  • 1641 Deaths of Practitioners by Torture or Murder Confirmed in 2005

During 2005, the Clearwisdom website posted 1,641 reports of Falun Gong practitioners in China being persecuted to death. The reports came from 29 provinces, cities and several "autonomous regions." Jiang Zemin, his regime, and the CCP began persecuting Falun Gong practitioners on July 20, 1999. From then through December 31, 2005, at least 2,805 practitioners have died due to the persecution. Of these deaths, 392 occurred in 2005. These are only the known deaths. Because the persecutors try to hide their crimes, the true death toll is certain to be higher.

Among the 1,641 deaths cases uncovered in 2005, female practitioners numbered 953 (58 percent) and 928 people were over age 55 (56 percent). Among the 1,641 victims, the youngest were three 14-year-old girls: Zhang Zheng, a student from Quantang High School in Chaohu City, Anhui Province; Wang Wenlan, a first year student from the Shuangcheng City No. 8 High School, Heilongjiang Province; and Tang Shiyu, a student from the Fucun Primary School in Dandong City, Liaoning Province.

Because the CCP tries to block information about the persecution, among the 1,641 death cases, we have not been able to verify the former residences of 25 victims. In 2005, Hebei Province had the highest known death toll in the country, 252 people. In descending order, the rest of the death counts are: Liaoning Province with 202; Heilongjiang Province, 181; Jilin Province, 180; Shandong Province, 169; Sichuan Province, 89; Hubei Province, 75; Henan Province, 71; Hunan Province, 57; Beijing, 52; Inner Mongolia, 40; Guangdong Province, 35; Jiangxi Province, 24; Chongqing City, 23; Tianjin City, 22, Anhui Province, 21; Guizhou Province, 20; Jiangsu Province, 18; Gansu Province, 16; Shaanxi Province, 13; Shanxi Province, 12; Guangxi Chuang, 9; Xinjiang Uygur, 9; Yunnan Province, 8; Zhejiang Province, 6; Fujian Province, 5; Shanghai City, 4; Hainan Province, 1; Tibet, 1; and one Taiwanese person who returned to China.

Luo Gan and Zeng Qinghong, diehard followers of Jiang Zemin who are entrenched in the top levels of the CCP hierarchy, led a new round of persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in 2005. Throughout China, practitioners were arrested en masse, and hundreds were tortured to death. The CCP has not stopped the persecution of Falun Gong for one moment. The death cases posted on the Clearwisdom website have exposed numerous cases of persecution cases that might not have been otherwise revealed. The bloody torture methods are shocking, revealing the CCP's true nature.

Fifteen More Deaths Verified in December 2005

In December 2005 alone, through informal channels we verified 15 more deaths of Falun Gong practitioners. Twelve were killed during the year, and four died in December. The age range was from 34 to 73 years old. Eight of them were women. These 15 deaths occurred in 10 provinces and autonomous regions. The victims were from all walks of life. They had endeavored to be good people according to Falun Gong's foundational principle of Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance. They all benefited physically and mentally, and they told people the truth about the persecution of Falun Gong. Because they tried to live good lives and tried to expose the persecution, the authorities, lead by the CCP, arrested them. The authorities tortured some practitioners to death right at the scene. Some died from torture later on. In some cases, practitioners were injected with unknown drugs. Others died from slave labor or from being in toxic environments. In some cases, the authorities sent some of them home just before they were about to die so that their deaths would not occur while they were in custody.

Middle School Teacher Mr. Fei Chongrun Beaten to Death; Family Prohibited from Investigating the Crime

Mr. Fei Chongrun, formerly known as Fei Weidong, 41, was a teacher at the Jiujiang County No. 1 Middle School in Jiangxi Province. He was nearly six feet tall and very healthy. At noon on October 18, 2005, he clarified the truth as he was buying a motorcycle at the Yongfeng Vehicle Shop at 335 West Lushan Road in Jiujiang County. The shop owner reported him to the police. The police arrived quickly and closed the shutters to the store. They then beat Mr. Fei to death. The police and shop owner Hong Ying colluded, trying to cover up the murder. The police threatened Mr. Fei Chongrun's family members, prohibiting them from investigating the cause of death.

Mr. Fei's family saw the gruesome injuries that covered his corpse. His mouth was swollen and bloodstained. Two of his front teeth were missing and one tooth was broken. There was a semi-circular-shaped wound on his right temple caked with dry blood. An inch above that wound was a circular wound more than a half inch in diameter. The flesh in that area was caved in and covered with blood. There were bruises, abrasions, and scratches on every part of his body, including his groin, which was black and blue.

Mr. Fei Chongrun's family asked shop owner Hong Ying about this incident, but Hong Ying and the police insisted that Mr. Fei "fell to his death." Considering Mr. Fei's extensive injuries, especially the severe wounds on his mouth and temple, they knew Hong Ying and the police were lying. How could Mr. Fei have knocked out two of his front teeth, injured his right side and incurred so many bleeding wounds just from a fall?

