(Clearwisdom.net) On July 8, 2004, The Albany City Common Council unanimously (12 to zero) passed resolution 44.71.04R in support of the rights and freedom of those who practice Falun Gong. This is the second unanimously passed resolution that supports Falun Gong. The first one, 71.122.00R, was passed on Dec. 18, 2000.
A copy of this resolution will be forwarded to the Embassy of the People's Republic of China, Congressman Michael McNulty, United States Senator Charles Schumer and United States Senator Hillary Clinton.
The Resolution was issued on August 30, 2004. Below is the text of the Resolution.

Resolution Numbers 44.71.04R
Resolution of the Albany Common Council in Support of the Rights and Freedom of Those Who Practice the Self-Improvement Activity of Falun Dafa.
Whereas, the peaceful practice of religious beliefs is formally recognized as an essential human rights in the First Amendment to the United States Constitution and in many documents with universal appeal that celebrate human liberty; and
Whereas, the practice of Falun Dafa (also known as Falun Gong) is rooted in ancient Chinese culture and involves the peaceful cultivation of mind, body and spirit with the emphasis on the universal principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance; and
Whereas, tens of millions of people from different nations, races, social and cultural backgrounds have willingly embarked upon a path of self-improvement through the practice of Falun Dafa; and
Whereas, while the people of the New York State who practice Falun Dafa freely enjoy its benefits, many people in the People's Republic of China who peacefully participate in the practice of Falun Dafa have been oppressed by the totalitarian control of the Chinese government; and
Whereas, more than 949 Falun Dafa practitioners are known to have been tortured to death by the government of the People's Republic of China for their belief in freedom; and
Whereas, the practice of Falun Dafa remains banned by the government of the People's Republic of China in violation of basic human rights and practitioners continue to be imprisoned and tortured for their peaceful participation in this non-violent means of expression; and
Whereas, the practitioner's of Falun Dafa have demonstrated a courage and dedication to adhere to one's faith despite the threat to life and liberty that should be honored and supported by all freedom loving people; and
Whereas, the Albany Common Council is the legislative body that represents the interests of all residents of the City of Albany and the Council's constituents have demonstrated an interest in supporting the right to religious freedom and ethical practice as a fundamental human right.
Now Therefore, Be It Resolved, that the Common Council of the City of Albany hereby strongly urges and calls upon the People's Republic of China to respect the human rights of those who practice Falun Dafa in a peaceful and non-violent manner.
Be It Further Resolved, the Common Council of the City of Albany hereby directs that a copy of this resolution, suitably engrossed, be forwarded to the Embassy of the People's Republic of China, Congressman Michael McNulty, United States Senator Charles Schumer and United States Senator Hillary Clinton for their consideration so they may take appropriate action regarding this important human rights matter.

Resolution in Support of Falun Gong Unanimously Passed by City of Albany
(Clearwisdom.net) There are many colleges and universities in Beijing. Since July 1999, Jiang Zemin paid great attention to the persecution of Falun Gong at Beijing's colleges and universities. Li Lanqing personally inspected Tsinghua University to deal with the so-called "Falun Gong issue." The Jiang regime created a "610 Office" at the Education Department of Beijing to focus on the persecution of Falun Gong. Through the heads of the party committee of each school, the "610 Office" coerced each school to force its faculty members and students who practice Falun Gong to stop practicing. Each school was required to report those who refused to give up their practice and force them to attend the notorious "Beijing Law Education Center" in Tuanhe for closed-door brainwashing. In addition, a fee of 5,000 yuan was collected for each. The practitioners were forced to watch videos and read books defaming Falun Gong. Those insisting on their belief after repeated brainwashing attempts were sent to forced labor camps. The "610 Office" of the Education Department in Beijing persecuted a large number of practitioners who insisted on believing in "Zhen-Shan-Ren (Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance).
In the brainwashing class, the "610 Office" orders the schools to send their own personnel to closely monitor Falun Gong practitioners one on one, 24 hours a day. They do not allow practitioners to study the teachings of Falun Dafa or practice the exercises, nor do they permit practitioners to make phone calls. They had to report to the "610 Office" each day. In addition, the security guards violently "escorted" practitioners from their barracks to the brainwashing class in Tuanhe each morning and back again in the evening. Each evening, the school must assigned personnel to monitor practitioners. There were also security guards on night duty to prevent the practitioners from escaping. There were guards who patrolled inside and outside the building.
The following describes the persecution of the faculty, students and alumni at some of the colleges and universities in Beijing:
China Xiehe Medical University
* Dan Ling, an associate professor in the Basic
Science Institute, China Xiehe Medical University had been awarded the title
"Excellent Teacher" for many years. She was removed from her position by the
school in July 1999. In 1998, eleven experts including Dan Ling from China Xiehe
Medical University units surveyed 12,731 Beijing Falun Gong practitioners. The
result showed that the general efficiency of Falun Gong's healing was 99.1%.
This survey was "The Survey Report Based on 10,000 Cases in Beijing Regarding
the Efficacy of Falun Gong's Fitness Effects." On October 13, 1999, Dan Ling was
arrested and taken to the No. 14 Division of Beijing Public Security Bureau.
Later on she was forced to leave her home. In August 2002, Dan Ling was arrested
in Fujian province and sent back to Beijing. Her current whereabouts are
unknown.
* Mr. Lin Chengtao, 37 years old, was an assistant research scientist at the Institute of Fundamental Medicine, China Xiehe Medical University. He was an important figure in the US-China research project. He was a good and decent person who always worked very hard. This young scholar was severely persecuted in Tuanhe Labor Camp for upholding his belief in Falun Gong.
He was abducted and sent to the No.2 unit of Tuanhe Labor Camp in October 2001. He immediately faced inhumane torture such as sleep deprivation and other physical punishments. After a long period of torture by the police, he seemed distant all the time and would not speak a single word. At the end of 2001, his wife (a music teacher in No.1 middle school of Beijing) was brainwashed in the Xin'an Labor Camp, and she turned against her belief in Falun Dafa. She sent letters suggesting that the leaders in Tuanhe Labor Camp adopt the methods used in the Women's Labor Camp, including electric shock, physical punishment, psychological abuse and sleep deprivation to force Lin to give up his belief. The police then forced Lin to read his wife's letter over and over again. Finally, Lin could not take such mental stress, and rushed into the hallway, shouting loudly. Since then, his mental condition has remained severely damaged. Even so, the perpetrators of the No.2 unit sent him to the West Building of Tuanhe Labor Camp to suffer even worse torture and humiliation.
Lin Chengtao started practicing Falun Dafa in 1993. In just a few days, he
recovered from severe gastric and liver disease. From then on he persisted in
his practice of Dafa. Lin Chengtao participated in investigating and writing
"The Survey Report Based on 10,000 Cases in Beijing Regarding the Efficacy of
Falun Gong's Fitness Effects."
* Liu Xiao was an assistant professor in the
Basic Science Institute at the China Xiehe Medical University. Together with Lin
Chengtao, he participated in writing "The Survey Report Based on 10,000 Cases in
Beijing Regarding the Efficacy of Falun Gong's Fitness Effects." At the
beginning of the persecution, he was forced out of his teaching position. On
October 13, 1999, he was arrested together with Lin Chengtao and sent to the No.
14 Division of the Beijing Public Security Bureau. In September 2001 he was
arrested and detained at the Tuanhe Labor Camp with a term of one and half
years. After being brainwashed and tortured in the Tuanhe Labor Camp, he
suffered a mental collapse. The policemen were afraid to bear responsibility for
persecuting him, so they claimed that he feigned his condition assigned people
to monitor him. His wife was a doctor who worked for the General Hospital of the
Armed Police. Because of her determination in practicing Falun Gong, she was
dismissed from the Armed Police in 2001.
* Ms. Zhang Jingchun was a technician in the Basic Science Institute, China Xiehe Medical University. Because of her determination in practicing Falun Gong, she was dismissed from the school without explanation in 1999.
* Mr. Wang Feng was a graduate student in the Basic Science Institute, China Xiehe Medical University. In September 2000, he was arrested in Tianjin railway station because he was found with Falun Gong materials inside his bag, and his whereabouts are unknown.
Beijing University of Technology
Beijing University of Technology created the Falun Gong Committee and claimed that everyone had to pass the test, and all Falun Gong practitioners had to make statements. The followings are some cases of persecution.
* Mr. Huang Yongchang was an associate professor
from the Physics Department of Beijing Industrial University. On July 19, 2000,
he and Mr. Shao Mingheng from the Materials Department were arrested while
exchanging experiences with practitioners from other places. It was said that
they were detained in the Third Detention Center of Beijing. On May 24, 2001
Huang Yongchang was arrested again and detained in the third "transformation
class" in the Beijing area. He suffers from brainwashing and persecution.
* Ms. Zhang Huirong is over 30 years old and was
an excellent young teacher from the Engineering College of Beijing University of
Technology. In 2000 her workplace gave out apartments. Thinking of her fellow
teachers, she gave up the apartment that was given to her. In the first semester
of 2001 she taught three or four courses, which had the heaviest workload, but
she had no post (they wouldn't give her a position due to her belief). Around
April or May 2001, she was forced to leave her home because of the persecution.
One day in June when she met her husband at a hotel, she was arrested and sent
to the Tuanhe brainwashing class. Because she refused to be transformed, she was
sentenced to one and a half years of labor re-education and detained in the
Women's Labor Camp located in Daxing county of Beijing City (formerly the
Tiantang Labor Camp, Xin'an Labor Camp). She was persecuted and suffered a
mental collapse and sent to Unit No.4. The leader of Unit No.4, Li Jirong,
regarded her as someone who was intentionally making trouble, and allowed the
perpetrators to beat and abuse her for several months. She was forced to squat
behind the door, suffering beating and kicking. Her body became black and blue
and she was nothing but skin and bones.
* Ms. Xu Xiuling, was a teacher from the
Environmental Chemistry Institute of the Beijing University of Technology.
Because of her determination in Falun Gong, she was sent to the forced labor
camp in 2001. She was very steadfast in the brainwashing class.
* Ms. Zhuang Yanhong was 46 years old and held a
Master's degree. She was a teacher of the Human Sciences Institute of Beijing
University of Technology. In March 1994 she began practicing Falun Dafa. After
the persecution began on July 20, 1999 she persisted in Dafa practice and
clarified the truth about Dafa to the government and various people. She was
illegally detained five times and suffered cruel torture. In January 2002,
Zhuang Yanhong was sent to "the Legal Training Center" in the Beijing Public
Security Bureau where the perpetrators took turns verbally abusing, threatening,
humiliating and otherwise tormenting her. She was also detained in solitary
confinement for a long time.
* Ms. Ren Guoxian graduated from the Beijing
University of Technology. Although she successfully passed her Master's degree
thesis defense, the school did not grant her a Master's degree because she
refused to write the guarantee letter required by the university. Later, she got
a job and was eventually fired because of her determination in practicing Dafa.
Ren Guoxian has gone to appeal to the State Appeal Office many times. During the
period of the two meetings (the meetings of the National People's Congress and
the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress) in 2000, she and two
other practitioners walked into a Beijing restaurant and delivered a petition
letter to the deputies of the National People's Congress. The police detained
her and sent her back to the university authorities. Around May or June 2000,
she went to appeal on Tiananmen Square twice. The first time, she was detained
for half a month and released. In mid September 2000, she was arrested in the
Fangshan district of Beijing when handing out Dafa materials and was sentenced
to one year in a labor camp.
* Ms. Li Fengqin, about 50 years old, worked in the Property Management Division of the Beijing University of Technology. In January 1993, she began practicing Falun Gong. On the eve of the Spring Festival of 2000, Li Fengqin was arrested by plainclothes police when she was taking pictures on Tiananmen Square. She was sent to the Tiananmen Police Branch office and suffered interrogation and beating. Afterwards, she was taken back to the local police station. In the police station she was locked up in a metal cage. On February 24th she was released. In the same year she was arrested again from her home.
Beijing University
* Mr. Miao Naiyi was a graduate student from the
class of 1998 of the Department of Earth and Physics of Beijing University. In
early 2000, he was frequently taken away for interrogation due to his practicing
Falun Gong. In March 2000, he was detained for a month because he went to
clarify the truth about Falun Gong to the People's Congress. Later, the school
suspended him from school for half a year. In September 2000, because he put up
posters revealing the truth about Jiang inside the university, he was detained
for another month. In mid December, he was arrested because he went to Tiananmen
Square to appeal. His current whereabouts are unknown.
* Ms. Cheng Xulin is 50 years old. She was the
former deputy director of the Training Department of Qingniao Corporation of
Beijing University. In September 1999, she was arrested when she went to file an
appeal at the Appeal Office. Afterwards, she was sent back to the school
security department. When she again went to appeal in October, she was sent back
in handcuffs. On December 26,1999 she was arrested when she attended a trial of
Falun Gong practitioners in the intermediate-court. Later on she was released.
In April 2000, she twice went to appeal on Tiananmen Square and was arrested and
detained for a month. She was forced to quit the Party and retire. At the same
time her house was ransacked.
* Mr. Zhou Li, 29 years old, earned a Master's
degree from the Biology Department of Beijing University. In August 2001, he was
arrested by the police from Shijiazhuang city and illegally detained at the No.
1 detention center in Shijiazhuang city for several months. Later, he was
released on bail for medical treatment. In mid November 2002, he was again
arrested from his residence in Taiyuan city, Shanxi province.
* Ms. Dong Wenhua was a staff member at Beijing
University. On July 21 and 22 of 1999, she went to appeal at Fuyou street and
was detained for 24 hours.
* Mr. Luo Xiang, 28 years old, was a Ph D
student from the class of 1998 of the Philosophy Department of Beijing
University. On January 15, 2000, because of practicing the group exercises at a
practice site, the Beijing Public Security Bureau interrogated him. The school
pressured him to write a pledge; otherwise, he would be dismissed. On March 15,
2000, he was detained after he went to the Appeal Office to clarify the truth
about Dafa. He was later escorted back by the school. On June 15, 2000, he went
to Tiananmen Square and was beaten after he opened a banner reading "Falun Dafa
- Truth, Compassion, Forbearance". He was later released. In the beginning of
2001, he was arrested because he helped Falun Gong practitioners from other
locations. He was detained in Tuanhe Labor Camp and sentenced to one and a half
years of labor reeducation in March 2001.
* Ms. Li Zhangjin, 52 years old, was a senior
engineer of the Qingniao Corporation of Beijing University. She was forced to
quit the Party and retire. On December 26, 1999, she was detained for one day
because she attended a trial in the intermediate-court. On April 13, 2000, she
was detained because of going to appeal on Tiananmen Square. On April 17, she
was forcibly taken away from home to the Yanyuan police station and detained for
24 hours. On the evening of July 19, under the pretense of "talking to her", the
police from the Yanyuan police station tricked her into going to the school
security department. The City's Public Security Bureau then took her away. She
was released after being detained in the "Bomb Bureau" for a week. Before the
Spring Festival of 2001, she was arrested because of going to the home of a
Falun Gong practitioner. In April 2001, she was forcibly "brainwashed" for one
month. Afterwards she was forced to leave her home to avoid the persecution. In
November 2001, the No. 14 Division of Beijing Public Security Bureau arrested
her and ransacked her temporary residence with a charge of "'illegally gathering
and organizing communications". In October 2001, she was sentenced to one and a
half years of labor reeducation and detained in Beijing Women's Labor Camp.
* Mr. Ma Ang, 30 years old, was a graduate student of Telecommunications Department of Beijing University. In October 1999, he was arrested for reading a Falun Gong book on Tiananmen Square. He was dismissed by his workplace. He was forced to leave home to avoid the persecution. Later on he was sentenced to an undisclosed labor camp term.
* Miss. Qi Jiangli, 23 years old, was a student
of Psychology Department of Beijing University. She got her bachelor's degree in
1999 and soon after entered the Master's program. In 1999, she graduated with
honors from Beijing University and was accepted by the graduate program without
having to go through any entrance exams. In September 1999, she went to appeal
to the Appeal Office and was escorted back to the school security department. In
the same month, she was arrested when sharing experiences with other
practitioners in Tsinghua University. She was again sent to the school security
department and interrogated. In December, she was escorted back while attending
a trial in the intermediate court. The department staff tried to persuade her to
stop practicing Falun Gong several times. But because of her determination in
Falun Gong, she was disqualified from the scholarship.
* Miss. Sui Xiaoshuang, 23 years old, was a
student of the Psychology Department of Beijing University. She got her
bachelor's degree in 1999 and then entered the Master's program. Due to her
outstanding academic record, she was accepted by the graduate program without
having to take any entrance exams. She was arrested for appealing to the
People's Congress during the 1999 session and was sent back to the school
security department. The department staff also tried to persuade her to stop
practicing Falun Gong several times. But because of her determination in Falun
Gong, she was disqualified from the scholarship.
* Ms. Wang Suyun, 57 years old, was a retired
librarian at Beijing University. On December 26,1999, she was detained for 48
hours because she attended a trial in the intermediate court. She was again
detained for one day because she appealed to the State Appeal Office during the
congress session in March 2000. On April 13, 2000 she was beaten and detained
until midnight because of going to Tiananmen Square to appeal for Falun Gong. On
April 17, she was forcibly taken away from her home by police from the Yanyuan
Police Branch and detained for 24 hours. On October 6, she was arrested on
Tiananmen Square for no reason and was detained for one day. On December 28, she
was detained for 12 hours when she was applying for a new resident ID, and later
sent to the Qinghe Detention Center. She was released when the physical exam for
the detention process showed that she had high blood pressure.
* Fang Ciqing was detained for 48 hours because of attending a trial in the intermediate-court on December 26, 1999.
£Mr. Wang Huancheng, 24 years old, was a graduate student from the class of
1998 of the Life & Science College of Beijing University. On October 29,1999, he
was tricked into going to the Tiananmen Police Branch and detained because of
going to appeal during the congress session. On December 26, 1999, he was
stopped while on his way to attend a trial in the intermediate-court and sent to
the Police Branch. After being sent back, he was interrogated. His department
tried to pressure him several times. They tried to convince him to write a
pledge to not contact other practitioners, otherwise, they would dismiss him.
Because of his determination in cultivation, he was deprived of the right to
pursue a PhD after he got his Master's degree.
* Ms. Xue Weiwei, 31 years old, was a PhD
student from the class of 1998 of the Remote Sensory Institute of Beijing
University. On April 13, 2000, she and her husband went to Tiananmen Square to
clarify the truth about Falun Gong. After being arrested, she was sent back to
her hometown, Jinan, and was detained for four months. She was not allowed to
leave her room for the first three months (she was pregnant at that time). She
was fired from her job with the army and dismissed from the Party. Later,
Beijing University also dismissed her from the PhD program.
* Ms. Yang Fengling, 64 years old, was a former
senior chemist at the Department of Applied Physics of Beijing University. On
July 21 and 22, 1999, she was illegally detained for 24 hours because she went
to appeal at Fuyou Street. On December 12, 2000, she was detained for 14 days
due to her appealing on Tiananmen Square. She went on a hunger strike and
refused to drink water for 5 days, suffering from police beatings.
* Ms. Yuan Lin, about 50 years old, was a
teacher at Beijing University. She was sentenced to seven years in prison
because of her belief in Falun Gong. On October 26, 1999, she was detained for
twelve hours because she appealed by doing Falun Gong exercises on Tiananmen
Square. In January 2000 she was arrested for practicing the Falun Gong exercises
at a practice site. She was later detained at the Haidian Police Branch for
thirteen days. After she was released, her workplace told her that she could not
work until she gave up Falun Gong. They also stopped paying her salary as of the
beginning of June. On April 25, 2000, she was arrested for appealing on
Tiananmen Square and her house was ransacked, then she was sent to the "Bomb
Bureau" and was detained there for thirty days. During the detention, she was
handcuffed with her hands behind her back, for having practiced the Falun Gong
exercises. Afterward, she was dismissed from the Party. In early 2002, Yuan Lin
was detained in the No.3 Division of the Women's Prison. Police Tian Fengqing
ordered prisoners to "transform" Yuan Lin and forced her to give up her belief
in " Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance". Yuan Lin was very determined in her
belief in Falun Gong. As a result of severe torture, she was deaf in one ear and
many wounds covered her body. What's more cruel was that after forcing her to
double cross her legs in the meditation position, they tied her legs up for
eighteen hours so that her legs could not move, during which time she could not
use the toilet or drink water. They even stepped on her neck and pressed her
body down. They forced her to face the wall and spread her legs apart. Two
people would ride on her shoulders so that her legs were split wide into a
position almost parallel to the ground. Yuan Lin went on a hunger strike to
protest the cruel abuse. The police carried out brutal force-feeding and
tortured her even further.
* Ms. Zhang Qiuyu, 62 years old, was a senior teacher. On April 13, 2000 she was detained for two days due to her appealing on Tiananmen Square. On December 12, 2000, she was again detained for two days for appealing on Tiananmen Square.
* Prof. Quan Gaoxi, 69 years old, was a former associate professor of the Biology Department of Beijing University. He was illegally detained for one month. In January 2002 he was sentenced to one and half years of labor reeducation and detained in Tuanhe Labor Camp of Beijing.
* Ms. Duan Hongxia, 33 years old, was an employee at Beijing University's Fangzheng Company. In June 2000, she was arrested because she unfurled a banner on Tiananmen Square, and detained in Qinghe detention center for one month. On the night of November seventh or eighth, police stepped into her home and took her away after ransacking the house and detained her for 12 hours. In July 2002, she was sentenced to one and half years of labor reeducation.
* Ms. Liang Fenghua, 51 years old, was a retired worker at Post Office of Beijing University. On January 22, 2001, at 8 o'clock (before the Eve of Spring Festival), she was taken away from her home by two policemen from the Qinglongqiao police station. It is said that she was detained in the Qinghe detention center.
* Mr. Cao was an employee of the Publishing
Department of Beijing University. He was detained for over ten days because he
practiced Falun Gong outdoors in September 1999.
* Ms. Jin Ying, 31 years old, was a relative of
an employee. On February 4, 2000 she was illegally detained for two days due to
her appealing on Tiananmen Square. On March 5, 2000, she was again detained for
two days due to her appealing on Tiananmen Square. In March 2000, she practiced
Falun Gong exercise at a practice site, and she was tricked into the police
station and detained there. On April 13, 2000 she was detained for 30 days
because of appealing on Tiananmen Square. While being detained, she suffered
various forms of physical abuse, as the police ordered the prisoners to beat
her.
* Ms. Wu Yunying, 58 years old, was a senior teacher. She was detained for 40 days for appealing on Tiananmen Square on February 4, 2000.
* Ms. Liu Julian, 59 years old, was the relative of an employee. She was detained for 2 days due to her appealing on Tiananmen Square on February 4, 2000. On December 12, 2000, she was arrested and taken away by the police from Zhejiang province because she appealed on Tiananmen Square. Her current whereabouts are unknown.
* Ms. Zhao Ruiyu, 24 years old, was a student
from the class of 1995 of the Department of Asian Language Study of Beijing
University. After graduation, she returned to her hometown. Between September
and October of 1999, she and her mother went to Beijing to appeal and were
arrested at the railway station. Her mother was detained. At the end of October,
she went to Beijing, this time alone. In December, she was arrested while
attending a trial in the intermediate court. In April 2000, she went to appeal
on Tiananmen Square and was escorted back to her hometown. She was detained for
a month and forced to work during her detention.
* Mr. Liu Baoqun, about 28 years old, graduated
from Beijing University. In June 2001 he was abducted by police from Fangcun
Police Station in Yuhua District, Shijiazhuang City, and forced to attend a
brainwashing class. Only 10 days after being released from the brainwashing
class, he was arrested again in Beijing. Later on he was sentenced to three
years of labor reeducation. He was detained on the No. 1 team, No. 3 group of
Shijiazhuang Forced Labor Camp.
* Ms. Wang Yue, over 40 years old, graduated
from the Philosophy Department of Beijing University. She worked as editor in
the Renmin Publishing Department. Because she practiced Falun Gong, she was
tricked by her boss to attend the "transformation class", and was later forcibly
sent to the No.7 Division of the Beijing Public Security Bureau.
* Ms. Li Jie, 29 years old, graduated from Beijing University. On October 12, 2000, she was sentenced to 5 years of imprisonment by the Beijing Xicheng Court.
* Ms. Jin Xianghua, 26 years old, graduated from the Mathematics Department of Beijing University. She was beaten and shocked by Guo Yuxin and Liu Lianying from the Heizuizi Labor Camp of Changchun city, Jilin province. She was tortured severely, and as a result she became thin and pale. She was later released on bail for medical treatment.
* Ms. Qiu Yanyan, 33 years old, graduated from
Beijing University in 1992. She can speak German, English and Urdu fluently. She
had excellent grades when she was studying at Beijing University. She currently
works at an import and export corporation. Qiu Yanyan started to practice Falun
Gong in 1998. In her work, she disciplines herself well with Falun Dafa
principles and seeks no fame or self-interest. Many times, she refused to accept
improper payments and bonuses. She is well known in her workplace for her high
degree of professional skill. At 2:00pm on February 4, 2004, when she was
preparing to come to the US on business, Qiu Yanyan was abducted at her
workplace by the Chaoyang Public Security Sub-Bureau in Beijing. Her home was
ransacked and her Falun Gong books and audiotapes, computer, printer and
passports were confiscated. Qiu Yanyan was detained in the detention center of
Chaoyang Public Security Sub-Bureau in Beijing. On March 26, 2004, she was
sentenced to two years of labor reeducation.

