(Clearwisdom.net) On April 6, 2005, a Shanghai delegation headed by Mayor Han Zheng arrived in Montreal, Canada. Falun Gong Practitioners held a peaceful appeal in front of City Hall and called on people from all circles to help stop the persecution of Falun Gong in China.

Several days ago, practitioners wrote to the Montreal City Government to call attention to the persecution of Falun Gong in China and to ask for their help in stopping the persecution. From 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on April 6, 2005, practitioners practiced the exercises and distributed truth-clarification literature in front of City Hall, in the cold weather. They held banners with the messages, "Please help stop the persecution of Falun Gong," and "Help release all jailed Falun Gong practitioners." Many of those attending a dinner reception for the Chinese delegation accepted the truth-clarification materials.

City government staff at the dinner watched the Falun Gong practitioners continuously. A practitioner came forward to talk to them. One gentleman said, "I have seen many of your Falun Gong activities and know you are peaceful. You have done a great job. It's your right to be here."

One woman watched the practitioners practicing the exercises and was very interested. She asked a practitioner, "Is this a religion? A philosophy? Can I practice?" She was happy after the practitioner told her that anyone could practice and gave her the contact information for a local practice site. Then she asked about the cost of learning Falun Gong. Upon hearing that the teaching is free, she was surprised.

A middle-aged Western gentleman passed by the city hall and stopped to watch practitioners practicing the exercises. He said that he knew about Falun Gong because he had worked in China. He said that foreign businessmen and corporations in China had to sign a guarantee that none of their employees practice Falun Gong, or otherwise their business activity would be terminated. He also said, "To exist in China, one must do what the Communist Party wants him to do. Chinese employees do not have their own minds. They do what the supervisors ask them to do. When a foreign supervisor tells them to work based on their own thinking, they are surprised and fearful, as they are used to listening to orders from supervisors." Finally, the gentleman said, "I know Falun Gong is good. Please trust my words: the persecution will not last long."

Near the end of the dinner, a gentleman working for the University of Montreal came to pick up his friend. He asked a practitioner, "I have seen Falun Gong practitioners in many places. They are very peaceful and the practice is graceful. Why it is persecuted in China?" The practitioner told him, "The Chinese Communist regime is totalitarian and controls everything. People have no freedom there. Falun Gong practitioners follow Truth, Compassion and Forbearance; however, the Chinese Communist Party prefers violence and lies." The practitioner also gave some examples. The gentleman said, "The Party is too corrupt."

The practitioners did not leave until the Chinese delegation left. Over the past five years of the persecution, practitioners around the world have worked tirelessly to help more people know the truth.

Ever since I obtained the Fa, Truthfulness-Compassion- Forbearance have guided me in teaching the students of each of my classes. From the changes they went through, I saw that this precious gift has already brought Spring to the children's lives. And because of this, I work hard for the Minghui school to provide the children with classes during their winter vacations.

After I finished taking all the children home on the last day of the 10-day class I felt rather depressed. Being able to provide a cultivation environment for the parents and children allows us to upgrade together, and for me to let go of more attachments.

Later, after the Fa study, practitioners began to exchange their experiences in teaching at Minghui schools, which resulted in all of us going home and writing it down in detail. Below is everyone's experience and understanding:

A Little Effort, With Big Results

I was under constant pressure because of my work, and the lack of time also resulted in my being impatient. I looked only at success and not at the process, and this is a problem present in every family. After seeing the changes in Zhujun after he obtained Dafa, I began to feel the miracle of Zhuan Falun and Hongyin - they contain all the answers to my questions! I discover that "spanking kids" is all because of attachments to fame.

This was Zhujun's first experience sharing with me: "Mother, do you know when I began to laugh from deep inside? It is after I read Hongyin." I could not believe that these words had come from his mouth! Good and bad words promote different results in a child's growth. Everyone knows this, yet many are unable to do it! Dafa changed everyone's mentality, and my child has found happiness and health in his life, and he has also found Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance.

At first I came only to offer help, though I now realize that I'm the one who has received the most benefit. I've gotten rid of a lot of attachments and selfishness, and learned to work towards Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance!

I deeply appreciate the participation of each child and parent for allowing me this privilege to help everyone. I hope that we will all return in the future for further activities. Zhujun's greatest change is that he became motivated and clear and helped others voluntarily. And my biggest change is being able to truly recognize the good and bad in my child's actions.

My Experience

In the past my mother often spanked me, but after I began practicing Dafa, she no longer spanks me anymore. The first person in my family to obtain the "Fa" was my grandma. My mother later began to practice it when grandma gave mother a copy of Zhuan Falun, and afterwards she passed it to Dad. Thank you Teacher for saving sentient beings! And thank you Grandma for teaching me!

"The lofty conduct that Dafa disciples have established in this environment--including every word and every deed--can make people recognize their own weaknesses and identify their shortcomings; it can move their hearts, refine their conduct, and enable them to make progress more rapidly. Therefore, new students or self-taught disciples have to go to the practice sites to do the exercises." (Environment) from Essentials for Further Advancement.

My children have continuously practiced the exercises and studied the Fa for 10 days. The five sets of exercises gave them health and energy, and a rosy complexion appeared on their faces. Learning Dafa made them responsible and understanding, and they often remind themselves to be Truthful, Compassionate, and Tolerant. We spent much time talking about Dafa related issues and about becoming more cooperative and peaceful. Although they still had questions about Dafa, I believe that these 10 days has made them even more steadfast towards Dafa, and rereading Zhuan Falun will be able to answer their questions. Today, the eldest of my children voluntarily asked to participate in the study group to do the exercises and study the Fa. At first he was afraid that it would be a strain on his schoolwork, though he later told me that, "Although this is but a small step in cultivating Dafa, it is a great step in my life."

I thank Teacher and Yu Fang's help and effort and giving up her vacation to create an environment for young Dafa practitioners.

My Cultivation Experience

Dafa first influenced me when my younger brother recovered from his illness, and mother continuously told me how miraculous it was, and this made me curious. So this led me to read through Zhuan Falun. I immediately became interested by phrases such as, "In the museum of the National University of Peru, there is a rock..." "The Gabon Republic in Africa has uranium ore..." and footprint found on trilobite fossil (verified) (Zhuan Falun). So from then on I began to cultivate without stopping.

When I was in elementary school, I was not very diligent and so slowly, cultivation turned into just a part of my life. It was because of the help of my fellow practitioners that I gained a better understanding of Dafa. When I felt a Falun spinning while I was attending a Minghui class, I was very excited, though immediately I realized that it is an attachment of zealotry, and I had to control myself. But then my attachment of fear came out, for I did not wish to loose my Falun. Cultivation is rather difficult sometimes because I have so many attachments that I need to let go.

I wish that everyone in the world could practice Falun Dafa, then there would no longer be any arguments, and there will be no fear of being harmed by one another. Everyone would come together to make this a better world.

Falun Dafa is Good

I enjoy practicing Falun Gong very much. Last August I became very ill, and it was by luck that my aunt brought me a copy of Zhuan Falun, after which I began to recover. From then on, I started to practice Falun Gong! At first, the second exercise made my arms tired, while the fifth made my leg hurt, though now everything is fine. Last month was the first time I went out to spread the Fa. I stood as a part of the Great Wall of Courage. I thought it was great, and wished that it would last for a couple of days. "Falun Dafa is Great!"

(Clearwisdom.net) On April the 2nd and 3rd, Falun Gong practitioners participated in a health fair called "Harmony Expo" in Liljeholmen, Stockholm. They demonstrated the five sets of exercises on a stage several times during the two days and handed out hundreds of leaflets and newspapers about Falun Gong and the persecution that has been taking place in China for the last six years.

Many people showed their sympathy for China's persecuted Falun Gong practitioners and signed a petition calling for an end to the persecution. One woman who signed took a petition list home to collect signatures amongst her friends.

Members of the public said they really liked seeing the beautiful and peaceful exercises when they were demonstrated on the stage. A young man sat watching practitioners demonstrate the exercises and at the same time he drew some sketches. There were several chances for those who were interested in the exercises to learn on the spot and many took the opportunity to have a go. A lot of people expressed their intent to go to their local practice site and to learn the exercises at a later date.

Many people already had a good understanding of the persecution happening to Falun Gong practitioners in China. They knew that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) does not tolerate spiritual thinking or dissidents and that is why they not only persecute Falun Gong practitioners, but also Christians, Buddhists, Tibetans, monks, nuns and others. Some people asked why Falun Gong is persecuted. Practitioners answered that former Chinese leader Jiang Zemin couldn't tolerate the fact that as many as 70-100 million people practised Falun Gong whilst there were only 60 million CCP members. He banned the practice in July 1999.

(Clearwisdom.net) Mankind may have differentiated itself in many different ways from other sentient beings, but the characteristic that differentiates mankind from other creatures on earth more than anything else is that mankind holds spiritual beliefs. Perhaps this ability to accept and live by the principles of a spiritual belief forms the very foundation by which we define being human. The term "spiritual belief" is ancient. In both eastern and western civilizations, many touching stories related to spiritual beliefs have been told and retold since ancient times. In today's China, a farmer named Zhao Dehua has manifested the meaning of spiritual belief with his own life.

I. Zhao Dehua Finds His Spiritual Belief

Mr. Zhao Dehua was born in 1965 into a peasant family in Xinfa Village, Xinxing Township, Shuangcheng City, Heilongjiang Province, China. Zhao's parents were honest farmers who had lived in poverty for a long time. As the eldest of four children, Zhao began to work at the young age of seven. Like most children in China's rural areas, Zhao became a farmer after he finished his middle school education. Growing up in poverty forced him to face the harsh reality at a tender age and matured him quickly. Zhao was known as a quick-tempered and stubborn man who relied solely on his physical strength for his living.

In 1987, Zhao married Ms. Liu Fengjie from a neighboring village. Ms. Liu was one year older than Zhao. She was a very pretty woman, but she, too, had a short temper. During the more challenging times, there was rarely a moment of peace because everyone was stressed and quick to start an argument. Moreover, Liu and her mother-in-law never saw eye to eye.

January 17, 1999 held great significance for Zhao Dehua. That day, his old lifestyle came to an abrupt halt. At that time, a free-of-charge cultivation practice was becoming increasingly popular throughout China. It was Falun Gong. When Liu witnessed the great changes in people, such as improvement in temperament, and quitting smoking and drinking after they began to practice Falun Gong, she encouraged Zhao to learn. "You smoke a pack of cigarettes a day," she said. "You keep saying you are going to quit, but you have never been able to quit. Why don't you learn Falun Gong and see what it can do for you?" On January 17, 1999, Zhao started on his Falun Gong cultivation path. Once he understood how precious Falun Gong was, he decided that he had found his spiritual belief. From then on, his old lifestyle disappeared.

Falun Gong is not just physical exercise. Besides practicing Falun Gong's five sets of exercise, Falun Gong practitioners also cultivate their moral character by following its principles --- Truth, Compassion and Forbearance. It is an ancient Chinese cultivation practice that was first introduced to the public in China after the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) had banned China's 5,000 years of tradition in Buddhist and Taoist cultivation practices for four decades. Falun Gong founder Mr. Li Hongzhi's nine-day Fa lectures on videotapes made a strong impact on Mr. Zhao. He felt as if he saw the light at the end of the tunnel. "What a wonderful Fa lecture! This is not an ordinary qigong. I am definitely going to learn Falun Gong!" The first change people noticed was that Mr. Zhao quit smoking. It took him only three days, after being addicted to smoking for many years. On top of it, he enjoyed reading Falun Gong's books, mellowed out and became polite. "Falun Gong teaches people to follow 'Truth, Compassion and Forbearance,'" he said. "I now know how to be a better person." He knew he had found his spiritual belief. The day he started practicing Falun Gong became the day of his rebirth. Soon after Mr. Zhao started practicing Falun Gong, his mother and his wife also started practicing. His family became peaceful and affectionate towards each other. They no longer fought each other at all times.