On October 21, members of the Jiujiang County Police Department, the political and judicial system and the local court, all of whom have long been persecuting Falun Gong, formed a group and played the role of "mediator." The Jiujiang County Police Department and the Politics and Law Committee each gave Mr. Fei Chongrun's family 10,000 yuan and claimed the money was from shop owner Hong Ying.

On October 22, four coroners from Jiujiang City and Jiujiang County and two doctors from a hospital performed Fei Chongrun's autopsy. They said that the results would not be available for a month. During that time, Mr. Fei Chongrun's family inquired about the results several times but was told, "If you keep inquiring like this, you will probably have to return the 20,000 yuan!" His family became silent. No further investigation was conducted into the cause of Fei Chongrun's death, and the case was buried. Mr. Fei left behind his 80-year-old father, his three-month-old daughter, and his unemployed wife.

Gansu Province Musician Ms. Liu Zhifang Tortured to Death: Hung Backwards by Handcuffs

Ms. Liu Zhifang, 48, was a pipa (Chinese lute) musician employed by the Gansu Province Yu-Opera Institute. On July 31, 2000, she went to Beijing to appeal on behalf of Falun Gong. The police arrested her and imprisoned her at detentions centers in Tianjin City and Lanzhou City. She was forced to perform heavy labor. In 2001, she was arrested and taken to the "Lanzhou City Legal Education School," a brainwashing center in Gongjiawan, but she walked out later. Ms. Liu Zhifang then walked from Tianshui City in Gansu Province to her hometown in Anhui Province. The trek took her three and a half months, and when she arrived, she clarified the truth to her friends and family.

When Ms. Liu Zhifang went back to Lanzhou City in 2002, she never stopped clarifying the truth to people. In July 2005, the police arrested her and once again took her to the brainwashing center in Gongjiawan. They placed her in solitary confinement and hung her backwards by handcuffs for a long time. She died from the torture at the end of July 2005.

In a document released on July 29, 2005, the administrators of the brainwashing center stated that Ms. Liu Zhifang had committed suicide. They threatened witnesses and strictly forbid true information from being released.

    Torture: hanging backwards by handcuffs

Mr. Su Guohua, 73, Dies From Long-Term Torture

Mr. Su Guohua lived in Liujiayuan Village, Yihezhuang Township, Zhuozhou City, Hebei Province. Before practicing Falun Gong, Mr. Su had had many illnesses, such as high blood pressure, coronary disease, diabetes, asthma, gastritis, and arthritis. None of his illnesses could be cured, and he had to use crutches to walk. In the autumn of 1995, Mr. Su began practicing Falun Gong. After practicing for six months, he experienced major improvements in both mind and body. All of his illnesses miraculously disappeared. He no longer needed crutches and could even ride a bicycle. He rode to neighboring villages to promote Falun Gong. Mr. Su became so energetic that he could even help his son by doing some farm work.

Many local people suddenly started practicing, and the supply of Falun Gong books and videos never met the demand, so Mr. Su rode often his bicycle to Beijing to purchase more Falun Gong materials. Even in bad weather, he always went and returned on the same day despite his advanced age. When Mr. Su returned in the evening, he delivered the Falun Gong books and videos to new practitioners' homes. When others asked if he ever felt tired, he always answered, "Falun Gong saved my life. Teacher gave me the chance to devote myself to Falun Gong. A little tiredness is nothing. To die for it is worthy." Mr. Su quietly promoted Falun Gong every day for years.

After the Chinese Communist regime launched its persecution of Falun Gong, to appeal for Falun Gong, Mr. Su went to appeal and clarify the truth in Beijing. Agents from the 610 Office arrested Mr. Su many times. During these arrests, they beat and cursed him, handcuffed him to a large tree, used electric batons on him, and extorted money from him. Mr. Su always refused to sign a repentance statement, so the authorities constantly harassed him. The vicious torture and persecution took Mr. Su's life in December 2003.

Police Torture Practitioners to the Verge of Death and Then Return Them to Their Families to Die

During the genocidal persecution of Falun Gong practitioners, staff of local police stations, forced labor camps, prisons and 610 Office brainwashing centers all over China have wantonly slaughtered innocent practitioners. They also persecute practitioners to their last gasp and then return them to their families.

Mr. Ma Wensheng, 56, worked at the Tiefeng District Commercial Service Committee People's Barbershop. He made Falun Gong truth clarification materials for a long time. At 5:00 p.m. on March 5, 2005, officers from the Zhengyang Police Station in Qiqihar City arrested him, his wife, Wang Guizhi, and their child. At the local Zhengyang police station, they beat Mr. Ma until his legs were broken and his body was deformed. Later, they sent him to the No. 1 Detention Center in Qiqihar City. On the morning of October 20, the police told his brother that Mr. Ma was hospitalized in the Qiqihar City Railroad Hospital. His brother saw him unconscious at the hospital. He passed away before his brother could get him food, soap, and a towel.

