With ordinary people now holding the Fourth Plenary Meeting, some fellow practitioners feel that a certain leader in the central government is good, and they hope that the head of the evil hands over power to this leader, along with other thoughts that rely on ordinary people. Some practitioners have been keeping a close watch on this news everyday, and their moods fluctuate along with it. Actually, regarding these issues, Teacher has made it very clear over and over again, so why are some people still so attached to hoping that the wrongs against Falun Dafa can be redressed or gaining a fair, just environment through some source of strength from ordinary people? Why is it that at critical moments, we always forget the Fa that Teacher expounded specifically targeting our attachments?

Our Falun Dafa practitioners' clarifying the truth is not affected by external forces. Whether the head of the evil steps down or not, we all still have to extensively and comprehensively clarify the truth. Even if the head of the evil steps down, we still need to continue to thoroughly tell the world's people about the persecution that has been happening for the past few years, so that more of the world's people can understand what has been happening. If the head of evil steps down but still continues to control the persecution from behind the scenes, we'll expose his new crimes while continuing to expose the persecution. If he still clings to his post, we should search within ourselves more thoroughly, purify ourselves even more and do better in clearing away the evil and clarifying the truth.

In terms of the leaders of the Chinese Government, it doesn't matter what rank they hold in the ordinary world. As far as we are concerned, aren't they all sentient beings? Aren't their futures determined by their attitudes toward Falun Dafa and the persecution? The attachment of pursuit, depending on ordinary people and observing society's direction are all serious obstacles for clarifying the truth. These impure mindsets often cause the results to be the opposite of the intention. These types of hard lessons should not happen again and again.

Furthermore, through contact with practitioners in different areas, I noticed something in the Shijiazhuang area and its neighboring cities and towns. Materials that did not come from Dafa websites are being circulated to different degrees. Some were compiled by people intent on damaging Falun Dafa, for example "The Great Golden Shining Path." Some were compiled by practitioners who run truth-clarification material sites, for example, "Something is Going on in China."

The content of "Something is Going on in China" was excerpted from an ordinary people's website. Basically, it talks about how high-ranking officials in the Chinese Government openly did the Falun Gong exercises as a group in their compound, and how there was a furious debate on the Falun Gong issue in the Central Committee Meeting, where they nearly came to blows, as well as other unconfirmed information that has been circulating among ordinary people. Actually, this is all old news from ordinary people's websites. Today, even those websites have let those matters go.

If you were a member of ordinary society instead of a Falun Dafa practitioner, you would have a different standard guiding your actions. For people in society, there is no issue of not being allowed to get involved in politics. But if we cultivators take political content and make it into truth clarification material, and distribute it to ordinary people on a large scale, the effect will be extremely negative, because it directly violates Falun Dafa's requirements. We say that we do not get involved in politics, but when ordinary people don't understand the truth, they don't just listen to what you say--they really watch what you do. When they see what you do and feel that you are getting involved in politics, they'll develop a negative impression, and then it will be very difficult for them to accept it no matter how you defend your actions. Isn't this pushing people away, then?

I. The Cultivation of Falun Dafa Forbids Getting Involved in Politics

Right now the Chinese Communist Party is holding its Fourth Plenary Meeting. A lot of reports have indicated that the head of the evil was forced to resign and hand over power. Then, how should our Falun Dafa practitioners look at these issues? If it is true, should we relax a little and feel that the environment is getting easier, or pin our hopes on the new person in power redressing the wrongs against Falun Dafa?

Right now some practitioners feel that a certain leader in the central government is good and hope that the head of the evil steps down. Teacher has made it very clear in lecture after lecture: Falun Dafa practitioners have their own mission to save the world's people, and we should not turn around and depend on ordinary people to redress the wrongs against Falun Dafa; even less should we disregard how ordinary people will end up and forget about our responsibilities, only hoping to end our own suffering as soon as possible.

When an ordinary person steps forward to support Falun Dafa and says that Falun Dafa is good, it is this being's goodness being displayed and properly positioning him or herself in the Fa-rectification. As Fa-rectification Falun Dafa disciples, we should clearheadedly walk our path righteously, safeguard Falun Dafa's purity and remember Teacher's teachings by heart:

"I have repeatedly emphasized that we absolutely do not get involved in politics, that we absolutely do not meddle in politics and that we absolutely do not take part in politics." (From "Teaching the Fa in the Beijing International Experience Sharing Conference", unofficial translation)

No matter what happens in ordinary society, our minds should remain unaffected. The Falun Dafa practitioner's path is the Fa-validation path that Teacher has arranged for us. How to do well now lies in the three things that Teacher requires of us.

From my recent Fa-study, my personal understanding is that the current situation is very favorable to our clarifying the truth. The evil in other dimensions can no longer sustain itself. The two big decisive battles in Beijing and New York are major engagements at a time when Fa-rectification is drawing to a close. The evil will soon no longer be able to continue, and a very big change will also take place in the ordinary world. However, no matter how big a change may happen, we as Falun Dafa practitioners should remain unaffected and should not be moved by the outside world. Perhaps the head of the evil in China will step down (or perhaps he will cling dearly to his post), perhaps many countries and organizations outside of China will give us enormous support, but Falun Dafa disciples have Teacher's teachings to guide us on how to take each step well. We should not slack off because of any change in external conditions and develop thoughts and behavior that are like those of ordinary people.

On the other hand, when many fellow practitioners who have not been diligent read Teacher's recent lectures, they almost could not believe it: Fa-rectification really is about to draw to an end and the first large-scale process of weeding out really is approaching. Many were awakened and have returned to Falun Dafa one after another. We can see that time is truly quite pressing; the time to save sentient beings is quite pressing. Once this matter is over, those people who still do not understand the truth will no longer be saved. Therefore, we Falun Dafa practitioners should seize the day and try our best to save the world's people. People of today are also reincarnations of high-level beings, who have gone through so much to get to today. How important it is to save a life!

At this final stage of Fa-rectification, our minds should be calm and stable, "taking the Fa as our Teacher." The only hope and the only thing that sentient beings can count on are Falun Dafa practitioners in the world today, so we should walk the Falun Dafa practitioners' path righteously. No matter how we validate and safeguard Falun Dafa and save sentient beings, we must follow Falun Dafa's requirements and we must not lower our standard, and even less should we conduct ourselves as ordinary people or even deviate from and damage Falun Dafa.

II. Taking the Fa as Our Teacher in the Strictest Sense

Some people have come to some understanding of one of Teacher's poems in Hongyin II,

Minghui saves the predestined ones
Xinsheng removes the mind's ill-thoughts
Renmin's knifelike prose unnerves demons
Falun Dafa is Zhengjian*

• Translator's note: Minghui (ClearWisdom), Xinsheng, Renminbao, and Zhengjian (PureInsight) are names of Chinese websites. The last line in Chinese here has a double-entendre, as "zhengjian" means "right view."

They believe that "Renmin" is referring to the Renminbao website, and since Renminbao makes positive reports about Dafa, they believe that by reprinting articles from Renminbao, we are conforming to Dafa.

This behavior is interpreting Teacher's words out of context and covering up one's own attachments, and if one can't recognize this and correct it, it can easily lead one astray.

A mere few days after Hongyin II was published, I saw a flyer at a fellow practitioner's home. All of the articles in that flyer came from Renminbao, and the content in that flier was similar to other flyers under different names that appeared later on. I voiced my opinion and said we should not distribute this type of flyer as Falun Dafa disciples' truth clarification literature. Unfortunately, it became evident that other practitioners were indifferent, and no one tried to stop those people responsible for the circulation of these flyers. They all felt that it was enough to talk about it, and everyone has their own understanding--it was fine as long as they weren't the ones passing the flyers out. They didn't think about truly being responsible to the Fa, to themselves, to the fellow practitioners who made these flyers, and to the people that read them.

Later, I met practitioners from other areas in the past few days, and they all said they have seen these flyers. They said they told the practitioners who distributed the flyers that they were not Minghui articles and should not be distributed as truth clarification literature, but they didn't solemnly point out the consequences of passing out those flyers and the damage they could cause.

During this last stage of Fa-rectification, the evil force is creating great internal interference among the Dafa practitioners. There always seems to be someone doing inconceivable things that deviate from Dafa, even things that undermine Dafa. These things should be a matter of deep concern from Dafa disciples. Just because we are in the final phase, we can't take shortcuts and not think about the Fa, or not think carefully about whether something is in accordance with Dafa.

Recently, some practitioners in Wuhan City bought pre-made Buddha statues to promote Dafa. In some areas, practitioners did things that deviated from Dafa while playing waist-drums. In some areas, practitioners changed the Fa rectification verses and the form for sending forth righteous thoughts, which also took place here locally. Some people in our area pretend to be studying the Fa on the surface, but they are actually not studying and running away from Fa rectification. They gathered together a group of people and do messed-up things all day long.

Why is it that these people are not behaving according to the requirements of Dafa and often do a set of different things, yet they think they are doing the right thing?

Before Teacher published the most recent teachings, we had felt during experience sharing that for quite a long time, the strength and results of truth clarification have not been good. We felt like the area covered by our truth clarification was too small, the number of people that have understood the truth and received salvation was too small, despite the fact that we have distributed so many flyers, VCDs and other materials in the past few years. So why is this the case?

Thinking it over, Teacher has always told us to clarify the truth. Mainland Falun Dafa disciples don't have any media at their disposal. Television in particular has a huge impact and influence on people, because they can see it with their own eyes, as if they were being communicated to face to face, so of course the impact is the greatest. Since we don't have our own TV channel, we can distribute VCD's, which should be able to clarify things pretty well. Indeed, we've distributed a lot of VCD's. Reading newspapers is also a major way for ordinary people to get information, so we have also produced a lot of flyers and pamphlets to clarify the truth, which provide an adequate amount of information. On top of this, we have done audiotapes and tapped into TV broadcasts. We have done everything we could think of.

Dafa practitioners are the main body during Fa-rectification cultivation. We overly depended on truth clarification materials and for a long time, ignored our own power and value. These materials are only tools to assist in our large-scale truth clarification efforts. Although other practitioners have written articles online that constantly reminded us of the importance of clarifying the truth face-to-face and improving our understanding of Fa principles, we have not paid enough attention to this issue as a whole.

