  • Australia: Practitioners in Melbourne Call on Foreign Minister Downer to Stop Helping the Chinese Communist Party Persecute Falun Gong

On June 23, 2005, Falun Dafa practitioners in Melbourne rallied in front of the federal government building to call on Australian Foreign Minister Alexander Downer to withdraw the restrictions on Falun Gong's peaceful appeals. They held banners reading "Mr. Downer, Please Stop Certificates that Limit the Falun Gong Appeal at Chinese Embassy," "Mr. Downer, Do Not Help the Chinese Communist Party Persecute Falun Gong". They also reenacted torture methods used in China in the persecution and distributed truth-clarification literature.

A practitioner gave a speech at the rally. He said that the rally was held because Mr. Downer still signed certificates forbidding Falun Gong practitioners from displaying any banners or playing recordings in front of the Chinese Embassy. Such a restriction is against Australian law. Based on information provided by former Chinese diplomat Chen Yonglin, there are one thousand Chinese special agents in Australia. The government has done nothing to restrict these agents' harassment of Falun Gong practitioners, yet they hamper practitioners. Australia is the only democratic country in the world that places such restrictions on practitioners. Mr. Chen said during an interview on ABC TV that the Chinese Embassy praised Mr. Downer for signing the certificate. Thus, the practitioner said that Mr. Downer was helping the Chinese Communist regime to persecute Falun Gong. The lawsuit against Mr. Downer is to resolve the issue completely.

One Australian man passing by said, "I think Mr. Downer's restriction of practitioners' appeal in front of the Chinese Embassy is baseless. Why can people from New Zealand appeal in front of New Zealand's Embassy and Indians appeal in front of the Indian Embassy? Falun Gong practitioners should of course be able to appeal in front of the Chinese Embassy."

An Australian man is being interviewed. He condemned Mr. Downer.

Two students from Iraq said, "Mr. Downer should stop signing such certificates immediately. He should stop if he is not a communist party member."

A man working at a human rights organization said, "Mr. Downer should not support the Chinese Communist Regime. Falun Gong practitioners should have their basic rights."

Denmark: Protesting Against the CCP for Killing Gao Rongrong

On the morning of June 21, 2005, Danish Falun Gong practitioners gathered at the Chinese Embassy to protest against the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) for the killing of Falun Gong practitioner Gao Rongrong. Practitioners held banners reading "Bring the Murderers of Gao Rongrong to Justice", "Bring Jiang Zemin, Luo Gan, Zhou Yongkang and Liu Jing to Justice" and "2603 Falun Gong Practitioners Have Been Killed Since 1999." They called for the international community to pay attention to this persecution and urge the CCP to stop the human rights abuses against Falun Gong practitioners immediately.

According to a report from Clearwisdom.net, on June 16, 2005, Falun Gong practitioner Gao Rongrong, a staff member of Luxun Academy of Fine Arts in Shenyang City, was killed after being disfigured and suffering severe torture. She is the 2585th officially documented Falun Gong practitioner to be killed during the persecution, although the unofficial figure is known to be far higher.

During the illegal incarceration, Gao Rongrong lost her hearing in one ear, her face was disfigured from seven hours of electric baton shock torture, her organs were shrunken, and she became emaciated. Her life was in grave danger. Gao's case has received broad attention in the international community. Her case was also the first case study in the "2004 United Nations Human Rights Report on China's Persecution of Falun Gong."

She was once successfully rescued by other Falun Gong practitioners. The photo of her disfigured face strongly exposed the persecution of Falun Gong by the Jiang regime and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). After the exposure, the CCP carried on a more hidden and despicable persecution. The 610 Office head Luo Gan personally took charge of the continued persecution plan against Gao Rongrong. One member of the Judiciary said, "Luo Gan gave the order. He said that this matter [Ms. Gao's torture case being exposed] had too much international impact. We must handle it carefully now [indicating that further persecution would be carried out secretly]." Gao Rongrong was unfortunately re-arrested in March 2005 and then tortured to death in police custody.

