  • Taiwan: Press Conference for Global Mission to Rescue Orphans of Falun Gong Practitioners Tortured to Death

Central News Agency reported on July 17, 2005 that the Falun Dafa Association of Taiwan held a press conference concerning the "Global Mission to Rescue Orphans - call for the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) to release 255 orphans of Falun Gong practitioners tortured to death," on July 17 in 2-28 Memorial Peace Park, Taipei. Mr. Huang Guohua and his daughter Huang Ying, victims of the persecution in China, were on site to narrate their suffering in China.

China Times reported that the Falun Dafa Association of Taiwan and the Global Mission to Rescue Falun Gong Practitioners, Taiwan Branch launched a global rescue action to demand that the CCP stop the persecution and issue passports to the orphans unconditionally so that they can be adopted overseas.

Ms. Chang Ching-Hua, spokesperson for the Falun Dafa Association of Taiwan and Director of News Research Institute, Taiwan University, pointed out that 2,675 practitioners have been tortured to death during the CCP's unlawful persecution. Their underage sons and daughters are discriminated against and forced to stay away from home. They lose their parent and their opportunity to receive an education. Some of them were sent to brainwashing sessions and labor camps. Based on information published on Clearwisdom.net, there are 255 orphans of practitioners, whose names and family conditions have been verified.

Mr. Huang Guohua, whose wife was tortured to death for persisting in practicing Falun Gong, brought his four-year-old daughter Huang Ying to condemn the CCP's persecution. He and his wife were sent to forced labor camp for practicing Falun Gong. His wife, Ms. Luo Zhixiang was three months pregnant and had to stay away from home to avoid persecution. Her daughter Huang Ying was born in a small clinic. Because she was being monitored by 70 police officers, Ms. Luo asked her mother-in-law to bring Ying home and take care of her daughter in Shandong Province.

Mr. Huang and his wife were arrested again later and sent to Huangpu Drug Rehabilitation Center for brainwashing. They protested by going on a hunger strike and were force-fed four days later. When Mr. Huang heard of his wife again, it was four months after Ms. Luo Zhixiang had been tortured to death.

Mr. Huang said that his daughter was happy during the daytime but that she cries at night. He once asked his daughter why she was crying, and his daughter said while crying, "Other children have a mom. I want my mom!" The father and daughter cried together. His daughter's nickname is "Kaixin" (Happy). Mr. Huang dearly hopes that his daughter's sorrow will be lifted.

Japan: Activities to Call for an End to the Six-year Persecution

Six years have passed since the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) headed by former president Jiang Zemin started the persecution against Falun Gong on July 20 1999, and the persecution is still ongoing. Practitioners around the world hold various events to protest the persecution on this day every year, to further expose the truth of the brutal persecution in China and to call for help to end it. On July 18, 2005, Japanese practitioners gathered in Tokyo to hold various activities, including a press conference and a peaceful parade, to once again call for an end to the persecution.

    Group practice

After group practice of the Falun Gong exercises in the morning, at noontime on July 18, practitioners held a press conference at a park in Tokyo. A spokesman for the practitioners said, "Six years ago, the Chinese authority started to persecute innocent Falun Gong practitioners, who were then illegally arrested, detained, sentenced to forced labor camps or prisons, and tortured... Today is the 6th anniversary of the persecution. The purpose of our activities is to let people know that the persecution is still ongoing in China and to ask all people to please help us end it."

Practitioners speak out at the press conference

At the press conference, Mr. Tsuruzono Masaaki told the press: "We want to tell you that the persecution is still ongoing in China though the evil force is not as rampant as before due to our persistent efforts and international help. To date, 2,702 practitioners have been persecuted to death. The Japanese Falun Dafa Association filed a lawsuit against Jiang Zemin this past April and the lawsuit is in progress.

"Though we have sued Jiang and have held many public activities to raise awareness of the persecution, Falun Gong has no interest in politics and will never get involved in politics. Falun Gong is not concerned with religion, either. We just want to live according to the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance in order to be upstanding and healthy people. Through our activities, we hope that the Japanese public and officials in the Chinese Embassy will learn more about the truth of Falun Gong."

A practitioner giving a speech at the press conference

A practitioner who is the director of Rescue Family Members of Practitioners Persecuted In China also gave a speech at the rally. He emphasized that Mainland practitioners are still subject to all kinds of physical and mental torture. "For the past six years, Chinese practitioners in Japan can't go back to China to visit their loved ones; and relatives of ours are being persecuted in China for their belief in Falun Gong. We have lost contact with some of them. I hereby call upon people from all circles: please help us to rescue the practitioners persecuted in China and end the persecution."

