(Clearwisdom.net) My mother started practicing Falun Gong in 1996. At first I thought that Falun Gong was just a qigong exercise that helps one to get rid of illness and maintain health. But after my mother studied the books and did the exercises for some time, I found out that Falun Gong is a form of high-level cultivation that teaches one to be compassionate and strive towards being a good person.
On July 20, 1999, Jiang's regime slandered Falun Gong and declared it as a target. Thereafter the persecution of Falun Gong escalated. My mother and sister, both Falun Dafa practitioners, were illegally detained. They suffered various kinds of persecution and torture in the detention centers. At that time the chief of the town police station even announced that he wanted to fine us until we were broke and bulldoze down our houses.
In order to secure my mother and sister's freedom, I went around everywhere to ask for help. My father and brother-in-law frowned and worried every day. During the 5 years of persecution, my family has been fined over ten thousand Yuan. The mental pain and hurt inflicted on my family members, friends and relatives could not be measured in monetary terms.
In these few years, I witnessed the process of how my mother and sister were
persecuted. However, what I could not understand despite much thinking is why a
person is not allowed to learn to be a good person? Are we all supposed to learn
to be bad people? My mother was freed from her medical problems after practicing
Falun Gong. Why is it that she is not allowed to tell others publicly? These
Falun Gong practitioners, despite the cruel persecution, still persisted in
practicing
Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance, being good people and doing good
deeds.
We should let others know the real story of Falun Gong. Practitioners are without hate and complaints. As a family member of Falun Gong practitioners, I kept thinking that the family members of Falun Gong practitioners should not keep our silence any longer. We should not feel afraid and back away in the face of unreasonable suppression and illegal persecution. Let us all face the persecution together with our family members and support them persistently. Let us bring out our courage to help more righteous and kind-hearted people stand on the side of upholding righteousness, and together we can put a stop to this catastrophe happening to humanity.

For a family from Dalian City, Liaoning Province, who used to practice another qigong, New Year's 2005 is a new beginning. Their family of six each firmly gave up their old practice, and together began to practice Falun Dafa.
The boss at one of the family's workplace is also a practitioner. Thanks to the boss' tireless efforts clarifying the truth and extolling the benefits of Falun Dafa, one of his employees realized the truth and began to practice Dafa. Then, this person went home and passed on Falun Dafa to the parents, brothers, and sisters.
The father of the family is in his 80's. He studies the Fa and does the exercises very diligently, and has progressed really quickly. In the past, he usually did not go down the stairs (it was hard for him to walk). Or, when he did go down, to walk a few hundred meters, he would need to rest many times. After learning Dafa, one day, with the accompaniment of his wife, he walked very far (over a kilometer, half a mile) and never rested once on the route. His legs were obviously strengthened.
The mother formerly used to always be lying down, listless and vexed. A few days after learning Dafa, her daughters came every day; she would no longer be always lying down, and she was no longer constantly annoyed. In her own words, she now is "full of spirit and energy."

[Note: On February 6, Falun Gong practitioners from countries all over the world became the target of a Chinese Government phone harassment campaign. In Finland and other countries of Europe, as well as in the United States and Canada, practitioners' home, work and mobile phones received continuous pre-recorded phone calls. When answering the phone, there were either English or Chinese propaganda recordings which attacked and slandered Falun Gong. The content of the recordings was identical to the propaganda that Jiang Zemin and his cohorts have used as a part of their persecution campaign against Falun Gong.]
"Hundreds of phone calls harass Finnish Falun Gong practitioners"

Four Finnish practitioners of Falun Gong have been pressured with hundreds of harassing phone calls between last Sunday and Tuesday. Pre-recorded harassment calls contained strong slandering of the practice. The calls were in English and Chinese. One of the practitioners from the city of Kemi received as many as 370 phone calls.
"Practitioners from Oulu, Jyväskylä and Helsinki have also received phone calls," says Veijo Pekkarinen from Oulu, who estimates that the number of calls has reached nearly 500. Pekkarinen says that in the previously mentioned cities practitioners have regular activities and believes that phone numbers have been taken from Falun Gong websites.
Calls All Over the World
"We filed a complaint last Monday to the Police of Oulu. Because it is a question of such a serious issue, we have also reported it to the Security Police," says Pekkarinen.
According to Pekkarinen, the same type of phone call has been made to 12 countries, mainly in Western Europe, the United States and Australia. Practitioners' home, work and mobile phones have been the target of automatic and continuous attacks.
Over 60 Lawsuits
Upon answering the phone, at the other end of the line runs either an English or Chinese tape-recording, which attacks Falun Gong [...]. Pekkarinen believes that the reason for this aggressive tactic is that Falun Gong has been strongly bringing China's human rights issues into the spotlight.
"There are over 60 lawsuits which have been filed in different parts of the world against those Chinese Officials who have been involved in persecuting people in China and abroad," Pekkarinen clarifies.

"I can't think of anyone else who would benefit from this. This is exactly the same material which the Chinese Government has been sending out at home and abroad."

(Clearwisdom.net) On the afternoon of the 11th of February 2005, on behalf of Falun Gong practitioners, Lawyer Fabrice Orlandi filed a legal petition to the Tribunal de Grande Instance de Paris. The petition requested a comprehensive investigation into the incident on January 2004, in which, bowing to the pressure from the Chinese communist regime, French police harassed Falun Gong practitioners.
During the Chinese leader's state visit to France at the end of January 2004, a few hundred Falun Gong practitioners gathered in Paris for a peaceful appeal requesting China to stop the campaign of genocide against the practice. Appealing is a basic human right for people in a free and democratic country and is also the founding principle of France. Regrettably, bowing to pressure from the Chinese communist regime and violating its own basic principles, relevant French organisations carried out arbitrary searches, arrests and detention of Falun Gong practitioners. This not only violated the practitioners' basic freedom, but also led to a more serious consequence: Falun Gong practitioners were impeded in their efforts to expose the brutal persecution of Falun Gong in China to the governments, media and people. It also unwittingly helped the persecutors of Falun Gong. Therefore, this is a very serious issue.
According to incomplete statistics, over ninety Falun Gong practitioners from Europe, the United States and Asia were harassed to different degrees by the French authorities. After the incident, they provided over sixty statements detailing exactly what happened. Almost all these statements indicated that the French police's actions were directed at Falun Gong practitioners. Over ten statements stated that there were orders from senior levels to French police, specifically targeting Falun Gong practitioners who came to Paris to peacefully appeal. More than half the statements stated that French police were unusually watchful or even hostile towards practitioners, not just carrying out simple and routine questioning. Many detained practitioners were subjected to violations of their rights, such as not being allowed to contact their respective embassies, make telephone calls or to go to the toilet, and they were detained for long periods of time. Some practitioners even received abusive treatment.
After the incident, French Falun Gong practitioners, together with practitioners from other countries, made great efforts to explain to the French Government, media and legal profession, as well as those from other countries, what Falun Gong is and the enormous extent to which the practice has been violently suppressed in China. Many politicians from different nations raised their concerns and expressed their support. Meanwhile, French practitioners have been actively seeking legal means to obtain justice.
After careful preparation and overcoming much interference on behalf of Falun Gong practitioners, Lawyer Fabrice Orlandi filed a legal petition to the Tribunal de grande instance de Paris requesting a comprehensive investigation into the incident.
In the petition, the Lawyer first outlined the background of Falun Gong's teachings of Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance, the practice's spreading all over the world, the brutal persecution of Falun Gong by Jiang Zemin and the Chinese Communist Party, and Falun Gong's peaceful and rational appeals calling for an end to the persecution. The lawyer thinks the reason behind the French police's arbitrary detention of practitioners last year was that these people practise Falun Gong. This constituted violations against personal freedom.
Lawyer Fabrice Orlandi also pointed out that the French Home Secretary claimed, in a letter, that materials distributed by Falun Gong practitioners were hostile to the Chinese Government (Note: Falun Gong practitioners are not against any governments; they are against the persecution of Falun Gong.), and could thus harm public order and cause safety problems for officials. But in another letter, the office of the Home Secretary positively confirmed the peaceful nature of Falun Gong practitioners. Thus, the lawyer concluded that the harassment and detention of Falun Gong practitioners in Paris during the Chinese leader's visit was France's demonstration to China that "it safeguards the friendly cooperation between two countries".
Finally the legal petition states that Falun Gong practitioners and the French Falun Dafa Association, who as host issued invitations to practitioners from other countries, considered that their basic rights were violated and decided to file the lawsuit. Section 432-4 of the Criminal Law accuses the improper use of power by persons carrying out their duty. In addition, persons involved in this incident may also have violated the European Human Rights Treaty and 1996 Citizen and Political Rights Charter.
Because the petition did not limit the persons involved in the incident, it is possible that the investigation could target the black-hands from the Chinese Communist regime that controlled the event from behind the scenes.
On the 12th of February 2005, a few hundreds Falun Gong practitioners held a big Chinese New Year parade in Paris's Belleville where many local Chinese people live. Lawyer Fabrice Orlandi attended the celebration and told the public, "In democratic countries like France, it is totally unacceptable that people were arrested purely because of their philosophical thinking and that people's freedom of expression was taken away just because of the Chinese leader's visit. Your rights must be maintained. The path ahead could be long, but we will walk it to the end."
During an interview with NTDTV and The Epoch Times newspaper, Lawyer Fabrice Orlandi said that this is only the first part of the legal action because it only included twelve witnesses and the French Falun Dafa Association. Others from the group of ninety-seven witnesses will also submit their legal petitions. As soon as a judge is appointed, the investigation will start to establish how ninety-seven practitioners could have been arbitrarily detained just because they wore yellow scarves. The lawyer also said that this is the year of the Rooster; the Rooster is the symbol of France and it is also symbolises the will to fight. Let's hope that our fight for maintaining our rights will extend over national boundaries and reach the shores of China.

(Clearwisdom.net) On February the 12th, Falun Gong practitioners from St. Petersburg, Moscow and Saratov gathered at the subway station of Kirovsko in St. Petersburg. The main aim of this activity was to introduce the practice of Falun Gong to the locals, expose the Chinese Communist Party's brutal persecution under the Jiang regime and appeal for justice and conscience.

Four large banners, Falun Gong practitioners' art work and over a hundred different pictures of the torture methods used to force Falun Gong practitioners to renounce their beliefs were suspended at the main entrance to the subway. Falun Gong practitioners told the passing pedestrians about the spreading of Falun Gong around the world and talked about the Falun Gong practitioners' art work. Simultaneously, they exposed the campaign of genocide that has been happening in China for over five years. They also displayed pictures of those who have been persecuted and revealed the extent of the death toll of practitioners.
After viewing the exhibition, many pedestrians requested information about Falun Gong and how they could help to stop the persecution on their own initiative. The majority of them signed the petition to support Falun Gong and condemned the persecution by the Chinese Communist Party.

(Clearwisdom.net) On February 13, 2005, New Zealand practitioners participated in the "New Spirit Festival" in Auckland. Using lotus flowers, balloons, paintings and banners, practitioner decorated their booth, giving it a novel and beautiful look. Falun Dafa books, Exercises Instruction Video CDs, exercise music cassettes, truth-clarifying materials as well as a petition book to call for an end to the persecution were displayed.

Practitioners coordinated very well during the event. Everyone took their role seriously: some collected signatures, some distributed fliers and answered questions, some demonstrated the exercises, etc. A western practitioner sat at the booth to patiently answer visitors' questions about Falun Gong and the ongoing persecution. A 7-year-old from the Chinese Minghui School distributed fliers.
Several practitioners repeatedly demonstrated the 5 sets of exercises. The peaceful music and the smooth and graceful exercises attracted many visitors. Some asked where local practice sites are and when they can learn. An elderly lady sincerely praised practitioners' exercise demonstration and repeatedly said that she could sense practitioners' mighty energy.
The beauty of Falun Dafa cast a dramatic contrast with the evil nature of the persecution. People who have learned the truth expressed their condemnation of the persecution and their sympathy to practitioners persecuted in China. Many visitors took the initiative to sign the practitioners' petition, and one lady took a petition form with her to collect signatures from her friends who live far away.
In the afternoon, a group of TV reporters came to cover the festival. When they noticed the practitioners' booth and exercise demo, the reporters showed great interest. They videotaped the demo and a reporter then came to ask a practitioner to provide details of the persecution.
(Clearwisdom.net) On February 16, 2005, the "Uncompromising Courage" Art Exhibit was held in the York Hotel in downtown Sydney. More than 40 works of art by Falun Gong practitioners were displayed.

