Ms. Liu Guiying, a 43-year-old Falun Gong practitioner from Mishan, Heilongjiang Province, was an employee of the Mishan Cement Products Plants. Because someone reported her to the local police department in March 2002, she and another practitioner were arrested while she was walking down a street. Ms. Liu was held in the Mishan Detention Center where she died from force-feeding on October 24, 2002. Against the wishes of her family, her body was cremated on October 26, 2002. This is her story.

In May 2002, the police attempted to put Ms. Liu Guiying into the Harbin Drug Rehabilitation Center, in order to persecute her. Because she had high blood pressure, the Center refused to accept her. Policeman Liu Xiaohu and others rented a hotel room and locked the handcuffed Liu Guiying in the room. On the way back to Mishan City, Ms. Liu's blood pressure was even higher. She became extremely weak physically and her life was in danger. Agent Liu Xiaohu was afraid of being held responsible for her death and made false promises to her, "You should hold on. We'll let you go free once we get back and waive all your earnest money." When they got back to Mishan, Liu Xiaohu actually delivered practitioner Ms. Liu to a detention center. They ordered her to pay all of the Harbin trip expenses, including items the police officers had purchased for themselves, the hotel expenses and other things, amounting to nearly 4,000 yuan. In the meantime, the police station's Political and Security Section demanded 4,000 yuan in earnest money. Ms. Liu's family was unable to pay this amount of money, so the authorities planned to imprison her long term.

On October 13, Liu Guiying, along with practitioner Yang Hailing and other practitioners totaling 10 altogether, started a hunger strike to protest the illegal detention, and requested their unconditional release. The detention center refused to release them. On the morning of October 22, the detention center officials forcibly sent the practitioners to the Mishan People's Hospital. Hospital administrator Zhao Shuguang himself, along with five or six others, pressed on Ms. Liu's feet and arms. They pushed five soft plastic tubes into her mouth and nostrils and poured in powdered milk, high-density salt solution and drugs. It was a very cruel procedure. Yang Hailing and other Falun Gong practitioners were confined to their hospital bed by handcuffs and shackles while being force-fed. Detention center head Ma Baosheng threatened, "If you continue the hunger strike, we will let the male prisoners take care of you while you use the restroom."

At noon, Ms. Liu Guiying's complexion became pale and she was in great pain. These symptoms are typical of food having entered the lungs. One warden noticed something was wrong with her, checked her pulse, and went to report to Ma Baosheng, "She is really not all right." One policeman said, "Let's carry her into a car." Ma Baosheng said, "No! I would lose too much face! Let her walk by herself!" Liu Guiying had to crawl first and then slowly walk to the car with both hands holding onto a wall.

Ms. Liu was given oxygen in the hospital. By then she was bleeding from her mouth. On October 24, 2002, having suffered nine months' of torture, Ms. Liu Guiying died without getting a chance to say a last word to her family members or her children.

With orders from the Political and Security Section and detention center head Ma Baosheng, the Mishan People's Hospital issued a "death certificate" indicating that Ms. Liu had died from a stroke and kidney failure. It covered up Ma Baosheng and Zhao Shuguang's crime of murder. The police department tightly blocked the information of Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Liu Guiying's death. The Political and Security Section personnel kept people away from her body and didn't let any of her family members see her.

Ma Baosheng was afraid of being held responsible for the murder. He told her family members that the detention center would pay all expenses related to her death. But after Liu Guiying's cremation, Ma Baosheng's openly showed his scoundrel face again. He refused to be responsible for any expenses! Later, Ms. Liu's family members went to Jixi to appeal, but because there was "not enough evidence," the appeal was dropped. The hospital had a complete record of all evidence, since all the people who participated in the forced feeding were witnesses.

Ma Zongtao, a member of the Junan County 610 Office in Linyi City, Shandong Province, followed the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and Jiang Zemin's criminal group in persecuting Falun Gong since July 1999. He is the main perpetrator responsible for the persecution of Falun Gong in Junan County. Ma Zongtao, Liu Xipeng, and Lu Xiutian from the Junan County 610 Office used various base means to persecute practitioners including savage beatings and cruel torture. They are vicious and unscrupulous. Below are only a few examples of their crimes.

Practitioner Ms. Han Guangmei Savagely Beaten for an Entire Night Until She Was at the Brink of Death

Ms. Han Guangmei from Nanshiqiao Village, Junan County was illegally arrested on November 26 along with 18 other practitioners. Ma Zongtao beat Ms. Han for an entire night until she was at death's door and could not move her body. Her left leg was about twice the size as her right leg. Ma Zongtao said in a menacing voice, "I will certainly beat you to death tonight."

On the evening of November 26, 2005, personnel from the Junan County 610 Office surrounded the home of Falun Gong practitioner Zhang Yaqin from Xujiahuangzhuang Village, and arrested 19 practitioners who were holding an experience-sharing conference. Dozens of personnel from the Junan County 610 Office in seven 110 Emergency Response cars and one Fiat bus first surrounded and then broke into Zhang Yaqin's home. Ma Zongtao was the first to barge inside. He quickly locked the front gate and blocked the entrance to the living room. He said shamelessly, "Tonight, we'll listen to the beautiful Yang Guangzhen as the lecturer." He said some vulgar words and proceeded to touch Yang Guangzhen's face.

Ma Zongtao then used his cell phone to call more personnel outside the home. The perpetrators jumped on the 19 practitioners like a pack of hungry wolves, and they dragged the practitioners into the bus and took them to the 110 Emergency Response Office in west Junan County. The address of this location is unknown. At the office, Ma Zongtao called practitioner Ms. Han Guangmei from Nanshiqiao Village into a north room. He slapped her face four times right after she stepped into the room. He then handcuffed her hands behind her back, forced her to sit on a chair and illegally interrogated her.

Ma Zongtao said very insulting and indecent things. Han Guangmei refused to cooperate with his villainous interrogation. At 8:30 p.m., Ma Zongtao found a rubber club that is used to beat inmates, and he savagely beat her with it. Ma Zongtao hit Ms. Han's ankles, thighs and calves and threatened, "I'll beat you to death tonight."

