  • Practitioner from Jiyuan City, Henan Province Who Had His Esophagus Cut Open to Facilitate Forced-Feeding Is in Critical Condition

Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Yuan Shengjun from Jiyuan City, Henan Province, was arrested by members of both the 610 Office and the National Security Group on March 30, 2005. To protest his unlawful imprisonment, he went on a hunger strike and was subsequently sent to the Jiyuan Number One People's Hospital for an operation on his esophagus that allowed his captors to force-feed him through a tube. Yuan Shengjun has now been on his hunger strike for forty days; his life is in peril.

Reports state that after this barbaric torture was exposed to the outside, lawless police officials transferred Yuan Shengjun to the Tiantan Hospital and strictly blocked any information about him from being released. Family members are currently not even allowed to see him. Under instructions from Wang Mingli, Chief of the National Security Group in Jiyuan City, and Wang Guoyou, the Group's Commissar, Yuan Shengjun was first handcuffed and then strictly monitored by five people.

Mr. Yuan Shengjun held a responsible professional position in Jiyuan City, Henan Province. His health and moral standards had both improved as a result of practicing Falun Gong. In July 1999, when Jiang Zemin and his regime began to persecute Falun Gong, Mr. Yuan wanted to speak out on behalf of Falun Gong. He wrote a public letter to Jiang Zemin in November of 2000 to clarify the truth about Falun Gong. For this action he was unlawfully sentenced to three years in prison by the Law Enforcement Department, and he was jailed in the Jiyuan Detention Center for the next two years. While imprisoned, Yuan Shengjun was expelled from his public position by the Jiyuan City Government. He was later transferred to the Zhengzhou Jail and was unlawfully imprisoned for one additional year. At the hands of the guards and prison administration, he suffered physical beatings, shocks with an electric baton used to torture prisoners and forced brainwashing; he was released in November of 2003.

At 11:30 a.m. on March 30, 2005, Wang Mingli, Leader of the National Security Group of Jiyuan City, Wang Guoyou, the Political Commander and other members of the 610 Office broke into Mr. Yuan Shengjun's home to conduct a surprise search. Even though they did not find any Falun Gong-related materials, they tried to abduct Yuan Shengjun anyway. Mr. Yuan refused to cooperate with their intended arrest, and instead clarified the truth to them about Falun Gong. Since these police officers were unable to illegally arrest Yuan Shengjun, they called the 110 Police to assist them (calling 110 is similar to calling 911 in the U.S.), and the 110 dispatcher sent four or five more policemen to forcibly abduct Yuan Shengjun. The next day, Mr. Yuan was unlawfully placed in the Jiyuan City Detention Center.

In the detention center, Yuan Shengjun held a hunger strike to resist his unlawful imprisonment. On the eighth day of his incarceration, Yuan Shengjun was sent to the Jiyuan Number One People's Hospital, where he was forced to undergo an operation cutting open his esophagus to facilitate forced-feeding. On the twentieth day of being unlawfully held in jail, his police captors injected him with a sedative that caused him to lose his memory.

Yuan Shengjun's family has not seen him since March 29. They have not been allowed to visit him even once since his illegal arrest by the Jiyuan Public Security Office.

Yuan Shengjun has now been on a hunger strike for almost forty days and is currently in critical condition.

Ms. Liu Yumei from Fushun City, Liaoning Province Arrested Again - Her Younger Sister Killed in 2002

On the night of April 2, 2005, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Liu Yumei from Fushun City, Liaoning Province was arrested and her home was ransacked. Information about her current whereabouts is not available. We surmise that the Fushun Police are responsible for her disappearance.

Three police officers from the Wanghua District Putun Police Station had previously arrested her younger sister, Ms. Liu Yuqing. After her arrest, she suffered all kinds of brutal torture, such as merciless beatings and sleep deprivation. On April 13, 2002, she died as a result of the torture. She was only 40 years old.

Ms. Liu Yumei is in her fifties and was the manager of the Fushun Petroleum Collective No. 3. After July 20, 1999, her former workplace succumbed to pressure exerted by the government and forced her to give up her job seniority.

Ms. Liu went to Beijing to appeal to the government to stop the persecution of Falun Gong and was detained. Later, she was arrested and tortured a few more times. During one of her detentions, she started a hunger strike in protest but was force-fed. This procedure was so painful that she tried to escape by jumping from a sixth floor window. The fall caused her to fracture her pelvis, lumbar vertebrae and her left wrist. The police would not take responsibility for this incident, so they sent her back home. Afterwards, nobody thought that she would ever be able to stand upright again, but three months later, Ms. Liu was able to walk on her own, which astonished everyone. She thus demonstrated the power of Falun Gong to those around her.