Explaining the artworks
At the entrance of the exhibition hall, a painting named "Banner" was displayed. In the painting, a mother was sewing a banner while her lovely child was listening to Master Li's lecture audio quietly. The whole scene was very peaceful, which attracted many visitors' special attention. The exhibit consisted of five parts: "Buddha Light Illuminates Heaven and Earth," "Assimilate to the Fa and return to One's True Self," Testimony of Righteous Faith," "Spreading the Truth and Calling for Justice," and "Justice Prevails."
From the first painting, "Vow" to the last one, "Drum," the 40 plus artworks vividly depict how gods have come to the earth to fulfill their prehistoric vows as well as practitioners' joy of obtaining Falun Dafa, their unyielding courage despite the brutal persecution, their global effort to spread the truth worldwide, and the time when all the perpetrators are brought to justice.
The paintings touched many visitors. A young fellow in his mid-20s brought his friends to the exhibit in the afternoon after he himself viewed the paintings in the morning. In the exhibit log, he wrote: "It is so touching..." He also asked for Falun Dafa materials. He said that he wanted to learn the exercises and he would show the materials to his mother, who is Chinese.

Some practitioners with good English skills showed visitors around. One practitioner commented: "We actually didn't need to say much as they already learned a lot after they viewed the paintings, which are so vivid."
Some visitors asked for extra copies of the exhibit flier, as they wanted to share them with their colleagues and friends. The exhibition in the York Hotel will last 12 days, from 9am to 9pm. A press conference will be held on February 25.
(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Tong Huilan, a 70-year-old Falun Dafa practitioner in the Wuchang District in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, miraculously recovered from late-stage cancer after practicing Falun Gong.
After the persecution of Falun Gong began in July 1999, Ms. Tong went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong in November 2000. She was arrested, and the police beat her so badly that she suffered a concussion. Later in 2002, the perpetrators captured the elderly woman in order to brainwash her into renouncing Falun Gong and even confiscated her hard-earned savings of 2,000 yuan that she had accumulated over the years of collecting recyclables and selling them. Tong Huilan died an unjust death on January 20, 2004. The following is her story:
Ms. Tong Huilan was a late-stage cancer patient before she started practicing Falun Gong. The doctor told her that she could only live for another six months; however, after she started to practice Falun Gong, she miraculously recovered from her cancer. During her seven to eight years of Falun Gong practice, the elderly Tong Huilan's health has been great.
After July 20, 1999, when the persecution of Falun Dafa began in China, Tong Huilan persisted in her belief in "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance." In November 2000, in order to clarify any misunderstandings that the government might have against Falun Gong practitioners, Ms. Tong went to Beijing to petition for Falun Gong. However, she was beaten up so badly by the Beijing police that she suffered a brain concussion. Her right thumb and index finger were also fractured.
In 2002, officers from the Jiyuqiao Police Station in Wuchang District, Wuhan City severely beat Tong Huilan. They dragged her eight floors down from her apartment and pushed her into a small car. They arrested her in violation of the Chinese Constitution and detained her in the Yangyuan Brainwashing Class. The authorities even confiscated the 2,000 yuan she has saved over the years of collecting recyclables and selling them. They threatened and tried to coerce the elderly woman into writing a "Guarantee Statement." They frequently harassed Tong Huilan and prohibited her from practicing the Falun Gong exercises. Ms. Tong eventually died an unjustified death on January 20, 2004.

This group of pictures shows the outside of Qingdao City's current brainwashing center. The city's 610 Office, located on 34 Mingxia Road in the North District of Qingdao City, Shandong Province, is responsible for this center. To hide its true identity, signs were hung up in front of the entrance, which say "Qingdao City Massage Instruction Center for People with Visual Impairment" and "National Appraisal Center for Professional Skills." However, none of these places exist. All of the windows are equipped with strong steel railings.

Most of the Falun Dafa practitioners who are detained in the brainwashing center were arrested and sent there by police stations in Qingdao City and the surrounding districts, towns, and counties. There are also some practitioners who were transferred here for further persecution when they completed their terms in other forced labor camps. Since 2002, Qingdao City has been accepting practitioners who have completed their terms at other forced labor camps. People from the 610 Office send them directly to the brainwashing center, where they are required to stay at least one month.
When Licang District's practitioner Ms. Gao Mingxia was illegally sent to the local forced labor camp for the second time, the authorities there was afraid that she would affect the people who had given in to the brainwashing, and they initially refused to accept her. The Qingdao City 610 Office then sent a valuable gift to bribe the officials of the forced labor camp. Later on, Ms. Gao was sent to the brainwashing center for 11 months. In April or May 2004, Ms. Gao was again sent to the forced labor camp.
The staff at the 610 Office said that when the police department intends to persecute certain practitioners for a criminal prosecution without any evidence, they can just send the practitioners to the brainwashing center and let the brainwashing center take care of the responsibility for detention. This can be done because the brainwashing center can detain anyone without reason, and there is also no limit on the duration of the detention. Evidence is required to put someone in criminal detention, and the duration of detention can't exceed one month. While the victim is being detained, the police department then takes its time to search for so-called "evidence." After they find some so-called "evidence," they will send the practitioners from the brainwashing center directly to a forced labor camp or prison. This happened in the case of practitioner Ms. Su Jun, who was arrested after being illegally detained at the brainwashing center for a few months. She is imprisoned at the Qingdao City Dashan Detention Center to this day. Ms. Tian Xiulan and other practitioners were also sent to the forced labor camp after they were seized from the brainwashing center. Tan Hongrang, Wang Taojing, and other practitioners are still being detained at the brainwashing center.
Wang Hongjun, the former No. 2 Division Manager of the Qingdao City Police Department, and Geng Shixiang, the former Associate General Secretary of Qingdao City's North District Political and Juridical Committee, are the leaders of the Qingdao City 610 Office.
Geng has openly said to Falun Gong practitioners that every year the rental expenses for the brainwashing center costs the state almost 100,000 yuan.
The 610 Office has established branch offices in each district and county in Qingdao City. Cadres who specialize in persecuting Falun Gong practitioners often came to these offices to learn how to persecute practitioners and Falun Gong.
Geng Shixiang, a 58-year-old male, is the former Associate General Secretary of Qingdao City's North District Political and Judical Committee. His wife, Chen Jing, is a Qingdao City Central Hearing Impairment School retired teacher, and she has negative opinions towards Falun Dafa as well. Since June 10, 1999, Geng has been the Qingdao City's North District 610 Office manager, and he has set up brainwashing centers at the Fushanhou Taoyuan Hotel, Shaoxing Road Militia Training Base, Jiaoliu Hotel, and other places, where he has detained practitioners who hold on to their beliefs. Since July 20, 1999, the Qingdao City's North District has been the district where practitioners are persecuted most severely. He received so much credit for forcing practitioners to renounce their beliefs through persecution that the Qingdao City 610 Office hired him again after he retired in 2001. For the time being, he still often sets up brainwashing sessions at 34 Mingxia Road in Qingdao City and continues to persecute practitioners. As one of the people directly in charge of the city 610 Office, he is directly or indirectly associated with all the illegal cases of sentencing, including sentences to forced labor camps and the detaining of Falun Gong practitioners.
The number of practitioners known to have been persecuted to death in Qingdao City has reached 25. In addition to the 23 deaths already published on the Internet, Wang Lei and Liu Su'e have also died as a result of the persecution. The details in their cases are being confirmed. In Qingdao City alone, over 20 practitioners have been illegally sentenced. Among them, many people received seven-to-ten-year sentences. The number of people who have been detained at the forced labor camp has reached 100, and almost every practitioner in the area has been illegally detained, detained in police custody, or received forced brainwashing. Many of them have been detained and forced to receive brainwashing sessions many times.

(Clearwisdom.net) At about 10 p.m., on November 19, 2004, about a dozen people barged into the home of Zhao Fengxian, a Falun Dafa practitioner in Yanlu Village, Zhuozhou City, Hebei Province.
The group, headed by Zhang Weiqiang, consisted of officers from the Zhuozhou City Police Department of Hebei province. The officers took away 2 computers, 3 cell phones, as well as 3,600 yuan in cash. They handcuffed Ms. Zhao and her daughter, her younger son and his fiancé', and forced them into a van, not giving them time to put on something proper. The only person left behind was Ms Zhao's daughter-in-law, who was in the late stage of pregnancy.
After learning that the daughter-in-law had moved in with Ms Zhao's sister, Zhao Fengqin, for support, the same team of police barged into Zhao Fengqin's house at about 11 p.m. on November 25. On entering the house, one officer dragged Zhao Fengqin's son out of bed and slapped him on the face without saying a word. They then took a computer away and abducted Zhao Fengqin, her husband and their son. The next day, the husband and child were released, but Zhao Fengqin was detained and fined 1,500 yuan for practicing Falun Gong.
After the harassment, Ms Zhao Fengxian's daughter-in-law was in shock. To save the mother and baby, a caesarian was performed. The sister of the mother rushed down immediately from Inner Mongolia to help her out. Four days after the delivery, the mother, her sister and the baby went back to Inner Mongolia .
While at the detention center, Ms Zhao Fengcxian and the other family members arrested were sharing between them one pair of sandals, until her sister, Zhao Fengqin was arrested, when they had more clothes brought in. During the 15 days of detention, Ms Zhao's house was under surveillance all the time. To avoid harassment, Ms Zhao's eldest son decided to stay away from the house. They did not spare him either, as the police imposed a fine of 10,000 yuan on his work unit for having employed someone that was involved with Falun Gong.
From Zhao Fengxian's confiscated cell phone, contact numbers of other Falun Gong practitioners were found, which led to Zhao Tong's house being ransacked, and all the Falun Dafa related materials in the house confiscated. Zhao Tong was not at home at the time, but he was later arrested at work by the police. His whereabouts now are unknown.

1. Electric Shock: Guards Shock Practitioners with High Voltage Electric Batons
In early 2001, at the new comer's brigade, guard Cao shocked 71-year-old practitioner Mr. Song Jiuzhen from Heping District with an electric baton.
On April 25, 2002, practitioners Mr. Li Xiaoyuan (48 years old from Huanggu District) and Mr. Chen Song (32, Huanggu District), Mr. Wang Jinming (45, Tiexi District), Mr. Zhang Zhenwu (37, Dadong District), Mr. Li Manxin (38, from Kangping County) and others resisted the persecution by refusing to wear the jail uniform and do hard labor. Chen Diankun, head of the Zhangshi Forced Labor Camp, ordered the fourth brigade to organize a special group headed by police brigade leader Yang Shu to maltreat these practitioners. They selected over ten criminals (Chai Binxin, Li Bo, Zhang Bin, Wang Weibin, Lin Yongle, Pu Zhenjiang, and others) and ordered Wang Boyu to lead the group. They turned room 401 into a torture room. They openly declared that anyone who entered room 401 would either die or have layers of skin peeled of his/her body.
Yang Shu and other criminals beat Wang Jinming and Li Xiaoyuan and shocked them with 120-watt electric batons. After 4 days of torture, Li and Wang's bodies were swollen and they no longer could walk unassisted. Li Xiaoyuan had to use a special chair when using a bathroom.
On April 30, 2002 at around 10 p.m., the guards cruelly persecuted practitioners. Guard Guan Feng, the camp head assistant shocked practitioner Li Yingjun (31, Huanggu District) with two electric batons, which caused blisters around Li's ear.
In the afternoon on May 3, 2002, guard Song Baishun shocked Wang Shuang's face and mouth and caused many burns, blisters and swelling of the face. Wang Shuang is 34 years old from Dadong District. On May 7, director of the Third Brigade Gao Guangchen, brigade head Wang Yong, group leader Zhang Hongda, and Guanfeng, including several criminals, stripped practitioners Zhang Hongda and Chen Song, handcuffed their hands to their backs, and shocked them with over 20 electric batons for an entire morning. On May 9, practitioner Li Manxin was also shocked.
In the afternoon of August 3, 2002, Song Baishun and brigade head Chen Wei shocked practitioner Zhang Guoyi (46, Liaozhong County) with four electric batons, which resulted in large burns around Zhang's mouth and entire body.