(Clearwisdom.net) There are many universities and colleges in Beijing. Since July 1999, Jiang Zemin has attached great importance to the persecution of Falun Gong within Beijing's higher education system. Li Lanqing stayed at Tsinghua University in person in order to investigate and deal with the so-called Falun Gong issues. To aid in the persecution of Falun Gong, Jiang's Regime established the "610 Office," an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, in Beijing's Teaching Staff Committee. The "610 Office" uses top authorities at each university or college to coerce teachers and students who practice Falun Gong to give up their belief. Each work unit is required to keep a list of those who do not give up their belief. People on the list are forced by the "610 Office" to pay around 5,000 Yuan (1) to enroll in the notorious "Beijing Legal Training Center," where practitioners are subjected to intense brainwashing, and forced to watch videos and read books defaming Falun Gong. After repeated brainwashing, those who still insist on practicing Falun Gong are sent directly to forced labor camps. The "610 Office" in Beijing's Teaching Staff Committee has persecuted countless practitioners from universities and colleges in Beijing in this way, because they followed the principles of "Truth-Compassion-Tolerance."
In brainwashing classes, the "610 Office" requires each work unit to provide staff for 24-hour surveillance of the "students." Practitioners are not allowed to study Falun Dafa books, or practice the exercises. They are not allowed to make phone calls, but they are asked to report every day. Security guards violently "escort" practitioners from their room to the Tuanhe Forced Labor Camp every morning, and back again in the evening. Security guards and surveillance staff watch over practitiones throughout the evening. They are on guard in the corridors and outside the building to make sure no practitioners escape.
What follows are some persecution cases of Falun Gong practitioners in Beijing's higher education system:
Agricultural University of China
Mr. Zhang Wenge, a Ph.D graduate from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, is an associate professor of the Electronics & Electric Power Engineering Institute, and an outstanding young scholar. He is the university's primary research scientist. Because he appealed for Falun Gong many times, and because of his unshakable belief in Falun Gong, he was illegally abducted on April 24, 2000, and sentenced to one year in a Daxing County forced labor camp. His dorm room was searched as well. He has been detained in Tuanhe Forced Labor Camp twice. On September 20, 2003, staff from the detention center of the Haidian District Public Security Bureau abducted him and searched his home again. At the same time, his wife, Tang Fang, an employee of a foreign venture, who graduated from China's University of Political Science & Law, was also arrested.

Mr. Zhou Xiaojun is a relative of an employee at the Emei Cement Factory, and a student of Class 995 at the Chinese Agriculture Farming University. The school illegally suspended him for one year because of his persistence in practicing Falun Gong. While he lived at home, the police threatened that his whole family and relatives would be implicated, and family members dismissed from their jobs if he continued to practice Falun Gong. Because of this, he was forced to leave home in early March 2001 and go from place to place. Even now, his whereabouts are unknown.

Su Chenbin, a student of the Electronics & Electric Power Engineering Institute, was illegally suspended from school simply because he practiced Falun Gong exercises on campus in early June 2000.
Tang Nansheng, a student of the Administrative Engineering Institute, was unlawfully suspended from school for one year for practicing Falun Gong exercises on campus in early June 2000.
Liao Xiaohui, a student of enrollment 97 from the business department of the Administrative Engineering Institute, was forcibly suspended from school for one year for practicing Falun Gong exercises on campus in early June 2000.
Tan Haibin, a student of enrollment 98 from the Mechanics & Manufacturing Department, was suspended from school for one year for practicing Falun Gong exercises on campus.
Ms. Zhou Xiangyuan, 32, is a graduate of the Agricultural University of China, and is also an employee of a foreign enterprise. In April 2000 she was sentenced to one year of forced labor in the Beijing Women's Prison. On September 20, 2003, people from the detention center of Haidian District Public Security Bureau arrested her and her husband, Dr. Wang Yongqian. They also searched their home without justification. Wang Yongqian, a 33-year-old post doctor, is an outstanding young scholar and a primary research scientist working in the key national lab of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Mr. Shen Yingbai, 43, is a professor at the Beijing Forestry University and dean of a university department. He is an excellent young academic. He was abducted and sent to a detention center for brainwashing many times. On September 20, 2003, people from the detention center at the Haidian District Public Security Bureau abducted him and four other practitioners simply because they practice Falun Gong, and their homes were illegally searched.

Ms. Chen Haifeng is a teacher from Beijing Chemical Industry University. On March 8, 2001, she was abducted along with five other female Falun Gong practitioners. They were illegally taken to Tuanhe Forced Labor Camp, where they were detained for fifteen days and subjected to forced brainwashing. In April, 2001, Ms. Chen was sentenced to forced labor reeducation because she published a solemn statement on Clearwisdom.net. Another teacher from the same university was also sentenced to forced labor for resisting brainwashing and refusing to stop practicing Falun Dafa.

Ms. Hao Li, who works in Beijing Chemical Industry University, is denied several hundred Yuan each month from her salary because she practices Falun Gong. Her daughter is a school pupil, and her husband Li Zili, is a graduate with a master's degree, and was an employee of the Import & Export Company of China Non-Medal Minerals Industry. He has been illegally detained many times for appealing for Falun Gong. On August 18, 2000, he was sent to the Beijing Tuanhe Forced Labor Camp.
Beijing Industry and Commerce University
Ms. Lei Xiaoting, a graduate from the Foreign Language Department, Beijing University, is a teacher at Beijing Industry and Commerce University. In October 1999, she participated in the Falun Dafa press conference held in Beijing and acted as one of the interpreters. Through the foreign correspondents present at the conference, the truth about Falun Gong practitioners in China being brutally persecuted was exposed and spread to the world. On the evening of November 5, she was abducted from her dormitory room by police from the No. 7 Branch, Beijing Public Security Bureau, and has rarely been heard of since. By April 2000, her parents learned that she was secretly sentenced to two years imprisonment.

On October 1, 2000, three students from Beijing Industry and Commerce University were arrested when they went to Tiananmen Square to peacefully appeal.
Ms. Zhu Xiaomei, 22, is a student in the Department of Chemical Engineering. Soon after she was picked up by the school, Zhu Xiaomei was taken away by the security department. She is listed as a primary target for surveillance.
Ms. Zeng Yanxia, 22, is a student in the Department of Business Administration. Because she refused to give her name, she was taken to Miyun Police Substation, where she jumped out the window of the washroom. She broke her foot in the attempt to escape, and was sent back to the school. The authorities and teachers of the university all view her as an excellent student, both academically and morally. Her classmates respect her as well, but she was placed on the blacklist at the university because she firmly insists on practicing Falun Dafa. In September 2000, she was abducted from her dormitory room by police from the No. 14 Branch, Beijing Public Security Bureau (in charge of the higher education system). After a whole day's interrogation, she was taken back to her dormitory, which was illegally searched by police. The school security department also threatened her.
Mr. Sun Xuebing, 24, a graduate student in the Department of Mechanics was abducted by police. When the police brought him back they searched his dormitory room. After he packed some clothes, the police took him away again. He has not been heard from since. Sun Xuebing was a diligent student and won a scholarship every year. He was highly esteemed by his teachers and respected by his classmates. Sun was blacklisted at the university because he firmly insists on practicing Falun Dafa.