In 2002, government agents in Tieling arrested Ms. Liu yet again. She was released only after a three-month-long hunger strike. On April 2, 2005, she was arrested again and has since disappeared.

To find out more about how Ms. Liu Yumei's sister, Ms. Liu Yuqing, died, please refer to the following article: "Torture Death of Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Liu Yuqing in the Wujiabao Forced Labor Camp, Fushun City, Liaoning Province (phone numbers included)."

Practitioners in Shenyang City Urged to Rescue Jing Yu

Falun Gong practitioner Jing Yu, 32, from Shenyang City, has been illegally imprisoned in Liaoyang Huazi Prison. He has been suffering from the long-term persecution, and therefore he has the symptoms of severe pulmonary tuberculosis, and coughs up blood. At present, his body is extremely weak.

Huazi Prison's guards often incite criminals to beat Falun Gong practitioners, and they also detain parcels and mail from practitioners' families. In order to block the truth of how practitioners have been physically tortured from being exposed to the outside world, the prison does not allow practitioners' families to have meals with them when they come to visit practitioners (this is allowed for ordinary criminals). Falun Gong practitioners have to communicate through the glass using the intercom. They are only allowed to talk about family matters. They are prohibited from talking about things that happen inside the prison, and neither are they allowed to talk about any matters relating to Falun Gong. Behind each practitioner there always stands a criminal who is assigned to monitor the practitioner's conversation. Even the practitioner's gestures and facial expressions are monitored. The nearby room is also equipped with facilities used for monitoring and watching every word and inflection. If the prison guards find anything they believe to be inappropriate, they immediately stop the conversation.

The practitioners imprisoned in this prison have to do an excessive amount of slave labor, including manual labor and outside service, etc. The manual labor mainly involves jobs such as making handicrafts, as well as sewing. They usually have to work long hours, until midnight. The outside service mainly includes cement production (at Huazi New Life Cement Plant). All of the Falun Gong practitioners are imprisoned in the third ward, where the prison guards specially manage Falun Gong. The prison guards do not have to take orders from prison authorities. Although it is inside the Huazi Prison, it is actually an independent clique directly affiliated with the 610 Office. They carry on a secret persecution against Falun Gong practitioners. There are small cells, and detention rooms. The guards often force the criminals to beat up, and physically torture practitioners, sometimes even using electric batons to shock practitioners. In September 2004, practitioner Fan Xuejun from Huanggu District in Shenyang City was tortured to death. Zhou Dewei, an engineer, who was released on bail for medical treatment, died in October 2004.

Mr. Jing Yu started practicing Falun Gong in late 2000 and early 2001, when the Chinese Communist Party's persecution against Falun Gong was at its climax. He truly became a Falun Gong practitioner in the summer of 2001. In 2000, Jing Yu's mother and sister, already practitioners by then, introduced Falun Gong to him. They hoped that he would start practicing. However, at that time, his whole mind was occupied with the pursuit of making money, and he had no interest in practicing Falun Gong at all.

At that time, the entire nation started to persecute Falun Gong. Jing Yu's neighborhood association, the local Political and Legal Bureau, Public Security Station, and the other government offices together arrested his mother and sister. Afterwards, they ransacked their home and confiscated their personal property, including all of their Falun Gong books and related publications. His second elder sister was not at home then, therefore she was not arrested. Subsequently, she had to leave their home and become homeless to avoid being abducted. After this incident, he started thinking deeply about Falun Gong and the Chinese Communist Party's inhumane suppression against these kind-hearted people. Even his honest and kind mother and sister were put in jail. What went wrong? After thinking it over, he decided to practice Falun Gong.

On National Day in 2001, the local police station, along with Yuhong District Huanghai Police Station police, suddenly came to his home in the evening. He refused to open the door for the police. The police then broke into his house and arbitrarily searched and examined the rooms. They thought that his sister would be at home hiding. Failing to find his sister, they unexpectedly abducted Jing Yu to the local police station and illegally interrogated him. They tried to force him to tell them his homeless sister's whereabouts, and whether he was in contact with other Falun Gong practitioners. Jing said that he did not know anything. Therefore, he was brutally beaten by the police. At that time, the head of the local police station was also present. After being detained for two days, he was imprisoned for 15 days at the Fangjialan City Detention Center for "disrupting the social order," a crime that he did not commit.