Ms. Zhao Fenglian, 51, used to live in apartment 22, building 32, in the No. 6 area of Longjinli, Jinchuan District, Jinchang, Gansu Province. She was arrested many times and sentenced because she practiced Falun Gong. In December 2004, Ms. Zhao was taken to the Team No. 2 at the Gansu Province Women's Prison, where she suffered brutal torture. She became emaciated. Wang Ling, head of the section, and Gu, head of the team, were responsible for Ms. Zhao Fenglian's persecution.

Ms. Zhao endured more than four months of inhuman torture. Her stomach was injured because of brutal force-feeding with salt water. She could no longer eat. Towards the end of her life, she went into a coma. The staff was afraid that she might die and sent her to the hospital. The doctors told the prison staff that she had cancer. They gave her injections daily. Once they realized that she was dying, they notified her family. As soon as her family arrived at the hospital, Ms. Zhao's health improved, so the guards would not release her. They said to her family, "Come back in a few days! We will give you her ashes!" However, when they realized that she was indeed dying, they hurriedly notified her family to take her home. Ms. Zhao Fenglian passed away at home on December 22, 2005.

Ms. Bao Liqun, 56, was a policewoman and assistant supervisor at the Zhongnan Police Station in Nanming District, Guiyang City. After she started to practice Falun Gong, the chronic colitis that had tortured her for 14 years was cured. She previously had to take many sick days, but after practicing Falun Gong, she did not have to take any. She won awards for her outstanding performance. After July 20, 1999, because she firmly refused to renounce Falun Gong, she was forced into early retirement.

On May 1, 2005, Ms. Bao was arrested when she was clarifying the truth with other practitioners. She was held in the Wudang District Detention Center for 17 days. On May 17, she was taken to the so-called "Legal System Education Class" in the Lannigou District of Guiyang City and subjected to brainwashing. Because she did not cooperate and went on a four-day hunger strike, she was force-fed. She developed bloody stools and diarrhea, which worsened day by day. Those in charge of the brainwashing center were afraid of being held responsible for her death and on June 13 notified her family to take her home. Ms. Bao Liqun died on August 20, 2005.

Ms. Bao Liqun, a practitioner and assistant police supervisor from Guiyang City, Guizhou Province, was tortured to death

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhang Yuzhi, 48, lived in the Yanbian Korean Ethnic Autonomous Region in Jilin Province. She was imprisoned in the Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp in Changchun City and forced to work in a toxic environment 16 hours per day. The surrounding air was thick and contained many cancer-causing chemicals, which made people feel dizzy, have headaches, and even vomit. She was tortured psychologically during brainwashing sessions. Under the physical and mental pressure, she developed leukemia. The camp officials did not allow her family to take her home until she could no longer take care of herself. Ms. Zhang went home on August 31, 2002, and passed away two weeks later.

Ms. Sun Guifeng, 34, lived in the residential area of the Yanzhou Mining Bureau in Shandong Province. In December 2004, she went out to clarify the truth to people. Mining Bureau security section personnel and police from the Jidong Police Department searched her home and confiscated her property. They took her and her husband to a detention center. Two weeks later, the authorities sent her to the "Judicial Training Center" in Shandong Province where she was brutally tortured. Luo Guangrong and others were in charge of her "transformation." She was in critical condition when her family took her home. She passed away in mid-April 2005.

Hunan Province Falun Gong Practitioner Mr. He Xuezhao Dies from Persecution; Police Arrest His Wife

Falun Gong practitioner Mr. He Xuezhao from Chenzhou, Hunan Province was tortured by the police until he could not walk and was at the brink of death. He was released around February 2005 on medical parole. Agents from the Zixing 610 Office in Chenzhou City and from his work unit continued to harass and monitor him. He Xuezhao passed away on January 13, 2006. Zixing police have recently arrested his wife. Her current whereabouts are unknown.

He Xuezhao was about 42 years of age. He was a teacher at the School for Children of Workers at the Liyujiang Electricity Plant in Zixing City, Chenzhou. He persisted in practicing Falun Gong after the persecution began in July 1999. Since Jiang Zemin's group and the Chinese Communist Party started persecuting Falun Gong, agents from the Communist regime never ceased to torment He Xuezhao. Mr. He was illegally held at the Chenzhou Detention Center three times for a total of 390 days. He was extorted out of 30,000 yuan and his private property worth about 12,000 yuan was confiscated. At least 84,000 yuan of his salary was withheld.