Another perpetrator was also in the room. He held Han Guangmei down so she could not move her feet to avoid the beating. Because Han Guangmei would not give any information, the two persecutors walked behind her and abruptly yanked up on her handcuffs, which caused her to scream and cry in pain. A cracking sound was emitted from her body and she almost passed out.

Ma Zongtao grabbed Han Guangmei's hair and banged her head against the wall numerous times until she became disoriented, and several bumps the size of grapefruits appeared on her head. Despite the torture she went through, Ms. Han Guangmei kindly said to Ma Zongtao, "I've never treated you wrong, don't assist the evil to persecute good people. Do something good for a change! Save an escape route for yourself!"

Ma Zongtao, who at this point is completely devoid of human nature, not only refused to listen to her, but screamed, "The Communist Party is my father! I'll beat you to death today, for sure! I couldn't fully vent my spite even if I sliced a thousand or 10,000 pieces of flesh off of you."

Ma beat and tortured Han Guangmei for an entire night. In the end, he took the handcuffs off of Han Guangmei and was scared at the sight of her deformed hands, and he stopped torturing her.

It was nearly 6:00 a.m. by then. Han Guangmei's back, legs and feet were black and blue and almost all of her body was covered with wounds. She could not stand up and she cried in pain. The other 18 practitioners were forced to sit on the cold cement ground for the whole night.

After dawn, the perpetrators took the practitioners to the Junan County Detention Center. Two officers dragged Han Guangmei out of the car, and the authorities from the detention center saw that she was heavily wounded and in critical condition. They asked, "Who beat her up like this? That's too much! We can't take her in this condition." Han Guangmei groaned and said, "Ma Zongtao beat me." The detention center authorities asked Ma Zongtao, "Did you beat her?" Ma Zongtao answered, "Yes I did." The authorities said, "Then you should take her to the hospital for a physical exam and medical imaging." Ma Zongtao drove Han Guangmei to Chinese Medicine Hospital in Junan County. Ma Zongtao, who is brawny, dragged Ms. Han Guangmei up and down the stairs for medical imaging. He took her back to the detention center and told the authorities that she was not hurt. The authorities reluctantly accepted her.

The practitioners were forced to sit on the cold cement floor, and they were not allowed to use the cotton quilts sent by their families. The detention center authorities claimed that they bought quilts that cost 60 yuan each for all detainees. The weather was balmy the evening of October 25, and the practitioners who had gone to the experience sharing conference wore only one layer of clothing. On the third day of their detention, the temperature dropped to - 46 ⁰F. Han Guangmei, with her severely traumatized body, was also forced to stay on the icy cement floor for about four days until her legs swelled up and she developed diarrhea and vomiting. She eventually lost consciousness.

The guards didn't try to revive her. Instead, they ordered some others to drag her out. All detainees at the women's division cried out loud, which compelled the authorities to find four people to carry Ms. Han to the Chinese Medicine Hospital across the street from the detention center. The doctor resuscitated her and gave her an IV infusion. Because this was the first time that Han Guangmei was sent to the hospital while being held at the detention center, the detention center authorities were afraid of being held responsible should she die. Therefore they brought over officials from the Junan County Procuratorate, who inspected and recorded Han Guangmei's wounds. Han Guangmei truthfully recounted the beating and torture Ma Zongtao administered for a whole night, and they wrote it all down.

After receiving an IV infusion, Han Guangmei, who was still in critical condition, was sent back to the detention center. She was held for 20 days, from October 26 until November 16. She was treated in the emergency room three times during this period. During her last hospital visit, the doctor said she was in serious condition and could die if she was not hospitalized. The veins in her leg atrophied, and she also suffered from periostitis. The Junan County 610 Office paid 2,200 yuan for Ms. Han to be hospitalized, and they filled out the paperwork. They told her family about her hospital stay on the next day.

Ma Zongtao said to Han Guangmei's family, "We decided to release Han Guangmei on one-year medical parole, and we just released her." Ma Zongtao did all the procedures. Han Guangmei's family doesn't know Ma Zongtao, so they asked if it was he who broke Ms. Han's legs. Ma lied and said that he hadn't, and said that Ms. Han injured her legs by accidentally hitting the car door when she was getting in a car.

When Han Guangmei's family went to see her, they found that she could not move. Her left leg was so badly swollen that she could not even put on pants. Her feet were even more swollen. Every time the doctor came to check her, he told the nurse that Ms. Han needed intensive care. He said she should not move at all, as otherwise her life would be in big danger.

Persecutors Arrest Practitioners, Brutally Beat Practitioner Cui Jianai; Her Young Daughter is Left Without Care

On August 12, 2005, agents from the 610 Office, including Ma Zongtao, arrested six practitioners including Ji Xingshu, in his 60s, Ji Xingcai, in his 60s, Peng Xiuzhan, in his 50s, and Li Baoshan, 43 years old. Practitioner Cui Jianai from Duojuguanzhuang Village was arrested later. Ji Xingshu, Ji Xingcai, Peng Xiuzhan, Li Baoshan and Cui Jianai have been "illegally sentenced" to forced labor. Cui Jianai's husband Wang Houling, 41, had by then already been held at the Wangcun Forced Labor Camp for more than two years. After Cui Jianai's arrest, their ten-year-old daughter was left at home alone, without care. Li Baoshan was arrested, leaving his 82-year-old father and seven-year-old daughter at home. Li Baoshan's wife Qian Jinhua has been staying away from home for more than two years to avoid arrest.

After Cui Jianai's arrest, Ma Zongtao and another police officer handcuffed her and hung her up. They then beat her until they were close to breaking her ribs and she had difficulty breathing due to the pain. Three months later, Cui Jianai still had a scar on her wrist that was about 2 inches long and 0.8 inch deep.

Persecutors Beat Practitioner Chen Xinxia from Tugou Village, Shizilu Town Until Her Mouth Filled With Blood

On May 11, 2005, Ma Zongtao and other perpetrators ransacked the homes of practitioners Chen Xinxia, Xiao Mingxia, Sun Li, Yan Xia and Zhao Erhua from Tugou Village in Shizilu Town, and arrested them. On June 1, Chen Xinxia and Xiao Mingxia were illegally sent to a labor camp in Jinan City, but neither practitioner passed the physical exam due to the long-term torture they had suffered after being illegally arrested. Persecutors, including Liu Xipeng, bribed the labor camp authorities who eventually accepted Xiao Mingxia. Chen Xinxia was sent home because she was diagnosed with Hepatitis B.

