  • Methods Used Recently by Nanmusi Forced Labor Camp in Sichuan Province to Persecute Falun Gong Practitioners

Nanmusi Forced Labor Camp in Zizhong County, Sichuan Province, follows Jiang Zemin's lead closely in the illegal persecution of Falun Gong. For more than six years, in order to force practitioners to give up their beliefs in Falun Gong, Nanmusi Forced Labor Camp has been using all sorts of inhumane methods to torture practitioners both physically and mentally. The tortures have included brainwashing, extension of sentences, slave labor, the tiger bench, electric baton shocks, police baton beatings, wolf-teeth clubs, leather belts, bamboo sticks, tying up with thin ropes, cuffing arms and legs to an iron bed, exposure to the baking sun, exposure to extreme cold, merciless beatings, confinement in water dungeons, forced feedings, beating the joints of arms and legs, stabbing into the vagina with chopsticks, incarcerating nursing mothers, and humiliating practitioners by stripping them naked. The following are additional methods adopted recently by Namusi Forced Labor Camp to persecute Falun Gong practitioners:

    1. The guards force practitioners to drink water without stopping. Sometimes the water has laundry powder mixed in it. Then they refuse to let practitioners use the toilet. As a result, urine and excrement stream down the practitioners' trousers. The guards forbid the practitioners to take off their trousers, even if they, their trousers and their quilts are all soaked with urine. Even more despicably, the guards force practitioners to swallow urine.

    2. The guards put practitioners' legs into the double-crossed position and then tie both arms and legs with ropes. The practitioner's arms and legs soon discolor. Sometimes they are tied in this position for as long as two days.

    3. The guards force practitioners to lie down on a bench, and then the guards jump on their bodies and stomp on their stomachs and chests.

    4. The guards burn practitioners' private areas with a cigarette lighter.

    5. The guards, or criminals under the direction of the guards, pinch practitioners' breasts until they bleed.

    6. The guards deprive practitioners of sleep and force them to stand against a wall for as long as one to two months.

    7. Four guards surround one practitioner from four directions and then beat and kick him/her.

    8. According to the labor law, citizens should only work for at most eight hours per day. But work in the fourth team of Nanmusi Forced Labor Camp starts at 6:20 a.m. and ends at 2:00 a.m. the next morning. If the cadre on night patrol comes by, the guards order the practitioners to turn off the lights to pretend that no one is working. After the cadre leaves, they force the practitioners to turn on the lights and resume work.

    9. The fourth team continues to increase the inmate labor quotas. The quota for picking pig hairs increased from 18 kilograms per day in 2004 to 28 kilograms for Falun Gong practitioners, who are all older. The forced labor also includes making toys and doing handicrafts. Sometimes practitioners have to work through the night. Their sentences will be extended if they can't meet the quota.

    10. The guards cuff practitioners' arms and legs to the bed with four pairs of handcuffs and brutally beat them.

A Five-Year-Old Child Repeats Over and Over: "I Want My Father and Mother to Come Home"
A Letter to Young Bai Zhenyu

    Little Child,

I received your photo today. When I saw it, tears kept running down my face, and my heart was bleeding for you, for your old ailing grandmother, for your uncle Bai Xiaojun, who was cruelly killed by unlawful policemen, and for your parents, who are suffering the brutal persecution because they are kind-hearted Falun Gong practitioners. Your parents have been absurdly arrested by the insane Chinese Communist Party.

Little child, I know your name is Bai Zhenyu and you are only five years old. Since your father, Bai Shaohua, and Mother, Ji Lei, were illegally arrested, I have always been thinking about you, your innocence, your small frame and your vulnerability.

Little child, I know that you like painting. This passion and skill was passed to you by your family. Remember, the more beauty you create, the less your parents suffering from the evil persecutors will affect your pure heart. Little child, I can not imagine how you feel. You should not have to bear this pain at such a young age.

