Recent situation regarding Zhu Keming
Zhu Keming's family received a notice in February 2001, telling them to pick Zhu up in Fangshan County, Beijing. When family members arrived in Fangshan, the police told them that Zhu had been taken somewhere. They did not say who picked him up.
In April 2001, Zhu's family was told that Zhu Keming had been secretly sentenced to five years in prison. He was transferred to Tianjin's Chadian Prison.
According to a reliable source, even now, the police monitor Zhu daily. The police call him the "last one out of the prison" because he not only resists the brainwashing attempts but also writes monthly appeals.
The police told him if he agrees to write the "four statements"(Promissory statement, Repentance Statement, Dissociation Statement and Criticism Statement" all having to do with his Falun Dafa practice), he will be released from prison. But Zhu Keming is determined in his faith and refuses to compromise in any way.
The source also said that the prison officials have never delivered any of Zhu Keming's appeals to the proper departments.
People Support Zhu Keming
Since August 2001, Falun Gong practitioners in Hong Kong and the U.S. have made numerous efforts to appeal for Zhu's release. The Associated Press, BBC Monitor, Agence France Presse, the Mingbao Newspaper, On-line Good Newspaper and Apple Daily have filed reports on his case.
In an Apple Daily commentary in 2000 the author wrote, "According to the Chinese Communist Government's Constitution, Chinese citizens have freedom of speech, of communication, of the press, of assembly, of association, the freedom to have a march, to hold a demonstration and to strike. They also have freedom of religion. Citizens can bring accusations and appeals to all levels of government agencies about [acts of] violation of the constitution and incompetence by any government agencies, companies and officials..., no one can suppress and take revenge against such accusations and appeals. Zhu Keming must have launched the lawsuit based on such language in the Constitution."
"When he was arrested, he might have thought, 'no one can take revenge. This Falun Gong practitioner trusted the constitution too much. His eventual incarceration was quite predictable."
In the same article the author also wrote, "Throughout Chinese history, almost all emperors have admitted their faults, on some occasions facing criticism from their loyal and honest ministers. However, the leaders of Communist China have never admitted their mistakes and their violations of the law. They could always refer to their predecessors for justification. When Hitler's fascist ally Mussolini ruled Italy, the regime had a slogan, 'Mussolini is always right!'"
Lawsuits against Jiang Zemin in overseas countries are on the rise
From October 2002 to December 2004, Falun Gong practitioners outside of China launched lawsuits against Jiang Zemin in the U.S., Belgium, Spain, Taiwan, Germany, Korea, Canada, Greece, Australia, New Zealand, Bolivia, Chile and Holland. The lawsuits charge Jiang with crimes of genocide, torture and crimes against humanity, and have caused widespread public attention from the people of many countries.
In the words of the lawyer representing the plaintiffs of Chicago's lawsuit against Jiang Zemin, the overseas Falun Gong practitioners launched the lawsuit against Jiang and his main accomplices "in order to stop the Jiang regime's on-going persecution of Falun Gong." Through the legal systems in the free world, "they told the world that a genocide is happening in China. They also encourage more people to help stop the persecution through other channels."
In fact, the lawsuits have helped the legal community and other people learn about the causes and consequences of the persecution, its severity and the horrible harm it brings to China and the world. These lawsuits are a part of the battle between the just and the evil. In the near future, Jiang Zemin and all his accomplices who participated in the persecution will definitely be brought to justice.

(Clearwisdom.net) In April 2001, when Zhang Buyuan and a fellow practitioner transferred Falun Gong truth clarification materials to Changchun City, the taxi driver reported them to the police and they were detained at Changchun City's Tiebei Detention Center. Zhang Buyuan staged a hunger strike to protest the persecution and was violently forced-fed. Several female criminal inmates held down her hands and feet, pinched her nose, placed a toothbrush between her teeth, and another inmate pressed her knee on Zhang Buyuan's chest. Zhang Buyuan was thus forced-fed a mixture of steamed bun crumb or corn flour with large amounts of salt and soup. (Please see picture 1)
On January 18, 2001, Zhang Buyuan traveled to Beijing and unfurled a Falun Gong banner on Tiananmen Square. She shouted loudly, "Falun Dafa is great!" Two security guards took her to a police van and sent her to Qianmen Police Station and later transferred her to Fengtai District's Xuanwu Detention Center. She was violently force-fed during her hunger strike. (Please see picture 2) Two male criminals held down her shoulder while she was forced to squat against the wall. A prison doctor inserted a tube through her nose. The tube was inserted into her trachea and she fainted (Please see picture 3). Two male criminals dragged her by the legs and threw her aside. When she woke up, they continued force-feeding her by inserting a tube into her nose. The tube was covered with blood when it was pulled out.

On December 19, 2004, the Guiyang County Court sentenced Mr. Yan Yong to four years and Mr. Li Zhanxian to three and a half years in prison for their involvement in producing and distributing Falun Dafa materials. According to their families, when they called to ask related personnel in the court why they were sentenced, the answer was: "We do not want to do this either, but the pressure from above is enormous."
In 2004, practitioner Ms. Cao Pingqin, an employee at Guiyang County Baoshan Lead-zinc Mine, was turned in by the director of retirement office, Zhou Tiansheng, for distributing truth-clarifying materials at work. After receiving the report, the security division immediately reported to the National Security Division in Guiyang County. Very soon after, Cao Pingqin and her husband Yan Yong were arrested on July 27.
On August 19, 2004, practitioner Li Zhanxian was abducted on his way to work.
All three practitioners mentioned above have been tortured to different extents after their arrests. Li Zhanxian was handcuffed and hung up for five days by Guiyang National Security Brigade police. Yan Yong was not allowed to drink water or sleep for five days. After Cao Pingqin was sent to the detention center, police incited the guards to beat her until her face was black and blue.
On October 15, Guiyang County Court opened a trial against Yan Yong and Li Zhanxian. During the trial, the two practitioners defended themselves and exposed the illegal torture methods used by the National Security Brigade. Their lawyers also defended them by presenting evidence that the National Security Brigade officers interrogated them with threats and physical torture. After a five-hour hearing, the public prosecutor concluded the hearing without delivering any verdict. However, on December 19, the court still sentenced Yan Yong to four years and Li Zhanxian to three and a half years in prison for producing and distributing Falun Dafa materials.
Officials from all levels including county, city and province are very nervous about this case and have listed it as a "special big case."
Yan Yong is an excellent worker. His employer, the Guiyang County Industrial and Commercial Bank, as well as its supervisor, the city bank, are both very pleased with his performance. However, the provincial bank repeatedly pressured the county bank to terminate his work contract. As a result, the county bank had to terminate his work contract even before they received the final verdict. In addition, on November 30, Liu Daolun, from the provincial propaganda department, personally traveled to the Guiyang County 610 Office to ensure that the work contract was terminated. On the same day, Cao Pingqin was also sentenced to one year in a labor camp. She has since been bailed out and has returned home. At present, both Yan Yong and Li Zhanxian refuse to accept the unlawful verdict and are planning to appeal.

(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Gong practitioner Ren Hongxia from Jiaohe City, Jilin Province was taken away from her home on October 26, 2004. The police had broken into her place from the second floor window. Four policemen tied her to a chair and forced fed her horseradish concentrate for 10 hours. She was rendered absentminded and her tuberculosis was aggravated. The police then sentenced her to the forced labor camp.
The following is her story.
My name is Ren Hongxia, a practitioner from Jiaohe City, Jilin Province. I started practicing Falun Dafa in 1997. Since the day I started practicing, I followed the standards of "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance" to guide myself to be a better and better person. Through the practice of Falun Gong, I benefited both physically and mentally. I felt the wonderfulness of Falun Dafa, and this furthered my steadfastness in the practice.
On October 26, 2004, at around 9 a.m., I was doing my laundry at home when Ma Jinke, Zhang Yashuang and a dozen policemen from the Yongan Police Station broke into my house from the second floor window, without a warrant. They took me away against my will. I was only wearing my cotton slacks, and had no shoes. They kidnapped me to the Yongan Police Station. I refused to cooperate with them, and the police violently kicked my legs repeatedly. My legs turned purple and blue. That night, without any legal procedures, they took me to the Jiaohe Detention Center.
At around 2 p.m. on October 28, the police took me back to the police station to torture me. They tied my legs to the legs of a chair, and tied my waist to the back of the chair with towels. My hands were tied behind the chair on top of each other. A policeman restrained my head using a towel, and another one stuffed my mouth with a towel. The third one poured the horseradish from a water bottle into my nose.
At that time, I felt like I was dying. I can't fully explain the choking, overwhelming sensation that went into my lungs. Still, the police tortured me every 15 minutes. They tugged my hands forcefully to hurt me. Another policeman continued to pour the horseradish concentrate into my nose and mouth. My pants and shirt were soaked with sweat and the horseradish concentrate.
The police used a total of 4 horseradish cartons to torture me until midnight. I was tortured beyond recognition. At that time, official Bai Mingku stomped me on my chest. I moaned painfully for the rest of the night until morning. My stomach felt like it was burning. I wanted to drink some water desperately, but they refused to let me. They kept me until the afternoon and illegally sent me to the detention center again.
During these brutal tortures, my mind went blank and I felt like I was about to pass out. According to those confined in the same room with me, they said I looked like a mentally ill person during the torture. There was yellow fluid running from my nose. Later, when Sun Shujie was washing my clothes for me, the horseradish on my clothes stung her hands! How can anyone take it when so much is poured into their nose!
The next day, I couldn't get up. My face and chest both turned black. The horseradish had burned my body and left many blisters. Those in the same room with me couldn't bear to look at me. They wept at the tortures that I went through. I started to recover only after 10 days or so. A layer of skin on my face and chest were burnt off. My nose still feels painful and I can't smell well. I always have a runny nose.
Because of the brutal torture and mental devastation, my pulmonary tuberculosis was aggravated.

(Clearwisdom.net) My name is Qi Luyi, and I came to Germany in 2000 to study Economics in a German University. I started practicing Falun Gong in 1998 when I was working. Since Jiang Zemin and his group initiated the persecution against Falun Gong in July of 1999, the company I was working for deliberately made things difficult for me and I was forced to leave my country.
In June of this year, I married a German Falun Dafa practitioner, and therefore I needed to change my surname of Qi to my husband's surname. Later on, the foreign management office told me that I should go to the Chinese Embassy to make the same name change on my passport.
So I went to the Chinese Embassy in Bonn on Monday the 6th of December 2004. As my fianc¨¦ and I had come here in April to get our proof of being unmarried and our passport extension, I never thought that my passport would be held up this time.

It was 10:40 in the morning. Just like the last time I had gone to the Embassy, I showed them my marriage certificate and the original copy of the certificate confirming that I had changed my name. I also handed in all the required documents, my passport and photo, to the same female officer I had dealt with the last time. I asked for the special expedited 1-hour service. The officer gave me a price list showing that the normal service for changing my name was ten Euros, with the special expedited service requiring an additional thirty Euros. She asked me to pay the forty Euros at the payment window in half an hour. She said that after that, I needed to return to her and collect my passport with the changed name.
At about 11 a.m., a male officer whom I had never seen before appeared. He was not very tall and was in his forties. He was holding my passport and said to me, "Qi Luyi, come with me, I want to ask you something." He took me to a meeting room next door while he was talking to me. He asked me when I came to Germany, and I told him. Then he asked, "Did you practice Falun Gong in China?" I replied, "Yes, I did." "Are you still practicing it?" "Yes, I am," I replied.
Then he asked me whether I had joined any activities, for example, practicing the Falun Dafa exercises with other practitioners or taking part in any experience sharing meetings. He wanted to know who joined these activities and said that I was required to write a report. I did not give him any information but said, "I know what you are doing. It is not the first time this kind of thing has happened, but doing this kind of thing is not good for you."
I said: "I know you have to do this because you are required by your boss. After the Second World War and the Great Cultural Revolution, those people who did bad deeds were all punished for what they had done, but many were only scapegoats. I think you know about the Communist Party in depth. In every movement in which they persecute people, only a small part of the people dared to speak out the truth that they held in their conscience."
He said, "What you just said has nothing to do with your passport. You need a legal document..." I told him that I had looked at their website and I had handed in what I was supposed to, including all required certificates and documents. He said that he needed to check on the computer, and then went out. He came back after a while and admitted, "Yes, you do not need any more paperwork - the legal document is only required in China when getting married. Are you still going to practice Falun Gong?" I replied: "Of course I am going to practice it as it is such a great cultivation way, why not? Dafa is widespread and practiced in over sixty countries, and has won over 1,000 awards. Don't you know about the Communist Party? The Tiananmen Square self-immolation was staged by them - you will understand if you see the slow motion video." He silently agreed.
Then he said that he needed to consult his superior about my passport. I pointed out, "You don't want to return my passport to me, is that right? By doing this you only add one more crime to what you and Jiang's group have done. I find the workers sitting here are actually quite nice, we are all Chinese, so why..." He defended himself immediately: "No, we will send it back to you shortly. You need to write..." I stopped him and said: "You know I won't write that report." He tried to defend himself again, "No, I mean you need to write your address down. We need to think about your case. We will return the fees you paid, then we will send the passport to you." I pointed at the receipt and told him that I had ordered the special expedited service, and that he must return my passport to me immediately. In the end, he dashed into his office and never returned. The female officer came out and gave me a white envelope to write down my address, which I did. I repeated what I said to the male officer, "If I don't receive my passport in one week, I am going to make it public." Finally, at about 12:15, I left.
Our conversation was conducted amicably, but the officer looked very nervous, with a guilty conscience throughout the whole process. I was the one doing the talking most of the time, and I felt that he took in what I said. He definitely knew that he was doing something illegal, and therefore he was in and out the meeting room several times, always looking cautious. I had left home that morning at 5 a.m. and didn't get back until about eight in the evening. As a result, I missed class and my passport was gone when I came back. Prior to my trip to the consulate, my mother and father-in-law told me not to trust the Communist Party, that this kind of small thing of changing names could be done by mail. I had phoned the Embassy about this, and an officer told me, "You must come to the Embassy in person. This is the regulation of the foreign department." I dutifully followed what they required, but still lost my passport.
Afterwards I realized that I should have spoken more about Falun Dafa and the persecution to the officers at the consulate, and to the German people who were there to obtain visas. I should have also asked for the name and contact information of the officer who kept my passport and demanded confirmation of their keeping it. What they have done is totally against the law, no matter whether my passport is kept for one hour or a day. This event has my husband's relatives very discontented, and they all said that the Chinese Embassy is behaving like hoodlums. I will continue to make this issue public in German society. Each day that they keep my passport, more German people will see the Embassy's evil tactics and how Jiang's regime extends the persecution of Falun Gong overseas.