When Chen Xinxia was taken to the police department, Ma Zongtao started torturing her after he ate. He stomped on Chen Xinxia's toes with his hard boots, kicked her to the floor and stepped on her thighs with his boots and shamelessly said, "You are so soft." He also handcuffed her wrists behind her back and lifted her arms upwards. Ma Zongtao beat Chen Xinxia for a while. Then he left, and on his return he beat her again.

Chen Xinxia later was held at a detention center. The authorities interrogated her the following afternoon. They dragged her outside. Outside the front gate, Ma Zongtao and a woman were waiting for Chen Xinxia. They called for her but she didn't move. The guards left after they took Chen Xinxia outside. Ma Zongtao walked up to Chen Xinxia and beat and kicked her, forcing her to walk with him. They took her inside a room where Chen Xinxia was forced to sit on a chair. They stomped on her toes and used a steel wire to whip her left calf, her left foot and her right thigh.

Chen Xinxia felt she could not clarify the truth to her tormenters, so she kept silent. The brutes could not get any information from her, so they fabricated things to write in the police record. During the second interrogation, a man named Chen Xin was present to take photos and the woman guard was changed. This time Ma Zongtao found a dirty belt and he wiped it on Chen Xinxia's back. He put the belt on a table. He turned around and slapped Chen Xinxia's face until her mouth filled with blood. He didn't stop slapping her until Chen Xin shouted from the outer room that photos must be taken. After Chen Xin took photos, Ma Zongtao hit Chen Xinxia's feet with the side of the belt. Chen Xin took the belt and whipped Chen Xinxia's face and calves until her calves became misshapen. Her calves had not recovered even more than 20 days later. Chen Xin said, "If you won't tell us what we want to know, then anything you suffer is all your fault! We'll sentence you to three years of forced labor."

On June 1, Chen Xinxia was sent to the Jinan Forced Labor Camp along with Xiao Mingxia. The following is what happened to Xiao Mingxia: At around 11:00 a.m. on May 11, the perpetrators found some Falun Gong books and an MP3 player in Xiao Mingxia's home and carried her to a car. They asked her for the source of the books and beat her when she refused to tell them. They forced her to sit on the cold concrete floor. Xiao Mingxia refused to cooperate with the perpetrator's unreasonable demands and refused to eat. The captors coerced her to eat. After 21 days of incarceration at the Yishui Detention Center they sent her to a forced labor camp in Jinan City without due process. Because of Xiao Mingxia's poor health however, the Junan County 610 Office agents had to bribe the labor camp authorities, who then accepted her. Xiao Mingxia was illegally sentenced to two years of forced labor.

The authorities refused to take Chen Xinxia because she was diagnosed with Hepatitis B.

Qian Jinhua Beaten with a Rubber Club, Her Leg Injured

Ms. Qian Jinhua is a practitioner around 40 years of age who lived in Pengjiashigou Village in Dadian Town, Junan County. She started practicing Falun Gong in July 1998. Before practicing Falun Gong, she had heart palpitations, anemia, low blood pressure, neurasthenia, gastroptosis and gynecological problems. All of her illnesses disappeared soon after she started the Falun Gong practice, and her family life became harmonious. She learned how to be a good person according to Falun Gong. Once when she stumbled on some money in the street, she looked for the owner for over a month and returned the money to him.

On the evening of November 18, 2000 [Chinese lunar calendar], Qian Jinhua and other Falun Gong practitioners went to other villages to clarify the truth. Someone who was deceived by the Chinese Communist regime's anti-Falun Gong propaganda reported them. The practitioners were arrested and detained at the Dadian Police Department.

On November 19, Lu Xiutian and Ma Zongtao led a few perpetrators and ransacked Ms. Qian's home and took away all of the Falun Gong materials, books and a recorder. In feudal China, the whole family would be punished [by association] for the crime of an individual, but now the whole village, town and even county is punished for a person who practices Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance. The former village Party secretary Zhang Pengxiang was frightened and spent 300 "yuan" on a feast to treat Lu Xiutian and Ma Zongtao. After they were full, Ma Zongtao forced Qian Jinhua to sit on the concrete floor and beat and cursed her. He tried to coerce her to give the source of the truth clarification materials. She refused to tell, so they hit her legs with a rubber club until a huge bump appeared on the front of one of her legs. They verbally assaulted her as they beat her, hitting her after each sentence. They also forcibly bent her toes backwards. Qian Jinhua's body trembled in pain and she could barely stand up.

Ma Zongtao ordered Lu Xiutian to shock her with electric batons. Bumps then appeared on her face and cheeks. Li Mi from the Dadian Police Department beat her with rubber clubs. They saw that they could not get what they wanted, so they detained Qian Jinhua for 15 days and extorted a 320-yuan "food fee" and a 20-yuan deposit from her. Ms. Qian was the mother of a two-year-old child.

Perpetrators Beat Practitioner Han Guanglian's Injured Legs Until She Could Not Stand Up Straight and was Forced to Crawl Along the Ground

Han Guanglian is the younger sister of Han Guangmei, mentioned previously in this article.

Han Guanglian lived in Wenshuiquan Village in Shizilu Town, Junan County. She is in her 40s. Someone introduced her to Falun Gong in late 1998. She was cured of many minor illnesses through Falun Gong practice and her temperament improved, as did her relationship with her family. She got along with her mother-in-law and always conducted herself according to Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance.

At around 1:00 p.m. on November 17, 1999 [Chinese lunar calendar], Han Guanglian and her husband were doing household chores when a dozen perpetrators from the Chengdong Police Department, as well as Lu Xiutian and Yang Qizheng from the Junan County Police Department ransacked her home.