II. Mr. Zhao Unfurls a Banner Made from a Curtain at Tiananmen Square

On July 20, 1999, the CCP banned Falun Gong. The Chinese police and even the Chinese military in steel helmets and armed with machine guns began to roam the streets of China and arrested people who continued to practice Falun Gong. Mr. Zhao once walked close to 50 miles to the Heilongjiang Provincial government just to ask about the CCP's policy about Falun Gong. The police took him back to Shuangcheng City after brutally beating and kicking him. Next, the police ransacked his home and confiscated all Falun Gong books. Mr. Zhao, who rarely cried, even during the many years of suffering due to poverty, cried two days and two nights because of the injustice done to Falun Gong. He just couldn't understand it. "Why must the CCP ban Falun Gong? Why? Falun Gong has not taught its practitioners to do bad things. Why does the CCP arrest and beat up practitioners without any provocation? Why? Why?" Because police in rural areas are crueler and more violent, Mr. Zhao thought about going to Beijing and appealing to higher officials in Beijing. At the time, he thought that higher officials of the CCP might listen to reason. He kept thinking about going to Beijing and, each day he remained at home made him feel guilty, terribly distressed and sad.

In 1999, Mr. Zhao couldn't go to Beijing because he could not afford it. In 2000, Mrs. Zhao said to Mr. Zhao, "After we sell the corn harvest in the fall, we will have money to go to Beijing together." Mr. Zhao, after having seeded the corn-fields in the spring of 2000, was anxiously watching for the corn to grow. Finally, ears of corns ripened and were ready for harvest. Mr. Zhao harvested the corn, got the corn ready for sale and found buyers. Mr. Zhao could not wait any longer, although it was only a few days before he would have received payment for his corn. He borrowed 400 yuan from a kindhearted family and left for Beijing. Seven other Falun Gong practitioners from the same village accompanied him. Mr. Zhao's mother also went along. Wang Ying, an elderly farmer who grew up and lived her entire life in a farming village was one of those traveling to Beijing. She was illiterate and could not even write her own name. She had not traveled to Shuangcheng City, a city that is only 30 kilometers from the village. She could not even imagine if she could speak to the village mayor, but now she had the courage to travel more than 1,300 kilometers to Beijing and speak for Falun Gong. It was also the first time for Mrs. Zhao, her two daughters and three other farmers from the same village to make such a long journey away from home.

Beijing holds special importance to the Chinese people. For over 800 years, Beijing was the imperial city of China's Jin, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties. It is amazing that these farmers, who belong to the lower echelon of Chinese society, had the courage to travel to the "imperial city." Except for the power of their belief in Falun Gong, what could possibly give these humble farmers the strength and courage to enter the "imperial city?"

To hold expenses as low as possible, they decided to take the slow train to Beijing. To save more money, they bought tickets for cars with wooden seats. They did not purchase any food for the two days and one night on the train. They had brought with them a box of cookies, but everyone insisted on letting others have the cookies. Everyone's mind was heavy with worry. During the trip, Mrs. Zhao kept looking at her husband as if she feared that she might not see him again. She had heard that police had unlawfully arrested many Falun Gong practitioners. Mr. Zhao had told her before they took off, "I might be killed in Beijing. You must prepare yourself for the worst!" After they got off the train, they each bought a bowl of noodles, but Mrs. Zhao did not touch the noodles.

At 9:00 PM of December 31, 2000, three hours after they had arrived in Beijing, they reached Tiananmen Square. They felt as if the righteous gods were watching them from heaven. Mr. Zhao produced a red banner and held it with Mrs. Zhao. He had taken the curtain from his window at home to make this banner. He painted seven Chinese characters with gold paint: "Falun Dafa is the righteous Way." Mr. Zhao had thought to scream out these words for many months. Together Mr. and Mrs. Zhao shouted out loud, "Falun Dafa is good! Falun Dafa is good!" Almost immediately a police van appeared. A group of cruel policemen jumped these kind, innocent farmers and threw them into the police van, pushing, beating and kicking them.

The police shouted at them as they pushed these farmers into the basement of an empty house. In a small basement of 70 square meters, the police detained 80 to 90 people from different parts of China. One heard accents of the northern and southern provinces. Mr. Zhao asked people why they were here and found that everyone was a Falun Gong practitioner. Mr. Zhao found a coordinator among the illegally detained Falun Gong practitioners. He gave him a letter he had written, an appeal for Falun Gong. He asked him to hand this letter to the Chinese authorities. On the following day, the police took Mr. Zhao to another place in a car. It was far away from the basement. "I don't know where they took me," Mr. Zhao recalled. "It took us over three hours to get there by car." The place was also full of Falun Gong practitioners. The police asked everyone for his/her name and fingerprint. Mr. Zhao refused. He protested, "I did not violate any law. You should not have arrested me. I want to go home." He refused to give the police his name or his fingerprint. Next, five policemen jumped on him and knocked him to the ground. They kicked Mr. Zhao hard on the face, head, waist, stomach, and legs. The police kicked him back and forth and rolled him in the dust. They also tore apart Mr. Zhao's new hat. After savagely beating and kicking him for 30 minutes, Mr. Zhao still refused to give his fingerprint. Therefore, several policemen pressed down Mr. Zhao's head and body while some other policemen pried open his right hand and took his fingerprint by force.

Next, the police hauled Mr. Zhao to a police van that was already filled with Falun Gong practitioners. They were taken to a prison. The police continued to ask for Mr. Zhao's name, but he still refused. The police then handcuffed his hands to a steel fence in the middle of a room, and repeatedly hit his hands with a three-meter wide wooden club. A short policeman with a Beijing accent lit up a cigarette and pressed it down on Mr. Zhao's wrists. Four years later, Mr. Zhao's wrist still shows the marks of the severe cigarette burns that resemble tattooed bracelets. A tall burly policeman went berserk because Mr. Zhao would not succumb to their torture and give his name. He poured a cup of boiling water into Mr. Zhao's pants. Next, with the help from his colleagues, he stripped Mr. Zhao naked and chained him outside. The police left Mr. Zhao naked outdoors in the winter day in northern China in the sub-zero temperature of -4^oF for over ten hours. Even in the middle of July, Mr. Zhao could not help trembling when he recalled the bone-chilling feeling. It was Beijing and Beijing's police that have given a farmer from even higher latitude the coldest feeling he had experienced in his life. After he was brought indoors after ten hours of torture in the sub-zero temperature, Mr. Zhao still refused to give his name. A policeman threatened, "If he still does not give his name, rinse his body with cold water and shock his wet skin with stun guns!" A female Falun Gong practitioner with a southern accent could no longer bear to watch Mr. Zhao being subjected to additional torture. She stepped out and said to the police, "If you agree to stop torturing him, I will give you my name." After she gave the police her name, the police sneered and started beating Mr. Zhao.

It is often difficult for people with a kind nature to imagine the cruelty and deceit of such depraved men.

III. Despite the Cruel Tortures in the Forced Brainwashing Facility, Zhao Dehua Said, "I Will Continue to Practice Falun Gong!"

Mr. Zhao Dehua also fell prey to the police's deceit.

A slick policeman pleaded with Mr. Zhao, "If you will not give us your name, we will have problems with our boss." Mr. Zhao refused to give in to the police's terror and torture, but because he follows Falun Gong's principles of Truth, Compassion and Forbearance, he turned soft when he heard the policeman's plea. Thus he gave the police his name and address. Two days later, police from Shuangcheng City's 610 Office and Shuangcheng City's police station came to take him back to Shuangcheng City and then locked him up in Shuangcheng City's Second Detention Center. Mr. Zhao Dehua and his family ended up spending their 2001 Chinese New Year separately in the male and female sections in Shuangcheng City's Detention Center.

It was not until two and a half months later that Mr. Zhao saw his mother, wife and other adult fellow practitioners, who had traveled with him, at a forced brainwashing facility in Xinxing Township. This forced brainwashing center was a new facility established since July 20, 1999 for the purposes of forcing Falun Gong practitioners to renounce Falun Gong and of making profits by extorting money from Falun Gong practitioners. The 610 Office throughout China is responsible for building and supervising forced brainwashing centers. The 610 Office has built forced brainwashing centers throughout China. After a long separation, Mr. and Mrs. Zhao had a brief conversation. Mrs. Zhao asked, "Do you think you can persevere?" Mr. Zhao answered, "Don't worry."

Demonic tribulations immediately followed. The 610 Office staff tried to force them to read newspapers and watch videos that viciously slandered Falun Gong. Mr. Zhao told them, "We refuse to read or watch this stuff. They contain nothing but lies." Mr. Zhang Yunlong and Mr. Bai Chunwu from the 610 Office, as well as Mr. Wang Chuizhou, Mayor of Xinxing Township, immediately grabbed Mr. Zhao. They pressed his hands on top of a convector and hit the back of his hands with a leather belt several hundred times.

There is a Chinese saying, "One's ten fingers are connected to one's heart." It means a person's fingers are most sensitive to pain. At the end of the thrashing, Mr. Zhao's hands turned purple and became so swollen that they resembled a giant bun. Nevertheless, Mr. Zhao still refused to read or watch materials slandering Falun Gong. They cut open chilly peppers and rubbed the inside hard against Mr. Zhao's eyes. The intensive burning from the chilly seeds and juices caused him severe pain and a flood of tears. A policeman named Bai Yuqiao was not satisfied after he repeatedly beat Mr. Zhao with a club, so he lit a candle, tore up Mr. Zhao's shirt, and burned him with the candle. While hearing the sizzling noise from the burning, Bai Yuqiao continued to burn his flesh. That was not enough to satisfy Bai's sadistic pleasure. Bai scratched off the burned skin with his nails and then rubbed the minced chilly peppers against the raw parts.

During the night, the 610 Office staff tortured one Falun Gong practitioner after another. While beating each Falun Gong practitioner, they repeatedly shouted, "Do you still want to practice Falun Gong?" Those who answered yes would be subjected to more severe beating. They purposely kept Mr. Zhao as the last Falun Gong practitioner in their torture marathon. Mr. Zhao clenched his teeth and tried not to collapse in despair when he heard fellow practitioners shrieking in agony and when he heard some of them giving in to the torture and bursting into tears in shame. After they had finished up with everyone else, the Head of the 610 Office, Zhang Yunlong, brought Bai Chunwu, Bai Yuqiao, Yu Zhenbo, Guo Weidong and Wang Chuizhou to the room where they detained Mr. Zhao. They stripped him naked again and threw him onto the cold concrete floor with his wrists in handcuffs. Zhang Yunlong pointed a finger at Mr. Zhao and said, "In your condition, you will not last even five minutes! Go!" The six men each took different weapons. Some started flogging Mr. Zhao with a wide leather belt, and some started beating him with a hard plastic tube filled with sand. Together they must have flogged and beat him 300 times in one minute. With each minute that went by, they added 300 purple and bloody marks on Mr. Zhao's body. During the orgy of sadistic torture, these animals kept shouting, "Do you still want to practice Falun Gong?" "I do!" "Do you still want to practice Falun Gong?" "I do!!" After twenty minutes, Mr. Zhao's body was literally covered with severe wounds. The six persecutors were drenched with sweat and had to stop to catch their breath and smoke cigarettes. Then one of them said, "Pour cool water over him." After one of them poured a large bucket of water over him, they started a second round of torture. Zhang Yunlong said, "No need to ask a stubborn man like him any more. Just keep beating and flogging him!" After torturing him for a while, they asked again, "Do you still want to practice Falun Gong?" "I do!" The new round of torture added new injuries to Mr. Zhao's severely injured body. After noticing Mr. Zhao was on the brink of death, Zhang Yunlong finally said, "Looks like he is not breathing. Get him up and wake him."