A representative from the Global Coalition to Bring Jiang to Justice said: "Jiang has been sued in 16 countries for torture, genocide and crimes against humanity. The crimes committed by Jiang are against innocent practitioners. With help from every kind-hearted person, we hope that we can bring Jiang and his accomplices to justice soon."

    clarifying the truth

Starting at 2 p.m., more than 140 practitioners held a peaceful parade in downtown Tokyo. The parade was led by practitioners carrying banners reading, "Falun Dafa is Good," "Falun Dafa is a Righteous Way" and "Falun Dafa Spreads Worldwide." Then came women practitioners in white holding photos of practitioners killed during the persecution. Practitioners also displayed photos of torture evidence and many other banners such as, "Bring Jiang Zemin to Justice" and "Immediately End the Persecution of Falun Gong."

This reporter noticed that most passersby were attracted by this special procession in the baking sun. Many people quietly read the photos and banners displayed by practitioners. Some took pictures with their cameras, and some Western tourists videotaped the parade. There were also people who used their cell phones to take pictures. Those who received Falun Gong truth-clarifying materials often read them carefully. One older gentleman was so intently reading a flier that he didn't even notice that a reporter was taking a picture of him.

Among the parade participants, there were old practitioners in their 60s and 70s and also young mothers with infants. When asked why she would participate in this parade in such hot weather, a young mother who was rolling a twin stroller along in the parade said, "Falun Gong is being persecuted in China, and the CCP has added my name to their blacklist because of my belief in Falun Gong. I gave birth to two babies recently and I really want to take them back to China to see my parents. However, I cannot. I hope that all Japanese citizens and people around the world will come to know about this persecution and thus help us end it so that I can return my homeland."

Mr. Yang, a PhD, just came to Japan recently. He was a middle-ranking officer in the Army. He was forced to quit the army because of his belief in Falun Gong. As the persecution continued and escalated, he was forced to leave his home to avoid being arrested. When he went to appeal for Falun Gong, he was arrested and tortured brutally. Mr. Yang said: "My wife and I are so happy to be able to live a free life now in Japan, and we are delighted to be able to participate in activities of this kind. We experienced and witnessed the brutal persecution, and thus we want to tell people the truth and call for support to end it as soon as possible."

Ms. Fan, although seven months pregnant, nonetheless finished the parade carrying a poster. She had been illegally detained in a forced labor camp in China, forced to do slave labor and was subjected to sexual abuse. She said, "My heart is crying today; people in Japan can't imagine the harsh situation of practitioners in China. I hope that all kind-hearted people will help us end this persecution as soon as possible."

Appeal in front of the Chinese Embassy

In the evening, practitioners continued their activities by holding a peaceful appeal in front of the Chinese Embassy.

Taiwan: Taichong Practitioners Rally to Commemorate July 20 Despite Hurricane Alert, Call for Action to End the Six Years of Persecution

On July 17, while the whole island was affected by a hurricane and most outdoor events were canceled, practitioners in Taichong held a large event in Fengle Park to raise awareness of the ongoing persecution in China, which has lasted six long years. Despite the rain, Taichong City Councilman Liu Shizhou came to the park to greet practitioners and to call on the public to support Falun Gong.

Because of the hurricane, it started to rain right after lunchtime. However, the rain could not stop practitioners from coming together to hold their truth-clarification activities. Starting at 3 p.m., practitioners started the Falun Gong exercise demonstration, and held a photo display and anti-torture exhibition. A candlelight vigil was held in the evening to commemorate the 2,704 fellow practitioners persecuted to death in China.

During the vigil, practitioners held white lotus flowers and photos of practitioners who have been persecuted to death. With peaceful music and flickering candlelight, the scene was very touching. Because of the hurricane, there were not many tourists. However, the unyielding spirit demonstrated by the practitioners deeply impressed everyone who was at the park

City Councilman Liu Shizhou gave a speech at the rally

City Councilman Liu Shizhou expressed his admiration of the practitioners' persistent efforts and unshakeable faith as well as their rationality demonstrated during the six long years of persecution. He said, "I admire the spirit of Falun Gong. Just like today, you are not deterred by the wild rain and strong wind. I believe that the persecution can't last much longer. The world needs people like you, and only 'Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance' can bring true peace and harmony."

A practitioner said, "Why would these practitioners still spontaneously come to hold this event despite the heavy rain and strong wind? Because every one of us has benefited from Falun Dafa. Since the introduction of Falun Dafa to the public in 1992, the practice attracted more than 100 million practitioners in just seven years. The practice uplifts morality, improves health holistically and has saved a huge amount of medical costs for the Chinese government; why would a government ever fear that there would be too many good and healthy people?

"Since I started to practice Falun Gong, I have been paying medical insurance though I never really use it. This is a very common phenomenon among practitioners. This is because Falun Gong teaches us to consider others first. It is just so evil for the Chinese Communist Party to persecute innocent practitioners who just want to be upright and healthy people. No one can understand a regime which could forbid its people to be good citizens."

Another practitioner pointed out that the persecution in China never stops, largely due to the continuous economic development. In fact, resources created by economic development in China have been used to intensify the persecution against innocent citizens.