Ms. Zhao Xin was an assistant professor at Beijing's Industry and Commerce University. She was born in Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province on June 28, 1968. She was a very kind person and an excellent teacher. On June 19, 2000, she was arrested after practicing Falun Gong exercises in Zizhuyuan Park in Beijing. She was sent to a detention center in Beijing's Haidian district. Due to beatings during detention, the vertebra at the fourth, fifth and sixth joints of her neck were fractured. It's a miracle that she survived, but she was paralyzed from the neck down. With her firm will and unshakable belief in Dafa, she lived for six months, enduring unimaginable suffering. On December 11, 2000, she died, at the age of 32.

Ms. Gu Xuefen, 62, is a retired official from the Internal Trade Bureau, and lives at the Beijing Industry and Commerce University. In early July 2000, she was arrested at home by three police officers from the Ganjiakou Police Substation. Her husband went to the police station to inquire about her situation, but he was told that Ms. Gu had already been sent to the Qinghe Detention Center.

Beijing Teacher's University
Wang Diangang from Dalian City, Liaoning Province was a student at the Beijing Teacher's University. He was expelled from school for no reason. Both his parents are Falun Gong practitioners. His mother, Qi Xuming, was a teacher at the No. 123 Middle School of Dengshahe Town, Dalian City. One day in July 2000, Li Wenxiang, Party Secretary of the Township Politics & Law Committee, abducted her and took her to Masanjia Forced Labor Camp, disregarding the required legal procedures. His father, Wang Youbao, went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong in October 2000. He was escorted back by police officers and detained in the Jinzhou District detention center.

On June 19, 2000, Mr. Rong Wei went outdoors to practice the Falun Dafa exercises. The school sent him to Haidian Detention Center, where he was kept in custody for 30 days. After July 22, 1999, he was dismissed from work simply because he refused to write the so-called "Guarantee Statement." (2) In early November 2000, he was arrested while distributing truth-clarifying materials, and detained at the Haidian Detention Center. His wife, Xiao Gao, who had been illegally detained for fifteen days for a so-called illegal gathering at Beijing Gallery, was forcibly taken to Tuanhe Forced Labor Camp by her work unit on July 21, 2000. Policemen from the local police substation went to her parents' home, and asking her whereabouts. They also asked her parents to write a promise statement to take care of the couple's five-year-old daughter.

Mr. Xu Fan, in his thirties, graduated from Beijing Teacher's University with a master's degree, and had studied in Mexico for three years. At the end of 2000, he was illegally sentenced to one and a half years in a forced labor camp with the charge of "disturbing social order" because he carried Falun Gong materials with him. He was detained in Team Two of the Tuanhe Forced Labor Camp.
Beijing Aerospace University
Mr. Shao Mingxue, 34, is a post-doctoral graduate from Beijing Teacher's University. After graduation in October 2000, he began work at Beijing Aerospace University. The university fired him simply because he practices Falun Gong, In February 2001, people from the National Security Bureau unlawfully entered his home and abducted him. In April 2001, his parents and mother-in-law came to Beijing from Shandong Province and Gansu Province, asking to see him. They were denied a visit. We have been informed that he has been sentenced to prison, but the details are unknown.
Mr. Bai Rongchun, a graduate of Beijing Aerospace University, was a computer engineer and a program manager at Qinghua Ziguang and Tongfang Cooperation. In May 2001, police wrongfully arrested him. In September 2002, a Beijing court illegally sentenced him to 13 years in prison. He has been sent back to Liaoning Province, and it is possible that he is detained in Dabei Prison in Shenyang, Liaoning Province.

Zhu Zhiliang, who graduated from Beijing Aerospace University with a master's degree, was detained in the intensified brainwashing class in Tuanhe Forced Labor Camp for insisting on practicing Falun Gong. Zhu Zhiliang now suffers from a mental disorder due to severe persecution.
Central Chinese Ethnic School
Mr. Li Chunyuan is from Korea, and was a lecturer at the Central Chinese Ethnic School. At the end of 2000, he filed a charge against Jiang Zemin, citing Jiang's disregard for the law and constitution in persecuting Falun Dafa practitioners. Li Lanqing was angered by this action, and had him secretly arrested by the police on December 28, 2000 and sentenced to one and a half years of forced labor. At the Forced Labor Terminal Center, the police officers shocked him with electric batons on the back, face, and penis. One time, when a policeman intended to beat him, and he warned the policeman, "If you keep doing that, I will cut you into two with the hand thunder power." As a result, the policeman could not lower his hand. In forced labor camp, he has never yielded to the evil, even though he was subjected to forcible brainwashing every day. The police guards instructed people to write slanderous words on his body. For over twenty days, he was deprived of sleep, and was still forced to do hard labor during the day, including carrying garbage, digging sewer tunnels, and other heavy work. Li Chunyuan continues to behave very righteously and earns respect of others.

The Northern Jiaotong University
Ms. Sun Chunhua, 29, came to work in the Northern Jiaotong University after graduation, with a master's degree from the University of International Business and Economics. In 2000, Sun was dismissed from the university for practicing Falun Gong. She had to live on her income as a substitute teacher at other schools. Once after a lecture, she gave a Falun Gong truth-clarifying flyer to every student. On May 25, she was taken away from her class and detained in Paoju Detention Center. Later she was sentenced to forced labor.
Mr. Duan Yi, 26, is Sun Chunhua's husband. Because of his excellent record at Northern Jiaotong University, after graduation he was offered a position in the university. In 2000, he quit his job, and on July 21, 2001, he went to Tiananmen Square to appeal for Falun Gong. After that, he was illegally detained.
Ms. Wang Yi is a young teacher from the Foreign Languages Department of the Northern Jiaotong University. Before she began practicing Falun Dafa, she was in very poor condition, and often fainted while giving lectures. After practicing Falun Gong, her health improved tremendously; but she has been deprived the right to teach since July 1999 because she insists on practicing Falun Dafa. On September 30, 2001, she was abducted and sent to Qinghe Detention Center. She went on hunger strike in protest. Wang Yi's husband, Xu Ming, deceived Wang Yi's father, and helped the police to arrest her. Xu Ming's response to Wang Yi's hunger strike was, "If she does not 'transform', let her stay there."

(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Dafa practitioner Liu Zhibin was from Xiguan Village, Wuling Town, Lingqiu County, Shanxi Province. He had been detained many times for going to Beijing to appeal for Falun Dafa. In July 2002 he was sentenced to four years in prison and died in Shanxi Provincial Prison on July 20, 2004.
Mr. Liu Zhibin, 50 years old, was a small business owner in Xiguan Village. As a dedicated Falun Dafa practitioner, he was frequently arrested for daring to tell the true facts about Falun Dafa.
In July 2002, Liu Zhibin was arrested for passing out informative materials
designed to help the public learn more of the facts about Falun Dafa. He was
detained in the Lingqiu County Detention Center several months before beginning
his four-year prison sentence in the No. 1 Shanxi Provincial Prison located in
Qi County. After he died in prison on July 20, 2004, his family was notified
that he had died of a heart attack. But when his family saw his body, they found
it covered with wounds. Handcuff marks were clearly visible on his wrists, as
were many scars from electric batons and wounds from cruel beatings. His body
was in a horrible condition. In the end, prison officials tried to Page: 1
pay his family off with a sum of money. The details of this case need to be
investigated.

(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Dafa practitioner Song Zhenling from Huazhuang Village, Lutai Township, Huaiyang County, Henan Province and his wife Wang Guijin are both in their 30's. Police in Lutai Substation forced Wang Jingui to abort her 9 month old fetus. Ms. Wang was admitted to the County Birth Plan Technical Guidance Station, and put under 24 hour a day monitoring by 4 policemen.
In 2000, this couple was detained in the Huaiyang County Detention Center because they went to Beijing to appeal. Their families later bailed them out. They left home to avoid near certain arrest and were living in another practitioner's home, but were detained again after' police ransacked that' home in 2001. They went on a hunger strike and finally were both released after 29 days. After being released they had to remain homeless in order to avoid being illegally arrested again, and eked out a living selling tofu in Dancheng County.
On February 21, 2004, many Falun Dafa material centers in Zhoukou region were raided by police. On February 26, Dancheng County police arrested them, along with their 4-year-old child. Police found Falun Dafa Books and a notebook computer in their rental house, and suspected that their place served as an internet connection point. They were transferred back to the Huaiyang County Detention Center. Mr. Song Zhenling has been on hunger strike nearly 200 days now, and his life is in danger. Ms. Wang Guijin was also on a hunger strike for 22 days and almost died. The Detention Center released her [along with her son] for fear of being responsible for their death.
After one month, the County "610 Office" and police from the Township Police Substation came to their home to arrest her, but failed. They took away her father and some of her relatives instead. Her father was sentenced to a 1-year prison term for the so-called ""crime"" of ""hiding criminals"." Her relatives had to be bailed out and cost the couple several thousand yuan in fines. The Vice Director of the County Police Station, Zheng Xianfang, said, "If we can not arrest her, we will arrest all those we can find, no matter if they are adults or children."
Police officer Zheng Wei, nephew of Zheng Xianfang, reported Ms. Wang. Police arrested her again and locked her up in Huaiyang Detention Center. They found out she was pregnant and then released her. The County "610 Office" instructed Lutai Police Substation to monitor Ms. Wang. The Director of Lutai Substation, Dai Zhengyun, was afraid he would not be able to torture Ms. Wang after she gave birth to the child, so he had the idea of forcing her to abort her baby, using birth control as the excuse [Note: China still has the one-child policy in enforcement]. Ms. Wang was resisting the torture, but several police pressed down on her belly to force the baby out, and killed the baby in the process.
Ms. Wang is still being watched closely in the County Birth Plan Technical Guidance Station. Police are waiting for her one-month recovery period to end so they can take her back to the detention center for further torture.

My name is Mei Bilin; I am a teacher at the Forestry Technical College in Yunnan Province (formerly the Yunnan Forestry School). My husband Zhou Mofang is a Falun Dafa practitioner. On October 30 2002, he was abducted by plainclothes police officers from Guandu District. Later he was secretly sentenced to five years in jail, and he is now detained at the Yunnan Province No. 1 Prison.
Zhou Mofang is 52 years old. He graduated from the Chengdu Physical Education and Sports Institute in 1977, and he has been a teacher at the Yunnan Forestry School. He is an open-minded and forthright person, well educated in martial arts and Qigong. But before he practiced Falun Gong, he was an alcoholic. He would get drunk once or twice every two or three days, and he would beat our child and me while he was drunk. Since I am physically weak and frequently get sick, life with a drunken husband was a nightmare for my child and me.
In 1994, right at the time I decided to divorce him, he started practicing Falun Gong. He told me that he practiced many different kinds of Qigong and found that Falun Gong was unusual. To my surprise, his belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance quickly changed him. It was a real miracle. He gave up smoking and drinking and became kind-mannered. He showed much more concern for our child and me, and he began to have a harmonious relationship with his colleagues. During the 20 years of our marriage, he never cared about house chores, but after he started to practice Falun Gong, he called himself a house-husband and started cooking for me. The first time I ate the food he cooked for us, I said with happiness: "What a day, the sun rises from the west!" He replied with smile: "It's because of the goodness of Falun Dafa. Teacher told us to be good persons in any situation."
At his work place, he no longer vied for personal benefits in crucial issues such as apartment allocation or promotions. He applied for the senior professional title for three consecutive years without success, each time just short of one vote, but he never complained or argued with his supervisors. That would be impossible if he had not practiced Falun Gong. In May 2001, he was presented with a sportsmanship award in the National Ping pong Competition of the Forestry System. Some of his colleagues said: "Zhou Mofang really changed for the better after he began practicing Falun Gong." Actually, my family was not the only one saved by Falun Dafa. Millions of Falun Gong practitioners have benefited through the practice. They feel they are reborn after practicing Falun Gong. Falun Dafa is so powerful and has brought much beauty to society.
But on July 20, 1999, the cruel persecution of Falun Gong started. On one side, all of the state-run media including TV, radio, and newspapers started to spread lies and defame Falun Gong. On the other side, they started monitoring, threatening, and arresting Falun Gong practitioners. Using high pressure and the policy of implication (1), Jiang Zemin's regime applied pressure to Falun Gong practitioners' employers, schools, and families, and they instigated the masses to hate Falun Gong practitioners...
On the afternoon of December 22, 1999, my husband and I were at a friend's home. Suddenly four plain-clothes police officers came in. They abducted Zhou Mofang to the Police Department of Kunming City to "verify" an issue. But actually he was sent to a forced labor camp for a year. He got the "notice of sentence" three months after he had been in the labor camp. We, his family members, did not get any message about him from the authorities.
At 7:40 am on October 30, 2002, which was the period before the opening of the16th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party, seven or eight plain-clothes police officers broke into my home and arrested my husband and me. When I asked the reason, they said, "You go ask our superior." During the arrest process, they did not follow any legal procedures and even took about 3,000 yuan (2) of our cash. Eight months after the arrest, I learned that my husband, Zhou Mofang, was secretly sentenced to 5 years in jail and secretly sent to the Yunnan Province's No. 1 Prison. During the whole process, we family members did not get any information about my husband or any legal events.
We are very worried about his situation. Even though he was a strong and healthy person, his whole body is now swollen and he is suffering from hypertension due to his imprisonment. It has lasted over one year and shows no sign of recovery. Once, he fainted and fell to the ground, breaking three of his ribs and leaving him unable to walk with ease. I asked to bail him out for medical treatment, but the jail authorities said he must first promise to give up Falun Gong.
Falun Gong practitioners are good people who believe in Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance. Is it a crime for one to strive to be a good person? Do they want to reform a good person into a bad person, so that I can have a bad-tempered drunken husband again? Isn't that inhumane? This is not just physical torture; it's the destruction of basic human conscience and good values.
Xiao Yang, the Head of the People's Supreme Court, pointed out on June 18, 2004: "It's an important rule in the criminal law that those who commit crimes should be sentenced, and those who are innocent should be released. If the law did not define a certain behavior a crime, then punishment would not be made." President Hu Jintao advocates that: "Take people as the most important, pay attention to people's lives." My name is Sun Dianbin and I am a Falun Dafa practitioner. Because of my beliefs, I was sentenced to a 10-year imprisonment term by the Jixi City Court of Heilongjiang Province. I was sent to Harbin City Prison on April 12, 2002. At Harbin City Prison, all of the illegally detained practitioners suffered from various levels of physical abuse and mental persecution. In the beginning, the prison officers withheld letters, did not allow any family members to visit us, sent someone to monitor us all the time, set up limitations for going to the restrooms, and performed forced brainwashing. Later on, they started to beat us and implemented other physical and mental tortures. The following are two examples of how they persecuted me.
The Harbin City Prison Training Center Unit assistant team leader Zhang Jiushan put me into a small cell in order to force me to write the "three statements." Xu Ziqiang and She Junjie were sent to the No.1 cell and started to torture me. In the meantime, Zhao Jun, who was imprisoned at the same time as me, also suffered from similar persecution. Later on, he was sent to the hospital for medical treatment. After they threw me into the small cell, they put a pair of more than 50-pound foot shackles and cuffed my two hands together to a ring-link on the ground. I was forced to curl into a ball by this position. Xu Ziqiang then began to punch and kick me. I had bruises on my head, back, ribs, legs and all over my body. I lost consciousness during the brutal beating. I also lost control of my bowel movements. They tortured me for four days like this. During this time, Xu Ziqiang said, "Do you know what I am doing this for? I was sent by Leader Zhang to come and forcefully transform you. If we cannot convert you, we will set you afire after you die. I will only get three more years of imprisonment if I beat you to death." They tortured me to the brink of mental collapse.
On March 18, 2004, we had to answer some questions. Because my answer was not satisfactory for Zhang Jiushan, I, together with several Dafa practitioners including Li Chengyi, Zhang Yuliang, Zhang Chuanqi, experienced torture by a few criminals such as Guan Dejun, Liu Yanpeng, Jing Zhidong, Li Donghui and criminal "trainer" Liu Zhongli. They were all directed to do this by Zhang Jiushan. They forced us to hold a gesture called "riding a horse", meaning that we stood still and lowered our necks and placed our foreheads against the wall. Our bodies could not move even a little bit. Otherwise, we would suffer from brutal beatings. They made us keep that position until late in the second half of the night, only after which we could go to bed. During the daytime, we had to participate in the team assembly training, and we were not allowed to rest and were punished by being forced to stand for long time. Such persecution lasted for a week. In the meantime, Guan Dejun said, "Leader Zhang asked me to teach you a hard lesson." When we had team assembly training, Liu Zhongli said, "Leader Zhang told us to beat them hard. As long as they are still breathing and are not dead, it is good enough." Their abuse and persecution caused tremendous damage to us both physically and mentally.
I want to give two more examples of how Dafa practitioners were tortured in Harbin City Prison.
Dafa practitioner Bian Fanwei, who was detained in the tenth division in Harbin City Prison (and was transferred to Daqing City Prison on July 1), suffered from extreme torture by criminals who were ordered to persecute him. The criminals tied him up with rope and hammered sharpened chopsticks into his nails. They also used electric meters and electric needles to shock Bian Fanwei's body. In the winter, they stripped off his clothes and drenched him in a pool of water. They then exposed him to the harsh winter wind. Cold water was poured on him again and then, they left him outside.
Dafa practitioner Wang Dayuan was a professor in the Harbin Institute of Technology and was 32 years old. He was beaten to death by criminals incited by the second division guards in Harbin City Prison because he refused to write the "four statements" to renounce his belief. His fingers, two ribs, and arms were broken. He later died as a result of his injuries, in particular a broken rib rupturing his spleen. His death was announced publicly and verified by a medical doctor.
We appealed our case to higher authorities from Harbin City Prison, but our materials were withheld. In order to cover their actions, they transferred us one by one to other locations. In Daqing Prison, 30 of us Dafa practitioners submitted another appeal letter to a higher authority, condemning Harbin Prison's guards and some criminals, and asking them to fulfill their legal responsibilities.
We hope that our respected court procurators will handle this issue with fairness and return to us our legal human rights.