Before you were born, your family had already suffered from cruel persecution several times. Your pregnant mother was transported a long distance and illegally arrested. When you were very young, it was difficult for you to see your father. In your memory, he has always been arrested and persecuted. Your uncle was already tortured to death after suffering long-term brutal persecution. Your mother and grandmother were drained of tears. Your father has painfully said, "She (your mother) held my child up to see me in the gloomy, sorrowful detainment center. Even my small child felt fear. My child cried and shouted 'I want my father go home,' But the evil policeman took me away quickly. My child's cries penetrated deep into my heart. I do not want my daughter to suffer. This evil persecution should not happen."

You and your grandmother also were illegally seized by policemen who broke into your house during a large scale arrest campaign of Falun Gong practitioners before October 1. How did you handle this at such a young age of five and a half years old? When you and your grandmother came back to the empty house, you repeated again and again, "I want my father and mother to come back!" Little child, do you remember? Everyone who hears about your situation feels so sorry for you and they look for ways to help you, your parents and your grandmother.

Your parents, uncle, and grandmother, just like all Falun Gong practitioners, firmly believe in "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance." They do not want others to be deceived by the evil, and they suffer persecution only because they tell others Falun Dafa is good. They are righteous. When you grow up, you will know about their dignity.

Little beautiful Zhenyu, you are only five and half years old and so weak. When you were frightened, crying out from your dream and asking for your father and mother, your grandmother told you that your parents will come back soon. You believed it was true and tried hard to stop crying.

I don't know how to relieve your suffering. You might not understand what I wrote and said now. But child, aunt tells you that there are still a lot of good people in this world, besides some wicked persons. They are calling for an end to this persecution and are appealing to release your parents back to your side.

Let me tell them the words in your mind, "I want my father and mother to come back to me!" and let me represent you to thank all the kind-hearted people who care and who help you and your parents.

Child, aunt hopes you will have your family reunion very soon and that the evil persecution will end as soon as possible.

Persecution at the Xindian Women's Labor Camp in Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province

I was illegally arrested in 2004 and was sent to the Shanxi Province Women's Forced Labor Camp, also called the Xindian Women's Forced Labor Camp. I witnessed the guards cruelly torturing Falun Gong practitioners who were forced to do slave labor in a toxic environment. The guards hit practitioner Xin Enhao from Datong all over her body with a club. They stabbed her thighs and arms with needles, pinched her private area and kicked her stomach.

Group 3 was specifically established for the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. The detainees in this group are almost exclusively Falun Gong practitioners. There are also a few inmates who are drug addicts whom the guards handpicked to aid in the persecution. Some of the inmates are tall and strong, while some are short, but vicious. The guards live on the third floor. The first floor is the workshop where the practitioners are forced to do heavy labor or processing work that other people are unwilling to do. The second floor is where the practitioners are held, and the criminal inmates are on the third floor with the guards. The whole building is shrouded in an atmosphere of terror, and slanderous banners and pictures defaming Falun Gong are posted all over the place.

The authorities at the labor camp collude with lawless vendors and make many substandard products. The labor camp authorities and the vendors don't need to pay a salary, taxes, rent or utilities in making these products. At the same time, the guards achieve their goal of persecuting Falun Gong. They make huge profits by exploiting the practitioners. They make full use of the taxpayers' money that went into building and maintaining the labor camp. For example, the practitioners are forced to package millet, green beans and walnuts. Before the Chinese New Year, they are even busier as they process various products including advertisements, antithetical couplets and labels that are printed in underground printing factories. There is a lot of money to be made in the month before the Chinese New Year, therefore all the work tasks during that month are urgent ones, and the practitioners are forced to stay up all night to finish the jobs. The greedy guards force all practitioners and inmates to work around the clock, even if they are ill. If they don't work, they are tortured.