Normandy, France: Clarifying the Truth in Lisieux

On the 7th of July 2005, French practitioners held an anti-torture exhibition in Lisieux to let more people know about Falun Gong and the human rights atrocity against practitioners in China. Practitioners demonstrated the five sets of Falun Gong exercises, gave out leaflets and hand-made paper lotus flowers and reenacted some of the barbaric torture methods used by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in their attempts to force practitioners in China to renounce their beliefs.

Although it was cloudy with occasional drizzle, reporters from the local newspapers Pays D'Auge, Ouest France and L'Eveil de Lisieux still came and interviewed practitioners. On seeing the anti-torture exhibition and the pictures on display of the CCP cruelly persecuting Falun Gong practitioners, they all were greatly shocked and were concerned for Falun Gong practitioners who are still suffering from persecution in China.

    Reading the truth-clarifying posters

Lisieux is a lively and unpretentious city with a great devotion to Catholicism. Citizens who were passing by the exhibition boards spontaneously showed their spirit of kindness and honesty:

A father, along with his son and daughter, all signed the petition against the persecution of Falun Gong.

Another man insisted on rescuing the practitioner who was acting the role of being locked up in a cage. He calmed down after a practitioner told him that this was a simulation to let people know what's really happening in China.

A man driving a car passed by and stopped his car to watch the exhibition for about 15 minutes.

When two ladies from Algeria were looking at the anti-torture exhibition, one of them couldn't help crying for a long time. Having understood the reason why the CCP is persecuting Falun Gong practitioners, another woman said, "The Communist Party's system is really inhuman," and she sincerely hoped that Falun Gong practitioners can keep up their efforts until the persecution ends.

Czech Republic: Northern Czech Citizens Support "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance"

Two days before the summer holiday began, on July 1st and 2nd 2005, Czech practitioners once again visited Ceska Lipa and Litomerice, two cities in northern Czech Republic. It was cloudy with light rain, but we felt the local people's concern about Falun Gong and their appreciation for the efforts of practitioners to stop the persecution happening in China. They wanted to know more, and asked for information.

We also met up with a daily newspaper reporter from Ceska Lipa who had written about our activities before. On this occasion she received a more detailed account about Falun Gong practice and a comprehensive update of the ongoing persecution in China.

A woman in Litomerice signed the petition calling for an end to the persecution and wrote: "This is absolutely unbelievable. This persecution must be the work of someone who somehow has stolen the mighty power of government."

At the beginning of August, there will be a forum hosted by Falun Gong practitioners in a local teashop. An art exhibition about the persecution of Falun Gong in China will also be held then.

San Franciso, California: "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance" International Art Exhibit Moves People to Tears

The "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance" International Art Exhibit was held at the Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Building in San Francisco's Chinatown from July 16 to 17. The exhibit displayed 38 paintings, all by Falun Gong practitioners. The paintings depict the beauty brought by Falun Gong to practitioners, the celebration of high level beings and practitioners, and practitioners' unyielding faith in the face of the most brutal persecution in the history of humankind. The paintings were well-received, and many visitors wrote their comments in the exhibition notebook. A Japanese tourist wrote: "The paintings are so touching, I can't hold back my tears."

Children also come to the exhibition

The exhibit was previously held at the San Francisco Federal Building and the Santa Clara County Government Building respectively, and the outcome was very good. The organizers of this exhibit said that they are planning to hold more art exhibitions.

According to one of the exhibit's organizers, the visitors were from different regions and different ethnic backgrounds, and came to the exhibit for different reasons. Some happened to pass by and find the exhibit by chance, some read advertisements about it, and some came to the exhibit on the recommendation of their friends. The organizer said, "In the exhibition hall, we have volunteers who can walk the visitors through the paintings and describe the true stories behind the paintings."

The painting, "Daddy, Come Back!" depicts a real story: Little Fadu's father was persecuted to death by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) for his belief in Falun Gong. Over the past several years, she and her mother have traveled around the world to tell her father's story and to call for help for the practitioners who are still being persecuted. Looking at the painting, I heard little Fadu's cry: "Daddy, come back!" Mom told little Fadu: "In China, there are many practitioners like your daddy. They are being persecuted and no one knows their suffering."

    Canvas: "Why"

    Little Fadu: "Daddy, come back!"

Another painting, "Why," depicts a small boy behind the iron bars of a prison. The boy appears to be only 4 or 5 years old with cuts and bruises all over his body. His sad eyes show confusion. Behind him, his wounded mother lies on the floor in heavy shackles. It seems that the boy is asking: "Why would the police torture my mom and me?"

A visitor was outraged by the CCP's brutality after seeing this painting. He said: "How can they treat a little boy like this! In any country, children are protected. It is inhuman to treat children so brutally."

Humans and gods are both outraged by the persecution.

Zengchen Meihe, 85, is a Chinese person from Myanmar. She had very good calligraphy training in her childhood and she came to the exhibit to offer free calligraphy for the visitors. She said that she recently started to practice Falun Gong and has read the teachings seriously. Her former humpback has gone and she can now stand upright.