(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Yi Chunxiu went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong in May of 2000. The district police officers, together with Shi Yuxiu, the ruling Party Secretary of Tuanjie Community, and more than 10 other officers searched her home, took away her Dafa books and extorted 1,500 yuan (1) from her family. On October 12, 2000, headed by Shu Yong, officers from the local "610 Office" arrested Ms. Yi at a fellow Dafa practitioner's home. She was detained for one month, and was fined 1,500 yuan. On June 6, 2001, Yi Chunxiu delivered materials explaining the truth of Dafa to Gongping, Zhijiang, and was arrested by four police officers. The four dragged Ms. Yi by her feet for several hundred meters, and also beat her with an umbrella until the handle broke into three pieces. At the Zhijiang Detention Center, Yi Chunxiu was handcuffed many times, once for 13 hours. The head of the detention center police, officer Zhao, punched and kicked Ms. Yi, leaving more than ten injuries on her body. On September 1, 2001, Yi Chunxiu was illegally sentenced to a forced labor camp for one year. Under such high pressure, her husband, who is not a Falun Gong practitioner, is on the verge of a mental collapse.
Ms. Yao Zhumei is 68 years old. Before she practiced Falun Gong, she was semi-paralyzed with heart disease. She could not raise her right arm, and could not stand up. She spent tens of thousands of yuan on medical treatments, but her disease was not cured. Through practicing Falun Gong, she regained her health. In May 2000, Ms. Yao, together with five other Dafa practitioners, went to the Women's Association in Beijing to verify the goodness of Dafa in person. There she was detained by the local "610 Office" for two months, then subjected to another month of brainwashing. The "610 Office" also colluded with Ms. Yao's employer to extort her out of 7,000 yuan. In January 2001, Yao Zhumei was arrested because she handed out Dafa truth-clarification materials. She went on a hunger strike for 7 days to protest the persecution, and was released. In March 2002, Xiao, the head of the Yingfeng Police Station, under false pretenses, got her into a room on the second floor of the Xiann Hotel. There she was illegally interrogated, and was deprived of sleep for two days.
Ms. Zhou Ailing is a Dafa practitioner from Qiancheng. Only a few days after she delivered a baby, officers from the local government searched her home, took away Dafa books and tried to coerce her into defaming Falun Gong on TV, which she refused to do. Since she would not tell lies, she and her newborn baby were forced to go back to her mother's home in Jiangsu Province. In 2001, Ms. Zhou brought some Dafa truth-clarification materials to town. Local police officers tried to arrest her. Zhou Ailing left home to avoid the ongoing persecution. Police officers detained her husband, who is not a practitioner, for seven days, and fined her family 4,000 yuan.
Ms. Liu Qingying was arrested on October 7, 2000 because she clarified the truth of Dafa and the persecution to people. She was detained for 15 days, then held at another detention center for a month, and was fined several thousand yuan.
On May 1, 2001, officers from the Yingfeng Police Station, Hecheng District, arrested Yang Jinlian. She was held at a detention center and later a jail. Ms. Yang failed to pass the entrance physical exam when sent to a forced labor camp, and was released. But she was still fined 1,000 yuan.
Ms. Zhou Yunxia is an employee at the 7th Construction Company of Huaihua City. She was arrested in late 2000, and was detained for 15 days. Ms. Zhou was arrested again on May 1, 2001, and was fined several thousand yuan. In October 2001, Zhou Yunxia was arrested while handing out Dafa truth-clarification materials in Ningxiang, Xiangtan City.
Ms. Luo Yunxia was detained for 15 days because she went to Beijing to appeal on June 12, 2000. At the end of the same month, the Tuoyuan Police Station and the "610 Office" interrogated her for a whole day. On October 12, 2000, Ms. Luo was at a friend's home when police officers Shu Yong, Wang, and more than ten other officers from the Political and Security Section, arrested her and detained her for one and a half months. In January 2002, Ms. Luo was sharing experiences with several Dafa practitioners at a practitioner's home, when ten police officers arrived in six police cars, abducted her and illegally detained her.
Ms. Liu Guifen is a worker in a cotton mill. On July 23, 1999, under false pretenses, she was talked into going to the Yingfeng Police Station and was interrogated by Wang, the head of the Political and Security Section. On October 4, 1999, Ms. Liu headed to Beijing to appeal, but was stopped and arrested on the train. Police officer Shu Yong detained her for seven days. On November 5, 1999, Ms. Liu was deceived again into going the Tuoyuan Police Station. On October 12, 2000, Liu Guifen was arrested from her home and was sent to a forced labor camp for a one-year term.
Mr. Wei Guimei is an employee of the 7th Construction Company of Huaihua City. In mid-June 2000, Mr. Wei was arrested and detained for 15 days because he went to Beijing to appeal. That October, he was arrested at Ningxiang and was sent to forced labor camp for one year. In 2002, Mr. Wei was again arrested at Ningxiang. His salary was deducted and he was again sent to a forced labor camp. Now Mr. Wei has been released. Since he continues to practice Falun Gong, his company evicted him from the company apartment. Now he has nowhere to stay.
Mr. Zeng Guangbin is an employee of the 7th Construction Company of Huaihua City. He was detained for 15 days when he went to Beijing to appeal in 2000. In the same year, he was arrested in Ningxiang while handing out Dafa truth-clarification materials.
Wang Aizhang and He Saixian were both detained for 15 days for going to Beijing to appeal on December 23, 2000.
Ms. He Manyu went to Beijing to appeal in 2000, and was detained for 15 days by the "610 Office." In December 2002, she was arrested at home, detained for 40 days, and fined 3,000 yuan.
Ms. Yang Shiai, Ms. Tang Kaiju, and Ms. Zhang Yuanyu all went to Beijing to appeal in 2000, and were detained for 15 days. Ms. Yang was fined 2,000 yuan and Ms. Tang was fined 2,500 yuan. In December 2002, Ms. Zhang was detained at home for 15 days by the Huaihua City "610 Office."
Mr. Li Yingchun went to Beijing to appeal in June 2000. He was detained for one week in Beijing and then for 15 days at Huaihua. He was fined 2,000 yuan.
Mr. Hu Tingyu was reported while delivering Dafa truth-clarification materials together with three other practitioners on June 19, 2001. Police officers arrested him and detained him at the Yingfeng Police Station, and then at the 2nd Detention Center. He was fined 3,000 yuan and sentenced to one year in a forced labor camp. In February 2002, Mr. Hu and four other Dafa practitioners were studying the Fa (2) at a fellow practitioner's home in Shimen. Police head Tian of the Shimen Police Station arrested him. He was handcuffed, his Dafa books were taken away, his clothes were torn apart and he was fined 2,000 yuan.
Mr. Yang Xiaohui opened his own clinic in the east part of the city. In August 1999, the "610 Office" detained Mr. Yang because he went to Beijing to appeal. In October 2000, police officer Shu Yong and officers from the Tuoyuan Police Station abducted him and detained him for 30 days. In March 2001, Mr. Yang was abducted again at the Eastern City Vegetable Market, but he escaped. In July 2001, Yang Xiaohui was reported on for delivering Dafa truth-clarification materials in Anjiang. He was arrested and detained at the Huaihua City Detention Center. In September, he was sentenced to a forced labor camp. On the way to the forced labor camp, he managed to escape in Zhuzhou City and walked to Changsha City along the railroad tracks. On September 29, 2002, before the "October 1st National Day," the Hecheng "610 Office" and police officers arrested over 20 Dafa practitioners in one day and truth-clarification materials production sites were destroyed. Yang Xiaohui was among the arrested practitioners. He was detained at the Huaihua City Detention Center for about one year. In 2003, the Hecheng District Court sentenced him to 9 years in prison. He was also forced into a divorce.

(Clearwisdom.net) Over the past 4 years, the Third Forced Labor Camp of Henan Province has tried to brainwash Falun Gong practitioners into giving up Falun Gong, using two major tactics: the "soft" way and the "hard" way. Using a variety of methods, the perpetrators deceive, threaten, terrorize, and torture practitioners abducted and brought to the labor camp from all over Henan Province.
For the "soft" way, the authorities attempt to deceive the practitioners by fabricating lies to confuse right and wrong, and take advantage of the practitioners' relatives to try force the practitioners to give up their belief in Falun Gong. They put pressure on spouses to divorce practitioners, and separate parents from children, all in an attempt to force practitioners to give up their belief.
For the so-called "hard" way, they torture the practitioners using all manner of vicious means. Labor camp personnel have tortured practitioners with methods called "Tying the Ropes" (1) and "Big Hang Up" (2), they use high-voltage electric batons to shock practitioners, and routinely beat and kick practitioners.
Among all the tortures, the cruelest methods are, "Comfort Chair" (a torture instrument) and "Tying the Ropes." These two in particular have caused many practitioners to become disabled. During a major in-house campaign to try to "transform" a large number of practitioners, many practitioners were tortured under these two means. Ms. Yue Caiyun lost feeling in both of her feet and even now has not recovered.
The following are cases of persecution suffered by practitioners in the Third Forced Labor Camp of Henan Province:
Mr. Pang Liang, 29 years old, was the political director of the Armed Police Brigade of Jiaozuo City of Henan. He was detained because he refused to give up his belief in Falun Gong. At the end of 2002 the police guards became furious because he shouted out words in support of Falun Dafa. They instigated criminal inmates to cover Mr. Pang's mouth, pushed him down to the floor, and then beat and kicked him repeatedly. Afterwards, they dragged him to the brigade office. Jia Zigang, the director of the brigade, and others, tied him up and shocked him with an electrical baton. Afterwards, they continued to beat him mercilessly. The beating caused a fracture in his right arm.
In June 2003, Mr. Pang Liang sent one of Teacher's lectures to other practitioners and it was discovered by guards. They brought Pang Liang to an empty room and put him on the "Comfort Chair." They tied his legs to the chair, put earphones on his ears and put a helmet on his head. Then, they repeatedly played the audio slandering Falun Dafa. They had two persons monitoring him. For one week the guards didn't allow Mr. Pang to sleep, didn't give him enough food, and sometimes didn't even allow him to use the bathroom. This torture caused Mr. Pang's legs to be swollen for 2 months. The torture also caused his broken arm to become worse. He had to keep his arm bent all the time, and was unable to do use it.
From the end of May to early of June of 2004, the Third Brigade stopped working and held criticizing sessions against Pang Liang. When Mr. Pang was brought out, his arms were tied with rope; his neck was covered with big blisters caused by the electric baton, his face was red and swollen due to the beatings and his mouth was full of blood. When witnessing this, even the labor camp personnel felt indignant.
Mr. Zhao Yongzhong is a 35-year-old practitioner from Mengzhou City. In 2002 he was abducted and brought to the forced labor camp because he refused to renounce Falun Gong. Mr. Zhao Yongzhong held a hunger strike for over a month to resist the persecution. During the hunger strike he was frequently force-fed. Mr. Zhao is still detained in the forced labor camp, where he has been abused, beaten, and insulted. The intensity of the persecution is hard to imagine. Mr. Zhao's mind became unclear due to the constant torture. However, the guards took advantage of his situation and said he had become "psychotic" as a result of practicing Falun Dafa.
Mr. Li Jinke was a doctor from Nanyang City. He held a hunger strike on several occasions to protest the persecution. Due to the intense persecution, he endured tremendous mental suffering and began to show signs of mental problems. His situation is similar to that of Mr. Zhao Yongzhong.
Before they were imprisoned in the forced labor camp, Mr. Zhao Yongzhong and Mr. Li Jinke were both honest, diligent, rational persons at home and at work. They have suffered mental problems solely because of the relentless persecution they experienced in the forced labor camp.
There are a great many cases of persecution happening in the Third Forced Labor Camp of Henan Province. Those listed above are only a very small selection. I posted them to let all Falun Gong practitioners and people throughout the world know about the real situation in this forced labor camp.

