Mr. Zhao Yong was a retired teacher who lived in Baotou City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. He had been detained numerous times because he practiced Falun Dafa. During the time he was confined in the Hohhot City Second Prison, his liver disease reoccurred. However, the prison administration refused him medical parole, and he died in April 2005.

Mr. Zhao Yong was 63 years old, a retired teacher from the Baotou City Railroad Worker's School. He started cultivating Falun Dafa in 1996, and thereafter developed a healthy body with all his previous illnesses eliminated. After July 20, 1999, when the persecution of Falun Dafa began, his home was ransacked. Police arrested and detained him for 30 days in the Donghe District Detention Center. He was arrested again on December 13, 2000, and this time was sentenced to one year of forced labor. On May 17, 2003, his home was ransacked a third time, and he was arrested again. He was sentenced to a three-year prison term in the Hohhot City Second Prison. During his confinement in the prison, he was repeatedly mistreated, severely weakening both his physical and mental state. As a consequence of this harsh treatment, his liver problems reoccurred. When he was dying, his family applied to have him bailed out on medical parole. The local 610 Office and government officials deliberately delayed the approval process, and Mr. Zhao Yong died inside the Hohhot City Second Prison on April 29, 2005.

Mr. Liu Yucai was over 50 years old and lived in Majialiang Village, Jiangjiatun Town, Xuanhua County, Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province. In the spring of 2005, the Clearwisdom website reported that he had passed away.

After the spring of 2001, Mr. Liu Yucai was detained for two years in the Tumuji Forced Labor Camp in Inner Mongolia Province for speaking out for Falun Dafa. At that time, in order to protest the practice of not releasing practitioners whose labor term had expired, all the male practitioners in the Tumuji Forced Labor Camp went on a collective hunger strike and refused to perform forced labor. Wang Zhichen, Ji Xiaodong and other practitioners were put into "small cells" and tortured. The Tumuji Forced Labor Camp police guards forced the remaining practitioners to stand in front of the building. When Zhang Yaguang, a supervisor, and Wang Liwei, a guard, incited the prison police to shout at the practitioners, the practitioners recited together,

"How much longer can the evil run rampant?
Every being's volition is fully revealed."

The police were very frightened, and supervisor Zhang shouted loudly, "Put Liu Yucai into a small cell!" Two guards forced Mr. Liu into a small cell. Without a pause, other practitioners took the lead, and everyone continued reciting Teacher Li's poems from Hongyin. The guards continued to put any practitioner who took the lead into a small cell. However, the sound of voices reciting Teacher Li's poems from Hongyin did not stop until there were only five or six practitioners left.

Several days later, the guards persecuted these practitioners by implementing a damaging force-feeding system. They selected Mr. Liu Yucai, who was over 50 years old and thin and short, as their first target to be force-fed. Mr. Liu was determined not to cooperate, and the police had to pry his mouth open to pour in the rice soup. Mr. Liu fainted and didn't regain consciousness until the next day. Twenty days later, I met with Mr. Liu on my way to the restroom. He told me, with his fingers pointing to his mouth, that the rice soup that the police had forced into his mouth had been boiling hot. He fainted even before they had poured all the soup into his mouth. When he regained consciousness, he found his mouth seriously burned with many big blisters. During that event, the practitioners did very well as one body. There were only two "transformed" practitioners, who later declared their repentance statements null and void. They came back to cultivation and appealled for Falun Dafad Dafa. After that event, the forced labor camp had to release all the practitioners whose terms had expired without any extra conditions.

As time went by, these practitioners endured several large-scale persecution campaigns, but they were always determined to continue to resist the persecution. In 2002, these practitioners conducted an anti-persecution protest. Zhang Yaguang, the supervisor of the guards, had to come upstairs and promise the practitioners that he would personally guarantee that the persecution of practitioners, including verbal abuse and beatings, would no longer take place. However, shortly after that, in order to follow the commands of the 610 Office, the Judicatory Office and the Labor Reeducation Bureau of Inner Mongolia Province, he resumed the cruel persecution of practitioners. When he saw the guards beating practitioners again, Mr. Liu criticized Zhang Yaguang directly, "Didn't you personally guarantee that this would not happen? Where do you stand now?" Zhang Yaguang swore vehemently, ran up to Mr. Liu, hit him in the face, and slapped him over 20 times. Mr. Liu's mouth was full of blood, and he spit the blood onto the ground.