After July 20, 1999 Mr. He was illegally detained for ten days for doing the Falun Gong exercises in public. In January 2000, he went to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Gong and was illegally sentenced to one year of forced labor. He Xuezhao was held at the Xinkaipu Labor Camp in Changsha City, Hunan Province, with an extended six-month sentence. Before the 2002 Chinese New Year, Mr. He was illegally arrested by Chenzhou 610 Office agents and was sent to a brainwashing center. He was released after holding a hunger strike for eight days.

In March 2002, the police arrested He Xuezhao from work and took him to a hotel basement. A dozen police officers headed by Peng Yanshou and two deputy heads from the Liyujiang Police Department and from the Yanganlu Police Department took turns torturing him. They didn't allow him to close his eyes for four days and four nights. They handcuffed him with his arms behind his back. One person lifted his handcuffed hands above his head, and another person pushed his head down. Five days later, He Xuezhao broke free, but he had to stay away from home to avoid arrest.

On November 7, 2002, He Xuezhao was again arrested at a Falun Gong materials production site. The arresting police officers were from the Beihu District. He was held at the No. 1 Detention Center in Chenzhou City. On November 3, 2003, after an unlawful trial, the Beihu District Court in Chenzhou City sentenced Mr. He to eight years in prison. He was sent to the Jin City Prison in Hunan Province in early March 2004.

He Xuezhao was tortured to the brink of death at the Jin City Prison. He was diagnosed with tuberculosis and pleuritis. He was very weak, could hardly walk, and his speech became slurred.

In February 2005, Mr. He's family went to the authorities and requested his release. The prison authorities reluctantly released him on medical parole, but the Zixing City 610 Office agents disapproved and forced his family to pay a 15,000 yuan "guarantee fee" and write a guarantee statement. After He Xuezhao returned home, agents from the Zixing 610 Office and from his work unit harassed him frequently and ordered factory workers living below him to monitor him around the clock.

By then, He Xuezhao and his family were devastated from the relentless persecution. His health continued to decline rapidly and he passed away on January 13, 2006.

Right now, He Xuezhao's body is in the Chenzhou City Mortuary. His wife was taken away by Zixing City police and her current whereabouts are unknown. We call for people of conscience to pay attention to this matter and confront the wicked Communist officials for their lawless actions.

Urgent Call to Rescue Falun Gong Practitioners on Hunger Strike in Tianshui City's Third Prison in Gansu Province

After Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Liu Zhirong from Qingyang City, Gansu Province was tortured to death in Tianshui City's Third Prison (see /emh/articles/2006/1/19/69135.html), the Prison Administration cremated his body without notifying his family and sent his ashes back to the Qingyang City Funeral Home. They have not responded to his family in any way. They lied to them, saying that Mr. Liu Zhirong died from suicide.

Because their fellow practitioner was tortured to death, Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Xu Feng, Mr. Guan Qiang, and four others went on a group hunger strike that has been going on since January 11. They were all transferred from the Dingxi Prison together with Mr. Liu Zhirong. They have been on hunger strike for seven days now, and are all very weak.

We hereby call on all kind-hearted people in the world to express their concern over Mr. Liu Zhirong's death by torture and those six practitioners on hunger strike, and to demand their unconditional release.

Recent Persecution of Falun Gong Practitioners in Squadron 1 of the Second Women's Group of the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp

The so-called "Strictly Controlled Group" in Squadron 1 of the Second Women's Group at the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp was established in early April 2005. The guards in this group are extremely cruel toward Falun Gong practitioners. Many practitioners have been tortured to the point of disability and nervous breakdown, while some were tortured to the brink of death.

Practitioners are tortured on a daily basis for persevering in their belief in Falun Gong. Some were handcuffed and hung up for long periods of time, some are tortured in metal chairs, in solitary confinement cells, in triangular rooms and forced to stay in certain positions. They are subjected to lengthy periods of sleep deprivation, shocked with electric batons and savagely beaten. To uphold their basic human rights, the practitioners hold hunger strikes to protest the inhumane persecution. Nevertheless, Su Jing, head of the Second Women's Group, Wang Naimin, the political head, Li Mingyu, the squadron head, and Xie Chengdong, the deputy squadron head made a series of plans to further torture the practitioners through savage force-feeding.

Force-feeding is one of the most brutal persecution methods. The goal is not simply to administer food into the victim's stomach through a nasal tube, but to inflict great pain in an attempt to destroy the practitioner's will. Prior to the feeding, a few guards first strike the practitioner to the ground, pin her down, and cover her nose and mouth with plastic film until she has almost lost consciousness. Then the perpetrators make a hole in the film and insert a very thick feeding tube through the nostrils into the practitioner's stomach. The perpetrators swirl the tube around to inflict greater pain, until the practitioner has reached the limit of endurance. The guards and labor camp doctor want the practitioner to give up her belief and end the hunger strike.