What I want to say is, when unconsciously Dafa disciples don't clearly understand or don't measure up to the requirements Dafa has for us during this period, the evil will take advantage of the omission. It will do everything it can think of to restrict us, to keep us from improving in terms of the Fa, and have us do things in a passive, low-efficiency manner. During experience sharing, we realized that most of the practitioners who distributed flyers in the past few years were in the situation mentioned above (of course, this is not always true), and a large portion of the other practitioners hardly distributed anything. They only read Teacher's lectures, and some also read articles from the Minghui website. As for the practitioners who distribute flyers, some of them think that they are not linguistically gifted, so they make up for it by passing out more materials; some thought that distributing flyers was their strength; and some thought, "There are so many people, how long would it take if I talked to everyone with this one mouth of mine? I should just pass out flyers--even like this there isn't enough time." As a result, for most practitioners, they clarified the truth using their speech to a very small or insufficient extent, which limited the outcome of our truth clarification efforts as a whole.

In fact, for many of those Dafa practitioners who do not have mental barriers in this area, they have been talking to people while giving them flyers. After several years, their way of thinking and speaking ability have improved by leaps and bounds. More importantly, when it comes to whether a person really understood the truth, how to improve in clarifying the truth, what kind of materials works better, and which ones need to be improved--only those who often talk face to face while distributing materials are able to get sufficient direct feedback. From this information, they are able to reach an objective, accurate understanding and judgment, so that they can then help people truly establish righteous thoughts through the materials they passed out, in a rational, wise way. Not distributing materials is definitely doing something from one side only, but giving out as many as possible is not our goal, either. Our goal is to help people establish righteous thoughts toward Dafa and understand the nature of the persecution.

If we can't let go of the attachment of relying on others, it will lead to bad consequences, no matter whom we rely on. We have gone through the lesson of relying on ordinary people many times, such as relying on the former Premier of China, the United Nations Human Rights Commission, putting our hopes in Party congresses, and other examples. We have had enough of these painful lessons. The resulting losses and difficulties are reflected in the way we have done things subsequently. Even though what's being relied on is the materials production site run by Dafa disciples, if everyone relies on the materials production site, then the evil would focus on destroying it, so that no one could read articles from Minghui or get a hold of truth-clarification materials. If we all let go of our ordinary people's mentality and proactively participate in validating the Fa with righteous thoughts, do everything we are supposed to do with Dafa disciples' pure compassion and great forbearance, there wouldn't be so many painful lessons. We should establish material production sites, and everyone should be a material site unto himself. We should proactively clarify the truth and eliminate the evil's interference with the materials sites. We should not just casually pay lip service to it, but we should put it into action after realizing what to do! An elderly Dafa disciple in Beijing bought a small portable copier and solved the problem of producing truth-clarifying materials. Some practitioners make copies of audiotapes and distribute them. Some practitioners find reasons to go to public places and clarify the truth to people there, and hand out small handicrafts they made that have words clarifying the truth on them, etc. So why is it such a difficult thing to do in our area?

The key reason is that we only focused on doing things, instead of cultivating as we do them. We have to ask ourselves how much we believe in the Fa, to what extent do we believe, how much have we reserved for ourselves, and to what extent--can we let go of self and melt into Fa-rectification, or are we protecting ourselves and leaving difficulties to others? Of course, practitioners who are unable to do certain things cannot be forced to do them by others, but how much are we truly putting our hearts into doing these Fa-rectification things, and do we truly believe in Dafa?

Teacher said in his recent article, "Let Go of Human Attachments and Save the World's People,"

"This is especially so for the Dafa disciples in Mainland China: each must come out and clarify the truth, bringing it to every field and valley, mountain and hill, not omitting a single area where there are people. And as for people who want to learn the practice after you clarify the truth, you should arrange for them to study the Fa and learn the exercises as soon as possible. They are the next group of disciples who will cultivate.

"When you clarify the truth, you need to make Fa-study a priority. And stop reading and passing around those fake scriptures made by rotten demons who disrupt the Fa and that are spread by the evil taking advantage of students who have studied the Fa poorly and harbor strong human attachments. Keep up your righteous thoughts and righteous actions, keep a clear head, and rationally and comprehensively save the world's people."

My personal understanding is that Dafa disciples should cherish this opportunity and spread the truth about Dafa to every corner in China instead of distributing truth clarification materials without a clear purpose. We should step forward and talk personally to the Chinese people, without waiting for or relying on other people, and be proactive. We should get in contact with the Chinese people in the most direct way, clarifying the truth with wisdom and rationality. While doing this, we should distribute more materials, covering a greater area with a greater variety of ways to do so. It's not that we should stop passing out materials. Through our direct observation and contact, we will know from the people's firsthand reaction how we can awaken their souls. Our materials will therefore be more accurate and effective, and more able to directly dispel their confusion and truly offer them salvation. If we only give out flyers and do not talk to them, they won't even know where to go to learn to practice.

Those people who circulate bad things should stop being led by their attachments and stop being used by the evil to interfere with and disrupt Dafa. Even more so, they should not disrespect Teacher's benevolence and take their own lives as a joking matter.

III. Recognize Clearwisdom's role in Fa-rectification

As a trustworthy and reliable website for Fa rectification period Dafa disciples, Clearwisdom has far-reaching functions and significance. It is a website that truly regards the Fa as the teacher, and is a place that serves both practitioners and society at large, a place where cultivators can exchange experiences and Dafa is promoted. Clearwisdom Net is a beacon that Teacher has given us to light our path and for the path of the world's people, and it is pure and righteous. Teacher said, "It's not that the Minghui website is never wrong, but when it comes to major issues, you must look at Minghui's stance. When I published my picture and 'The Knowing Heart' on the Minghui website, the purpose was to establish a credible website for you."

We cannot rely on ordinary people to validate Dafa. Dafa disciples' and ordinary people's validation of Dafa and their understandings are filtered, processed, purified and rectified through Clearwisdom and then returned back to the Dafa disciples and the world's people. This cycle and purification process go on continually, and nothing in ordinary society can compare to it, and Teacher is watching the website. So articles on Clearwisdom have the pure and righteous power endowed by Dafa, helping Dafa disciples to carry out the magnificent task of validating Dafa and offering salvation to the world's people, so Dafa disciples should follow the overall direction of Clearwisdom on the major issues of validating and upholding Dafa. There was no report on Clearwisdom regarding the Fourth Plenary Meeting. Instead, articles about truth clarification and cultivation are continuously being published. Isn't this a telling direction?

In closing, please allow me to share with everyone Teacher's poem "Hurry Up And Tell Them:"

"As Dafa disciples tell people the facts,
It's like sharp swords shooting out together from their mouths,
Shredding apart the rotten demons' lies.
Lose no time and save them; hurry up and tell them!"

(Clearwisdom.net)After my graduation in 1988, I was given a government job in Beijing. I started a family and led an outwardly happy life. But deep down I wasn't really happy. I didn't know what the meaning of life is. I didn't know the meaning of true joy.

Fortunately, in 1995 I started practicing Falun Gong, which benefited me both mentally and physically. My concept of the world changed. I become optimistic and I was able to comprehend and be tolerant of others.

Since my job entailed handling economic issues for our country, accepting gifts from customers in the import/export business was a regular affair. Prior to my practicing Falun Dafa, I always felt that there was nothing wrong with accepting gifts. But after I started to cultivate, I recognized that it was not proper. I was strict with myself and tried to be a truly good person, as taught by Teacher(1).

In July of 1999, the former leader of China Jiang Zemin initiated the persecution and suppression of Falun Gong and those who practice it.

On July the 20^th and 21^st, I went to Beijing to the Appeal Bureau to tell them the facts about Falun Gong. When I arrived I found that many other practitioners were also there to appeal. Police and police vehicles were everywhere. Before we were able to reach the Appeal Bureau, we were intercepted by police and loaded on a bus and detained in an open gymnasium in the Shijingshan Section. We were released that night after our names, addresses and workplaces had been recorded.

Since then, my workplace stopped me from working. I was forced to watch videos and read newspapers, magazines, and documents slandering Falun Gong in my unit leader's office.

During that period, it felt like each day was as long as a year. Every day I was forced to watch videos slandering Dafa and Teacher. When I told others the truth about Dafa, I was told to shut up. Under this tremendous pressure, I kept silent. To prevent me from getting in touch with other practitioners, my unit leader ordered me not to take any phone calls and sent someone to escort me back and forth from home. My bonus was suspended and now my work and family life was in chaos.

On December 27, 1999 I found out that Falun Dafa practitioners Li Chang and Yao Jie were to be tried in the Beijing City Second Intermediate People Court. I brought my ID with me so that I could sit in the courtroom. Uniformed and plainclothes police surrounded the courtroom. I showed my ID to the police guarding the court door and told them my intention. I was taken to a bus parked beside the court. There were many practitioners the bus. More practitioners who were attempting to sit in the courtroom were continuously taken to the bus. Following this we were imprisoned in the Beijing City Public Security Zhaoyang Branch Station. The reason for our imprisonment was said to be "disturbing social order". On the evening of January the 4th, I was released.

On the morning of January the 5th, a day after I was released, my unit section head (a woman) and another colleague came to my house. Two police claiming to be responsible for the security in my area also came to visit. One of them kept telling me: Why are you practicing Falun Gong? Why not practice something else? While he was talking, he kept searching my household. When I asked for his work ID and search warrant, he suggested that we go to my office. During this time, my husband usually took our child to school and then returned home. I believed what they told me and both my husband and I went with them. I realized I would be arrested when I saw that the road we were taking wasn't the way to my office. They took me to the Third Affiliated Hospital (a mental hospital) of Beijing Medical School. I tried to escape, but they guarded all the car doors. Four men (two police, my colleague and my husband) each took hold of my limbs and carried me into the hospital hallway. I struggled to try to free myself. My long gown slipped from me and my glasses fell off. I cried out: "I am a Falun Gong practitioner. I am not a mental patient."

I was taken to a consulting room. A doctor asked me some questions. I told her my bitter experience. She diagnosed me as clear-headed and refused to accept me. Police weren't going to give up and negotiated with the hospital. I was detained in the hospital that afternoon and was taken to a women's section in the fourth floor. I was ordered to change into a hospital gown. My shoes, belt, outer garments and money were confiscated. I stayed there until January the 13th. I came into contact with all kinds of mental patients for eight sleepless nights. It was an unforgettable experience.