(Clearwisdom.net) Mr. Song Zhenling, an outstanding teacher, lives in Huazhuang Xingzheng Village, Lutai Town, Huaiyang County, Zhoukou City, Henan Province. He had a serious case of Hepatitis B, which persisted despite many treatments. After beginning to practice Falun Dafa in 1996, Mr. Song became very healthy. His wife, Mrs. Wang Guijin, also practices Falun Dafa.
Since Jiang's regime started persecuting Falun Dafa on July 20, 1999, the formerly happy Song family has suffered greatly. Mr. Song lost his vision, his nine-month-pregnant wife was injected with drugs to induce premature birth, and police abducted their four-year-old son.
Mr. Song and Mrs. Wang have told many people about the wonders that Falun Dafa has brought to their lives. In September 2000, Mr. Song and Mrs. Wang went to appeal for Falun Dafa in Beijing. The Huaiyang 610 Office Beijing Station arrested them and sent them home. Both Mr. Song and Mrs. Wang were then held in the Huaiyang Detention Center, where they endured numerous hardships. They were released only after relatives had pawned family possessions to pay the 3,100 yuan bail. The local 610 Office and police continued to harass the family time and again after their release, so Mr. Song and Mrs. Wang had to abandon their home. While they staying at another practitioner's home, however, someone reported them to the authorities. Mr. Song and Mrs. Wang were arrested again. They went on a twenty-nine-day hunger strike and then walked out of the detention center with righteous thoughts.
Mr. Song and Mrs. Wang moved to Dan City and started a small business. Again they were arrested when someone reported them to the police. They were detained in Dan City on February 7, 2004, and later transferred to the Huiyang Detention Center. They went on another hunger strike. Since February 7, 2004, Mr. Song's health has severely deteriorated. He has become blind and emaciated. Zheng Xianfang, leader of the Huiyang 610 Office security branch, paid no attention to the poor jail conditions and continued to persecute Mr. Song and several other practitioners.
After twenty-two days on a hunger strike, Mrs. Wang's life was in danger. Afraid of being held responsible for her condition, the officials released her. Mrs. Wang became destitute and homeless to avoid arrest. The police looked for her in her brother-in-law's home, threatening, "If you do not give her to us, we will arrest your entire family." Mrs. Wang was arrested at her mother's house. Her father was sentenced to one year in prison for "harboring a criminal," and a neighbor was fined 2000 yuan for keeping her for one night.
At that time, Mrs. Wang was nine months pregnant. Ten days before her due date the police took her to the family planning center and forced her to have an abortion. The police also abducted Mrs. Wang's four-year-old son. Mrs. Wang has not heard anything about her son since then.
(Clearwisdom.net) Practitioner Mr. Zhang Zhong from Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province was emaciated and on the verge of death as a result of the tortures he suffered in Daqing Prison. After Mr. Zhang exposed these crimes on the Internet, Daqing Prison authorities became enraged and dispatched a pursuit team to arrest him. At present, the Daqing City Intermediate People's Procuratorate and the Intermediate People's Court say they are investigating Li Fangjie (nicknamed "Big Killer"), who is the Deputy Head of Daqing Prison's Political Section. The focus of the investigation is Mr. Zhang Zhong's case, because he was badly injured and permanently crippled as a result of being tortured. Li Fangjie, the perpetrator, claimed that he could make the issue disappear with a ten-thousand-yuan bribe.
As a result of being tortured in Daqing Prison, Mr. Zhang Zhong is emaciated and on the brink of death (photos taken in July 2004).
Mr. Zhang Zhong was arrested on April 19, 2002, and given a heavy sentence of 12 years imprisonment. He was held at Daqing Prison, where several times he was on the verge of death as a result of the inhumane torture. Around 9 o'clock on January 15, 2004, Mr. Zhang Zhong was found practicing Falun Gong exercises inside his prison cell. Prison guard Li Fangjie ordered him to go to the disciplinary room where Li, together with Yu Qingjiang and Liang Shuyi, verbally abused Mr. Zhang Zhong and punched his head until he lost consciousness. When the prison guards stabbed Mr. Zhang Zhong's head and hands with needles and he did not respond, they kicked him in the stomach. He was then transferred to the No. 6 Sub-prison Administrative Block, where he spit up blood and vomited up whatever he ate.
In April, when Mr. Zhang was near death, his family members went frequently to the prison requesting his release for medical treatment. During this time, Falun Dafa practitioners both in China and overseas condemned his persecution and made appeals for his release. Pressured by all the attention, the prison authorities sent Mr. Zhang Zhong to Daqing City's No. 4 Hospital to be examined. By May 9, Mr. Zhang was again teetering at death's door. On July 9, when Mr. Zhang Zhong's blood pressure was taken in the morning, at noon and in the evening, it was abnormal every time. He lost consciousness and could not eat. Mr. Zhang was then sent to the Ranghu Road People's Hospital of Daqing City for emergency treatment, where he remained for seven days.
On July 23, 2004, after Mr. Zhang Zhong had been in a coma for three consecutive days, dependant on oxygen to stay alive, Daqing Prison authorities agreed to release Mr. Zhang Zhong on bail so that they would not have to shoulder any further responsibility for him. Mr. Zhang Zhong, just skin and bones, and near death, was taken out of Daqing Prison by members of his family.
There are still more than 60 practitioners illegally held at Daqing Prison, where they are being brutally tortured. Some are in solitary confinement compartments (1). Others are dying and undergoing emergency medical treatment as a result of their inhumane tortures. The prison guards at the No. 5 Brigade did not allow practitioner Dai Zhidong or other practitioners to speak for long periods of time. The guards also threatened, "to fix those inmates who dared to speak to Falun Gong practitioners" or "those Falun Gong practitioners who spoke to other practitioners."

Note:
(1) The so-called "solitary confinement compartment" refers to locking a single detainee into a solitary cell, which contains a basin and a pair of handcuffs. The basin is used both for face washing and as a chamber pot. One end of the handcuffs goes around the wrist, and the other end attaches to the door railing. The handcuffs can be fastened onto the door railing at three different heights. In the highest position, the detainee has to extend his/her arm upward. The middle position is at waist level. In the lowest position, the detainee can sit on the ground.

On the evening of September 21, 2004, Wang Xucheng and about seven police officers from Jiuyuan District Police Department abducted the couple and searched their home. At the same time, their eldest son Ren Junshen was arrested, and their eldest daughter, Ren Junyan, was abducted from her home. Ren Junyan's husband works in another city and their nine-year-old son was left home alone. Ren Junshen and Ren Junyan are now being held in the Wuyuan County Forced Labor Camp and the Hohhot City Women's Forced Labor Camp, respectively.
Donghe District practitioner Chen Jianyong was illegally sentenced to three years in prison. His mother suffered mental trauma because of this and died soon thereafter. Chen Jianyong's wife was laid off due to her husband's situation and returned to her hometown. Their teenage child was left behind without care.
Practitioners Li Zhenjiang and Liu Jinhua, a couple, are illegally detained and no one takes care of their son, who is forced to roam the streets. Dafa disciple Yang Meiling and her mother-in-law were illegally detained because they clarified the truth of Falun Dafa. Their two-year-old toddler was at home with no one to provide care.

The Manager of a Company: "I Really Wish that All My Employees Were Falun Gong Practitioners."
After Ms. Li Mei, a Falun Gong practitioner, graduated with a doctorate degree from a famous university in China, she stayed on with the university as a lecturer. She also spearheaded research on a specific topic of study and soon became the backbone of the research team. Li Mei went to Tiananmen Square to clarify the truth of Falun Gong and the persecution in the summer of 2001. The police arrested her and she was sentenced to a one and a half year prison term. Li Mei's prison term was extended for another 6 months, as refused to renounce Falun Dafa. She returned to the university after serving her prison term. Ms. Li's boss at the university still wanted her to be the lead person to continue the research project. Her salary, housing, vehicle allowance and other benefits all remained the same. However, she was told that she must make a choice between Falun Gong and her reputation and status in the university. Li Mei replied that she should be entitled to both.
A few days later, her university boss responded that of the two choices provided, she could only select one. Li Mei replied that it was impossible for her to give up the practice of Falun Gong. On that same day, Li Mei left her workplace and returned to her hometown. She later found a job in a large company. In the interview with the company executive, Li Mei straightforwardly informed the executive that she is a Falun Gong practitioner.
The manager replied that he had no qualms about her being a Falun Gong practitioner. He said: "I can hire you on a probationary basis for three months. During the trial period, you will be paid only for living expenses. A formal employment contract will be drawn up after the probationary period if both of us agree. If either one is dissatisfied, then please find another job."
However, the manager began to urge Li Mei to sign the employment contract after less than a month's trial. She was offered the highest salary, as he highly appreciates her abilities, attitude and personality. The manager said that he really wished that all his employees were Falun Gong practitioners. He also frequently reminds her to be careful and to put her Falun Gong books in the safest place.
Death Row Inmate: "If We Had Begun The Cultivation of Falun Dafa Earlier, We Wouldn't Have Committed Crimes Like Murder and Arson."
In the year 2000, practitioner Xiao Wang was sentenced to prison because of his persistence in the practice of Falun Gong. He was imprisoned in the same cell with criminals who had been sentenced to death and were awaiting execution by firing squad.
These inmates bullied him initially. He was forced to scrub the prison floor and empty and clean the urinals. A limited number of steamed buns were available at mealtime. The inmates fought for and snatched the food as soon as it was served. Xiao Wang often did not get anything to eat. He took things lightly and seemed not to mind.
The inmates asked Xiao Wang about what crimes he had committed to end up in prison. Young Wang replied that he had not violated any law, but was imprisoned because he practiced Falun Gong. He was persecuted and sent to prison. Xiao Wang took the opportunity from then on to tell the truth of Falun Gong and the persecution to the inmates, since they did not know what Falun Gong was. The Great Law touched each and every inmate's heart.
After the inmates understood the truth, they all sobbed and said, "If we had known about and began the cultivation of Falun Dafa earlier, we wouldn't have committed crimes like murder and arson. We can only blame ourselves!"
Thereafter, at mealtimes, the inmates had consideration and respect for each other. The same quantity of steamed buns was served, but there was plenty for everyone, and no one went hungry. The entire room was filled with a serene atmosphere of understanding.
Just before his execution, an inmate said to Xiao Wang, "Elder brother, please allow me to have your toothbrush. I'd like to trade mine with yours to keep as a souvenir. In my next life, I'd like to do Falun Dafa cultivation."
Two months later, Xiao Wang was released from prison.

(Clearwisdom.net) People who are accustomed to believing in the propaganda of Jiang's state-run media [all media in China is controlled by the government] will invariably think of "overseas anti-China forces" whenever Falun Gong is mentioned.
In fact, since 1994, when Falun Gong began to spread overseas, the Chinese people there have welcomed it. Before the persecution of Falun Gong began in 1999, the Chinese Government actually encouraged the spread of Falun Gong overseas. The Chinese Embassy in France invited Teacher Li to give the first Fa-lecture overseas at the Chinese Embassy's Culture Institute on March 13, 1995. Before 1999, the proclamations and praise of Falun Gong from the overseas community and government agencies were consistent with the Chinese government's attitude. For example, as early as August 3, 1994, Houston, TX awarded Mr. Li Hongzhi "Honorary Citizen" and "Goodwill Ambassador". On October 12, 1996, the mayor of Houston, TX, USA proclaimed October 12, 1996 as Houston's Li Hongzhi Day. Since then, Falun Gong has spread to more than 60 countries. There have also been over 1200 proclamations and resolutions supporting Falun Gong from governments of various countries and NGOs. For example, the congress in the USA passed Resolution 188 on July 24, 2002 and Resolution 304 on October 5, 2004, and the Senate in Australia passed Motion 704 on December 4, 2003 to express their concern about Falun Gong practitioners and to condemn Jiang's regime for persecuting Falun Gong.

Falun Gong has received more than 1200 proclamations around the world.
The largest divisions in international community may be related to the political views of each society. However, from Africa and Eastern Europe to Latin America and North America, from South Korea and Japan to Russia and Iceland, all segments of the international community broadly support and praise Falun Gong, indicating that Falun Gong has transcended the boundaries of race and culture, and is unrelated with politics. "Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance" is the cultural treasure of all mankind.
Jiang's state-run media often accuse the international community that supports Falun Gong of "interference in China's internal affairs by anti-China forces". However, an obvious point to remember is that the so called "anti-China forces" could not possibly have known that Jiang was going to persecute Falun Gong before 1999. Thus, what is Jiang's ultimate purpose in linking Falun Gong with the so-called "anti-China forces?"
Jiang Zemin became the paramount leader of Party, administration, and army through political opportunities offered by the former leader, Deng Xiaoping. Jiang clearly recognized the fact that there were many senior cadres who exceeded him in political capital and talent, and that those cadres would not recognize him, except as a political opportunist. At the time Jiang took the stage, Deng Xiaoping had appointed Hu Jintao as the leader to succeed Jiang. This was a rare event in the history of the Chinese Communist Party. So, because of his obstinate desire for power and personal jealousy, Jiang felt extremely threatened by the international praise that Premier Zhu Rongji had received for peacefully handling the 4.25 appeal at Zhongnanhai and the warm welcome that Falun Gong and its founder had received in China and abroad.
According to the tradition of the Chinese Communist Party, the most effective tactic to strengthen power and to eliminate political enemies is to launch a political movement. In every political movement in communist history, some people are isolated from the public as "a minority," and then accused of various crimes and targeted for elimination. It appeared to Jiang that Falun Gong, a peaceful cultivation group that followed the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance and had no political aspirations, were appropriate candidates to target for his political movement.
According to a document exposed after the event, in 2000, Jiang proclaimed, "Falun Gong believes in 'Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance," which provide us an opportunity to 'eliminate the poison.' In contrast, other Qigong groups are not easy to handle and may possibly cause violent disturbances in the nation. They may even commit homicide, apply poison gas, or make bombs as well other terrorist activities. Falun Gong believes in 'Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance' so our crackdown can be easily conducted. We can use the experience gained in fighting Falun Gong to fight other Qigong organizations."
CNN Chinese Affairs Analyst Willy Lam pointed out in an article entitled, "The High Price of the Crackdown in China," that some members of the Politburo actually did not support the persecution. This is no longer a secret. The article also cited a quote by a senior member of the communist party, "Through launching this political movement, Jiang is forcing senior leaders to express obedience to his political agenda to elevate his power. Jiang Zemin thinks that even though the Politburo has different opinions about how to handle the issue of Falun Gong, its members must publicly express their support of him."
To forcibly push for his persecution of Falun Gong in the Politburo, Jiang Zemin used another tactic: on one hand, he tried his best to describe Falun Gong as a political group supported by the "overseas anti-China force;" on the other hand, he claimed that Falun Gong competes with the communist party for the hearts and minds of the people. After the grand appeal of April 25, 1999, Jiang wrote a letter to the standing members of the Politburo and other leaders. The letter included this statement, "It is hard to believe that communist party members who were armed with the theory of Marxism, materialism, and atheism cannot defeat the stuff spread by Falun Gong?"
The fundamental principle of a CCP member is that the interests of the Party are above the interests of humanity and all the moral standards of humankind. Threatened with the "Annihilation of the Party," other members of the Politburo became silent and yielded to Jiang, even though they did not support the persecution.
In addition, Jiang Zemin brought up fabricated charges that Falun Gong was a political group that was supported by the "overseas anti-China forces." He also realized another personal goal and managed to kill two birds with one stone. His personal decision to persecute Falun Gong practitioners would take on a special meaning--after the success of the persecution, he would become the person who saved the Party during a crisis and would therefore be given an important position in the history of Chinese Communist Party. Thus, the persecution of Falun Gong provided a golden opportunity for Jiang, who lacked and wanted to accumulate political capital and strengthen his position.
Jiang Zemin thought that a group like Falun Gong would immediately succumb at the beginning the persecution; thus the price would not be high. Moreover, the experience of conducting such persecutions accumulated over the years would be more than enough to make any resistor's life worse than death. Thus, a comprehensive persecution of Falun Gong, with all the machinery of the dictatorship, directed by Jiang, was launched. After the official Chinese Communist Party documents were issued to the various levels of the Chinese government, 100 million people (to be consistent with the principle of a "small group", the number of Falun Gong practitioners was officially reduced to 20 million) were classified as a "small group" of second class citizens who were stripped of all rights and freedoms granted by the constitution overnight. The whole country was then coerced to "support" the effort and "take orders" in persecuting practitioners. This persecution, which is all too familiar to anyone in China over 50 years old, has undoubtedly ripped open the deep national wounds from previous movements that had just begun to heal.