At the end of December 2003, Song Baishun, brigade head Chen Wei, guards Wei Maojin, Teng Fuxun, Fan Guangjin, and Ma Zhigang stripped practitioners Jiao Guolian (47, Yuhong District), Wang Yongli (37, Xinchengzi District), Cai Wenzhang (40, Donglin District), Guo Dianhui (34, Tiexi District), Lu Yuanfeng (52, Yuhong District), Zhu Hongjun (36, Faku District), Wu Chongfeng (34, Xinchengzi District), Wei Changchun (47, Shenhe District), Li Tiekun (about 37) and others in the Zhangshi Small Building. They handcuffed and bound them to the handrails of beds, then simultaneously shocked them around their mouth, armpit, chest and back with four to five electric batons.
In April 2004, guards Chen Diankun, Guan Feng, Zhang Yi, and Shi Fengyou ordered practitioners Mr. Lu Yuanfeng, Mr. Guo Dianhui, Mr.Qi Like (34, Kangping district), Du Anli (45, Heping District), Yang Zhongyou (in her 50s, Dadong District), Liu Pengling (in her 50s, from Liaoyang City) to be shocked with electric batons in the Zhangshi Legal Education School (brainwashing center). This resulted in large burns to their mouths, armpits, chests, thighs, backs, etc. Du Anli's mouth became deformed and swollen after being shocked. Other practitioners who were shocked include Wang Shungeng (Tiexi District) and Zhang Jiaan (from Haicheng City). They were detained at the 2nd brigade.
In Mid-June, 2004, Feng Enqi's (58, Sujiatun District, Shengyang City) face, chest, and ribs were shocked with electric batons. They were at the Zhangshi Brainwashing Center.
2. Sleep Deprivation: No Sleep Allowed for Extended Periods of Time
Almost all determined practitioners suffered this torture in the Zhangshi Forced Labor Camp.
In early 2001, practitioner Du Jiang (32, Dadong District) was forced by the brigade staff to squat down in rooms 3 and 5. This brigade actively persecutes practitioners. Du was not allowed sleep for about 10 days. Practitioner Zhang Guiyi was deprived of sleep for 7 days and nights.
In the Spring of 2002, seventy-two year old Qu Fuyu from Tiexi District was in a close to 20-day brainwashing session. They allowed him to sleep only three to four hours a day.
Between April 31 and the end of May 2002, Mr. Teng Yuguo (in his 50s, Dongling District) was forced to sit on a small stool in room 5. He was not allowed sleep for over 20 days. Criminals took shifts to monitor him.
In July 2002, Dong Yiran (39, Huanggu District) was deprived of sleep for one month and held in room 4 and 7. Ms. Ma Wenping (in her 50s, Tiexi District) was not allowed to sleep for a week. Mr. Wang Liren (49, Dadong District) was deprived of sleep for over ten days.
This torture was hard on practitioners. They all looked worn out and exhausted. Mr. Xu Changguang (in his 60s, Huanggu District) was not allowed to sleep for about one month. He fell off a stool.
3. Beatings: Police and Accomplices Beat Practitioners
In early 2001, practitioner Mr. Luo Hongcai (22, a student from Northeast University) was cruelly beaten. His face was severely swollen.
In August 2001, on the second floor of the Tiexie District Mental Hospital (the location of the brainwashing session), guard Shi Fengyou hit practitioner Mr. Hu Lin's (32, Huanggu District) with a stack of three plates until the plates were broken. His accomplices punched Hu Lin's head, pushed him to the ground, pulled and twisted his body, and kicked his armpits.
In the summer of 2001, over ten thugs, coerced by guards, pushed Mr. Wang Weichuang (23, from Liaozhong County) to the ground. One thug jumped up and used his knees to knock Wang over. Mr. Wang's head hit the concrete floor heavily.
In late October 2002, at the brigade office Song Baishun forced Mr. Cai Wenzhang to squat down, then kicked Cai's face with leather shoes, which caused Cai's eyes to be bruised.
One evening, around December 15, 2002, in the on-duty office, guards Liu Hongtao and others shocked practitioner Du Jiang with an electric baton and beat him for several hours. Du's head to bled profusely and required over ten stitches.
On March 9, 2004, in the "focus group" on the first floor, guard Shi Fengyou kicked practitioner Mr. Jiao Guolian's head. Two of Jiao's front teeth were immediately knocked out and two others fell out a little while later. Jiao's face was bleeding. Section head Guan, in his 30s, witnessed the scene.
4. Food Deprivation
In the new comer's brigade, which is overseen by the Shenyang City Legal Bureau, guards secretly ordered the cell head to starve practitioners. He told them to give practitioners only a small piece of corn bread for each meal and a small bowl of vegetable soup. The so-called left-over bread and soup were tossed into the toilet. The food for those who did not meet their quota was rationed or at times they were deprived of food. Du Jiang, who was detained in the 1st Brigade since winter of 2001 was given only half a piece of small bread for a meal. In May 2001, practitioners Mr. Zhen Shoujun, Mr. Zhang Zhenwu, Mr. Zhang Guoyi, Mr. Li Hongsheng and Mr. Wang Feizhou (a teacher from Liaoning University in Dadong District) were sent to this particular brigade for crueler persecution. Each of them was given small bread only at each meal.
5. Freezing
At the new comer's brigade, practitioners are not allowed blankets in winter. They were allowed to wear only thin clothes and given only a worn-out felt blanket. The fan was kept on all night. Practitioners were shivering and it was difficult to fall asleep.
In winter 2002, Song Baishun locked practitioners Zhang Guiyi, Zhang Zhenwu and Chen Song into room 7, which was a storage room. The temperature in winter was below zero (Celsius). It was about 200 to 300 square meters in circumference. The walls and windows were covered with thick frost on three sides. Practitioners were forced to stand up facing the walls until 2 a.m. Other practitioners detained there include Mr. Li Manxin, Zhang Pai, Lu Yansong, and Liu Yan.
6. Heat Treatment
During the heat of summer, several hundred practitioners are detained in the newcomers' brigade. These practitioners are forced into a "compressed sitting." Practitioners sit with the chest tightly against the back of the next person, and with the eyes looking at the back of the other person's head. They are forced to form a chain. They had to sit like that for 6 to 8 hours, with windows and doors closed. Everyone was soaked in sweat. Even breathing became very hard.
In a room of just around ten square meters (a little more than 100 square feet), 6 bunk-beds are installed. Practitioners who are being brainwashed are forced to sit or squat down. Over ten camp staff members surround and attempt to brainwash them. During the heat of summer, this becomes unbearable. Many practitioners suffered from scabies or eczema.
7. Sitting on Hard Materials for a Long Time
At the newcomers' brigade, room 1 is under strict supervision. Practitioners were forced to get up at 6 a.m. and allowed to sleep not before midnight. When there is work to be finished in room 2 or 3, the sitting may be extended to 2 a.m., 3 a.m. or through the entire night. During holidays, such as May 1 or October 1, practitioners from around the camp were forced to also do "compressed sitting."
In the newcomers' brigade, during brainwashing sessions, when watching videos that slander Falun Gong or reading materials that defame Falun Gong, they were forced to sit on small stools (25x20x17cm) which were made of hard plastic. Sitting on the stools for a long time causes the buttocks to bruise, blister and become infected.
8. Forced Squatting
During brainwashing, practitioners were forced to squat down. Sometimes the squatting was limited to the area of a brick, sometimes Chinese chess pieces were inserted in between the lower leg and thigh to make it more painful. Or they were forced to squat down on a floor full of pins. Evil officers also put Falun Dafa founder's picture on the ground and forced practitioners to step on the picture.
In early 2001, Du Jiang was forced to squat down for about ten days, which caused his feet to swell. He could not wear shoes and could walk only with the support of others. Practitioners Mr. Wang Jinming, Mr. Zhen Shoujun, Mr. Zhang Guoyi and Mr. Yan Hongwei all suffered from having to squat for a long time.
9. Compressed Sitting
1) Chain Sitting
In this style, one's chest is tightly against the back of the person in front of them. The eyes have to focus on the front persons head, and the legs have to be spread apart. They have to sit like this for 6 to 8 hours. To make it more uncomfortable, the guards push against the back of the last person to make the chain tighter. During holidays, guards use this method to force practitioners to inform on each other.
2) Flying Swallow Style
In this method, the first one in the chain bends down with his head and touches a wall. Both legs are apart and the heels are off the ground. The two arms are raised up behind the back. The next one has to sit in a similar position, but his head is between the first one's legs. This position would be maintained for about half an hour until the first one could no longer bear the pain. Since all the weight are on the toes, the first one's head takes the heaviest load. If guards think someone's position is not good enough, they would shock him/her with electric batons or kick him/her. In early March 2001, practitioners Mr. Zhen Shoujun, Mr. Dang Zhiwei, Mr. Wang Jinshu, and Mr. Liu Zhongcai had to sit like that for half an hour.

10. Squeezing
In March 2001, the new comer's brigade detained over a hundred people and no more rooms were available. At night, all people had to sleep tightly against each other sidewise. The cell head would push people to squeeze them tighter. If one went to the bathroom, there would be no room available for him when he came back. Practitioner Mr. Jia Xitai from the Shenhe District was squeezed to the point that he cried and shouted, "I can't breathe."
11. Binding
At about 7:30 a.m. on September 27, 2001, on the 3rd floor of the Zhangshi Small Building, encouraged by guard Cheng Diankun and Shi Fengyou, seven to eight brainwashers forced practitioner Mr. Zhen Shoujun underneath a table. They arranged Zhen's legs in the following manner: four people pushed Zhen's feet into a 30-degree angle. Others pressed Zhen's neck down, bound the neck and torso together. Then they pressed Zhen's back down until it was parallel to the legs. The neck was now in line with the ankles, and they bound the feet and neck together with a sheet. Then they pulled Zhen's arms to his back and bound them together. This torture lasted four hours. After the torture ended, Zhen's feet were swollen and turned to an upward position, so his ankles touched the ground. He could no longer walk unsupported.
In late December 2002, in room 9 on the third floor of the Zhangshi Small Building, guards ordered Guan Feng, Shi Fengyou and four to five thugs to torture practitioner Liu Xianyong. They forced him into the "cross-legged" sitting meditation position and bound his feet together. At the same time, they twisted Liu's arms to his back, bound his hands together, pulled the hands up and tied the rope onto the bedrail. They stuffed Liu's mouth with tape to prevent him from screaming in pain. Such torture lasted for three hours each time, and would repeat 4 to 5 times a day. Liu Xianyong became sick, his feet swelled up and went numb. He could no longer walk without support. Liu Xianyong is 28 years old from Faku County.
Officers also applied this torture to female practitioners. Ms. Xia Wen (brought here after her release from Masanjia Forced Labor Camp), Ms. Zhang Jie (in her 50s, a business investigation officer from Dalian City), Ms. Wu Yanping (in her 40s, Dadong District), Ms. Qi Jinru from Kangping County, and Ms. Li Ailian (in her 30s, from Faku County) also suffered this torture. The 3rd floor has 10 rooms, which were mostly used for brainwashing practitioners. Practitioners' painful screams where heard coming from these rooms, because they were beaten and tortured in there.

12. Keeping Dirty
Guards ordered cell heads to take away practitioners' towels, toothbrushes, etc. They no longer could brush their teeth or wash themselves. Because of the dirt practitioners were afflicted with lice and scabies.
When doing work, the hands became very dirty. But, they were not allowed to wash their hands before eating. Food was stored on the dirty ground. Dishes were washed in the bathroom. Sometimes around October 6, 2001, practitioner Chen Yang (24, from Liaozhong County) had diarrhea for several days.
Brigade leaders ordered brainwashers to not let firm practitioners wash and clean themselves, leaving them dirty all day long. Du Jiang who was sent to the criminal's 1st Brigade in winter 2001 was afflicted with lice and had to shave off his body hair.
13. Limit Toilet Use
In the newcomers' brigade, practitioners were allowed to use the toilet only three times a day. Practitioners had to work or sit on stools all day long. Firm practitioners have only limited access to the toilet. Officers even declared: "How could you use the toilet if you do not give up Falun Gong?"
14. Reciting Humiliating Words
In early 2001, guards ordered 10 hatchet men to torture practitioner Mr. Liu Jianguang (53, Huanggu District). He had to squat down while wearing a tall sharp paper hat. Hatchet men shouted words defaming Falun Dafa into Liu's ears through paper loudspeakers, and humiliated Liu by combing his eyebrows and beard.
Whenever a practitioner gave up under cruel torture, guards would force other practitioners to line up and sing a "congratulations" song.
Group leaders forced practitioners to salute the cell head before talking, and announce themselves when entering a room. Before eating or sleeping, they forced practitioners to shout words like "be reformed quickly, be a new person again," and recite the detainees' rules. If practitioners did not cooperate, they would be shocked with electric batons or brutally beaten up.
15. Extorting Money
Practitioners detained at the Zhangshi Forced Labor Camp brainwashing center were forced to pay 3,000 yuan for a 20-day brainwashing class. If a practitioner did not renounce Falun Gong, he would be forced to attend a second term and pay another 3,000 yuan. Some relatives of practitioners tried to bribe guard Shi Fengyou with money or gifts, in the hope that Shi would treat their relatives better. Shi accepted the money and gifts, but continued to torture the practitioners brutally.
Practitioners who went on hunger strikes were force-fed cruelly. They were fed heavily salted corn porridge. They were forced to pay 50 to 100 yuan for each force-feeding. Some practitioners' families or employers sent money to bribe the guards. They hoped that the practitioner would be released ahead of time. But, the guards pocketed the money without doing anything. The camp also asked 3,000-yuan when they released practitioners. Others stole some of the food, daily items, and clothes that were sent by family members, but group leaders totally ignored this.
Group leaders not only extort money, but also use criminal detainees as slave labors. Detainees cook food, clean houses, iron clothes, or even do massages for group leaders.

