  • Falun Gong Practitioner Mr. Hao Wenmin from Wei County, Hebei Province Tortured To Death

Mr. Hao Wenmin from Wei County, Hebei Province passed away on October 15, 2005 after the Handan City Forced Labor Camp brutally tortured him and caused him to be seriously disabled and ill.

Mr. Hao Wenmin, 44 years old, was from Hexia Village, Chengguan town, Wei County, Handan City in Hebei Province. Since July 20, 1999, the Wei County 610 Office and police continually harassed Hao Wenmin because he did not give up his belief in Falun Gong. He was illegally detained twice. Mr. Hao went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution. Because his life was in danger, the authorities had to send him to the hospital for emergency treatment.

In May 2002, the Wei County Police Department tricked him into going to the police department and illegally detained him in the Handan City Forced Labor Camp for further persecution.

During his detention in the labor camp, Hao Wenmin was forced to stand continuously for more than 20 days and was not allowed to sleep for more than three months. The police left him exposed to the sun, hit him and used electric batons to beat him. This ill treatment put his life in grave danger many times, and he was twice sent to the Fifth Hospital in Handan City for emergency treatment.

In April 2004, Hao Wenmin was released. Because of the long-term brutal persecution, his body and mind suffered greatly, and he could no longer work. His health worsened day by day.

In September 2005, Hao Wenmin was sent to the Wei County Hospital for emergency treatment. The examination results showed severe anemia, and his kidney, liver, intestines, stomach and urinary tract were all infected. Hao Wenmin passed away on October 15, 2005.

(Note: When Hao Wenmin was detained in the Handan City Forced Labor Camp, he may have been injected with unknown drugs. In September 2005, three police from the Handan City Forced Labor suddenly came to see Hao Wenmin and they told him that he would certainly not live out the rest of the year.)

Police Arrest Many Practitioners in Daqing City, Helongjiang Province

On October 20, the Daqing Police Department shamelessly claimed that they had set up a complete network to deal with Falun Gong practitioners. This network included informants from every level of society ranging from the police to security guards in the communities. In addition, 70 people were hired as "special informants" to closely monitor practitioners. As a matter of fact, the first item listed in all the recent work reports from the police division are the phone numbers of the arrested practitioners and the homes that were ransacked, including the property confiscated.

On September 23, 2005, Daqing police arrested 30 practitioners via spying, telephone-tapping, deception and abduction. Not only did they confiscate Falun Gong books and material but also other personal property. Police in the detention center have become completely unconscionable. Practitioner Tang Zengyie was tied to a metal chair, beaten viciously, and violently force-fed until Tang started to spit up blood and was on the verge of death.

Practitioner Ms. Yuan Mi was tied to a chair for five days. The police covered her head with a black plastic bag and used smoke from burning cigarettes to suffocate her. Ms. Yuan was also deprived of food and sleep. When she was released from the chair, her feet were so swollen that she could no longer walk. Even in that condition, the police still instructed other inmates to pour cold water over her head. Two days later, she was interrogated and tied to a metal chair for 12 hours. Ms. Yuan was then sent to the Harbin Rehab Center for further persecution.

Practitioner Ms. Cheng Jinzhi was taken to Daqing Detention Center for interrogation right after she was arrested on September 23. She was tied to a chair for four days. The police put mustard oil on her eyes. She was not allowed to sleep or eat. Several people interrogated her until she passed out and had to be taken to a hospital.

Some female practitioners were tied to the chairs and not allowed to use the toilet, sleep, or change sanitary napkins. When the police poured a bucket of cold water over their heads, the water mixed with menstrual blood and flowed all over the floor. As one of the city officials put it, "There are hardly any good people among the Daqing police officers, and some of them are worse than animals."

In the past several years, police officers have followed the policy of "defame their reputations, bankrupt them financially, and destroy them physically" in dealing with practitioners. Since July 20, 1999, 56 practitioners in Daqing City have been confirmed dead through unofficial sources. That is one of the highest death tolls of all the cities in China. A large number of practitioners have been arrested, fired from their jobs, blackmailed, tortured, illegally detained, and sent to forced labor camps. Many practitioners' families have broken apart, and some people have been forced to leave their homes to avoid further persecution.