(1) Tying the Ropes - The police tie up the practitioner with a thin rope, circle the rope around his neck, and tie his hands behind his back. Then the police would use all the force they could muster to tighten the rope. The rope becomes tighter and tighter around the body of the practitioner, and makes it more and more difficult for him to breathe. The pain is so intense that the practitioner sometimes loses control of his bladder. There are instances when the rope was tightened enough to break a practitioner's arm.
(2) Big Hang Up - There are two forms in this torture: (1) With both hands shackled behind the back and only the toes touching the ground, one is hung by a rope that is tied to a metal window frames; (2) One hand of a practitioner is handcuffed to one bunk bed and the other hand to another bed, and the two beds are pulled in the opposite directions. It is extremely painful as the body is pulled.
(Clearwisdom.net) Dafa practitioner Mou Naiwu from Weifang City, Shandong Province was a teacher at the Weifang Institute. He passed away on June 13, 2004 after suffering from atrocities of the persecution. For details please read "Falun Gong Practitioner Mou Naiwu from Weifang City Killed in the Persecution, His Wife and Daughter Left with No Means for Survival".
It has been over two months since Mou Naiwu passed away. Cheng Qingjun, secretary of the Weifang Institute's Party Committee, refused to pay back five years of salary that was unreasonably withheld from Mou Naiwu, and accused Mou Naiwu of being "anti-Party," and other political incorrectness. Mou Naiwu's body is in a morgue at the No. 2 People's Hospital in Weifang City. Cheng Qingjun, secretary of the school's Party Committee, continually put off the reimbursement of Mou Naiwu's salary, and deliberately created barriers for Mou Naiwu's family trying to get the salary. Cheng Qingjun had people tell Mou Naiwu's family that Mou Naiwu never had worked for the Institute.
Prior to cultivation practice, Mou Naiwu had high blood pressure, heart disease, stomach disease, and other illnesses, and he was emaciated. After he practiced Falun Gong, he recovered his health and became energetic and good-tempered. His work performance also improved. After the persecution began on July 20, 1999, because he persisted in his belief in Truth - Compassion - Tolerance, the persecutors from the police department and National Security Bureau often broke into his home and took him away, even when he was paralyzed from previously received torture.
Late at night on July 26, 2001, a dozen perpetrators from Weifang City's National Security Bureau broke into Mou Naiwu's home and took him away. Mou Naiwu's wife, Dai Xiaoping, was taking a shower, and perpetrators kicked open the bathroom door, carried her downstairs, and put her into the police car, allowing her only enough time to put on underwear. Mou Naiwu's young daughter was scared, and cried as she saw her parents being taken away. She was left behind.
Mou Naiwu and his wife were sentenced to forced labor for practicing Falun Gong. Mou Naiwu had previously been held at the Changle Forced Labor Camp in Weifang City. In March 2000, Mou Naiwu showed symptoms of a stroke, and was granted medical parole. In May 2000, the illness progressed into partial paralysis of his body. After he was released, he took care of his daughter during the three years his wife was held at the labor camp. During the snowy winter season he went to buy food and fell to the ground twice because his partial paralysis affected his balance.
On New Year's Eve 2002, Mou Naiwu had nothing to eat at home. He sat with his daughter before the empty dinner table. Later, his mother-in-law visited and brought them dumplings, and the father and daughter shed tears.
In October 2003, Mou Naiwu's work unit, the Weifang Weaving Technical Institute, became part of the Weifang Institute, and Mou Naiwu was sent to the Physics Department. Soon after he reported to work, Mou Naiwu told his supervisor that he had not completely recovered, that his bank account was depleted, and he asked for an advance on his salary because he could no longer support his family. His supervisor demanded that he write a Guarantee Statement to renounce Falun Gong.
Mou Naiwu didn't cooperate with the demand. In May 2004, he wrote an article telling how Dafa has benefited him. His supervisors pressured him to write a Guarantee Statement. In early June, Mou Naiwu wrote about why he persisted in practicing Dafa. His supervisors read it and said, "Don't pay him his salary."
During the past few years, Mou Naiwu was sent to labor camps, arrested, constantly harassed, threatened, and made financially bankrupt, causing him to be ill. The supervisors at the Weifang Institute ridiculed Mou Naiwu with acerbic language. Several days later Mou Naiwu showed symptoms of a stroke.
On the morning of June 8, 2004, Mou Naiwu's wife, Dai Xiaoping, called Li Wenquan, the secretary of the Physics Department at the Weifang Institute, and told him Mou Naiwu was in a critical condition. At around 4:00 p.m., Li Wenquan came to Mou Naiwu's home along with Lin Yonglian, head of the Security Office, and others. They interrogated Mou Naiwu's family as if they were criminals. Li Wenquan said, "If he [Mou Naiwu, who was unconscious at the time] writes a Guarantee Statement, he can get paid right away." Mou Naiwu's father-in-law, who is not a Dafa practitioner, argued with the perpetrators, and they changed their attitude.
After he was sent to a hospital, Mou Naiwu was diagnosed with a ruptured blood vessel in the brain, a condition requiring surgery. The doctor said, "At best he would become a vegetable after surgery. In cases such as his, most people with this kind of condition don't survive the surgery. Mou Naiwu's family discussed the options among themselves and decided against surgery, but decided he would stay in the hospital. That same day, Mou Naiwu's wife, Dai Xiaoping, asked Li Wenquan about who would stay with Mou Naiwu. Enforcer Li Wenquan replied, "I'll stay with him tonight, and tomorrow I'll think about sending other people."
Around 9:00 p.m. at night, the secretary of the physics department, Li Wenquan, left without telling anyone and was not heard from since. Dai Xiaoping called Li Wenquan, but he hung up the phone. So, Dai Xiaoping became the sole caretaker of her husband at night when the nurse was off-duty. For several days the institute ignored Mou Naiwu. Dai Xiaoping became exhausted after many nights in the hospital. She went to Li Wenquan who said, "I already asked the school heads and they said they will not send anyone." Dai Xiaoping said, "If the school doesn't want to send anyone, I can't take care of him on my own. Let me take him home so my daughter can help me." Li Wenquan agreed and Mou Naiwu was driven home.
In the evening, Mou Naiwu became critically ill and was rushed to the No. 2 People's Hospital for emergency treatment. He passed away early in the morning of June 13 at the age of 41.
After his passing, Mou Naiwu's family went repeatedly to the school heads and pleaded that since Mou Naiwu's family could not support themselves, the school should help out. The Weifang Institute gave Dai Xiaping 200 Yuan (1) after Li Wenquan admitted Mou Naiwu to the hospital, and nothing since.
On June 13, the day Mou Naiwu passed away, his brother and father-in-law, who has paralysis, went to Cheng Qingjun, the school Party secretary, and asked for reimbursement of Mou Naiwu's five-year suspended salary. Cheng Qingjun firmly refused and said, "We can't pay people who oppose the Party." Several days later, Dai Xiaoping and her mother went to the institute and saw Cheng Qingjun. They tried to talk to him but Cheng Qingjun waved his hands at the security guards who stretched out their arms and blocked the mother and daughter from approaching him. Lin Yonglian, head of the Security Division, and other persecutors walked up them, and scolded and pushed them. Dai Xiaoping later called Cheng Qingjun on the phone, but Cheng said, "I'm busy!" He hung up.
In late June, Dai Xiaoping wrote an article telling the truth about Mou Naiwu and sent it to the school. Li Wenquan said, "If you want money, talk about money, don't mention Falun Gong." Dai Xiaoping wrote a second request, only asking for the back pay. Li Wenquan said, "The school heads disapprove of your request. It's only right that we don't give you the back pay. You should only write about how difficult your family situation is, don't mention anything else." Dai Xiaoping wrote a third request according to Li Wenquan's specifications. During this period, Dai Xiaoping's father went to the school and waited from 9:00 a.m. to 12:40 p.m. in the hallway and eventually met Cheng Qingjun. Cheng said, "We'll deal with this after you have the body cremated." Then he left. Dai Xiaoping's father couldn't take the blow and his health declined. Dai Xiaoping and her family went to Cheng Qingjun numerous times afterwards but he kept making excuses.
On August 3, Dafa practitioners in Weifang City wrote a letter to Cheng Qingjun asking him to uphold justice on the Mou Naiwu issue. On August 5, Cheng Qingjun sent Song Qiyu, principal's assistant, Liu Yongsheng, head of the Human Resources Department, Wang, head of the Security Division, and Li Wenquan to Dai Xiaoping's home and told her, "We are here to let you know that Mou Naiwu wrote a resignation letter so he didn't belong to the Weifang Institute from that point on." Then they hurried off, despite Dai Xiaoping's questions.
After the persecution began on July 20, 1999, the heads of a work unit would be fired, criticized, and have salary withheld if a Falun Gong practitioner from their work unit appealed for Dafa in Beijing. Out of the consideration, and trying not to create any troubles for his work unit, Mou Naiwu wrote a resignation letter in October 1999 before his planned appeal in Beijing, and submitted it to the school heads. His request was not approved, because the school heads wanted to control him, so Mou Naiwu was still a teacher at the school. In October 2003, the Weifang Institute took over the Weifang Weaving Technical Institute and Mou Naiwu was transferred to the Physics Department. His name was included in the faculty list, yet the perpetrators later claimed Mou Naiwu was not a part of the school.

Three years ago, in December 1999, when Cheng Qingjun was the secretary of the Weifang High Institute, a young teacher, Falun Gong practitioner Gao Hongjie, went to Beijing to appeal, and was held by his work unit for around ten days. Mr. Gao Hongjie is around 40 years of age and came from Anqiu City. Cheng Qingjun and other perpetrators extorted 10,000 Yuan from Gao Hongjie's father as "guarantee money." In May 2000, Gao Hongjie again went to Beijing to appeal. After detaining him for two weeks, the institute sent him to the Kuiwen District Detention Center and held him there for two weeks without notifying his family. Cheng Qingjun sent Gao Hongjie to a mental hospital affiliated with the Weifang City Civil Administration Bureau on June 16, 2000, and Gao Hongjie was held along with more than forty mental patients. After they learned this, Gao Hongjie's parents and brother went to the school heads many times asking for his release.
Although a hospital physical exam determined Gao Hongjie was completely healthy, the persecutors refused to release him for over 80 days. In early 2001, Gao Hongjie wrote a solemn statement announcing his return to Falun Gong practice. After learning this, Zhao Guangqiang, a branch school official, called Cheng Qingjun and broke the news. Cheng Qingjun said, "I know the heads of the Civil Administration Bureau. In a couple days we'll send Gao Hongjie back to the mental hospital." At noon the next day, Gao Hongjie loosened the handcuffs and escaped from the metal windows and was thus not sent to the mental hospital.

(Clearwisdom.net) I am from Taipu Village in Bingcao Township, Shenzhou City, Hebei Province. My mother, Wang Xingjun, would be 55 years old this year, if she is still alive. She learned Falun Dafa back in 1995 and experienced a lot of positive changes, and the whole family enjoyed the happiness and harmony that her practice of Falun Dafa brought.
However, on July 20, 1999, the former Chinese president Jiang launched the campaign to suppress Falun Gong. My mother immediately went to Beijing to appeal on the same day, as she still had faith in the government. The police officers in Shenzhou City who were specially dispatched to various regions managed to stop her before she reached Beijing and they took her back home. Her second attempt to appeal in Beijing also failed, and she was sent back and fined 500 Yuan [equivalent to the average monthly salary in China]. "If you appeal one more time, you will be sentenced to labor camps," warned the police officers.
My mother was stunned. How could it be wrong to keep fit, believe in "Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance," and strive to be a good person? After a while, she realized that what was on TV were nothing but lies to vilify Falun Gong. She was convinced that it was not wrong to go to Beijing to tell the government the truth or be a good person.
There is nothing wrong with letting people know the truth about Falun Gong either! So on December 8, 1999, she once again went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. But since that day, we have heard nothing from her. We don't even know if she is still alive!
Now we know that it was Jiang Zemin who single-handedly orchestrated the persecution. It is Jiang who abused his power to launch the persecution, without the approval of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee, the People's Congress, or abiding by the Constitution.
(Clearwisdome.net) On August 18-20, 2004, four Falun Dafa practitioners from western countries went to South Africa to communicate the facts of Falun Dafa to the African media, schools, political circles, Ministers from African countries, and the general public. This attracted widespread attention. The South Africa Broadcasting Company and a local TV station interviewed Falun Dafa practitioners and broadcast the programs across Africa during its prime time news.

On August 18, the "XIV Ministerial Conference of the Non-Aligned Movement" was held in Durban, a port city in South Africa. Ministers from many non-allied countries, including the Foreign Minister of China, attended this conference.
Falun Dafa practitioners' peaceful activities opposing the persecution and their spreading the truth about the practice attracted great attention from the local media. A reporter from a TV station in South Africa was deeply touched after he learned about how Falun Dafa was being persecuted in China. He invited the practitioners to come to a live broadcast that evening. That evening, Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Lucy Zhou was invited to the TV station. She and a foreign minister from a North-African country participated in a 20-minute interview program together. According to the foreign minister, this program was broadcast to all African countries via satellite during prime time.
In the TV interview, Ms. Zhou, who is from Canada, introduced Falun Dafa. She told the audience that the reason she came to South Africa was to call for a stop to the persecution of Falun Dafa. She said in the interview, "The persecution of Falun Dafa is (actually) a persecution of the human conscience." She gave an example of how China had been attempting to stop Canada and some other countries from condemning the violation of human rights by Jiang Zemin's group at the United Nations Human Rights Conference held in Geneva by threatening to restrict international trade and economic interaction with these countries. However, Canada has condemned China's persecution from the beginning.
The foreign minister from North Africa was shocked when he saw the persecution photos of Falun Dafa practitioners. He said he knew the Chinese representative in the United Nations, and said, "I will ask him face to face why he persecutes Falun Dafa next time I see him."
2) Three visits by a reporter from a South African Radio Station
In the early morning of August 18, four Falun Dafa practitioners hung up banners with "Falun Dafa," "Truthfulness, Compassion, Tolerance," and "Voluntary Teaching of Falun Gong" printed on them. A reporter from the South Africa Broadcasting Company (radio station) conducted a live interview with the Falun Dafa practitioners. Later, he came back and told the practitioners that the interview had been broadcast to the entire country.
In the afternoon, the radio station reporter hurried back. He said that the Chinese ambassador in South Africa told them that Falun Dafa was questionable, and that "Falun Gong does not permit people to take medicine," and that it had "caused deaths," and so on. The practitioners clarified the truth to him one by one. They told him that in Canada, the Canadian Broadcast Standards Committee made the decision regarding the so-called "Fu Yibin Murder" case (1) stating, "It is unfair to relate Falun Dafa to a murderer." After hearing this, the reporter gave us a thumb up, "You did well."
3) "South African people are waiting for Falun Dafa"
Ms. Lucy Zhou said to a Minghui reporter, "South African people have suffered from racial segregation and discrimination before, so they can better understand the persecution suffered by Falun Dafa practitioners in China. When we distributed materials telling the truth about Falun Dafa, almost everyone accepted them. Some South Africans even helped us to distribute the materials. We brought 1,000 flyers and we ran out quickly." During their short, four day stay in South Africa, the four practitioners also went to the local universities to clarify the truth, and set up a local practice site.
4) A member of the museum staff said, "I will take photos of your activities, and hang them in the museum."
A staff member of the local museum was collecting materials to commemorate the city's history. After the practitioners clarified truth to him, he said, "This Ministerial conference is an event of historical significance. Your activities also have historical significance. I will take photos for you and hang them in the museum."

(Clearwisdom.net) On weekends, it seems Manhattan is as busy as any workday. Practitioners from all over the US continue to hold anti-torture exhibits and clarify the truth about Falun Gong every day of the week, now, including the weekends.
Practitioners set up truth-clarification display boards and signature booths in an open area on 42nd Street. To the left of the booth, an anti-torture exhibit was brought to life by practitioners. To the right was a beautiful and peaceful exercise demonstration. The sharp contrast caught people's attention, and many people stopped to ask what was going on.

After learning about the persecution of Falun Gong, people were shocked and were astonished that peaceful Falun Gong practitioners suffered such brutal persecution in China. Many people signed their names to call for an end to the persecution. Some took pictures of the exhibit.

Practitioners from other areas of the US came to New York to help with truth-clarification activities on the weekend. Practitioners in yellow T-shirts were seen on all nearby streets. Some of them demonstrated exercises, some distributed flyers. Many people on streets told us the persecution was too cruel. As always, there were people who wanted to learn Falun Gong. A passerby learned the five sets of exercises on the spot.

Some practitioners held small display boards on streets. On one side of the board was peaceful meditation. On the other side was a picture of a torture victim. When held above the head, small display boards were very eye-catching. Another practitioner distributed flyers next to the display board. It was very effective.

A student asked a practitioner, "Is all this really happening? Why?" The practitioner told her what Falun Gong was, how Falun Gong was being persecuted in China and that what was taking place in real life was actually much worse than what was shown in the pictures. The girl said it was too cruel. She couldn't understand why there were such things in the world.
(Clearwisdom.net) On September the 3rd 2004, Swedish practitioners held the last in a series of three anti-torture exhibitions outside the administrative offices of the Gothenburg City Government.
Members of the City Executive Board in the City Council Chamber by the square could see the exhibition from their office windows. Mr. Erik J Lithander, a kind gentleman and member of the board, visited the exhibitions several times to show his support.
The exhibitions attracted thousands of visitors. Many were indignant when they saw the torture methods used to force Falun Gong practitioners to denounce their beliefs. A lady asked, "What kind of people would allow these atrocities to take place?"
Falun Gong practitioners pointed out that the former Chinese head of state, Jiang Zemin, is personally responsible for the persecution that has claimed more than 1000 lives and caused enormous suffering for millions of innocent Chinese families.

(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Gong practitioners from the San Francisco Bay Area in Northern California and from Eureka staged a dance and music performance and exercise demonstration at the "Arts Alive!" event in Eureka. Their performance won waves of warm applause. More than half of the audience followed along with the exercise movements during the demonstration. The theater manager where the performance was given was very happy to see the warm feedback from the audience and invited Falun Gong practitioners to come back again.

Eureka is a small town by the ocean, five hours away from San Francisco, population 40,000. Six Western Falun Gong practitioners live in the town. More than thirty practitioners drove from the Bay Area to Eureka to support this activity. They brought the exercise demonstration and the beautiful dance performance.
It was the first large-scale Fa-introduction activity in the town. Falun Gong practitioners decorated the theater with banners saying "Falun Dafa" and "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance." The theater looked very peaceful and cheerful with red and yellow flowers, beautiful music and lighting.
The program started with an introduction to Falun Dafa. Young practitioners sang songs and gave a performance of the Lotus Dance. Some practitioners shared their cultivation experiences. Beautiful traditional Chinese dances and exercise demonstrations were performed alternately. The audience was fascinated with the peaceful atmosphere. More than half of the audience learned the Falun Gong exercises on the spot.
Practitioners also distributed flyers on the street. The uncomplicated and kind people in the town happily received the Falun Gong introductory materials.
In his new article, "Let Go of Human Attachments and Save the World's People," Teacher says,
"...each must come out and clarify the truth, bringing it to every field and valley, mountain and hill, not omitting a single area where there are people. And as for people who want to learn the practice after you clarify the truth, you should arrange for them to study the Fa and learn the exercises as soon as possible. They are the next group of disciples who will cultivate."
This is the last stage of Fa-rectification. We should seize the opportunity to save sentient beings and send "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance" to everyone's heart.
(Clearwisdom.net) In concert with the campaign to "Spread Falun Dafa in Every Corner of Taiwan," about thirty Falun Gong practitioners, including the elderly and young practitioners of Minghui School, spread the Fa, clarified the truth and sent forth righteous thoughts in the busy park near Neili Train Station and in the Dusk Market from 5:00 p.m. to 6:10 p.m. on Sept. 3, 2004.
The following events took place during their activity:
As soon as we started doing exercises in the park, an elderly gentleman started copying the exercise movements of a young practitioner. Some fellow practitioners went up to teach him the exercises, and clarified the truth about Falun Gong to him. He was very happy. We were very impressed with how serious he was when he learned the exercises, and were happy for him because we knew his life would be refined by "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance."