16. Stealing
Prison management in the newcomers' brigade turned their eyes when guards and criminals stole practitioners' clothes, shoes or other items. Some practitioners went barefoot because all their belongings were stolen. In April 2004, practitioner Mr. Chen Song was detained at the second brigade with criminal detainees. He went on a hunger strike. Criminal detainees stole all his belongings.
17. Forcing to Write Detailed Reports
The Zhangshi Forced Labor Camp held many brainwashing sessions.
1) Re-education: new practitioners, were surrounded by a group of brainwashers and bombarded with brainwashing information. If he/she would still remain firm after about one week, guards would begin to punish him/her. They did not allow practitioners to sleep, forced them to squat and pushed their heads against a wall. If the practitioner remained firm, he/she would be tortured. Guards would shock practitioners with electric batons or torture them by any conceivable method. If one could no longer bear the pain, he/she would be forced to write the so-called four-letters (severance with Falun Gong, expressing regret for having practiced Falun Gong, exposing others), and accede to whatever guards asked of them.
2) Reinforced Brainwashing: Practitioners were brainwashed in groups. During the daytime, officers forced them to read or listen to materials, which defame or slander Falun Dafa and had them watch similar videos. At night they had to write so-called "thought reports." Brainwashers would check the reports. If the report was not to their liking, it had to be rewritten. Otherwise the practitioner would be more intensely brainwashed. Whenever CCTV or local TV stations were going to broadcast programs to slander Falun Dafa, the camp would be informed in advance. Practitioners were forced to watch theses programs and write reflective reports afterwards.
3) Advanced Brainwashing: After about one month of reinforcement, guards or brainwashers grouped those who they thought to be "a brainwashing success" and sent them to the "advanced session" for further brainwashing. During these brainwashing sessions the material was even more coarse and vulgar in its slander of Falun Gong. They then had to write monthly reports.
4) Forced to Brainwash Other Practitioners: After completing the "advanced brainwashing," the brainwashed practitioners were forced to brainwash other determined practitioners.
Practitioners who have written materials to defame Falun Dafa or who have informed on others feel very remorseful most of the time. They do not want to do this, but cannot continue to bear the high pressure, torture and associated pains. They give in. After being released, some of them feel sick whenever they hear the background music of CCTV's "Talks On Focus Points (Jiao-Dian-Fang-Tan)."
18. Hard Labor
From 2000 to this day, determined practitioners were forced into hard labor, as were the criminal detainees. Work includes: making boxes, wrapping chopsticks, making handicrafts such as plastic cucumbers and sweet potatoes, cutting grass, and planting flowers and vegetables. Some practitioners have made funeral products for export to Japan and South Korea in the newcomers' brigade. Everyone has to work overtime.

They produce chopsticks, toothpicks and other items. The right building was the 6th criminal brigade. They produced braided steel wire nets. Now this building houses the 4th brigade, and they produce plastic balls.
Daily work includes wrapping chopsticks (wooden or bamboo). Local restaurants and hotels in the Shenyang City use them.
The workplace is very dirty. To produce more, the camp management requires detainees with diseases to work. Even disabled or seriously sick criminals had to work. In 2001, one of the criminal detainee's in the third brigade was so overworked that he died one late night in a corridor while wrapping chopsticks.
One or two criminal detainees are generally assigned to tightly monitor a practitioner. Each day one practitioner has to finish 80 bags (one small bag contains 70 pairs of chopsticks, one large bag contains 12 small bags) of chopsticks. If one does not meet the quota, one would receive punishment, which might mean a beating. It is rumored that practitioner Du Anli resisted the persecution. He did the Falun Gong exercises in the workshop. Therefore, he was shocked by guards with electric batons.

"Inserting pins into a rubber pad" to make a comb. The Zhangshi Forced Labor Camp is the hidden production source for the Haiwei Decoration Product Company in Shenyang. They produce large quantities of combs for export to Japan, the US and European countries. Haiwei supplies materials and the final assembly. Zhangshi Camp produces the head of the comb and the shipment materials. Each practitioner is forced to finish 400 to 600 rubber pads or even more. The comb pins are made of hard plastics. Inserting pins for a long time hurts the hand, is very painful and one gets blisters.

Every practitioner has to assemble 3,000 to 5,000 daily. The glues are poisonous and very irritating to nose and eyes. To produce more, practitioners are forced to work right after breakfast, and without a lunch break.
On April 25, 2002, to resist the inhuman persecution and slave labor, practitioners Mr. Li Xiaoyuan, Mr. Wang Jinming, Mr. Zhang Zhenwu, Mr. Chen Song, and Mr. Li Manxin refused to wear jail uniforms or perform slave labor. They were cruelly tortured. The first three were transferred to Guanshan Forced Labor Camp in Changtu. On November 9, 2003, Mr. Li Xiaoyuan was tortured to death in Guanshan Forced Labor Camp.
Practitioner Zhang Guoyi and Mr. Fan Xichen (detained in the 6th brigade during late August 2002 to late January 2004) were forced to work every day, and often until midnight. The building now is the workshop for the 4th brigade. They produce plastic balls, and the room is full of irritating smells.
February 8, 2005
(Clearwisdom.net) Officers from the State Security Subunit in the Changping District of Beijing have often shown up at the homes or work units of Falun Gong. Without showing any legal documents, they would first abduct the practitioners and then conduct searches. Falun gong students thus abducted have been sent to the brainwashing center run by the Changping 610 Office. They have, throughout the day, been forced to watch fabricated news reports that slander Falun Gong and its founder. If anyone refuses to watch, security guards would surround and hold him or her down. Some work units have been asked to send in dedicated personnel to watch their abducted employees around the clock.
In the brainwashing center, officials have placed numerous Buddhism books, instruments, brochures and songs to force practitioners to change their belief. The officials have claimed that almost all those "transformed" have turned to believing in Buddhism.
Li Gang, Cheng Liawei, and Hai Long are among the Changping District State Security Subunit officers who are directly engaged in the persecution. They coerce Falun Gong students to write critiques and statements renouncing Falun Gong. All such articles have to follow an official guideline. Otherwise the student would be considered stubborn and having the wrong attitude. The officials have lied to the students that if they followed these instructions, they would soon be released. In fact, these materials have been gathered as "evidence" to be used for sending the Falun Gong students first to the detention center, where the Procuratorate would turn a deaf ear to their appeals. The statements and other documents written and signed have been used as evidence in sentencing them to prison.
We strongly appeal to the international community to pay attention to the unlawful acts by officers at Changping District State Security Subunit in Beijing, to investigate the officers Liu Gang, Cheng Laiwei, Hai Long and others who are primarily responsible for the crime, and to demand the unconditional release of Falun Gong students who have been sentenced to prison in violation of the law.

(Clearwisdom.net) The drawing below is an illustration of the so-called "Pai Lou" (meaning a decorated archway) at Jiutai Forced Labor Institute in Jilin Province. The "Pai Lou" was built on the second floor of the Discipline Department in the men's section of the labor camp. It is also called the "forbidden cell." Many Falun Gong practitioners have been tortured in this iron cage. The detained practitioners have to eat, sleep and relieve themselves all in one small cell.
In this drawing, the large cage is divided into five smaller cells. Each cell is 0.9 meter wide and 1.7 meters long, and each will contain four practitioners. There are also handcuffs in the cell to further restrain practitioners.

However, for some reason, sometimes they even pushed me out of the door with a lot of nonsense such as "The Communist Party pays my salary... even the 8 million army of Kuomintang was defeated by the Communist Party...etc."
Why was it so? I sent forth righteous thoughts to eliminate evil interference at the time, but I could not find the fundamental reason behind it. I knew that some of these people were very timid normally and would not do these things. When I was doing Dafa work, the evil beings would interfere with me using the emotional attachment for family. Because of this I was persecuted and I made a big mistake, which caused huge losses to Dafa. After reading the article "Further Purify Ourselves and Eliminate All Microscopic Elements of the Communist Party's Spirit Possession," I suddenly understood why some things happened the way they did.
Next, I would like to share my understandings related to my own experiences. If there is anything improper, please kindly point it out.
My uncle had been working in the education system for many years and was retired. He is honest and good-hearted. He is in his 70s. When we clarified the truth to him, he would not say anything, fearing that it would hurt our feelings. I knew he was knowledgeable about many things, so I asked him, "What is the purpose of being a human being?" He replied without a second thought, "For revolution." At that time, I thought his answer was so ridiculous that I did not give it much thought. I did not realize that he was influenced by the evil and failed to send forth righteous thoughts targeting the evil influence. It was not until recently that I realized what I should do. I asked my uncle again, "You are already in your 70s, this is an electronic age, so against whom are you revolting?" He was speechless.
From the above, one can imagine how deep the influence the evil spirit of the CCP has over the people with its theory of fighting with heaven, earth and man. As an intellectual who has been in the education system for years, he should know that a teacher's responsibility is imparting knowledge. Without knowing for himself what humans live for, how could one do a good job of teaching children? Of course, I am very fortunate to have obtained Dafa, so I know the real purpose of being a human being is to return to one's true self.
One of my colleagues is a CCP member. When I told him about the beauty of Dafa and the facts about the persecution, he could understand some of them and even agreed with me. However, as soon as I began to expose the evil nature of the CCP and its origins, he behaved as if one of his sore spots was touched. His tone of voice and facial expressions all changed and said, "You are getting political!" I explained to him that we were not involved in politics, but merely exposing the evil nature of the CCP, exposing its crimes in persecuting Dafa, Dafa practitioners as well as the general populace. I told him that the Constitution stipulates that Chinese citizens over 18 years of age have the right to vote and the right to be elected and this applies to the election of officials at all levels, from the state government to provincial and municipal governments and to city and county governments. I asked him, "Which one of the national leaders of China was elected? Which governor, mayor or county executive was elected? Who have you voted for? As a citizen, you have never been given a chance to participate in politics at all. It is only a mere scrap of paper stating that you have this right, it is the biggest lie."
Upon hearing this, he seemed to think hard. He murmured while walking, "That's right, I'm in my 50s, I have never participated in a single election or cast a single vote. What political rights have I got?" When do Chinese people have political rights? The time that we hear it most is when someone is sentenced to a jail term or sentenced to death, the verdict would mention, "deprive so and so of lifetime political rights or deprive so and so of political rights for so and so many years." People have been cheated so badly, and we must help them clear the obstacle created by this kind of conventional thinking so as to let them understand the beauty of Dafa and the evilness of the persecution.
There is another phenomenon. People who are poisoned by the CCP's brainwashing education would often think that we are "getting political." Some fellow practitioners fail to recognize the evil nature of the CCP and their minds are also poisoned without knowing it, and they have also affected others. The phenomenon of sickness karma and trouble in validating Dafa lately, in my humble understanding, are results of dark minions, rotten demons and evil spirits working together. I would like to warn my fellow practitioners to be alert and upgrade our understandings without delay.
Last autumn I went back to my hometown. While clearing out old books, I found a book that was a collection of quotes from CCP leaders. I was going to destroy it. To my surprise, my parents were strongly against it, "We have to keep this! We may need it in the future!" There was a terrible row, "You are not our son, and we are not your parents! We disown you!" My parents are both practitioners. How could this be happening? They did not sound like practitioners. It was all because my mother is a CCP member.
I began to send forth righteous thoughts to eliminate the evil factors behind them, but I did not clear them completely. Maybe the evil spirit was thinking, "Even you were brought up under the CCP system. Your thoughts and dimensional field are contaminated. You have not realized it yourself, and now you want to eliminate me in others!" Later on, the matter got worse and worse. It turned out the evil spirit had held on to my weakness of being an "obedient" child. All the education at home and school were to follow the CCP: you must listen to the Party when you are little, listen to the organization when you are grown up, and you must obey superiors' orders, etc. My kindheartedness and honesty were taken advantage of by them without my knowing it. I did not detect it until I was illegally detained and made a big mistake. I did not recognize its evil nature clearly, until I read the article "Thoughts on 'Further Purify Ourselves and Eliminate All Microscopic Elements of the Communist Party's Spirit Possession.'"
Only after Dafa practitioners clearly recognize the nature of the communist spirit can we be free from its interference, and do the three things well that Fa-rectification period Dafa disciples are supposed to do, especially saving sentient beings.