Recently, international newspaper The Epoch Times' series of editorials called the "Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party" inspired 2.4 million people's withdrawal from CCP membership. The CCP is facing an unprecedented crisis. The CCP has pressed on with killing and persecuting Falun Gong practitioners inside China. Outside China, the CCP makes use of its embassies, consulates and a huge secret agent network to blacklist Falun Gong practitioners, intercept telephone conversations and launch threats and harassment activities against overseas Falun Gong practitioners.

Recently three former Chinese officials could no longer bear taking part in the CCP's persecution of people and resolutely defected from the CCP. The first defector was 1st Secretary of the Chinese Consulate General in Sydney Mr. Chen Yonglin. He said that a high-ranking 610 Office official once came to the Consulate to inspect whether they worked hard to monitor and interfere with Falun Gong. The official said, "The Consulate should know the government's policy and strategy towards Falun Gong, for instance, we need to fight with them face-to-face, we must be more aggressive."

Another defector, Mr. Hao Fengjun, was a former 610 Office senior official in Tianjin and was in charge of collecting overseas information about Falun Gong. During a recent interview, Hao Fengjun disclosed that "the CCP spent more than three years to plan and deploy the global secret agents network. The network is quite good. The secret agents are not only deployed in Australia but all around the world including the U.S., Canada, Europe, etc. I have seen the intelligence information sent from Copenhagen in Denmark."

Perhaps due to the instruction and pressure of the order to "be more aggressive", the Chinese Embassy in Denmark has never stopped persecuting Falun Gong. A Danish practitioner's three businesses in China have been banned from operation due to a report from secret agents of the Chinese Embassy, which resulted in tens of thousands of Yuan being lost overnight.

In 2002, Jiang Zemin, at the time head of the CCP, visited Iceland. Three Danish practitioners had their flight tickets to Iceland cancelled because their names were on the CCP's blacklist. In February of this year, a Falun Gong practitioner received a huge number of harassing phone calls for two days continuously. Based on the investigation of a local police station, the harassing phone calls numbered as high as 961.

Recently, the Ambassador of the Chinese Embassy to Denmark even personally went into action, exerting pressure on the Danish Congress by way of a request to cancel a "CCP and Human Rights" seminar held in the Danish Congress. This unreasonable request was eventually in vain because of Denmark's democratic system and the congressmen's support for the seminar.

Here, we appeal to all staff in the Consulate to wake up to the six-year long brutal persecution, uphold your conscience and justice, take Chen Yonglin and Hao Fengjun as examples, step forward bravely and leave the CCP. Please don't help the CCP to do evil again. There are not many opportunities left for your choice!

Pingdong, Taiwan: Falun Gong Practitioners Mourn Gao Rongrong and Condemn the CCP's Atrocities

Falun Gong practitioners from towns and townships of Pingdong County, Taiwan gathered on the evening of June 26, 2005 at Chaozhou Town Older People's Activity Center-where the "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance" Art Exhibit was held. They held a candlelight vigil in memory of Falun Gong practitioner Gao Rongrong who was disfigured from the electric baton shock torture by the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) police and then tortured to death. The practitioners also protested the CCP for showing no regard for people's beliefs and human rights, and demanded an end to the persecution.

Mourn Gao Rongrong and call for an end to persecution

Falun Gong practitioner Gao Rongrong, a staff member of Luxun Academy of Fine Arts in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province, was arrested from her home by local police on June 22, 2003 for persisting in practicing Falun Gong, and died on June 16, 2005 in the emergency room of China Medical University Hospital. During nearly two years of incarceration, Gao Rongrong lost her hearing in one ear, her face was disfigured from seven hours of electric baton shock torture, her bodily organs were badly damaged and she became emaciated. Her life was in grave danger. She was once successfully rescued by other Falun Gong practitioners. The photo of her disfigured face strongly exposed the persecution of Falun Gong by the Jiang regime and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). After the exposure, the 610 Office head Luo Gan personally took charge of the continued persecution plan against Gao Rongrong. Gao Rongrong was unfortunately re-arrested in March 2005 and then tortured to death in police custody.