(Clearwisdom.net) At the end of December 2004, Xinhua News Agency, the mouthpiece of the CCP dictatorship, launched a slanderous attack on articles published on Minghui net describing the torture of practitioner Liao Yuanhua in Fanjiatai Prison.
No matter how skillful Jiang's group and the CCP have become in fabricating propaganda, when they produce new lies, people always have the same feeling: "Here it comes again." This is not only because of the stereotypical expressions used in the lies, but also because they fabricate lies in a sealed off environment, which is of the same nature as the lies themselves. The sealed off environment has been an important guarantee of safety for Jiang's group and the CCP in creating falsehoods and this has been most thoroughly demonstrated in their slandering and framing of Falun Gong for the past few years.
1. The sealed off production environment
All persons involved in creating lies--from the program producer, reporter, broadcaster to those directly concerned, from interviewees to their family members-- all are under the control of the CCP for their personal safety, their life, work, education and their future, and their only hope is to cooperate with the CCP. This is the essential feature of the sealed off environment
Cooking up slanderous news for Jiang's group and the CCP is regarded as a political task that is pressed down from level to level, and the people involved are all forced to make a choice between their conscience and their future personal benefits. Since the persecution of Falun Gong began, in order to attack Falun Gong the media has created a variety of characters and portrayed them as "committing suicide" or "killing people," etc. The general population has no access to these people; even if they could be contacted, what would you expect them to say when they and their families are all under the grip of the CCP?
In fact, the CCP does not even deny the existence of torture under its control. China's Justice Department made an appeal in 2004 calling for those concerned to investigate and deal with human rights violation cases due to inquisition by torture. Chen Yunsheng, a PhD degree supervisor at the Institute of Law, China's Academy of Social Sciences, after many years of investigation, acknowledges in his book Towards Human Rights and Ruling by Law - Anti-torture Analysis, that torture in China exists, and is often used as a means of extorting confessions. He further points out that the 13 severe forms of torture include brutal beating, hanging up and beating, cuffing hands behind the back, burning with a hot iron, electric shocking, half squatting, "dog biting", burning with cigarettes, kicking, poking private parts with a wooden stick, false execution by shooting, force-feeding human excrement and urine, and humiliation.
Labeled as the "No. 1 enemy" of Jiang's group and the CCP, Falun Gong practitioners are routinely subjected to brutal tortures in prison for upholding their beliefs. Apart from torture, Jiang's group and the CCP also adopt the policy of implication, wherein they force Falun Gong practitioners' work units and their family members as well as all other sectors of society to exert pressure on the practitioners. What credibility does news have when it is cooked up in such a sealed off environment?
2. Sealed off environment for public opinion
Jiang's group and the CCP suppress all dissenting voices, depriving the other side of any chance to speak by blocking the Internet, strictly searching for sites producing materials that clarify the truth, and handing out heavy sentences to those who tap into the TV system to broadcast the truth. They regard all those who are involved in such activities as "major cases" that must be dealt with ruthlessly.
Since July 1999 when Jiang's group started the persecution of Falun Gong, the Jiang group and the CCP's lifeline in continuing the persecution has depended on tightly blocking the truth about Falun Gong. Overseas Falun Gong websites are blocked, emails are filtered and personal letters intercepted and withheld. Falun Gong television programs and radio signals are interfered with and material production sites in Mainland China that produce truth-clarifying flyers are key targets of the CCP's attack. Falun Gong practitioners are not allowed to appeal or distribute truth-clarifying materials. Jiang's group and the CCP have exhausted their tactics in stopping Falun Gong practitioners from spreading the truth to people. Left with no other alternative, Falun Gong practitioners had to tap into the TV system to help the Chinese people get to know the truth. Jiang's group was furious and went so far as to order the police to "kill them without pardon." Under such orders, a number of people involved in the tapping were killed and the rest were sentenced to long terms in prison.
The web-magazine "Democracy Newsletter" published a report on November 22, 2004, in which the reporter recalled, "As usual, I turned on the TV after a walk, and I was shocked to see a scene [clarifying] the 'Tiananmen self-immolation' on a Beijing TV channel. By instinct, I knew that Falun Gong practitioners had once again successfully tapped into the TV system. The program went on for 2 to 3 minutes before it was abruptly cut off. However, the impact from these few minutes was unprecedented and beyond description."
This is the power of truth. Why is the CCP so frightened of the truth being spread and known to people? The reason is that the persecution of Falun Gong is completely based on lies, and to the CCP, the truth is the equivalent of atomic bombs exploding in their faces.
3. Sealed off brainwashing environment
With regard to the brainwashing by Jiang's group and the CCP, on the one hand it targets the public at large. In addition to the unscrupulous spread of lies through the mass media, the party and the youth league also arrange slanderous TV programs, speeches, exhibitions and forums at schools, government departments and various sectors in China as well among overseas Chinese social groups. During such activities, people are forced to write their understandings, to participate in political activities and declare their stance. On the other hand, it targets victims of the persecution. They abduct the victims to "study-classes" and "reform-classes" and force them to read slanderous materials, and at the same time, organize people specially assigned to attack the victims. The victims are deprived of sleep for long periods of time and as a result, they become confused and their thinking is disordered. They are confused about truth and falsehood and are brainwashed under high pressure. If they refuse to be brainwashed they will be tortured, fined and sentenced to forced labor or imprisonment. Even their family members are harassed and are allowed no peace.
Some of the people who are "Reformed" by the brainwashing are arranged by the CCP to go to the sealed off environment to produce "news", which is then transmitted to the masses via newspapers and TV in the sealed off environment for public opinion. These lies thus become the product of the brainwashing and continue to poison the minds of others.
4. Sealed off environment for thought
As for the people, under the circumstances where they have no way of knowing the truth, they are fed with lies and hatred year-in and year-out, and over a long period of time, form a certain mindset whether they trust or distrust the CCP; they become close-minded and reject the desire to learn the truth.
Some people claim that they believe neither the CCP nor Falun Gong, but when they talk about Falun Gong, their mind is full of lies made up by the CCP. This is because the lies of the CCP permeate all the mass media and people have become accustomed to finding out information from such media (the only media available to them.) Therefore, when the CCP slanders Falun Gong, people still consume the lies, even while thinking that they will not be influenced by the deceitful media. This close-minded way of thinking has allowed people to be influenced by the slanderous propaganda of the CCP for the last few years .Yet they still do not think that they are "being interfered" with, and when they receive a few e-mails clarifying the truth or watch a few minutes of truth-clarifying programs that tapped into the TV systems, they find it very hard to accept.
Since the onset of economic reforms, people feel that they now have a lot more freedom and a lot more contact and correspondence with the outside world. The CCP also reports some negative news in society from time to time. This gives people the false impression that the media has become "objective" and "fair." Consequently, people become more likely to believe the slanderous propaganda of the CCP against a particular group or an incident. In reality, Jiang's group and the CCP tightly filter what people are allowed to know and what they aren't allowed to know. They work out how to report negative news so that it can be used by the CCP for their own interest and how to report sudden incidents along the same line as Xinhua News Agency, etc. However, outwardly, they create a "relaxed" false image so the people cannot feel the adverse situation of the group being persecuted. The targeted group of the CCP's attack thus becomes isolated and their situation becomes even worse. The so-called "open information" in Mainland China is in fact completely closed, and it is under the total control of the CCP behind the scenes. This is precisely the evilness of the artifice of the CCP in cooking up lies.
Any small opening in this sealed off system will be a fatal blow to the lies of the Jiang group and the CCP. Such an opening is provided by the numerous anti-torture exhibits held overseas that are based on information and personal experiences of Falun Gong practitioners in Mainland China. These exhibits have powerfully exposed the human rights abuses by Jiang's group and the CCP in their persecution of Falun Gong practitioners.

Summary
Since the persecution began on July 20, 1999, the Chinese government has arrested and beaten Falun Gong practitioners throughout China, ransacked their homes, burned their Falun Gong books, and adopted immoral and vicious means to frame and slander Falun Gong, among other vicious tactics designed to wipe out Falun Gong.
When I went to visit my parents, they were not happy to see me and acted as if they did not like me. In fact, I felt that they really hated me. They would not accept the presents I gave them, nor did they want me to step into their house. It was this way every time I visited them. It was extremely painful to me. What should I do? What was the right way to show my love for them? What was the right way to treat them?
After studying the Fa, I came to realize that I wanted to be a genuine cultivator and follow what Master requires of us. Only by acting according to the standard of a practitioner could I exhibit my affection for my parents. Letting my parents know that all Falun Gong practitioners are good people is my way of genuinely treating them well. Since I gained this understanding, I have no longer held a grudge against them for their misunderstanding. As a result, my parents soon changed their attitude towards me and since then, they have treated me very well whenever I visit. They escort me out when I leave them. My mother said, "Come back home whenever you have time and you do not need to bring anything. We know you do not have any money." I have really felt the mighty power of Master's compassion and Dafa. With the improvement of my xinxing (mind nature), I soon broke through that level of having strong sentiments toward my parents.
I was illegally arrested, detained, and imprisoned many times. During the illegal detention, the police, when they beat practitioners, said that they were helping the practitioners eliminate their karma and uplift their xinxing. I understood that they could only commit sins and accumulate karma. They are not qualified to remove karma for others nor could they uplift others' xinxing. Only Master can bear this for practitioners and sentient beings and eliminate their karma. I have realized that sentient beings should not commit crimes against Dafa, since I know that the ones who do evil against Dafa will go down into the gate of no-life. Because I hold this thought, during the several years of persecution, no one has dared to beat or curse me, slander Master and Dafa in front of me, and no one has dared to force me to write the so-called Guarantee Letters [which are used by the government to indicate a practitioner's giving up the practice of Falun Gong]. Since I have such righteous thoughts from the bottom of my heart, no one is allowed to treat me this way.

Greeting to dear Master! Greeting to fellow practitioners around the world!
In looking back on my cultivation during the five years of the Fa-rectification period, I have experienced the very cruel persecution in China. But with Master's benevolent salvation and protection, I have gone through the tribulations despite tremendous pressure.
Since July 20, 1999, an all-out persecution of Dafa has started throughout China. The police arrested and beat Falun Gong practitioners, ransacked their homes, gave them jail sentences, sent them to labor camps, forced them to hand in their Falun Gong books, destroyed Dafa books, and resorted to immoral and vicious means to frame and slander Falun Gong. Under tremendous pressure from the police, my employer, and my family members, I felt as if I could barely breathe. I kept pondering whether I should continue my cultivation or not. Master told us in the poem, "Being Calm in Tribulation" from Hong Yin,
"The righteous Fa is being spread, Difficulties on top of difficulties. Tens of thousands of demons in the way, Dangers within dangers."
Since I had studied the Fa a lot at that time, Master's Fa kept coming to my mind, which helped me to make up my mind to follow Master and not give up Dafa. Since then, I have strengthened my resolve to follow Master and continue my cultivation until the end, no matter how huge the pressure is.

B. Completely negating the old cosmic forces and resisting the persecution
On November 1, 1999, I boarded the train to go to Beijing to appeal. There were four to five of us traveling together. One fellow practitioner was stopped by the police at the train station and gave the police information about the rest of us who were traveling with her. So the police found us and took us back when we were only half-way to Beijing. At the end of December, I again went to Beijing to peacefully appeal. I unfurled a banner on Tiananmen Square. While I held up the banner, I loudly shouted, "Falun Dafa is great!" I went to Beijing many times to safeguard the Fa. I was illegally arrested, detained, and imprisoned many times.
When they beat practitioners during the illegal detention, the police said that they were helping the practitioners eliminate their karma and raise their xinxing. I understood that the police could only commit sins and accumulate karma this way. They are not qualified to remove karma for others nor could they uplift others' xinxing. Only Master can bear this for practitioners and sentient beings and eliminate their karma. I have realized that sentient beings should not commit crimes against Dafa, since I know that the ones who do evil against Dafa will go down into the gate of no-life. So during the several years of persecution, no one has dared to beat or curse me, slander Master and Dafa in front of me, and no one has dared to force me to write the so-called Guarantee Letters. Since as I have such righteous thoughts from the bottom of my heart, no one is allowed to treat me this way.
I also saw that the police utilized this opportunity to extort money from Dafa practitioners. The police asked the practitioners' family members or their employers to give them money. The practitioners would be released if the money was received. I thought that I should not indulge the police in their committing these crimes. I understood that I could not use money in exchange for the freedom to cultivate. After this thought of mine was set, my family members did not give the police any money, but the police released me nonetheless.
On July 16, 2000, I went to Beijing again to validate Dafa. The police arrested more than twenty practitioners and me at a fellow practitioner's home. They took us to a police station in a district of Beijing. They asked everyone for his or her name and home address. When I saw that some practitioners were beaten so badly that they cried out in extreme pain, I started reciting continuously, in my heart,
"Grand talk counts for naught when it comes to life and death,
Actions reveal what is true."