(Clearwisdom.net) The day before yesterday, a fellow practitioner handed me 100 yuan and said, "A fellow practitioner in the countryside raised 150 yuan by recycling her own hair. She was thinking about using it all to produce truth-clarifying materials. Her elder sister said, "New Year's Day is approaching. Your family is living on a shoestring. Your child is in school, and your husband is ill. You should leave 50 yuan to purchase some clothes for your child."
When I took this 100 yuan in my hand, I felt like I was holding a glittering heart. My eyes were wet. What a great Falun Dafa practitioner! How precious is her heart! To offer salvation to sentient beings is our sacred duty. However, a country woman, who has no income, uses her own hair to help save people in the world. Her dedication surely will be felt by the gods.
In history, when Sakyamuni was teaching the Dharma, there was an elderly woman who did not have a penny. She exchanged a small oil lamp for her hair, which was most sacred in those days. She carried this lamp to listen to the Dharma taught by Sakyamuni. Wicked, strong winds extinguished the lamps of all the other people. People stood up and started looking around in panic. Only this elderly woman knelt on the ground and did not budge while listening to the Dharma taught by the Buddha. And only her lamp stayed lit. That was a genuine heart! Isn't this the compassion and benevolence that Master wants?
However, I have an income of 400 yuan each month. And it has never occurred to me to spend some of it to save sentient beings. I am indeed too selfish and too self-centered. Time waits for nobody. Let me think less of myself and seize every opportunity in saving worldly people.

(Clearwisdom.net) As Fa rectification advances at full speed, the overall requirements for practitioners and the cultivation environments have become more demanding.
The following are our experiences in coordinating the rescue of fellow practitioners who were being sent to forced labor camps. These efforts required our local practitioners to work as one body, validate the Fa with rationality in order to save sentient beings, and wisely clarify the truth of Falun Dafa to people face to face. I am recording the process as a reference for other practitioners.
In December 2004, two of our local practitioners were suddenly arrested. Several of us shared our understandings via telephone. We also notified every practitioner we could and asked him or her to send forth righteous thoughts. We enlightened to the realization that this situation was not a case of ordinary people persecuting other people, but rather, it was the evil forces using ordinary people to persecute Dafa. It was the evil manipulating people to prevent us from saving sentient beings so that the evil forces could destroy them. As genuine practitioners, we couldn't allow that to happen. We therefore took immediate steps to rescue our fellow practitioners.
1. We wrote a letter in the form of a petition to expose the persecution. It explained how one of these practitioners had become a better person after practicing Falun Dafa. The article listed examples of how this practitioner was well known locally for doing good deeds for others and for his diligent work at his job. It also explained how he had dedicated his life to the people and the region. In its conclusion, the petition stated that the people of our region strongly request that this Falun Dafa practitioner be released. After reading the letter, ordinary people agreed that the report was truthful, and without hesitating, they signed their names to the petition. This letter attested to the fact that our fellow practitioner was a good person, who clarified the truth to those around him and in his workplace. It also gave people the opportunity to establish their own future positions.
2. We clarified the truth to the family members of practitioners, so they would know that their loved ones did nothing wrong and did not break the law. We also asked them to coordinate with us in our rescue efforts. We told them what Master had said,
"Some people have family members who have been imprisoned in the persecution and are being persecuted, and yet instead of hurrying up and working along with everyone else to resist the persecution, stop the persecution, and lessen the persecution of your family members, you're talking about things like 'studying the Fa at home' and you're still full of complaints about everything that [Dafa] students are doing. Did you know that when the persecution of your family members who have been imprisoned is lessened or stopped, it's the result of Dafa disciples exposing and shocking the evil beings while braving evil and danger to take action against the persecution? When they get out, how will you bear to face them? What have you done for them?" (From "My Version of a 'Stick Wake-up'")
Because we clarified the truth to them, most of the family members of the detained practitioners accepted what we said, although a few did not.
3. We clarified the truth face to face with those responsible, and exposed the evil in the process of submitting our petitions. Practitioners took turns visiting government offices along with the family members of the arrested practitioners. We visited city and county government offices, including the Superintendents' Offices, Political Offices, Administrative Offices, 610 Offices, and National Security Units to clarify the truth to them, and we firmly asked the government to unconditionally release the Dafa practitioners.
4. We coordinated our efforts and improved together. We sent forth righteous thoughts at home, clarified the truth to people in the streets, and looked for the perpetrators of the persecution in their offices. When some of our fellow practitioners failed to step out of their homes, we studied the article, "Serious Teachings" from Clearwisdom.net with them. In the article, Master said,
"Why does a person study Dafa? Those people only want to gain from Dafa, and they regard Dafa as a protective shield. While Dafa encounters persecution, while disciples are being arrested, persecuted, and beaten to death for protecting Dafa, what are they doing? While their Master is being slandered, what are they doing? Are they waiting for something good to just fall from the sky? Are they waiting to reach Consummation once the tribulation ends? I'm really worried for them. They have no idea how dangerous the situation is for their true beings!"
"In the midst of the Fa-rectification, a god's single thought about Dafa determines his existence or destruction. Can those who've obtained Dafa regard things as everyday people do? If a person has obtained the Fa but isn't able to validate the Fa, does he still deserve to be a Dafa disciple? No matter how he 'persists in studying the Fa and doing the exercises' at home, he is being controlled by demons and is 'enlightening' along an evil path."
As a result, those practitioners who had the attachment of fear were able to break through this attachment and go to the government offices with us. Even though they didn't speak, they sent forth righteous thoughts to eliminate the evil in other dimensions.
5. In the process of rescuing our fellow practitioners, the righteous thoughts of Falun Dafa practitioners fully displayed their effect.
One practitioner always burned incense in front of Master's picture and sent forth righteous thoughts, asking Master to strengthen him before he went to the government offices. He also asked Master to develop his supernormal ability of telepathy. He would use it to penetrate to the most microcosmic level of the minds of those officials, telling them, "There will be retribution for persecuting Dafa disciples, and one can only gain the future by repenting for their misdeeds." Several times when he clarified the truth to the officials in charge using his supernormal ability, the official and his subordinates were dumbstruck and unable to argue with him. Eventually, they would agree to unconditionally release the Dafa practitioners. In this way, we were able to expose the evil, clarify the facts, and save sentient beings all at the same time. The two practitioners were released after being detained for 11 and 14 days respectively. Our actions also shocked the evil.
6. In our righteous thoughts and actions, we can't depend on ordinary people. Moreover, we can't be moved by peoples' emotions. When we set out to rescue the first practitioner, we were actually deterred for a few days. If we hadn't enlightened to this fact, it is hard to say what the consequences would have been. On the fifth day after we began our rescue efforts, this practitioner's family called us and asked us to stop what we were doing, saying that we would be responsible if something bad happened to that practitioner. So we stopped what we were doing, and this practitioner's family took matters into their own hands. They tried to invite the perpetrators for dinner and gave them presents, but the perpetrators found excuses to delay them. After a few days, several practitioners got together and shared their understandings. We realized that the evil was using ordinary people to impede our rescue efforts, and that it would be very dangerous to allow them to continue to interfere with us. We decided that we could neither depend on ordinary people nor be influenced by them. We decided to make our move, we stated that we would stay in the authorities' office until our demands were met. As a result, the officials were frightened and agreed to immediately release the practitioner.
The following is the dialogue between the government officials and us:
A practitioner went to the County Communist Party secretary's office with a family member of the arrested practitioner.
The secretary asked us, "What are you doing here?"
"We are here to see the Party secretary," replied the practitioner.
"What do you want?" he asked again.
"It is regarding a very important matter."
"You cannot see him."
"Why can't we see him? We are the people, and it's his job to serve the people. We must see him." The practitioner walked toward the office as he was speaking. The secretary blocked his path and pushed the practitioner out of the office. The practitioner spoke loudly, saying, "You want to hit me, don't you? You are a servant of people, but you push the people out. Aren't you an official of the people? You must have bought your official title instead of being elected, otherwise you would welcome people's visits, instead of pushing people out." Upon hearing that, the secretary's attitude immediately changed for the better. He agreed to pass our petitions on to the Party secretary.
After our successful first step, we went to look for the secretary of the Political and Judiciary Committee. He was not in his office, so we went to the 610 Office. Right after we walked into the 610 Office, the secretary of the Political and Judiciary Committee came in. A practitioner said to him, "We were just looking for you."
"What do you want then?" asked the secretary.
"One of the Falun Gong practitioners we know was illegally detained. He is a good person. We strongly request that he be released. Please take a look at all these signatures and seals from the people." replied the practitioner.
"Why do you keep practicing it [Falun Gong] when it is banned by the government?"
"We don't care if the government has banned it. We only know there is no mention of Falun Gong in the Chinese Constitution, let alone provisions for banning it. A few officials in the government and certain government agencies cannot represent the Constitution. We don't acknowledge them. We only follow the law and strive to be good people."
For a moment the secretary was speechless. Finally he said, "So according to you, we wrongly arrested him?"
"Yes, it was wrong to arrest him." replied the practitioner.
"I am only following legal procedures, arresting those who need to be arrested and sentencing those who need to be sentenced. There is no changing this, no matter what you say."
The practitioner answered, "It is good to hear that you are following legal procedures. We believe you are bound by law to investigate and punish those who break the law. When I was detained at the detention center, I was beaten by [name of the person] so badly that I was covered with bruises. For a week, I couldn't take care of myself. I had to be fed by my fellow practitioners. Many people were beaten until their flesh was torn with gaping wounds. You know that those perpetrators broke the law, why don't you punish them? Someone was detained for hand-copying a couple of Falun Gong articles for others to read. They didn't hurt anyone or cause damage to society, but they were sentenced to one year in prison. According to which law was that done? There are countless examples like that. You know that you are punishing people illegally, why don't you follow the law in these cases? There are people nowadays hurting others by giving out usurious loans, gathering people to gamble, stealing, and robbing others. Why don't you follow the law in those cases? Instead, you put us, the good people, and those who want to be better people, into prison and let criminals and thugs remain at large. Is this what you call 'following the law'?"
The secretary said, "[As practitioners] you are learning "Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance;" why don't you just forbear it [the persecution]?"
"We are practicing Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance, but Forbearance doesn't mean we shouldn't insist on the truth, and it doesn't mean that we are afraid. You mistake our tolerance for fear. You have put so many practitioners into prisons and forced labor camps. Some of them have died from the persecution. You have mistaken our compassion for fear. You couldn't be more wrong."
Then a practitioner recited for them Teacher's article, "Beyond the Limits of Forbearance," adding, "If you didn't persecute us, we wouldn't be telling you this, but you are persecuting us, so we must expose your actions to show everyone just who is breaking the law." Upon hearing this, the secretary of the Political and Judiciary Committee was rendered speechless. His subordinates were all staring, tongue-tied. Their attitude eased up a bit.
Another practitioner calmly said to them, "You people have exhausted all means to carry on with the persecution. After wasting so much money and resources, you have detained practitioners, sent them to prison, beat them and used the most vicious and despicable methods in your treatment of these kindhearted people. In the end, all your efforts are in vain. Remember [names a practitioner] at the labor camp? He was said to be the most successfully "transformed". He even helped the police to transform other practitioners, but as soon as he returned home from the labor camp, he realized that he was wrong. He immediately declared that everything he had done for you was void. He is now steadfastly cultivating Falun Dafa. Haven't your efforts been a waste? Our teacher clearly stated in his article, "Coercion Cannot Change People's Hearts," that
"The evil has utilized the power in bad people's hands to create turmoil for nearly two years, using the most base actions ever in human history--whether ancient or modern, Chinese or foreign--and employing all the most malicious means to persecute Dafa and its cultivators. Its aim is to use coercive measures to change Dafa cultivators' hearts and have them give up their cultivation practice. This is futile. Never in history has someone who persecuted those with upright faiths ever succeeded."
With justice on our side, we clarified the truth to the officials without fear. The officials were speechless and eventually agreed to release the detained practitioner.
The following is a dialogue between the family member of another detained practitioner and the director of the local 610 Office.
The director asked, "What are you doing here again?"
"We are here to request that my family member be released. Everyone knows he is a good person no matter where he is. There is no reason for you to put a person whom everyone believes to be a good person in prison," answered the family member.
"Do you know there is enough evidence in your home to sentence him to three years in prison? We found so many Falun Gong materials, VCDs, tapes and books."
The family member said, "How can they be counted as evidence against our family member? They are the truth about Falun Gong. All they contain are the true stories about how the government is persecuting good people. How can it be that you are allowed to persecute people, and people are not allowed to speak up about the truth? Is it really true that only the officials can start a fire, but no peasant is allowed to light a candle? How can it be against the law to tell people the truth and the facts about the persecution? Regarding those books and audiotapes; as practitioners, we need books to study. When you work, you need a desk, and you also need to read documents. Can you really say that reading books and listening to tapes is against the law? There are people out there right now promoting illegal gambling and lotteries. Why don't you do something about that? There are also officials who knowingly break the law, deceiving their supervisors and deluding their subordinates in a completely lawless way. Why don't you arrest them? Are you colluding with and covering up for them? If you won't release my family member, then I am asking you to be fair and arrest everyone who has broken the law in our county. If you won't, we will ask the provincial and central governments to send people to investigate all of our officials, then we will see just who is breaking the law here."
The 610 Office and the county officials were terrified and agreed to release the detained practitioner that very day. Because we had firm faith in Teacher and the Fa, we believed that our rescue efforts would be successful.
The author wishes to encourage more experience sharing from others, using this article as an example, so that we can rescue all of the detained practitioners in a short period of time. Let us form one body and save more sentient beings before the Fa rectifies the human world.