Later on, the police guards worked hard to try to "transform" practitioners. In order to "transform" Mr. Liu, they did not allow him to sleep. Mr. Liu was determined to resist the persecution. The police verbally abused him and refused to let him sleep for several days. As a result, Mr. Liu's blood pressure rose, and the police had to give up their efforts to "transform" him. From that time onward, however, Mr. Liu's blood pressure remained high. He felt very cold and was in great pain. He had to be released early from the labor camp. After he returned home, the local police officers harassed him repeatedly. In January 2004, the police searched his home without a warrant. As a result, Mr. Liu couldn't go back to his own home. On January 16, 2004, he died.

My mother used to have rheumatoid arthritis. She was almost completely disabled and couldn't take care of herself. After she started to practice Falun Gong in 1997, she could stand up again. Moreover, she could climb the stairs, do grocery shopping, and cook again. My mother personally experienced the magnificence of Falun Gong.

After October 2000 my mother and sister were illegally arrested and detained several times for practicing Falun Gong. During that period, I was the only one left at home. The local police did not care about my difficult financial situation and constantly extorted money from me. Since I had to pay the fines, I quickly spent all the family savings. In addition, the police were ordered to "ruin their reputations, bankrupt them financially and physically destroy them" by Jiang Zemin's regime and the Communist Party. The mental and financial burdens that I am suffering are great.

On January 1, 2001, my mother was persecuted to the verge of death. Since the 610 Office officials were afraid of having to take responsibility for her death, they ordered me to pay the fine and pick up my mother. Since I really could not afford the fine, they forced me to sign an acknowledgement of debt for more than 3000 yuan and released my mother.

This was just the beginning. My sister was jailed in a notorious forced labor camp. Under Jiang regime's extermination policy that "no one will be held responsible if Falun Gong practitioners are beaten to death, just count them as suicide," the personal safety and life of Falun Gong practitioners cannot be guaranteed. During her detention, she constantly heard stories of practitioners persecuted to death or disability. Practitioners were not allowed to see their family members. Right before the 2001 New Year, a practitioner was tortured to death. After strong demands from her family members, we got a chance to visit the camp. I really cherished this opportunity since I was afraid I'd never see her again! One day after the New Year when we went to visit my sister, a police guard at the entrance to the labor camp tricked us into signing an agreement for a "gate pass" that had words slandering Falun Gong by covering those words with his hand. Later, I heard that an incarcerated practitioner's two daughters had refused to sign the agreement and were not allowed to visit their relative. This practitioner told the labor camp guards, "I am proud of both of my daughters!"

Soon afterwards, my mother was illegally arrested again and detained in the same forced labor camp. Around the 2002 New Year, my mother and sister started hunger strikes to resist the persecution. When my sister was on the verge of death, labor camp officials told me, "Bring 2000 yuan and pick up your sister." The next day I gathered up 500 yuan. The supervisor of the labor camp's women's team told me, "Although you do not have enough money, you have relatives. Borrow money from them!" I said, "I can borrow from them, but how can I pay them back?" After listening to me, she left without a word. In order to get my sister out of the labor camp as soon as possible, I paid 500 yuan in cash, signed an acknowledgement of debt for 2000 yuan, and was forced to write a guarantee statement.

After that, my mother was on the verge of death several times. The labor camp again ordered me to pay money and also to turn in my sister in exchange for my mother. How terrible their words were! My sister had just been recovering from her brush with death, and my mother's life was in extreme danger. How could I choose between them? The experience was terribly painful. When I went to the hospital, I could barely recognize my mother because she had been tortured so badly. My first words to her were, "Mom? Is it you, Mom?" The police guards kept demanding that I tell them my real address and my employer, and said they were going to arrest my sister immediately. Facing those responsible, who had no human conscience, was extremely painful. I did not tell them where my sister was. However, I was very worried about my mother's health. I paid them more than a thousand yuan and wrote a guarantee statement for my mother. I saw that my mother was extremely weak and had been reduced to skin and bones. After reading my guarantee statement, the supervisor of the women's team angrily threw it back at me and said, "This is not a guarantee--it's more like a set of accusations against us!" As a result, my mother was not released. As weak as she has become from the mental and physical torture, she is still required to do forced labor.

This persecution is still going on. So many practitioners are being jailed or detained. Their family members are suffering the same torment.

Ms. Jiang Xiangqin, 65 years old, was from San Village, Laochi Town, Chuanshan District, Suining City, Sichuan Province. Before she practiced Falun Gong, she was seriously ill and could not move around by herself. Since she started the practice, the diseases that troubled her for a long time were healed and her health improved. After the persecution began, she was forced to leave home and go from place to place to avoid being arrested and tortured because she refused to renounce Falun Gong. She was not able to regularly study the Fa or do the exercises. On April 10, 2005, she passed away.