It was very busy in the market at 5:00 p.m. Two practitioners distributed flyers together. Most people accepted the flyers happily. A couple of elderly men who may have been influenced by the deceitful propaganda in the China reacted negatively upon hearing it was Falun Gong. Our fellow practitioners kindly clarified the truth of Falun Gong. We believe that the kindness we show as a group will change their opinion. We also realize that many kind people have been deceived. That's why we are needed. Two elderly women came over to learn more about Falun Gong. After getting an introduction, they told us they would go to our group exercise the next day to learn the exercises.
Most people have never seen us doing group exercises because we meet very early in the morning. Our activities in introducing Falun Gong will bring Dafa to every corner of Taiwan, and we hope more fellow practitioners will join us to bring Falun Dafa to all who are predestined to learn it.

As in previous years, Falun Gong practitioners from the greater Chicago area accepted an invitation to participate. Naperville is the fourth largest city of Illinois, and is located in the southwest metropolitan Chicago area. Because of its good schools and business opportunities, many Chinese have moved to the city in recent years, making it a good place for practitioners to display the beauty of Falun Dafa to local residents.

The rain had little effect on the nearly ten thousand spectators. Because of the good impressions made by practitioners in previous years, the organizers placed Falun Gong in an early position. This year, the Falun Gong procession was led by a large banner reading "Falun Dafa is Good" followed by a carefully decorated float with eight practitioners demonstrating the exercises on it. The spectators gave warm applause and said, "Look, how pretty are those exercises suites," "Its so peaceful!" "It's Falun Gong! It's beautiful." More residents waved to the practitioners and asked for truth-clarifying materials.

When they were passing the stage, Falun Gong practitioners demonstrated the five sets of exercises and performed the lotus dance. The host told the audience at the same time, "This is Falun Gong, also called Falun Dafa, an ancient practice originating in China that is guided by the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion- Tolerance. It has spread to over sixty countries in the world and over 100 million people practice it. In Naperville, there are also Falun Gong practitioners. Welcome to Naperville. How beautiful it is!"
(Clearwisdom.net) While explaining the truth of Falun Dafa on various occasions, we often come across some people who are indifferent and unwilling to learn the truth. Some even think it is none of their business when they see the pictures of Falun Gong practitioners being brutally tortured. Some, even though they do not have a negative attitude towards Falun Gong, think it has nothing to do with them. Practitioners are clear on the point that all people have come to this world for Dafa and nobody is excluded in the Fa-rectification. Then how could we clarify the truth to touch their hearts and awaken their conscience? How could we help them clear their minds so that they will acknowledge Dafa and then start Dafa cultivation practice? Below are some of my personal ideas to share with you:
I think only the principles of "Truth-Compassion-Tolerance" can change a person's heart. Therefore, we ourselves should meet the requirements of "Truth-Compassion-Tolerance". If we could act according to "Truth-Compassion-Tolerance" while clarifying the truth, ordinary people will enjoy listening to the facts about Falun Gong. The energy field a practitioner carries is harmonious and compassionate, which is a feeling that appeals to everyone. Teacher also talks about it in Lecture Three of Zhuan Falun that,
"When an evil-minded person is thinking of something bad, this person might change his mind due to the powerful effect of your field; he might then no longer want to commit the wrongdoing. Perhaps a person wants to swear at someone. Suddenly, he may change his mind and will not want to swear. Only the energy field from cultivation practice in a righteous way can produce this effect. Therefore, in the past there was this saying in Buddhism: 'The Buddha-light illuminates everywhere and rectifies all abnormalities.' This is what it means."
If our attitude is not honest enough and our tone is not compassionate enough, if we cannot tolerate it when ordinary people don't have a good attitude, we cannot achieve a positive effect in truth-clarification. They may not even want to listen to us any more. I remember when I first started to explain the facts to people, I felt quite confident in my eloquence. However, I was always rebuffed, which left me feeling quite defeated. Even my family members did not want to listen to me, let alone the people in China. At the time, I always complained that people were so indifferent and stubborn, and I rarely looked within. But I kept clarifying the truth. One day, a precious Chinese person directly interrupted me. He said, "You said that you are good people who practice 'Truth-Compassion-Tolerance.' To me, you are not true, not compassionate and not tolerant at all. What's the good of Falun Gong?" His words woke me up, and I began to look inside myself. I found that I was so selfish - I was not telling the truth out of compassion. I talked regardless of others' reactions. Whenever others raised some negative ideas, I would heatedly refute them. I did not follow the principles of "Truth-Compassion-Tolerance;" that's why people did not want to listen. The more I explain the truth to people, the higher my xinxing [mind nature; moral character] is raised. Now, no matter how bad people's attitudes are, my heart isn't disturbed at all. I keep on patiently explaining things to them. As a result, many people are touched and feel that I am a good person and want to make friends with me.
The truth of Falun Dafa is "Truth-Compassion-Tolerance", the supreme principles of the universe. Sentient beings that understand these three words will surely be saved. Since all sentient beings have come to this world to assimilate to Dafa, we should mention how we understand the meaning of the three words in order for people to truly understand the truth of Falun Dafa. Only the principles of "Truth-Compassion-Tolerance" have the power to save sentient beings.
Here are some experiences I had while clarifying the truth:
Once when I was collecting signatures for an appeal, a young man passed by. I asked him to sign the appeal letter and help to end the persecution of Falun Gong in China. He said, "I lost my job, who's going to help me?" In a kind tone, I told him the principles of "Good will be rewarded with good; evil deeds will be met with evil returns." I said, "For you to sign the appeal letter, support Falun Gong, and help end the persecution of Falun Gong is a kind deed. With such virtue, you will be blessed. Falun Gong practitioners are good people who practice Truth-Compassion-Tolerance." I then carefully explained to him my understanding of the meaning of the three words. During the process of my talking, his face changed from unhappy to bright. After I finished talking, he pressed his hands together in heshi towards me, signed his name and stayed for a while, helping us to collect signatures. He spoke loudly to people around, asking them to sign the appeal letter. I deeply feel the power of the three words - "Truth, Compassion, Tolerance".
There are also many people in China who are indifferent to the facts regarding Falun Dafa. People are naturally selfish. They only want to know things that relate to their own interests. Aren't people in pursuit of a happy life? Thus, I asked them whether they wanted to change their fate and enjoy an even happier life. Their replies are affirmative. I told them that I knew of a formula for that. When they asked me for it, I told them the three words "Truth, Compassion, Tolerance", and carefully explained to them what I understand them to mean.
When telling them about the connotation of cultivation practice, I always cite my own and my relatives' experiences in cultivation practice. They really like that and then begin to show interest in Dafa. They begin to wonder why the Jiang regime does not permit the practice, and to ask questions regarding Falun Gong, such as regarding the staged immolation, and the issue of illnesses. They also become willing to listen to the truth about the persecution. I ask them, "Are Truth, Compassion and Tolerance good?" Nobody says no. Many people feel that what I said make sense and decide to be a good people acting on the principles of "Truth-Compassion-Tolerance." Some people are afraid that they cannot do well. So I encourage them to take time and improve step by step. Don't worry that they do not believe in Gods. Many precious Chinese people were Kings and Lords, and have good inborn quality. According to my experience, people immediately want to learn Falun Gong after they find out about the principles of "Truth-Compassion-Tolerance". Many people thank me for telling them that. When they understand that Falun Dafa is such a good exercise that can genuinely make people obtain happiness, and that Jiang's regime prevents them from learning it, they feel very indignant. My understanding is that those precious Chinese people are waiting throughout the ages for the three words -- "Truth-Compassion-Tolerance."
(Clearwisdom.net) I feel that family conflicts in this Fa-rectification period are not a simple issue of personal cultivation or a personal issue. Anything that we come across has something to do with validating the Fa and saving sentient beings. And it is closely related to personal cultivation. If one does well, his behavior towards relatives and those around him who don't cultivate can expose the evil lies and have a positive effect in saving sentient beings.
I've noticed that some fellow practitioners, while they can remember to behave like a Dafa practitioner when clarifying the truth outside of the family, allow themselves to be different when they get home, as if they take "days off" from cultivation. They even think that, since fellow practitioners cannot see how they act, it does not matter if they do not behave well at home. There are still some practitioners who hate to lose face and do not want other practitioners to become aware of their poor behavior at home, as they are afraid of damaging their images.
It is not right for a Dafa practitioner to have conflicts with ordinary people, nor is it acceptable for a Dafa practitioner to have conflicts with family members. Didn't Master say that everything that occurs in society today is a result of Dafa practitioners' heart? It is not enough to simply attribute these family conflicts to the actions of the old forces or to just pay lip service by saying it is a personal omission. As a Dafa practitioner, one should dig out the roots of the issue. Long term unresolved family conflicts must be closely related to those roots.
A true enlightened being must be the same both inside and out. His behavior should be always the same whether at home or in public. An enlightened being's benevolence remains unchanged no matter where he is. It is impossible for him to be benevolent in public while not being benevolent at home.
Dafa practitioners should always be a good example no matter where we are, either at home or out in society. We should remember that we are validating the Fa and saving sentient beings all the time.
Similarly, a Dafa practitioner who truly understands the sacred inner meaning of saving sentient beings will treat all beings the same. He won't clarify the truth to someone who does not have conflicts with him but not clarify the truth to someone who has conflicts with him. If he behaves like this, how is he any different from ordinary people who just treat people well when they are treated the same way? This is absolutely not the thought that a Dafa practitioner should have.
It is sometimes very difficult to solve conflicts between husbands and wives and conflicts among family members. However, if we always use the standards of Dafa to guide us and refuse to be influenced by "sentiment" and selfishness, we can do well in solving these conflicts.
One couple started practicing Falun Dafa three years ago. The couple always pointed fingers at each other and this situation lasted for a long time. One day as she was reading the Fa, the wife suddenly realized her problem. Her husband had treated her very affectionately and usually agreed with her before he began to cultivate Dafa. Gradually, however, he stopped treating her as affectionately as he had previously; in addition, he now disagreed with her on many issues. In particular, he sometimes pointed out her weaknesses in front of fellow practitioners. Subconsciously, she developed a feeling of disharmony that caused them to quarrel time and again. The wife stopped quarrelling with her husband after she realized her problem and began to require herself to do well.
Her husband was unexpectedly happy when she told him what she had realized. He then told her his understanding. Before, he always gave in to her because he was very attached to the relationship and did not want anything to affect it. He felt his feelings change after he began his cultivation in Dafa. Although they had a predestined relationship to be a couple in this lifetime, he thought that their purpose in this life was to obtain the Fa. Therefore, they were two separate cultivators. Each of them should be responsible for his or her own cultivation. His wife's doing well in her cultivation did not mean his doing well in his cultivation and vice versa. One could not replace the other. So he could not ignore the standards of Dafa and give in to her. He felt that his wife should have known these principles as she too was cultivating. Consequently, he felt that his wife was creating an unnecessary scene when she quarreled with him again and again, but he did not tell her this at the time.
After a frank discussion, the couple resolved their long term conflict. As a result, they agreed to exclude "sentiment" and treat each other as cultivators. They would absolutely not put up with the each other's weaknesses. Instead, they would tell each other their weaknesses and be diligent together.
Another practitioner couple ended up in divorce court because they often disagreed and neither of them thought that it was their fault. Each one hired a lawyer. It really shouldn't be like this. If both sides could have looked inward and dug out the roots of the issue, their quarrels would not have led to this point.
Why did they complain to the court when both were Dafa practitioners? Why did they go to court? Was it to prove a point, to gain support for hurt "feelings," or to put blame on the other side? In other words, did they go to court because they thought that the principles of the Fa were of no use in controlling the other side? Even though they were both practitioners, instead of using the principles of Dafa to guide them to resolve their problems, they relied on ordinary people's principles. Isn't this an issue of the actual root of a problem? Isn't this shameful for a practitioner?
Let's leave aside the issue of using quarrelling as a reason for a divorce as practitioners. Can those conflicts be resolved even if the couple succeeds in getting a divorce? Can they really let go of their attachments? Will the root of their problems disappear? Will those mountains at the microscopic level disappear as a result of divorce? Dafa practitioners know that no strategy in the human world can dissolve the roots of a problem, let alone move the big mountains at the microscopic level. Only Dafa can resolve all these issues fundamentally. That is, a person can only solve all these problems when he or she looks inside and assimilates to Dafa.
As a practitioner, one should be courageous enough to face one's weaknesses. If each side insists on his or her own point of view and no one wants to be first with a magnanimous attitude, neither is behaving like a practitioner. While this includes the element of the old force's interference, one can only negate it by looking inside. Even those Gods of the old universe look down upon those Dafa practitioners who fight for "fame-profit-sentiment." It is time to truly think about ourselves. We should live up to the title of "Dafa practitioner."
Some conflicts between partners occur because one cultivates while the other does not. The one that cultivates first of all should look inward, find out the problem, and do well according to the standards of Dafa. The critical thing is for your heart not to be swayed by "sentiment."
There was one fellow practitioner whose wife did not cultivate, nor did she support his doing Dafa work. Therefore, most of the time he did not tell his wife when he did Dafa work because he was so afraid that his wife would fight with him if she knew. Furthermore, his wife threatened him with divorce every time she quarreled with him.
This practitioner was very worried. This situation lasted for a year. He tried many things but still could not solve the problem. One day he suddenly thought that this must have something to do with his heart, and it suddenly seemed to turn bright in front of his eyes. Deep in his heart, he was afraid of being divorced by his wife because he thought that she was pretty. He could feel the envious eyes of others whenever he walked with her down the street, and he felt happy about it. If his wife really divorced him, he was afraid that others would look down on him and that he would not find a girl prettier than his present wife.
After all these human mentalities were dug out, this practitioner felt that he had slacked off too much, since he had been preoccupied by these ideas for almost a year. The moment he let go of all these mentalities, he felt extremely light. He sincerely expressed his wish to be a Dafa disciple and told his wife that he would bless her if she insisted on getting a divorce and if she could find a man who would love her more than he did. His wife was shocked because she did not expect him to have become so magnanimous and open-minded.
Since then, his wife has stopped fighting with him and preventing him from doing Dafa work. In addition, his wife felt the greatness of Dafa from his changes and began to learn Dafa with him.
It is very difficult for one to discover his problems in family conflicts when one is trapped in "sentiment." Only if one always measures oneself strictly against the criteria of Dafa can one escape the limits of "sentiment" and place one's heart righteously.
Actually, in the early personal cultivation period, there were many touching examples of Dafa practitioners in Mainland China who dealt well with family conflicts. Although that was a period of personal cultivation, these are very basic ideas for a Dafa practitioner. Besides Dafa's mighty power, another reason that Dafa could be spread by word of mouth and heart in Mainland China had something to do with the fact that Dafa practitioners in China did well in all aspects. In comparison, our Dafa practitioners overseas still have many aspects that need to be improved. We should be alert to them particularly in this special period.
When we face conflicts out in the world, we know we must do well because our actions directly affect society's understandings about Dafa and Dafa practitioners and whether the sentient beings can be saved. When we face conflicts at home, we must do even better since our actions directly affect our family members, relatives, and neighbors' understandings about Dafa and Dafa practitioners and whether or not they can be saved.
Under such cruel circumstances, Dafa practitioners in Mainland China have sacrificed their lives and blood to show the world's people that Dafa is good and that Dafa practitioners are good people. In comparison, Dafa practitioners outside of China should really think clearly whether we are truly cultivating and validating Dafa if we cannot adequately resolve our family conflicts, let alone other issues. No matter how many things we have done, we must never forget our fundamental cultivation.
Whether we face conflicts in society or conflicts at home, we should not make excuses for not dealing with them well. How difficult it has been for the Fa-rectification to obtain the present level of understanding and support of the world's people! How many Dafa practitioners have made sacrifices for this? Also, how much has Master done? Particularly for Dafa practitioners outside China in such generous environments, what excuses could we have for not doing well at home? It is not a small issue if those sentient beings around us who have been waiting to be saved develop negative thoughts toward Dafa because we did not do well. While we certainly do not want to damage our own Fa-rectification cultivation, it is far worse if we damage Dafa.