Several days later they came up with a malicious kind of mental torture. These policemen tried to make Mr. Zhao step on Teacher's portrait. They handcuffed his hands to the top of a bunk bed with his feet barely touching the ground. Next, they tried to insert Falun Gong's books between the bottom of his feet and the floor. As long as Mr. Zhao's feet touched the floor, he would have no choice but to step on these books. Mr. Zhao saw through their scheme, so he tried with all his might to plant his feet on the floor so that the police could not insert any book under his feet. When they saw that their dirty scheme failed, Zhang Yunlong came up with a new physical torture. He had the policemen tie up Mr. Zhao's wrists with thin nylon strings. He told Mr. Zhao, "Normally it will take only 30 minutes before you lose the feeling in your hands." They did not untie him until 40 minutes later, but Mr. Zhao could still use his hands. Their vicious torture failed again. They kept coming up with new tortures, but they were never able to make Mr. Zhao renounce Falun Gong in writing or verbally. Anytime they asked him, "Do you still want to practice Falun Gong?" they got the same answer: "I do!"

IV. In the Detention Center

After Mr. Zhao survived the repeated tortures at the forced brainwashing center, he was transferred to Shuangcheng City Second Detention Center. Mr. Zhao was unlawfully imprisoned in this detention center twice for a total of eight months. The first time he was imprisoned was from January 5, 2001 to mid-May of 2001, and the second time, was from March 1, 2002 to July 10, 2002. During the unlawful imprisonment, he witnessed the dark reality of the Chinese legal system. The staff members and the prison inmates subjected him to torture and persecution at will. They would torture Mr. Zhao because he refused to curse Falun Gong, refused to smoke, and practiced Falun Gong's exercises. They were in a foul mood, and willing to torture him for pleasure. In fact, they did not need any reason or excuse to subject him to their violence and torture. Sometimes they even abused Mr. Zhao's kindness to make him give in to their demand. For example, they would threaten to beat up some other inmates if he should refuse to comply with their demands.

In Shuangcheng City's Second Detention Center, many practitioners died. Mr. Zhou Zhichang (former Head of Armed Force in Hanjiadian Town) died from forced-feeding with saturated salt water, as it resulted in dehydration. Mr. Wu Baowang from Qingling Township, Mr. Zhao's cellmate, died from the forced-feeding of feces. Disciplinary staff members, including Li Huaixin, Huang Yanchun, a person surnamed Du, as well as prison inmates including Mr. Zhao Dequan and a man surnamed Guan, participated in the persecution against Mr. Zhao. Because Mr. Zhao refused to curse Teacher, Zhao Dequan hit Mr. Zhao on the back of his right ear, which resulted in a hard bump, the size of a bun, which later festered and bled. Recalling the dreadful eight months in illegal detention, Mr. Zhao quoted a Chinese saying, "Each day felt as long as a year." Despite the inhuman and brutal environment, Mr. Zhao persisted in practicing Falun Gong's exercises and reciting Teacher's articles. During the illegal detention, a prison inmate started practicing Falun Gong.

On March 1, 2002, Mr. Zhao went to the bungalow community to clarify the truth about Falun Gong. Within less than 30 minutes after he returned home, four policemen from the local police station came to arrest him. They had received a tip from the Mayor of Xinfa Village, Mr. Han Xinghou, that he had tried to clarify the truth about Falun Gong to other people. They pushed and beat Mr. Zhao, but he refused to get in the police car. His family also helped him to resist this illegal arrest. In the end the police knocked him down to the ground and kept hitting him with bricks before they handcuffed him and took him away. The head of the police station, Mr. Kong Qingman, searched his body and stole 300 yuan Mr. Zhao carried with him, before he transferred Mr. Zhao to Shuangcheng City Second Detention Center. This was how Mr. Zhao was thrown into the detention center for the second time. Mr. Zhao demanded that Kong return the 300 yuan he had stolen from him, but Kong came up with a lie, "A policeman's hand was scratched. You must compensate him for the injury. I will leave you 50 yuan to pay for your children's tuition." Two months later, the police asked Mr. Zhao to sign a piece of paper that said he had been sentenced to two years in Wanjia Forced Labor Camp. Mr. Zhao refused to sign, so did other Falun Gong practitioners. The police said, "Even if you refuse to sign, we will sent you to Wanjia Forced Labor Camp anyway."

They were required to pass a physical examination first when they were transferred to Wanjia Forced Labor Camp. Because Mr. Zhao contracted scabies during the illegal detention, Wanjia Forced Labor Camp refused to accept him.

After returning to the police station from Wanjia Forced Labor Camp, Mr. Zhao suffered from excruciating pain. The pain was so intense that he could not sit down. On July 10, 2002, Mr. Zhao finally was released.

V. China's Persecution of Falun Gong Destroys Mr. Zhao's Family

Mr. Zhao Dehua used to have 13,350 square yards of rice paddy. In 2001, the Mayor of Xinfa Village confiscated more than half of his farm land and left him only 5,280 square yards of land. The Mayor leased out the confiscated land for 4,000 yuan and used it to pay the fines that the 610 Office demanded because Mr. Zhao went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. After losing more than half of their farm land, Mr. Zhao and his family were in a dire situation.

Mrs. Zhao (also known as Liu Fengjie) died at the age of 38. In the end of 2000, Mr. and Mrs. Zhao took their two young daughters to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong and clarify the truth about Falun Gong. After they were unlawfully arrested in Beijing, Mr. Zhang Yunlong, a Shuangcheng City policeman in charge of the local 610 Office, and Mr. Han Xinghou from Xinfa Village took them back. They sent Mr. and Mrs. Zhao's two daughters to a relative's home, and then unlawfully imprisoned Mrs. Zhao in the Shuangcheng City Second Detention Center. After one month of illegal detention, the local police sent Mrs. Zhao to a forced brainwashing center for 50 days, which was run by the local police. The police from Shuangcheng City's 610 Office tortured Mrs. Zhao during the illegal detention. Mr. Zhang Yunlong and seven others repeatedly beat Mrs. Zhao. They also forced her to step on Teacher's portrait and to curse Teacher, but Mrs. Zhao refused to give in to their demand.

Eventually Mrs. Zhao gave in to their terror and wrote a guarantee against her will not to practice Falun Gong again. But it was not until they collected 4,000 yuan that they released her. Mrs. Zhao may have survived the appalling torture, but afterwards she had trouble studying Falun Gong's books, practicing the exercises or even being her usual self because she had been severely traumatized by the physical and mental torture.

On August 12, 2001, Mrs. Zhao went out to sell vegetables as usual, so they would have the money to pay for her daughters' tuition. On her way to the market, she was hit by a car and died of severe injuries. When she passed away, her daughters, aged ten and three, were devastated. Mr. Zhao Dehua was heartbroken when he watched his children crying for their mother, who could no longer be there for them.

Mr. Zhao's mother, Wang Ying, was 60 years old when she passed away. Prior to her cultivation practice of Falun Gong, she suffered from tracheitis and late-term gastroptosis, which the doctors told her was beyond medical treatment. After she started practicing Falun Gong, her illnesses disappeared and she became perfectly healthy. In the end of 2000, she went to Beijing with her son, daughter-in-law and her two granddaughters to clarify the truth about Falun Gong, but the Beijing police illegally arrested and persecuted the entire family. Two days later, Shuangcheng City police took them back to Shuangcheng City and then unlawfully imprisoned her in Shuangcheng City Second Detention Center where she was persecuted severely. Afterwards, she was transferred to a forced brainwashing center where she was again subjected to torture and was not released until the perpetrators collected a ransom in the amount of 4,000 yuan. During the illegal detention, Wang Ying's health was severely damaged. She died on January 5, 2005.

The CCP's persecution against Falun Gong destroyed Mr. Zhao Dehua's family.

Mr. Zhao turned 40 years old this year. For the Chinese people, the age of 40 is known as the age of confidence or the age without doubt. It means that when a man reaches 40, he probably has obtained a clearer understanding of life. What does Mr. Zhao think of his life at the age of 40 after being deprived of nearly everything and everyone he had and is now marked with terrible physical and mental wounds?

"Do you still practice Falun Gong, Mr. Zhao?"

"Most definitely."

"Do you hate those people who beat you up and the Mayor of Xinfa Village?"

"I don't hate them. I pity them for all the terrible crimes they have committed because they don't know the truth about Falun Gong. It is such a pity."

"Are you happy?"

After being silent for a long time, Mr. Zhao said, "All of China suffers from the massive persecution against Falun Gong. I have lost my mother and my wife and my daughters have lost their mother and their grandmother. My daughters and I lost our two closest family members. Our family can never be complete again. Under the circumstances, it is impossible for me to be happy. However, my family is only one of millions of families torn apart by Jiang Zemin and the CCP's atrocities."

"But I do feel immensely fortunate to have found the truth of the universe --- Truth, Compassion and Forbearance," Mr. Zhao added. "I have found what I have been looking for all my life. I have found my true belief. That makes me very happy."

(Clearwisdom.net) Macao has been under tremendous pressure ever since Jiang's regime initiated the persecution of Falun Gong. The Jiang regime has attempted to eradicate Falun Gong in Macao. To help more people learn the truth about Falun Gong and the facts of the persecution over the past several years, Macao practitioners have continued to clarify the truth to the public in addition to studying Dafa and practicing the exercises. Their steady efforts have changed the environment bit by bit.

From Monday to Saturday, practitioners practice in Zhongshan Park, and on Sunday they practice in a park across from China's Liaison Office. On Saturdays and Sundays, police come to monitor practitioners, check ID's, and take photos when unfamiliar practitioners show up. The police's surveillance has taken place for several years, but the practitioners' steadfastness and peacefulness have helped many police officers to understand the truth.

Macao practitioners clarify the truth

Due to construction in Macao's downtown area, practitioners recently changed tourist sites to clarify the truth. Meanwhile, Macao police had many personnel changes, and the majority of the more than ten plainclothes police in charge of monitoring practitioners from the Information Bureau were transferred. Now, every morning during practice, one or two policemen show up to monitor the practitioners. In the past, when practitioners would clarify the truth and distribute literature on the streets downtown, all the police who saw the practitioners would follow them, including security guards in front of banks and traffic police. The environment was very austere.

But practitioners were not discouraged. Along with the change of the environment, the clarification of the truth has higher requirements in depth and scope. Practitioners said that all people they meet were targets for truth clarification, whether they behaved well or not.