They rummaged through all of her furniture and found some Falun Gong truth clarification materials. They took Ms. Han to the Chengdong Police Department, arriving there at about 3:30 p.m. They forced her to sit on the concrete floor with her legs outstretched, and to hold her arms out parallel to her legs. Lu Xiutian brought a rubber club used to beat inmates and started beating Han Guanglian. He hit the area below her knees. Another four perpetrators including Xu Tianzhong stood on both sides of Ms. Han and beat her continuously. They asked her about the source of the truth clarification materials. Lu Xiutian beat Han Guanglian with a rubber club, and Xu Tianzhong burned her hands with a cigarette. She raised her hands to avoid the flame. Xu Tianzhong burned the back of her hands. When she lowered her hands, he burned her palms.

About four perpetrators then jumped on Han Guanglian. They beat and kicked her. Some stood on her feet and pushed down with all their strength. Han Guanglian became bruised on many parts of her body and sweated profusely from pain. The brutes made her take off her coat and then continued to beat her. Lu Xiutian struck her legs with all his might with the rubber club. The rubber club broke. He used the club handle to hit Han Guanglian's head and shoulders until 8:00 p.m.

The perpetrators were exhausted and hungry, so they left to eat dinner.

Han Guanglian could not stand up. Lu Xiutian said to her in a menacing voice, "Tomorrow I'll skin you and pull out all your tendons."

To avoid another day of savage beating, Han Guanglian ran out of the police department despite the terrible pain she was experiencing. She could not return home, so she went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong.

About eight days later, Chengdong Police Department agents took her back. They sent Ms. Han directly to a detention center. Her legs were dark purple. All the inmates in the women's division cried and said, "Even we real criminals didn't get beatings such as the one you received."

Two days into the detention, Ma Zongtao interrogated Han Guanglian. He made her sit on the floor and stretch out her legs. He picked up a rectangular wooden club about two feet long and hit the areas on her feet that were heavily wounded. He used the edge of the club to hit her. Ms. Han felt as if she was being chopped with a knife. He beat her for the entire morning. After the beating she could not stand up and crawled back to the cell. All of the inmates cried out loud. She could not put on her pants because her legs were severely swollen. It took at least two people to carry her to the restroom. She was released after her family was forced to pay 1,000 yuan "guarantee" money.

What is recounted above is only limited information about the cruel persecution of a few Falun Gong practitioners by savage perpetrators including Ma Zongtao. Further details of severe persecution and abuse of more practitioners is currently unknown due to the information blockade. It is clear that Ma Zongtao and other brutes have unscrupulously operated outside the law in this persecution and are grossly abusing and tormenting their fellow villagers in pursuit of personal interest!

The righteous will defeat the evil! Violence and coercion will never change justice and goodness. We hereby warn Ma Zongtao and other villains to stop assisting the evildoers and save an escape route for your future. If you ignore Falun Gong practitioners' kind advice, you are gambling with your lives and happiness for the benefit of the corrupt evil Communist Party and Jiang Zemin. When retribution for ignoring heavenly principles becomes evident and punishment by law arrives, it will be too late for regrets.

You clearly know that this persecution that Jiang Zemin launched constitutes severe violation of the Constitution of China and the criminal law code. By assisting the evildoers and persecuting the innocent, you have committed illegal search and seizure, illegal detention, extorting confessions under torture and obtaining evidence through the use of violence. Right now, a wave of lawsuits abroad has been launched against Jiang Zemin. Almost 7 million people have quit their membership in the evil Chinese Communist Party. The global trial of Jiang Zemin is imminent. If you don't immediately stop and make up for your crimes, severe legal punishment will await you

Former principal Chen Huamin of Douhudi Elementary School in Gongan County, Hunan Province has aggressively cooperated with the county's 610 Office director Liao Xuesheng (current leader of the National Security Group) and helped in brutally persecuting Falun Gong practitioners. He tried to force over 20 teachers from the elementary school to give up practicing Falun Gong. They (Chen and others) confiscated the practitioners' Falun Gong books, Teacher's photos, Falun Gong audiotapes and videos and threw them on the floor to be destroyed later. Because practitioner Ms. Zhang Lieju refused to give up her belief and practice, Chen tried to frame her and sent people to follow her and report her. When she was not home at times, he sent people to harass her and take away her Falun Gong books, Teacher's photos, sitting-meditation cushions and other items.

One day in March 2000, Ms. Zhang Lieju was teaching a class. Chen Huamin harassed her in front of all her students. Ms. Zhang was shocked and angry. Before then, Zhang Lieju had clarified the truth several times to Chen. But Chen said, "I'm not a practitioner. I don't need to pay attention to virtue."

Chen Huamin also fabricated the story that Falun Gong had caused Zhang Lieju to lose her mind and suffer a mental disorder and to practice and meditate in the classroom. He made up a hoax by saying that he heard this from students' parents. He also accused Ms. Zhang as "not being responsible to students." Previously, Chen had often praised Ms. Zhang Lieju, "I never need to follow up on the work I give Ms. Zhang Lieju." Ms. Zhang used to be praised as an excellent teacher in her district. After she started practicing Falun Gong, she also attended nationwide honorary conferences for top performers. But overnight, she was framed as suffering from mental disease, and this caused a negative effect on Falun Gong. Since then, wherever she went, people always tried to avoid her.

What's even worse, was that in front of Ms. Zhang Lieju's family and relatives, Chen acted as if he cared for Ms. Zhang. Behind her back, he spread rumors that the Security Bureau would sentence her. He said that if the family could get a doctor's notice, she wouldn't be sentenced. The family was deceived by his false kindness and took Ms. Zhang Lieju to Sha City. Thus, Ms. Zhang Lieju was forcibly locked up and brutally tortured in the Sha City Mental Hospital. She was injected with drugs that damage the central nervous system. She felt weak and was fidgety and she was nauseous whenever she saw food. She couldn't fall asleep. Ms. Zhang Lieju was tied to a bed and couldn't move. She was locked up with over 20 other patients who had severe mental illnesses. She was forced to wear a uniform for mentally ill patients. If Ms. Zhang didn't follow orders, she would be injected with drugs. In this way, Ms. Zhang was brutally tortured and persecuted.