After being mercilessly beaten, Jing Yu started to cough constantly every day, and his ribs and chest ached. Afterwards he went to Yuhong Hospital for an X-ray, which showed that two of his ribs were fractured and had punctured his lungs. It created a pulmonary cyst, and the treatment would cost at least 3,000 to 4,000 yuan. Because his family members were constantly arrested, detained, fined, and had lost their jobs, they were in an exceptionally difficult financial situation. Because of this, Jing had to be strong. To survive, he had to go out and make money. During the daytime he delivered mineral water to households, and in the evenings he delivered milk. He still needed to save money and time to deposit money and take clothes to his mother imprisoned in Fangjialan Detention Center, and sister imprisoned in the Municipal Detention Center, located to the north of Sujiatun. At the same time, he kept wondering about his other sister's whereabouts.

Under this kind of difficult situation, his lung condition deteriorated. He became very slim and he coughed all day long. Afterwards his mother was sentenced to three years of forced labor, and was imprisoned in the Longshan Forced Labor Camp. His sister was released on bail for medical treatment after having gone on a hunger strike. Later, they also found their homeless sister. Because the persecution still continued, the three of them were unable to go to their house together. With some kind-hearted people's help, they rented a room. In order to stop this meaningless and evil persecution, the three of them continued to expose the evil by telling people the truth of Falun Gong.

Under the unceasing pressure of Jiang's regime, the entire country continued to persecute Falun Gong. There were always some corrupt police who abandoned their conscience, morality, and justice to gain personal benefits. They were willing to help the tyrant do evil deeds, and blindly followed the Jiang and Luo criminal group. In March 2002, the three of them were arrested at the rental place, and were detained in the Municipal Detention Center. That evening, a young policeman was on duty. He asked if any of them had any illnesses. Jing Yu told him immediately he had a pulmonary cyst. Yet the officer replied without sparing a glance, "No problem. You won't die. Go in there."

Afterwards, when the Municipal Detention Center personnel noticed that Jing Yu's illness had deteriorated, they sent him to the Criminal Supervising Hospital, which is affiliated with the Municipal Public Security Bureau. Actually, everyone including the police knows that these criminal hospitals, jail hospitals, and labor camp hospitals' medical conditions are incomparable with that of the local hospitals. These hospitals cannot treat serious illnesses at all.

At the end of October 2002, Jing Yu was illegally sentenced to 10 years in prison. When he was imprisoned, his pulmonary tuberculosis had already deteriorated, and his physical condition was not fit for being imprisoned. When he was hospitalized in the Criminal Supervising Hospital, to resist the illegal persecution against him, he went on a hunger strike for as long as 8 months. His physical condition suffered more serious damage.

Between November and December of 2003, when the Shenyang Dabei Prison was moving to Pingluo Prison City, Shenyang Municipal Detention Center claimed that their medical equipment was not sufficient. Therefore, they covered up Jing's physical condition and forcibly put him in jail. In December 2003, they imprisoned Jing in Shenyang Prison, and then transferred him to the Liaoyang No. 1 Prison (also known as Huazi Prison). After they discovered his physical condition, Huazi prison put Jing in the prison health center. However, his tuberculosis had further worsened. During Chinese New Year day of 2005, he coughed blood, the tuberculosis was very serious, and his body was extremely weak. He looked very pale and he was becoming extremely thin. Jing Yu and his family members strongly requested that the prison release Jing as soon as possible so he could get proper medical treatment. He is innocent after all.

In the forced labor camp, Jing's mother suffered from persecution. Under the enormously heavy physical and mental pressure, she suffered from a sudden stroke, and diabetes. Her right eye lost sight, and her left eye had 0.2 vision. She relied on others to help her with her daily routine.

Hereby, we ask that local practitioners offer their assistance to help Jing return home. In the meantime, we hope that fellow practitioners will write letters, call, and use legal means to rescue Jing, and to restore justice to human society.

Eigthteen Falun Gong Practitioners in Shandong, Liaoning and Guangdong Provinces and Inner Mongolia Die from Persecution

Ms. Zhang Xihui, 54, was a Falun Gong practitioner from the residential community affiliated with the Dezhou Cotton Textile Mill in Shandong Province. She had appealed for Falun Gong twice since the persecution began in 1999, and had been arrested many times. When she was released from her last detention, she showed symptoms of mental trauma. It was reported that she may have been injected with nerve-damaging drugs. Since then she had not been clear-minded. She suffered massive edema and died on April 27, 2005.