Several policemen who monitored practitioners for several years said to one practitioner, "You distribute literature from January 1 to December 31, rain or shine, even during typhoons, and we have to come out too. When will you stop?" Though they complained, they showed their respect in their tone and expression. The practitioner told him, "Until the innocence and good reputation of Falun Gong and its founder are restored, and we can practice freely. That day will come. Please rest assured!"

A few years ago when practitioners began truth clarification and distribution of informational materials, the police were anxious. Some would snatch practitioners' materials or forcefully take the practitioners to the police station. But after the practitioners' continuous explanations of the facts, the environment changed. Many police officers know the facts of the persecution, show sympathy and support Falun Gong. Some of them have even started to practice. Here are two examples:

1. One day, a police officer said to a practitioner, "Please give me one more VCD." He said that the VCD he received last time was taken by his colleague for duplication. Because many want the exercise instruction VCD, they have to make a reservation to get a copy. "When can it be my turn? It is faster to get one from you. Thank you," said the police officer. He was pleased when the practitioner gave him one.

2. One day, a police officer asked a practitioner to see if his hand gestures were right and asked for correction. Later he saw there was another officer from a different department standing behind him and changed the topic right away. Then the other officer came forward and said while smiling and pointing at him, "If you want to be a Falun Gong practitioner, you need to be righteous and dignified. 'Falun Dafa is good' has been spread in our department." We all laughed.

(Clearwisdom.net) Yesterday, as part of our class activity of promoting "Truth, Compassion and Forbearance" to the children, our teacher gave everyone in the class a bookmark with the inscription, "Have you been kind to others today?" After the class, Andy (a name I gave to a boy in my class) pulled the bookmark out and crinkled it with his fingers. I told him not to do that, but he paid no attention to me and walked out. Not realizing what he was doing when he took the first step out of the classroom, he fell into a pit dug for a tree. Moaning and rubbing his behind as he was crawling out, we noticed that the pit was full of bull ants. Both sides of his buttock were bitten by the ants.

I walked over and told him again, "Treasure the bookmark that your teacher gave you." Still in anger, he walked away, paying no attention to me. Strangely enough, he had hardly taken a few steps when another loud cry came from him. He tripped over a low fence this time. I was surprised. The fence was low and anyone could see it. He could have stepped over it easily. His nose was bleeding from the fall. I thought that it must have been rather painful.

Back in the class, Andy appeared restless; he was moaning and groaning. The teacher asked him, "What's happened, Andy?" He replied, "Nothing." But, as soon as the class was over, he jumped up from his chair. A bull ant fell off of his body. He was so angry and raised his foot to step on it. I quickly stopped him. I didn't want him to make another mistake.

Later on, when I related the two incidents about Andy to the teacher, she too, was surprised at what had happened. Back in the class, the teacher reiterated the importance being kind to people and asked us to treasure the little bookmarks she handed out earlier.

After listening to the teacher, we thought that Andy surely had learned a lesson. Instead, he took a pair of scissors and cut the bookmark in half. All of us were angry at his attitude. But then, he got his immediate punishment - he cut his own finger.

Strange things continued to happen. After lunch, Andy joined us at a ball game. He was standing on my left. When I threw the ball to another boy standing on my right, the ball somehow changed direction and hit Andy in the face, causing his nose to bleed again. Everyone was amazed at what had happened. However, Andy was not angry this time.

During the physical education class, Andy told me that he was sorry for cutting the bookmark. Returning to the classroom, I quickly helped him piece the bookmark back together and told him that even that little bookmark had a life.

When I told the story to my mother afterwards, she encouraged me to write this story down and to share it with the other children. I think the person that has benefited the most from this experience is Andy.

Former Shengcai Police Division Chief from the Shengli Oil Field Suddenly Dies in a Car Accident

Former Shengcai Police Division chief Chen Dong from the Shengli Oil Field lost all sense of humanity in persecuting Falun Gong practitioners since he began following the Jiang regime's persecution of Falun Gong in 1999. He sent many practitioners to detention centers and labor camps. In mid-March 2005, he was hit by a taxi on his way home and killed. His appearance at death was extremely sad.

Weiyuan County Police Department Security Team Leader Died in a Car Accident

Security team leader Zhan Xueshan from the Weiyuan County Police Department had participated in persecuting Falun Gong practitioners since July 1999.

Just before the 2005 Chinese New Year, he and two others were riding in a car on their way to Xinchang. Halfway into their trip their car hit a logging truck. Zhan Xueshan was killed in the collision while the other two persons were unharmed.

The Persecutors of Falun Dafa Practitioners are Greedy and Corrupt

The head of the Cangzhou City Branch of Chinese People's Bank, Du Shuyong, participated in persecuting Falun Gong practitioners, following Jiang's evil regime during his time on duty. He sent practitioners to mental hospitals, brainwashing classes, and forced labor camps. He transferred them from current jobs, made them lose their jobs, and refused payment of their salaries. He only paid them a minimal living expense, and illegal monitored them. All these actions greatly hurt practitioners' physical and spiritual lives. In January 2004, Du Shuyong was arrested for misusing his authority, lying for personal benefit, and ignoring his job responsibilities and rules, and other transgressions.

Examples of Retribution Provoked by Evil in Wuhan City

Yang Ronghua (female), a former police officer from a brainwashing class, now has uterine cancer.

Perpetrator Liu Yaohua, the former security head of a local community in Hankou District, frequently sent practitioners from this area to brainwashing classes. She also personally participated in brainwashing practitioners. During the first half of last year Liu Yaohua was chasing an elderly practitioner who had spread the true facts about Falun Dafa when she broke her hip while getting onto a bike. She has since been paralyzed.

(Clearwisdom.net) I am a 50-year-old farmer. I began my Falun Dafa cultivation in 1999. Dafa gave me a second life, and Teacher saved me from the brink of death.

I felt very sorry hearing that some practitioners died of illnesses, so I decided to write my experiences of struggling with the demons of illness and sending forth righteous thoughts to eradicate the evil of Communism. I hope that this can be a reference for my fellow practitioners to help them in their cultivation. This way we can march forward together on the path that Teacher has arranged for us and diligently carry out the three things.

One day at lunch in mid-April 2004, I suddenly had a stomachache. It got so bad that I was not able to work. An hour later I could not even sit. My spouse reminded me to reflect to see if I had done something wrong. But I thought that even if I had some deficiencies, the old forces had no right to harm me, and I needed to send forth righteous thoughts to eradicate the dark minions. So I sat up and began sending forth righteous thoughts. But my concentration only lasted for 3 to 5 minutes, and my pain did not lessen at all after about two hours. Rather, it got worse.

Thirty minutes later, my stomachache became extremely severe. It felt like all of my internal organs were in pain. I then realized that this was not intended for me to get rid of karma. Rather it was the old forces and dark minions persecuting me. I sent forth righteous thoughts lying on the bed to rid myself of dark minions and rotten demons. I recited Teacher's articles and kept reciting Dafa. After doing this for twenty minutes, suddenly all the pains disappeared. It was as though all the needles inside, as well as outside of me, that were harming me were suddenly gone. But I found that my body was no longer mine. I could not move my eyeballs. I could not feel the pain. Nor did I know any comfort. I was aware that I was lying there, and my mind had never been clearer of the fact that I was a practitioner. I believed that nothing would happen to me. I did not recognize any arrangements by the old forces. The Fa-rectification was still going on. As a practitioner, I knew I was responsible for saving sentient beings and that I would walk the path that Teacher has laid out for me.

I kept reciting the Fa, and in about 20 minutes, my whole body was healthy and comfortable again.

The torture of the illness was very painful. Why did it happen? I learned from studying the Fa afterwards that one reason it happened was that I thought that I had karma that needed to be repaid by suffering, and I was thus enduring it passively. The second reason was that I did not base my actions on the Fa and I ignored the dark minions. The third reason was that I did not work hard enough telling people the facts about Falun Gong. I was afraid, which let the dark minions find loopholes to exploit.

I hope that fellow practitioners can learn from my experiences and strengthen their righteous thoughts and actions.

Strongly Denying the Old Forces Using Illness Karma as a Means of Persecution

I started cultivation practice in 1996. Since the persecution began in 1999, I've been persecuted many times by the police stations of the district, township, and the village. I was detained, fined, my family property was confiscated, I was made homeless, and I suffered excruciating physical and mental torture. On the night of December 28, 2004, I had a case of illness karma where my body bled very much. The situation at the time was very scary, as my blood was flowing like water, and there were quite some blood clots. I felt that I was as good as dead, like the blood was all drained from my body. My cheeks were pale and cold. My spouse, also a practitioner, was scared half to death, and wanted to help me to the hospital.

I was determined not to recognize the arrangements of the old forces. I refused to let the black hands and rotten demons persecute me, I didn't acknowledge them. I had not yet finished my mission of saving sentient beings. I asked that Master would come quickly and save me, and then a miracle happened. I felt a flush of heat in my heart, and the bleeding stopped. It was our great and compassionate Master that saved me. I am very thankful to our Master for saving me in a time of crisis.

The 610 Office Was Afraid to Acknowledge Its Unlawful Policies. I Successfully Attained My Passport

Two years ago, I had applied for a visitor's passport to go and see my relatives, but the process was stopped at the police station. A staff member said that there were policies from above that stated anyone practicing Falun Gong is not allowed to go abroad. Although I was opposed to them depriving me of my rights as a citizen, violating my personal freedoms, and disregarding the Chinese constitution, I was forced to give up. Last year I again requested a passport to visit relatives and travel. The police station told me that anyone who practiced Falun Gong, unless approved by their work place, had to have papers from the 610 Office in order to leave the country. In fact, my workplace had approved my application and had written so on the form, yet my application was still refused. I requested a formal explanation, and was told that the 610 Office had ordered that I not be allowed to leave.

I thought, last time I gave up on the fight for my fundamental rights was because of the arrangements of the old forces. This time, I will win against the evil. If the staff refused my passport application, then I will approach it with logic, ask for explanations and make such rights abuses public, and make the people understand what's really going on.

Determined to deny the old forces' arrangements, I went to the 610 Office with my determined thoughts. When I talked with them about the application, they denied that papers from the 610 Office were needed to exit the country, which was contrary to the words of the police station. I called the police station from the 610 office, and asked them to work it out. After some conversation, the police station hung up the phone. The police station was very angry at the fact that the 610 Office had refused to follow the proper procedure, The 610 Office lied by denying that they told the police station that I wasn't allowed to leave. The office had done these dishonorable things, the staff were afraid, and didn't dare acknowledge their actions.

As a result, without the papers from the 610 Office, I still got my passport. This is the power of righteous thoughts and actions. Although evil's appearance might be vicious, evil can never beat righteousness.

Something that happened lately taught me a big lesson. I realized that human notions are always emerging unconsciously and if we relax our standards, we will be easily exploited by the evil.

As I was reading the "Nine Commentaries" recently, the following human notion emerged. If we stripped the evil Chinese Communist Party of its exterior clothing, its evil nature would be exposed in broad daylight. Would the CCP leaders remain silent about it? Especially with the phenomenal tide of renouncement from the CCP and related organizations, would the CCP leaders mobilize a new wave of persecution against Falun Gong? Such a thought stemmed from my years of influence by the CCP culture, and exploited my uncultivated human nature. I gradually became exploited by the evil, as I was not able to eliminate this bad notion and interference soon enough.