Later on, when Ms. Zhang Lieju escaped from the Sha City Mental Hospital and went back to school, the students all came to her and said, "Teacher Zhang, where did you go? We missed you so much. If you don't teach us piano, we don't want to learn it any more."

Later, Chen gave policeman Liao Xuesheng a fake case history of Ms. Zhang, which gave the evil an excuse to severely persecute her. The authorities held three sessions of brainwashing classes and arrested practitioners without any valid reason. They ransacked practitioners' homes and hired policemen to beat up practitioners. Several practitioners were forcibly sent to mental hospitals. The authorities claimed that they would spend a hundred thousand yuan in mental hospitals on Falun Gong practitioners.

The longest time Ms. Zhang Lieju was persecuted was when she was locked up in the mental hospital for two and a half months. She was brutally persecuted and tortured. They tried to force her to "transform." Several times, Ms. Zhang was at the brink of death. Every day, she was locked in the patients' room and was tortured both mentally and physically, 24 hours a day. Every day, she was tied to a bed and couldn't move her body. Every 5 or 6 hours, hospital staff injected her with drugs that destroyed her central nervous system and which made her lose control of her bladder. Sometimes they used 5-6 security guards to press Ms. Zhang down to the bed and pry open her mouth with pliers, which caused her mouth and gums to bleed, and forcibly administered drugs into her mouth. The volume of the drug was 10 times more than what they gave to actual mentally ill patients. When Zhang Lieju was at the brink of death, the doctors were afraid of having to take responsibility, so they reported their concern to the 610 Office. But the police said that even if Ms. Zhang died, they would not be responsible for anything.

On one occasion, the person who was assigned by the National Security Group to watch Ms. Zhang reported her. (This was because a poster defaming Falun Gong was destroyed, and they suspected it was done by Zhang Lieju.) More than a dozen 610 Office people went to her home and sent her to Wuhan Brainwashing Center to persecute her brutally. They also sent the false case history that Chen Huamin used to stigmatize practitioners. Zhang Lieju was injected with a large amount of toxic drugs that made her pass out. Police Chief Tian Ming said, "Don't die here and give me trouble!"

In order to try to get rid of Ms. Zhang Lieju, Chen Huamin first tried to make up excuses to frame her and generally made life very difficult for her. Once, right before the summer break, Zhang Lieju was assigned the task of coordinating the rehearsal of a 500-person group exercise. Zhang Lieju spent the whole summer break designing and coordinating the rehearsal. But right after the summer break, she was told that the theme had changed. So she started the project again. After the 3 or 4 classes she taught every day, she spent extra time to design the presentation and used 2 - 3 hours after school to work with the students on the rehearsal. Whether it was holidays or weekends, she devoted all her time to this project. Sometimes, she didn't even have time to cook for her children. She overcame all the difficulties. After two months of hard work, Ms. Zhang's group won first place amongst all seven elementary and middle schools who participated in the competition. However, at the end of the semester, she didn't get any bonus. Chen even claimed that the lessons Ms. Zhang prepared were not enough and he also announced this in writing to the whole school (this was the very first time such an announcement was made at the school). Towards the second half of the second year, after all of Chen's fabricated stories and excuses, he instigated a group of people to have Ms. Zhang laid off. According to school policy, laid-off teachers should get 80% of their salary. But Chen didn't give Ms. Zhang any compensation. After she appealed to high-level leaders about her situation, the leaders wanted to give her the salary. But Chen still tried to cooperate with the evil to cut off her monetary source, which made her life extremely difficult with her raising two children.

Ms. Zhang Lieju was illegally arrested seven times by police officers led by Liao Xuesheng. Every time, they wouldn't release her until she was nearly tortured to death. The authorities also sent people to monitor Ms. Zhang and demanded that she report to her school twice every day. They forced the school to not give back her job, and her salary was limited to only two hundred yuan.

The chief criminals persecuting Falun Gong practitioners in Gongan County are Liao Xuesheng, Xia Yingan, Xiang Xiaoyang, Yuan Danqiang, Zhang Zuyin, and others. Due to their rampant persecution, thirteen Falun Gong practitioners have been illegally detained in forced labor camps and seven practitioners have been illegally sentenced. In April 2005, practitioner Ms. Jiang Hong was sent to the women's forced labor camp for the third time. In December 2005, practitioner Mr. Liu Longping was sent to Jingzhou Brainwashing Center. The misguided authorities have not stopped their evil actions. They even instigated some companies to post posters defaming Falun Gong and Falun Gong Teacher.

I was arrested in 2002 and detained in the Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp, Changchun City, where Falun Gong practitioners were being cruelly persecuted. Here I would like to expose the evil persecution with my own experience.

The Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp has seven teams. It is designated as a "transformation base" for Falun Gong practitioners and also includes those people who have been transferred from other forced labor camps. The No. 5 Team is the so-called "newcomer group." When I was there, there were more than two hundred detainees, which included Falun Gong practitioners and criminals. Since the ward is too tight to hold so many people, some of the detainees have to live in the activity room.

The Falun Gong practitioners in the newcomer group were managed by several criminals designated by the guards. They were forced to take off all their clothes in front of the two hundred detainees; their clothes and luggage were searched. The Falun Gong practitioners were also forced to admit to the crime of "disturbing social order." Otherwise, it resulted in them being tortured. The Falun Gong practitioners also would undergo torture until they were "transformed" as required by the designated criminals. The torture methods included: remaining in a standing position for long periods of time, "taking a shower," sitting on a bench for long periods of time, and squatting while facing a wall for long periods of time. "Taking a shower" is a torture method where cold water is poured over the naked victim, causing the victim to tremble in the cold. Practitioners are also forced to sit on a small, child-size plastic bench without moving for 14 to 16 hours a day. The Falun Gong practitioners were frequently verbally abused and beaten by the criminals. Any disobedience would lead to beatings with electric batons or spiked clubs. Anyone who renounced the practice would reap a small benefit such as being allowed to lie down for a while. Anyone refusing to "transform" would be forced to sit on the bench along with designated criminals, who were incited into hating Falun Gong practitioners by being punished alongside the practitioners. No communication between Falun Gong practitioners was allowed, and violators were beaten. The camp authorities launch "harsh attack" campaigns from time to time in order to assault Falun Gong practitioners physically and spiritually.