Ms. Song Yulan, 56, was an employee at the Weihe Forestry Bureau, Shangzhi City, Heilongjiang Province. Before she practiced Falun Gong she had a stroke and was bedridden at home. She completely recovered after practicing Falun Gong. She told her recovery story to everyone she knew. Since April 25, 1999, Song Yulan had been to the Forestry Bureau, to the police department, to the court, and to other places telling people the truth of Falun Gong and the miracles Falun Gong brought her. One day after the persecution began, an official from the local community brought several people to Song's home to search for Falun Gong books. Song Yulan held the book tightly to her chest and refused to let go. The officials tried to take the book from her by force. Song was pushed down to the ground. She foamed at the mouth and died on the spot. Fearing being held responsible, the vicious officials lied about the cause of her death and claimed she died of a stroke.

Mr. Yang Zhaoxiang, 76, was a retiree from the No. 3 Railway Bureau, Hengshui City, Hebei Province. He had attained Falun Gong after April 25, 1999. In October 1999 his daughter was arrested by order of the 610 Office and suffered persecution in the municipal detention center. The older man was scared and worried. He got sick and was sent to the hospital. He died in March 2000. His son Yang Yun was arrested on March 1, 2002 and sent to the Hebei Provincial Brainwashing Center. He suffered greatly, both mentally and physically, and passed away on April 19, 2003.

Ms. Sun Shuying, 60, was from Wencheng Township, Jing County, Hebei Province. She had many diseases before she started practicing Falun Gong. In 1998 she started to practice Falun Gong and became healthy. After July 20, 1999, when Jiang's Communist regime started the persecution of Falun Gong, she went to appeal for Falun Gong but was arrested by lawless people from the township and the local police station. She was detained for two days, threatened, and fined 500 yuan. After her release she was often harassed. This made her mentally depressed, and caused her health to suffer. She never recovered. In spring 2001, her son was arrested and sent to a county brainwashing class and later a detention center for four months. The incident harmed her even further. In 2003, she showed symptoms of a cerebral hemorrhage and died on March 6, 2005.

Ms. Sun Xiangju, 59, was from Zhangleng Village, Zanhuang County, Shijiazhuang City, in Hebei Province. Because she went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong in 2000, she suffered persecution and left her home to avoid further persecution. She was fined 2,000 yuan. After coming home the police often harassed and threatened her. She died on April 19, 2003.

Ms. Liu Shuying, 58, was from Fengcheng City, Liaoning Province. Before practicing Falun Gong she had diabetes for over ten years, and maintained her life by taking insulin. For the more than six years that she practiced Falun Gong, she didn't take any medicine or have any injections, and she became very healthy. Her family saw her change and supported her practice of Falun Gong. In early August 2001, Liu Shuying was reported to police when posting a poster reading, "Falun Dafa is Great." The police, led by Guan Wei, the head of the National Security Division, arrested her. She was locked up in a detention center for over two months and also sent to the Fengcheng Brainwashing Class during that time. She was forced to write the Three Statements. Her diabetes returned, and her face became swollen. Fearing being held responsible, the detention center released her in October 2001. She was still harassed after returning home, and she died in October 2002.

Ms. Wu Xifen, 42, was named "excellent teacher" at the No. 42 Middle School, Shenyang City, Liaoning Province. She had many diseases before practicing Falun Gong, and completely recovered afterwards. After the persecution began, police often harassed her. One time, the police climbed up from down below and broke into her home through a window, which made her extremely frightened. Around October 2001, police and people from the Labor and Education Bureau arrested her when she was at work and took her to a brainwashing class. Her husband, who was not a practitioner, was also arrested. Suffering long-term threats and pressure, her health suffered and she showed symptoms of high blood pressure. She died on April 1, 2005.

Ms. Wang Juyuan, 51, lived at the Yingbin Garden Community, the Yuhong District, Shenyang City, Liaoning Province. She started practicing Falun Gong in 1998 and experienced good health afterward. However, since 1999 when the persecution started, the nationwide arrests and persecution of practitioners made her extremely nervous and affected her mental state. She fell from a building and died.

Mr. Wu Guonai, 65, was from the Liaoshen Region. He learned Falun Gong in July 1996 and obtained good health through the practice. Since July 20, 1999 when the persecution of Falun Gong began, he had been to different government branches to appeal for Falun Gong. Later, because of the pressure from different sources, and the lack of a practicing environment, his health degenerated and his old diseases returned. He died on February 22, 2005.