The practitioners are often made to process cigarette lighters in a workshop laden with toxic fumes. The toxic plastics and oil evaporate into the air, and the practitioners inhale the fumes because they are not issued any protective gear. Many practitioners soon develop all kinds of allergies.

In the summer the workshop has no cooling fan. More than 90 practitioners sit in a workshop 80 square meters in size, and they sweat profusely. The practitioners are forced to get up at 6:00 a.m., take a short break at noon, and then work until past 10:30 p.m. In the daytime they are forced to work and endure physical torture, and in the evening they are subjected to brainwashing. They also have to knit sweaters, make insoles, do laundry for the guards and clean the floors. They work over 11 hours each day. The guards said to the practitioners, "If our superiors ask you how long you work each day, you have to say six hours. Tell them we do our own cleaning, and don't tell them about knitting sweaters for us."

There are nine squadrons in Group 3. Each squadron consists of twelve people headed by a squadron head and a deputy squadron head who monitor all of the practitioners' daily activities. There are five self-appointed "civil administrative personnel." The guard in charge of "studying" thinks of various ways to brainwash the practitioners. She takes pleasure in persecuting people. Newly arrived practitioners are initially confronted with the "civil administrative personnel" who use various methods in attempts to brainwash the practitioner. The practitioner is then beaten. Punching and kicking are considered "light." They gag the practitioner's mouth with dirty rags to prevent her from screaming.

Practitioner Xin Enhao from Datong, Shanxi Province, is in her 20s. She was illegally sentenced to 18 months of forced labor. Every time her term was about to expire, the authorities extended her term, and they have done this three times. Each time the extension was three months, so she was held at the labor camp for a total of 27 months. The guards took a picture of her during interrogation and enlarged the picture and posted it in the hallway to humiliate her. They ordered inmates and collaborators to torture her over the course of more than two years. Upon her arrival, Xin Enhao was not allowed to sleep, to use the restroom, to drink, or to eat. She was detained in solitary confinement. She was only given cold buns and stale salted vegetables. The persecutors shoved the buns into her mouth and would not allow her to swallow on her own. She was forced to relieve herself inside the cell. When she was extremely thirsty, her tormentors made her drink urine. She was forced to wear very thin clothes in the winter. The inmates beat her entire body with a club, stabbed her thighs and arms with needles, and banged her head against the bed. Xin Enhao was tortured until she became incontinent.

The guards and inmates said, "Xin Enhao stinks so bad!" They constantly pinched her private area and kicked her stomach and private area until she bled profusely from her vagina. They used bamboo planks and bamboo sticks to beat her. The inmates monitored Xin Enhao while forcing her to stand against the wall all day long and hit her whenever she moved. They also poured cold water on her head.

Xin Enhao did not give up Falun Gong practice despite the vicious environment and the cruel torture. One time she met a newly arrested practitioner and passed a slip of paper to this practitioner. She wrote on the paper, "Do you have Master's new articles?" She thus risked punishment in order to have a chance to read the teachings of Falun Gong.

Practitioner Pei Xiuying, 44, from Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province was twice detained at the labor camp. After her second arrest she held a hunger strike to protest the torture. The guards detained her in the interrogation room on the second floor and ordered inmates to watch her. In the middle of the night the guards and inmates savagely beat her. Her screams could be heard from the other end of the hallway. On the evening of February 8, 2005, everyone heard Pei Xiuying screaming. Guards Meng Hao and Lei Hongzhen were on duty. They were afraid of people learning of the torture. They hastily closed the door and Meng Hao loudly cursed Pei Xiuying.

On the afternoon of February 14, guards Wang Xinhong, Liang Junxia and Kong Jianying ordered inmates Na Xiaoyan, Tie Yandong and Lian Li to beat the practitioners. Wang Xinhong and Liang Junxia ordered other people to beat the practitioners, and Kong Jianying to stand guard outside the door. Guo, head of the labor camp, was accompanying some officials on an inspection. The officials heard some moaning and asked, "What's going on?" The guards told them the inmates were disobedient and were fighting with each other, and the officials went away. Less than ten minutes after Guo left, the three guards brought in Wang Chong, the most vicious of all the inmates, in addition to the three other inmates, to savagely beat Pei Xiuying. They beat her until all of the guards and inmates were exhausted. The guards rewarded the inmates, and Wang Chong received a three-month sentence reduction.