On the evening when I first entered the hospital, because I refused to eat, I was tied to an metal bed by four nurses. I was regarded as a special patient and was forced to accept special treatment. The treatment was: "Don't insist on practicing Falun Gong. If you continue insisting, it will influence your future and your husband's future, destroying your family." I met a male Falun Gong practitioner in the men's section on the second floor. He was a sophomore in college. He went to appeal and was detained. His parents were able to have him released on bail. To preserve his school register and so as not to affect his future, his parents sent him to the mental hospital, under the suggestion by police. He had been there for several months and was forced to take medicine and other drugs by injection.

On February the 4th, my mother, my daughter and I went to Tiananmen Square and unfurled a banner that read "Truthfulness, Benevolence, and Forbearance."(2) My mother and I were arrested for the second time.

In the Zhaoyang Detention Center, police used methods such as sentence reduction and early release to coerce other prisoners to beat and insult practitioners so as to force us to give up our cultivation. Because several practitioners and I were practicing the Falun Gong exercises, the head of the guards instigated several prisoners to beat our faces with a shoe's sole and kicked our chests and backs while using vulgar language to scold us.

In early March, I was sentenced to serve one year in a forced labor camp (2/6/2000 ~ 2/5/2001). Later, a person from my workplace came to the detention center to notify me that I had been expelled from the Communist Party. At the end of March, I was told I could serve my sentence outside the labor camp, thus I was released on probation.

After I came home from the detention center, I found out my husband had sent our 8-year-old daughter to a relative's home that was thousands of miles away from Beijing. My workplace refused to let me go back to work, and my salary and benefits had been stopped since the time of my detainment. On April 20, I was told to choose between: (a) give up the practice of Falun Gong and go back to work, or (b) continue to practice Falun Gong and resign from my job with a government agency.

I firmly believe that there is nothing wrong with being a good person, and there is nothing wrong with practicing "Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance." I chose the latter and left the job that I had and loved for almost 12 years.

My child was sent away and I lost my job. All the pressure made my husband depressed and unhappy. He said on many occasions that he wanted a divorce. Very often he would get angry with me, and even threw things around. My home had lost the warmth and comfort of its former days.

On December 31, 2000, the police stopped me while I was out shopping. In broad daylight and with many eyewitnesses, three police officers forced me into the back of a police vehicle. I accused them breaking the law while working as law enforcement officers, but they said I was still serving my sentence and they could arrest me anytime. (The real reason was that they were afraid of Falun Gong practitioners going to Beijing to appeal on the first day of the New Year.) They searched my handbags and body searched me. In my bag, they found two pieces of paper with "Falun Dafa is Good" and "Falun Dafa suffers the Biggest Injustice in History." written on them. I was sent to the detention center again.

I was held in the detention center for three and a half months. Other than being interrogated once on January 1, 2001, I did not leave the dark, cold, and damp jail cell. The cell was about 20 square meters (about 210 square feet) large, and there were 20 to 30 prisoners in the cell. In the long three and a half months, we were punished with a method called the "sitting board" (3) for over 10 hours everyday. Several times, I was awakened in the middle of the night and forced to sit on the board. The jail police regularly searched the cell, and they strip-searched us. We had two meals a day, usually steamed cornbread and cabbage boiled in water. There was no hot water to take a shower. I would rinse my head and body under the cold running water when I could not stand the filth anymore. My sentence was extended for another year. On March 15, I was sent to the prison dispatch center.

Anyone who has stayed at a prison dispatch center knows it is one of the darkest places run by the Chinese government. We were forced to work 16 to 17 hours a day. I was forced to carry sacks that weighed over 100 pounds each. The sacks were full of disposable chopsticks that were made by machines. We were told to carry the bags from the courtyard to each room in the female prisoner wing. The room was about 12 to 13 square meters (about 130 square feet) in size, and there were over a dozen prisoners in each room. We were told to package the chopsticks into a small paper bags that had "Disinfected" labels. But none of us even washed our hands. The chopsticks were stepped on, left on the beds, or piled up on the floor. There was no disinfection procedure at all. The police would have us put these chopsticks into cardboard boxes printed with "sanitized disposable chopsticks" on the label. We were slave labor for the prison police. In this filthy place, we packaged disposable chopsticks with our dirty and bleeding hands. The police used our slave labor to deceive the world and make money.

We worked and slept in the same room. We were not allowed to walk around (there was no room to walk around anyway). We could not leave the room without permission. We could use the toilet only twice a day.

One day, I was summoned to the office for refusing to read articles that slandered Falun Gong. We were supposed to take turns in reading them aloud while others were working. A jail guard wearing leather boots punished me by kicking me and stepping on my head. The punishment lasted about half an hour.

On April 6, I was sent to Xin'an Forced Labor Camp in the Daxin District of Beijing. There I lived my life in total absence of justice. There were 50 to 60 people sent to the labor camp on that day, and 90% of them were Falun Dafa practitioners. We were assigned to different brigades upon arriving at the labor camp. I and over a dozen others were assigned to the No. 5 brigade. We were strip-searched by the police. Afterwards, we were assigned to different units. The No. 5 brigade had seven units, with about 120 prisoners in total. Among the prisoners, only 5 or 6 were regular inmates, all the rest were Falun Dafa practitioners.

The moment I arrived at my unit, 3 or 4 people who had already been forced to give up Falun Dafa surrounded me. At first, they tried to convince me to give up the practice. When I refused to listen to them, they started shouting, beating and kicking me. That night, I was summoned to the jail guard office and was forced to stand facing the wall. Time after time, I fell asleep standing and almost fell down. The jail police arranged a few regular inmates to keep an eye on me; they woke me up over and over again. After one night of standing, those people continued to surround me and tried to brainwash me the next day. They arranged people to keep talking to me throughout the next night. I was not allowed to sleep. I was told that if I still refused to write a guarantee statement, no one in my unit would be allowed to sleep. Not everyone in my unit was a Falun Dafa practitioner. My heart was moved knowing that they would be deprived of sleep after a whole day of work because of me. I was confused. Even though I wanted to persevere, I felt more exhausted than I had ever felt before. I thus allowed the evil to take advantage of this gap in my understanding (4).

Every day, besides being forced to perform heavy labor, we were also forced to watch video programs that defamed Falun Gong and slandered Falun Gong practitioners. These programs were skillfully edited to take things out of context for the purpose of brainwashing jailed practitioners.

During my imprisonment, my husband fell ill due to depression and the pressure from everything around him. He was hospitalized and diagnosed with hepatitis-B. When his workplace became aware of my situation, they tried to pressure my husband to divorce me.

Under the persecution, my family was broken up because of my belief in Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance. My mother had been detained 14 times because she persisted in practicing Falun Gong. In order to avoid further persecution, she lived without a fixed residence for over half a year.

After serving the two-year sentence, with a lot of help, I was able to find a job. I brought my daughter back to Beijing. But the local police and the neighborhood administrative office still harassed me constantly. To understand my thoughts and emotional state, they called and visited me regularly. My family lived in constant fear because of me.

Right before "10.1" (5) of 2002, the local police, "610 Office" and the neighborhood administrative office again visited me; they wanted me to answer a survey. I refused their request. When they tried to take me away forcefully, I said to the police, "I am no longer a member of the Communist Party, you have no right to know what I think, even less to have me think the same way as the Communist Party! My husband is very ill right now, I cannot go with you!" Their attempt failed that time.

3. Sitting Board - Everyday, practitioners put their hands on top of their laps, with backs straight and sitting on benches 18 hours per day. This continued for over fifty days. The authorities even limited practitioners' restroom use. Because of the long time spent sitting on hard benches, practitioners' buttocks grew big sores that hurt badly. Practitioners could not even urinate normally because of the pain. Because the labor camp was very damp, the police would not allow practitioners to have air ventilation or the chance to get some sunlight, and practitioners were locked up for so long, countless red scabies grew on the entire body of the practitioner; they were incomparably itchy and painful.

(Clearwisdom.net) On May 4, 2001, a number of illegally detained, hunger-striking Falun Dafa practitioners were brutally tortured in Yi County Detention Center.

In the morning the prison guards forced the practitioners into the passageway and made them kneel down. One of the guards, Liu, in his 30's, lashed them one by one with a belt. Two practitioners were then called to come out of the yard gate. The director of the detention center suddenly kicked them down onto a steep slope head first. Four criminal prisoners came up and restrained the practitioners by their hands so that they could not move at all. The director was kicking one practitioner's forehead while two criminal prisoners forced a meter-long steel pipe into the practitioner's mouth. They did the same thing to the other practitioner. Their mouths were horribly damaged. Several of their front teeth were broken, they were forced to bite into their own flesh, their gums were cut open, some teeth were loosened, and blood was pouring down all over their faces and clothes. Their mouths had been pried opened with excruciating force. The prisoners then force-fed several spoonfuls of pig food into the pipes. After such inhuman torture, the practitioners were almost too horrible to look at.

In the afternoon, all the practitioners were carried outside the yard and tied to chairs. The doctors inserted a tube into each practitioner's mouth and force-fed them. The prison guards slapped those who were vomiting. Two practitioners who were tortured the most seriously were not able to eat even soft food like steamed bread for several months. It is hard to imagine how painful it was for them during those months.

Practitioners Ms. Li Aimin and Ms. Wang Fengqin, from Xishan Beixiang and Yujia Zhuang, Yi County, suffered the cruelest maltreatment.

(Clearwisdom.net) Gansu No. 3 Women's Forced Labor Camp physically and mentally tortures illegally detained Falun Gong practitioners, even forcing elderly practitioners over 60 years old to work more than ten hours a day. Practitioners do not have a set time to eat, cannot freely use the toilet, and are supervised 24 hours a day. They are forced to write a "thought" report once a week, seven pages of "transformation statements" every month, press handprints, and peel soybean and garlic.

Ms. Qiang Weixiu is a 36-year-old agricultural college graduate and Qingyang Oil Field cadre. She was abducted and taken to the forced labor camp for shouting out, "Falun Dafa is great!" The forced labor camp feared that she would have an affect on other detained practitioners so they rejected her admission. In June 2004, she was illegally sentenced to 2 years of forced labor. She was isolated and supervised by 4 police officers and 6 drug addicts (Shan Guilan, Li Hongwei, Ma Shulin, Xu Lifang, Xu Jing, and Liu Juan). She was forced to attend brainwashing sessions and physically tortured for 12 days. As a result, her body movements became abnormal.