Ms. Zou Shufang, 67, was from the Liaoshen Region. She learned Falun Gong in 1994 and gained mental and physical health. Since July 20, 1999, she had been to provincial government branches to appeal for Falun Gong. Since then, she suffered pressures from different sources, and disease symptoms began to develop. She died on November 6, 2004.

Ms. Jin Xiuyu, 86, was from the Liaoshen region. She learned Falun Gong in 1995 and gained physical and mental health. However, after the persecution started in July 1999, she lost her practicing environment and became depressed over time. She died in 2003.

Ms. Jin Shuqing, 74, was from the Liaoshen Region. After learning Falun Gong in 1996, she gradually recovered from many of her health problems and benefited tremendously from the practice. However, after 1999, she suffered many pressures and disturbances and died on February 15, 2002.

Mr. Wu Dengxiang, 70, was from the Liaoshen Region. He learned Falun Gong in 1996 and gained mental and physical health. After the persecution started, he suffered from the pressures and loss of his practicing environment. His old health problems returned and he died in August 2002.

Ms. Gao Bozhi, 83, was from Heishan County, Liaoning Province. She learned Falun Gong in 1997 and many problems such as symptoms of dizziness that bothered her for many years disappeared. In 2000, when she visited her daughter, she witnessed her daughter being arrested because she persisted in her Falun Gong belief. This traumatized Ms. Gao, and she died in January 2000.

Ms. Liu Wuni was from Zhang Village, Hedian Township of Cai County, Henan Province. Before learning the Falun Gong practice she had many diseases such as high blood pressure, coronary heart disease, angina pectoris and others. All the symptoms disappeared after she started to practice Falun Gong. After July 20, 1999, when Jiang's regime began persecuting Falun Gong, local police often came to her home to harass her. She was unable to live normally and unable to practice Falun Gong. She died on October 28, 2004.

Mr. Zhou Huazu, 55, lived on South Street, Anlu, Hubei Province and was a barber. Before he learned Falun Gong he had difficulty walking, a side effect of a stroke. After learning Falun Gong in 1997 he recovered completely. He appealed for Falun Gong twice after 1999 and suffered harassment from officers at the Chengbei Police Station. He resisted the persecution with righteous belief. On June 11, 2003, he died from a massive stroke.

Ms. Zhou Aiying, 32, was from Huxi Village, Hetou Town, Suixi County, Guangdong Province. In early November 2001, she was taken to a brainwashing class to be persecuted. She returned from the class a little over 20 days later, and died in early December 2001.

Ms. Chen Biyun, 71, was from Leizhou City, Guangdong Province. After the persecution began, police monitored and followed her. She lost her practicing environment. To avoid the persecution she stayed at her daughter's home. She died in December 2004.

Ms. Wang Xiumei Recovered from "Blood Cancer" after Practicing Falun Gong, Died as a Result of Persecution

Ms. Wang Xiumei, 25, was from Wudan Town, Wengniute District, Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia. In 1998 she had incurable Barrier anemia disease, also called "blood cancer." The doctor told her family to prepare for her death. In February 1999 a classmate introduced her to Falun Gong. At that time she did not even have the strength to read a book, and was only able to listen. A little more than twenty days into Falun Gong practice her health was visibly improved. Two months later she looked normal, with a healthy facial color. All her neighbors talked about the miracle of Falun Gong. On June 26, 1999, at the experience sharing conference in the Wengniute District, she described her revival experience with moving tears on the stage, and stated that Falun Gong gave her a second life. When the Communist Party started persecuting Falun Gong, she again began to show the symptoms of the disease. National Security Division police from the Wengniute Police Department came to her home to harass and threaten her. Under such high pressure her old disease returned in mid-August, 1999. She passed away in September 1999. Before she died she kept saying, "I want to practice Falun Gong." She never wrote a guarantee statement for the evildoers and never gave up Falun Gong practice, as far as we know.

14 Practitioners in Several Regions of China Died from the Persecution

Ms. Sun Guifang, who lived in the Chongwen District of Beijing, had provided a comfortable practice place for Falun Gong practitioners. After the persecution began on July 20, 1999, she appealed for Falun Gong several times, was arrested and sent to a brainwashing class. Because officials constantly continued to harass and threaten her, her illness symptoms returned, and she died on May 3, 2005. The district police even monitored her family when her body was cremated.