During those campaigns, they torture Falun Gong practitioners with clubs, electric batons, rubber sticks, bamboo sticks, pickaxe handles, the "big hang up," etc. The horrible cries of pain from the torture were interwoven with noise from the electric batons. Even practitioners in their seventies were not spared.

Gao, the team head at the management section who is in charge of the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners, is an extremely vicious person who initiates a lot of the persecution. He said, "Those who are not "transformed" in the No. 5 Team will be "transformed" in other teams. Nobody will make it!" Later, I was sent to the No. 3 Team, whose team head was named Chen. He attempted to make me renounce Falun Gong several times, which resulted in frequent beatings. Chen also forced the detainees to finish a seven-day quota of work in three days so that he had more time to torture and brainwash Falun Gong practitioners.

The Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp portrays itself to the outside world as "touching" and "saving" practitioners, claiming that the guards there treat the practitioners "as gently as a breeze." However, they are actually quite vicious. I hope that everyone will pay attention to what is happening there and help stop the persecution.

For the past several years, Daqin City Wuolitun Police Department personnel have persecuted practitioners with brutal methods.

The police hang the practitioners in the air and then take turns through the night extorting "confessions" under torture. They beat the practitioners, deprive them of sleep, and forbid them any food. They handcuff the practitioners so tightly that the handcuffs cut deeply into the flesh. While trying to extort confessions, they beat the practitioners until they lose consciousness, they cover the practitioner's head with a plastic bag, and they put the practitioners behind a door and have several police officers push on the door so hard that the practitioners almost suffocate.

The Wuolitun Police Department was originally the security division of the Daqing Petrochemical Corporation. The current name came from a re-organization and it is now under the direct control of the Daqing City Police Department.

Practitioner Mr. Xu Jishan was a retired employee of the construction company's furnace building subdivision, originally the construction workshop of the machinery service factory at Daqing Petrochemical Corporation. He lived in the residential area under the administration of the Wuolitun Police Department. Mr. Xu Jishan was illegally sentenced to three years of imprisonment in March 2004 for distributing truth clarification materials. He was held in the 7^th Ward of the Hongweixing Prison in Daqing. On June 7, 2005, Mr. Xu died in the prison as a result of severe abuse.

On April 6, 2004, Wuolitun Police Department agents and personnel from the National Security Section from Daqing Petrochemical Corporation and from the Wuolitun Street Police Station dispatched numerous officers. They arrested practitioners Han Jianju, Mr. Liu Fenglin and his wife, Chuai Jie, and Mr. Gao Yujie and his wife, Zhu Huaying. Later, Ms. Chuai Jie and Mr. Gao Yujie were released and the other practitioners were transferred to the Procuratorate.

On the morning of June 30, 2004, Daqing City Longfeng District Court opened an illegal trial session of practitioners Mr. Liu Fenglin, Ms. Zhu Huaying and Han Jianju. Han Jianju and Liu Fenglin were sentenced to four years of imprisonment. Ms. Zhu Huaying was sentenced to three years of forced labor.

On July 24, 2002, agents from the Wuolitun Police Department broke into the homes of elderly practitioners Wang Shuqin and Mr. Cui Hongyi and arrested them. The two practitioners were both sentenced to three years of imprisonment on fabricated charges. Wang Shuqin was tortured to death later in the Daqing City Detention Center, on September 21, the night before the Mid-Autumn Festival. Before this arrest, Wang Shuqin had been sentenced to one year of forced labor in the Shuanghe Forced Labor Camp in Qiqihaer City. Mr. Cui Hongyi was imprisoned in the Hongweixing Prison and he was released three years later at the end of his term. He had also been sentenced to one year of forced labor before and was detained in the Daqing Forced Labor Camp.

For the past several years, many practitioners from the Daqing Ethylene Factory have been persecuted and sentenced to forced labor. Between 2000 and 2001, Song Shanfeng was sentenced to one year of forced labor; Li Chunying was sentenced to one year; Sun Ailing, one year; Yang Xiuli, one year; Cui Yumei, one year; Cui Yubo, one year the first time and three years the second time; Yuan Qing, one year; Ren Xiulan one year; and Liu Shujie, one year. Practitioners were also sentenced to prison. Wuolitun Police Department personnel carried out all these deprivations of freedom. These agents still continue to persecute practitioners, illegally detaining and falsely charging them.

Falun Gong practitioners who work for the Daqing Ethylene Factory, including Liu Wanji, Zhao Yumei, Han Yunhua and Zhao Qinglin, were transferred to the Procuratorate on November 21. Wuolitun Police Department agents had arrested them between October 18 and 24, 2005. The practitioners were then detained for over a month. During this period, the practitioners' families went repeatedly to the bureaus and organizations handling their cases to demand their relatives' release. The police, headed by Zhang Yiqing, the deputy commissioner of the police department, deceived the practitioners' families. The police promised to release the practitioners, but they did not actually release them. They only tried to sweet-talk the practitioners' families. After other practitioners kept going to the Procuratorate to clarify the truth, the arrested practitioners were finally all released on November 30. At the time of their release, Wuolitun Police Department extorted 5,000 yuan from each of the practitioners' families and did not issue any receipts. One practitioner's family members are practitioners themselves and did not cooperate with the extortion.

Zhang Yiqing, the deputy commissioner of the Wuolitun Police Department, is responsible for the arrests of practitioners and was the main instigator in the above-mentioned cases.

A Falun Gong practitioner, Ms. Wang Hongyan is physically disabled. In August of 2005, she was illegally arrested and taken to the Jiamusi Forced Labor Camp for detention. The camp released her because a physical examination showed that she had bone cancer. Nevertheless, Li Jun, as the leader of the Huanan County National Protection Brigade, still keeps Ms. Wang at the county detention center. He has no intention of allowing her to go home.

Mr. Liu Qing had a similar experience. On November 12, 2005, Li Jun led the members of the local National Security Groupto search Mr. Liu Qing's home. Household items were thrown everywhere and a video player confiscated. On December 28, 2005, Mr. Liu Qing was taken to the Jiamusi Forced Labor Camp. The camp refused to take him, because of his poor physical condition. Li Jun continues to keep Mr. Liu at the county detention center.