Falun Gong practitioners in Pingdong strongly protested against the CCP for killing practitioners and showing no regard for human rights and the truth. Gao Rongrong is the 2585th officially documented Falun Gong practitioner to be killed during the persecution, although more tragic persecution cases are still continuing.

Several practitioners talked about how they were shocked by the Gao Rongrong's being tortured to death. They expressed that it was hard for them to comprehend how the CCP could be so cruel and brutal in their persecution. They urged the CCP to immediately stop the killing of Falun Gong practitioners. They also encouraged kind-hearted people to step forward to make a joint effort to stop the cruel and inhuman persecution.

Malaysia: Practitioners Hold Anti-torture Exhibition to Awaken People's Conscience

To help more people learn about the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)'s ongoing persecution of Falun Gong, practitioners in Malaysia held an anti-torture exhibition on the morning of June 19, 2005 in the busy Peoples' Park in Klang City, Selangor Province. Before the event, a practitioner wrote to the local city government. The staff member in the public relations department was glad to accept the letter when the practitioner delivered it.

The anti-torture exhibition was held at 7 a.m at the front entrance of the park. Truth-clarification posters were set up, and practitioners distributed flyers and collected signatures.

Reenactment of torture methods used in China

Within half an hour, more and more people came to learn the truth. They wanted to know why the anti-torture exhibition was being held there. Some people did not believe such persecution could happen in modern society. Practitioners told them that although only two of the milder torture methods were being reenacted, practitioners in China face hundreds of inhuman torture methods. Many of the tortures could not be reenacted, such as rape and stripping women practitioners and putting them in male cells. After listening to the explanation, the viewers became serious about the brutal persecution of human rights and came forward to sign appeals against the persecution.

People come to learn the facts

Malaysia is a country with freedom of belief. Most of the people have a religious or spiritual belief and understand that good is rewarded with good and evil meets with evil. Many kind-hearted people, whether they were Chinese, Malaysian or Indian, signed their names on the petition without hesitation after learning about the CCP's brutal persecution of practitioners who follow Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance. Some condemned the CCP's inhumanity.

The intensity of the heat became stronger in the morning but it did not affect people wanting to learn the facts and sign petitions supporting Falun Gong. The CCP's evil torture methods were exposed under the sun. More and more of the world's people are coming to know the facts.

Taiwan: "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance International Art Exhibition" Held at Oceania University

The "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance International Art Exhibition" vehicle, which is traveling to colleges and universities in Taiwan, has arrived at Taiwan Oceania University, Chilung, in the northern part of Taiwan. The exhibition lasted for one week, from June 20-26, 2005, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The show was unveiled at 2 p.m. on June 20. Mr. Li Kuoten, Vice-President of Taiwan Oceania University, said in his speech: "Falun Gong follows Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. I am deeply impressed by the forbearance of Falun Gong practitioners, who are still determined in their belief although they are being persecuted and harassed. It's really not easy." This is the second time Mr. Li Kuoten had attended the art exhibition. The first time was on Chunghsiao Road, which is close to his home in Taipei.

Mr. Chang Ching-Chi, Director of the Falun Dafa Association Taiwan, noted in his speech that more than ten years have passed since Falun Gong was publicly introduced in 1992 and that it is welcomed across the world but has been persecuted in China by the Chinese Communist Party since 1999. Following the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, Falun Gong practitioners clarify the truth in all circles of society and call for a stop to the brutal persecution in China. These artists are also practitioners. After benefiting from practicing Falun Gong, through their paintings they have expressed their compassionate hearts and peaceful states of mind when facing the persecution.