Practitioner Mr. Wang Binsheng was a computer engineer from the Exploration and Development Research Institute of Daqing Oil Field and had won the second place National Science Award. He was illegally imprisoned. On September 27, 2000, under orders from police guard Feng Xi from the 2nd Group of Daqing Forced Labor Camp, a group of inmates was instructed to beat Mr. Wang to death if he refused to write a guarantee statement. As a result, Mr. Wang's aorta was ruptured, and his tonsils and lymph nodes were smashed. He had multiple bone fractures and several burn marks from cigarettes on the backs of his hands. His nostrils were also burned by cigarettes and bruises covered his body. He was tortured literally to the brink of death. That evening someone asked the prison guard to take Mr. Wang to a hospital after he passed out from the beating. But the guard refused and claimed that he would come to after a while. Mr. Wang was sent to the hospital the next day, but the doctor said that it was too late. Because of the ruptured aorta, Mr. Wang died of heart failure on October 4, 2000.

Practitioner Mr. Zuo Guoqin was imprisoned twice for practicing Falun Gong. During his second imprisonment, he was force-fed even though he was not on a hunger strike. The guards force-fed him highly concentrated salt water as a means of torture. As a result, he developed pleurisy and inflammation of the chest cavity. He was released for medical treatment. In May 2003, Mr. Zuo was arrested by police from the Jianhua Police Station and the Daqing State Security Bureau and tortured. Later he was persecuted in the Suihua City Forced Labor Camp. Four collaborators closely monitored and brainwashed him every day. Due to the persecution, Mr. Zuo's physical condition deteriorated day by day. A month later, his entire body had become swollen. He could no longer eat and could hardly breathe. Mr. Zuo died in October at his hometown in Hunan Province.

Practitioner Ms. Gao Shuqing was a teacher at the 12th Middle School of Daqing City. She was recognized with an award as an excellent teacher. Because of her belief in Falun Gong, the police extorted all of her money. Her husband, Mr. Li Lin, was arrested on March 26, 2004. That night, the police locked Ms. Gao in her own home and she could not get out. At noon the next day, she tried to lower herself from a window using bed sheets, but the sheets ripped apart and she fell. The police at the scene did not call for rescue; instead they called their supervisor and asked if they should try to save her. Ms. Gao died on the scene.

The following practitioners have died from persecution: Li Baoshui, Wang Bin, Zhang Weixin, Zheng Wenqing, Niu Huaiyi, Wang Keming, Hua Haiyu, Li Yuanguang, Wang Chuanping, Yang Lifan, Cui Shuzhi, Zhang Shouyun, Yang Yushan, Li Hongyin, Yang Yuehua, Wang Hongde, He Xuyan, Wang Chengyuan, Zhang Tieyan, Yie Xiufeng, Li Xiaorong, Shang Guangsheng, He Huajiang, Li Xiufeng, Lu Binseng, Wang Guofang, Jin Shulian, Guo Ailin, Ma Baosheng, Chen Qiujue, Liu Tonglin, Cheng Fengzhi, Wu Liangyou, Xiu Jishan, Zheng Yansheng, Liu Sumei, Cui Xiaojuan, Chen Qiulan, Lu Xiuyue, Wang Shuqing, Yu Yongquan, Liu Tonglin, Zou Guoqin, Gao Shuqing, Guo Yuzheng, Pei Shurong, Chen Shuxian, Chen Tinfa, Wang Zhixin, Cui Shuping, Liu Shu, Tian Jierong, and Yang Shuqing.

In addition, there was a couple with surname of Chen from Zhaoyuan County who also died from persecution. Another 18-year-old girl died as well. According to insider information, the director of the police department was personally involved in destroying the evidence.

More about Missing Falun Gong Practitioner Mr. Wu Hongwen from Changsha

Mr. Wu Hongwen, born on November 27, 1969, is a Falun Gong practitioner from the Furong District of Changsha City in Hunan Province. His father Mr. Wu Qingzhang is a retired cadre from the Hunan Provincial General Office of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and his mother, Ms. Yang Yuhua, is a retired cadre from the Changsha City Radio and Television Bureau. Before he went missing, Mr. Wu lived at 107/11, No. 1 Section of the Dormitory of the Hunan Provincial Party Committee.