Later, other practitioners were sent to the labor camp: Niu Lanying, 44, who lived in Datong and worked as an accountant for the railway bureau, Ma Yueying, who is in her 40s, and lived in Datong, Shanxi Province, and Li Runfang, 35, whose left leg is amputated below the knee. She walks with a prosthesis. She lived in Taiyuan City. These practitioners are still being persecuted. All three practitioners were arrested for the second time. Ma Yueying and Li Runfang were not allowed to sleep normally after arriving at the labor camp. They were forced to work day and night. The inmates and collaborators monitored them from the beginning and used various cruel means to torture them. Li Runfang is handicapped and the torture is even more painful for her, yet the persecutors enjoy the practitioners' suffering.

Practitioner Niu Lanying was detained in the barber's room by guards from Group 3. They covered all the windows with cloth and ordered inmates and collaborators to monitor and torture her. Due to a shortage of thugs, the guards later detained Ma Yueying, Li Runfang and Niu Lanying together and the perpetrators monitored them around the clock. They were afraid Niu Lanying would shout out things to expose their deeds, so they taped her mouth shut. Niu Lanying went on a hunger strike for a long time. The guards feared her death, so they detained her with a mentally ill inmate and removed the tape from her mouth. Niu Lanying shouted, "Falun Dafa is good! Truth Compassion Tolerance is good! It's a crime to persecute innocent people! It's wrong to not allow Li Runfang to sleep!"

There was construction in the courtyard, and many of the workers quietly listened to her. The perpetrators force-fed Niu Lanying daily with corn porridge and salt. They took Niu Lanying to the infirmary room on the second floor of another building. Niu Lanying shouted, "Falun Dafa is good!" everywhere she went.

After 73 days of a hunger strike, Niu Lanying was skin and bones, but she still persisted in her belief. She was at the brink of death, and the guards didn't want her to die at the labor camp, so they secretly sent her home. They told people at the labor camp, "We sent Niu Lanying to a large hospital for medical treatment." Several months later the guards went to Niu Lanying's home and saw that she had somewhat recovered, so they took her back to the labor camp. She again went on a hunger strike, and her current situation is unknown.

To this day, the guards and their accomplices still torture all of the Falun Gong practitioners detained at Xindian Women's Forced Labor Camp.

People at Group 3 who persecute the practitioners include group head Meng Hao, political head Liu Zhongmei, deputy head Lei Hongzhen who was transferred away, guards Wang Dali, Wang Xinghong, Shi Jian, Yang Bin, Kong Jianying, Liang (given name unknown), Liang Junxia, Chen Chunxiang, Cheng Donghui, Shang (given name unknown), and Yan (given name unknown). Guards who were transferred away include Xiao Yan, Zhao Wenlian, and Gao. Inmates who are drug addicts include Wang Chong from Taiyuan City, Tie Yandong from Yuncheng, Li Yuping from Taiyuan City, Na Xiaoyan from Taiyuan City, Lian Li from Yuncheng, Hu Yinglian from Dai County, Bian Wenjing from Taiyuan City, and Yang Yulian from Datong.

Persecution of Falun Gong practitioners similar to what takes place at the Xindian Women's Forced Labor Camp is happening on a daily basis throughout China. The head perpetrators responsible for the persecution are the evil Chinese Communist Party and Jiang Zemin.