I asked myself whether I went there to validate Dafa or to just blindly follow the crowd. Now that I had come to validate Dafa, all my words and actions must be in accordance with Dafa and I must follow what Master has told us. After I had this righteous thought, I felt very relieved in my mind. No policemen questioned me. Later, Master said,
"I can tell you that if a person doesn't have that much karma, he absolutely won't have tribulations that severe. You should clearheadedly distinguish personal cultivation from evil's persecution of the Fa. "

I have realized that if I do not have that strong of an attachment to fear and other human notions, there would be no increase of self-imposed tribulations, as Master's Law body is always with me.
At that time, I felt that Master was watching me and seeing if I had a sincere heart. Master would do anything for me if I had a righteous mind. I understood that no matter what methods the old forces resort to, such as beating and interrogation, they do not want anything that is tangible. What they really want is to know whether a Dafa practitioner will continue to practice Falun Gong or not. Therefore, in all circumstances, whenever the police questioned me, I always refused to cooperate with them. I said to them that it did not matter how or why I went there and with whom, since these were not what they were concerned about, and that what they were really concerned about was whether I would continue my cultivation or not. I then told the police, "I am determined to follow 'Truth-Compassion-Tolerance' and to assimilate myself to 'Truth-Compassion-Tolerance'."
In the latter part of July, I received Master's article of "An Announcement" [now in Essentials for Further Advancement II] from a fellow practitioner. I thus understood that I should clarify the truth to the ordinary person and expose the vicious persecution of Dafa. I started to clarify the truth to people. I went out to hang banners, post notices on walls with Scotch tape, and deliver truth-clarification materials to people's homes. Once when we went to hang a banner, the police saw us. They chased us. I told my fellow practitioner not to be frightened or anxious. The two of us went in different directions. The police could not find us and then left the area. So under Master's protection, we escaped safely. We had broken through the persecution.
In March 2001, during the 16th National Conference of the People's Congress in China, some of the people in charge wanted to abduct me and send me to a brainwashing "class." I refused to go because I thought that there were still many people waiting to learn the truth of Falun Dafa. As the brainwashing classes are the places where the old forces have arranged to persecute Dafa practitioners, I was determined that I would not go. In the end, they did not succeed in sending me.
At the end of June 2001, when I was posting Dafa materials on the wall of an apartment building, a security person who was at the gate caught me. Through pulling and dragging, he managed to get me into the security office. He used an electric baton to touch the table, and the baton emitted sparks. It was clear that he intended to shock me with the baton. My heart beat hard, but then I had the thought that I should not get frightened and I remembered Master's words,
"If a cultivator can let go of the thought of life and death under any circumstance, evil is sure to be afraid of him. If every student is able to do this, evil will of itself no longer exist. All of you are already aware of the principle of mutual-generation and mutual-inhibition. If you are not afraid, the factor that would make you afraid will cease to exist. This is not to be self-imposed, but is achieved by truly and calmly letting go of it."

When I calmed down, I started to tell the police officer how Falun Gong teaches people to be good, and how the government framed and slandered Falun Gong on television. He said, " Now I understand. You can go and continue your work. Also, please put some Dafa materials on our leader's vehicle." He then let me go.
On July 9, 2001, I was arrested for printing truth-clarification materials. I was detained in Qingdao City's Dashan Detention Center. I searched within myself, following what Master has required of us, and found that I still had the attachments of jealousy and showing-off. I saw that these loopholes were taken advantage of by the evil. Was it the case that my having such an impure mindset had given the old forces an excuse to persecute me? I understood that whether the old forces imposed it upon me or if there existed loopholes in me, I would not accept this kind of persecution. No matter what circumstances I was in, I should just do well what Master has required of me. So every day I sent forth righteous thoughts, practiced the exercises, and clarified the truth to the inmates. I thought that I should not be here in detention, and that I must go out and clarify the truth and save people. Therefore, under the protection of Master, I left the detention center in an upright and dignified manner.
On December 28, 2001, I was arrested while I was at a fellow practitioner's home. One month later, I was sent to Zibo City's Wangcun Village and given an illegal two-year forced labor sentence. After I arrived at the camp, I kept sending forth righteous thoughts and at the same time looking into myself to try to find in what aspects I had not done well enough and in which areas I had acknowledged the old forces' arrangements. When several former practitioners who had gone astray came to brainwash me, I immediately understood that I should turn my warped post-natal notions into the righteous thoughts of assimilating myself with "Truth-Compassion-Tolerance," rather than compromise with the evil. My righteous thoughts then became very strong. I sternly questioned the collaborators: "Why do you twist Dafa and engage in the so-called exposing and criticizing Master? Before the persecution started, why had not you said anything negative about Master? You act this way because you are afraid of the persecution and brainwashing. You are not protecting Dafa." They did not say a word.
The guards came in next. I remembered what Master said in "A Suggestion," (Essentials for Further Advancement II).
"Those who do the so-called 'reform' work, too, are people who have been deceived. Why not turn the tables and expose the evil and clarify the truth to them? I suggest that all students who they are trying to forcefully reform (this excludes those who haven't been taken away for reform) expose the evil and clarify the truth to those people who are doing the reform work, and tell them about the cause and effect relationship of 'good and evil always have consequences.' It is the evil that is afraid of people knowing the truth of the situation, not Dafa disciples."
The guards told me how good the environment there was. I questioned them, "Isn't this the place where Zhou Songtao from Qingdao City was tortured to death?" I then told them about the staged Tiananmen Square Self-Immolation Incident. After I finished, the guards left without saying a word. With Master's protection, I used my mighty righteous thoughts to eliminate all the evil elements in the other dimensions that were persecuting me. So I walked out of the detention center in an upright and dignified manner in two days. I again plunged myself into the torrent of Fa-rectification.
On my cultivation path, I have generally felt calm, though there were also frustrations. As I have a determined faith in Master, from the bottom of my heart, nothing can ever force me to give up "Truth-Compassion-Tolerance."
Master said,
"Isn't there a saying among people that, 'You have your thousand brilliant ideas, but I have my own way'? In other words, Dafa disciples need to realize what they're doing. [You] must keep clearheaded about whether something is related to validating the Fa or not." ("Teaching the Fa at the 2003 Atlanta Fa Conference")
During my cultivation in the Fa-rectification period, several big tribulations have made me become even more clear-headed, rational, and determined. At the same time, many of my attachments and warped notions were eliminated. I came to understand that to completely negate the old forces, we must be very strict with ourselves, study the Fa more and with our hearts, pay attention to sending forth righteous thoughts. We must use Dafa to guide ourselves, and follow what Master has required of us. We will completely negate the old forces' arrangements and walk every step well. I will keep striving forward with righteous thoughts and actions. We will live up to Master's teachings and expectations and we will not let the sentient beings down. We will not fail in accomplishing our vows and hopes.
This is just my personal understanding. Please point out anything that is improper.

(Clearwisdom.net) After reading "Exposing the Role of the Chinese Communist Party in the Persecution of Falun Gong Is Saving Sentient Beings" (http://www.clearwisdom.net/emh/articles/2004/12/4/55239.html), I enlightened to many things.
I remember my Fa study experience one day at the end of 2000. I was studying "Your Mind Must Be Right" in Zhuan Falun.
"Usually, when there are many evil spirits in other dimensions, my fashen will clean them out for you. His room, however, was full of different bad qigong books. He came to understand it and cleaned it up by burning the books or selling them. My fashen then returned. This is what this practitioner told me."
At that point I looked around my room and thought, "I do not have Qigong books." But I saw the books about the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) that I used to collect. I like reading books, and I was polluted by the environment in Mainland China. It was "natural" that I accepted these books. After I obtained the Fa I came to understand that these theories, such as the philosophy of struggle, the theory of fight between social classes and the theory of proletariat dictatorship are against the universal principle of "Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance." To be a true Dafa practitioner I need to get rid of everything that is not righteous. Therefore I burned some of the books and sold others, including the books my father used to read.
On April 25, 1999, I participated in the appeal at Zhongnanhai and in 2000 I went to Beijing two times to validate Dafa. At the end of 2000, I was expelled from the CCP, but I was not moved and continued my cultivation. As far as I know, at one neighborhood office, among the dozen or so practitioners who were jailed there for going to Beijing to validate Dafa during that time, there were 6 or 7 CCP members. During the illegal detention, they were brutally beaten, hung up, handcuffed, forced to stand under the sun, tortured in other ways, and fined from 1,000 to 6,000 yuan before they were allowed to go home. They were later expelled from the CCP. All of them were over 50 years old. In the first half of their lives they worked hard with no complaints and they were the role models at work. You can see from this that the CCP does not have any humanity. It is a purely evil spirit of "Deceitfulness, Hatred and Strife."
We understand from the Fa principles that this is Fa rectification cultivation, which is different from any religious cultivation or belief. We Dafa disciples coexist in the world with Master during Fa rectification. We are undertaking the great historic task of eliminating evil, clarifying the truth, and saving beings. But, in this world, this "dark spirit from the west" - the CCP - is still poisoning people.
Jiang and the CCP use each other to persecute Falun Gong. It is a manifestation of the crimes conducted by the evil spirit in this world. Only by eliminating this evil ghost can we save beings faster and more extensively. After realizing this, when I sent forth righteous thoughts one morning at 6:00 a.m. two weeks ago, I added one thought: "to dissolve the CCP evil ghost, and to dissolve and eliminate the evil field of the CCP in this world." Perhaps because my righteous thoughts were not strong enough, I was attacked by the evil. One morning I was on the bus to my mother's home when suddenly I felt a pain in my lower back. I could not stand straight, but I forced myself to stand upright anyway. When I went home in the afternoon I lay down and could not turn my body. I felt it was interference. I struggled to get up, practiced the exercises, sent forth righteous thoughts on the top of every hour, and continued to practice after sending forth righteous thoughts. Two hours later I could turn my body, but I still could not stand straight. My lower back was stiff and numb. For the next several days I spent more time studying the Fa and managed to eliminate a deep and unconscious thought - my human notion that to offend the CCP is to be involved in politics. I grasped the basic point that to eliminate evil is to save beings. One week later, the symptoms in my lower back totally disappeared. I felt that my body has recovered and is very light.
The above is what I have enlightened to at my level. Any compassionate suggestions are welcome.
(Clearwisdom.net) I continuously corrected my thoughts with the teachings and principles of Falun Dafa. Finally one thought emerged with great strength: I must negate all the arrangements made by the evil old forces and completely eliminate the dark minions and rotten ghosts at the low levels. A Falun Dafa practitioner's path cannot include acceptance of being sent to a forced labor camp, leaving home to avoid persecution, or even awaiting trial while on bail. I must go home openly and in dignity. I must walk the most righteous path. I asked Teacher to help me and strengthen me. Suddenly, I felt strong energy surging inside of my body.
Around 9 o'clock in the morning of October 15, 2004, over twenty police officers from the city police department, district police bureau, and local police station broke into my home and searched the place. At first, I was alarmed by the sudden event, but my mind was clear. I decided not to cooperate with them. So I calmed down and sent forth righteous thoughts continuously. I refused to sign any papers, and denied all their demands.
I looked into their eyes without any fear. They found an article I had written, in which I recounted my experiences of being persecuted since July 20, 1999. The police also confiscated Teacher's photo, new articles, and some Falun Gong truth-clarification CDs. They ordered me to go to the police station with them, but I resolutely refused. I continued to send forth righteous thoughts in close proximity and asked Teacher to strengthen me. After almost three hours, I still resisted with righteous thoughts, and refused to go with them. At noon, when all the Falun Dafa practitioners around the world started to send forth righteous thoughts, the police no longer acted as rampant as before. Their attitudes were also more restrained. At 12:15 p.m., however, they abducted me and took me to the local police station.
I continued to clear my thoughts, and sent forth righteous thoughts at the police station. At around 2:00 p.m., about six police officers started interrogating me. I refused to answer any of their questions or sign any papers. I only told them how I have benefited from Falun Dafa and the truth about Falun Dafa. I advised them to believe that doing good would be rewarded and evil will meet with retribution. I was sent to the city's No. 2 Detention Center at around 6 o'clock in the evening.
Looking back at this painful experience, I found my own loopholes, which led to my arrest. On the surface, I was being followed as I delivered Falun Dafa materials to other practitioners, and one practitioner reported me to the police under pressure. This practitioner also provided the police with two testimonies. Thus the police persecuted me using them as excuses. Searching for the deeper reason, I realized a relaxing and slackening of vigilance occurred as Fa-rectification progressed and a more relaxing environment prevailed. The dark minions thus used this to hinder practitioners in several ways. The evil prevented practitioners from doing the three things well by causing practitioners to not have enough time to study the Fa, be drowsy all the time, lack righteous thoughts, or have impure righteous thoughts. The evil took advantage of my slackening in vigilance. That was because I had deeply concealed my selfishness. When the evil was rampant, I paid close attention to sending forth righteous thoughts. In doing so, I secretly wanted to protect myself using Dafa. The change in environment exposed my attachment. I met my tribulation because the evil took advantage of my loophole. Finding my own loopholes made me realize that the dark minions took every chance to interfere with Dafa practitioners. I became more aware of the seriousness of Fa-rectification and cultivation during the Fa-rectification period. Teacher said:
"At this point only about five percent of the original dark minions are left, and very few of the gods who have played a negative role in Fa-rectification still remain. But they are still playing a wicked role within the mechanisms arranged in the past by the old forces. So in validating the Fa, no matter what the situation is, none of you should let down your guard, and when it comes to what a Dafa disciple should do, you should keep giving your best."