The actual number of practitioners held at the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp is 395. Practitioners whose terms have expired are being released, and the number of inmates is constantly decreasing. On December 15, 2005, the labor camp authorities lied to their superiors who came for an inspection. They ordered brainwashed former practitioners to put more tables and chairs in the cafeteria to make the number of detainees appear to be more than the actual number. They did this to maintain their government funding.

The following is an account of the persecution of practitioners on a hunger strike by guards at Masanjia's Second Women's Group, headed by Su Jing.

In September 2005, Su Jing stated she would "take care of" Falun Gong practitioners in different groups, to put an end to hunger strikes. The perpetrators increased the number and quantity of forced-feedings and also gave practitioners IV infusions. They extorted money from the practitioners to persecute them financially. Starting in September 2005, they subjected practitioners to increased pressure, which forced some practitioners to give up their hunger strikes. Only seven practitioners are still on a hunger strike as of now. As of November 2005, Xiang Bofeng, a female guard in charge of playing Falun Gong-slandering broadcasts, videotaped the force-feeding of each practitioner and said she wanted to "leave historical testimony." The disposable feeding tube is supposed to be used only once, but at the Masanjia Labor Camp they are used repeatedly over a long period of time, without following any proper medical procedures. Oftentimes one tube is used for several people, and the doctors also reuse the feeding bags.

Right now, the practitioners are force-fed about twice daily for two days of the week, and three times daily for the rest of the week. They feed the practitioner with about 0.33 gallons of corn porridge each time. Occasionally they feed a practitioner a full plastic pot that contains 0.33 gallons (1-quart plus 1 cup, or 40 ounces) corn porridge in addition to 0.17 gallons (32.76 oz. or roughly 1-1/2 pints) water. Practitioner Yun Yan from Shenyang City was once force-fed four pots of porridge and water, and the water pushed the tube out of her nose. After the feeding, she often had a severe stomachache. She was later diagnosed with gastroptosis, and her stomach became almost perforated. Yun Yan confronted the doctor and said he violated his medical professional ethics. He said, "I'll feed you like this if you don't eat." Ms. Yun was released on October 1, 2005.

Sometimes there is not enough corn porridge for the evening feeding, but guard Cao Yujie would force-feed the practitioners with water rather than skip a feeding. The corn porridge is picked up from the cafeteria in the morning to be used for the day. By the evening force-feeding time, the porridge has often gone bad. The previous dinner's vegetable soup is added to the congee. Corn porridge dries up and congeals after a while, so the perpetrators keep stirring it, which speeds up the fermentation process. They feed the practitioners twice daily and add a small bag of soy milk powder and a little fruit juice and sugar. Once in a while, they add two 10-ml vials of potassium chloride, calcium tablets and pine pollen to the mix. They give the practitioners drugs whenever they show symptoms of illness. The squadron head said, "We'll feed you until you get fat, so you cannot get out of here via a hunger strike." The practitioners said, "We hold a hunger strike to oppose the persecution and uphold our right; at the same time, we are appealing for Falun Gong. We'll persist until the end, regardless of whether we are fat or thin."

In the last week of September 2005, the guards gave each practitioner on a hunger strike about five bottles of IV infusion daily. During the forced-feeding, the practitioners were handcuffed to bed rails so that they could not pull out the needle.

On November 29, the perpetrators took some practitioners on a hunger strike to the Masanjia Hospital. It was difficult to draw blood from practitioners who had been on a hunger strike for over six months. They charged a examination/lab/force-feeding fee to the practitioners and would deduct this money directly from the practitioners' accounts if they had credit balances on their cards. The labor camp doctor often said, "It costs 20 yuan to feed you a bottle of corn porridge, so the monthly feeding fee is 1,900 yuan." All of the fees are extorted from the practitioners' families. If the families refuse to pay the money, the labor camp would say, "You don't have to pay for force-feeding, just cover the medical examination."

The authorities can't do anything if the families continue to resist the persecution. The families' upright resistance is extremely powerful! In November 2005, the family of one practitioner traveled a long way to the labor camp and confronted the authorities, which shocked and restrained the guards at the Second Women's Group.

As of October 2005, the guards ordered that the practitioners cannot shout, "Falun Dafa is good" while being force-fed. Practitioners who refused to obey were dragged out and tortured further. In April 2005, the practitioners refused to sit on small stools about 6 inches in diameter that are used to torture them. They sat cross-legged on the concrete floor instead. As of November 2005, the team heads suddenly forced the practitioners to sit on these stools. They removed all the cushions. If the practitioners refused to sit on the stool, they would be forced to stand for long periods. This new round of corporal punishment is still going on now.