How Mr. Hao Wenmin Was Persecuted to Death by the Handan Forced Labor Camp

Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Hao Wenmin, 43, was from Lianghexia Village, Chengguan Township, Wei County, Handan City, Hebei Province. After the persecution of Falun Gong began, he was harassed and persecuted by the vicious local police, the 610 Office, and the Handan Forced Labor Camp. Unable to endure the cruel persecution, he passed away on October 15, 2005.

After they started practicing Falun Gong, Mr. Hao and his family benefited a great deal. From July 1999, when the persecution began, to the 2002 New Year holiday, personnel from the local police department and the 610 Office constantly harassed Mr. Hao because of his unwillingness to give up his belief in Falun Gong. Twice he was unlawfully detained. He went on hunger strikes to protest the unlawful arrests and was released without yielding to the persecutors.

On March 7, 2002, police from the Zhangnan Police Branch Station in Wei County arrested Mr. Hao Wenmin and sent him to a county detention center because he clarified the truth about the persecution of Falun Gong. After he went on a hunger strike for 20 days to protest the persecution, the police released him. In May 2002, three police officers from Wei County found Mr. Hao and lied to him, asking him to repair a TV for them. (Mr. Hao made a living repairing TVs). When Mr. Hao brought his tools to the county police department, they arrested him and sent him to the Handan Forced Labor Camp. When they got to the labor camp, a policeman from Wei County said to him, "Weren't you released after you went on a hunger strike? Let see how you'll get out of here this time."

Mr. Hao was sent to the "special unit" in charge of Falun Gong practitioners in the Handan Forced Labor Camp. To try to force practitioners to give up their beliefs in Falun Gong, they were made to listen to audio programs slandering Falun Gong. Some personnel acted as if they were practitioners in an attempt to change Mr. Hao's belief in Falun Gong. But Mr. Hao persisted in practicing Falun Gong and refused to accept the so-called "reform." They thus escalated their efforts to brainwash him. After some discussions, the captain of the "special unit" decided not to let Mr. Hao sleep. They used criminal inmates to take turns watching him. They refused to let him sleep, sit down, lie down, or lean on a bed. If he closed his eyes, they'd wake him up or beat and kick him. While depriving him of sleep, those in charge of "reforming" took turns speaking to him with their crooked reasoning, and penalized him by forcing him to stand for a long time. Mr. Hao was forced to stand for more than 20 days and nights. His feet and legs swelled, and the capillaries burst. They made him stand under the scorching sun and beat him with electric batons. For the first 12 days, they denied him sleep. But after that, they couldn't even wake him up by beating him. From June to August 2002, Mr. Hao was deprived of sleep for nearly three months.

By the end of August 2002, after being tortured for three months with sleep deprivation, Mr. Hao started a hunger strike to protest their unlawful persecution. On the third day of his hunger strike, Mr. Hao walked unsteadily to the "special unit" as ordered. Labor camp guard Li Haiming said to him fiercely, "You are faking illness. Go to eat, or I'll teach you a terrible lesson." They then used several electric batons to shock him for longer than an hour. His armpits and chest were full of blisters, which oozed with pus.

On the fifth day of his hunger strike, Mr. Hao was in critical condition. His blood pressure plummeted. Afraid of being held responsible, the guards quickly took him to the Fifth Hospital in Handan City for treatment. They then force-fed him while he was being treated. Even under such conditions, they didn't give up trying to brainwash him.

After a period of treatment, Mr. Hao gradually recovered. By New Year's Eve 2003, as Mr. Hao had basically recovered, the "special unit" again reinforced their brainwashing. They used every threat and means of intimidation. In the Handan Forced Labor Camp, when practitioners went on a hunger strike, they were force-fed, shocked with electric batons, beaten, hung up, or locked up. They were force-fed with highly concentrated salt water. Many of them couldn't sustain such torture and resumed taking food. For those who were severely injured, the guards didn't use extreme means to torture them, as they were afraid of causing death and being held responsible.