Mr. Lin Shui-mu, the former mayor of Chilung City, mentioned in his speech that Falun Dafa was spreading all over China when he visited Shanghai seven years ago. There are also many practitioners practicing Falun Gong every day here on the square in front of the Chilung City Cultural Center. Mr. Lin believes that Falun Gong will be more popular in the future.

A babysitter came to the exhibition with a beautiful eight-month-old baby. She said that before she came to the exhibition the baby was a little uneasy but became quiet after entering the exhibition hall. She further mentioned that the baby slept during the day but not at night. The baby's mother asked her to take care of the baby instead. When this babysitter let the baby listen to Falun Gong audio-lecture tapes, the baby calmed down. Since then the baby has been nice, quiet, and easy to take care.

Some students from Taiwan Oceania University had attended the Art Exhibition in Taipei. After the exhibition, they were interested and curious. They asked many questions about meditation and got more information about Falun Gong.

Viewers listen to a practitioner's explanation

Mr. Ye Chen-shin is an artist with more than twenty years of experience in painting. He presented a painting to Taiwan Oceania University in appreciation for its providing such a nice exhibition hall for the art show. He said that it was technically difficult to show the serene and peaceful figures in the painting "Heaven and Human Become One." Mr. Ye highly praised the artist's technique in the painting "Suffering in China." The viewers would notice first the crying lady, then her husband's body by her side, and finally the torn "brainwashing statement" in his hand. People who attend the exhibition are saddened by this scene in the painting.

    Suffering in China

The artists represented in this exhibition come from all over the world. One of them is Wong Wei-hsin, a Chinese artist residing in the U.S. She said she was searching for truth in the maze of art and human life. It was "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance" that guided her out of the maze. She wanted to share her joy with everyone.

Australian Government's Pacification on China's Rights Draws Criticism

At the annual "human rights dialogue" on Monday, June 27, the Australian delegation did not raise the case of defecting Chinese diplomat Chen Yonglin, who claimed that the Chinese Government had deployed about 1000 spies to persecute Chinese-Australian pro-democracy activists and Falun Gong practitioners. People from different walks of life criticized the government for being too timid and blindly compromising with the Chinese communist regime.

The Age, an Australian newspaper, reported on June 28, 2005 that the Federal Government has come under fire for failing to question Chinese officials about claims that Chinese agents have persecuted political dissidents in Australia.

According to the report, at an annual and closed "human rights dialogue" on Monday, Australian officials did not raise allegations that the Chinese Government had persecuted Chinese-Australian pro-democracy activists and practitioners of Falun Gong. Geoff Raby, the Foreign Affairs Department official who led the talks, said it was "not the forum" for tackling the allegations.

The report stated that the failure to raise the claims have fuelled accusations that Australia is taking a "softly softly" approach on human rights to keep good relations with China.

According to The Age, yesterday reports emerged that Australia had refused to join "secret" US-led talks to discuss China's expanding role in the world, for fear of offending China.

The report quoted a Falun Gong spokeswoman Kay Rubacek, who said that practitioners in Australia had experienced a "pattern of intimidation and harassment" by Chinese agents, which included slashed car tires.

Australian government criticized over China human rights

According to a report from Radio Australia on June 28, 2005, Australia's main opposition Labor Party has criticized the Government for not raising the case of defecting Chinese diplomat Chen Yonglin during its annual human rights dialogue with China.

Mr. Chen claims there are up to a thousand Chinese spies in Australia, some of whom are monitoring the Falun Gong movement, which is outlawed in China.

The Australian delegation did not raise the case of Mr. Chen during talks Monday, in the Chinese capital, Beijing, said the report.

Labor's acting foreign affairs spokesman Robert McClelland says the Australian delegation was too timid.

The report quoted Mr. McClelland, who said, "That's precisely the sort of forum where they could have been raised privately but sincerely."

In the end, the report stated, Bob Brown from the Greens party accused the Australian Government of being cowardly.