Dafa practitioners must do the three things well no matter where they are. Practitioners clarify the truth about Falun Gong wherever they go because everyone they come across is a sentient being waiting to be saved. Two other practitioners were in the same cell as I in the detention center. We exchanged our understandings and formed one body. We used every opportunity to tell the truth about Falun Gong to other detainees. By the time I left, most of the detainees (over 30 people) understood the truth. Some indicated that they would start practicing once they got out. Some already started practicing, and they recited Hong Yin every day.
When I first arrived at the detention center, those two practitioners asked me to teach them the latest articles from Teacher. But I did not memorize them. I did not memorize any new articles from Teacher, so I could not recite to them. I was very ashamed and regretted deeply not using my time well to study and memorize the Fa. I finally understood how practitioners yearned for Teacher's teaching in this evil environment. With their righteous thoughts and actions, the two practitioners in the detention center had already established an environment in which we could study and practice. They taught me to recite articles from Teacher. We had a fixed time to recite Teacher's articles every day, without any interference. I memorized articles "Stop the Evil Acts with Righteous Thoughts" and "Eliminate the Dark Minions With Righteous Thoughts." I recited them over and over, and I enlightened to how to behave in a prison. Other than reciting the Fa and clarifying the truth everyday, I made an effort to finish all five sets of exercises, and used the rest of my time to send forth righteous thoughts. I increased the frequency of sending forth righteous thoughts, while ensuring the quality when I did it.
"... as long as that wicked person keeps being violent, keep sending righteous thoughts." (from "Stop the Evil Acts with Righteous Thoughts")
While in the detention center, I was interrogated by officials from the city police department and the district police bureau several times. I never answered their questions directly, as they wanted me to tell them the sources of my Falun Dafa materials. I talked with them calmly with gentle expression on my face, but I did not give in a bit. I talked about lessons learned from all the previous political campaigns in China. I talked about the causal relations of doing good versus evil, and I encouraged them to take responsibility for their own futures. One time, some officials from the district police bureau interrogated me. Under a stack of so-called evidence, I saw a document stating that I was to be sent to a forced labor camp. I immediately pointed out to them, "If you are here to interrogate me and want me to provide so-called evidence so that you can send me to a forced labor camp, you won't get a word out of me." Since their plot was exposed, they said I could easily be sentenced to several years in prison, not to mention forced labor camp. I said in my heart, "Whatever you say does not count, only my Teacher's words count." I looked them in the eyes and sent forth righteous thoughts. My thoughts at the time was that I had caused a big loss in Dafa due to my loopholes, and no matter how big the tribulation was, I must maintain righteous thoughts and actions to the end, and I must walk out of the evil den.
I refused to accept any of the arrangements from the evil, no matter if it was being sent to a forced labor camp or being released on bail to await trial. For practitioners during the Fa-rectification period, "waiting for trial" is an insult to Dafa, and "being released on bail" not only means financial losses but also means family members are used as hostages. This is not the path Teacher has arranged for us. Teacher has explained negating the old forces' arrangements on many occasions. In "Teaching the Fa at the 2004 Chicago Conference," Teacher said,
"When you encounter ordeals during your cultivation, you have got to cultivate yourself and look at yourself--that doesn't mean acknowledging the ordeals arranged by the old forces and trying to do well amidst the ordeals they've arranged, that's not the case. We negate even the very emergence of the old forces and everything that they've arranged; we don't even acknowledge their existence. We're fundamentally negating all of their things, and all of, and only, the things you do while negating and getting rid of them is mighty-virtue. It's not that you're cultivating amidst the ordeals they created. Rather, you are to walk your own path well while not acknowledging them, not even acknowledging the elimination of their ordeals' manifestations. (Applause) So looking at it from this angle, what we need to do is completely negate the old forces. Dafa disciples and I don't even acknowledge the manifestations of their last-ditch efforts." ("Teaching the Fa at the 2004 Chicago Conference")

I must go home openly and with dignity. I asked Teacher to help me and strengthen me. Suddenly, I felt strong energy surging inside of my body.
By the time I had this thought, I had been detained for over three weeks at the detention center. Once I had a clear goal, I was more focused, calm, and steadfast when studying the Fa and sending forth righteous thoughts. One day, someone asked me, "Few practitioners who were detained here were able get out. Other than being 'transformed,' most of them were sent to either forced labor camps or brainwashing centers. Do you think you can get out?" I said I could and I was sure. In addition, I enlightened that I would be released before a month was up. On day 30, I started to prepare my belongings and get ready to go home, but I was not released. On the next day, nothing happened. I became a little troubled, but I immediately clamed down and told myself that I could not give up because the evil was eyeing me covetously and a single thought that was not aligned with the Fa could be taken advantage of. Thus I looked within myself for loopholes. As it turned out, I had a strong attachment of pursuing getting out while sending forth righteous thoughts. My thoughts were not pure enough. I asked myself, "Would you send forth righteous thoughts for so long and so frequently if it was not because you wanted to get out?" Teacher said,
"...the person got out of there to expose the evil because she could no longer endure it, and her pursuit of getting out was really an attachment that she wasn't able to let go." ("Master's Fa Taught in the International Teleconference")
Although I did not yield to the evil, I had a strong attachment to getting out and going home. I was using Dafa as protection. Therefore, I let go of my attachment and did well in whatever I needed to do. One day I was not released was just another day I would eliminate evil and validate the Fa here.
"A Great Enlightened Being does not fear hardship
Having forged an adamantine will
And with no attachment to living or dying
He walks his path of Fa-rectification openly and nobly"("Righteous Thoughts and Righteous Actions")
When I sent forth righteous thoughts again, my heart became more pure and more steadfast, and my mind was clearer. Not only did I have the thought of eliminating the dark minions and rotten ghosts that were persecuting me, I thought more of completely eliminating all the evil factors that persecute Dafa and Dafa practitioners. Later, with a suggestion from fellow practitioners, I wrote, "Falun Dafa is Good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance is Good" on the walls.
After one month and three days, I was released unconditionally. The agency that handled my case took me home using a police vehicle from the provincial police bureau. I came home in an open and dignified manner. Once again, I experienced the solemnity and magnificence of Dafa, the merciful benevolence of Teacher, and the vastness of the Buddha's grace. I had the personal understanding of what Teacher said.
"Master and Disciple do not speak of sentiment
The grace of Buddha manifests as heaven and earth
With sufficient righteous thoughts from Disciple
Master has great powers to move heavens"(draft translation of "Grace of Master to Disciples" from Hong Yin II)
After I came home, I learned that many practitioners who knew of my arrest had been sending forth righteous thoughts for me. Especially after the Minghui.org website (the Chinese version of Clearwisdom.net website) reported my situation, there were many practitioners helping and supporting me in silence. I was moved to tears. I felt the power of the whole body of Dafa disciples.
The reason I wrote about this tribulation of mine is to warn my fellow practitioners who have the same problem I had. At this final stage of Fa-rectification, we cannot slacken in our vigilance and allow the evil to take advantage of our weak spots caused by our lack of control. Let us concentrate our energy in better helping Teacher to rectify the Fa and save sentient beings. We should fulfill the vows we made long ago and complete our sacred mission as Dafa disciples.
(Clearwisdom.net) I have enlightened to the fact that the power of a righteous mind is directly proportional to how strong our belief and righteous faith in Teacher are. At a critical moment, a momentary slip will make a big difference. With righteous thoughts and actions, cultivators can overcome any trouble.
During November 2002, our truth-clarifying materials were everywhere and it brought fear to those who acted viciously. The city 610 Office and National Security Bureau Superintendent, together with the local police station, had insanely persecuted Dafa practitioners. My husband and I were the key targets. One morning in the beginning of November, four policemen broke into my house. They rummaged through chests and cupboards, and confiscated many of my family's valuables. We did not cooperate with them and exposed their evil persecution to bystanders. We received support from the bystanders, who condemned the police's illegal actions. In the end, the police abducted both of us.
When we arrived at the police station, as if by prior agreement, my husband and I simultaneously began a hunger strike. During the three days and nights we were interrogated, our righteous minds and acts foiled their plots one by one. The police tried using force and deception, but were not able to get a word out of us. We just told them the facts about Falun Gong. Having gotten nothing from us, the police sent us to a detention center, where we continued our hunger strike. The director of the detention center understood us. In the past three years, we had been in and out of the detention center more than 10 times. Our righteous words and deeds were well known by the policemen in the detention center, and they repeatedly conveyed to us their respect. I told them the reasons why we were being unreasonably abducted and how we were being forced to give confession through torture. The detention center director was very upset and swore at the CCP, saying that they would lose the people's hearts if they continued like this. He urged me to take care of myself and eat something. I explained to him clearly that the purpose of our hunger strike was to protest Jiang and his followers' persecution, and we demanded to be released unconditionally. We hoped that he would help secure our release. Earlier, the police had informed me that the 610 Office was planning to send me to the City Brainwashing Center. I sent forth righteous thoughts while talking to him and rejected all the evil arrangements of the old forces. Under Teacher's protection and with righteous minds, my husband and I were released, leading to their first attempt to brainwash us to be in vain.
In October of 2003, they again planned to send me to the city brainwashing class. Some practitioners asked me to hide, but I was very calm and my righteous mind was very strong. I truly believed that Teacher and I had the final say on this, not the old forces. Teacher said,
"There are two circumstances in which they can't touch a Dafa disciple. One is that he is rock-solid. They don't dare touch him, because they know at that time that if this disciple has taken a righteous path and conducted himself well and someone still dares to persecute him, it doesn't matter if they're the old forces or what the old principles are--I absolutely won't spare them. There are countless righteous Gods by my side, too! I also have countless Law Bodies who do Fa-rectification. My only concern is that Dafa disciples themselves won't be firm inside; when there's some kind of attachment, some kind of fear, or what not, then the old forces see it and take advantage of the omissions and persecute them." (Touring North America to Teach the Fa)
I told my fellow practitioners, "I truly feel that they dare not touch me. Why do I need to hide? I have not done anything wrong, I'm just righteously practicing cultivation."
At around eight o'clock the next morning, a total of eight people, including two officials led by a police car from the 610 Office, came to my home. They told me to pack and get ready to follow them. While I was seating them in my home, I calmly said to them, "I am definitely not going to the brainwashing center! Please give up what you came here for." A thug from the 610 Office answered, "You have been designated by the city to go to the brainwashing class, and you have to go even if you don't want to." I said, "You do not have the final say, my Teacher and I have the final say. I practice Falun Gong to obtain good health and be a good person, hasn't the persecution I have suffered in the past four years been enough?"
I kept sending forth righteous thoughts while I explained to them the consequences of their actions. I told them that by doing this, they had increased the economic burden of their work unit by assigning two people just to monitor me, not to mention the karma that they are accumulating. My office director was moved after hearing this and said, "The work unit is indeed very short-handed, but I have no other choice. If you refuse to go, the police station will send someone and force you to go." I said, "You don't have to worry about that. They do not have the final say, I do. I will take full responsibility for this case. You just have to cooperate with me." Quietly they agreed. One of them said, "Since the police station has not sent anyone yet, you may as well talk to us about Falun Gong." I was happy for their understanding and proceeded to tell them about Falun Gong.
At about 10 pm, three policemen arrived, but I was very confident and never felt so calm. I told them, "I tell you that I am definitely not going to the brainwashing center, none of you will be able to touch me today." My tone was very firm. I then told them how I was persecuted in the past few years, and after listening for a while the policemen went outside. A little later the director of the unit went outside as well. My child continuously sent forth righteous thoughts the whole time. I stood up, and through the window I saw that the policemen and the director were making phone calls. I guessed that they were reporting the situation to their supervisors. Seeing that they were furiously pacing back and forth, I realized that this should not continue. I could not leave anything for the evil to take advantage of. I told my child, "We have to send forth righteous thoughts to send them away." Immediately after we sent righteous thoughts, they suddenly looked like they received their orders and drove away. This was the second time I rejected the evil's arrangements with righteous thoughts.
In March 2004, a leader in my work unit secretly told me that I had to be careful, "The 610 Office has notified the unit to prepare personnel and funding to send you to a brainwashing center." I was quite doubtful when I heard this news. Teacher said,
"When a tribulation arrives, if you, a disciple, can truly maintain an unshakable calm or be determined to meet different requirements at different levels, this should be sufficient for you to pass the test. If it continues endlessly and if no other problems exist in your xinxing or conduct, it must be that demons are capitalizing on a weak spot caused by your lack of control." (Expounding on The Fa)
At that time my heart was very firm and truly unmoved. Even when the police arrived, I did not have even a slight fluctuation. Why did the same tribulation happen again? I carefully investigated my xinxing and behavior to try to find the problem . I would not have known if I had not looked inside. I was shocked to find out that even though at that time I sent forth-righteous thoughts to deny the vicious arrangement of the old forces, the old force did not give up. They watched us carefully to find our loopholes. Normally, especially when I meditated, in my mind I always thought, "What would I do if I were being arrested? How would I validate Dafa?" In this way, didn't I unconsciously acknowledge the old forces? After I became enlightened to this fact, I began to send forth righteous thoughts to negate the vicious arrangements of the old forces. We should pay attention to eliminate this thought, and we should not allow our minds to run wild. Since then, the 610 Office has not brought up the topic of the brainwashing center. Once again I negated the arrangements made by the old forces.
Through these three personal experiences, I am truly convinced of the power of the Fa, and at critical moments, we are the ones who have the final say. Teacher's compassionate protection has always encouraged me to strive forward diligently on the path of Fa rectification.