Ms. Liu Chunjing practices Falun Gong. At around 8 a.m. on August 10, 2005, Li Jun and associates from the local National Security Group came to her home. At first, only one of them came in, asking her name. Ms Liu, thinking he was a visitor, invited him to sit down. He didn't introduce himself, but he called the others inside. One of them claimed to be Li Jun, but showed no proper ID or legal papers. They searched the house. Ms. Liu's sick husband and her tiny child need her to take care of them. The police took her to Jiamusi City Forced Labor Camp for further persecution, leaving them with no one to care for them. Ms. Liu Jing has been tortured so severely in the camp that she has become extremely feeble. She is unable to stand or sit up without help. She cannot move her legs to walk, nor can she hold anything in her hands.

Mr. Zhou Zhanxian, 67 years old and Ms. Li Xiulan, 60 years old, live on Tiedong Street in Huanan County, Heilongjiang Province and practice Falun Gong. The police arrested them on December 7, 2005. They are still being persecuted in the Huanan County Jail. Mr. Liu Guangyou also practices Falun Gong. He has been detained at the jail since August 2005.

On the morning of October 25, 2005, police officers Sui Fajia and Chen Liwei of the Huanan Public Security's Lixin Police Station arrested a couple who practice Falun Gong, Mr. Lai Yueyou and Ms. Fu Qingxian, at their home. They were forced to leave their four-year-old child alone at home. Nobody knew the child was alone and needed care. Since the persecution began on July 20, 1999, Li Jun of the Huanan National Security Group has illegally arrested and persecuted around 80 people who practice Falun Gong. He has also extorted more than 100,000 yuan from their families. Practitioners continue to clarify the truth about Falun Gong to Li Jun, but he is blinded by thoughts of fame and gain. Li Jun continues to persecute the innocent and even arrests their family members, putting them in the forced labor camp, too. This increases the amount of his reward.

1. [Fushun City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Xu Xigui and His Wife Mrs. Zhang Suli Arrested

On the morning of December 21, 2005, practitioners Mr. Xu Xigui and his wife Mrs. Zhang Suli from Fushun City in Liaoning Province were arrested. Detailed information has yet to be investigated.

2. [Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region] Mr. Wang Desheng Illegally Sentenced to Long-term Imprisonment, His Wife Mrs. Shan Jidan Imprisoned

Practitioner Mr. Wang Desheng previously worked for the Zhongning County Electricity Plant in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. He started practicing Falun Gong in 1993. After the persecution of Falun Gong started on July 20, 1999, Mr. Wang went to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Gong, and was illegally arrested and sentenced to four years of imprisonment. Because Mr. Wang steadfastly practices Falun Gong, he was held in several prisons, where he was brutally tortured and forced to carry out strenuous forced labor. On the very day he was released from prison, Mr. Wang was put into a brainwashing center.

On January 6, 2005, Mr. Wang Desheng was arrested by the Yinchuan City Police Department. In order to force Mr. Wang Desheng to reveal the sites where Falun Gong truth-clarification materials are produced, as well as the whereabouts of other fellow practitioners, the police officers brutally tortured him for ten days. The court recently sentenced Mr. Wang Desheng to eight years of imprisonment. Mr. Wang is being held in the Eighth Division of the Shizuishan Prison (the former Pingluo County Prison).

Practitioner Mrs. Shan Jidan, who is Mr. Wang Desheng's wife, was illegally sentenced to three years of forced labor because she went Beijing to appeal after July 20, 1999. Her release from the forced labor camp was delayed. After Mrs. Shan was released, she was immediately put into a brainwashing center, where she was tortured. Later, Mrs. Shan repeatedly became the target of arrest by the local 610 Office for clarifying the truth and distributing the truth-clarification materials, and therefore had to leave home to avoid being arrested. On November 5, 2004, Mrs. Shan was arrested by the police from the Yongning County Police Department of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, when she was distributing truth-clarification materials. Mrs. Shan was illegally sentenced to three years of imprisonment and currently is being held in the Women's Prison of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region.

3. [Linghai City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Li Lianjun Arrested

The National Security Group of the Dalian City Police Department arrested practitioner Mr. Li Lianjun from Linghai City in Liaoning Province on the evening of December 28, 2005.

4. [Pingdu City, Shandong Province] Ms. Li Junhua and Other Practitioners Illegally Sentenced to Forced Labor

Ms. Li Junhua, 56, is a practitioner from the Liyuan Street of Liuxingtou Village in Pingdu City. Ms. Li was arrested at home on October 29, 2005.

Ms. Feng Yuping, 43, is a practitioner from Xiqigou Village in Mencun Town of Pingdu City. Ms. Feng was reported to the police when she was clarifying the truth at a country fair on October 18, 2005. The police forcibly took her away.

Ms. Guo Chaoqing, 52, is a practitioner from Guanzhuang Village in Mencun Town of Pingdu City. She was forcibly arrested at home by police on October 31, 2005 and taken to the Pingdu City Brainwashing Center where she was tortured.

All three practitioners have been transferred and are currently being held in the Wangcun Forced Labor Camp.

5. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Police Ransack the Home of Mr. Zhou Yeping from Shuangliu County

Practitioner Mr. Zhou Yeping from Shuangliu County of Chengdu City in Sichuan Province is thirty-six years old. On the morning of December 28, 2005, when Mr. Zhou was at work, he was arrested by seven to eight police officers from the local 610 Office and the police station. His house was also ransacked.

6. [Jilin Province] Mr. He Bo from the Jilin City Agriculture University Arrested

Practitioner Mr. He Bo, a staff member from the Humanities Institute of Political Science and Law of the Jilin City Agriculture University, was reported to the police when he was clarifying the truth of Falun Gong and distributing the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party to his colleagues. On December 23, 2005, the Jilin City Agriculture University Police Station arrested Mr. He at work. His current whereabouts are unclear.

