The Facts of the Persecution of Falun Gong -- October 5, 2005

(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Gao Changying was 58 years old and an employee of Hongtoushan Copper Mine in Qingyuan County, Liaoning Province. On August 26, 2001, he was arrested and brutally beaten by Hongtoushan Police Station Head Liang Daming (male), etc. all night long. His teeth were knocked out, and he passed out. He was sent to Dashagou Detention Center in Qingyuan County the next day, and was sentenced to forced labor. Due to the fact that his life was in danger, the labor camp refused to accept him. He was then detained five more months in Qingyuan County Detention Center, and was released home after being extorted five thousand yuan in cash. The authorities constantly harassed him at home, and he died on September 22, 2005.

According to a witness' statement, "One day around 6 p.m., towards the end of August 2001, we saw a police vehicle suddenly stop at the corner. Station Head Liang Daming led a group of police and the Mine CCP Personnel Chair Geng Huiwen (male), Officer Song Chunhua (female), Yu Wenqiang (male), Service Department Meng Guangcai (male) Wang Zhenyuan (male), etc., came straight to Mr. Gao Changying's home. Liang Daming grabbed Mr. Gao Changying, handcuffed him to the door, then ransacked his home. I was so shocked to see such a mess that they made."

The witness said, "They arrested Mr. Gao Changying and took him to the Police Station. They beat and kicked him all night causing his face to swell and his teeth were all loose. He can only eat hot cereals to this day (he could not chew). The next day, they made him burn under the hot sun the whole day. He was severely injured from being tortured for 24 hours in the Police Station. They took him home the next evening and ransacked his home again. His neighbors saw him beaten to such a degree that they all shed tears. Even a policeman who still had a conscience told his neighbors to collect a petition to have him released; otherwise Liang Daming might beat him to death."

Mr. Gao Changying was detained in the Dashagou Detention Center. During his detention, Mine CCP Personnel Office Chair Geng Huiwen sent Song Chunhua, etc., to Mr. Gao Changying's sister-in-law and brother-in-law's homes to harass them. Several days before Chinese New Year of 2002 (February 12, 2002), Geng Huiuwen and Liang Daming, etc. went to Mr. Gao Changying's home, and threatened Mr. Gao's mother-in-law until she was in tears. Mr. Gao's wife was too scared to go home.

Mr. Gao Changying was sentenced to three years of forced labor, but was rejected by the Camp since he was dying. He was sent back to Dashagou Detention Center, and detained for five more months. He was released home after being extorted five thousands yuan in cash. He had been constantly harassed by lawless official in the Hongtoushan Copper Mine. Under long term persecution, Mr. Gao Changying died on September 22, 2005.

Mr. Cao Jingdong, a Falun Gong practitioner from Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province, was arrested on September 5. He went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution. The Zhaoyuan County Police intended to transfer him to the Daqing Forced Labor Camp, but the camp refused to accept him due to his condition. A joint meeting was held to discuss the issue, attended by personnel from the Public Security Bureau, the 610 Office, the Bureau of Judicature, the Political and Legal Committee, and the Daqing Forced Labor Camp. During the meeting it was concluded that, "if he (practitioner Cao) dies as the result of the hunger strike, the camp won't be held responsible." The labor camp thus took him in. Mr. Cao was force fed with corn paste and his life is now in grave danger.

Exposing the Evil Deeds by the Anzhuang Company

Since July 1999, Anzhuang Company Security Chief Zhu Zunren and Deputy Chief Zhang Aihui have been cooperating with the evil to persecute their employees. On September 3, 2002, practitioner Mr. Cao Jingdong asked Security Chief Zhu Zunren for the money he was owed for when he was unlawfully detained several years ago. Zhu told him, "I'll give you the money next Monday." However, on the morning of September 5, when Mr. Cao Jingdong went to his office to be paid, he was not only denied the money, but arrested and detained at the police station.

In April 2002, Security Chief Zhu Zunren and Deputy Chief Zhang Aihui arrested practitioner Mr. Jiang Derong. In May, Mr. Jiang's mother gave Zhu Zunren 1000 yuan to help locate her son. Zhu put the cash in his drawer and told her, "I'll act as a go-between with the branch office and I guarantee that your daughter-in-law won't be arrested." Not only did Chief Zhu refuse to help Jiang's mother, but he arrested Jiang Derong's wife, Cao Junmei, and sent her to the Hongweixing Brainwashing Center in June 2003.