Room 213 is where practitioners on a hunger strike are held. After the persecution escalated in September 2005, the number of practitioners on hunger strike decreased by half. Only four practitioners remained on a hunger strike after October 1. By December 15, only three practitioners were still on a hunger strike. Their situation is as follows:

Practitioner Ms. Sheng Lianying is 40 years old and comes from Dalian City. She went on a hunger strike on May 4, 2005. After receiving IV infusions at the Masanjia Hospital, her legs were diagnosed as suffering from muscular atrophy. The diagnosis was made at Shenyang City Medical University. Ms. Sheng often suffered from pain in her legs. In July 2005, she was detained in solitary confinement for one week for shouting, "Falun Dafa is great." In early October, the guards held Sheng Lianying in a small "triangular" room without a window. The light is on all the time, six days in a row. On the fifth day, Xie Chengdong, the deputy head of Squadron 1, wrapped Ms. Sheng's head in an inmate's uniform and ordered others to violently beat her. Sheng Lianying is additionally beaten every once in a while. They covered her mouth so she was unable to shout out during the abuse. During one evening feeding early in December 2005, guard Gao Yuntian hit Sheng Lianying with a syringe and kicked her until her jaw turned black and blue. Ms. Sheng is now in very poor physical condition.

Practitioner Ms. Meng Guiqiu, 50 years old, comes from Goubangzi, Beining, Jinzhou City. She went on a hunger strike on April 22, 2005 and was held in solitary confinement for two days in early July 2005. Ms. Meng was sent back to the original cell because she was dizzy. In October 2005, they handcuffed her at the team head's office for 11 days, but she refused to give up her belief. Meng Guiqiu is in very poor health currently. She has hemorrhoids from sitting on a stool for a very long period. Once during a physical examination, they had to draw blood four times to obtain the required quantity. Guard Gao Yuntian savagely beat Ms. Meng during force-feeding.

Practitioner Ms. Dong Jingya, an architect, is 34 years old and comes from Shenyang City. She had held previous hunger strikes and most recently went on a hunger strike on May 11, 2005. In late May 2005, Ren Hongzan handcuffed Ms. Dong in an office for four days and coerced her to eat and wear an inmate's uniform. In late September 2005, guard Li Mingyu saw Dong Jingya reciting Falun Gong teachings in Room 213. Li Mingyu told her not to recite Falun Gong again. She did not cooperate with the unreasonable demand and was handcuffed for four days. In October, Dong Jingya refused to follow the guards' demands and was handcuffed by the side of a bed for ten days and nine nights. She never gave up her belief. One evening in early December, team head Tu slapped Ms. Dong's face. She is currently suffering from heart disease and kidney stones after long-term torture.

Three more practitioners on hunger strike on the first floor are detained in solitary confinement. One practitioner was recently arrested and sent there; another practitioner is Geng Li, who was sent to the Masanjia Labor Camp in late June 2005. She was handcuffed on a bed for a very long time. For a while inmates monitored Ms. Geng constantly.

Another practitioner, Ms. Jiang Guiyun, is 56 years old and comes from Dalian City. She started a hunger strike in early April 2005 and began to eat under pressure around September. She again went on a hunger strike in October 2005, which is still going on. When the Strictly Controlled Group was first established in early April 2005, the guards beat Ms. Jiang and banged her head against a metal bed. She shouted, "Falun Dafa is great!" in a loud and clear voice.

Practitioner Zhou Hua, 51 years old, from Jinzhou City, is held in the interrogation room on the second floor. She was transferred from Room 213 on December 15. Ms. Zhou has held two hunger strikes to resist the persecution. The first hunger strike was in March 2005. She was sent to solitary confinement. Ms. Zhou was again sent to solitary confinement during the second hunger strike and was held there for over 20 days. The most recent hunger strike began on July 30. In October, the guards handcuffed Ms. Zhou for one day and again in early November. They handcuffed her in a small "triangular" room for seven days. The guards force-fed Zhou Hua twice and slapped her face countless times. Guards Xie Jiachuan and Zhong Shuai beat her once, and guard Gao Yuntian and group head Tu also beat her. These guards are very vicious and they stopped only when Zhou Hua shouted, "Teacher!" She resisted courageously during a brutal force-feeding session on December 15 and was beaten until her mouth filled with blood. Three group heads failed to hold her down. Zhong Shuai slapped Ms. Zhou's face several times. Zhou Hua was later transferred out of Room 213 and was held in solitary confinement. Her current situation is unknown.

On the morning of August 17, 2005, the guards force-fed the practitioners again. Guard Liu Hui, a woman, shocked each practitioner who shouted, "Falun Dafa is great!" She said, "I'll charge my electric baton from now on every time I force-feed you. I'll turn you into fried fish!" Not one practitioner was intimidated. Liu Hui often grabbed the practitioners by their ears and banged their heads against the ground. Despite the cruel persecution, the practitioners said they would not waver in their determination to practice Falun Gong.