I have experienced chest pain, increased heart rate and difficulty breathing for the past two weeks. I knew that this was the evil persecuting me, but, for a moment, I was unable to realize where it came from. While discussing and sharing with a fellow practitioner yesterday, the practitioner pointed out my fear straightforwardly and I felt that it was, indeed, the cause. On my way back home, I cleared my thoughts. I asked myself, with the progress of the Fa-rectification and the evil being almost eliminated and unable to support itself further, how could there be any more large scale mobilizations? Moreover, with Master and other righteous Gods eliminating them in other dimensions, the evil cannot simply do whatever it wants in human society. My human notions were simply a problem of my faith in the Fa. I should have nothing to fear with Master and the Fa at hand.

I sat down quietly and sent forth righteous thoughts when I got home. I saw two dark substances fall from my body. I immediately sent forth righteous thoughts to eliminate them, to prevent them from harming other people. In an instant, the two dark substances disappeared without a trace. I felt my breathing become relieved and refreshed immediately after sending forth righteous thoughts. My chest pain vanished as well.

Thereafter, I began practicing the exercises. As I was performing the third exercise, I felt a downward rush of warmth flow on the left side of my body and I began sweating. For the few days before this I had been afraid of cold. I had to immediately unroll my sleeves when I finished washing my hands, as I was afraid of the cold. I would get a runny nose if I encountered any chilly wind. I opened my windows to let the fresh air in the next day. I was not afraid of the cold anymore. My breathing and chest problems disappeared and returned to normal.

(Clearwisdom.net) I read a few articles on the Minghui website lately that discussed the issue of the predestined lifespan of elderly practitioners. This made me think about a few incidents that have happened around me. Some people were severely persecuted and some even lost their lives. Regarding veteran disciples who have walked past the personal cultivation phase during the Fa-rectification period - whether they have the issue of predestined lifespan or not, I'd like to discuss it with fellow practitioners based on the Fa.

Teacher said,

From this paragraph of the Fa, I realize that during the personal cultivation period and while cultivating within the Triple-World-Law, if we outlive our predestined lives because Master has extended it and yet we are not diligent and do not treat ourselves as cultivators, then our lives will be in danger.

But for Dafa disciples who have made it all the way to the Fa-rectification period, how does Master arrange our paths of cultivation?

Master has pushed practitioners to the highest positions, so my understanding is that we have long gone beyond the Triple-World-Law and are out of the Five Elements. Therefore, the predestined lifespan does not apply to Fa rectification disciples.

We are Dafa disciples during the Fa-rectification period. We have already gone through the personal cultivation period. Our staying in the human world is simply to assist Master to rectify the Fa, to save sentient beings and to accomplish our historical mission. The arrangement by the old forces can only constrain the lifespan of those in the Triple-World-Law. Those Dafa disciples who are able to catch up with the process of Fa-rectification are no longer controlled. We need to be very clear about this from the viewpoint of the Fa. Don't ever be tricked by the old forces. Completely negate at every thought the hidden plot by the old forces to take advantage of this and persecute Dafa disciples. Regarding when we will leave, Master said,

At the moment there are some Dafa disciples who have been able to catch up with the process of Fa-rectification, yet have lost their precious human body as a result of the evil's persecution. The main reason is that they walked the path arranged by the old forces. They had attachments that allowed the evil to find excuses to persecute them. Also they were not clear-headed about the Fa principles and they acknowledged the arrangements of the old forces in their thoughts. That is why the persecution occurred. Dafa disciples who passed away during the Fa-rectification period all followed the paths arranged by the old forces.

Fellow practitioner A is such an example. She was a veteran practitioner who started cultivating in 1996. She had had cancer before, but after learning Dafa her disease was cured. After the Fa-rectification period began, she did the three things and in some aspects she did very well. But her thoughts didn't catch up with the progress of Fa-rectification during an illegal detainment. She wasn't clear-minded about personal cultivation and Fa-rectification cultivation from the viewpoint of the Fa. For a period of time, she had conflicts with her family. She didn't immediately look inward to cultivate herself well and eliminate the evil. Instead, she believed that she was going through a xinxing test. That was actually admitting the arrangement of the old forces. After that, she seemed to have problems with her health. She again believed that she was going through a xinxing test. She thought that it was because she didn't cultivate her character well that she had tribulations with her health. She thought that it was a karma-elimination process, and the results became worse and worse. Teacher said,

Because Practitioner A admitted the arrangement of the old forces in multiple instances, her body was persecuted more and more severely. At that time, some fellow practitioners thought, "She initially had cancer, and that was because her predestined lifespan was about to be reached. After she started cultivating Dafa, Master extended her life. But because she didn't cultivate her character well, her life is in danger." Upon hearing this, Practitioner A also started to feel similarly. Afterwards, some fellow practitioners discussed the matter with her based on the Fa, but she was still not very clear about some of the principles of the Fa. Eventually she wasn't able to get rid of the arrangement by the old forces and lost her human body. Now some fellow practitioners say, "Could it be that Master knew that she was having too much of a hard time and so let her go first?" I believe those who have such thoughts are not clear about the Fa. Master said,

Fellow Practitioner B was a veteran practitioner who had cultivated for nine years. When she heard the news about Practitioner A, she fell into a state where she would be clear-minded for a minute and then doubtful the next. When she was clear-minded, she would think, "Practitioner A's omissions were too many. She admitted the arrangement of the old forces in many instances." When she became doubtful, she would think, "She was sitting there with excellent health just a few days ago, how could she just pass away like that? How come Master didn't take care of her? Was it because she reached the end of her predestined life? (At this point, Practitioner B already had many doubts about the Fa.)" Gradually as time went by, she gave up thinking about the issue.

Recently, she suddenly had the symptoms of a severe cold. She looked inward, but didn't find any major attachment. However, the symptoms became worse and worse. In the evening two days later, she was kneeling down on the bed and leaning against the wall. After some horrible coughing and after some time, she felt that she was slowly ascending. As she was ascending, she came across a 40-year-old woman midway who anxiously said to her, "Are you still going up? You are dying! Why don't you beg your Master to save you right now!" Practitioner B said, "Master is rather busy both in heaven and on earth. I can't just beg Master all the time. Plus, can coughing take my life?" The facial expression of that woman then turned serious. "Beg your Master quickly or you will die." Practitioner B then felt that she was in mid-air and couldn't come back. She quickly said, "Master! Your disciple is too incapable. I beg Master to please help me!" Immediately Practitioner B felt her master soul return to her body. Her body was still kneeling on the bed and leaning against the wall. Only then did she realize that her master soul had left her body and that it was Master who had saved her and sent her back.

Today, Fa-rectification has entered the last stage. Practitioners who have not stepped forward, whose bodies are severely persecuted and who are encountering major xinxing conflicts in the family and society, please hurry up and look inward. While doing the "three things" well, we should cultivate ourselves well. I'd like to urge fellow practitioners to frequently read Master's Fa lectures and new lectures and scriptures after July 20, 1999. From them, we can clearly see the Fa-rectification cultivation path that Master has arranged for us. We should righteously enlighten from within the Fa. Only when we follow the Fa can we stand on the basis of Fa-rectification.

In every thought we have, we should all use the Fa to judge ourselves, and measure whether it complies with the standard of Dafa disciples during the Fa-rectification period, and whether we are walking away from the selfishness of the old universe and heading toward the selflessness of the new universe. Only when we are clear-headed about the principles of Fa and negate the old force's arrangements at every thought can we break through personal cultivation, break the arrangements of the old forces and genuinely enter Fa-rectification period cultivation.

(Clearwisdom.net) Recently there have been three major events that have interfered with Dafa's rapid development. This is definitely something related to Dafa practitioners, as a whole, having problems. We should pay more attention to them. The following are the three events:

1. An American citizen published a book titled "The Man Who Changed China - The Life and Legacy of Jiang ...," which glorifies the evil Jiang. I briefly read the book and felt it was unlikely that it was written by a non-Chinese. In the book the manner of conceptualization and the variation in reasoning show the author's perfect command of the CCP's delicacy or execution of propaganda, which was definitely a work of the CCP.

2. The contract of New Tang Dynasty TV's satellite broadcasting will be terminated by a European company, which makes it impossible to transmit its truth clarifying programs through satellite to European and Asian areas.

3. The United States of America failed to raise the resolution of the CCP's human rights issue.

My analysis of the first event: We had human emotions about or in reaction to Jiang and we treated him as a person, and we treated the persecution as that of Jiang against Dafa practitioners. We still held the notion of people persecuting people and did not break through or away from our human notions. Thus our emotion and resentment came out. This kind of emotion was the manifestation of our human notions, which is like the behavior of non-practitioners. In fact, he is just a puppet in our dimension and is controlled by the evil from behind. Jiang is really nobody.

The analysis of the second event: In viewing Dafa practitioners in Mainland China as a whole, I discovered an important issue, which is that they treated the affair of the "New Tang Dynasty TV" as a matter for practitioners outside China. They did not relate it to themselves. They thought they needed only to watch or rebroadcast the programs. They did not realize that we are an inseparable entity. Moreover, we should maintain and protect any factors that are good for Dafa; and we did not view this factor as part of our own duty, feeling it was the business of those outside China. Our understanding stayed at a human level, and this was common among all the practitioners. This was a huge omission. Fellow practitioners, please take a look at yourselves, We, too, have a portion of responsibility for this issue.

Finally, the analysis of the third event. There are still some practitioners who are attached to their personal power or to the power of certain organization or countries. This gave the old forces an opportunity for interference and persecution, and this led to a huge loss.

The above three events have a common characteristic, which is that human attachments and/or human notions still remain. We did not view the problem from a high level or Fa perspective, and we did not have common understanding of the issue.

This is my personal understanding. I hope fellow practitioners can point out any mistakes.

(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Gong practitioner Mr. An Fentian, a professor at Beijing University of Chemical Technology, and his wife Chen Haifeng, were often detained and persecuted for practicing Falun Dafa. Professor An Fentian passed away on October 16, 2004. His wife Chen Haifeng was abducted and sentenced to prison many times. She is currently in detention.

An Fentian was 58 years old and began practicing Falun Dafa in 1995. After the persecution began on July 20, 1999, perpetrators from the Street Committee and the police station often harassed him at home, and they abducted and detained him during holidays and Party conferences. His and his wife's salaries were cut in half over the past five years. The perpetrators often tried to force the couple to write a guarantee statement but they firmly refused.

In October 2004, An Fentian and his wife were abducted when distributing truth clarification materials in Beijing, and the police ransacked their home. An Fentian was released on bail because he had high blood pressure. Chen Haifeng was illegally sentenced to three years in prison.

An Fentian suffered tremendously during the brutal persecution. He passed away on October 16, 2004. He was still awaiting interrogation when he died. His mother is 89 years old and his daughter is 24 years old.

Chen Haifeng was abducted four times by police and perpetrators for validating Dafa. She was sentenced to prison twice and was sentenced to one-and-a-half years of forced labor. On March 8, 2001, Ms. Chen and five other women practitioners at her work unit were either deceived or abducted and were sent to the Tuanhe Forced Labor Camp where they were detained for 15 days. In April 2001 Chen Haifeng was sentenced to forced labor for publishing a solemn declaration online.

(Clearwisdom.net) In 2002, Falun Gong practitioner Zhang Min from Weifang City, Shandong Province was reported to the authorities when she was distributing truth clarification flyers. She escaped, but her husband Chu Zhiming, a non-practitioner, was taken away by police. Chu Zhiming could not bear the persecution and took poison to commit suicide. In order to avoid further persecution, Zhang Min left home and is currently still homeless. The following are the details of what happened.