7. [Shandong Province] Mr. Ma Mingjun from the Luning Management Office of the Petroleum and Chemical Corporation Tortured at His Workplace

In mid November 2005, practitioner Mr. Ma Mingjun from the Lu'ning Management Office of the Petroleum and Chemical Corporation was reading Falun Gong books on the train and was discovered by police officers, who illegally took him to the Guta Police Station of Zoucheng City in Shandong Province. The Police Station transferred Mr. Ma Mingjun to his work unit. The Management Office of his work unit sent Mr. Ma to his workplace, the Ningyang Pump Station, for "Yan Guan" (Strict Monitoring). The Ningyang Pump Station put Mr. Ma Mingjun under illegal house arrest, not allowing him to go out, go back home, or to meet with his family members.

Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Secretary Wang Liping (male) is also trying to lay off Mr. Ma Mingjun using this as an excuse. He forced Mr. Ma Mingjun to work, but is only paying him 200 yuan as a basic living expense.

8. [Jilin Province] Ms. Liu Chunzhen from the Jingyue Development District of Changchun City Arrested

Practitioner Ms. Liu Chunzhen from Qinjian Village of Yutan Town, in Jingyue Development District of Changchun City, was arrested on the morning of December 24, 2005, by police officers from the Changchun City Agriculture University Police Station when she was distributing Falun Gong truth-clarification materials. Ms. Liu is currently being held in the Daguang District Detention Center. Her fourteen-year-old son, who attends middle school, has been left home alone.

9. [Zhucheng City, Shandong Province] Ms. Liu Jinmei and Ms. Feng Ling Arrested

Practitioner Ms. Liu Jinmei from Shijiazhuangzi Village, Shiqiaozi Town of Zhucheng City in Shandong Province, and Practitioner Ms. Feng Ling from Zhengjiazhuangzi Village, Shiqiaozi Town of Zhucheng City, were both arrested by the police sometime around December 13, 2005, when they went to Shibuzi Town of Anqiu City to distribute Falun Gong truth-clarification materials. They are currently being held in the Anqiu City Detention Center.

Practitioner Ms. Xu Xiuyun from Zhengzhou City in Henan Province is in her sixties. She was reported to the police when she was clarifying the truth in early December, 2005. Ms. Xu is currently being held in the No. 1 Detention Center of Zhengzhou City.

11. [Benxi City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Chen Honglan and Her Daughter Illegally Arrested and Taken to Masanjia Forced Labor Camp

Practitioner Ms. Chen Honglan, her practitioner daughter Ms. Yan Shi, and practitioner Ms. Zhan Guixiang were reported to the police when they were clarifying the truth and distributing truth-clarification materials at a small market of Qianjin Technical School on November 21, 2005. The practitioners were arrested by police from the Jinshan Police Station and also held at the Police Station for one night. Later, the police ransacked Ms. Chen Honglan's House. At the same time, the police took Ms. Zhan Guixiang to search her son's house, but failed to find anything and thus released Ms. Zhan Guixiang. Ms. Chen Honglan and her daughter Ms. Yan Shi were taken to the Ajialing Detention Center of Xing'an County. Recently, these two practitioners were taken to the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp.

12. [Chongqing City] Ms. Kang Hong Arrested by the National Security Group of Jiangbei District Police Department

On December 22, police from the National Security Group of the Jiangbei District Police Department of Chongqing City arrested practitioner Mr. Kang Hong at the Huangguo Garden where he lived. Mr. Kang Hong previously lived with practitioner Mr. Zhang Quanliang, who was arrested by the police on December 7, 2005, near the Guanyin Bridge Station.

13. [Dancheng County, Henan Province] Ms. Cui Suying and Ms. Niu Xiaohong Illegally Arrested

On the evening of December 16, 2005, practitioners Ms. Cui Suying (an elementary school teacher) and Ms. Niu Xiaohong (a farm worker) were reported to the police when they were distributing truth-clarification materials in a neighboring village. They were arrested and taken to the Police Station of Baji Township. At around 10:00 p.m., the CCP political instructor of the Police Station of Baji Township, Ren Hongwei (male), the deputy director, Li (last name, male), and police officer Wang Huanran (male) from the National Security Group of the County Police Department illegally ransacked Ms. Cui Suying's house. At 2:00 a.m. on December 17, 2005, the police put both practitioners into the Dancheng County East Prison. Family members' visits have been prohibited. On the morning of December 18, 2005, the police illegally ransacked Ms. Niu Xiaohong's house again.

On the morning of December 21, 2005, at around 10:00 a.m., a group of police officers from the Shuijing Street Police Station in Jinjiang District of Chengdu City suddenly knocked on the door of practitioner Ms. Chen Qirui's house. Mr. Chen refused to open the door. The police officers broke into his house, arrested Mr. Chen, and also illegally ransacked the house, without following any legal procedures. In the afternoon, the police officers took Mr. Chen Qirui to the Chengdu City Detention Center and held him there as a criminal.

15. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] Mr. Wang Housheng Arrested

On the afternoon of December 30, 2005, practitioner Mr. Wang Housheng from Jinan City was arrested and sent to Yucheng City.

16. [Panjin City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Ning Shaoheng From Dawa County, Forced to Leave Home to Avoid Arrest, Has Been Arrested

Practitioner Mr. Ning Shaoheng from Dawa County, of Panjin City in Liaoning Province was forced to leave home to avoid being arrested. At noon on December 20, 2005, Mr. Ning returned from out of town to place some luggage in his home and then walked out of the building immediately, but was later arrested by the police from the National Security Group of Beining City Police Department. Mr. Ning is currently being held and tortured in the Beining City Detention Center. Mr. Ning Shaoheng has been on a hunger strike for a week to protest the illegal detention.

On the evening of December 20, 2005, police officers from the 610 Office of the Jinshi City, Human Province Police Department broke down the three doors of Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Hu Xiaojun and Ms. Hu Huiling's house. The police barged into their rooms, beat them, and illegally arrested them. At the same time, the police arrested practitioners Ms. Hu Xingyuan, Ms. Gong Liya, Mr. Yang Yanshopu, and Ms. Shen Lazhen and put them into the detention center. These police officers cruelly tortured the practitioners by tying them up with ropes and hanging them up, and mercilessly beating them.