I traveled from Taiwan to Manhattan to participate in Fa-Rectification activities for a month. Since I was already familiar with the situation in Manhattan, I was quick to catch on. Upon our arrival in Manhattan, we were assigned to participate in an anti-torture exhibition because many people were needed. In the first few days I was to play one of the people being tortured. The first time, a fellow practitioner helping with makeup advised me about some details I should take note of. I listened carefully and paid attention to my every act and earnestly did what I was supposed to do. After I was finished with my part of the exhibition, a fellow practitioner ran to me and told me that the performance was so moving; it brought lots of people to tears - including the practitioner herself. The questions passers-by frequently asked included, "Are the people real?" and "Did that really happen?" Many people took photos of the anti-torture exhibition. I told the practitioner that I only did what any Dafa disciple should have done.
The cold and dry weather, combined with the makeup, made almost the skin on almost all the performers' faces crack. Some practitioners, including me, did not want to perform any more. Some shortened their performance time, or some went away to do other things. After we had an experience sharing meeting and searched within ourselves, we understood that only by letting go of human thoughts and fears could we correctly walk the path of a Dafa disciple during Fa-rectification. We knew that however cold we were and no matter how much pain we were feeling, the suffering was still no match compared with the suffering of disciples in Mainland China being persecuted and even being tortured to death. This cold also tested whether everybody was firm in the Fa. As one body, practitioners had a common understanding after the sharing. In the following days, there was no more peeling skin or pain, and our facial skin became better and smoother. The weather was not as cold anymore, either. It is really true that however much we let go of, that is what Master will help remove. However much we give, that is how much we will receive.
Manhattan is the commercial center of the world. Every day, people are busy with money and personal gain. The lifestyle is very fast-paced. People shuttle back and forth on the subway and on the streets. The old forces put all the evil in Manhattan, and let the people wallow in self-concern. They become indifferent to their surroundings and become arrogant. However, through the efforts of Dafa disciples' truth-clarification, they have gradually learned the truth and become more compassionate. Our anti-torture exhibitions are placed in spots where there are lots of people, or in tourist places. Some people stop and take a look when they pass by the exhibition. They learn about the current brutal situation in China. Some of them weep and try to help us. There are also some visitors from various places who take pictures and say that they will bring the scenes of the exhibition back home to their families and show how such brutal things still go on in the 21st century in China. Others have offered to give us money. We always reply that we do not take money, and that we came from Taiwan to Manhattan where other Falun Dafa practitioners from around the world have also come. Our goal is to tell everyone that there are people in China who practice Falun Gong, and simply because they are being good people following "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance," they are persecuted by the CCP and Jiang's regime. Many have died as a result of the persecution. As of now there are a lot of people who are still detained in labor camps. We hope that the people of Manhattan will understand the truth and will pass on the truth of the persecution to more people.
Dafa disciples are one body. Only with the power of one body can we do the things in Fa-rectification well. This can be reflected in many ways. It requires the whole body to raise their levels, as well as the letting go of one's own notions. We need to search within for everything. The "next person's things are also my things," as Master has said, and we need to look after one another. In places where another practitioner may not have done very well, we need to try our best to fill in. Dafa disciples are validating Dafa, not validating themselves. If everyone can do well, the evil will self-destruct and will not be able to cause any more trouble.
Upholding righteous thoughts is very important. One time the transportation for the exhibition materials arrived late. Everyone then wanted to prepare so quickly, that we all forgot to send forth righteous thoughts. Soon a police officer came and asked us to show the permit or else leave immediately. At that time I realized that this was caused by evil interference from other dimensions. Dafa disciples are doing the work of offering salvation to living beings. What Dafa disciples say counts; how can the evil interfere and take control? I immediately told everyone to send forth righteous thoughts. At the same time a fellow practitioner clarified the truth to the officer. Later, the police officer wanted to talk with the coordinator. I told the officer to come back later. The officer never came back after leaving. Through later experience sharing and searching within ourselves, we realized that a cultivator is not a common person. We are here to offer beings salvation. That is a part of cultivation, not a job. A Dafa disciple's mission is to clarify the truth and save sentient beings. As long as people understand and realize the truth, they will have a chance to be saved.
This trip to Manhattan allowed me to find and realize attachments that would otherwise have stayed hidden and left unrealized. I quickly understood that these were human thoughts and fundamental attachments. Though sharing experiences with fellow practitioners and searching within, I quickly found my shortcomings and corrected them.
Fifteen practitioners from cities including Taipei, Tainan, Kaohsiung and Pingtung left for Manhattan on October 20, 2004. One of the practitioners was a monk. Even though we did not know each other well since we came from different places, everyone's mindset was very pure and righteous. Everyone only had the wish of helping in Fa-rectification and offering salvation to people in Manhattan. We quickly got to know each other, formed one body and cooperated well with each other. Generally, from the mornings' handing out of newspapers and fliers to the anti-torture exhibition, all were done very well. It didn't matter whether the day was cloudless or rainy. We were always there. We carried out our goal in coming here, the sacred mission of "clarifying the truth, offering salvation to living beings." Every activity we participated in was done according to the standards of a cultivator: always putting others before oneself, always considering other people, and searching within oneself when a problem arises. The sharing of experiences together quickly formed a formidable strength within the one body.
Using the anti-torture exhibitions to clarify the truth is very effective. Since real people are performing, the exhibition is very realistic. Once people walk into the area of the anti-torture exhibition, they are able to understand the situation of Falun Gong being persecuted in China. The anti-torture exhibition sites need quite a large number of people for reenacting the torture scenes, either as the people being persecuted or to portray the Chinese police. People are also needed to pass out fliers, explain the truth, send forth righteous thoughts and perform the exercises. But, some practitioners have attachments and do not want to reenact being persecuted, causing a shortage of people. The anti-torture exhibitions are necessary because, by acting out the atrocities, the best results can be achieved. After everyone in our group had an experience sharing, a disciple who was previously unsure about the activity decided that the anti-torture exhibition was indeed important. She agreed to act as one of the Chinese police officers.
We should do what a Dafa disciple should do in Manhattan, without human notions or attachments. National boundaries and race do not matter. As long as one is a Dafa disciple, we should do the same thing to clarify the truth and offer people salvation. Dafa disciples who have come from all over the world are handing out fliers and clarifying the truth in the subways and on the streets. They do so regardless of their fatigue. The efforts of Dafa disciples are letting more and more New Yorkers understand the truth of the persecution of Falun Dafa in China. People are also becoming more and more compassionate.
In the past six weeks of clarifying the truth, there have been many moving stories:
1. Practitioners Work Towards the Same Goal, Regardless of How Long they Have Practiced
One Taiwanese practitioner had begun practicing Falun Dafa only two months ago, yet she has been in New York for over 2 months. She manages the make-up for the anti-torture exhibition. Sometimes, her ordinary human side came out, but with fellow practitioners' suggestions, she was able to immediately look inside herself and resolve the problem. Regardless of whether it is passing out truth-clarification materials or helping with the anti-torture exhibition, she acts responsibly and works diligently. Though she complained to me when she ran into conflicts, I told her to study the Fa more, no matter what, and to discover her own attachment. She accepted my advice willingly.
2. Fellow Practitioners Support Each Other
There were also two older practitioners. Since one had difficulty moving around, the other helped her get to and from the subway for six weeks without any complaint. They did many things together, from participating in the anti-torture exhibition to distributing fliers together.
3. Righteous Thoughts Eliminate the Evil
A Chinese man came to our anti-torture exhibition at the corner of 3rd Avenue and 53rd Street for many days to scowl and jeer at our exhibition. Nevertheless, the practitioners still kindly clarified the truth to him, even though he would not change his views. One time when he came, the practitioners began sending forth righteous thoughts to eliminate the evil behind him. Within ten seconds he left without saying a word.
That same afternoon, a fellow practitioner and I met him again while distributing flyers. He still had the same attitude, telling us to stop coming over to the U.S. to humiliate the Chinese government (he thought we were from the Mainland). I told him with a kind attitude that we were from Taiwan and that not only we, but also many other practitioners from all over the world have gathered in Manhattan; that we all paid for the trip out of our own pockets; that we all have families and careers and are using our own vacation time to come here and let people know the situation of the terrible persecution of Falun Gong in China. We also told him if he understands, it would be great, but if he didn't, then he shouldn't be angry about it and respond with such an attitude as it would do him no good anyway. Then we asked him to calmly and seriously consider what we said, as well as the facts of the persecution in China.
He left without turning back after hearing this. Since then, he has never returned to the anti-torture exhibition. I think he may have finally understood the truth.
4. Clarifying the Truth in the Subway
It takes us about an hour every day to travel by subway to get to Manhattan to clarify the truth, making it our best opportunity to clarify the truth to others on the train. Once we go out the door we begin our truth clarification. Our message and truth-clarifying materials are usually well received on the subway. Some people take extra fliers for their friends and families. Sometimes we even fold paper lotus flowers on the subway.
One time, a woman with a middle-aged mentally disabled son was riding the subway. The son smiled when he saw me making the lotus flowers so I gave him one. The mother was quite happy and asked me how much it costs. I replied that it was free and told her the story of the lotus flowers, how a group of children in China lost their parents only because their parents practiced Falun Gong and became very good people. For this, many practitioners have been detained in labor camps or even lost their lives and more still suffer in China. We asked her to spread the truth to more people in order to end this evil persecution, and wished her luck.
After hearing this she was in tears. She told us that she would tell everyone to stop this evil persecution, and said that we should all join our efforts together.
One time, we met an ethnic Chinese person from Vietnam. After we told him the status of Falun Gong's persecution in China he was very moved and told us he understood, for his uncle was also killed in Communist China. He told us that he would tell more people about the truth and expose the devious tricks of the Communist government.
5. Language is not a Problem
Because my English is limited, I cannot use it to clarify the truth very
well. But I know Spanish, and whenever fellow practitioners find someone who
can't speak English but can speak Spanish (many people in Manhattan speak
Spanish), they would bring this person to me. I would speak in a simple manner
and tell them the truth of the persecution in China. Most of them would
understand and take our materials. A fellow practitioner in my group cannot
speak English at all. Nevertheless, even the [short] sentence, "Falun Dafa
is great," from her has a good effect and can bring out people's
compassionate side.

Greetings Master
Greetings Fellow Practitioners
It had taken me some time to have the courage to write to Clearwisdom.net. I
should have written my experiences very much earlier. However, I have not done
well in maintaining my righteous thoughts in this particular issue. I have
recently understood that it is every Dafa practitioner's duty to share our
personal cultivation experiences.
The other reason that I could not bring myself to write about my cultivation
experiences was because I was extremely ashamed of my past, which I have now
realized is an attachment.
Before my cultivation journey, I was a member of a secret society. I had always
had extreme views in life. I always thought that being in a secret society
maintained a so-called righteousness. In addition, my temper might have gotten
me killed on the streets. Ironically, I was aware of heaven, hell and karma.
I was damaging society with my behavior, yet I had been properly educated and
had always been religious. I was brought up as a Buddhist. I prayed almost every
day for certain directions in life, luck, money, safety, and the things that
everyday people want.
Little did I know that Master decided to scoop me out from hell when my mother
passed me Zhuan Falun in the year 2002.
As it was a warped response by a normal person, I asked my mother if it was the
so-called [...] (slanderous words Jiang regime uses) that China banned. She calmly asked me to read
through Zhuan Falun and see for
myself, which I did.
I was extremely blessed that I had not been poisoned too deeply by the
propaganda spread by the Chinese government. I did not reject Zhuan Falun.
On the contrary, I was fascinated with Zhuan Falun. I decided to read It
every night if I could. On some occasions, I read until my eyes could not stay
focused. I think it was approximately 3 a.m.
After reading Zhuan Falun over and over for a few times, I came to
understand that I did not want to lead a barbaric and sinful life any longer. I
also came to understand that I was not heading towards hell; I was already in
Hell.
I decided to leave the secret society completely. There were not any hassles in
my doing so, unlike for others whom had experienced complications in such a
decision. I believed Master had benevolently resolved the particular issue to
prepare me for my cultivation journey.
Not too long after that, a friend of mine was assassinated and some others went
to jail. I came to understand that I could have suffered the same fate if it
wasn't for Master, who showered a wretched person like me with His compassion by
allowing me the chance to obtain the Fa.
Yet, I still was not diligent. I was quite ignorant. The reason, I believe, was
not being serious in Fa study.
At the end of 2003, I experienced some interference, so shocking to myself,
that I came to enlighten to the fact that cultivation is really an extremely
serious issue, not child's play, as Master has cautioned us.
Right then, I had two options. One option was to continue cultivating as
diligently as possible. The second option was to give up cultivation and be an
everyday person.
My true conscience chose the first option.
Following this, I attended an experience sharing conference in Singapore. Again,
I came to realize that Master had indeed arranged my stay with another veteran
practitioner who shared with me regarding the three things that Master taught
practitioners to do: to study the Fa, send righteous thoughts, and clarify the
truth.
I came back to Malaysia completely cured from the need for sleeping pills and
anti-anxiety pills, to which I had been addicted for quite some time.
From then on, my cultivation did not have as much interference as before.
However, I still have my shortcomings. I recognize my slow maturity in
cultivation.
One of my attachments was that I was worried that I could not consummate when
the Fa rectifies the human world. It became a burden to me for months to come.
At the same time, whenever I doubted my own cultivation progress, Master showed
me Falun, having them manifest in various sets of photographs that I took.
Later, I came to understand that I shall do whatever I may, to fulfill my 3
duties daily, regardless of whether I belong to the current group of Fa-rectification
period Dafa disciples, or the next group. The ultimate decision is with Master,
and only Master shall place me wherever I belong. As was mentioned by Master
recently -
"It's a case of reaping what you sow."
(In Fa-Rectification Your Thoughts Have to be Righteous, Not Human)
I seem to recall that cultivation was extremely tedious in the beginning. I
was occasionally in conflict with many of my human notions
Now, though, I have lost quite a huge amount of the stress and anger I used
to experience, especially when I drive.
I use to have bad asthma. The severe sickness karma has now disappeared. Since I
have only been serious in cultivation from last December, I understand that the
reactions I may continue to sometimes experience may be trials. I also came to
understand that it is not interference if it does not affect my validating the
Fa.
I was once very distraught over the fact that I cannot communicate in Mandarin
to clarify the truth. Later, I came to understand that my communication in
English also serves a purpose in clarifying the truth to the English speaking
community, as Malaysia is a multi-cultural country. Master mentioned that
nothing happens in isolation. I now understand that my English speaking
background is not a coincidence, either.
Driving down the road recently, my brakes did not work. Neither I nor my car was
scratched. I came to understand that Master had again saved me. On the other
hand, it was also a hint that I should not drive too fast.
Thank you Master, for everything. As a matter of fact, I believe that my
gratitude can never be adequately expressed with the words of our human realm.
However much I may continue to cultivate and serve Dafa, it will be my pleasure
to do so. I can truly say that I understand now, at my level, what it means when
Master thought us that Lao Zi said
"If one hears the Tao in the morning, one can die without regret in the evening."
Of course, I also came to enlighten that it is of utmost importance that
practitioners of the
current Fa-rectification period should not leave this human realm before the Fa
rectifies
the human world. There's too much to do, yet too little time, and we must not go
to extremes.
The above is my understanding. If there is anything inappropriate, please
correct me.
(Clearwisdom.net) Mr. Gao Zhisheng, one of the Ten Excellent Attorneys in China, handled many well-known cases in China, offered his services for free to one-third of his clients, those who were needy. Though Mr. Gao knows well the corruption in China's judicial systems, when he acted as attorney for Falun Gong practitioners, he was still shocked at the plight of the practitioners, being completely deprived of human rights. Thus, he wrote an open letter to the China National People's Congress.
Central News Agency reported on January 3, 2004 that the well-known attorney Mr. Gao wrote to Wu Bangguo, Chairman of the People's Congress about the law enforcement department's brutal infringement of Falun Gong practitioners' citizen rights. He also called on government to recognize the practitioners' citizenship.
It is rare in China for anyone to stand up in public for Falun Gong practitioners' rights, since the regime has persecuted Falun Gong since 1999.
Hong Kong's Ming Bao reported that Mr. Gao wrote an open letter to Chairman Wu Bangguo of the Chinese People's Congress. He said in the letter that he had received many appeals and letters from Falun Gong practitioners who were tortured in prisons or labor camps. Mr. Gao pointed out that local government abused Falun Gong practitioners by imprisoning them in labor camps. He "felt extreme sorrow," and wrote to Wu Bangguo.
Citizens Protecting Rights commented that the issues mentioned in the letter clearly show severe problems in the judicial system, and brutal trampling of citizens' human rights. Therefore, the net called for signatures from Chinese citizens.
Up to January 2, fifty-four people have signed in support, including Mr. Hu Jia, activist in protecting the rights of Chinese patients with AIDS.
(Clearwisdom.net) In mid November 2004, Peru Falun Dafa practitioners held a series of activities to introduce Falun Dafa during the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit held in Chile. The following are some related reports.
I.
On November 16, 2004, practitioners from Peru arrived in Santiago, the capital city of Chile, and joined practitioners from France, Spain, Sweden, the US, Mexico, Australia, Dominica, Venezuela and Chile. We practiced the exercises and studied the Fa in a small park opposite the hotel where we stayed. At noon, practitioners from Chile showed us where we could demonstrate the exercises in a downtown square. A television station reporter conducted an interview of us there. When we arrived at the square, we found that the police were setting up road blocks to the square. Practitioners handed out flyers to the police and clarified the truth about Falun Gong to them. The police showed us to a park in nearby residential area. We began practicing the exercises. Reporters from TV stations interviewed practitioners from Chile, Peru, Australia and the US.