Mr. Zhang Weixin's salary was also withheld in 2001. When Mr. Zhang went to Security Chief Zhu Zunren for the money, Zhu refused to repay him. When Mr. Zhang went to appeal, he was arrested. Mr. Zhang Weixin was tortured to death on the return train trip.

Earlier in 2000, Mr. Cao Jingdong was also detained for 15 days and released, but later Security Chief Zhu Zunren arrested and sentenced him to two years at a forced labor camp.

I started to practice Falun Gong in 1995. I was arrested several times over the years for clarifying the truth. In February 2000, I was detained for 26 days and fined 5,500 yuan because I appealed for Falun Gong in Beijing. In November 2000, I was arrested again and detained for 20 days for mailing truth clarification materials to government offices. In February 2001, I was arrested for the third time and sent to a brainwashing class, then to the local detention center for one year. On March 16, 2004, I lost my freedom again. I was sentenced to one and a half years at the Nanmusi Forced Labor Camp in Sichuan Province.

After CCTV aired the program about the so-called "self-immolation" during the Spring Festival in 2001, the CCP launched a campaign to forcibly "transform" Falun Gong practitioners and opened brainwashing centers all over China. In February 2001, 5 people, including the heads of our institution, were waiting in my house to "perform a public service." I tried to refuse to attend the brainwashing class, but they gave me no choice.

I was taken to the brainwashing class located at the police station, where wicked staff members read material that slanders Falun Gong. One night, a policeman called my husband and attempted to convince him to pressure me into renouncing my belief. In the class I clarified the truth to them, saying, "Falun Gong guides people to be compassionate and provides them with healthy bodies and high moral standards. What's wrong with that?"

Huang Banghua, the Secretary of the City Committee of Political Science and Law shouted at me, "What Jiang Zemin says is good is good! What Jiang Zemin says is bad is bad! Jiang Zemin says you may not practice, so you must give it up! I used to be a soldier, so don't think for one minute I can't handle you, you Falun Gong practitioner!"

I was taken to the Xuyong County Detention Center, where I conducted a hunger strike to protest the persecution. On the fifth day of my hunger strike, the camp staff tried to force-feed me, which injured my esophagus and lungs. Sometime later, I was handcuffed to a wooden door in a way usually reserved for death row inmates. They injected me with a certain drug, and I have no memory of what happened after that. My family members heard that I was in a coma and hadn't eaten for half a month. They came to see me and asked with tears in their eyes, "Why do you have to hunger strike like this?"

I said, "I'm doing this in protest of their persecution of me. I'm not a criminal, so I won't eat the food of the detention center."

The policemen tried to force me to write a renunciation letter and agree to be interviewed on local television, which I, of course, refused to do. I was detained beyond the end of my term. I appealed, but eventually I was sentenced to one and a half years of forced labor.

In the 7^th team of the Nanmusi Forced Labor Camp, I was frequently persecuted by the policemen and criminals with the torture of "squatting", deprived usage of the toilet, and handcuffed to the bed at night. Additionally, I had to endure beatings and verbal abuse by the criminals.

To my shame, I compromised with the evil, but then the team leader Zhang Xiaofang was forcing the Falun Gong practitioners to spit on a hand-drawn portrait of Teacher, which I refused to do and was punished. Then I was forced to take the "learning and improvement class," accompanied by personal monitors.

During the Spring Festival, the ranking police officer, Li Qi, found out that I was still practicing Falun Gong. After she accused me, she incited several criminals to tie my legs up and gag me with a towel. After three hours my legs were black and blue. After that, I was sent to the "strict management class" on the fourth floor where I suffered relentless brainwashing.

I was finally released in August 2005, and I resumed my role in the Fa-rectification. To eliminate the negative impact of my misconduct, I hereby declare that my words and deeds under forced brainwashing are null and void. I decided to start from scratch and return to my true self through practice, and I will regard the Fa as Teacher, and do well the three things every day.

Wen Xiuzhi and Li Shuxian, two 68-year-old Falun Gong practitioners from Lingyuan, Liaoning Province, were arrested on June 22, 2005 when they were clarifying the facts. They were locked up in the Lingyuan Detention Center. The Lingyuan Police Department filed charges against the two practitioners, and the prosecutor submitted the papers to the court. The lawless personnel have been trying to conduct an illegal trial. These two practitioners have been in detention quite a few times.