When I was a child, I wondered, "Where did life come from?" and "Where will I go when I die?" I thought about it over and over, but such questions were difficult to answer. When I was older and able to read a broad range of things, I tried to find answers from books. However, what I got from those famous and wise people were only things like "life is like a dream" and "I will continue to search for the answer." Those books seemed to reflect a passive attitude about death, and the authors seemed to have the same sense of loss as mine. Rather than helping me understand what life was all about, the ideas made me afraid. I was afraid that I would still be lost when I died. Until one day, that is, when I learned about Falun Dafa. Astonishing changes then took place, and everything turned around. Once I began practicing, my life became full of surprises.
However, after truly entering the door of cultivation, all kinds of tests came my way. These tests served to get rid of my sins and to improve my character. Falling and standing up, I embarked on the path home like a child learning to walk.
Due to my not-so-diligent Fa study, my mother and I had gotten lost amidst the widespread lies during the period immediately following July 20, 1999, when the widespread persecution of Falun Gong began. This continued until the winter of 2001, when we came into contact with fellow practitioners and were able to read some of the newer articles, such as "Towards Consummation." Since there were few copies of these articles available at that time, I could only borrow a copy for a few days. I spent those days and nights copying the articles by hand, so that I could gain a deeper understanding.
By the summer of 2003, there were enough copies so that everyone could have one. I thought, finally, I do not need to copy them. However, the following two days, I had a feeling that was so bad that it could not have been worse. On the third day, when I finished copying, the bad feeling disappeared. I understood that Master allowed me to catch up by copying as I had wasted too much time before. Now, copying has become a part of my cultivation, and I always find joy in it. Because of this, when relatives shouted at me in public in fear of their self interest being damaged, or when fellow practitioners became irritated at me, I could face them calmly and with a smile. My thinking became wise and cool, and I understood that the true forbearance of a practitioner is not to have any anger, hatred, or feeling of being misunderstood at all.
Minghui Weekly mentioned several times in 2003 about the importance of reciting the Fa. I made up my mind to do it too. However, I felt it was too slow and time consuming after reciting only a small part of it, and felt that I'd rather read it straight through. However, when I was reading, I regretted not reciting. After several rounds, I told myself that even if the Fa-rectification were to end tomorrow, I should recite as much as possible today. Thereafter, every time I recited, I always felt that I had really stepped into the door of cultivation, as if waking from a dream.
Because I was eager to get to know more practitioners and to improve myself faster, Master arranged for me to find a learning center during the Spring Festival of 2004. Suddenly in contact with so many practitioners, in the pure practicing area, excitement and happiness made me forget who I was, which caused complaints from my fellow practitioners. Hearing their sincere advice, I adjusted my relationships with fellow practitioners and acted more properly.
When Hong Yin (II) was published, some practitioners understood that the words "bodies are imprisoned" referred to those practitioners in labor camps. Later, some other practitioners understood those words as meaning that the environment the mainland practitioners are in is like a prison.
My personal understanding is, when we lag behind in cultivation due to our own laziness, when our determination is attacked, and when we can't demonstrate the character of practitioners, what is the difference between us and those in the labor camps? They are forced, whereas we surrender to the evil willingly. Our jail is intangible. The jail is not built up by others, but by our laziness, sins, ideas formed after birth, and evil factors that have been waiting for opportunities. When we hold firmly to ordinary comfort and happiness, and when we tell fellow practitioners that the objective reasons are weak in-born quality and enlightenment quality, who is going to be happy and who is going to be upset? The old forces will be happy. The evil sees that and finds hope in our lack of persistence and in our weakness. When we are angry toward other peoples' weaknesses and lack of persistence, we forget completely that our own behavior is not like that of a practitioner. We are supposed to completely negate the old forces, and not even acknowledge their existence, but in our minds and consciousness, we unknowingly leave room for degenerated notions to grow and for incorrect behavior to remain.
Master says in the Lecture on the Fa at the U.S. Midwest Conference,
"As long as there is no one interfering with your practice, all sentient beings in the heavens and on Earth can be saved." (provisional translation subject to improvement).
My understanding of this now is that all of the interference comes from within oneself, and one sets himself up a "jail" with his own heart.
Today, we have come to see clearly our weaknesses, shortcomings, and many attachments. The improvement of my fellow practitioners around me and the beauty of when they get rid of their lack of persistence encourage me to be diligent myself. Even if I am the worst, I won't feel upset because of this. All the disadvantages and defects will be erased. Because we are in the Fa, and because we are being uplifted by Master, everything negative and bad will become good, right and pure. In such a dirty and complicated world, we will be uplifted to an unprecedented beautiful, new universe by Master. How can human language be enough to describe and praise this wonderful future?
To be worthy of the title "Fa-rectification disciple," to face up to the great historical responsibilities granted by Master, I think we need to do the three things well, and everything is included in the three things. We should save as many sentient beings as possible before the arrival of the Fa-rectification of the human world.
I felt the seriousness and holiness of cultivation before, and now I feel the happiness and joy of it. Time and again when I overcame my old self, it had been an impossible feat. When the lack of persistence and notions were erased, I felt the greatness of cultivation. Bathed in the compassion of Dafa, I feel like a beam of the light - tiny - but having a true existence.
Someone once said that cultivation is like a song, beautiful and moving. I think it is more than that - it is a poem, beautiful like mountains and rivers; like splendid music, allowing people to feel heaven in its harmony; like a painting, making people feel the breathtaking colors in every detail; like a delicate dance, making people feel indescribable joy in every action.
I have too many feelings to describe one by one. During the process of Fa-rectification, the little things that my fellow practitioners do help me understand what it means to be truly great - the simplicity and ordinariness of their actions help me everyday.
(This is an experience sharing article for the first cultivation experience sharing among Falun Dafa practitioners in Mainland China)
(Clearwisdom.net) I have often read the stories of overseas practitioners validating Dafa. I find them quite touching. Under Master's compassionate arrangement, I was able to travel to Australia. Only during this trip did I truly understand Master's teaching in "Teaching the Fa at the 2003 Midwest-U.S. Fa Conference,"
"When Dafa disciples validate the Fa, it doesn't matter which country or region you're in, or which ethnic group you belong to--there are no such distinctions among Dafa disciples. You're all one body."
The trip went smoothly and I met some Chinese people. As I don't speak English, they helped me with all sorts of paperwork throughout the trip. Some of them had not even heard about Falun Gong, so I took the chance to clarify the truth to them. On the afternoon when I arrived in Australia, my landlord asked me where I had planned to go for sightseeing during my three-month stay in Australia. I told him that I did not intend to go anywhere, but to find fellow Falun Gong practitioners in Australia. Though he did not understand, he was very moved, and on that afternoon he helped me search for the local volunteer contact person on the internet. Soon I got in touch with the local practitioners and started my path of Fa rectification in Australia.
During the days when I was clarifying the truth in Australia, I had some extraordinary experiences, and also gained a lot of understanding about cultivation. All these have strengthened my confidence in cultivation and in closely following Master to assist the Fa rectification.
As I don't speak English, nor did I know my way around, at the beginning it was difficult for me to go out to clarify the truth. However, my righteous thoughts in wanting to assist Master in the Fa rectification were firm, and a practitioner's righteous thoughts can change the environment. Initially, the local practitioners suggested that I distribute truth-clarifying newspapers since I did not speak English. I carried a big bag full of newspapers on my back, and looked for mailboxes while walking along the street. However I did not find any mailboxes. The bag was heavy and my shoe was broken. I anxiously sat by the street and almost cried. I could not even find my way home. I pleaded with Master: Master, could you help me! Then I raised my head and suddenly saw the mailboxes all over a wall. Actually, in Australia mailboxes are set inside the wall. I was so happy. After I finished distributing the newspapers, I also found my way home. When I arrived back home, the landlord said to me, "You don't speak English, nor do you know the way, but you were able to find the way back after going out for such a long time, it is amazing!"
My landlord and fellow practitioners gave me a lot of help. They drove me to various places to practice the exercises, study the Fa and clarify the truth. Sometimes when they were too busy, I let go of my fear of not speaking English or not knowing the way. I reminded myself, there is Master, and there is the Fa, so there is nothing to fear. I took the bus by myself to participate in the activities. During the three months when I was in Australia, I did not intentionally go anywhere for sightseeing, but I've been to many places in Sydney for truth clarification.
Once I was going to Canberra, Australia's capital city. A fellow practitioner had promised to drive me there, and we had made an appointment to meet. The place where I lived was far from the city where we were to me, and would take about 40-50 minutes by bus. That day the landlord did not have time to take me to the city, so I had to go by bus on my own. I had never met this fellow practitioner before, further he was a westerner. The night before I said to Master in my heart, "Master, could you please help me tomorrow. Give me some wisdom and help me find that fellow practitioner."
The next morning when I was about to leave, I said to my daughter before going to the bus stop, "If the bus driver is a westerner, what shall I do? I don't know where to get off." My daughter said to me, "I'll tell the driver to remind you, don't worry." The bus came and the door opened. My daughter was astonished and said, "It's amazing!" Actually, the driver was a Chinese, though there are few Chinese bus drivers here. I said to my daughter, "This is just the mighty power of Dafa!" That driver was very warm-hearted, and I told him about the persecution in China.
When I got to the city, I stood at the bus stop and waited for a while. I was a bit worried, and thought, if the fellow practitioner came, how would I distinguish him among the crowd? Then the miracle happened. I suddenly saw five golden shining characters of "Falun Dafa is good" in front of a person's chest. Each character was as big a palm. I was so pleased and ran towards him as a child. When I arrived in Canberra, I said to other fellow practitioner, "Could you help me find out what dress that western practitioner was wearing? The characters were so big and shiny!" The practitioner went to take a look, then came back and told me that there was only a row of small blue-printed characters of "Falun Dafa is good", and at that time he only wore it underneath a jacket. I understood it was Master who helped me when he saw my firm determination in clarifying the truth. A week later, that western practitioner took me back to the city again.
On my way home from the city I met a Chinese. I kept clarifying the truth to her along the way. At the beginning she did not believe, and had a lot of misunderstandings about all that Falun Gong practitioners were doing. I then told her the persecution stories of my fellow practitioners in China. Gradually her attitude changed for the better. She also left me her address and said she would help me if necessary. I also left her my address in Australia. When the bus came to my bus stop, she reminded me. Thus I easily got back home.
The place where I lived is very close to a university where there are a lot of Chinese students. On the campus there is a Falun Gong practice site. Every Wednesday and Thursday, I walked there to practice the exercises. Canberra is the Australian capital and every day a lot of Chinese tourists visit there. I heard that practitioners were greatly needed there for truth-clarification, so I went there three times. Every week, I attended the big group Fa study with Sydney practitioners. The practitioners study the Fa together and share their cultivation experiences. I was a newcomer and was not familiar with the environment, but as soon as I thought that we were one body, I would actively participate in various truth-clarifying activities. I harmonized with the local practitioners very quickly. In Sydney, there are a lot of suburbs. Practitioners took advantage of the local festivals to hold truth-clarifying activities, such as parades, waist-drumming, Tang Dynasty fashion shows, floats, Falun Gong exercise demos, anti-torture exhibits, etc. to clarify the truth to people.
To keep up with the immense process and force of Master's Fa-rectification, the local practitioners held many public activities to introduce Dafa, such as the lawsuit of Jiang Zemin and the anti-torture exhibition in front of the Federal Supreme Court. Before I came to Australia, I hadn't intended to stay. I planned to go back to China. My friends and relatives also had repeatedly asked me to be careful with my safety and try not to show my face in public while abroad. But since I believed that until the persecution is stopped, practitioners in China would be persecuted every second, every hour, and every day, I then took part in these activities without any hesitation. I thought that I was a Dafa practitioner and wherever I was, I should always do the three things that Master told us to do: study the Fa, send forth righteous thoughts, and clarify the truth. I clearly remembered Master's teaching in "Teaching the Fa at the 2002 Fa Conference in Boston:"
"The old forces don't dare to oppose our clarifying the truth or saving sentient beings. What's key is to not let them take advantage of the gaps in your state of mind when you do things."
In front of the Chinese Embassy in Canberra, I told tourists, "Falun Gong is being persecuted in China. The Tiananmen self-immolation incident was staged." My pure mandarin often attracted their notice, and they would come up to ask me where I came from and how I came to be there. I told them that I came here to visit relatives. They were astonished and said, "You even dare to say such things here. Do you still want to go back? Do you know that there are video cameras here that can record your activities?" Hearing about this, I had no fear. I said to them, "If I don't say it, then who will? All the news reports about Falun Gong in China are lies. You have no access to the real facts in China."
The fellow practitioners promoting Dafa with me often asked me why I had no fear and how I had let go of it. I said that we were doing the most righteous thing. We didn't do anything wrong, then why should we be afraid? One righteous mind can subdue one hundred evils. Master taught in "Dafa Disciples' Righteous Thoughts are Powerful,"
"The more fearful they are inside, the more the evil specifically goes after such students. And the overall situation that has appeared, in which Dafa is persecuted in the human world, is caused by the large-scale, severe occurrence of these students being persecuted because they have attachments..."
Sometimes when I had the thought that I really need to be more careful, a figure 88 would appear in my mind. I knew that it must be Master hinting at something. When I casually open Hong Yin (2) to page 88 (in Chinese), I then knew Master's painstaking efforts. On page 88, Master wrote,
"If you have fear, it will seize on; As soon as your thoughts are righteous, the evil will collapse; As a cultivator, you bear the Fa in your mind; Send forth righteous thoughts, the rotten demons are blasted; The gods are in the human world, to validate the Fa." (Unofficial translation of "What to Fear" from Hong Yin (2))
On September 15, 2004, a lawsuit against the former Chinese leader Jiang Zemin and the 610 Office for genocide, torture, and crimes against humanity was accepted by the Supreme Court of New South Wales, Australia, and the two defendants were sent subpoenas. On December 10, the court subpoenaed two defendants and plaintiffs to appear in court. It was World Human Right's Day. Falun Gong practitioners from different places in Australia held a 3-day truth-clarification event. The anti-torture exhibition in front of the Supreme Court needed help and I wanted to attend. Before, when I promoted Dafa in Canberra, I had acted as a practitioner being persecuted. What I didn't like the most was to act as an evil policeman, since the fierce appearance as an evil policeman made me very uncomfortable, and many people who got to know the truth about Dafa would spit on the person who acted as an evil policeman. Master saw my attachment. The coordinating practitioner said to me, "Please act as a policeman, since that is the only player we need." So on two successive days, I played the part of a policeman. I knew that Master was asking me to let go of human attachments and to save sentient beings with a pure heart.
My daughter often said, "Mom, you said that you came to Australia to visit me, but actually, you came here for the Fa. Since you came here, you have put all your heart in promoting Dafa and clarifying the truth, and haven't been out for a good visit." I thought: those are the things a Dafa disciple should do, and I'm still behind in the requirements of a Dafa disciple in the period of Fa-rectification.
When it was nearly time for me to go back to China, my daughter and fellow practitioners in Australia kept persuading me: The persecution is continuing now in China. Since you are always validating the Fa publicly, you may be in danger after you return. Don't go back. Won't it be the same for you to validate the Fa abroad? We can help you to apply for refugee status. I told them a dream I had. I dreamed that in a big dark room, there lay on the ground a large number of dead bodies. Whenever I moved one, he would come back to life again. At last all the people in the room woke up through my actions. I know that there are too many people in China who still don't know the truth about Dafa, so I must go back.
On the day before I was to return to China, I had a severe karma eliminating condition. I had a fever of 108 0F, vomiting, and chills. I knew that it was the evil that was scared. It was afraid that I would go back to tell fellow practitioners in China the great status of Dafa spreading overseas. It was afraid that I would go back to join the mighty current of Fa-Rectification. "I'm Master's disciple and should only take the path Master has arranged for me. I absolutely do not allow the old forces to interfere and persecute!" Once the thought came up, the evil was eliminated. It was just like what Master said:
"After passing the shady willow trees, there will be bright flowers and another village ahead!" (Zhuan Falun)
The return journey went smoothly. When going through the airport security area, the security inspector insisted that I open my luggage. I immediately enlightened that the old forces hadn't given up so I sent forth righteous thoughts right away. The inspector took Hong Yin and asked me, "You are prohibited from carrying Falun Gong books, are you carrying any?" I said you could check. The inspector was unable to find anything. Thank Master for the merciful and arduous rescue!
Now I've already merged into the mighty current of validating the Fa to save sentient beings in China. Let the practitioners in China and all over the world forge ahead diligently together and achieve the goal of improving as a whole. Let's expose the evil and save sentient beings. Let's end the evil persecution as soon as possible.