Ms. Li Jianhong is a 44-year-old practitioner from Lanzhou. In January 2004, she was sentenced to one and a half years of forced labor for the second time (the first time was one year). She was verbally and physically abused and forced to stand in one position for a long time by policewoman Yue Yongjun (34-year-old) and drug addicts Liu Aiyu, Bai Mudan and others.

Ms. Zhang Caiqin, 48 years old, and a practitioner from Gangu, was sentenced to one and a half years of forced labor in January 2003. As Zhang is illiterate and refused to denounce her belief, policewoman Yue Yongjun used all sorts of deceptive means, and made the drug addicts write the so-called denounce and Guarantee Statement for her. After Zhang made a solemn declaration to void the statements, Yue Yongjun punished the class leader Ma Shulin and group leader Yao Lirong by hanging them upside down for 20 minutes in the confinement room on February 14, 2004. Several days later, officer Yue asked others to copy the "transformation statement," and more than ten people dragged and forced Zhang to give her fingerprint.

Ms. Qi Guiying, 38-year-old Linxia Dafa practitioner, was again sentenced to forced labor for 3 years in April 2003. She was also brutally persecuted and gave up the practice of Falun Dafa because she could not endure the severe tortures inflicted upon her.

Ms. Sun Shulin, 42-year-old practitioner from Linxia, was sentenced to 2 years of forced labor in April 2003. She suffered brutal persecution during her detention and was forced to renounce her belief in "Truth-Compassion-Tolerance."

Ms. Song Youli, 38-year-old practitioner from Lanzhou City, Gansu Province was sentenced to 1 year of forced labor in May 2004. She also suffered brutal persecution and was not able endure the severe tortures. She was forced to renounce her practice of Falun Dafa.

Ms. Yang Zhenfang, 46-year-old Pingliang practitioner, was sentenced to one and a half years of forced labor in January 2003. Under the severe persecution and not able to endure the suffering, she gave up the practice of Falun Dafa.

Ms. Cao Fang, 50 year-old practitioner from Pingliang, was sentenced to 1 year of forced labor in March 2003. She was later transferred to a prison because she was implicated by a different case.

Ms. Liu Huiling, 35 year-old Pingliang practitioner, was sentenced to 3 years of forced labor. She was forced to dig out dung and other types of dirty and hard work during the daytime, and stand in one position for a long period of time, do extra work, and verbally and physically abused at night time because she persists in her belief of "Truth-Compassion-Tolerance."

Ms. Wang Yuxia, 42 year-old practitioner from Qingyang, has been detained in the forced labor camp twice. In December 2003, she was beaten and kicked by drug addicts Shan Guilan and Ma Shulin, and locked up in a confinement room for 10 consecutive days and nights. During that time, she was given only a small bread bun to eat every day, and not allowed to drink anything.

Ms. He Xuerong, 47 year-old Qingyang practitioner, was sentenced to one and a half years of forced labor for the second time (the first time was one year). She suffered brutal persecution and was force to give up the practice of Falun Dafa.

Ms. Wang Xin, over 30 years old from Tianshui, was sentenced to one and a half years of forced labor. She renounced her belief in "Truth-Compassion-Tolerance" when she could no longer endure the brutal persecution.

Ms. Dong Lanping, 50 year-old from Lanzhou, was sentenced to forced labor for the third time. She was forced to work during the daytime, and at nighttime, she was forced to stand for a long period of time, work, and was verbally and physically abused.

The above Dafa practitioners solemnly declare that all of their words and deeds that do not conform to Dafa under the forced brainwashing and brutal persecution to be void.

(Clearwisdom.net) Police in Shulan City Detention Center, Jilin Province, do not care about people's lives. Thirty-one-year-old Ms. Song Bing was infected with tuberculosis inside the Detention Center. Her life is in danger, as she suffers from frequent loss of consciousness, irregular heartbeat, and numbness in all four limbs. Still the Center will not release her or any other practitioners who are suffering unthinkable torture.

On August 19, 2004, Ms. Song was examined by the Shulan City Tuberculosis Clinic. The X-ray photo showed an egg-sized infection on her lung, which was only as big as a coin a month before. The doctor explained that tuberculosis is an airborne contagion. Whenever she coughs she sends bacteria into the air, which can make others sick. The doctor reported that she must be isolated, and that her lungs, stomach, and heart were all in very bad condition. She could die any second.

The regulations posted on the wall in the detention center office states that persons with contagious diseases and pregnant women are not allowed to be admitted. The Chinese Constitution also says that a citizen has the right to live and be healthy throughout one's life. The newly posted law regarding contagious diseases makes it clear that Ms. Song should be released immediately.

Ms. Song Bing and her older sister Song Yanqun were both arrested in their home on November 26, 2003, by Shulan City police under direct orders from City Mayor Zhang Zhimin. The police stormed into their house, grabbed them by their necks, stuffed their mouths with rags, and abducted them to the detention center. In April 2004, she started feeling discomfort in her chest, had trouble breathing, and coughed. She never had such symptoms before. Her cellmates Ms. Cao Yanwen and Ms. Liang Yunhua both had tuberculosis and coughed up blood. When she was locked in solitary confinement several days earlier, three people were assigned to watch her. One of those people has apparently been infected by her, and several other cellmates are also feeling discomfort in their chests and having trouble breathing, but no one is doing anything about it.

More details of her story follow:

Ms. Song was secretly sentenced to 14 years in prison, but on May 25, 2004, when she arrived at Changchun Women's Prison, she was diagnosed with tuberculosis. Because of this contagious disease, the prison refused to take her, and she was sent back to the detention center where she has been held ever since. Her sister Song Yanqun was secretly sentenced to 12 years in prison and is now being held in Changchun City Women's Prison.

On June 16, 2004, Shulan City Detention Center Deputy Director Ms. Sun Guangyu and policewoman Zhang Yunjing took Song Bing for a CT scan at the Jilin City Hospital. The scan found a 3 x 3.6 cm lesion on her lung, and she was again diagnosed with tuberculosis.

On July 13, 2004, the Center's Director Mr. Zhuang Runjiang and policeman Ma Binglai took Song Bing to Jilin City People's Central Hospital for another CT scan, which revealed a 3.4 x 3.6 cm lesion and many spots. The Jilin City Legal Appraisal Committee concluded that she had tubercular lesions on her lung and recommended she be bailed out for medical treatment.

After she was returned to the Center, they reported her case to the Shulan City Court House. The Court House passed her case on to the Shulan City Police Station. The Police Station tried everything to cover up her situation, saying that she had contracted the illness at home, before entering the Detention Center, so that the contagious period was over. On August 11, 2004, Sun Guangyu and Zhang Yunjing brought her to the Department of Infectious Disease at Shulan City Hospital. The doctor there found that Song Bing had old spots that had healed, so no treatment was needed, and declared, "This diagnosis is based on scientific evidence." But the X-ray photo actually showed a large lesion and spots. When questioned about this observation, the doctor claimed it had nothing to do with him, and he do not know anything. His behavior was very strange, and he quickly issued his diagnosis. Shulan City Hospital does not have a Department for Tuberculosis and does not have pulmonary specialists. Their doctors are not qualified to diagnose tuberculosis patients, as the State has clear regulations that all tuberculosis patients must be treated in Tuberculosis Clinics.

That evening after returning to No.19 Cell in the Detention Center, Song Bing asked to look at her two CT scans. She saw that the lesion had grown from 3 x 3.6 to 3.4 x 3.6 cm, and the infected area had also increased, which was inconsistent with the doctor's report of "Old Healed Spots."

Song Bing knew that she was in critical condition, because she could feel that her health was deteriorating rapidly. She knew the doctors were lying to her about her condition, telling her she was suffering with a lung problem rather than tuberculosis. Song Bing passed out three times on the morning of August 12, her heartbeat was very faint, and her arms and legs extremely painful. She has not been able to take care of herself since. Deputy Director Sun hurried to see the doctor. Fearful of having to take responsibility for Song Bing's life threatening situation, the doctor changed his diagnosis to TB, admitting that diagnosing "Old Healed Spots" was wrong.

Ms. Song does not dare to sleep now, because she loses consciousness as soon as she closes her eyes. On August 19, 2004, she went for an examination at the Shulan City Tuberculosis Clinic. The infected area was as big as an egg. The doctor said she is not only suffering from lung disease, but also has stomach disease and heart disease. She could die any second! They recommended she be treated in a special hospital to avoid have her infect the people around her when she coughs up blood.

She needs to be isolated immediately, but the Shulan City Detention Center police do not care. They hide her situation and keep her detained there. Without treatment, Song Bing could die any minute!

Many Falun Dafa practitioners have already been tortured to death in the custody of the Shulan City Detention Center. Ms. Kong Fanrong was killed there on May 11, 2003, and Mr. Tong Zhentian was stripped of his clothes in the freezing winter, drenched with more than 100 buckets of cold water, and brutally beaten. He died there on July 4, 2001.

(Clearwisdom.net) Since 2003, Beijing City's "610 Office" and police stations arrested many older Falun Gong practitioners. In the past, many of them had various diseases, many of which were serious or life threatening. However, since practicing Falun Dafa their health conditions had either been greatly improved or even completely healed. The corrupt police sent these practitioners to detention centers and then to forced labor camps.

While the policemen and officials from Beijing's "610 Office" saw the older practitioners as burdens, nonetheless they didn't hold back in persecuting them. At the Chaoyang Detention Center, several older practitioners have been sent to the dispatch center three times and sent back for health reasons each time. There was a 58-year-old woman who had hemiplegia (partial paralysis), could not move freely and had constipation. The police did not give her rice, rather, every day they only gave her corn soup with a little salt. She was only allowed to use "the ditch" to relieve herself. (The lavatory ¨C 'the ditch'- is usually a manure pit with two cement boards on top. The two cement boards have a 20cm (8 inches) gap between them, and the setup looks like a ditch in the ground. It is usually very dirty.)

Practitioners sent to forced labor camps usually first went through "intensive training" in the dispatch center first. College students often visited the women's labor camp, and occasionally foreigners came. The courtyard looks like a garden; when visitors came, there would be music playing in the courtyard. People who were detained for forced labor would be gathered together in the conference hall, watching TV. Nobody would know that it was a show staged by camp authorities for the purpose of deceiving people into thinking conditions were good there.

