not trustworthy. Promises that things are better are worthless. International oversight is an absolute must to ensure that this unspeakable horror stops."

Bulka suggested, "Governments must raise their collective voices in disgust at this, and condemn it in uncompromising terms. The traffic flow to China for these "procedures" needs to be stopped. We are capable of monitoring this if we set our minds to it. "

Bulka suggested to all groups and individuals, "Any muscle that we have, both collectively and individually, needs to be brought to bear in this fight." He said, "Governments should look at the propriety of any trade with China, and individuals should think about the morality of buying items that are made in China until this stops, with finality and with proof of same."

Bulka said, "The Olympics is the last stop in this process. That is a few years away, and the situation demands immediate and forceful attention. But if, God forbid, nothing happens between now and then, I cannot imagine that any self-respecting athlete would want to be involved in any activity, athletic or otherwise, that gives credibility, acceptability and respectability to a regime worthy of nothing more than utter contempt and revulsion."

In May this year, Canadian veteran MP David Kilgour and David Matas launched an independent investigation regarding the allegation on the CCP harvesting organs from living Falun Gong practitioners nationwide. During this time, the Kilgour/Matas investigation team met with many victims and witnesses, and made an in-depth research. The two investigators published their investigative report on July 6 in Ottawa, through assessing the eighteen different kinds of evidence on the cases that "Each portion of the evidence ... is, in itself, verifiable, and, in most cases, incontestable," they concluded, "there has been and continues today to be large scale organ seizures from unwilling Falun Gong practitioners."

Hundreds of media in Canada have reported on the Kilgour/Matas report. To sustain international attention to this matter, Mr. Kilgour and Mr. Matas once jointly or separately visited the United Nations, Hong Kong, Brussels, Paris, Berlin, London, Washington, New York, Boston, Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland, Norway, Denmark, Finland and other places. In London, four times in a day, they went to the British Broadcasting Cooperation (BBC), that has about four hundred million listeners. In Australia, they were invited four times by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC).

Other than the support from Canadian MPs of different parties, the international attention has continuously increased, such as all-party support in Australia and Sweden. They call on the international community to investigate and help stop the crimes of harvesting organs from living Falun Gong practitioners in China.

Russia: Practitioners Rally on Gandhi Square in Moscow to Expose CCP Atrocities

On September 15, 2006, Falun Gong practitioners staged a rally on Indira Gandhi Square in Moscow. The purpose was to expose the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) persecution of Falun Gong. In particular, activities were held to expose the CCP's crimes of harvesting organs from living Falun Gong practitioners.

Display board reads, "Falun Gong practitioners imprisoned in prisons and labor camps are being tortured and killed, with their organs harvested for sale while they are still alive. The CCP is committing crimes against divine law."

Re-enacting one of the many forms of torture used on Falun Gong practitioners in China.

People sign a petition to support efforts to end the persecution.

Gandhi Square sits between Lomnosov Moscow State University and Friendship Street, where the Chinese embassy is located. Practitioners displayed banners reading, "Falun Dafa" and "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance." Display boards were erected to expose the facts of the CCP's persecution of Falun Gong. Meanwhile, some of the practitioners put on an anti-torture exhibition. Another practitioner explained the beauty of Falun Dafa and facts of the persecution over a loudspeaker.

Passersby read the materials on the display boards and were given truth-clarification flyers. Many people signed the petition to support efforts to end the persecution.

An older person who had traveled a long distance to Moscow stood in front of the display boards, reading the displayed materials attentively. He told the practitioners, "I find it impossible to use words to describe my inner feelings. What can I do for you? I will take your materials back to those around me to let more people understand what is happening in the world." He also signed the petition.

A practitioner acting as a woman imprisoned in a cage in the anti-torture exhibition was asked how she felt. She sighed heavily, "Two years ago when I was acting as a practitioner imprisoned in a cage in an anti-torture exhibition outside the Chinese embassy, I kept shedding tears for fifteen minutes. I felt so close to China. I could sense the suffering inflicted on my Chinese fellow practitioners. It was as if I were personally experiencing the suffering. It was a type of innermost feeling that words cannot adequately describe. Hopefully, our activities can enable people to understand that the CCP is committing crimes against humanity in China. It is everyone's responsibility to uphold justice and to end the evil."

An organizer of the activities told a reporter, "We organize such activities in an attempt to have our society, government and media express concern over the current persecution in China. To keep silent about such a brutal persecution is, in fact, to tolerate evil. We feel obliged to tell people the facts so as to awaken them to their conscience and kindness. It is a comfort to see the kindness of most Russian people who unanimously condemn such persecution, torture and killing. We have heard many expressions of sympathy and support."

Hong Kong: Falun Gong Practitioners Urges Singapore Authorities to Withdraw Charges and Stop Being an Accomplice of CCP

The case of the trumped-up charges against local Falun Gong practitioners by the Singapore government started a new round of court hearings at the local Subordinate Court on September 25, 2006. At 11:00 a.m. that morning in Hong Kong, a group of Falun Gong practitioners set off from Charter Garden and marched to the Consulate General of Singapore to deliver an open letter, urging the Singapore authorities to immediately withdraw the unreasonable charges against local practitioners and to stop follow the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in the persecution of Falun Gong.

Practitioners read the open letter outside the Consulate General of Singapore

The incident took place on July 20, 2006, when three Falun Gong practitioners displayed a banner reading "Hunger Strike on July 20 in Protest of the CCP's Inhumane Persecution of Falun Gong" outside the Chinese Embassy in Singapore. The police charged two of them in court with "harassment by displaying insulting writing." The first five-day round of court hearings began on August 28, and a new round of court hearings is schedule to start on September 25. Early in the morning on September 23, the Singapore authorities denied entry to three Hong Kong Falun Gong practitioners who tried to enter Singapore to attend the court hearings. They were deported to Hong Kong later in the morning.

The three Hong Kong practitioners who were unreasonably deported took part in the parade on September 25. After reaching the Consulate General of Singapore, the practitioners read out the open letter outside the consulate, urging the Singapore authorities to respect freedom of speech and other basic human rights and to immediately withdraw the charges against local practitioners. The letter was later delivered to a consulate staff member.