One day in 2002, Zhang Min took some truth clarification flyers and went with her husband to HougouVillage to buy wool. While her husband was buying the wool, she went to distribute the flyers. When she came to a house, an old woman came out. Zhang Min said to the old woman, "Ma'am, here is a truth clarification flyer for you. I am a Falun Gong practitioner and we strive to be good people." The old woman replied, "I cannot read, but my daughter-in-law can. Please come with me." Then a woman and a man came out of the house. The man, whose name is Zhang Shubin, said, "I specialize in arresting Falun Gong practitioners." He snatched her bag, which contained the truth clarification flyers, and went to make a call to 110 (equivalent to "911" in the U.S.). Meanwhile, Zhang Min took the opportunity to escape. Unfortunately, her husband Chu Zhiming was kidnapped. Both he and his car were kept in custody. He wasn't released until several days later. Because of the torment he suffered while in detention, he became mentally disoriented. He committed suicide by taking a certain kind of poison. A once happy family was thus destroyed. Zhang Min's mother-in-law asked her family members to go to the police station to request the return of their car. To their surprise, the police demanded a certain amount of money before they would return it. Chu Zhiming's family begged the police not to demand money. In the end, the head of the police station asked for 700 yuan and returned the car. Zhang Shubin was then rewarded with 500 yuan.

Under orders from the police, three inmates beat Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Jiang Rongzhen to death.

On October 13, 2002, police officers from Heilongjiang Province ordered three criminal inmates Huang Qixian, Lu Peiying and Zhou Lijuan to beat Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Jiang Rongzhen, who was locked inside a small cell, because she refused to be transformed. After the three criminals beat Ms. Jiang to within an inch of her life, they pulled her from the room and tried to force her to write the Three Statements. Ms. Jiang had already been knocked unconscious, but the three inmates claimed that she was pretending and continued to beat her until she died. Upon realizing that she was dead, the head of the police Zhang Yushu, Zhang Haipeng, Guo Tongxu, Shi Lianjiang and section chief Wang quickly asked the doctor to come wrap her up in blankets and bring her to the hospital for emergency treatment. This was how Ms. Jiang Rongzhen was beaten to death.

Four policemen tortured Ms. Song Guixiang for three days and three nights

On January 1, 2005, the Rehabilitation Center held a so-called celebration. Before the "celebration" started, Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Song Guixiang called out "Falun Dafa is good!" She was then dragged out of the location and locked into a small cell, where she was forced to sit in a steel chair. Policemen Yu Kun, Zhang Chunjing, Shi Shuai and Zhao Wei handcuffed Ms. Song behind her back and forcefully pulled her in the opposite direction. They tortured her continuously for three days and three nights, causing her to pass out from the pain.

Police officer Liang Xuemei committed bad deeds, which caused her husband to receive retribution

Police officer Liang Xuemei from the Heilongjiang Province Rehabilitation Center cruelly tortures Falun Dafa practitioners. She forces steadfast practitioners to sit on steel chairs and undergo physical punishment. She forces recently jailed practitioners to be brainwashed and perform heavy labor. She uses different torture methods and locking people in small cells to force practitioners to convert to Buddhism. Liang Xuemei's actions brought disaster to her husband, who recently had a car accident.

(Clearwisdom.net) A practitioner from Yushu City, Jilin Province has been detained many times because of her belief in Falun Dafa. After the police beat her on Tiananmen Square, she has lost her memory for more than one year. When her arm broke after a guard from a detention center tortured her with the "Big Hang Up" (1), they gave her no medical attention. She tells her story below.

I started practicing Falun Dafa in September 1998. Before then, I used to be very weak with many physical problems, and I had a bad temper. After learning Falun Dafa, I became healthy and developed an open mind. My family life became more harmonious.

Unfortunately, this peaceful life did not last long. Jiang ordered the persecution of Falun Dafa and started arresting practitioners on July 20, 1999. I went to Beijing to appeal. There were lots of plain-clothes policemen on Tiananmen Square arresting Falun Dafa practitioners. I was about to unfurl a banner, when something hit me from behind, and I passed out. When I gradually regained consciousness, I think I was in a vehicle, but I lost consciousness again. When I finally awoke, I noticed that my overcoat was gone. Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Guan was near me, put me on a train, and took care of me. I finally woke up when the train was approaching Changchun City. When I woke up I did not feel hungry or thirsty. When I got home, I could not eat anything, as my lips were swollen. I didn't realize how hard they had hit me. It took me more than one year of studying the Fa and doing the Falun Dafa exercises before my memory returned and my swollen lips were healed.

One evening in the summer of 2001, my husband told me, "I saw someone looking at us through our window." I did not pay much attention.

The next morning, I was having breakfast with my child. Suddenly, policeman Wang Haishun and others from the Zhengyang Substation stormed into our home, ransacked the place, and took away all of my Falun Dafa books. They forced me to sit on my bed, and tried to videotape me while two policemen twisted my arms behind me. I refused to cooperate with them, so they pulled my hair and slapped my face. I told my child to take my Falun Dafa books away. They threatened my child, causing my child to cry loudly. When they arrested me, Wang Haishun lied to my child, saying that they would send me back home in the afternoon. State Security Agent Zhang Deqing was there as well. I asked if I could put some clothes on. They refused, and would not even allow me put on my shoes.

They detained me for sixty-seven days in the detention center. I did not see the sun at all when I was there. I became very weak. They interrogated me, asking if I still wanted to practice. I answered, "Yes." They then sent me to another detention center. I later learned that my family gave Wang Haishun five thousand yuan, begging him to release me.

Upon reaching the new detention center, I went on a hunger strike to protest the illegal detention. I became very thin and weak. They force-fed me very salty food. After my fellow practitioners strongly protested, they sent me to a Hospital of Traditional Medicine. They did not pay for any medication, charging my family six hundred yuan instead. My husband went to the Political Security Office and requested that I be released. They said that we would have to pay another one thousand yuan. My husband told them that we did not have that much money. They answered, "Her sister has money-- we saw her wearing a golden necklace!" They then released me after extorting another one thousand yuan from us. My poor family borrowed nine thousand yuan so that they could get me out of the detention center. Even though I was tortured and almost died, Wang Haishun still repeatedly came to our home to harass me. He forced me to sign a guarantee statement to stop practicing, ordered me to submit to photos, and took my fingerprints.

On February 8, 2002, four days before the 2002 Chinese New Year, I went to visit my youngest uncle. Wang Haishun, Tan Minghui (male) and five to six policemen from the Zhengyang Substation ransacked his home, taking away a Falun Dafa book and a sitting mat for meditation. I tried to go back home, but they chased after me, arrested me and brought me to the Substation. My family had to bribe people and sign a guarantee statement on my behalf in order to have me released. In order to avoid being captured and persecuted again, I had to become destitute and homeless so they could not find me.

On August 30, 2002, they found me in an apartment building and arrested me again. Six or seven policemen broke through the deadbolt, stormed in to ransack the place and beat me. For the doors in the apartment that they could not open, they just kicked them to break the glass. They stuffed my mouth with bags to prevent me from talking. They brought me to an unknown place, tied me up from behind, and put me in a very small room only the size of a cage. About two hours later, they sent me to the detention center, where I saw Wang Haishun, the officer from the Zhengyang Police Station.

In the detention center, they put me in an Iron Chair (2), and I could not move at all. A guard from the State Security Division stamped on my toes with his leather boots. My toes swelled up very badly and were covered with purple bruises. They poured cold water on my head and threatened to arrest my child. They interrogated me, but could not reach their goal. Their electric batons failed when they tried to shock me. At that time, State Security Agents Sun Tiejun, Chai Wenge, Zhou Xianguo (all men), and others tortured me with the "Big hang up." They pulled my right hand from my shoulder top down, pulled my left hand from my lower back up, cuffed both my hands behind my back, and then hung me up with ropes tied to the handcuffs. My whole body was hanging in the air, and my right arm broke. I fell down to the floor, where Sun Tiejun whipped my back even though my arm had broken. They returned me to the detention center wounded and punished me as a prisoner. Then they tortured me with the Sitting Board (3) and forced me to recite the Prison Rules. They did not give me any treatment for my broken arm. It was only after three to four days, when my family learned of my situation that they bribed people to let me go to the Hospital of Traditional Medicine with my ankle shackles still on.

I did not violate the law. Just because I firmly believe in "Truth, Compassion, and Forbearance," and refuse to give up practicing Falun Dafa, they tortured me until I was disabled, making me so thin and weak. They did not allow my family to visit me during the first month. I went on hunger strike; then they force-fed me. They used four to five young men to hold down my legs, arms, and head, and they pinched my nose while they poured milk, which was saturated with salt, down my throat. They never cared whether my life was in danger or not.

My husband is also a practitioner. All his sicknesses were cured after he started practicing Falun Dafa. People who know him all say he is a nice man. But a State Security Agent arrested him, took his vehicle worth eight hundred yuan, and sentenced him to four years in prison. He is jailed in the Shiling Prison in Siping City.

My family members have been implicated by this persecution as well. Whenever the doorbell rings, they think it's the police coming to arrest people, and their hearts beat faster. Saddened by the arrests of my husband and me, our child cannot concentrate on studies and has received poor grades. My father died without being able to see his daughter and son-in-law for the last time. My mother can't sleep when TV programs mention Falun Gong; she misses me terribly. My mother-in-law misses her son so badly that she lost her eyesight. Jiang and his scoundrel regime can never pay enough for what my family has lost during this persecution.

(1) There are two forms in this torture: (1) With both hands cuffed behind the back and only the toes touching the ground (in this instance, the practitioner is entirely off of the ground), the practitioner is hung by a rope that is tied to the metal window frames. (2) One hand of a practitioner is cuffed to one bunk bed and the other hand to another bed, and the two beds are pulled in the opposite directions. One feels extreme pain as the body is pulled.

(2) The iron chair is made of iron pipes. Victims are restrained on the iron chairs with both arms and legs tied for a long period of time. (See illustration, http://www.clearwisdom.net/emh/articles/2002/1/9/17577.html.)

(3) Every day, practitioners are forced to put their hands on their laps, with their backs straight and sit on a bench 18 hours per day. In some cases, this has continued for over fifty days. The authorities even limit practitioners' restroom use time. Because of the long time spent sitting on hard benches, practitioners' buttocks form sores that hurt badly. (Clearwisdom.net) Falun Dafa practitioners An Ling and An Xing are from Xinsheng Village, Xinxing County, Shuangcheng City, Helongjiang Province. The police falsely incriminated and sentenced Ling and Xing to seven and eight years in prison, respectively.

Ms. An Ling, 42, was abducted on November 5, 2001, and sentenced to seven years in prison. She is currently detained in the Eighth Division of the Heilongjiang Women's Prison.

Ling's brother Mr. An Xing is 35 years old. He was abducted on the same day and sentenced to eight years in prison. He is currently detained in the Heilongjiang Province Daqing City Hongweixing Prison.

On September 28, 2001, village officials broke into An Haishan's home while he was making materials that expose local persecution facts. Village director Wang Chuizhou yelled, "I finally caught you! I will beat you severely." The deputy director of the police station, Kong Qingman, and seven or eight other scoundrels started beating An Haishan. They then searched An's home and confiscated much of his property, including four tape recorders, one VCR, and many audio and video tapes.