Many Falun Gong practitioners have been physically and mentally tortured there. There is no Sunday in a labor camp: As long as work orders arrived, they had to work from the early morning into the evening, just before bedtime. Many people suffered loss of eye-sight, chronic neck pain, and tendon inflammation. Steadfast practitioners would be surrounded by drug addicts and kept away from other people. They were 'punished' by being made to stand in a fixed position for over 20 hours and were given just one piece of cornbread per meal. If a practitioner did not give up her belief after several months, she would be sent to the so-called "Intensive Assault Unit".

In the "Intensive Assault Unit", as early as 3 or 4 a.m. the sounds of beatings and cries could be heard. One could feel the terror in the air. A drug addict who had been to the labor camp four times boasted, "I've been in the Intensive Assault Unit. There was a Falun Gong [practitioner] who endured a lot. She was not allowed to sleep for 9 days straight. As soon as she closed her eyes, we would beat her." The police simply ordered those criminals to brutally torture Falun Gong practitioners. A police officer named Xu from the Intensive Assault Unit said publicly, "Forced labor re-education is an administrative measure to forcibly transform people. If you refused to be transformed, we will have to force you to transform."

(Clearwisdom.net) Forty-three-year-old Mrs. Li Xiaojie is the wife of Mr. Zhang Dehui, a Falun Gong practitioner from Taoshan District, Qitaihe City, Heilongjiang Province. The following are the details of the persecution that their family was subjected to between July 2000 and August 2004.

Except for Mrs. Li, all the other members of the family practice Falun Dafa, including her husband Zhang Dehui, her parents-in-law, her older brother-in-law Zhang Deming and his wife, her other brother-in-law Zhang Decai and his wife. In July 2000, all those in the family who practiced Falun Dafa were arrested. Li Xiajie went everywhere and endured all sorts of insults and accusations in order to rescue her family members. She eventually was able to get them all released. Her father-in-law had suffered enormous emotional trauma and as a result he died soon after he got out of detention.

In spring 2003, several plainclothes policemen broke into Li Xiaojie's house and arrested her husband without presenting any arrest warrant. Li Xiaojie tried to stop them and was subjected to brutal beatings. She and her husband were dragged to the police station, where Mr. Zhang was severely tortured. Due to the torture, one of his lumbar vertebrae was dislocated, and he could not walk normally. Zhang's two brothers and their wives were forced to leave home. The intense emotional shock and lack of parental care led to the death of her second brother-in-law's son at the age of 21. Her husband Zhang Dehui was sentenced to two years in prison. The only relatives left at home Li Xiaojie and their two children. Li Xiaojie's four-year-old daughter, Zhang Jing, always cried and wanted her father.

In May 2004, Li Xiaojie brought little Zhang Jing to visit her father in the prison. As soon as they entered the prison gate Zhang Jing started to shout, "I want my daddy!" However, she was shocked speechless when she saw her father. His eyes were bruised, he held his hands to his chest and had difficulty breathing. With the strong request of family members, he was examined in a hospital and diagnosed as suffering injured rib bones.

On August 23, 2004, without any reason or legal document the police arrested Li Xiaojie at a motel. The next day, the police searched her home without justification and took her bank book, which is required in China to make transactions at one's bank. Li Xiaojie is still detained and her current situation is unknown. When her father went to the police station asking for his daughter the police involved in the case told him, "She will be released in few days if you pay some money." The lawless policemen from Qitaihe Police Bureau have extorted tens of thousands of yuan from the family members of Falun Dafa practitioners and pocketed the money.

It is not currently known where Li Xiaojie's two children are. The corrupt policemen are still searching for Li Xiaojie's son, Zhang Qiang.

The persecution that Li Xiaojie was subjected to is merely a drop in the ocean. To prevent such a tragedy from happening again and to prevent the forced separation of parents and children, we appeal to all people in the world to raise your voices of justice and helping hands, to expose the wrongdoings, and end the persecution.

(Clearwisdom.net) My name is Wang Shuzhen and I used to work in Jilin prison. I started practicing Falun Gong in 1994. Having benefited so much from the practice, I went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong on October 1, 2000. I witnessed the Jiang regime's bloody genocide of those that practice "Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance." For my appeal, I was sentenced to two years of labor camp and fired from my job. Because I had attachments, my persecutors temporarily led me astray with deceitful brainwashing tactics. From the detention center in Beijing to the labor camp in Jilin, fellow practitioners and I endured endless mental and physical abuse. The following are some of my experiences.

I started practicing Falun Gong in 1994. At that time, I studied the books by myself and didn't go to a practice site. I followed Teacher's requirement of "Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance," and cultivated my xinxing (character). Two years later, I learned the movements from the instruction videotape and my illnesses disappeared. I cultivated my xinxing and truly experienced the miracles of cultivating Falun Dafa.

My coworkers were all old school friends and neighbors, and they knew me well. I had been a weak person since I was young. I had anemia and rheumatism. My nose was broken when I was young so I often suffered nosebleeds. Since practicing Falun Gong, all these symptoms disappeared and I was worry-free. I felt relaxed after practicing every day. I was happy every day, as if I had endless strength.

Our company had a spring games meet in 1999. My employer, without my consent, signed me up for various competitions: the 100-meter, 200-meter, 400-meter and 800-meter dashes, as well as four laps of the 800-meter relay. Most of my matches were squeezed into one day. In addition, I still had to find time to finish my work shift. I got second and third places in all the competitions. During the 800-meter relay, I started about 20 meters behind the 6^th place runner. As soon as I got the baton I dashed all the way to third place. I brought glory to my unit. I was third place on average. Our unit received about 30 points. Of these points, over 20 points belonged to me. The unit leader said to me, "Shuzhen, I just discovered that you are incredible." I replied, "Let me tell you, it is all because of Falun Gong that I am so healthy and energetic now." He patted my shoulder and said, "Keep it up!"

Since I started practicing Falun Gong, I have given up a lot of my old habits, such as smoking, drinking, gambling, drugs, etc. I felt peaceful and full of strength everyday. I could focus on my life and work. I witnessed my coworkers and neighbors as they were consumed by emotional attachments, family matters, physical sickness, as well as the negative impact various bad habits are having on people and our human society, and how this has created various family tragedies for people. I talked to them about "Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance" and taught them how to treat others with tolerance, and how to change themselves from within. I taught them how to give without asking in return, and how to be kind and brave. Even some of my neighbors who used to drink excessively, who made trouble or beat their wives and parents, were changed and quit drinking and gambling. Some of the families that were facing divorce became harmonized, and learned how to love each other. Even addicts in the labor camp found themselves giving up drugs.

Falun Dafa can eradicate various attachments and correct all human notions. Practitioners can bring virtue to human society as well as stabilize society, and bring prestige to the nation. It's good for people and has no bad effects. We genuinely put our nation and fellow citizens' before ourselves. All nations should promote Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance. Falun Dafa is great.

During this economic boom in China, what we need the most of is virtue. The appearance of Falun Gong and Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance is a great blessing for China. But Jiang reversed black and white and fooled the innocent with lies. He has used punishment by implication and suppressed innocent people. He has used money and power as well as human sympathy to force others to commit crimes, betraying their own virtue and consciences. He has fanned hatred among the people. The practitioners want to save people from the lies and be responsible to the nation and to their fellow human beings. They have continuously safeguarded the innocent and their freedom to be virtuous. They want to have kind people know the truth, value life, tell right from wrong, and witness this period of history with righteous thoughts.

In July of 1999, Jiang was jealous of Falun Gong's popularity and mobilized the nation's propaganda machine to create one-sided news, intentionally framing Falun Gong and stripping practitioners of their freedom to practice. We were stripped of our basic human rights, the right to work and to live. Government workers were especially targeted. We were told to choose between our jobs and the practice, and to write Guarantee Statements and sign contracts that said we would not practice.

Those in charge of brainwashing me were political commissar Liu, Secretary Pan Rongbin, human affairs department director Jian Shenqing, as well as motivation director Liu Zhenyu. They talked to me everyday continuously. Pan and Jian came to my house everyday to "reform" me. Pan said, "If you don't reform I will live and have meals in your house." I did not understand why we could not practice Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance. Were we supposed to reform into people who were deceitful, hateful and vengeful?

At that time, the persecution was so intense it was like the sky was falling down on us. Our Teacher and Falun Dafa were framed. I benefited from Falun Dafa and I knew the truth. I could not betray my conscience for my own self-interest. I decided to appeal, clarify the truth of Falun Gong and defend the good reputation of Teacher and Falun Dafa. On October 1, 1999, I took time off work and went to the Changchun Appeals Office. The appeals office had become a place where practitioners were often apprehended. Jiang eliminated all the appeals offices as well as the media, and changed them into propaganda machines that displayed a false kindness. The Ministry of Justice never observes any laws when they deal with practitioners. We have no audience or courts to bring our cases to.

The one-sided lies and propaganda, the arbitrary distortion of the truth, and the ugliness and deceitfulness escalated continuously. The brainwashing programs were relentless. It seriously disturbed my family and my life. Various government agents threatened me, saying that if I refused to "reform" they would not let my husband or my sister continue to work. On September 27, 2000, the unit leader came to talk to me and said, "A human affairs director from some unit went to Beijing and held up a banner by himself. Now don't you be stupid and do the same." Political commissar Liu went to the company and talked to me, saying that he wished that I would cooperate with him and not make any trouble for him. He said, "The Central Government does not allow government workers to practice Falun Gong. You must give it up, and you must write the contract and Guarantee Statement to renounce the practice. You have to choose between your job and the practice."

I said, "Even if you laid me off or fired me, or sentenced me to death, I would continue the practice and never give it up." Liu replied that he would give me time to think it over and warned, "We have to carry out the Central Government's decisions." When I returned home, there was nothing but foolish dramas on television that framed Falun Gong and fabricated lies against it. This furthered my decision to make an appeal. I bought a train ticket to Beijing that afternoon. On the second day, I wrote a letter to my husband while he was at work, saying that I had to leave home, and for him not to go looking for me. I knew deep down, that during this period of lies, one needs the courage to tell the truth and pay a certain price. After I got into the train, the police arrested about six or seven practitioners in the same car. Some policemen started cursing Teacher and Falun Dafa as soon as they boarded the train, and several practitioners were arrested when they tried to stop the policemen from saying such things. Some of the policemen forced the passengers to curse Teacher and Falun Dafa, and if anyone refused, the police would arrest them.