Exposing Incidents of the Persecution at Tiebei Jail in Changchun

The Officials and inmates at Tiebei Jail in Changchun inflicted the following tortures on Falun Gong practitioners during 2002. In the future more of their evil acts will be investigated and exposed.

Case 1: Isolated for Five Days and Nights, Forbidden to Sleep

In October 2002, the Changchun Tiebei 610 Office persecuted practitioner Mr. Jin Yuanri. Officers detained him in a small room at the 610 Office, keeping him in complete isolation. Many criminals at the jail were instructed to talk at him 24 hours a day to deprive him of sleep. This continued for five days and nights, making Mr. Jin very fatigued. During this time, a policeman shouted, "This is the way we deal with spies and today we use it on you. Let's see how long you can last."

Case 2: Hanging for Half an Hour in Freezing Temperatures

In December 2001, jail administrator Mou Zhanfu tried to brainwash practitioner Ms. Liu Ziwei but she resisted. Mou Zhanfu then hung Ms. Liu by her left hand from a pine tree near the jail. Because Ms. Liu Ziwei is short and could not touch the lowest branch, Mou Zhanfu placed two bricks under her feet to hang her up. Ms. Liu still refused to give in, so Mou Zhanfu kicked away the bricks under her feet and Ms. Liu was left dangling in the air. She hung there for half an hour in the freezing weather. Her handcuffs dug into her flesh, causing the muscles to cramp and leaving deep scars. Her left arm lost all feeling for half a year.

In the summer of 2002, the "Plastic Tube Jail" area tried to brainwash Ms. Liu Ziwei. As a way to "influence" inmates and arouse inmate hatred against her, jail officials deprived jail inmates of any free time after their work and forced the inmates to sit on the cold ground until 10 p.m. This produced hatred and instigated the criminals to beat Ms. Liu.

Case 3: Policemen Joined Forces with Criminals to Do Violence

On March 1, 2002, while Mr. Yin Lizhu was detained in Tiebei Jail, he read Master's articles. Jail inmates grabbed them away from him and gave them to Warden Li Jun. Mr. Yin asked for the articles back, but Li Jun refused. Mr. Yin said, "They are mine. Why don't you give them back to me?" When Mr. Yin tried to take the articles back, Li Jun, who was drinking at the time, beat Mr. Yin's face. Criminals Li Yanzhe, Wang Jinshan and Wang Hongliang then beat Mr. Yin to the ground.

On the morning of March 2, practitioner Mr. Zhang Hongwei heard about this and intended to accompany Mr. Yin to the jail's administration office to report the incident. Li Jun feared that his violent behavior would be exposed, so he instigated criminals to stop the practitioners. They dragged Mr. Zhang away and held him. In the afternoon the practitioners were finally able to report the case. At this time 12 practitioners also strongly demanded that the jail administration investigate this issue and punish Li Jun and the criminals. Family members of the practitioners reported this issue to Jilin Jail Administration Bureau, pointing out that Li Jun was drinking on the job and had led criminals to beat practitioners. In order to cover up his crimes, Li Jun persuaded the administration office to transfer Zhang Hongwei to Jilin Jail. Mr. Zhang was the first practitioner to be transferred to Jilin Jail.

Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Wang Yin's Family's Fruitless Requests for Her Release

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wang Yin's family went to the Jilin City National Security Bureau (NSB) to demand her release right after they heard that she was arrested again. Initially, some personnel leaked the information, but later they tried to deny it. At last, they had to admit that they did arrest Ms. Wang. It is not known where Ms. Wang and the three other practitioners who were also arrested were taken.

    On December 13, 2005, between 7:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. personnel from Jilin

City NSB arrested Ms. Wang Yin and three other practitioners. As soon as Ms. Wang's family members heard of this, they went to the Jilin City NSB at 11:00 p.m. and demanded her release. The guard at the gate said he had not heard of this incident. Later, with strong requests from the family, the guard had to make a phone call to those inside. The family heard him on the phone, "Her family came to demand her release. What do we do?" After the call, he told the family there was no such incident. After standing in the cold outside the Jilin City NSB gate for a long time, Ms. Wang's six family members, including her 72-year-old mother, finally had to leave for home.

The next morning at 8:15, before people at the Jilin City NSB arrived for work, eleven family members went there again to demand Ms. Wang's release. The guard at the gate said nobody was in yet. But with strong requests again, security group chief Qian let Ms. Wang's family in. The family demanded Ms. Wang's release because they didn't want her to be persecuted. Section chief Qian said, "The Security Bureau doesn't beat people. Last night Ms. Wang didn't cooperate. They didn't handcuff her." Qian said several times, "Go back home. You won't see her today. Anyway, she is not in this building." The family asked, "If she is not here, where is she then?" Qian said, "I know but I can't tell you. If I tell you, I won't have a job any more."