On November 17, we went to the downtown square to demonstrate the Falun Gong exercises and display picture boards in Spanish exposing the Jiang faction's persecution of Falun Gong. Many people stopped, looked at the boards and requested flyers. We often heard people exclaim in great surprise that practitioners were different from what the Chinese Embassy described on TV. VOA Broadcasting Station interviewed the practitioners.
In the afternoon, we went to the Chinese Embassy to send forth righteous thoughts. Before reaching the embassy, we found the police standing in lines blocking our way. I was surprised why there were so many police. I smiled and greeted these police officers whose faces were tight and expressionless. I handed out Falun Gong truth clarification flyers to them, but they did not let us go near the embassy. They said during the APEC summit, considering the Chinese leaders' security issue, we had to hold activities at designated areas. We hung up banners, set up truth clarification display boards and began sending forth righteous thoughts on the street opposite the embassy. Some practitioners distributed flyers to tourists. The police took turns looking at our display boards and gradually left. Opposite the street, four police officers stood still facing us. Peru practitioners walked up to them and gave them flyers. At the beginning, they did not accept our flyers, and asked the practitioners to leave. With our strong righteous thoughts, they began to feel relaxed, and peacefully listened to practitioners explaining the facts about the Jiang faction's persecution of Falun Gong. They had been observing us the whole time, and they couldn't help but say, "You just do this (making gesture of erecting a palm) and this (making gesture of lotus palm), and then practice exercises. You are very quiet and peaceful, without doing anything extreme." They pointed at the Chinese Embassy and said, "Why are they so afraid of you? They asked our boss to send more people here, and said the more the better. A hundred police came here at 5 o'clock in the morning, and we haven't had our lunch yet."
II.
The Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit was held from November 18-21, 2004 in Santiago, the capital of Chile. Chinese president Hu Jintao visited Argentina first and arrived in Santiago with the Chinese delegation on November 18.
In the afternoon, practitioners from Peru, France, Spain, Venezuela, and the Dominican Republic went to the hotel where the Chinese president stayed to send forth righteous thoughts. The staff of the hotel told us that the Chinese president selected this hotel, and the Chinese delegation occupied the 14th to 25th floors (the hotel has 28 floors in total).

On November 20, the APEC summit began. In early morning, practitioners from Spain, France, the UK, the US, Peru, Venezuela, Colombia and practitioners who just arrived the day before from Argentina gathered at the entrance to the conference center of APEC to practice the exercises. They divided into two groups and waited at the two sides of the conference center.
Practitioners stood at the roadside while holding a banner reading: "Falun Dafa is great" and banners calling for an end to the persecution. Motorcades with media staff from various countries continuously passed us. A Japanese TV station showed great interest and interviewed practitioners. The area the police designated for us to hold activities was the park not far from the APEC conference center. The road where we stood was the way in for vehicles to the conference center. People in the vehicles could see clearly the banners and truth clarification display boards we placed at the roadside. Several media interviewed us.
A large bus full of Chinese people stopped in front of us, the driver got out to remove the road blocks. The woman sitting in the front seat saw us standing at the door. She quickly stood up to close the door, but seeing that she could not move the door, she used the small curtain to try and wrap her body. We were surprised that she was so scared. The man sitting behind her waved his fist at us. I smiled and said to him, "Falun Dafa is great." Other Chinese people in the bus dared not accept our flyers, but most of them looked favorably at us.
Several thousand flyers were quickly distributed. Some practitioners went back to our hotel to get more. We distributed flyers until nightfall. We went directly to the hotel where Chinese president Hu Jintao stayed. We practiced the exercises and sent forth righteous thoughts at the police designated area opposite the hotel. Banners hanging at both side of the road were facing the road where the Chinese delegation's motorcade would pass. The lights of vehicles shone on the banner reading "Falun Dafa is great," making the words very eye catching. When we about to leave, the police came to help us hail taxis.

On November 21, as the APEC summit concluded, leaders and delegations from various countries began leaving Chile. In the morning, the police did not allow us to move near the hotel. We guessed that the Chinese delegation had not left yet. Two practitioners and I stayed at the airport overnight to wait for the arrival of the Chinese delegation. On the morning of November 22, we stood at the roadside of the airport entrance and sent forth righteous thoughts. A police officer came over to talk to us. We told him that we were waiting for the Chinese delegation. He understood and told us that the Chinese delegation was leaving today, and pointed out which plane was theirs.
When the Chinese plane stopped at the gate, the motorcade of the Chinese delegation slowly drove into the airport. As we could not hold banners at the airport, each of us wore a yellow T-shirt inside our overcoat. When the motorcade of the Chinese delegation passed us, we took off our overcoats. I shouted loudly to the motorcade, "Falun Dafa is great!" The police around us gave us a path to show our T-shirts. I made a big stride forward and waved to each car and shouted "Falun Dafa is great!" I believe all Chinese people in the motorcade saw us Falun Gong practitioners wearing yellow T-shirts, and also heard us saying, "Falun Dafa is great!"
(Clearwisdom.net) Every New Year's Eve, practitioners go to the Chinese Embassy in Japan to send forth righteous thoughts to eliminate the evil in other dimensions, and to peacefully appeal for the end of the persecution of Falun Gong in China. On January 2 and 3, Falun Gong practitioners from different areas of Japan gathered to have a group study and experience-sharing meeting. After studying two lectures of Zhuan Falun and "Teaching the Fa at the 2004 International Fa Conference in New York," practitioners began to talk warmly and enthusiastically, sharing their experiences.
A practitioner from Shanghai was visiting her daughter in Japan. She discussed the cruel tortures that Mainland Falun Dafa practitioners have endured and how they continued to clarify truth in such an evil environment. She was once illegally jailed in the Shanghai Women's Forced Labor Institution. She brought a coat worn in the winter at the labor camp. It was very thin, like a light sports jacket. She said they were only allowed to wear this thin coat in winter, and they were forced to work. She was assigned to string small beads to make adornments. Her eyes were very stressed by the painstaking work. In the forced labor institute, she witnessed many tortures applied to Falun Gong practitioners. After this practitioner was released, she wisely used every opportunity in daily life to clarify the truth to people who were deceived by the lies and propaganda of Jiang's faction. On the night before her trip to Japan, she sincerely talked to a former practitioner who had stopped cultivation as a result of the persecution. The heartfelt sharing led the person to decide to practice again. The experiences shared were very moving.

Another practitioner shared a story about her son who had toured China recently. Her son had met up with practitioners in China running a small shop. They told him the truth about the persecution. He said he could see the truth and honesty in their eyes. He was very moved that they took the risk to tell him the truth. So he understood why his mother worked so hard to clarify the truth to people, appealing for the end of the persecution. He realized that practitioners were such good people. After he returned to Japan, he wanted to read the book, Zhuan Falun.
A few practitioners shared their thoughts with regard to cultivation during the Fa-rectification period and how to eliminate selfishness. Practitioners also discussed a few points of not doing well while applying for political asylum. They realized that it was a question of validating Dafa or validating oneself. The discussion changed to a few problems in some practitioners' cultivation. The practitioners all felt that cultivation was a very serious thing, just as Master reminded us.
In the past months, many Japanese practitioners have taken turns to clarify the truth in New York City. They shared their experiences about clarifying the truth to New Yorkers and policemen. At the same time, practitioners in Japan also clarified the truth to Japanese and visiting Chinese in Japan - on the streets, in electronic appliance stores, Chinese groceries and the immigration office. One practitioner said that many Chinese people learned the truth and wanted to read Zhuan Falun. He always tried his best to personally send the book by mail, so as not to miss a chance for a predestined person to learn about Falun Gong.
After two days of studying and sharing, practitioners generally felt that they understood better about the Fa and that other practitioner's experiences had encouraged them. Group study is an environment that Master has set up for us to cultivate in. It can refine practitioners. Practitioners make progress in sharing and studying together.
(Clearwisdom.net) On December 30, 2004, a Falun Gong experience sharing conference was held by the German Falun Gong Association in Erbach. Over two hundred practitioners from Germany and the German-speaking areas of Switzerland and Austria attended the conference. Experience sharing articles were read by five practitioners and a group of practitioners who work on the same project to expose the persecution happening in China.
A western practitioner shared his experiences of going to Manhattan twice to join in the large-scale efforts to raise awareness about the persecution. He felt that this was a special historical period and he could really see how narrow the path is that practitioners need to walk: even deviating a little can cause huge damage. This cannot be felt in a normal environment, but is very obvious in Manhattan where the requirement for practitioners is very high.
Another practitioner talked about the obstructions she faced in the procedure of applying to hold an activity. She realized that it can cause difficulties to the activity if practitioners rely on other people too much. A practitioner also shared his experience of how to follow the requirement of Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance, be brave to correct the mistakes he made and deny the old force's arrangements with righteous thoughts and actions. His talk made many practitioners cry.
A practitioner who works in the field of art gave a talk which left a deep impression on others. He started drawing at the age of thirteen and had strict training. He believed art should give people wonderfulness and hope, but was very disappointed for many years because he was not keen on the direction art was taking, which led to him stopping drawing for nearly a year. He said: "After reading Master's talk on "Teaching the Fa at the Discussion on Creating Fine Art', I was really shocked. I finally realized the path I should walk and continue to walk: The road of creating fine art, creating works of beauty to praise the Gods. It seems simple but I spent such a long time discovering it. I am glad that I has walked out of a dangerous situation, and made myself righteous to walk the path Master points out for us. The righteous way we practitioners walk will also be left for people in the future."
Five practitioners who were involved in a German newspaper project shared their understanding of the project and how to deal with the relationships between family and work, Fa study, doing exercises, sending righteous thoughts and other truth clarification activities.

This New Year's Day tradition has over 100 years of history in Philadelphia. It originated in medieval Europe, and was brought to Philadelphia by early immigrants. It has become a special way for people in Philadelphia, South New Jersey, and Delaware to celebrate the New Year.

Fan Dance
The parade starts on Broad Street, and ends at City Hall, and the streets are packed with enthusiastic and jubilant spectators. Amidst the parade, the Falun Gong practitioners' contingent with the theme of "Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance" was quite eye catching. They were the only Chinese group that participated in the parade. Falun Gong practitioners performed a dragon dance, celestial maidens' scattering flowers, a fan dance, and a Falun Gong exercise demonstration. Their performance won warm applause from spectators. People shouted joyously, "Bravo!" and waved their hands to express their appreciation to practitioners for bringing Chinese traditional culture and "Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance" to the western community.
Reporters took many pictures, and some of them said they had noticed practitioners last year, and taken many good pictures. When the Falun Gong contingent passed by the judge's, the host introduced, "Falun Gong represents China's most outstanding culture. It is the gift China presents to the world, but it is subjected to persecution in China."

Practitioners demonstrated the five sets of exercises on the float, while a recording introduced the Falun Gong exercises, the persecution imposed upon Falun Gong practitioners by Jiang's group in China, and Falun Gong practitioners' efforts to call for people to uphold justice through various activities. TV Station WB17 broadcast the parade live, and also included the introduction of Falun Gong, allowing tens of thousands of viewers to learn more about the facts of Falun Gong.
The Jiang's group's persecution of Falun Gong has entered the sixth year, and more and more people have showed concern over the Falun Gong issue.
A Westerner who came with his family from Texas said, "They are great! I see 'peace,' 'kindness,' 'love,' and beautiful 'sitting meditation.' I also practice sitting meditation, and I know the positive effects of being peaceful and tranquil. I know Falun Gong is being persecuted by the Party, I pray for them." Another man said, "Their performances are superb. I'm glad that they can freely perform here. They should not be persecuted! This is a free country, and everyone should come together."
Local Chinese were satisfied with Falun Gong practitioners' excellent performance. Three elderly Chinese women watched the New Year's Day parade for the first time, and when they saw Dragon Dance, they were so excited, and said, "We like to see the dragon dance. Wonderful! Happy New Year!" An Indonesian Chinese family of six came and said, "We know Falun Gong is being persecuted in China, and we are sad about it. Happy New Year!"
Practitioners participating in this parade were from the greater Philadelphia area, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, and Washington DC. A Western practitioner from Philadelphia said that he was glad to participate and that Falun Gong' s principles of "Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance" has touched the hearts of more and more people. A practitioner from Delaware said, "It's the third time we have participated in Philadelphia's Mummer's Day Parade. We introduced China's most outstanding tradition and culture to the Western community. As a Chinese, I'm very proud of doing so."
Extending New Year's Greetings to Master
After the parade, practitioners gathered at Love Heart Park for a group photo, to express their gratitude for Master's benevolent and arduous salvation, and wish revered Master a Happy New Year!

1. [Yunnan Province] Arrest of Zhang Wenhang for Declaration to Continue Falun Gong Practice
In 2000, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhang Wenhang from Yunnan Province Computation Technical Supervision Bureau was held in the provincial Women's Forced Labor Camp. Zhang Wenhang had recently published her solemn declaration on Clearwisdom, stating that her so-called "reformation" was void and she would come back to Fa-rectification cultivation.
In the afternoon of December 28, 2004, personnel from her bureau colluded with police officers from Kunming City's Wuhua National Security Brigade and arrested Zhang. They also confiscated her computer and some of her other personal items. Zhang is currently being held at the Wuhua Detention Center.

2. [Nanning City, Guangxi AR] Arrest of Practitioners Tan Caihe and Lu Xunping
On December 29, 2004, practitioner Ms. Tan Caihe and Ms. Lu Xunping from Nanning City, Guangxu Autonomous Region, were arrested and their houses were ransacked. Dafa books, truth-clarifying materials, personal computers and printers were confiscated.
3. [Tanghai County, Hebei Province] Arrest of Liu Xiaoling
In 2003, personnel from Tanghai County's Police Department sent practitioner Ms. Liu Xiaoling from Tanghai County, Hebei Province, to Tangshan City Kaiping Forced Labor Camp. Later, Liu got out of the labor camp with the power of righteous thoughts. In November 2004, personnel from the police department again put her into the forced labor camp. She suffered from severe disease in the labor camp. Liu's mother went to request her release, but Liu is still in detention.