A train officer came to me and said, "I can tell that you are a practitioner." He wanted to see a letter from my employer and an ID. I told him that I did not have it. He said, "Do you have any witness?"

I replied, "Chinese law never requires people to carry an ID when traveling, a letter from one's employer or a traveling companion."

Later, another train officer came to force me to curse Teacher. I said, "I never cursed anyone in my life. Now a policeman is telling me to curse? What kind of a world do we live in?"

I held back my tears, closed my eyes and stopped talking. The train officer came over and shouted, "No sleeping." I went to the restroom, and he stayed outside and waited. When I returned to my seat, two train officers came over to check my ticket, but took it away instead, and said that I had to get off the train and have a talk. Another train officer asked, "Why are you crying?" I saw that their leader looked like my great uncle who just passed away. So I said, "I just came back from a funeral. You can't treat me like this." Hearing this, they gave me back my ticket and left. I finally arrived in Beijing.

In various hotels and motels in Beijing, signs reading, "Falun Gong not allowed" were posted in front. It was October 1, 2000, the national annual celebration of the Communist Party. I was on the outskirts of Tiananmen Square. Around 2 a.m. I followed a group of people who were going to see the flag raising ceremony in the square. I didn't see any familiar faces. I hadn't eaten anything in two days, and felt very tired. I found a corner and sat down.

(Clearwisdom.net) Recently my son and I visited Shanghai, and we found elementary schools in Shanghai forcing students to search for anti-Falun Gong materials on the Internet, effectively instilling young hearts with lies and hatred.

I returned to Shanghai amidst the hottest days of August, and when I visited several friends' homes in Xuhui District, I discovered that all of their children were sweating in frustration while rushing to complete summer homework assigned by their teachers. I picked an assignment up to find that 20 out of the 40 questions involved anti-Falun Gong subjects, and the children were evidently having a hard time answering those 20 questions. Clearly the topics were beyond the children's understanding, and so they resorted to looking up anti-Falun Gong materials published by the government. Some children even had to search for answers on Internet, and by the summer's end, they will all have become victims of the anti-Falun Gong education.

For those of us living overseas, the unilateral propaganda intended for adults already seems very unfair, yet adults can at least form relatively independent judgments based on their acquired knowledge over the years and are not so easily deceived. Such indoctrination of children, however, is simply an immoral crime.

Also, through conversations with my friends in Shanghai, I came to realize that most people there do not seem to know the situation of Falun Gong overseas. Moreover, Shanghai does not have many active Falun Gong practitioners in comparison to other Chinese cities, and the anti-Falun Gong measures in Shanghai are exceptionally stringent.

First, there is an overwhelming amount of propaganda inundating the populace. Even people who would rather not hear it are forced to listen, and there is a particularly stringent policy for what students are taught both in and out of the classroom. Because the minds of children are so simple and pure, they are easily influenced by such negative propaganda.

Another problem in Shanghai is the strictness of the residency management. Even a relative from overseas living in a building temporarily will not escape the knowledge of the administrators, and his or her every move would then be under surveillance. There are also the buildings' guards, who know exactly the frequency of visitors and gatherings at every residence.

Shanghai is the gate China opens to the world, yet the anti-Falun Gong education its citizens receive from the city government alienates them from the rest of the world.

Furthermore, Shanghai and other southern cities with growing economies are in some ways the only windows through which foreigners view China, and this limitation could cause uninformed foreigners to fail to understand the persecution of Falun Gong in China. In other words, the more a Chinese city's economy matures, the more representative, important, and influential the city becomes.

With Shanghai's highly developed economy, the government can take advantage of the fact that its citizens are accustomed to comfortable lives and afraid of trouble to prevent them from persevering to learn the truth about Falun Gong. Many simply choose to distance themselves from any and all involvement with Falun Gong, thinking it will make their lives in today's China easier.

I traveled to several cities while in China, and I found that my friends in northern cities were more open on the topic of Falun Gong. They would listen to my explanations on Falun Gong overseas, and they already knew quite a lot about the truth of Falun Gong. However, in Shanghai and other southern cities, most of my friends were either not interested or not willing to converse on the subject of Falun Gong.

Friends who are interested should consider getting together to discuss some good ways to clarify the truth about Falun Gong and the persecution to people in Shanghai.

(Clearwisdom.net) A Falun Gong practitioner, whom we will refer to as Cee, lives in a small town in Liaoning, China, and runs a privately owned business. His wife also practices.

Before he started to practice, Cee often fought with his wife. However, after he started to practice Falun Gong, Cee and his wife no longer fought and his business also improved. Cee's home grew more harmonious and became a local exercise site and a place for practitioners to gather to study the principles of Falun Dafa. After Cee started to practice Falun Gong, he no longer avoided or tried to dodge paying his taxes at the local tax bureau. In fact, he started to pay his taxes on his own initiative. The government employee at the tax bureau was very appreciative of Cee's efforts and said to him, "You can stop paying taxes for two months while you are still working." When the time came for the next installment of tax payments, Cee handed over the money due to the tax bureau. The tax official was extremely surprised. Cee said, "Thank you for your offer to try and help me. But I practice Falun Dafa, and my Teacher (1) teaches us that we should always hold ourselves to the standard of 'Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance.' I cannot avoid paying taxes for my country. " Although the tax bureau employee did not say anything at that time, later he commented, "We should all learn from Falun Gong practitioners."

After the persecution of Falun Gong began on July 20, 1999, Cee was detained and abducted to a brainwashing center on several occasions. Although Cee and his wife were persecuted, they still insisted on following "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance." In spite of being illegally detained and sent to the brainwashing center, they still paid their taxes to the tax bureau. In order to commend and encourage the owners of privately owned business to pay their taxes, the tax bureau decided to reward those who made outstanding efforts towards paying their taxes. Those who met the standard would have their taxes remitted for one year. The director of the tax bureau found Cee and said, "We want to reward you for meeting the standard from our area." Cee said, "Thank you for your thoughts, but we practice Falun Gong and we wish to pay our taxes that we owe and contribute towards our country. You can offer this to someone else." The director of the tax bureau said, "You have been practicing Falun Gong over the past years, which has meant a lot of suffering because of the persecution. You should accept this honor!"

(Clearwisdom.net) A person's single thought towards Dafa had a direct influence on the future of his life.

On the fifth year of my abduction into the labor camp, I secretly told a young drug addict who had been kind to me, "Today is Teacher's birthday and it is also World Falun Dafa Day." After he heard that, he replied offhandedly, "Happy birthday to your Teacher! I also wish that all Falun Dafa practitioners can leave this terrible place as soon as possible, because all of you are good people!"

I was very pleased hearing this because his attitude had laid the foundation for his future. Since then, I tried my best to provide opportunities for him to obtain the Fa during the rare and limited occasions that I could talk to him.

First, I started our dialogue on culture. A few days later I tried to tell him my understandings about Gods, Buddhas, Daos, fruit status, why sentient beings should cultivate, as well as the relationship between religion and Dafa.

I explained to him why there is often a wan (swastika) symbol on the chest of a Buddha statue, and the meaning of the symbol. I told him that this was the symbol of a Buddha's level. A Buddha has the wan symbol only after reaching the level and fruit status of a Tathagata Buddha. Of course, the higher they attain, the more wan symbols they will possess, obtaining two, three or even more.

Interestingly, after a day or two, he actually saw a Buddha who had a wan symbol on his arm, and another grand Buddha who had a wan symbol on his middle finger. I felt that I had a very significant responsibility to him since he could see such sacred and marvelous sights. I started explaining to him the relationship between the wan symbol and fruit status in more detail, and he felt quite surprised after he listened to me.

After another 2-3 days had passed, he saw a frightening scene. There was a human figure above and in front of him, dressed in contemporary attire. There were four dragons coiled around the figure's body. The figure pointed to him and said solemnly, "You cannot be forgiven!" He was really worried because that figure appeared to be just like him. When he told me about this experience, I knew that that figure was his Assistant Spirit.

I then explained to him the relationship between the Main Spirit and the Assistant Spirit, as well as human anatomy. I told him, "Your Main Spirit originally came down here to cultivate. But you not only failed to cultivate, you used drugs to poison yourself. That was why that figure told you he could not forgive you. However, what is done is done. You must strive to do better and must never use drugs again." I elaborated further on the value and meaning of life. I told him that the best choice was to practice Falun Dafa, to right the wrongs, and re-establish his predestined relationship.

During the next few days, he went into a deep and long self-rumination. How could a delinquent drug addict, full of sins like him, hear the voice of Dafa? Why could he see sights that ordinary people could not see, even things at such high levels and so much of it? In these few days, I also mentioned to him about cultivation and predestined relationships. However, he was still not sure after I spoke with him.

After a few days passed he quietly told me that he finally understood it all, and he told me what he had experienced. One day, while he had been working with full attention on his job assigned to him by the labor camp, he suddenly heard a very clear voice. It was the voice of his Assistant Spirit. The voice told him, "The purpose of letting you know so much was to let you obtain the Dafa."

Even though I wished that he would study the Fa and obtain the Fa, as well as told him the notion of "One could die in the evening, without fear after obtaining the Dao in the morning," there were no Dafa books in the labor camp and the environment there was very bad. He thought it would be better to start practicing after he got out of the labor camp. After this encounter, he started to have the real intention to study the Fa and start cultivating.

I recited some articles of Teacher's such as "Lun Yu" and "Enlightenment." Later, I recited some shorter articles and poems from "Hongyin." The way he studied the Fa was word for word. Each word of the Fa would appear floating in front of his forehead, and they appeared three dimensional in large sizes.

He saw another scene one day. Two or three god-like figures in other dimensions told him compassionately, "You finally came back!"

Since the labor camp strictly prohibited practicing the exercises, I recited the formula for all five sets of exercises, one set at a time, and insisted that he memorize them. It would only be complete when cultivation and practice are combined. Later, I went out of my way to get a piece of scrap paper. I had been forbidden from carrying paper and pen and they arranged a 24-hour surveillance on me with several shifts each day. I could not speak with others. Anyone who spoke to me, or listened to me talking in the labor camp, was in danger.