Ms. Wen Xiuzhi from Wafangdian, Lingyuan is 68 years old. For expressing the benefits she derived from practicing Falun Gong, the police put her into detention centers at least 12 times, where she has suffered inhuman torture. She was once tortured so severely that she vomited blood. On June 22, 2005 when she and another Falun Gong practitioner named Li Shuxian were clarifying the facts in Wafangdian, Lingyuan, Shenzhangzi Village Communist Party secretary An Jingqi and the head of the village Wen Yongjiang reported them to the authorities. She was arrested by the Wafangdian police and was imprisoned in the Lingyuan Detention Center.

Wen Xiuzhi suffered from various illnesses since her youth. Later she had serious liver disease, as well as serious pulmonary tuberculosis with a continuous cough. Because of severe rheumatism, she had to wear cotton-padded shoes and trousers even in the hottest weather. As she got older, she suffered from coronary heart disease and arteriosclerosis. Later on she suffered from ischium illness, and was paralyzed and bedridden. These illnesses made her short tempered and she cried frequently. Others often heard her speaking to herself, "Living like this is no better than being dead." However, after someone introduced her to Falun Gong, it was long before she started practicing and her illnesses went away.

After the persecution of Falun Gong began, Wen Xiuzhi wanted to tell people of her own personal experience to help them understand what Falun Gong is really about. For doing this, the police detained her at least 12 times, and she suffered inhuman torture.

Ms. Li Shuxian is a villager from Balibao Village in Lingyuan. She started to practice Falun Gong in 1997. Before obtaining the Fa, she had many kinds of illnesses, such as heart disease, gastritis, shoulder bursitis, tracheitis, migraines, rheumatism and other problems. All of these illnesses vanished after she practiced Falun Gong for only half a year. After persecution of Falun Gong started on July 20, 1999, she started to clarify the facts to the public. Personnel from the Xiyao Police Station in Lingyuan arrested her and took away her books. In 2000 she was forced to become destitute and homeless to avoid further persecution. Policeman Li Jiu went to her home and her relative's home to find and harass her. Once when she was at her daughter's home in Jianping County, the police came to hunt her down.

In 2002, Li Shuxian rented a room in a machine factory's residential area, but she was reported to the authorities. Officer Yu Dongguang from the Mohudian local police station in Lingyuan arrested her. She was subjected to electric baton shocks, and she was punched and kicked. The police stomped on her foot while wearing leather shoes, and her foot was badly bruised. They hung up one of her arms and beat her, and attacked her while pulling her hair. After three months of brutal torture, they released her because of recurring health problems. On June 22, 2005 she was arrested again and remains imprisoned today.

Lingyuan Lingbei Falun Gong Practitioner Feng Guifen Illegally Sentenced to Three Years of Forced Labor by Ningcheng County of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region

Lingyuan Lingbei Falun Gong practitioner Feng Guifen was arrested while she was clarifying the truth at Mangnong town, Ningcheng county in June. She has been illegally imprisoned in the Ningcheng Detention Center. Recently she was sentenced to three years in a forced labor camp, but currently she is still imprisoned in the Ningcheng Detention Center. On September 15, her family went to the Ningcheng Detention Center to request her release.

Personnel at the Hohhot City Women's Forced Labor Camp follow the Jiang group's orders in persecuting Falun Gong practitioners. They use extremely savage methods to torture Falun Gong practitioners.

Corporal Punishment

Falun Gong practitioners held at the labor camp have all been detained in solitary confinement, forced to stand, not allowed to use the restroom or wash themselves, and deprived of sleep. Sometimes they are forced to stand for days at a time, and the guards try to force them to write a guarantee statement renouncing Falun Gong. The practitioners are forced to stand for such long periods of time that their legs and feet swell severely, and they can no longer wear shoes.

Torture

If the practitioners remain determined in their faith, the guards order the inmates to torture the practitioners around the clock. They handcuff the practitioners with their hands behind their backs and pull their bodies up so their feet do not touch the ground. They called the torture "riding an airplane." Practitioner Hu Shuhua was tortured this way. Sometimes they didn't allow the practitioners to eat for four days and claimed they were "testing" the practitioners. Sometimes they shocked the practitioners with electric batons and whipped them with a triangular leather belt soaked in cold water until not a single piece of undamaged flesh could be found on the practitioner's body.

During the day they force the practitioners to do slave labor, and at night they torture the determined practitioners. They handcuff the practitioners to a door and don't permit them to rest. They even forced a practitioner in his 50s to kneel on a mop handle for more than ten hours at a time until the handle cut into his flesh. In the summer, they take the practitioners outside to expose them to the biting mosquitoes. In the winter they take the practitioners outside to expose them to freezing temperatures. The guards torture the practitioners on a daily basis.