Ms. Wang Shuyua, 74, lived in Beifangshen Village in Sanshilipu Town, the Jinzhou District, Dalian City, Liaoning Province. After starting Falun Gong practice in July 1997, she was healthy and full of energy. For practicing Falun Gong outdoors on August 13, 2000, she was detained by persons from the Sanshilipu Police Station, put in a metal cage for three days and later sent to the Jinzhou Detention Center. Deciding she was too old to keep in detention, the police released her after forcing her to pay a fine of 200 yuan. Her three daughters, however, were arrested, detained and fined many times, causing her intense and prolonged stress. Ms. Wang passed away on August 6, 2004.

Ms. Shao Yuzhen was 75 years old and had lived in the Qinghe District of Tieling City, Liaoning Province. She could not go out in the winter because her illness. After practicing Falun Gong, all her symptoms were gone. She could go out in the winter to practice the exercises without a hat or a mask. After the persecution began in 1999, she went with other practitioners to appeal for Falun Gong at the provincial government. The fact that many practitioners were being arrested and facing daily harassment and intimidation caused her health to steadily deteriorate. Ms. Shao passed away on December 19, 2002.

Ms. Tang Chengyu was 66 and had lived in Dazhou City, Sichuan Province. Due to her poor health, she started practicing Falun Gong in 1996 and became disease-free for several years. In December 2000 she went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong and was captured on the way by Dazhou City national security agents. They arrested her and searched her home. She was later locked up in the Tongchuan District Detention Center in Dazhou City, where she was physically and mentally tortured. The police tried to force her to reveal the identities of the leaders of the Beijing appeals and the Falun Gong activities. In the detention center she had chest pain and abdominal bloating and was not able to eat for almost two weeks. Even a little bit of rice soup would make her vomit without stopping. She lost consciousness several times and was near death, but the police continued torturing her for information. As a result of these actions, this practitioner has been forced to move from place to place to keep from being arrested by the authorities.

On February 8, 2004, and again on May 1, 2004, police came to the practitioner's home to attempt to arrest her but were unsuccessful since she was not at home either time. On the night of July 19, 2004, police came to the practitioner's home to ransack it once more. They took away her younger sister (a non-practitioner) and threatened her. At a later date, they also took her husband into custody and held him for three days. Her family paid police officer Xu Hongwei 500 yuan to secure his release.

On the nights of August 15, 2004, and November 19, 2004, police again came to this practitioner's home to harass her family.

    1. Practitioner Ms. Yu Mei from Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province, Sent to Sanshui Labor Camp

The home of Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Yu Mei from the Chikan District in Zhanjiang City was ransacked multiple times. The police also threatened her family. In order to avoid the brutal persecution and illegal arrest, she was forced to leave her disabled husband and young daughter and to become destitute and homeless. Ms. Yu had been missing since May 2004. Apparently, officers from Xiashan Station had arrested her and sent her to Sanshui Labor Camp without any legal procedures. In order to resist this persecution, Ms. Yu went on a hunger strike for more than ten days until her life was endangered. Almost a year later, in mid April 2005, the Zhanjiang City 610 Office head Chen Jun (male) notified Ms. Yu's family, ordering them to visit her in Zhanjiang City's "Legal Education School," where she is now being detained. When she appeared in front of her family as thin as a skeleton, no one could hold back their tears.

    2. Retired Changzhi City Courthouse Official in Shanxi Province Exposed Persecution of His Family

My name is Fu Guosheng, and I am a retiree from Changzhi City Middle Court in Shanxi Province. My wife Jia Yuzhen, daughter Jiang Yan, and younger son Zhong Yi, who is still in jail, were each sentenced to three years in prison. During this difficult period, my freedom was restricted for more than two years. Our home was under surveillance, and our phone was often bugged. My wife and daughter have been followed after their release from prison. We do not have any freedom or rights. The worst incident happened on the afternoon of April 20, 2005, when nearly 10 plain-clothes officers from the Changzhi City Police Department stormed into my home. They body searched me, and then they searched the house without showing any ID, which is in violation of Article 300 of the Criminal Law. Around 8 p.m. that night, officers Li Qingsong (male) and Han Junsheng (male) stormed into my home again. They pushed my wife down and my daughter onto the sofa. They ransacked our home for two hours. Li Qingsong broke our bedroom door by kicking it down. The other four said they were from the Procuratorate.