In order for him to further understand Falun Gong, I embroidered a Falun symbol on the paper with a sewing needle, and explained to him about the structure of Falun and the meaning it represented. After a while, he saw another Buddha. A giant Falun stood behind the Buddha. The Falun was colorful and rotating. He also sensed that somewhere inside his body there was something turning. I told him it was Falun adjusting his body. Sometimes he experienced the whole body being warmed up. He sneezed a lot during the day, but the sneezing stopped during every evening, so that he could sleep without problems. It was like this for several days. All such symptoms were often associated with new practitioners. I congratulated him on his obtaining the real Dafa, a chance that came but once in a millennium. I treated him as a new practitioner from then on, and I recited articles that I could remember, since we did not have books.

When he was trying to memorize the formula for the third exercise with full attention, he told me that he felt as if he was floating in space with a blue sky and white clouds. The air was so refreshing. Later, I showed him how to Send Forth Righteous Thoughts. After he recited the formula, he could feel that several beings flew away from his body, then combined together to form a single entity, before charging off to eradicate the evil.

One day he told me that he could see that there was a white light in front of his forehead. It appeared like the sun or the moon. In fact it was Master opening his celestial eye, and he felt exactly like what the book (Zhuan Falun) described. At noon on another day, he felt a hot current flowing down from the top of his head. It was so warm that his spirit was uplifted as well. He did not know what it was all about until I told him that it was Guanding, where Master was cleansing his body. He also felt that his body was unfathomably huge, as though the earth was a tiny star in front of his eyes.

Overall, all the encounters and experiences could only happen to a Falun Dafa practitioner. Because there was no book for him to read, he always came to ask me whenever he experienced something new. I would recite from my memory. Usually he went from one encounter to another quite fast. I knew he had already obtained the Dao and was cultivating diligently. I told him that his cultivation was in the semi-enlightened state. It was quite possible that Master arranged for him to cultivate in this way in such a hideous environment, during this special historical period. It was arranged to strengthen his resolve and to encourage his dedication. I repeatedly told him to pay attention to certain issues while cultivating semi-enlightened to prevent interference, and to strive forward diligently.

Later, he mentioned to me that he was very content and happy learning so many principles. If he would die right then, he had pretty much nothing to regret or fear. His only regret would be that he had still had not read the Fa of the cosmos in its completeness and his understanding about Dafa was still rather limited. He stated that he would cultivate all the way and command himself rigorously according to the Fa that he knew. He would find Dafa practitioners once he got out of the labor camp.

In a short span of two months, he stopped smoking and arguing with others. He became more peaceful and was at ease. Even people around him felt surprised by his transformation. He also quietly mentioned to others that Falun Gong was good, and Falun Gong taught people to be more compassionate.

This was how a delinquent young man broke away from drugs and how a kindhearted life was saved. After his Buddha nature was awakened, he joined the great path of cultivation and started saving other sentient beings in this crooked and mutated environment. I personally witnessed his transformational development and I was overjoyed for him.

Story 1:

Practitioner A of Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province quit her Falun Gong practice after the illegal persecution started in 1999. One day she went to see a doctor because of her high blood pressure. She told the doctor that she had not needed to take any medication for over six years, but now the problem had come back, so she had to come to the hospital. The doctor asked her right away why she didn't have to take any medication, and she said she used to practice qigong. The doctor asked her if it was Falun Gong. She said yes. The doctor then said: "You didn't need any medicine in the past six years because of your practice of Falun Gong. Why don't you hurry up and resume your practice?

Story 2:

A senior citizen suffering from diabetes in Guangzhou, a city in southern China, knows practitioner B. B explained to her the truth about Falun Gong quite often. B also gave her Falun Gong books and cassette tapes to listen to. The elderly woman took good care of the books and listened to the tapes over and over. In the beginning, she was too sick to walk and had been hospitalized for a long time. Her doctor commented that she was unlikely to recover. However, this elderly lady has now been discharged and can walk with a cane. Her doctor is very surprised and said that the she must have accumulated a lot of virtue in her past lives, otherwise, such a miracle could not have happened.

(Clearwisdom.net) While the 59^th United Nations General Assembly convened in New York September 20 to September 24, practitioners from all over the world gathered to demonstrate the peace and beauty of Falun Dafa and raise awareness of the persecution in China.

Practitioners' activities included press conferences, anti-torture exhibitions, participating in local fairs, showing truth-clarification videos, informational poster displays, distributing flyers, and forming a "Great Wall of Courage". Practitioners from Taiwan, Hong Kong, Australia, Singapore, New Zealand, Japan, Canada and many European countries as well as practitioners from across the U.S. participated in these activities. Many of the practitioners, including young mothers and their babies, came a long way to clarify the truth about Falun Gong and the persecution to the people of New York.

Practitioners from Australia and Taiwan were clarifying the truth at the intersection of 42^nd Street and Broadway as well as on 7^th Avenue. They related two stories about their experiences there:

A couple from Sydney, Australia told the practitioners, "We have seen you in Sydney." The practitioners from Sydney then told them: "To end Jiang's and his followers' persecution of Falun Gong as soon as possible, we have come here to tell people about the persecution." After listening to practitioners' explanation, the couple was very touched. They thanked us repeatedly and wished us success.

One day, when the truth-clarifying activities were about to adjourn, a person came to the intersection of 42^nd Street and 7^th Avenue where the Taiwanese practitioners were. He said that he came to learn the Falun Gong exercises. He told the practitioners that he obtained a Falun Gong flyer two weeks ago from a Los Angeles practitioner. He then started to learn Falun Gong by simply following the pictures on the flier. He thus only knew two of the movements from Exercise One. Nevertheless, he felt the strong energy flow when he did the two movements. Therefore, he had been practicing them for two weeks.

As the Taiwanese practitioners didn't know how to teach him in English, I went forward to teach him and thus got the opportunity to chat with him. He was very dedicated while learning, and carefully drew every move of the exercises in his notebook. He was a little embarrassed and told me that those were just drafts and he would draw them again more carefully at home.

I gave him a flyer with New York contact information and told him where he could learn the Falun Gong exercises. I also asked for his phone number as I wanted to know his progress. I can tell that he is a very honest and kind man who really wants to learn Falun Gong. I wish him well.

We also encountered many other people who wanted to learn and we told them one by one where they could find practice sites. It is just as Master told us, the next generation of practitioners is now coming to Dafa.

In the afternoon of September 19, a practitioner was drawing the Chinese characters, "Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance is Good" with a Chinese brush pen at the anti-torture exhibition site on 5^th Avenue. A middle-aged gentleman was completely absorbed by his calligraphy. Later, I found out that he lived nearby and just happened to pass by the exhibition site. He was attracted by the three Chinese characters for "Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance" and asked if he could get those three characters. It happened that one of our practitioners was a calligrapher and was present at the site. The man, a Westerner, then went home and soon came back with rice paper and a brush pen. He sincerely asked the practitioner to write down the three characters for him. When we asked his name, he pointed to our petition book and said: "My name is there, I already signed. He told us his name and that he had fallen in love with calligraphy 6 years ago. He now can read more than 150 Chinese characters. He said that he would learn the three characters for "Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance" once he got home. The gentleman was very grateful for our practitioner's selfless help and wanted to give him $10 as appreciation. The practitioner said: "We like to make friends with people who respect the principle of 'Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance.' Falun Gong practitioners don't charge for anything, we always help people voluntarily." The man was deeply moved and shook hands with our practitioner repeatedly.

(Clearwisdom.net) On September 21 and 22, 2004, Falun Gong practitioners from England and Wales held an anti-torture exhibition outside the conference hall in Bournemouth where the annual Liberal Democrat Party Conference was being held. Party conferences, which are attended by virtually all MPs, are a valuable opportunity for them to learn the facts about Falun Dafa, through first-hand contact with practitioners.

A practitioner in realistic make-up demonstrated "confinement in a small cage," one of the methods of torture widely used in Chinese prisons and labor camps to force Falun Gong practitioners to give up their belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. At the same time, other practitioners demonstrated the peaceful Falun Gong exercises, gathered signatures for our petition to "Bring Jiang to Justice," and talked at length with conference delegates and members of the public.

In addition, on the 22nd, the Independent newspaper named our exhibition as the "best protest" in a brief but positive report in their "Conference Highlights" section. The police were very helpful. Practitioners returned home on the 22nd enriched, happy and enthusiastically exchanging experiences.

(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Zhang Cuiying, a renowned artist of traditional Chinese paintings from Sydney, held a press conference on September 16, 2004 in front of the Supreme Court and disclosed her filing of a lawsuit in Supreme Court of New South Wales Australia against the former Chinese leader Jiang Zemin for genocide, torture and crimes against humanity. Ms. Zhang is now a citizen of Australia.

Representatives from the World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong (WOIPFG), Australian Group to Rescue Family Members of Falun Gong Practitioners Persecuted, Australian Association of Legal Assistance for Persecuted Falun Gong Practitioners, Global Coalition to Bring Jiang to Justice Australia Division, and the local Falun Dafa Association were present to support the event.

Ms. Zhang Cuiying narrated her own experience of practicing Falun Dafa. She said she recovered from serious arthritis which had her in a state of near paralysis within two months after beginning to practice Falun Dafa. She could finally continue her career in painting. In 1999, when former Chinese leader Jiang Zemin started to persecute Falun Gong, she went back to China to peacefully appeal for Falun Gong. She was arrested and detained in four prisons for more than eight months in China. During that period, she suffered all kinds of humiliation and torture. She was subjected to unlawful forced labor to manufacture export products, and even thrown into men's cells twice to destroy her human dignity. The guards instigated criminals to beat her so that their prison terms would be reduced. She had to take showers and change clothes under the gaze of male prisoners and guards. During her 50-day hunger strike to protest the inhuman treatment and torture, they beat her, cursed her, pulled her hair, splashed water on her, and used hard objects to hit her. Her life was in extreme danger. Under the effort of her husband Zhou Zhongmin, the Australian Government, and Falun Gong practitioners, Ms. Zhang was released and returned to Australia after being imprisoned for 8 months.

She said that though she is free, hundreds of thousands of practitioners in China are suffering. She wanted to call for justice to other practitioners persecuted.

To stop Jiang faction's persecution of Falun Gong, Ms. Zhang decided to file a lawsuit against Jiang in the Supreme Court. It is the eighth lawsuit that has been filed against Jiang, following cases in the U.S., Belgium, Spain, Taiwan, Germany, South Korea, and Greece.

WOIPFG Australia read a statement in the conference to support the lawsuit.