    Wu Hongwen

On July 20 1999, the Jiang regime started persecuting Falun Gong. When Mr. Wu went to the Hunan Provincial Government to appeal for the right to practice Falun Gong, the Changsha City Police Department detained him for 48 hours. Around New Year's Day, 2000, he went to Beijing's Tiananmen Square to appeal. There, he was arrested and escorted back to Changsha City. He was detained at the Changsha City No. 3 Detention Center for 15 days. During the detention he persisted in his belief in Falun Gong, refused to cooperate with the prison guards and went on a hunger strike to protest against his detention. As a result of the persecution, his weight dropped from 70 to 55 kilograms.

On February 3, 2000, his family brought him home. That same day, officers from the Rongyuan Police Station came to talk to him and forced him to write a report. At the same time the police and the Rongyuan Neighborhood Committee forced his parents to watch him closely and not let him go out. Under that great pressure, and to avoid the continued persecution, Mr. Wu was forced to leave his home and his parents the following day. At that time he was already very thin owing to the hunger strike. He left in such a hurry that he did not even have time to take a change of clothes; nor did he have any money.

After he left home, the Rongyuan Police kept trying to arrest him. Around May or June, 2000, Mr. Wu went to his uncle's home and borrowed some money. It was learned that Mr. Wu wrote a letter to the Rongyuan Police Station from Hubei Province to clarify the truth to them hoping that they would not listen to the lies fabricated by the Jiang regime and would not get involved in the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners.

The policemen from Rongyuan did not listen to his kind advice but thought they had found a clue to help them arrest him. They sent officers to Hubei in an attempt to arrest him, but they could not find him during their stay. Since then, Mr. Wu has not contacted anyone and at this time his whereabouts are unknown.

After Mr. Wu left home, officers from the Rongyuan Police Station constantly went to his home to harass his family. They also tapped his parents' telephone. They even went to his parents' workplaces requesting that their salaries be stopped. They went to Beijing to look for Mr. Wu and forced Mr. Wu's parents to pay their airfares and cover all their expenses in Beijing. They even ordered one of Mr. Wu's parents to go with them. Mr. Wu's younger brother suffered from enormous pressure because of the harassment. Both his grandparent-in-laws were very much afraid and passed away one after the other in less than a year. Mr. Wu's grandmother died because of the worries about her grandson and the fear of harassment.

A good person was forced to leave his home simply because he persisted in his belief in "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance" and refused to succumb to the pressure or betray his conscience and normal human feelings. A happy family has been broken up. The sufferings of Mr. Wu and his family is another example of the persecution going on in China.

The Rongyuan Police Station and the Rongyuan Neighborhood Committee are not only responsible for the disappearance of Mr. Wu, but also for the persecution of all Falun Gong practitioners living in the area.

Teacher Ms. Tan Xiufen of the Guangxi Province Tiandong Petrochemical Headquarters is Detained

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Tan Xiufen, is 43 years old and a teacher at the school of the Guangxi Province Tiandong Petrochemical Headquarters. At 8:30 a.m. on September 28, 2005, she was "illegally arrested." She is being detained in the Tiandong County detention center in Guangxi Province.

According to the news, many government departments were involved in this action, including the Tiandong County Police Department, the Politics and Law Committees, the 610 Office, the Heheng Township Police Department, and the Pingma Town Police Department. Together they sent 6 police cars with more than 20 officers, who rushed into the classroom and arrested Ms. Tan while she was teaching. They then forced their way into her house and office and confiscated a lot of Falun Gong books and truth clarifying materials including her computer and printer.

Practitioners in Baise City in Guangxi Province started to practice Falun Gong later than those in other areas, so they stepped out later. They were less skilled at computers than others, and all these factors kept the news of their persecution hidden until now.

For example, in October 2004, when Nanning City in Guangxi Province held the Dongmeng trade fair, practitioners encountered serious persecution. A large number of practitioners were arrested, put into labor camps, and sentenced. This year during the Dongmeng trade fair, 610 officials started their secret action again; it was so confidential that the highest ranking city 610 officials and the local division of National Security did not even know about it.

Here are the involved officials and staff members phone numbers:

Ms. Niu Yuhuan from Jiamusi Labor Camp Experiences Kidney Failure as a Consequence of Persecution

Ms. Niu Yuhuan is a fifty year-old retired railroad worker from the Jiamusi City Railroad Station. On October 17, 2004, policemen from Qianjin District Police Department in Jiamusi City arrested her. For the whole afternoon, they heavily beat and cursed her, leading to a relapse of her heart disease. Ms. Niu Yuhuan was detained in the Police Department for 28 days, although she was unable to walk because of her heart problem, and was in an extremely weak physical condition. Even in her condition, they sentenced her to three years in a labor camp.