4. [Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province] Second Arrest for Tang Zhiheng and Huang Songdian
During the morning of December 31, 2004, when practitioners Tang Zhiheng and Huang Songdian from Guangzhou City went to work they were arrested. Previously, in January 2003, Tang was released from the city's No.1 Forced Labor Camp. In 2002, Huang Songdian was released from Guangdong Province's Sanshui Forced Labor Camp.
5. [Heilongjiang Province] Guards at the Jiamusi Forced Labor Camp Barbarically Torture Detained Practitioners
On December 23, 2004, guard Wang Xiurong in the Jiamusi Forced Labor Camp dragged practitioners Ms. Ma Rujun and Ms. Fei Jinrong upstairs because they refused to wear the labor camp uniform. Ma Rujun refused to be dragged away and shouted, "Falun Dafa is great!" Guard Jiang Jianan helped drag her. Wang Xiurong slapped Ma Rujun's face, then she dragged out Fei Jinrong who also shouted, "Falun Dafa is great!" The two practitioners had their hands cuffed behind their back in a shoe room on the second floor. They were forced to sit on the cold concrete floor and were not allowed to sleep at night.
That same morning, practitioner Ms. Su Yanhua, who was placed in the Strictly Controlled Group, refused to stand up during roll call, and guard Wang Xiurong kicked her until she fell to the ground.
6. [Maoming City, Guangdong Province] Practitioners Ms. Yang Qiujuan and Ms. Yang Yaocheng Abducted When Distributing Truth Clarification Materials
Police officers unlawfully arrested practitioners Ms. Yang Qiujuan and Ms. Yang Yaocheng in Maoming City, Guangdong Province. The officers were from the Xiali Police Station in Maogang District, Maoming City. They arrested the practitioners for distributing truth clarification materials. The two women are currently being held at the No. 1 Maoming Detention Center.
7. [Luquan City, Hebei Province] Practitioner Mr. Li Jiangang, His Wife Dong Xiuzhu and Practitioner Jia Yulian Sent to Hebei Provincial Brainwashing Center
In the evening of December 20, practitioner Mr. Li Jiangang, his wife Dong Xiuzhu and practitioner Ms. Jia Yulian from Chengguan Town, Luquan City, the Shijiazhuang area, drove a tractor to a town 20 miles away to clarify the truth about Falun Gong. They were arrested and held at a police station and then transferred to a detention center.
They held a hunger strike to protest the illegal detention. On December 27, they were sent to the Luquan County Hospital where they were force-fed or given intravenous infusions. The police in Luquan County sent them to the Hebei Provincial Brainwashing Center on December 31, 2004.
8. [Hebei Province] Practitioner Mr. Lei Zhongfu Tortured at Shijiazhuang City No. 4 Prison
Practitioner Mr. Lei Zhongfu is being held at Shijiazhuang City No. 4 Prison and is very weak from torture. He has been physically abused in a most savage way at the Strictly Controlled Group for more than one month. He was not allowed to sleep at night.

9. [Hebei Province] Practitioner Mr. Lei Jiangtao Forced to Do Prison Slave Labor
Mr. Lei Jiangtao is 25 years old and was sentenced to seven years in prison. He is currently being held at Group 8, Division 6, Brigade 2 of the Jidong Prison in Hebei Province. On November 15, 2004, practitioners Mr. Gu Liqiang and Mr. Lei Jiangtao in Jinzhou City, Hebei Province were transferred from Jinzhou City's Detention Center to the Jidong Prison in Hebei Province, which is located at the Nanbao Salt Mine in Tangshan City [site of the horrific earthquake in 1976]. They were forced to do slave labor while being held at Jinzhou City's Detention Center. They are now very weak with a loss of memory.

Facts of the Persecution
1. Urgent Call to Rescue Falun Dafa Practitioner Ms. Wang XiaMs. Wang Xia is in her thirties and the story of her release from prison after a two year hunger strike was reported on Clearwisdom.net. Her physical condition had been improving very slowly, since she was released, although she suffered from insomnia, and the doctors diagnosed that she had experienced a nervous breakdown. On December 23, 2004, police from Linhe City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous District suddenly came to her house and took her to the District Women's Prison in Huhhot. It is our hope that all kind people in the world will extend their helping hands to rescue Falun Dafa practitioner Wang Xia from further persecution.

Practitioner Ms Li Hong has been Held for More Than Two Years; Her Husband Had to Leave Home More Than Two Years Ago and Their Son was Almost AbductedMs. Li Hong is a thirty-eight year old Falun Dafa practitioner. She went to Beijing with her husband in October 2000, and both were arrested. Her husband was sentenced to two years of forced labor. Later, her entire family, regardless of age, was threatened. After eight months in hiding, Li Hong was arrested in May 2002. Over the past two and a half years, she has been held in the Jijiafang Brainwashing Class at the Shalingzi and Qiaodong District Brainwashing Center located on Gaohou Street, and tortured by all sorts of means. Her husband was also forced to leave home to avoid being arrested for two years after being released from a labor camp. In order to arrest him, lawless officials attempted to abduct his son as hostage one month ago. Luckily, his classmate's father appeared just in time, and the attempt failed.

3. Crimes Committed at the Liaocheng Brainwashing Class in Shandong Province
The Dongchangfu District Brainwashing Center is located across the street from the Dongchangfu District Court on Xihuan Street, Liaocheng City, Shandong Province. All abducted Falun Dafa practitioners and people who came to appeal in Liaocheng City are held there. There are more than ten wards in the center. Posters made by the 610 Office slandering Falun Dafa are posted all over the hallway. Falun Dafa practitioners are all isolated from one another. The 610 Office director, Li Yugong (male), is personally in charge of the brainwashing. He ordered guards to step on Falun Dafa practitioners' hands and ankles, while two doctors from the Xihu Hospital in Liaocheng City force-fed practitioners on a hunger strike. Li ordered the doctors to pull the tube back and forth to increase the suffering. Most practitioners could not move, even after ten minutes of force-feeding, because their hands and feet were purple-black and numb.

4. Local Lawless Officials Step Up Persecution of Falun Dafa Practitioners after Luo Gan and Zhou Yongkan Visit Henan ProvinceIn October 2004, the Central Political and Judiciary Committee Secretary Luo Gan and the Minister of Public Security came to Henan Province, and personally planned new waves of persecution against Falun Dafa practitioners. They recklessly arrested Falun Dafa practitioners, taking them to brainwashing classes. They unlawfully extended terms of practitioners who had been released from labor camps or prisons by immediately arresting them upon their release and transferring them to brainwashing classes. The new governor, Xu Guangchun, said in his TV remarks, that the city will install 100,000 mini-video cameras on the streets of Zhengzhou City to monitor and arrest Falun Dafa practitioners. Several Falun Dafa practitioners have been abducted to the Wanqingshanzhuang Brainwashing Class.

5. A Practitioner Employed by the China Science Academy, Shanghai Technology Physics Research Institute is Abused
Cong Peixi, who was born in 1947, went to Beijing to appeal at the end of 1999, and was detained one month by the Shanghai City 610 Office. He was forced to resign from his position in the Fifth Lab in 2000. He was sentenced to two years in a labor camp in July 2001. He was arrested at his home on November 26, 2004 by the 610 Office. The man responsible for his forced resignation in 2000 was the Fifth Lab chair, Tang Xinyi.
Mr. Deng Yingshi was born in 1971, and employed by the Fifth Lab in 1997. He went to Beijing to appeal at the end of 1999, and was detained fifteen days for that trip in January 2000. He was also placed under house arrest at the institute from January through July 2000. He was sent to a brainwashing class again by his employer from January to June 2002. He was also forced to resign his position in 2003 by his project leader, Li Fanming, who is the vice Chair of the Fifth Lab.
Mr. Jia Jianjun, born in 1972, is a Ph. D. and graduated from the Shanghai University of Transportation. He was employed by the Second Lab in 1999, and worked in the Satellite Group. He was sent to the Qingpu Brainwashing Class from November 2001 to January 2002. He has been suffering persecution ever since he came back from the class.

1. Ms. Wang Sufang, deputy head of the Retired Cadre Division, Fushun City Police Department, tortured in prison
Wang Sufang is the deputy head of the Retired Cadre Division of the Fushun City Police Department. She is an outstanding police officer. In November 2001, she was abducted for going to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. She held a hunger strike at the detention center to protest the illegal arrest, and clarified the truth to the guards. She was released 14 days later. In January 2002, she was again abducted and was sent to the No. 2 Detention Center of Fushun City. During the detention, Wang Sufang was tortured with the "Tiger Bench" and was forced to wear shackles weighing 48 jin (about 50 lb). In January 2003, she was sent to Division 3, the Liaoning Province Female Prison, where she was forced to work 15 to 16 hours a day. Her health condition is declining drastically as a result of the harsh conditions and abuse.

2. Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Du Jincai has held a hunger strike for over 170 days at the Huludao City Forced Labor Camp
Mr. Du Jincai works at the Telecommunication Division of Jinhua Chemical Corporation Ltd. On April 26, 2004, he was arrested from work by officers from the National Security Division, the former Political and Security Division from the Lianshan District Police Department, and was sent to a detention center. He was later sent to Huludao City Forced Labor Camp to be held for three years. Du Jincai started a hunger strike on July 9, which has lasted over 170 days. The labor camp guards force-fed him on a daily basis. They deliberately left the feeding tube in, which caused the tube to stick to his esophagus and caused excruciating pain from his head to his stomach. The guards also put him solitary confinement to further torture him. The guards encouraged the inmates to torture him. The inmates forced him to lie on the ground, kneel, and spread his legs. They shocked him with electric batons and slapped his face. They also forbid his family to visit him.

3. Ms. Cui Yaning tortured at the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp
Ms. Cui Yaning is 35 years old and lives in the Linghe District, Jinzhou City. In October 1999 she was sentenced to two years of forced labor for going to Beijing to appeal. She was sent to the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp and was rescued from the prison two years later. In December 2001, she went to visit a friend and was again abducted and brutally tortured. In January 2002, she was secretly abducted and sent to the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp where she has been tortured for three years. The labor camp authorities refuse to release her because she persists in practicing Falun Gong.

Hu Qingkui is 62 years old. She has been healthy since she started practicing Falun Gong; as a result she saved the government a lot of medical bills. In June 2000, she went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong in the hope that the government would listen to the facts. However, she was arrested and held at the No. 2 Detention Center. Two months later she was sentenced to three years of forced labor and was held at the Jinzhou City Forced Labor Camp where she was subjected to forced brainwashing. She was released 14 months later. In the summer of 2002 she was sentenced to three years of forced labor and was held at the Jinzhou City Forced Labor Camp. After the long-term torture, she has difficulty walking and can only do so with assistance from others.

He was brutally tortured in prison and held a hunger strike for 18 days. He became emaciated and ill and the doctor diagnosed him with tuberculosis. The prison authorities extorted money from him before releasing him. His mother went into exile to avoid persecution. In September 2002, the Workers and Farmers' Court sentenced him to 15 years in prison. His mother was sentenced to three years of forced labor in October 2002. Toward the end of 2002, the authorities from the No. 1 Detention Center sent Guo Xingguo, who was critically ill, to Harbin Prison. In February 2003, Harbin Prison authorities notified Guo Xingguo's family to pick him up. He was on the brink of death. A doctor found his lungs had deteriorated and he had hyperplastic anemia. He studied the Fa and did the exercises in the hospital and miraculously recovered. He was soon taken back to the No. 1 Detention Center. On October 30th, 2004 he was sent to Harbin Prison, but he was not accepted because his health was deteriorating again. He was taken back to the No. 1 Detention Center and has been detained there to this day.

6. Practitioner Liu Shiyuan in Tangyuan County, Heilongjiang Province recounts persecution experiences
My name is Liu Shiyuan. I am 45 years old and I live in Tangyuan County, Heilongjiang Province. In May 2000, I met with fellow practitioners at a store that my sister owns. We were reported and arrested. I was illegally detained for 40 days and then sentenced to one year of forced labor. In April 2002, I was intercepted by the police on my way to Hegang. One officer repeatedly stomped on my ankles with hard boots until my ankles turned black. I almost passed out from the pain. Another officer put my fingers inside a handcuff and violently twisted my fingers until I lost all feeling in them. My hands were numb for several months afterwards. The next day, Zhou Tiegang ordered inmates to strip me naked, then pour cold water on me while violently hitting my spine with their elbows. They also hit my knees until they bled. My knees are still dysfunctional even now. The next day, inmate Su Dewen ordered more than 20 other inmates to take turns beating me. My face became deformed and blood came out of my ears; my whole body was covered with wounds. Later they assigned two people to further torture me. They pinched me and poked me with needles while hitting and beating me. My chest is covered with punctures from the needles. They filled my mouth with salt and forced me to hold it in my mouth. My clothes were soaked with sweat. I was short of breath and weak. Twenty days later I was sent to forced labor. I held a hunger strike to protest the persecution and was force-fed through my nose. I was handcuffed to a heating pipe with my hands behind my back, and then I was handcuffed to a folding bed, but was not allowed to sleep.

7. Li Hongbin, head of the Tangyuan Farm Police Department in Heilongjiang Province beat and extorted money from my family and me
My name is Wan Shuying. I am a practitioner in Heilongjiang Province. In July 2004, Li Hongbin, the Tangyuan Farm Police Department chief, led a group of police. They ransacked my home. On August 3, 2004, my parents were sent to the Xinhua Farm Detention Center and held there for 15 days. After my parents were released, my brother and I went to Li Hongbin to ask for the items that they confiscated when ransacking my home, because they didn't follow any legal procedures. Li Hongbin beat my brother and ordered police officers to take him away. He kicked and beat me, and two officers dragged me to a detention room. They handcuffed my hands behind my back, grabbed my hair and violently hit my face. Li Hongbin hit my brother's eyes, other parts of the face, head and back, and also handcuffed his hands behind his back. He also hit my brother with a bamboo stick. We were released after more than two hours of beating, during which time they called my parents and extorted 4,000 yuan from them. They also demanded that we apologize to them, or they would send us to forced labor or keep us in detention.

8. Tortures at the Yinmahe Forced Labor Camp in Jiutai, Jilin Province
The authorities at the Education Division, the Yinmahe Forced Labor Camp in Jilin Province try to force the practitioners to renounce their belief. They handcuff us in bed while stretching our limbs, force-feed us, flick our eyelids with their fingertips, stab our fingers with metal sticks, slap our face, beat and kick us, deprive us of sleep, and put us under strict control for a long period of time. On April 1, 2004, personnel from Jilin Province Judicial Department went to the labor camp to conduct an inspection. Guards Song Chenguang and Sun Jian were on duty. They hid practitioner Sun Zhigang, who was mentally traumatized from torture. Guard Liu said on TV, "We'll let [Falun Gong] practitioners know the strength of our reform efforts." In the year following Liu's TV appearance, the practitioners were brutally tortured on a daily basis. Guan Jinghui, the instructor in Division 5 often beat and verbally abused the practitioners. The instructors often sent practitioner Zhang Zhen from Yanbian to the Strictly Controlled Group, where the inmates assigned to watch him around the clock tortured him by flicking his eyelids with their fingertips; inmates Cheng Zhaofeng, Tian Dejun, Zhao Xinjia, Zhu Lijun and Luo Shuli used him as a punching bag and hit him until his chest and back turned black and his eyes were filled with blood. He suffered a mental collapse as a result of the torture. Practitioner Wu Longbo from the Chuanying District, Jilin City suffered periodic nervous breakdowns from torture. Practitioner Quan Changlu, in his 60s, was transferred to another prison.