All predestined relationships are for the purpose of Dafa. Let's do well, position our hearts righteously, and treasure it. Let's not allow the difference of one thought to bring us regret. The Fa-rectification is progressing quickly to the surface. It won't wait for us because we do not do well and haven't reached the true standards that Dafa requires. The difference of that one thought in Fa-rectification determines whether the beings at the layer in the cosmos that one represents will be saved or eliminated.
Whether we are in society facing the public or at home facing family members, we must do well as Dafa practitioners since we all have benefited from Dafa. To do well is a Dafa practitioner's duty in this Fa-rectification period.
(Clearwisdom.net) When we started to practice Falun Dafa, our first step is to be good people. We must get rid of bad thoughts, behaviors and attachments. At this stage, practitioners often know where they are lacking and therefore can get rid of their attachments quickly. Many practitioners felt that they were elevating very fast when they first started cultivation.
After we reach the stage of being a truly good person in society, many of us feel stuck. Our cultivation seems to be on hold. In fact, the Fa (1) requires us to start by being a good person and cultivating our own Xinxing (2), becoming even better people. Then, we should rise above just being good people to meet the requirements for consummation set by the gods. In other words, to be good is the starting point, not the end. Otherwise, we did not really understand Dafa (3) and cultivation.
I have noticed that many practitioners have not moved on from their understanding of being good in the context of everyday people and have not elevated. When conflicts happen, they tend to use the human mentalities to judge right or wrong without seeing their own attachments even when the same problems happen again and again.
The second stage of our cultivation, as I understand it, is to rise above just being good. What is being good in everyday people's context? It is to use the principles in the human world to do things, but those principles have deviated from those prescribed by gods. Cultivators should rise above them in order to meet the requirements to go beyond the level of being an everyday person. However, we still have to conduct ourselves in a righteous way in the human world, in line with the requirements of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance at the human level.
Some of the practitioners have not studied the Fa thoroughly and therefore confused the state of being good with true cultivation. Some are unwilling to part with their pursuit of fame and self-interest and other attachments, even though they have gotten to know Dafa.
We all know that in order to go back to our true selves, we have to get rid of attachments. What are attachments? Seen from another dimension, attachments are substances. It is the same as notions and karma. As soon as a human being has a thought, it will produce a substance that will become stronger and stronger as the thought becomes more intense. It can also be strengthened and will produce a living substance. In turn it will have its own thought and reflect its thoughts onto human brains to control human's behavior. If people do as it wants them to, humans will incur and accumulate a lot of karma.
To get rid of attachments, we should first understand what attachments we have. To understand what attachments one has, one has to look at his notions. One can only see his notions in conflicts. This is why it is said that our conflicts and tribulations were left for cultivation. All the conflicts and tribulations point to loopholes in our cultivation. The old forces are conducting themselves according to the principles of the old cosmos. Generally speaking, if a cultivator does not have an attachment in a certain aspect, the old forces cannot impose the conflicts and tribulations on him.
In today's human environment, moral standards are declining. We use the environment to cultivate. When we have a conflict with people in this context, I don't think we should blame others. We should first of all look at our own notions, get rid of our attachments and improve our moral character. It's only when we have a pure heart in doing things that we can say that it is cultivators doing the greatest thing in this world.

Since Jiang Zemin started to openly persecute Falun Gong practitioners on July 20, 1999, I have been sharing with fellow Chinese people the important facts about Falun Gong. I have been illegally detained in Chengdu City Detention Center for three times as a result, but each time I walked out the detention center in a dignified manner after I sent forth righteous thoughts. I have been trying to follow Master's teaching and try to do the three things well, including studying Falun Gong books, sending forth righteous thoughts and clarifying the truth about Falun Gong to my fellow Chinese people. When I share the truth about Falun Gong with other people, I always keep Teacher's words in mind.
Teacher said,
"This is why each Dafa disciple needs to realize the importance of clarifying the truth. This, more than anything, is what you should do with all your effort, and it's the most magnificent. The salvation of sentient beings and the Consummation of cosmic bodies that correspond to you are all part of this. Every single Dafa disciple needs to do this. Don't miss a single opportunity."

I try to conduct myself according to the Fa. I try to keep a compassionate heart and offer Teacher's salvation to people in my area. I take every opportunity that comes by to share with others the truth about Falun Gong, even when I was surrounded by some a hundred policemen cursing and beating me. I have been clarifying the truth about Falun Gong in a fearless and confident manner.
The following are a few of my stories that I thought might help encourage my fellow practitioners to step out and clarify the truth about Falun Gong.
Around 7:00 PM of February 13, 2004 while I was posting flyers with truth-clarification messages near Jinsha Train Station, someone shouted behind me, "She is a Falun Gong practitioner!" In less than three minutes, several police cars arrived at the scene. A dozen tall and muscular police officers jumped out of the police cars, quickly surrounded me and snatched me to the local precinct.
The police found the truth-clarification flyers that I carried, and lay them out on the desk. Next they videotaped and photographed the flyers on the desk. I felt very sharp and focused, and did not feel terrified at all. I thought, "It is not every day that I meet so many police officers at the same time and in the same room. Now that you have brought me here, I will take this perfect opportunity to clarify the truth about Falun Gong to you all." Before they even started to interrogate me, I started to reveal the truth about Jiang Zemin's heinous crimes and persecution against Falun Gong practitioners. I presented facts that indicate the so-called "Tiananmen Self-Immolation" was a staged act, a lowest form of smear campaign to vilify Falun Gong and justify the persecution against Falun Gong. I described to them the gruesome facts of the tortures subjected to Falun Gong practitioners detained in the prisons and forced labors camps. Next I told the police the fact that Jiang Zemin declared to eradicate Falun Gong in three months without bothering to discuss it with the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. The fact that Jiang Zemin had issued only verbal orders, instead of written orders, to eradicate Falun Gong, strongly suggests that he plans to have all of you be responsible for the heinous crimes against Falun Gong in the future. Contrary to Jiang Zemin's wish, Falun Gong was not eradicated. Instead, the number of people practicing Falun Gong continues to increase in every corner of the world. One day Falun Gong will have its justice, and you will become Jiang Zemin's scapegoat if you don't stop following his order immediately. It is not worth it to commit crimes for Jiang Zemin. The heavens will eventually punish those who commit wrongdoings, including those who commit crimes against Falun Gong practitioners. I also cited many real cases where people participating in the persecution against Falun Gong practitioners suffering karmic retribution. They kept replacing the police officers in the room with new groups of officers.
By the time I left the police station, I had clarified the truth about Falun Gong and the persecution to nearly 100 police officers. I would like to thank Teacher for giving me the wisdom to clarify the truth to these people. It is because of Falun Dafa's mighty power and our compassionate Teacher's protection that I was able to clarify the truth to nearly 100 police officers fearlessly and confidently.
Another story occurred in May 2003 when I was illegally detained in Chengdu City Detention Center as a prisoner of conscience. One day in May, a disciplinary staff summoned me to step out of the cell. I saw a large number of fierce-looking police officers ahead, looking as if they were preparing to enter a major battle. There was also a medical doctor at the scene. In a pretentious manner the doctor said to me, "We are taking you to No. 3 Hospital for a cardiogram. If it turns out that you have a heart problem, we will release you home." Without giving you too many details of the story, I could only tell you that I knew they were planning a scheme. I refused to go with their scheme. I declared, "I am not going." and started to walk back to my cell. Then several police officers jumped on me and tried to take me to the hospital. Then suddenly I remembered Teacher's words.
Teacher said,
"Dafa Disciples' Righteous Thoughts are Powerful."
"No matter what the situation, do not cooperate with the evil's demands, orders, or what it instigates. If everyone does this the environment won't be this way."(From "Dafa Disciples' Righteous Thoughts are Powerful")
I calmed down right away and told them confidently, "I am a Falun Dafa cultivator. I am perfectly healthy. I did not commit any crime, so you should release me. I do not need any cardiogram." It appears that my righteous thoughts and actions had a subduing effect on their vicious mind because they released me right away.
I think it is because I have Falun Dafa and Teacher guiding me and protecting me that I have been determined in cultivating myself diligently, clarifying the truth and offering Teacher's salvation to my fellow Chinese people. I shall always remember Teacher's words:
"Do well with all the things you should do. All the most magnificent, most wonderful glory and honor of the future await you."

Greetings, Master! Greetings, fellow practitioners!
Today I am very happy to have the opportunity to share experiences from my trip to Argentina to spread Dafa.
The Falun Dafa Association in Argentina asked Taiwanese practitioners' help with two things: First, the South-Central American Fa Conference was going to be held on March 7, 2004 in Buenos Aires, the capital city of Argentina. Another event was an international Spanish language book exhibit to be held from April 13 to May 8, the largest of its kind, and it was estimated that more than one million people would attend the exhibit. These were both great opportunities to clarify the truth and spread the Fa. There are not many practitioners in Argentina, and they really hope Taiwanese practitioners can stay to help with Dafa activities during the book exhibit. Since the Fa conference and the book exhibit were over a month apart, it was very difficult for us to stay through both events.
More than 20 Taiwanese practitioners said they would like to help with the events. When they applied for a visa they told the Argentine Consulate they were going to attend a Falun Dafa conference, in the hope that they would be able to clarify the truth to the Argentine diplomatic sector during the visa application process. The process was indeed difficult as the Argentine departments concerned "kicked the ball around" and none wanted to take the responsibility. Falun Dafa practitioners from Taiwan and Argentina clarified the truth to these officials and sent forth righteous thoughts on a constant basis. Finally, the head of our visiting group told us, "The president of Argentina has approved our visas in person." During the process, officials in related Argentine departments all learned the truth and that Falun Dafa is great. Still, the visa was two days late, so we could not attend the Fa conference in time. As a result, we planned to go to the book exhibit in mid-April, and we realized that the truth clarification at the book exhibit would be more important than attending the Fa conference. Just then we heard that a Fa conference would be held on April 11 in New York. We had originally planned to change planes in New York, and it worked out perfectly! All 21 of us went to New York and had the opportunity to listen to Master teaching the Fa twice. We took off for Argentina in the evening of April 12. We realized it was not a coincidence that our visa was delayed and we missed the South-Central American Fa Conference because we did not apply for a tourist visa and that we had to adjust our itinerary accordingly. We silently thanked Master for his benevolent arrangements.
We arrived in Buenos Aires at noon on April 13. It rained at night and the summer weather suddenly changed into breezy, fall-like weather.
There are not many Falun Gong practitioners in Central and South America. Master said, "Of course, wherever there are no Dafa disciples there will be problems saving lives in the future; since you're Dafa disciples you will think of this." ("Teaching the Fa at the Meeting with Asia-Pacific Students") Central and South America is a huge area, where there is so much we can do to spread the Fa. Practitioners who are able to help may like to think about this issue. Amongst local practitioners there, only one came from Taiwan, and all the rest of them are Western practitioners. Besides, only a few of them can speak English. We heard that a Taiwanese doctor in a large city in northern Argentina learned Dafa when he visited Taiwan. When he returned to Argentina, he saw the local people depressed from the economic recession, so he taught people the Dafa exercises. Some practitioners continued to practice; one of them is Anna, who came to help us at the book exhibit. The doctor himself, though, later stopped practicing. Some of the Argentinean practitioners who arrived to the book exhibit came from other provinces and they lived with us. We studied the Fa, did the exercises, spread the Fa and clarified the truth together. It was a great opportunity to share our experiences. Most Argentinean people are Catholics. They were mostly interested in doing Falun Gong exercises at the beginning. After practicing, some of them realized the importance of studying the Fa and gradually they started to cultivate both mind and body and are improving as one body.
We had 21 practitioners at the book exhibit and divided into two groups. One group attended the book exhibit, while the other group went to the Chinese consulate to send forth righteous thoughts and clarify the truth in the morning, and in the afternoon they took to the streets and Chinatown to spread the Fa. The Argentineans are very friendly; the majority of them accepted a flyer and thanked us. In Chinatown, only less than half of the overseas Chinese from Mainland China accepted a flyer, and slightly more Taiwanese people accepted one. Of course, the acceptance rate changed with the intensity of our righteous thoughts. Noteworthy is that we held a nine-day class at Taiwan Huiguan, and three or four Taiwanese were present all nine days.
The book exhibit was opened for special people for three days from April 13. The general opening ceremony was held on April 16, when it was opened to the public. The opening ceremony was grand as senators, mayors and foreign ambassadors all came to attend the event. Publishers from over 400 publishing companies and bookstores from all over the world came to attend. There were also special halls representing each of the Central and South American countries, introducing their cultural aspects.
The book exhibit was open from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily. Practitioners who were on duty in the afternoon could stay at a hotel to study the Fa and do the exercises in the morning. After lunch, they would send forth righteous thoughts together before setting off to the book exhibit. The bus ride took over an hour. Practitioners at the book exhibit took turns to distribute flyers and demonstrate the Falun Gong exercises. Because the Taiwanese practitioners didn't speak Spanish, the Western practitioners took over the explanation work. After the exhibit ended, computer data showed that 1.3 million people attended the event, 300,000 more than last year. The place was crowded every day. We also learned that the Argentine president had attended the event in person and when he walked past our stall, he accepted our truth clarification flyer as well. The Dafa desk had two large banners, 2 meters long and 1.5 meters in width, one with Lunyu printed in Chinese and the other in Spanish. We also hung up a large banner with the Falun Emblem, which was very eye-catching and attracted much attention. We put a number of chairs in front of the banners printed with Lunyu. Many people sat down to read Lunyu word by word. We also promoted the Spanish version of Zhuan Falun at the exhibit.
Book distributors from Mexico, Columbia and Uruguay expressed interest in selling Zhuan Falun in their countries. The Falun Dafa Association in Argentina held three introductory sessions on the second floor of the exhibit building, where the Taiwanese practitioners demonstrated Dafa exercises. Many people attended the sessions and asked numerous questions. The sessions were very successful. According to Falun Dafa Association's estimate, over 130,000 flyers were distributed during the book exhibit, and the Association received countless phone calls. Many people went to the local practice sites. Because Buenos Aires is large; the local practitioners planned to establish new practice sites.
We helped the Argentine practitioners to print 50,000 Spanish-language Dafa flyers; in addition we brought with us 20 boxes of Chinese Dafa materials, from Taiwan to New York, then to Argentina. As most of the practitioners are elderly, it was quite an effort to carry these boxes on the trip. Later we learned that Taiwanese practitioners who could not go to Argentina had already paid for the Chinese materials in advance. While at the Fa conference in New York, upon hearing that we were going to Argentina, several practitioners took off their jackets, yellow clothes and neckerchief with the words "Falun Dafa" on them on the spot and asked us to give them to Argentine practitioners. We were much moved by their selfless acts.
The trip overseas to spread the Fa was a cultivation process. The time to wait for transportation and for the planes was rather long, but we used the time to study the Fa and do the exercises, send forth righteous thoughts, distribute flyers and clarify the truth. We didn't forget the three things Master asked us to do during our trip -- study the Fa, clarify the facts and send forth righteous thoughts. Each practitioner handed out at least 1,500 flyers during the book exhibit, and some over 2,000. I distributed more flyers than I had in the past four years added together. We did well as a group in group activities, but would we be able to do just as well if we traveled by ourselves individually? I think I still need much improvement. Of course, I often go to tourist attraction sites or streets to distribute flyers and to spread the Fa by myself, but in daily life I often forgot to leave the benevolence of Dafa with each person who happened to walk past me.
In April 2004 I went to the Fa conference in New York and then to spread the Fa in Argentina. Later, I went to Hong Kong to attend another Fa conference. All these really helped my cultivation. Other than hearing fellow practitioners' experiences, I saw that no matter what activities they participated in, be it a parade, or sending forth righteous thoughts in front of the Chinese consulate, or spreading the Fa in the streets, their hearts were totally on validating the Fa. As a practitioner, this state of mind demonstrates the natural result of his/her cultivation.
Master said,
"So I think that for Dafa disciples, clarifying the facts has become a unique way of cultivation for you cultivators today. This has never, ever happened before. And it can be called Dafa disciples' magnificent feat of validating the Fa and saving sentient beings during the Fa-rectification. You know, in the past when people cultivated they only sought their own Consummation. But the things Dafa disciples have in front of them are major. You know, I've said many times that none of the people in today's world have a simple background. If none of them have a simple background, then the people that you save, the lives that you save, the sentient beings that you save are not ordinary beings, and it's not something an ordinary cultivator could do. Only Dafa disciples of today's Fa-rectification period are able to do that as they validate the Fa, only they are worthy of doing that, and only they are allowed to do that. A speech during the 2004 north Taiwan Fa conference
(Clearwisdom.net) I live in the rural area near Handan City, Hebei Province. I went to Shijiazhuang City earlier this year to do business. There was a woman next to me who was a Falun Gong practitioner. She was very kind and very helpful to others. I could not link her to the image portrayed in the TV propaganda of "killing," "suicide," "self-immolation" etc.
She often spoke to me about Falun Gong. She told me that Falun Gong teaches people to become better, and to do things according to the principles of "Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance." In addition to doing good things and not harming others, Falun Gong tells people not to take advantage of other people, not to take things that do not belong to you, be compassionate and tolerant, to not fight back when others swear at you or beat you, to respect the elderly and care for the young. She said that practicing Falun Gong will improve one's physical health, and if one person often recites "Falun Dafa is good," he or she will be rewarded. The more I listened, the more I wanted to hear, and I felt better. Unwittingly, my health improved and my appetite became better. Moreover, in the past 10 years, I was unable to sleep well, and now it is totally fine. In the past, I could only sleep two or three hours per night. The more trouble I had sleeping, the more complicated my thoughts were, which in turn made it harder to get to sleep. It was really terrible. Now, I feel very well. I am able to eat well and sleep well. When I ride on my tricycle to sell merchandise, even a young man is unable to catch up with me.
One morning, I suddenly had a stomachache, and it was so painful that I was unable to stand up. This practitioner said, "Do you still remember that I told you to recite 'Falun Dafa is good'?" I immediately started to recite. When I recited it the second time, the feeling in my stomach immediately changed, and I was very comfortable. I was amazed to find that Falun Dafa is so magnificent; and I came to realize that the TV propaganda was just to deceive people. I decided to use my own experience to share with others that "Falun Dafa is good." I hope we all recite it, and I wish that all kindly people have a wonderful future.
(Clearwisdom.net) The Chinese Constitution guarantees citizens of the People's Republic of China (PRC) many fundamental rights. However, the persecution of Falun Gong denies practitioners of all their basic human rights (as listed below).
1. Right of Equality: Article 33 of the Constitution -- "All citizens of the People's Republic of China are equal before the law. The state respects and safeguards human rights."
2. Freedom of Speech: Article 35 -- "Citizens of the People's Republic of China enjoy freedom of speech, of the press, assembly, formation of an association, procession, and demonstration."
3. Freedom of Belief: Article 36 -- "Citizens of the People's Republic of China have freedom of religious belief."
4. Freedom of Person: Article 37 -- "The (PRC) citizen's right to freedom of person must not be violated. Illegal detention, deprivation, or use of other means to restrict citizens' freedom of the person is forbidden. Unlawful body search is also prohibited."
5. Right of Human Dignity: Article 38 -- "The citizens' personal dignity cannot be violated. Any means to humiliate, slander, make false accusation or frame up a charge against citizens of the People's Republic of China is forbidden."
6. Right of Residency: Article 39 -- "The residences of the (PRC) citizen cannot be violated. Illegal search of or unlawful intrusion into a citizen's residence is forbidden."
7. Freedom of Communication: Article 40 -- "Freedom and privacy of communication of citizens of the PRC is protected by law."
8. Right to Appeal, to Complain, and to Report: Article 41 -- "For violation of the law or neglect of duty by any government or official, citizens of the PRC have the right to appeal, complain, and report it to the related governmental office. The related office must clearly investigate the facts and be responsible in dealing with the appeal, complaint, and report. No one may suppress or retaliate against the individual making the appeal, complaint, or report.
9. Labor Right: Article 42 -- "Citizens of the PRC has the right and obligation of labor."
10. Right to an Education: Article 46 -- Citizens of the PRC has the right and obligation to receive education."
(Clearwisdom.net) Liu Jichen is the Party Deputy Secretary at the Daqing Petroleum Managing Bureau Research Center. During 1999-2001, he persecuted more than 10 Falun Dafa practitioners in different ways. He repeatedly pushed each one of them to write letters giving up the practice. He also spoke many times in public saying that, "I just hate Falun Gong!"
He actively participated in organizing two brainwashing classes, and illegally extorted money from practitioners' families. As a result, Zhang Xuebin was forced to leave home and Zou Deyi was sent to a mental hospital several times. During his post, Liu Jichen illegally sent one person to forced labor camp, and three times sent people to a detention center illegally.
In 2002, Liu Jichen was diagnosed with hepatitis, and in 2003, it became cirrhosis of the liver. Because of internal bleeding, he had to stay in hospital for a long time. He was in a life-threatening situation, and was rescued in Harbin City. He has now lost mental control and sometimes even pulls his pants onto his head. Liu Jichen is now in great pain, and in very poor health.
There are also some other people who have participated in the persecution. Most of them are also involved in fraud. For example, Zhu Dayong was recently investigated for involvement in fraud.
Zhu Dayong is the head of the Manufacturing Plant affiliated with Daqing Petroleum Managing Bureau Research Center. He actively participated in blocking practitioners from going to Beijing to appeal. In order to do this, he went to Beijing in person. In addition, he slandered Dafa and swore at practitioners. When practitioners told him that 'good is rewarded with good' etc., he spoke aloud, "I swore at Falun Gong and its Teacher, but nothing has happened to me!" Since he was involved in bribery, he was arrested and is now under investigation.
Yan Li, is the Security Head of the research center. He used different ways to persecute Falun Dafa. Now he has been removed from that post.
When Yan Li was in charge of expansion construction, he took advantage of his position to obtain personal gain. It caused anger from the public, and thus he was removed from the post.
Editor's note: Each time we publish news of this nature, we do so with heavy hearts. These people started off as public servants, but under the intense pressure applied by the Jiang regime, they were pushed into persecuting Dafa disciples. In the process of destroying the lives of kind, law-abiding citizens, they have sealed their own fates and inevitably faced karmic retribution as punishment. If it weren't for Jiang's wicked orders, perhaps their fates would've been different.