In fact, the above is only the tip of the iceberg of the tortures the practitioners are subjected to at the Hohhot City Women's Forced Labor Camp.

Mr. Qiao Zhiqiang, 66 years old, was a Falun Gong practitioner in Nankou Town, Changping District, Beijing. He benefited both physically and mentally after starting to practice in 1996. After July 20, 1999, because he persisted in practicing, the 610 Office, police, and residential committee in Nankou Town harassed his home many times and kept him under surveillance. On May 3, 2001, the police broke into his house, took him to Changping Detention Center and subjected him to abuse. Then, he was sent to a brainwashing class in Xifeng Mountain, where he was subjected to both physical and mental abuse. After being released from the brainwashing class, he was often harassed and threatened by the authorities. He was also sent newspapers that had articles slandering Falun Gong. Due to the long-term persecution, he suffered from diabetes and stomach cancer and passed away on May 14, 2005.

Ms. Zhou Guangxian, 62, was a Falun Gong practitioner from Baoqing County, Heilongjiang Province. She suffered from several diseases before practicing Falun Gong, in particular a serious heart condition. After practicing Falun Gong, she fully recovered from her illnesses and could even perform some labor. After the persecution of Falun Gong began, the Communist Party applied great mental pressure on her, especially in 2001. Her son and daughter-in-law were illegally put into labor camp because they practiced Falun Gong. Zhou suffered greatly, which led to heart disease, and she passed away in April 2001. She left behind a handicapped daughter.

Mr. Qu Jingshan, 72, was from Mingcheng Town, Panshi City, Jilin Province, and his whole family practiced Falun Gong. Before 1996 he had chronic lung disease and asthma for 40 years. He took medicine and shots for many years. After he started practicing, his health became much better and he never needed medicine or shots. In the spring of 2001, his wife and daughter were arrested because they tried to clarify the truth about Falun Gong, and his home was searched. His wife was detained for 60 days, and his daughter was sent to a labor camp for one year. Placed under great emotional strain and stress because of everything happening to his family, he died on September 13, 2001.

Mr. Zeng Song, 29, was a Falun Gong practitioner in a textile factory in Langzhong City, Sichuan Province. In October 1999, he was taken to a detention center by the security police, and was forced to write a guarantee not to practice Falun Gong any longer. In December 2002, he was detained once again and persecuted. Security officials harassed him at his home many times and forced him to quit his job. Placed under great mental strain, he died in May 2005.

Ms. Liang Yushu, 65, was a retired teacher in the No. 30 Middle School in Dalian City, Liaoning Province. She used to have asthma, but after starting to practice Falun Gong at the end of 1998, she got better and also became more even-tempered. After July 20, 1999, her family believed the Jiang regime's deceitful propaganda and did not allow Liang to continue practicing Falun Gong. Afterwards, Liang's illnesses came back and although she was sent to a hospital three times, she passed away in August 2001.

Mr. Jiang Hulin is the former Falun Gong contact person for Benxi city. Mr. Jiang Hulin has been illegally sentenced to three years of forced labor. He is now being jailed at the Benxi City LaborCamp and is being tortured there. Recently, the Labor Camp stopped letting his family come to visit him.

2. [Jilin Province] Mr. Shen Baogui Persecuted by the Siping Agricultural Engineering School

On September 1, 2005, Mr. Shen Baogui from the Siping Agricultural Engineering School reported for work after completing his post-graduate studies. However, School President Guo Guangxiao and the Vice President Liu Junchao rejected him. He was asked to go home and wait there. This came about because Mr. Shen Baogui tried to persuade others to quit the Chinese Communist Party. Mr. Shen Baogui's salary was cut in half because of this.

On September 9, 2005, Mr. Li Fumin from Dazhu County, Sichuan Province was arrested while he was giving out truth-clarifying materials. He is currently being jailed at the Detention Center of Dazhu County Public Security Bureau. Mr. Li Fumin is over 50 years old and is a retired disabled solider. He resides at the Melon Seeds Factory of Dazhu County.

On September 16, two excellent teachers from Zhangjiaxiang, Shizi District, Dazhu County named Mr. Zhu Guowu and Mr. Zhang Shigui were also arrested by the Dazhu County National Security Bureau and the 610 Office. Currently they are being detained at the Detention Center of the Dazhu County Public Security Bureau.

Mr. Zhu Guowu, over 40 years old, is a primary school teacher of Zhangjiaxiang of Dazhu County. After he told his students to keep in mind "Falun Dafa is good," he was reported by the students' parents and arrested.