The police abducted An Haishan, took him to the station, and brutally interrogated him for a day, but they did not extract any information. The police then threatened to sentence An. For quite some time, Kong Qingman has been blackmailing practitioners. He has extorted over one hundred thousand yuan. Since An did not have much money, he was sent to the Shuang City Detention Center that night.

After two months of detention and many failed bouts of interrogation, Kong Qingman talked to An's oldest son An Yong, who is not a practitioner. "Your father is over 60," Kong said, "Since he is the local Falun Gong coordinator, he will get at least three years in prison. If he survives, he will certainly lose at least a layer of skin." Kong attempted to coerce An Yong into paying ten thousand yuan as bail, but An Yong only had six thousand. An Haishan was released, but the police forced him to move to another district. Kong Qingman then tried to extort another twelve hundred yuan for himself.

An Ling and An Xing told their brother An Yong, "Do not ever cooperate with the evildoers, let alone give them money." The police and officials abuse their power, and slander, falsely incriminate, blackmail, and extort money from Falun Dafa practitioners. Kong Qingman did not get the twelve hundred yuan, and he became outraged. Kong harassed the An's many times and threatened to arrest them if they did not move out immediately.

Kong Qingman raided the An household on November 5, 2001, abducted An Ling and An Xing, and demanded that An Yong hand over the money as ransom. Kong wanted eight thousand "yuan" for An Ling and ten thousand yuan for An Xing. Kong threatened to sentence them to between seven and eight years in prison. An Yong refused to cooperate. Kong started fabricating evidence against Ling and Xing, and he also subjected them to cruel torture.

An Xing was subjected to the so-called "big hang up." In this torture each limb is cuffed to a bunk bed and the beds are pulled apart in opposite directions. Xing experienced excruciating pain. He was also beaten with sand-filled plastic pipes. The police stripped his clothes and beat his ankles, knees, and spine with the sharp edges of metal rulers. They also broke two of Xing's ribs. They burned, scalded, and beat An Ling to the point that she could no longer stand upright. Two people had to hold her up to continue the torture.

In the mean time, Kong Qingman fabricated evidence against the practitioners he arrested. Practitioners Han Zhiming, Chen Shuli, Zhang Yongmei, Jin Chaoquan and Zhao Changbo bear witness to Kong's crimes. The charges were groundless, the evidence was made up, and the local village did not have anyone named Liu Yanling and Zhang Bin, who were both named as witnesses. Village official Bai Yongke had no idea about being a witness. He claimed, "Kong Qingman never asked me to be a witness, I never saw anyone passing out pamphlets. These are all made up stories, I can prove them false in court."

The Chief Judge Cheng Yan, and Judges Chen Jinbao and Liu Lifeng in the Heilongjiang Province Shuangcheng City People's Court sentenced An Ling to seven years and An Xing to eight years in prison.

(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Ma Jingfang was a Falun Dafa practitioner from the Dongcheng District in Beijing who died as a result of persecution. In 2002 she was illegally imprisoned in the 7^th Division of the Xin An Labor Camp in Beijing, where labor camp guards forced Falun Gong practitioners to get up early every morning to knit wool sweaters. Practitioners there were routinely forced to work through the night without rest. Enduring these conditions, Ms. Ma Jingfang developed an acute heart disease, and many of the other practitioners suffered varying degrees of physical deterioration. Progressive vision loss was very common among them. Soon after her heart disease surfaced, Ms. Ma was released, although it is still unclear as to whether she was released on a parole for medical treatment or due to the completion of her terms.

Sometime in July 2003, Ms. Ma Jingfang was again arrested along with two other practitioners Xie Ting and Chen Ying. Xie Ting was sentenced to a labor camp for a second time, but the labor camp refused to admit Ms. Ma Jingfang because of her severe heart problems. In early March 2005, Ms. Ma Jingfang died in a hospital as a result of her heart problems.

(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Zheng Chengkui was eighty years old and retired. She lived in Wujiaohua Dormitory, Huaihuawanlin County, Hunan Province. In October 2000, Ms. Zheng went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Dafa and was arrested and escorted back home. She was arrested again in 2002 for passing out truth clarification materials in Chouhuakou. The Wanlin County police raided her home, confiscated her personal property, and detained her for three months. The police continued harassing Ms. Zheng after her release. The authorities also ordered her children to confine their mother at home and force her to take unnecessary medicines. Ms. Zheng Chengkui passed away in May 2004, as a result of the relentless persecution.

Ms. Wang Shufen, from Dongguanshang Village, Zhangfang Town, Fangshan District, Beijing, began practicing Falun Dafa in 1997. After two years, all of her previous illnesses disappeared. Ms. Wang has been diligent in cultivation and truth clarification. She went to Beijing to appeal for Dafa, and police from Nanshang Station arrested her and escorted her back home. They took her to a local brainwashing class. There, Ms. Wang was forced to write a Guarantee Statement against her conscience. However, she diligently continued her cultivation practice after her release. A neighbor reported her to the police. Wang Shufen was sent to her parents' home in the mountains, where the police further persecuted her. Ms. Wang passed away in 2002 from the persecution.

Ms. Zhang Qifeng, sixty-four years old, lived in Haerbin City, Helongjiang Province. She was arrested in November 2000 for appealing for Falun Dafa on Tiananmen Square. The police detained her in the Harbin Detention Center. Ms. Zhang showed symptoms of a nervous breakdown and was later released to seek medical attention. The police continued to threaten and harass her at her home. In March 2001, Ms. Zhang was hospitalized again for symptoms of a nervous breakdown. The police went to the hospital and threatened to arrest Zhang Qifeng's son, who also practices Falun Dafa. Ms. Zhang was released from the hospital and passed away on April 11, 2001.

Ms. Wang Changzhou, age seventy, retired from the Forestry Bureau and lived in Baishan City, Jilin Province. In January 2000, she was detained for 15 days for going to Beijing to appeal for Falun Dafa. Ms. Wang developed leukemia and passed away in June 2004.

Mr. Pu Quanguan, sixty-eight, lived on Gutian Road, Huhan City, Hubei Province. Since the persecution began on July 20, 1999, the police have harassed and threatened him at his home many times and confiscated his personal documents. His wife was arrested and taken to a brainwashing class after coming back from appealing for Dafa in Beijing. Mr. Pu gave up Falun Dafa due to the persecution. He passed away on October 15, 2000.

1. [Beijing] Mr. Li Yuejin and Three Other Practitioners Arrested

Practitioners Mr. Li Yuejin, Mr. Wang Kunqi, Mr. Wang's father, and Mr. Zhang Ming, who is from Tongling in Anhui Province, were arrested in Beijing at 5:00 p.m. on March 5, 2005. The police ransacked Mr. Li and Mr. Wang's homes at 11:00 p.m. that night. The four practitioners were held at the Shijingshan Detention Center affiliated with the Gucheng Police Department in Beijing.

Mr. Li Yuejin had been twice sent to the Tuanhe Forced Labor Camp in Beijing. One day in summer 2002, Yue Weihua, an officer of the No. 5 Unit, ordered Mr. Li to stand out in the sun, where he passed out.

Ms. Zhang Yishu, 34, lives at Room 1-6, No. 2 Zhongtao Hutong Lane, Huokou, Guolou, Dongcheng District, Beijing. On March 5, when she returned home after work, officers were waiting outside her home. The police arrested her and then ransacked her home and confiscated a large number of truth-clarifying CD's, materials and other items.

In addition, Mr. Gong Chengxi and Mr. Ma Kun were missing on the same day.

2. [Donggang, Liaoning Province] Both of Ms. Zhao Guiqin's Legs Injured from Torture

At the end of 2004, fellow villagers Sun Hongsheng and Wang Yufa turned practitioner Mr. Yang Guoguang in to the Changshan Town Police Station for clarifying the truth. Officers found truth-clarifying materials at Mr. Yang's home. They learned that someone had given the materials to him. The police insisted that the materials were from Ms. Zhao Guiqin, who lived in the neighborhood, because they thought she might have a photocopying machine. The officers immediately went to Ms. Zhao's home and arrested her.

Ms. Zhao is not able to walk anymore due to injuries to her legs from torture. While ransacking her home, police also took 500 yuan from under her bedspread.

3. [Yitong County, Jilin Province] Dongliao County Police Torture Ms. Song Hong and Five Other Practitioners

On January 27, 2005, practitioners Ms. Song Hong, Mr. Zhao Jiayou, Mr. Zhao Debao, Mr. Sun Lianjun, Ms. Shao Guirong and Ms. Lei Guoxia from Yitong County, Jilin Province, went to Jian'an Town in Dongliao County to clarify the truth. On their way back, Liu Jiacheng alerted the police about their activities. The Jian'an Town police arrested the six practitioners, sent them to Baiquan Town in Dongliao County, and transferred them to the Xiangyang Detention Center for torture.

The officers inserted electric needles into Ms. Song Hong's head. Mr. Zhao Jiayou and Mr. Zhao Debao were also mentally and physically abused. The six practitioners were sentenced to two or more years of forced labor. On February 27, they were sent to either the Huizuizi Forced Labor Camp or the Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp in Changchun City, Jilin Province. The practitioners were in bad shape physically after being severely tortured, and the labor camp authorities refused to admit them. All of them were released after their families each paid a fine of 3000 yuan for "disrupting social order." Within ten hours of their returning home, Jian'an police sent eight officers to arrest them again under the pretense of conducting physical examinations at the Liaoyuan City Hospital. The six practitioners have since been forced to become homeless to avoid persecution.

4. [Pingdingshan City, Henan Province] Mr. Gong Changling Arrested

Mr. Gong Changling, 42, is an employee of the Tianshi Group in Pingdingshan City, Henan Province. On November 6, 2004, Mr. Gong was arrested while posting Falun Dafa materials in a building in the No. 2 Pingdingshan Mine. He was taken into custody at the city's law and order detention center. At 5:00 p.m. that afternoon, officers Tian Kaixuan and Ji Yinghui from the No. 2 Mine Police Station ransacked his home. All Falun Dafa books and other materials were confiscated. On November 9, 2004, Mr. Gong Changling was transferred to the Pingdingshan Detention Center for continued custody. His family was not notified. The authorities have withheld all information related to Mr. Gong and denied his family any visits.

6. [Feixiang County, Hebei Province] Liu Qiongtang from Xin'anzhen Township Taken to the County Detention Center

On February 6, 2005, Wang Xuefeng, Xin'anzhen Township Party Secretary in Feixiang County, Hebei Province, broke into Liu Qiongtang's home in the township's Qianbailuobao Village. Wang abducted Liu Qiongtang to the county detention center, claiming that Liu had burned incense in front of Teacher Li Hongzhi's portrait.

Practitioners Ms. He Shuhua, Ms. Hu Minghua and Ms. Yang Yulan, from Zigong City, Sichuan Province, were arrested on March 6 after the police received reports that they were clarifying the truth. 11. [Hunan] Mr. Wang Fuping Unjustly Arrested in Zhaoqing Guangdong Province

Mr. Wang Fuping, 32 years old from Hunan Province, was a part-time worker in Fenghuang Town, Zhaoqing City, Guangdong Province. He has a college degree. He has practiced Falun Gong for less than a year. On March 8, 2005, he was followed when distributing truth-clarifying materials. Police ransacked his apartment and confiscated his Falun Dafa books and truth-clarifying materials. He was taken to the Zhaoqing Police Station. Wang Fuping has two children, and the younger one is only a few months old. His wife has no job, and his elderly parents also need his care. He needs urgent help.