Mr. Zheng Lun, 78 years old, was from the Third Group, San Village, Fengtaixiang, Xinqiao Town, Suining City, Sichuan Province. After he started to practice Falun Dafa in 1996, his rheumatism was cured. Mr. Zheng went to Beijing to validate the Fa in 2000. On his way there, he was arrested and escorted back home. He was then detained in the detention center for more than four months and subjected to various forms of torture. He was forced to pay more than 1,000 yuan before being released. During Mr. Zheng's detention, his son, also a practitioner, was sentenced to three years in prison.

After being released from the second detention, Mr. Zheng wrote a solemn declaration to void the guarantee statement to not practice Falun Gong that he had signed under pressure. Liu Bailing, Head of the town's 610 Office, accompanied the local police and broke into Mr. Zheng Lun's home in the middle of the night to forcibly take him away. The persecution caused the elderly man's previous illnesses to recur. On March 17, 2005, Mr. Zheng passed away.

Ms. Xie Wenfen, 54 years old, was from Suining City, Sichuan Province. All of her diseases, including uterine carcinoma, were cured after she started practicing Falun Gong. In 2000, the local perpetrators constantly harassed her at home and forced her to hand in all of her Falun Gong books. As a result, she was unable to regularly study the Fa and do the exercises. The persecution traumatized her both physically and mentally. Her cancer came back and she passed away in July 2002.

Mr. Tang Duorong, 62 years old, was from the Third Team, Laochi Town, Suining City, Sichuan Province. Since the persecution began in July 1999, he was continuously harassed and fined because he practiced Falun Gong. He also could not study the Fa and do the exercises regularly. The persecution created huge mental pressure for him. He passed away on October 22, 2000.

Mr. Luo Qingming, 52 years old, was from Jieyi village, Gaoping Town, Pengxi County, Suining City, Sichuan Province. He went to Beijing to appealled for Falun Dafa the Fa in 2000, and was persecuted after he returned. He was put under house arrest. The intense pressure caused his previous disease to recur. He passed away on December 21, 2000.

Ms. Meng Yuhua was from Suining City, Sichuan Province. She was detained twice in 2003 and 2004 respectively. The persecution caused her to get lung cancer. She passed away in early June of 2004.

Ms. Xu Qing is a practitioner from Tongzhou District, Dazhou City, Sichuan Province. In December 2000, she was arrested on her way to appeal in Beijing. She was then detained at the Dazhou City Detention Center, where she was subjected to maltreatment and lost consciousness. Her family was called to take her home. She recovered after an emergency treatment, but became mentally confused and broke down. Her family was deeply misled by the CCP's propaganda and had misunderstandings toward Falun Gong. Her family did not allow her to practice and refused to allow other practitioners to talk with her. Xu Qing passed away on April 16, 2005.

Her husband had practiced for several months, but he eventually stopped practicing. After the persecution of Falun Gong began, he reported her to the police when she went to appeal in Beijing.

1. [Lanzhou City, Gansu Province] Mr. Niu Wanjiang Was Illegally Sentenced to Three Years of Imprisonment and Tortured

Mr. Niu Wanjiang, 40 years old, was an employee of the Lanxi Section of the Lanzhou Railway Bureau. Because he practiced Falun Gong, he was sentenced to three years of imprisonment in September 2002. He is being held in Section 7 of the Lanzhou Jail.

During his imprisonment, Mr. Niu Wanjiang was twice placed under "special surveillance" in confinement. Because he went on a hunger strike to protest his arrest, he was viciously tortured and lost consciousness. The police also stopped his family from visiting him for six months.

Practitioners, including Mr. Yang Zuxiang, were arrested on November 29, 2004 in Suining City when they were clarifying the truth. Mr. Yang Zuxiang and a female practitioner are being detained at the Rehabilitation Center. Wen Juping is being held at the Suining City Shelter Center. The remaining practitioners are being confined in the Suining City Detention Center.

Wu Ai'zhong, Ms. Zhang Hui, Lu Quanzeng, and Ms. Li Yuyang were put into a brainwashing class on January 8, 2005. When the police failed to brainwash them, they were arrested and now face sentencing.

Mr. Sun Changshun from Hailing City, Heilongjiang Province lived within the jurisdiction of the No. 3 Police Substation, Huodaonan, Hailin City. On November 19, 2002, Mr. Sun was arrested by policemen Jiang Yuantao and Jin Haizhu from the National Security Team of Hailing City. He was interrogated and tortured. The most vicious thing that the police did was to apply mustard oil to his eyes, mouth, nose and ears and place a plastic bag over his face so that he could not breathe. As a result, he experienced retina detachment in his eyes. Mr. Sun Changshun was first held at the Hailing City Detention Center. In 2003, he was sentenced to six years and sent to the Mudanjiang Jail, where he continues to be tortured.