He will be transferred to the Shandong Provincial Labor Camp located in Zibo City.

On January 12, 2005, the Beining City Police Station Team Leader An Dianming (male) lead a group of police that stormed into Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Qiu Wenzhen's house, ransacked it, confiscated Falun Dafa Books, and arrested Ms. Qiu, without either a search warrant or an arrest warrant.

4. [Fangshan County, Beijing City] Ms. Zhang Chunfang Was Arrested
Around noon on December 8, 2004, four plain-clothes police from the Fangshan County Police Station, the State Security Office, and the Liangxiang Police Substation ransacked Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Zhang Chunfang's home when she was not there and confiscated her Falun Dafa books and materials. They later went to her place of employment and arrested her. She is being held in the Fangshan District Detention Center.

On December 5, 2004, Clearwisdom.net reported the brutal persecution of Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Zhang Junyun (see http://www.clearwisdom.net/emh/articles/2004/12/5/55285.html). She was bailed out on a medical parole on July 30, 2004, because her physical condition had deteriorated to a life-threatening level. Her family was forced to pay more than 1,300 yuan in medical costs before they would release her.
On December 29, 2004, camp guard Wang called Ms. Zhang Junyun's older sister and requested that she submit the results of her sister's physical examination to the local 610 Office. The police must have proof, including a doctor's note and two thought reports [1]. These are to be mailed to the labor camp, so that they can determine her current state of mind and physical condition, otherwise she must return to the camp. They told her this is a legal procedure.

8. [Yichun City, Heilongjiang Province] Disabled Mr. Hou Zhijun Is Detained in Nancha District Detention Center
Mr. Hou Zhijun, in his forties and disabled, is small business owner at the Changhong Small Applicance Repair Center in the Nancha District of Yichun City, Heilongjiang Province. After he started cultivating Falun Dafa, he better understood how to be a good person and that one must cultivate one's character with emphasis on virtue and helping others. His customers and people in the District responded to him very well. In order to save those who were deceived by the media propaganda, he used loud speakers to broadcast the truth about Falun Dafa. The local police arrested him, interrogated him, and tortured him, before they sentenced him to several years' in prison. Due to his disabled condition, Xianglan Prison rejected him twice.
9. [Hefei City, Anhui Province] Ms. He Jiming Is Facing Trial
The Hefei City 610 Office arrested Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. He Jiming from Hefei City, Anhui Province, on the evening of March 2, 2004, when she was riding her bike. She was tortured in the Huayuan Hotel for more than twenty days. Ms. He Jiming is being detained in the Hefei City First Detention Center and has been denied family visitation rights for ten months. Police are trying to put her on trial.
10. [Suining City, Sichuan Province] Persecution Facts in Suining City
From November 27 to November 30, 2004, police from the City Station, the State Security Team and the local 610 Office individually tailed, monitored, and arrested six Falun practitioners in Suining City, including Ms. Guo Dingmin, Mr. Quan Xuejin, Mr. Wang Guoqi, Ms. Zhou Zhihua, Ms. Tan Xiaorong, and Ms. Lin Shuzhen. Ms. Tan Xiaorong's husband, Guo Fugui, a nonpractitioner, was also arrested at their rental home. Police confiscated 2,100 yuan in cash and a cell phone and detained him for seven days.
State Security police also arrested three other practitioners, including Mr. Hu Yecai and Mr. Xiao Rongqiang from Suining City and Mr. Yang Zuxiang from the Da-an Region. They also arrested three other Falun Dafa practitioners, whose names are unknown.

11. [Longkou City, Shandong Province] Ms. Li Guilan Is Arrested Again
In July or August 2004, Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Li Guilan was arrested. On September 6, 2004, Ms. Li Guilan was working in her family's orchard, when 610 Office police Liu Yonglai (male) and Yan Jiayun (male) arrested her and ransacked her home. In the middle of the night they brought Ms. Li Guilan to the Zhangjiagou Detention Center and tortured her. Ms. Li Guilan exposed Liu Yonglai's crimes against Falun Dafa practitioners and how Liu Yonglai hates her. In retailiation, Liu Yonglai fabricated lies, saying that there are 58 banners, 372 audio tapes, plus more than 400 truth clarifying publications in Ms. Li's house, in an attempt to have her sentenced to five years in prison. Ms. Li Guilan tore the sentencing documents into pieces. She is preparing a lawsuit against Liu Yonglai.

On November 10, 2004, officials arrested practitioners Wu Youqing and Hu (genders unknown) at their relatives' homes and sent them to the Maoming City Legal Education School to be brainwashed. Many practitioners locked in the school are on a hunger strike to protest and are being brutally force-fed by police. Their lives are in grave danger.
13. [Yichang City, Hubei Province] Several Falun Dafa Practitioners Are Arrested
On the afternoon of November 30, 2004, around 3 p.m., several Falun Dafa practitioners were clarifying the truth in the region between Baotai River, Heyi Street, and Heyi Village in the Wujia District of Yichang City, Hubei Province. Villagers who still do not know the truth about Falun Dafa reported them. With help from the Neighborhood Administration, police from the Baotai Rivier Substation arrested Ms. Chen Jizhen, Ms. Wang Hailing, Ms. Wu Guixiu, and Mr. Li Juyi. Ms. Wu Guixiu walked out of the substation on the same day with righteous thoughts. Others also walked out recently.

Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Wan Chuanling from Bishan County, Chongqing City, was arrested for the second time and sent directly to the Maojiashan Women's Labor Camp. In order to resist the persecution, she swallowed pieces of metal. Police did not rush her to the hospital, but called her husband to come and pay the medical expense in advance, which he refused to do.
Since she was sent to the labor camp without a formal notice to her family and was unable to gather a change of clothes or toiletries, her husband tried to bring her these items. The guards stopped him at the entrance and told him that he can only have visitation privileges after three months. Ms. Wan Chuanling is in a very difficult situation.

Practitioner Ms. Yuan Jiao-e is 40 years old and an elementary schoolteacher. She was reported for clarifying the truth about Falun Dafa to her students and arrested on her way to work by 610 Office police. Police also ransacked her home. They threatened her, saying that the materials they found in her home were more than enough to send her to jail. Ms. Yuan's husband, Fan Songle, was a Falun Dafa practitioner as well. After being severely brainwashed in 2001, he died in July 2002. Her daughter, Huihui (age unknown), is suffering terribly and crying everyday for her mother's safe return.

[1] Thought Reports are used in most communist countries to determine if the people are conforming to the ideological brainwashing. These are required from children in elementary school to adults in the workplace. They are essential for determining the state of transformation of Falun Dafa practitioners.
[2] Dead Man's Bed is a form of torture. The practitioner's arms and legs are stretched out and tied to the four corners of an icy-cold metal bed. The practitioner cannot move at all. Neither is he allowed to get up to eat, drink, or go to the bathroom. This treatment lasts from several hours up to more than two weeks. This type of cruel torture causes severe damage to the practitioner both mentally and physically.

Mr. Wang Chunbo and his wife, Shi Wei (in her 30s) are from Anshan city, Liaoning province. They were arrested at their apartment on October 14, 2004. Wang Chunbo was imprisoned in the Anshan City Second Prison and has been on a hunger strike for two months. The Anshan City Tiexi People's Court planned to put him on trial. 3. [Wuhan, Hubei province] Mr. Chen Guoqing Imprisoned Since Last July
In July 2004, Mr. Chen Guoqing from Wuhan city, Hubei province, was arrested at the information base in Xiaogan city in Hubei. He is still imprisoned now. Chen Guoqing previously served a two-year term in a forced labor camp.