At the beginning of 2004, Mr. Hao's health gradually declined and his food intake decreased. A few days before his release, the "special unit" extended his term for three more months, claiming he had violated the camp's rules. The announcement was timed so as to have the worst effect on his mental state. In April 2004, Mr. Hao was released. He stayed home and couldn't work. He had to depend on his wife to care for him.

In September 2005, policemen Gao Fei, Xing Yansheng, and Gao Jinli from the Handan Forced Labor Camp went to "visit" Mr. Hao, while both Mr. Hao and his wife were at home. When they found out Mr. Hao still believed in Falun Gong, Xing Yansheng threatened him, "If we find Falun Gong material in your home, we'll arrest you." He then added, "In your current condition, you won't survive to see the New Year." (Note: In September 2005, Mr. Hao had a physical. The results indicated that he had a pierced lung and improperly functioning blood platelets, and that his internal organs, except for his heart, showed signs of decline. In addition, he had had blood in his stool for some time. When Xing Yansheng mentioned that Mr. Hao wouldn't live to see the New Year, the two other policemen motioned for him to stop talking about it. Some people suspect that the labor camp had used drugs to poison Mr. Hao while he was in the labor camp.) The policemen's visit cast a shadow on the unfortunate family, according to his friends and relatives who visited him.

On October 15, 2005, Mr. Hao Wenmin passed away.

Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. He Lihua from Daqing Sentenced to a Five-year Term

The Ranghulu District Court in Daqing City tried Falun Gong practitioner Ms. He Lihua twice - on August 11 and on October 13, 2005. No judgment was publicly pronounced for either trial. It was said that the court authorities secretly sentenced He Lihua to a five-year term.

Recently, He Lihua went on another hunger strike, which lasted for over fifteen days. Ms. He was quite weak from the torturous force-feeding and other physical and mental abuse.

During the October 13, 2005, unlawful trial, Ms. He shouted during court, "Falun Dafa is great! Falun Dafa is the righteous way! I'm not wrong practicing Falun Gong!" The chief justice then angrily deprived her of all her rights to defend herself by forcibly removing her from the court. On her way out, Ms. He turned to her 70-year-old mother who sat in the public gallery crying, "Mom, your daughter didn't do anything wrong!"

He Lihua was arrested in mid April 2005. Around noon the day of her arrest she first sent her child to school and then went to the Daqing Department Store to clarify the truth. Later she was arrested and held captive in the Daqing Detention Center. She held a hunger strike to protest two months of persecution. She suffered brutal force-feeding and other tortures, such as sitting on a metal chair. She was finally abused to the point of incontinence.

He Lihua suffered all kinds of persecution over the past few years, only because she firmly believed in "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance." Officials at her work place fired her only because she practices Falun Gong. She was sent to a forced labor camp on March 15, 2001. During her detention in the Harbin Drug Rehabilitation Center, Ms. He was subjected to gross abuses that resulted in her becoming emaciated, incontinent and unable to eat or drink. She finally managed to come out of the rehabilitation center. After He Lihua returned home, a group of people led by Chen Guiqing, head of Harbin Drug Rehabilitation Center, went to her home several times to harass her. Ms. He used her wisdom to avoid "illegal arrest" and other forms of persecution each time.

Fellow practitioners in Daqing: let's take urgent action to expose the evildoers and their evil acts. Let's take more initiative to rescue our fellow practitioners who are still locked up in prisons, forced labor camps and detention centers. Send letters, place calls, clarify the truth to their families, and completely eliminate the arrangements of the old forces.