In February 2005, Mr. Zheng Hui from Linbo District, Zibo City, Shandong Province. was arrested and sent to the Wangcun Forced Labor Camp. Zheng Hui was on a hunger strike to protest his unjust arrest.

At 11 a.m. on March 8, 2005, Liu Jianfei, the chairperson of the neighborhood Committee, broke into Ms. Zhou Weihong's home and stopped her from leaving. Several officers then broke into her house and dragged her out. She was sent to the Baimalong Forced Labor Camp of Zhuzhou City on the same day.

On March 7, 2005, policemen from the Chadianzi Police Station arrested Leng Jiang from Chengdu City, Sichuan Province, was arrested at his/her own store. The store was ransacked, and his/her operating license was confiscated. According to eyewitnesses, six police cars came to the store. Policemen handcuffed Leng Jiang and took him/her away. The next day, Leng Jiang was sent to the Dongzikou Detention Center in Chengdu City.

16. [Chongqing City, Sichuan Province] Mr. Wang Rongwu Tortured in the Chongqing 610 Office

Mr. Wang Rongwu started to cultivate Falun Dafa in 1996. He was forced to become homeless after escaping from Jiulongpo Brainwashing Center of Chongqing with the help of righteous thoughts at the beginning of 2001. On August 11, 2004, he was arrested at his rented apartment. His wife and mother were also arrested at the same time, but both were later released. On March 14, 2005, the 610 Office of Chongqing attempted to put him on trial without proper legal procedures.

17. [Beijing] Mr. Zhang Xinpu from Zhaoyang District Illegally Detained

The 610 Office and Police Station of Guangying Town, Chaoyang District, Beijing, detained Mr. Zhang Xinpu, former Senior Colonel of the Institute of Artillery of the People's Liberation Army, for over two months. He is now being held at the Alumni Hotel at No.1 Courtyard in Beiyuan.

18. [Huludao, Liaoning Province] Ms. Guan Lianjie and Mr. Xing Guoshu of Suizhong County Arrested

Ms. Guan Lianjie worked at the Suizhong Electric Company of Huludao City, Liaoning Province. On February 24, 2005, police from the public security office in Suizhong County searched her house without legal documents and arrested her for clarifying the truth by cell phone. She is currently held at the Suizhong County Detention Center.

The police arrested Mr. Xing Guoshu, 66 years old, from Dawangmiao Town on March 2, 2005, and sent him to the Suizhong County Detention Center. He had just returned home after an absence of six months. Public security officer Li Zhanghua ransacked his house in August 2004 and forced Mr. Xing to become homeless for those months.

28. [Wuchang, Heilongjiang] Ms. Chen Jing and Ms. Wang Jinying Arrested

Officers from the Public Security Office and the 610 Office in Wuchang City, Heilongjiang Province, again arrested Ms. Cheng Jing and Ms. Wang Jinying from Niujia Township. They are being detained at the 610 Office Brainwashing Center.

29. [Nongan, Jilin] Mr. Pan Gang Arrested

Police in Nongan County arrested local resident Mr. Pan Gang and sent him to a forced labor camp.

Facts of the Persecution

1. Falun Dafa Practitioner Jia Zhefa escaped from Chishan Prison in Hunan Province; practitioner Zhang Peng brutally tortured

On the afternoon of October 18, 2004, Falun Dafa practitioner Jia Zhefa escaped from Chishan Prison in Hunan Province. Later that same day, Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Zhang Peng was detained in solitary confinement. On November 2, Mr. Zhang was sent to the Wulingyuan Prison in Changde where he was handcuffed and hung up for six days and six nights. The eight guards who took part in the torture included four guards from Chishan Prison, led by Zi Wei, and four from the Yuanjiang City National Security Bureau led by Zeng Ming. During the more than two months that Mr. Zhang was in detention at the Wulingyuan Prison, they took turns persecuting him by not allowing him to sleep. On January 10, 2005, Mr. Zhang was transferred to the Yuanjiang City Detention Center. Late at night on January 14, six officers from the Yuanjiang City National Security Bureau led by Zeng Ming covered Mr. Zhang's face and escorted him to a hotel several miles from the Chishan Prison, where they hung him up for six days, during which time they took turns interrogating him. The last person to talk to him was a political head from the Yiyang City Police Department. He talked to Mr. Zhang for over five hours; Mr. Zhang clarified the truth to him.

2. Perpetrators in Shulan City, Jilin Province persecute Dafa practitioners

On October 9, 2004, perpetrators from the Shulan City 610 Office, the city police department, the National Security Bureau and the Lianhua Township Police Station, including officer Du Yuzhuo, persecuted Dafa practitioners in Lianhua Township. They arrested the practitioners and ransacked their homes. They ransacked the homes of practitioners Cheng Zhaoli and Mr. Liu Huaide and sent Mr. Liu to the Shulan City Detention Center. Mr. Liu was ruthlessly tortured during detention and was later illegally sentenced to one year of forced labor. The labor camp refused to accept him because he was old and ill. When his family visited him at the detention center on March 1, 2005, his left check and eyelid were severely swollen; he had furuncles on top of his head seeping pus and he could not walk normally. His family could hardly recognize him.

Practitioner Mr. Liang Wanlin was arrested at home and sent to the Shulan City Detention Center. He suffered a nervous breakdown due to the persecution. The perpetrators sentenced him, a man in his 60s, to one year of forced labor and sent him to the Jiutai Labor Camp in Yinmahe.

3. Perpetrators at the Kangxianzhuang Township Police Station in Bazhou City, Hebei Province

Perpetrators from the Kangxianzhuang township government, the Political and Judiciary Committee and the police station have persecuted Dafa practitioners during the past five years. At 11:00 a.m. on February 5, 2005 [Chinese lunar calendar], a dozen perpetrators from the Kangxianzhuang Township Police Station and from the National Security Bureau arrested practitioner Mr. Zhang Xiaoxia from her home in Beigaogezhuang Village. Once before, Ms. Zhang and another practitioner from the same village were arrested and sent to the village government. The perpetrators locked them in the same room with a 20-year-old male inmate. The room was dark and damp, with bugs crawling all over. The practitioners had bug bites all over their bodies that itched and ached.

Practitioners Han and Wang were arrested when working in the fields. They were handcuffed to a wire pole in the pouring rain; they shivered in the cold weather and could hardly walk afterwards. A family of four was arrested and taken to the village police station; the young child was left behind, with no one to care for him. In the past few years, many practitioners have been arrested and sentenced to forced labor. The perpetrators repeatedly arrested, harassed and searched the practitioners and sent them to the city detention center or to forced brainwashing centers.

4. Please rescue practitioner Sun Yongsheng who is being persecuted at the No. 2 Prison in Shenyang City

Practitioner Mr. Sun Yongsheng from the Wanghua District, Fushun City, Liaoning Province was arrested on October 8, 2003, during a shopping trip. He disappeared for one year. It was later learned that he was sentenced to prison. In August 2003, Mr. Sun was held at No. 2 Prison in Shenyang City for over one month without access to a quilt or bedding. The terrible unhygienic environment made him develop pus on his skin. Due to the long-term persecution, he lost his ability to take care of himself. His family is planning a lawsuit against the prison authorities, and the prison authorities are planning retaliation. Right now, Mr. Sun is being held in Ward 20 of the No. 2 Prison in Shenyang. He is being held in solitary confinement and is in critical condition.

Persecution of Falun Dafa Practitoners

Practitioners Mr. Ma Lingxi, Ms. Yang Fuzhen, and Mr. Yang Fujun from Yushu City, Jilin Province Abducted

On March 20, 2005, practitioners Mr. Ma Lingxi, Ms. Yang Fuzhen from Xinli Town, and Mr. Yang Fujun from Chengfa Township, Yushu City, Jilin Province, were abducted by police from the local substation one by one. Ms. Yang Fuzhen had previously been detained and sentenced to forced labor. She was brutally beaten, and forced to wear ankle shackles, perform heavy labor, and endure many other forms of physical abuse. Mr. Ma Lingxi had also been previously harassed, abducted, and detained.

Persecution of Mr. Chen Weidong from Fei County 610 Office, Shandong Province

Ever since July 20, 1999, when the persecution began, the Fei County 610 Office, Chen Weidong, and County Deputy Secretary Wang Dongsheng (male) of the CCP Committee, lead the Political Security Committee and other officials to persecute Falun Dafa practitioners. At the beginning of the persecution, they openly monitored practitioners, and then started using hidden recording and reporting systems. They gathered most of the practitioners together, ordered practitioners to march in the baking sun, stand in a half-squat (1) position, or stand on one leg. They did not allow practitioners to drink water. When practitioners could no longer stand on one leg, they were forced to crawl on the burning-hot asphalt. More than twenty Fei County practitioners were sent to the Linyi Brainwashing Class. Practitioners were also detained and interrogated in a county government-owned motel. Several practitioners employed by a meat processing plant were detained there. Among them, Ms. Wang Yan escaped with handcuffs still on, and was forced to become homeless in order to avoid being arrested at home. As of 2003, twenty nine practitioners in Fei County had been sentenced to forced labor. In October 2004, officers from the 610 Office arrested practitioner Ms. Yin Xuhua and ransacked her house. They also ransacked the home of a lady (non-practitioner) who helped Ms. Yin make copies of truth clarifying materials. She was not arrested only because she was pregnant. Ms. Yin Xuhua was soon sentenced to three years of forced labor for the second time. On January 27, 2005, practitioner Ms. Gao Xiaolan clarified the truth at a morning market, and was abducted by Chen Weidong, head of the 610 Office. She was held at the Fei County Detention Center for ten days.

Mr. Zhao Weisheng Brutally Tortured at Weibei Prison in Shandong Province

Practitioner Mr. Zhao Weisheng , 50, lives in Binzhou City, Shandong Province. He was sentenced to two years of forced labor because he firmly cultivates Falun Dafa. After his release, he wrote an article about how Jiang and his regime violated human rights and the laws by persecuting Falun Dafa practitioners. He was abducted again, and sentenced to three years in prison. In Weibei Prison, the guards could not "transform" him because of his strong righteous thoughts. Later Sun Jisheng (male) transferred him to the Fifth Ward, and tortured him secretly. Practitioner Mr. Li Guang was tortured to death in the Fifth Ward, where a group of guards shocked him with high voltage batons. According to information from the Weibei Prison, Mr. Zhao was also brutally tortured.

Persecution of Former Yongyang Town Legal Institute Deputy Director Ms. Liu Xiufeng

Ms. Liu Xiufeng is a former Yongyang Town Legal Institute Deputy Director, and also head of the Legal Service Department. Because she firmly cultivated Falun Dafa, she was sent to the brainwashing center many times, and detained by government personnel where she worked. She was sentenced to one year of forced labor in May 2000, but she was rejected by the labor camp due to high blood pressure. The Laishui County 610 Office held her at Laishui County Detention Center for one year, and forced her husband to divorce her. Her employer dismissed her from the CCP and the organization. On November 20, 2004, Ms. Liu Xiufeng was abducted again, and sentenced to three years of forced labor. The labor camp rejected her again because she had high blood pressure and kidney failure. Despite her condition, she is still in custody.