On April 22, 2004, Mr. Wang Xingtian and Mr. Wang Dianwen were planting trees on a mountain in Wafangdian in Liaoning province. The police from the Wafangdian Police Station arrested them and sent them to the Zhuhuajie Prison. After two months in that prison, they were sent to the Dalian Brainwashing Center. So far, they have been imprisoned for almost 8 months.
5. [Dalian city, Liaoning province] Exposing the Brutal Torture Methods Used on Practitioners in the Dalian Brainwashing Center
The Liaoning Dalian Brainwashing Center personnel brutally torture practitioners. The police use electric batons, hanging people up by handcuffs, and the "Death Bed" to torture practitioners, and also deprive them of sleep to further wear them down.
The torture method used by the "strict management" on the fourth floor was to tie practitioners to a bed until they gradually became very weak. Then, they cuffed the practitioner's hands and pulled them up until their arms were straight over their heads and their feet barely touched the floor. After a period of time, some people would have swollen arms, legs, and feet from the lack of circulation. The more serious effects included not being able to use their arms after such torture. Practitioners were often hung up until they lost control of their bodily functions.
The corn meal porridge and noodles fed to practitioners were all spoiled. The vegetable soups were often made from rotten vegetables. After eating, everyone would have various symptoms of discomfort like toothache, stomachache, diarrhea, a swollen face, or fatigue.
On the second floor of the third building in the Dalian Emergency Rescue Center, the medical staff injected unknown medication into practitioners until they couldn't find any veins to use anymore. They frequently took blood samples and constantly injected saline into practitioners. They seemed to be experimenting with the practitioners.
6. [Dalian, Liaoning province] Ms. Ge Aicha and Ms. Liu Suying Detained at Masanjia Forced Labor Camp for Two Years
Ms. Ge Aicha and Ms. Liu Suying were from Shihe, Jinzhou, Dalian city, Liaoning province. They were arrested on November 9, 2004, while clarifying the truth to Guo Xin, Director of the Shihe Police Station. Guo Xin and two other offiecers arrested the women and took them to the Jinzhou Sanli Prison. The police confiscated some of Liu Suying's personal property from her house including VCDs, a stereo, CDs, flyers, books worth 260 yuan, and 600 yuan in cash. Later Liu's family asked for 200 yuan of the money back. In the afternoon of December 10, 2004, Liu Suying and Ge Aicha were sent to the Masanjia Force Labor Camp for two-year terms.
Note: Guo Xin used to work in the Guangming Police Station in Jinzhou and was later transferred to the Shihe Police Station. From November 9 to December 10, Guo has received many truth-clarifying materials and letters from Falun Gong practitioners, yet he continues to arrest practitioners.
7. [Dalian, Liaoning province] Ms. Wu Jiying Arrested for Clarifying the Truth about Falun Gong
Around10 a.m. on December 7, 2004, Ms. Wu Jiying was explaining the facts about the persecution of Falun Gong while she was trading in the Laohushan market in Jinzhou, Dalian city. The plainclothes 610 Office secret service personnel followed her. Later four police dragged her into a police car and took her and her goods to the Bianfang Police Station in Lashushan. Wu Jiying's husband, Wang Xingtian, is currently imprisoned in the Dalian Education Center.
Four people forced Wu Jiying to be fingerprinted. One of her fingers bled because the officers pushed it so hard. Wu was pushed to the ground and both her hands and feet were immobilized. One of the police tried to choke her and suffocate her. She still refused to cooperate, and so the police handcuffed her and took her to the Jinzhou Police Station.
Officer Xiao Wei from the Dalian Education Center ordered the 610 Office agents, Yu Chengwu and An Dongshen, to order the police from the Jinzhou Sanshilibao Police Station to go to Wu Jiying's house to confiscate her property. The police took away all the Falun Gong books and truth-clairfying materials.

Ms. An Baozhen and Ms. Wang Lixin from Jiamusi, Heilongjiang province, were arrested at their work place by the Jiamusi Shunhe Police Station.
10. [Zhaoyang county, Liaoning province] Ms. Yue Yuwen Sentenced to Two Years in the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp in Shenyang, Liaoning Province
Ms. Yue Yuwen is from Zhaoyang county, Liaoning province. Yue went to Beijing to validate the Fa on December 25, 2004, but was arrested. She was imprisoned in Shijiahetao for 15 days and sent to the Shenyang Masanjia Forced Labor Camp on January 11 for a term of two years.
11. [Huangping county, Guizhou province] Ms. Tan Zeping Sentenced to a Forced Labor Camp for Three Years
Li Qiyu, from Huangping county, Guizhou province, over 60 years old, was giving truth-clarifying materials to a student in November 2004 when officers from the Wengping Police Station arrested her. The Secretary of the County Law and Political Commission, Shi Xingde, investigated this case. Li Qiyu was later interrogated at the county police station. Li Qiyu ended up telling the police the name of the person that had supplied the truth-clarifying materials.
Later, Ms. Tan Zeping was arrested and interrogated. On January 5, 2005, police from Guiyang city went to Tan Zeping's work place and arrested her. The police notice said to send her to a forced labor camp for three years.

12. [You county, Hunan province] Ms. Wu Xueyi Sentenced to Four Years and Ms. He Difan to Three Years
On December 27, 2004, the You County Court in Hunan province tried four Falun Gong practitioners. They were, Ms. Wu Xueyi, Ms. Chen Yuner, Ms. He Difan, and a practitioner from Hunan Liling city. It was recently learned that Wu Xueyi was sentenced to four years in prison and He Difan to three years.
(Clearwisdom.net) A "solemn declaration" is a person's public statement declaring to the world that whatever he or she has done or said under duress or deception that was against Falun Dafa is null and void. Most of these statements have come from Falun Dafa practitioners in China who wished to express regret that, in the face of physical torture and brainwashing, they had signed documents renouncing Dafa and guaranteeing not to practice again. Also, as more and more people in China learn the truth about how they have been deceived and lied to by the Jiang regime, many non-practitioners are also submitting "solemn declarations."

Facts of the Persecution
Persecution of Falun Dafa Practitioners at the Heilongjiang Province Women's Prison
In April 2004, Dafa practitioners Wang Fajuan, Li Dongxue, Chen Yunxia, Miao Xiaolu and a few others at Division 7 at the Heilongjiang Province Women's Prison were tortured with a method called "The Big Hang-up" until they lost consciousness [There are two forms in this torture: (1) With both hands cuffed behind the back and only toes touching the ground, one is hung by a rope that is tied to the metal window frames; (2) One hand of a practitioner is cuffed to one bunk bed and the other hand to another bed, and the two beds are pulled in the opposite directions. One suffers extreme pain as the body is pulled]. Four practitioners' wrists were broken, and practitioner Li Dongxue could not walk. The next day, Cui Yan, deputy division head, tortured practitioner Chen Yunxia with "The Big Hang-up" until she lost consciousness, simply for closing her eyes. In July, practitioners Li Dongxue, Zheng Hongli, Sun Guizhi, Miao Xiaolu, Liu Yaqin, Chen Yunxia were again tortured with "The Big Hang-up."
In 2004 alone, the perpetrators tortured the practitioners with "The Big Hang-up" five or six times. Before May 2004, Dafa practitioners Di Yafen, Yu Xiuying, Zhang Liping, Guan Shuling, Fan Guoxia and others were tortured with this brutal method. In mid July, practitioner Chen Weijun was tortured this way because she refused to join the inmates' roll call.
Sixteen Dafa practitioners on the fifth floor, Division 1, were forced to sit on small stools for 13 to 14 hours a day for seven or eight months, during which they were not allowed to speak or move. On the afternoon of December 21, practitioners Cui Hongmei and Xia Fengying ordered inmates to torture practitioners Zhang Xiaobo, Guan Shuling, Zhang Linwen and Zhang Liping with "The Big Hang-up." The practitioners' hands turned black, and their wrists bled and swelled. After they were let down, practitioner Zhang Xiaobo experienced numbness in her body and she also lost consciousness soon after. In the evening she suffered from headache, nausea, heart palpitations and vomited. Practitioner Zhang Liping lost consciousness and was let down. After she came to, she was again hung up. The perpetrators beat and kicked her, and then again hung her up for several days, during which time she was not allowed to sleep.
Practitioner Guan Shuling was tortured the same way. After she lost consciousness, the perpetrators stuck a long needle into the space between the nose and the upper lip and injected her with psychotropic drugs. When she came to, she was nauseous and vomited. She could not walk straight. The perpetrators hung her back up and she lost consciousness before they could pull her to a higher position.
All four practitioners suffered injuries to their wrists. The perpetrators then hung practitioners Gao Guizhen, Yu Xiuying and Liu Xuewei up with their hands cuffed behind their backs. They hung practitioner Ms. Liu Xuewei for four days during which time they beat her numerous times. After she passed out in the bathroom, they handcuffed her. On December 28, practitioner Chen Weijun took off the prison uniform and was handcuffed and forced to lie on the cold concrete floor. At 3:00 p.m. on December 29, all guards at Division 2 took the inmates back to the cells. They tortured practitioners Chen Weijun, Guan Shuling, Zhang Jing and Zhang Liping with "The Big Hang-up." All practitioners except Zhang Jing lost consciousness. Falun Dafa practitioner Zhang Liping sustained dislocated shoulders. Their limbs went numb and afterwards they were brutally beaten until they were at the brink of a mental collapse.

Persecution of Dafa Practitioners at the Suihua Forced Labor Camp
Dafa practitioner Sun Jiadong from Yichun City, Heilongjiang Province was sent to the Suihua Forced Labor Camp in May 2002 for three years of detention, in violation of the Chinese constitution. In April 2003 he was sent to a solitary confinement cell where the guards tortured him with a method called the "Tiger Bench", while blasting a radio into his ears at full volume for several days. Gao Zhonghai, the political head of Division 2, beat and kicked Sun Jiadong, and they shocked him with 300,000-volt electric batons. Seven days later, guards Gao Zhonghai, Long Kuibin and Liu Wei barbarically beat him and then locked him in solitary confinement.
Dafa practitioner Wang Changhai from Yichun City was sentenced to one year of forced labor in 1999 for appealing in Beijing. His sentence was extended by three months. Six months later he was sentenced to another three years of forced labor. In March 2003, several guards including Zeng Lingjun took Wang Changhai to the office and brutally beat him until his internal organs were severely injured. In August 2003, guards Long Kuibin, Liu Wei and others didn't allow Wang Changhai to sleep for over 40 days.
Dafa practitioner Liu Yu was sent to the Suihua Forced Labor Camp from Jixi Forced Labor Camp on October 12, 2003. Around 8:00 a.m. the next day, the guards tied practitioner Liu Yu between two beds, put copper wires around the practitioner's feet and connected the wires to 300,000-volt electric batons. The torture lasted from 8:00 a.m. to past 2:00 p.m. Liu Yu's body was severely injured.

Practitioner Li Li From Shifang City, Sichuan Province Abducted in Broad Daylight; Whereabouts Unknown
On February 3, 2005, Dafa practitioner Li Li, an employee of the Freight Transport Office at Shifang City, Sichuan Province was abducted from work. The perpetrators were five officers from the Chengdu City Railway Police Department and two officers from Guanghan Station Police Department. His current whereabouts are unknown.

Elderly Practitioners Zhang Xianbai and Li Zhengxin from Dazu County, Chongqing Pass Away Due to Persecution
Ms. Zhang Xianbai was in her 70s and was the principal at an elementary school in Suilin City. After her retirement she lived in Sanqu Town, Dazu County, Chongqing and was often ill. She started practicing Falun Gong in 1997 and her health improved greatly. After the persecution began on July 20, 1999, officials from the Sanqu Town government, the residential Party Committee and the local police department often harassed and threatened her. She gave up Falun Gong due to pressure. As a result, her health deteriorated and she became virtually blind. She again started practicing Falun Gong, but because her Dafa books had been taken away and the persecutors constantly monitored and threatened her, she lived in fear and her condition worsened. She passed away in late 2002.
Mr. Li Zhengxin was around 60 years of age and was a member of the Dazu County Politics Committee. His health improved tremendously after he started practicing Falun Gong around 1998. After the persecution began, he feared the persecution and stopped practicing. He passed away in 2003.

Dafa Practitioner Guo Xiuying in Suining City, Sichuan Province Recounts Persecution by Lawless Local Officials
My name is Guo Xiuying. I am 44 years old and live in Longping, Chuanshan District, Suining City, Sichuan Province. I began practicing Falun Gong in February 1997. In June 2000 I went to Beijing to appeal for Dafa and was abducted by police later that day. I was illegally sent back to a local detention center and perpetrators from Suining Police Department confiscated my Dafa books.
Fellow practitioners Su Qionghua, Deng Wenyi and I held a hunger strike for five days. When we asked for our Dafa books back, the guards dragged us into a room, which caused our feet and calves to bleed. We were held there for one month during which we were fed only porridge with pickled vegetables for breakfast and dinner, and rice and vegetables for lunch. They extorted 270 yuan from us.
We will begin this week's episode of Pure Heart, Clear Mind with the Falun Dafa News Review, which will be followed by An American Family's Cultivation Story. We will then learn about the lawsuit taking place in the United States against former Chinese Communist Chairman Jiang Zemin. After that, we will see the Artwork of the Week segment. Pure Heart, Clear Mind was established in early 2002 by a group of
volunteers who were interested in Falun Gong and had the wish to introduce
the truth and beauty of the practice's exercises and teachings to the public.