On March 2, 2005, prison guard Li Xiujin (female) from the Jiasusi City Labor Camp deceived Ms. Niu and got her to put her fingerprints on a document that was allegedly for her release. Later she learned that her fingerprints were placed on a brainwashing agreement. Ms. Niu and several other Falun Gong practitioners all wrote Solemn Declarations that their fingerprints, obtained through deceit, were null and void. A prison guard hit Ms. Niu where her body had previously had skin cancer, which worsened her heart disease symptoms. Since that happened, she has often lost consciousness and her life is greatly endangered. On numerous occasions, she was taken to the hospital and the doctors recommended hospitalization. The prison guards refused.

On June 6, 2005, prison guard Li Xiujin (female) forced her to work in the factory. Because she could neither walk nor work, she was punished by being forced to lie on the cement floor for two months. During that period of time, the prison guards even took away the cushion under her body and forced her to sit up. Because Ms. Niu was already experiencing whole body paralysis with severe heart symptoms, she could not sit up. Li Xiujin struggled to carry her onto the Tiger Bench, and called it the "comfort chair." Every time they wanted her to go to the factory or to the dining hall, the guards always forced the other inmates to drag her, instead of carrying her. The friction from being dragged on the floor caused her whole body to experience unbearable pain. The guards still yelled at her nonstop, causing her physical body and her spirit to be greatly damaged. She became terribly skinny. When her family went to visit her, they were refused.

Finally, the prison guards noticed the deterioration of her condition, and sent her to the Central Hospital and the 2nd Hospital. The doctors there diagnosed her as suffering from kidney failure. The guards were afraid that she might die in the Labor Camp. Only then was she released to return home.

The Brutal and Shocking Persecution of Practitioners in Tianjin City Women's Prison

Prison guard Li Hong (female) joined in persecuting Falun Gong practitioners. She works in the 4th Ward in Tianjin City Women's Prison as the deputy ward director. She ordered "personal cangues" (1) to torture practitioners who refused to accept the brainwashing. She tortured the practitioners through "Three Straightenings and One Bench" method (referring to sitting on bench, straightening the waist, straightening the chest, then the legs are straightened together for an extended period of time). If one did not conform to the requirement, they were beaten. When a practitioner sat there until her whole body started to tremble, she was still not allowed to change position. The regular prisoners escalated their torture towards the practitioners in order to reduce their sentences and please the prison guards. Some practitioners' lower limbs were almost paralyzed due to long periods of forced sitting. They were paralyzed below the waist and therefore had trouble walking.

Ms. Xue Guiqing is a Falun Gong practitioner over 50 years old. She is from Wuqing County and went on hunger strike for ten months. The prison guard Li Hong ordered regular prisoners to force-feed her. Afterwards, she was not allowed to use the toilet, forcing her to stain her trousers. During the winter, when the nights were extremely cold, Ms. Xue Guiqing's face was frozen to the point of becoming purple and blue, and her whole body was trembling, but she was not allowed to use quilts, and was locked up for 24 hours. Ms. Xue Guiqing's physical body became very weak and very emaciated. Since June 2005, no one has seen Ms. Xue Guiqing. It has been over four months, and no one knows whether she is still alive.

In the prison cell, if there was one Falun Gong practitioner who refused to be "transformed," then everyone in the cell had to labor, study, and hold meetings for criticism all day long.

The guards from the Fifth Ward of the prison enslaved Falun Gong practitioners. They punished practitioners by forcing them to stand from 5:00 a.m. in the morning until 12:30 a.m., after midnight. The over-loaded labor caused practitioners' fingers to deform, and their joints were all swollen and could no longer stretch. What is even more vicious was that the guard ordered four people to hold a Falun Gong practitioner to the floor to beat her violently. Later the prisoners in Gong's team even hung the beaten practitioner, Ms. Guo Yuqian, from the upper level of the bunk bed.

This is the so-called "Humane Management" of the Tianjin City Women's Prison. The most evil and violent persons are: Xu, Li Lan and Gong (all female). The most severely persecuted Falun Gong practitioners are Ms. Guo Yuqian, Ms. Liu Jinfeng, Ms. Wang Fan, Ms. Wang Guangjuan, Ms. Lin Fuhua, Ms. Li Weizhen, Ms. Shi Zhenhua, and others.