Around noon, Qian again told the family to leave and to let him have their phone number so he could let them know if there was anything new. After thorough consideration, the family didn't think they could leave without any results. They bought some fast food for lunch. While she was eating, Ms. Wang's mother's tears kept dropping into her plate, which made everybody very sad. After lunch, the family still did not get any response. With the family's urging, around 3:00 p.m. the guard called again to the building. Later a group chief named Li talked to the family through the window, "No one by that name is being held here. Go back home!"

At 3:10 p.m. two police cars arrived at the NSB. The guard said they were from a police station. Three people came out of the cars and went into the building with police chief Li. One of the people who had arrived was the Dongjuzi Police Station chief Gao Yang, who asked Ms. Wang's family why they came there. Ms. Wang's family said that they heard from the guard and section chief Qian that the NSB had arrested Ms. Wang. They wanted to know where she was, but they never got a response from the NSB. Police chief Li said immediately that their information was wrong. Gao Yang thought the family's request was reasonable and said he was going to check. Not too long after, he came back and said the NSB said no one by that name was being held there. The family reiterated what happened the night before regarding the phone call the guard made, what they heard that morning and the denial from the NSB that afternoon. After Gao Yang heard this, he said he would go ask again.

At 3:40 p.m. Gao Yang and police chief Li went back to the guard's office. Li said he had asked about this. Something like that had indeed happened yesterday, but they were just helping other units handle the case. They had already sent the arrested people away that same night. Ms. Wang's family asked Li, "Which unit did you help? Wouldn't the NSB have all the authority?" Li smiled and didn't deny anything. For the whole day they didn't give the family any answers. Instead, they often checked with the guard to see if the family left or how many of the family members were still there.

Later, when the family asked how to contact them and asked for Qian and Li's cell phone numbers, they said they were afraid of giving the family their numbers and names. They said if they gave them out, the family would put them on Internet.

Fellow practitioners: please collect more persecution evidence, so we can expose the evil persecution and clarify the truth. We should make the best use of our time to expose the evildoers and rescue the fellow practitioners. Fellow practitioners can also help families to demand practitioners' release.

Wang Zhiqiang (Section Chief), who, on July 17, 2005, along with his subordinates, ransacked Ms. Wang Yin's mother's home.

The Details of Ms. Wang Yin's persecution:

Ms. Wang Yin, 36 years old, is a college graduate and was an employee of the Jilin City Radiation Chemical Industry Company. On July 15, 2005, her company had to dismiss her under pressure from the NSB. Ms. Wang benefited physically and mentally after she began to practice Falun Gong in 1997. After the persecution started on July 20, 1999, she was detained for five days because she was doing the exercises by the river. On the third day in the first lunar month of 2001, she was arrested when going to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Gong and was incarcerated for one year in the Jiutai Forced Labor Camp. The police, using electric batons, shocked her for three consecutive hours. Her neck was covered with bruises and swelled up.

After being brutally persecuted in the Jiutai Forced Labor Camp, she was transferred to Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp to continue the persecution. Because she didn't give up her beliefs, didn't cooperate with the evildoers and went on a hunger strike to protest against the persecution, she was tied to a "dead person's bed." They brutally force-fed her salt water through a tube they inserted into her nose. On the fourth day, they inserted the tube incorrectly and the salt water entered her lungs. She immediately lost consciousness and was sent to the hospital emergency room. While in the Security Bureau hospital, Ms. Wang was very weak. Even when she was on the brink of the death, they still tied her arms and legs to the bed. The prisoners who were monitoring her even slapped her on her face. The Security Bureau hospital didn't notify the family until they realized the gravity of her weakness.

On December 30, 2002, the 610 Office and the Police Substation in the Gaoxing District arrested Ms. Wang at work and took her to a brainwashing center. She went on a hunger strike to resist the persecution and was able to escape later.

On July 15, 2005 perpetrators from Jilin City NSB tried to arrest Ms. Wang. She opened her window to clarify the truth to the perpetrators and to her neighbors. They then called a "110 emergency response" police van. Police from the local precinct wanted to break in and arrest her, but agents from the "110" team and from the police precinct left after they heard the facts. Ms. Wang was again able to walk away. The same day, a manager in the sales division in Ms. Wang's company just said casually to her that the NSB was looking for her. Just because of that, the NSB agents arrested the manager, accusing her of leaking "state secrets."

The people from the NSB didn't let it go at that. They continued to harass Ms. Wang's family. They tricked Ms. Wang's mother into opening the door, claiming they were collecting for the water bill. They ransacked her home and took Ms. Wang's personal belongings away. They then put pressure on Ms. Wang's employers and made them dismiss her. Ms. Wang Yin left her home. On December 13, the NSB arrested her.