At around 3:30 pm on September 14, 2005 when she was working at the flea market, she was arrested by a group of police led by Du Zhanyi from the Shuangyashan 610 Office. She is currently being detained at the Detention Center of Mineral Bureau.

8. [Sichuan Province] More Information on Mr. Huang Kuanping Being Arrested

Mr. Huang Kuanping, over 30 years old, is a university graduate. He was arrested in 2000 for practicing Falun Gong and as a result he was sentenced to five years in prison. He was released in 2005. He was again arrested when he was giving out truth-clarifying materials at Nanwai Town of Da County. He was recently sentenced to six years. Mr. Huang Kuanping has been on hunger strike for over two months to protest against the illegal arrest and sentencing. He is currently emaciated as a result.

9. [Liaoning Province] Ms. Zheng Juxiang Tortured into Mental Disorder

Ms. Zheng Juxiang, around 40 years old, is a resident of Dalian City. She was arrested in March 2003 and sent to the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp. She has since been tortured severely by the police and former practitioners that have turned against Falun Gong. She has been deprived of sleep for as long as two weeks at a time, forced to squat down or to stand for long periods of time, and forced to have her legs double-folded and tied together with rope for long periods of time. As a result, Zheng Juxiang's legs were covered with bloody blisters. There were also bloodstains all over her legs. As a result of this long-term torture, Ms. Zheng Juxiang suffered from a mental disorder in the summer of 2004. As a result, she has been unable to take care of her daily needs.

12. [Tianjin City] Several Practitioners Arrested and Detained

Practitioners from Tianjin who have been arrested include Ms. Zhang Fenglian (46 years old), Ms. Zhang Yingxia (50 years old), Mr. Zhang Zhongmin, Ms. Li Shixian (56 years ld, from Baodi County), Ms. Guo Defen (63 years old), and Wang Binghui (56 years old). For some of them, their homes were searched. Others were sentenced to forced labor camps.

Ms. Huang Xiaoying went to Zhangbu Village of Pingtan County, Guizhou Province in August 2005 to clarify the truth about Falun Gong. She was reported to the police, arrested, and sent to Pingtang Detention Center at Guizhou Province. Later she was sent to the Guizhou Province Female Labor Camp after being sentenced to two years there.

14. [Chongqing City] Three Practitioners from Jiulongpo District, Including Ms. Wei Hua and Zhang Jidong, Arrested

In early September 2005, Ms. Wei Hua who resides at Wenhua Village of Jiulongpo District and one other practitioner were arrested for clarifying the truth about Falun Gong.

In the evening on September 15, Mr. Zhang Jidong, an employee of the Southwestern Vehicles Factory, was forcefully taken away from his home by several unidentified persons.

Ms. Li Jing from Jianshe Street, Wanghua District, Fushun City, 52 years old, was arrested from her home by police from the Wanghua Public Security Bureau on September 4, 2005. Her home was illegally searched.

2. Persecution Against Falun Gong Practitioner Wang Yuanpin of Panzhihua City in Sichuan Province

Mr. Wang Yuanping, a practitioner of Panzhihua City, Sichuan Province, has been illegally detained and forcibly brainwashed many times by local officials since the persecution began on July 20, 1999. The persecution against Mr. Wang has caused tremendous harm and loss to his family. On December 27, 2000, Mr. Wang, who had previously been sentenced for three years and six months, was again arrested and taken to the Deyan Prison, where he faced more severe persecution. For example, he was often forced to stand for a long time, brutally beaten, and monitored on a 24-hour basis. 3. Party Officials at Hebei Normal University Persecute Falun Gong Practitioners

Several Party officials at Hebei Normal University have been cooperating with the security department during the past few years to illegally arrest, monitor, brainwash, detain practitioners, send them to labor camps, and commit many other crimes to persecute practitioners. For example, chemistry teacher Fu Huajing (gender unknown) was illegally detained at the school boarding house for more than two weeks in 1999. They forced Fu to give up the practice. Wang Jin, a librarian, was illegally abducted and sent to a labor camp for three years. In October 2002, professors Zhao Xiaolian and Chai Yanping (both female) compiled and published a book that slandered Falun Gong. It was spread as teaching material to poison students and teachers. In April 2005, teacher Ms. Zhang Lishan was arrested and immediately fired by the school because she spread the truth of Falun Gong. She is currently detained and being persecuted at the Shijiazhuang Second Detention Center.