1. [Chongqing City, Sichuan Province] The Police from Dadukou Precinct Arrest Two Practitioners
On August 20, 2004, the police from Dadukou Precinct, Chongging City abducted Dafa practitioners Xiao Li (nickname) and Ms. Qiu Cuixiang from the home of Xiao Ming (nickname).
2. [Beijing] Dafa Practitioner In Haidian Precinct Ms. Lei Yang Is Arrested, Her Current Whereabouts Unknown
Bejing Dafa practitioner Lei Yang lives in the dormitory of Steel Wire Factory in Zengquang Road, Haidian Precinct, Beijing. On February 25, 2004, the police from Haidian Public Security abducted her away from her home. Later, the police searched her home and found two Dafa books. She was then sentenced to two and a half years of hard labor. Her whereabouts is still not known.

3. [Anshan, Liaoning Province] The Police Abduct Practitioner, Ms. Sun Huibin
On the morning of August 11, 2004, two policemen from Tiexi Xingcheng Police Station abducted Ms. Sun Huibin while she was on her way to market. She is being held in the Yuemingshan Secondary Detention Center.
4. [Huichun City, Jilin Province] Practitioner Mr. Zhang Songfan Is Subject to Illegal Detention and Inhuman Torture
Mr. Zhang Songfan, 43, is an employee at Grain Storage in Tumen City, Jilin Province. On the evening of April 24, 2004, Huichun City Public Security in Jilin Province abducted him while he was distributing truth-clarification materials. The National Security Brigade interrogated and tortured him. They handcuffed his hands behind his back and hook a heavy weight of more than ten kilograms around his neck. Then they denied Zhang of sleep for three consecutive days. After the torture knocked him into unconsciousness, the police transferred him to the Huichun Detention Center on April 26 while he was still conscious. After one day and one night of torture on April 28, Zhang's body was completely covered with cuts and bruises. He has become extremely frail. On August 3, he was transferred to another detention center and is waiting for the verdict from the court.

5. [Anning City, Yunnan Province] Wenquan County Police Station Arrest Practitioners
At about 2:00 PM on August 16, 2004, the police from Wenquan County, Anning City abducted two female Dafa practitioners (their names are not known); both are retired employees of Kunming Steel Company in Yunnan Province.
6. [Shanghai] Ms. Zhu Kuihua from Huadong Normal University Is Subject to Torture
Ms. Zhu Kuihua was a graduate student about 30 years old when persecution of Falun Gong began in 1999. After July 20, 1999, she was illegally detained, being brainwashed, being deprived of personal freedom and right of studying, because she refused to write "Guarantee Statement,"(1) kept practicing Falun Gong exercises in the track field on campus, and appealed for Falun Dafa in Beijing. She is now subject to cruel mental tortures.
7. [Anhui Province] Mr. Bi Xiaojuan from Huangmei Troupe Is Illegally Sentenced to Five Years of Prison
Bi Xiaohuan is a violinist in his 30's in Huangmei Troupe in Anhui Province. Because Bi practices Falun Gong, he was arrested several times. To force him to give up his belief in Falun Dafa, the police once tied him in a chair for more than seventy days.
Not long ago, Bi was sentenced to five years in the prison. Because of his severe illness, the prison refused to take him. He is now detained in the Hefei City Detention Center.
8. [Zhengzhou City, Henan Province] Police Abduct Practitioners Ms. Ma Xia and Mr. Wu Xinyun
On the midnight of July 12, 2004, the police from Twenty Seven Branch Station in Zhengzhou City abducted Dafa practitioner Mr. Wu Xinyun from his home. He was denied of any family visit. His whereabouts is unknown.
Zhengzhou City Public Security Bureau has arrested Dafa practitioner Ms. Ma Xia, while she was distributing truth-clarification materials. Her blind elderly mother in her 70's and her child who is now attending middle school were left home with no one taking care of them.
9. [Wuxue City, Hubei Province] Police Abduct Sixteen Practitioners
Since early July 2004, under the directive of Wuxue city's "610 Office," Wuxue City Public Security and local police stations have carried out a large scale of illegally searches of Falun Gong practitioners' homes and confiscated their personal properties.
According to an incomplete statistics, there are about sixteen Falun Gong practitioners in Wuxue City that have been illegally abducted by the police. Mr. Xu Xuewen and Xiao Lingtong from the National Security are responsible for these illegal arrests. Their phone number is 86-713-8964220.
10. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Mianyang City Public Security Bureau Illegally Sends Dafa Practitioner Yang to Do Forced Hard Labor
Dafa practitioner Yang, about 50 to 60 years old, is a spouse of an employee of Chengdu City Geological Prospecting Bureau in Beizhan Precinct, Chengdu City. Yang and Yang's son and daughter-in-law went to their hometown in June to distribute truth-clarification materials. The police arrested them after the local people reported them. Yang has been sentenced to a year and half of forced labor. Yang's son, Mr. He Baosen (in his 30's), has been sentenced to one year and 3 months in the forced labor camp. Yang's daughter-in-law has been also sentenced to do forced hard labor (sentenced to custody outside prison.)
11. [Huai'an City, Jiangsu Province] Practitioner Mr. Sun Yingchun from Lianshui County Is Arrested
Ms. Sun Yingchun, a Dafa practitioner in Lianshui County, Huai'an City, Jiangsu Province, was arrested recently and is currently detained in Lianshui Detention Center.

12. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Call for Urgent Rescue of Dafa Practitioners Ms. Li Baojie and Her Husband From Jinzhou Precinct
On August 19, 2004, the local police abducted Ms. Li Baojie (30's) and her husband, Mr. Pan from Panjin City, from their home in Jinzhou Precinct, Dalian City. The police confiscated a printer, printer papers and printer toner, and one removable computer hard drive, which is worth over 1,000 yuan.

(1) Guarantee Statement - A statement to declare that he or she is remorseful for practicing Falun Gong and guarantees not to practice Falun Gong again, not to go to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong, and never again associate with any Falun Dafa practitioners.
(Clearwisdom.net) A "solemn declaration" is a person's public statement declaring to the world that whatever he or she has done or said under duress or deception that was against Falun Dafa is null and void. Most of these statements have come from Falun Dafa practitioners in China who wished to express regret that, in the face of physical torture and brainwashing, they had signed documents renouncing Dafa and guaranteeing not to practice again. Also, as more and more people in China learn the truth about how they have been deceived and lied to by the Jiang regime, many non-practitioners are also submitting "solemn declarations."

Facts of the Persecution
1) Ms. Ping Guilan from Acheng City, Heilongjiang Province fully recovered from her sickness after cultivating Falun Dafa. She benefited both mentally and physically. Because she is firm in her faith, police harassed her at home many times, and she moved several times to avoid them. On March 7, 2001, Ms. Ping was sent to a brainwashing class, and later detained in the Acheng City No.1 Detention Center. She was released after being tortured for more than five months. On the evening of August 14, 2004, she went to Xiaoling Town and was arrested, while distributing truth clarifying materials. She is now held at the Acheng Detention Center. Her home was also ransacked by police.
2) My name is Yan Chunying, and I live in Changsha City, Hunan Province. Because I traveled to Beijing many times to appeal, and was also detained multiple times, I was sentenced to eighteen months in a labor camp. On March 8, 2001, I was sent to the Baimalong Labor Camp in Zhuzhou City, where police arranged for two prisoners to monitor each Falun Dafa practitioner. The monitors would not allow us to practice the exercises or recite the Fa, and prevented us from sleeping at night. They used all sorts of torture on us, these included standing for extended periods of time, hand cuffing, and shocking with electric batons. My daughter and son were also abducted. My son was sentenced to one year in a labor camp. My husband almost suffered a nervous break down due to the severity of the persecution. My peaceful family life was destroyed by this persecution.
3) Falun Dafa practitioner, Ms. Du Zi-ai from Chenxi County, Hunan Province is an elderly seamstress. Because she spread Falun Dafa to the people, she was brutally beaten by police in December 2001. Police strangled her with a rope, resulting in a major throat infection that threatened her life. Her family bailed her out for medical treatment. With wounds still not fully healed, she had to become destitute and homeless in order to avoid being harassed at home three years ago. Her whereabouts remains unknown.
4) At noon on August 16, 2004, Falun Dafa practitioner, Ms. Du Jinling from Hongtoushan Town, Fushun City, Liaoning Province was arrested by the local police substation. Police sent her to the Fushun City Detention Center that afternoon. On August 17, another practitioner from the same town, Ms. Qiu Guihua, was arrested at home and directly delivered to the Qingyuan County Detention Center. On August 18, a third Falun Dafa practitioner from the same town, Mr. Yang Bailiang, was also arrested and was sent to the Fushun City Detention Center.
5) Falun Dafa practitioner, Mr. Qin Cairong, is in her 60's, lives in the Guangzhou Railroad Company Dorm. On March 8, 2004, she clarified the truth to her colleagues, and was reported to the police. She became destitute and homeless in order to avoid being illegally arrested at home. In April 2004, she was abducted when she returned home, and was sent to the "Guangzhou City Legal Education School," a brainwashing center.
6) There are fifteen Falun Dafa practitioners detained in Shulan City Detention Center in Jilin Province at this time, eight women and seven men. Falun Dafa practitioner, Ms. Wang Youhuas was arrested by the local police substation at her home in Liangjiashan Township. Police Station Director Wang Jinfu beat her until she passed out. She is still held in a detention center. Another female practitioner, Song Bing, has been tortured severely--she is also in an advanced stage of tuberculosis. Police still refuse to release her.
7) Mr. Tang Wenwu is a retired employee of the Sichuan Provincial Space Academy. He is 63 years old and lives at No.1 Xinguanghua Street, Chengdu City, Sichuan Province. Because he refused to give up cultivating Falun Gong, he has been under house arrest since 2001. Persons from the Renmindonglu Police Substation, Yanshikou Neighborhood Administration, and his former employer decided to withhold his retirement salary. They have eight people watching him to prevent him from leaving his home.