Seven Falun Gong Practitioners Persecuted to Death in Hebei, Heilongjiang, and Shandong Provinces

Mrs. Liu Xiangzhen, 64, lived in Dongchen Village, Nanzhiqiu Town, Xinji City, Hebei Province. She started practicing Falun Gong in 1997. Before that time she had terminal hepatitis and ascites, and could not take care of herself. Practicing Falun Gong significantly improved her mind and body. Her illnesses vanished. She could work in the field and in her house again. On July 20, 1999, when the persecution began, she "clarified the facts" and appealed for Falun Gong to the Shijiazhuang City government. Because Mrs. Liu refused to renounce the practice, the local 610 Office repeatedly harassed her. Persecutors forced Mrs. Liu to sign fabricated documents, illegally searched her home, and confiscated her Falun Gong books, truth-clarification materials, tractor, motorcycle, TV, and stereo. The 610 Office personnel also frequently detained her relatives for letting her practice Falun Gong. Mrs. Liu's children and children-in-law were persecuted at the Xinli Detention Center. Persecutors also illegally fined the family. Because of long-term persecution, Mrs. Liu passed away on January 25, 2003.

Mr. Li Zhentong, 67, and his wife, Mrs. Zhang Xiuhe, also 67, lived in Qinghuitou Village, Donganzhuang Town, Shenzhou City, Hebei Province. They had joined the peaceful appeal in Beijing on July 20, 1999, and returned home safely. In 2000, police intimidated their son, who was also a practitioner, for distributing truth-clarification materials. He left home for fear of an illegal arrest. Police and 610 Office personnel often harassed and bullied Mr. Li and Mrs. Zhang. They suffered physical and psychological persecution. Mrs. Zhang passed away on July 3, 2003, and Mr. Li died on October 21, 2005.

Mrs. Xu Deyun, 71, lived in Zhaoge Village, Guzhi District, Tangshan City, Hebei Province. Mrs. Xu, her husband Zheng Zhaofu, and their daughter Zhen Xiuzhi began practicing Falun Gong in 1996. They all experienced major health improvements. Between July 1999 and late 2000, Mrs. Xu's daughter twice went to appeal in Beijing for Falun Gong. She was illegally detained four times and tortured in a psychiatric hospital twice. Ms. Zhen Xiuzhi is a former worker at the Tangshan Steel Factory. She was injured at the eighth level in an industrial accident. She was fired by the steel factory. The 610 Office at the steel factory often went to her home and harassed her. Later, she was forced to leave home for two and a half years because she was reported for producing truth-clarifying materials. Between September 2000 and April 2001, Mr. Zheng was detained in the Fengnan Detention Center, because he had gone to Beijing to appeal. His health severely deteriorated during the imprisonment. Even after he was released, officers from the Changchun Road Police Station still frequently came to harass them at home. Mrs. Xu's health also deteriorated as a result of the persecution. She died on November 18, 2005.

Ms. Song Min, 34, worked in the Hubei Institute of Hydroelectricity. She started practicing in 1998. During the persecution, the political office in the Institute frequently threatened her to renounce Falun Gong. In December 2001, Institute officials and 610 officers illegally arrested Ms. Song from work and took her to the Yangyuan Brainwashing Center. Torture emaciated Ms. Song. Following her release in August 2002, Ms. Song was relegated to a lower position at the Institute. The persecution severely injured Ms. Song physically and psychologically. She passed away on November 7, 2005.

Mr. Liu Yuchen, 64, lived in the Xiangyang District, Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province. He began practicing in 1995, and his health improved greatly. Despite the intense persecution, Mr. Liu, his wife, and daughter kept on practicing and appealing for Falun Gong. They were harassed, detained, and fined many times. Their property was confiscated. Mr. Liu's nephew, also a practitioner, was tortured to death in the Daqing Forced Labor Camp. In the last few years, Mr. Liu's family has suffered heavy psychological and physical losses. Unable to bear the pressure of this brutal persecution, Mr. Liu died on November 21, 2005.

Mr. Sun Fuxi, 68, lived in Zhenhaiya Village, Binyu Town, Weihai City, Shandong Province. He started practicing in 1995 and experienced a big improvement in his health. During the persecution, local police and government officials frequently harassed him at home. His wife was illegally detained many times. Unable to bear the pressure of this brutal persecution, Mr. Sun passed away on August 2, 2005.