David Liang, who was shot in the foot when he traveled to South Africa to clarify the truth about the persecution of Falun Gong, gave a speech at the conference. He talked about the incident and exposed Jiang faction's terrorist act overseas.

Xie Yan, a practitioner rescued from China recently, said that she was taken away and imprisoned in forced labor camps for two and half years for distributing a few flyers on the street. She was tortured. She called for kind people to pay attention to and offer help to Falun Gong practitioners, and help end the persecution.

(Clearwisdom.net) My name is Yang Lixin, and I am a male Falun Gong practitioner. In 1998 I started practicing Falun Dafa. Now I am doing post-doctoral work in the highly technical fields of Computer Vision and Information in Belgium.

On August 10, 2004, I went to the Consular Department of the Chinese Embassy in Belgium to renew my soon-to-expire passport. A staff member with the surname "Li" received my case. After handing him my application and all the requested materials including photos and identification, I was told it would take two weeks to process the renewal. On August 23, 2004, I received a phone call from Mr. Li who informed me that, at present, my passport couldn't be renewed and that I needed to pick up my nearly expired passport. On August 24, I went back to the Chinese Consulate Department to ask why they couldn't renew the passport. Mr. Li returned my passport and the photos without any documenting explanation, saying only that they needed to wait for information to arrive from China. Before handing in my materials to the Chinese Consular Department, I had made a special phone call to ask how long the formal procedure of renewing a passport would take. At that time they told me that some materials needed to be prepared and that it would take about two weeks. I asked Mr. Li why the renewal procedure for my passport couldn't be done the same as the formal procedure and why they had to wait for the information from China. I didn't get any formal explanation. When I requested proof that my new passport was being processed, Li refused to comment. When I asked if they were refusing to renew my passport, he again gave no answer. When I asked him what I should do if I was required to show my valid passport, he refused to make a comment.

My life and work are becoming very difficult because of their refusal to renew my passport. They didn't renew my passport because I believe in "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance"; I practice Falun Gong. I mentioned to Mr. Li that he had no right to deprive me of my rights because of my belief. The persecution of Falun Gong is totally wrong. Prior to the persecution, when people cultivated according to "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance" and tried to be good people, the Chinese government was supportive. You shouldn't refuse to renew my passport just because of Jiang Zemin's persecution of Falun Gong. What you have done was illegal back then and is still wrong. The last comment from Mr. Li was that they couldn't make a decision until they had received the information from China. I said to him, "Let the public judge the situation. I don't have any opinion about you personally. If you hadn't persecuted Falun Gong, we might have become friends. However, let me tell you, what you have done is wrong."

When I came to Belgium to study in 1995, I was elected to the position of Vice-President of the Brussels Chinese Students and Scholars Friendship Union. I sincerely served Chinese students, scholars and the overseas Chinese in Belgium. I also provided help for the Chinese Embassy and had very good relationships with the teachers from the Education Department. Meanwhile, as a resident of Belgium, I did my best to help Belgians and Europeans learn about traditional Chinese culture.

Our Teacher tells us that, wherever we are, we all should be good people. Although many Chinese scholars have immigrated to others countries, I always had a wish to go back to China to help out after finishing my studies in Belgium. Since Jiang Zemin started to persecute Falun Gong in 1999, however, the propaganda of hatred toward Falun Gong has extended beyond China's borders and suddenly changed many harmonious relationships. Our Teacher says that when people treat us badly, we cannot treat them badly in return. Through the years of the persecution, I have clarified the facts about Falun Gong to people with compassion and gone to the Chinese Embassy to appeal for Falun Gong peacefully, hoping to stop the persecution.

Having my passport renewal refused has put me in very difficult situations, both in my life and in my work. However, the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners is totally unacceptable according to the standards of international humanitarian societies. On September 2, my university sent a letter to the Chinese Embassy to request that they immediately renew my passport. Amnesty International is also actively helping me.

Brief Resume: In 1985, I was recommended for admission to the Northwest Industrial University and studied in the first experimental class of education reform, which had an excellent reputation for scholarship. I completed the undergraduate courses and got a masters degree in five and half years. In 1989 I earned a Bachelor's degree in Technology and at the beginning of 1991, a Master's degree in Computer Applications with excellent scores. Then I became a teacher and conducted scientific research at the same university, where I was given the title of Excellent Young Teacher and Excellent Teacher in Charge of a Class. For a time I was the Deputy-Director of the Picture Processing, Teaching and Research Office in the Computer Department. Before I came to Belgium, I had earned the title of "lecturer." In 1995, I studied in the Electron Department of the Brussels Freedom University in Belgium and in 1996 earned a Master's degree in Information Technology with great distinction. In 2004, I earned a doctorate in Technology with great distinction. At present, I am engaged in post-doctoral research.

Eugene is the second largest city of Oregon and is famous for its diversity in culture and lifestyle. The annual Eugene Celebration is a grand occasion for local residents to celebrate their many cultures. Practitioners have participated in this event three years in a row.

Accompanied by the music of "Pudu," female practitioners in colorful attire and with lotus flowers in their hands performed traditional Chinese dances along the parade route, while two rows of practitioners in yellow exercise suites demonstrated the first 4 standing exercises of Falun Gong. Meanwhile, through a microphone, a Western practitioner introduced Falun Gong to the spectators. The Falun Gong entry was enjoyed by all.

After the parade, many people came to the Falun Dafa booth and told practitioners their impression: "Your parade entry was wonderful!" They were very happy to accept Falun Gong truth-clarifying materials and listen to the truth about the ongoing persecution in China. Many also left their contact information so that practitioners could send them information about practice sites.

Below are a few stories that took place during this activity:

A local resident told practitioners: "I just came back from New York City, and I saw you people everywhere there."

A woman said: "I often watch your programs on a public TV channel and I know [about the persecution]. At the end of the TV programs, I often practice Falun Gong by following along with the TV." The program she mentioned is the TV series, "Pure Heart, Clear Mind," which is produced by practitioners.

A gentleman who is a teacher in Portland said that he had a student who practices Falun Gong. When he was told that his student participated in the parade earlier in the day, he was very happy.

With Master's great care, the parade was very successful. More than 10,000 spectators and a much larger TV audience witnessed the beauty of Falun Dafa.

(Clearwisdom.net) On September 22, Falun Dafa practitioners from the University of Texas at Austin held an anti-torture exhibition to expose Jiang and his faction's brutal persecution of people who practice Falun Gong. The exhibition shocked the students and faculty members of the university. The university newspaper "The Daily Texan" reported the event. Coincidently, State Assemblyman Mr. Elliott Naishtat visited the campus and watched the anti-torture exhibition. He came over to shake hands with practitioners who were helping set up the exhibit. He thanked practitioners for their selfless effort of telling people the real situation about Falun Gong.

Group after group of people came to watch the exhibition. They were astonished to see the scenes demonstrating what is happening in China, and to learn that what practitioners re-enacted was only a tiny part. Jiang's faction has spared no effort to cover up its furious suppression and killing of Falun Gong practitioners. They broadcast lies and incited hatred for Falun Gong to Chinese people living around the world. Many innocent people were deceived by their lies. When the crimes are completely exposed to the public, all people regardless their race or color will be indignant, because they are crimes against all of humanity.

(Clearwisdom.net) Mid-Autumn is the most ceremonious festival for the Korean people during the year. In order to help Chinese people who come to Korea to work or study to reduce their homesick feelings and to clarify the truth to them more comprehensively and thoroughly, Korean Falun Gong practitioners held a colorful parade and performances in the area of Seoul where most Chinese people reside on September 26, a few days before the Mid-Autumn Festival.

After sending forth righteous thoughts at 1:00 pm, the parade set off from an elementary school. Several practitioners wearing traditional Korean dresses held big posters imprinted with Falun emblem to lead the procession. Following them were a colorful flag troupe, waist drum troupe, and gong and drum troupe. Minghui School students and other Falun Gong practitioners walked behind them and gave various performances while proceeding. Colorful banners with the words, "Falun Dafa is great" and banners showing the worldwide spread of Falun Dafa, as well as lawsuits filed against Jiang were connected to form a long dragon. A pair of golden lions joyfully danced in the procession.

Local citizens along the streets enjoyed the performances. They accepted the truth-clarifying leaflets. At some places, because there were so many spectators that many people had to climb onto the top of the buildings to watch the parade.

There were a number of moving scenes while distributing leaflets along the streets. An 80-year-old grandma was touched to tears upon listening to a practitioner's explanation about Falun Gong and the persecution. She held the practitioner's hands and repeatedly said in Chinese, "I finally meet you, I finally meet you...." Many Chinese people took the initiative to shake practitioners' hands as if seeing family members after a long separation. They carefully listened to practitioners' introduction and truth-clarification. When the parade passed through Chinatown, the crowd of spectators applauded the procession. The scene was quite touching.

During the process of clarifying the facts, more people accepted leaflets and were willing to listen to practitioners' explanations. We realized that the knowing sides of people are longing for the truth.

The parade lasted for 3 hours and concluded around 4pm.

(Clearwisdom.net) On September 18 and 19, 2004, the Tokyo Asian City Festival 2004 was held in Hibiya Park, Chiyoda-Ku. On the square across from the small music hall, there were booths representing Asian countries and selling food, clothing and handicrafts. A lady running three restaurants in Tokyo had a food booth. In front of her booth, besides table and chairs, she set up a shelf with Falun Gong truth-clarification materials, including literature in Japanese, Chinese, English, and Korean, CDs in Chinese and Japanese, videos, music and color bookmark with introduction of five-set exercises in words and pictures. A TV and CD player played videos clarifying the facts about the staged Tiananmen "self-immolation" incident, the worldwide lawsuits to bring the perpetrators of the persecution to justice, and a few songs performed by practitioners.

A Japanese said, "The non-profit status is good. Where is the practice site near my home?"

The truth-clarification activity was different from previous ones in which almost all practitioners distributed literature. Now, not only did passersby accept the literature, but many people selected it from the shelf without hesitation or worry. Some Japanese people said that the recent registration of the Falun Dafa Association as a non-profit organization was good and that they felt confident in learning more. Some asked about practice sites near their homes. There were also many Chinese people passing-by and watching the TV showing truth-clarification programs.

The two-day Asian City Festival concluded. The booth owner was pleased and thanked the practitioners who came to support the event, "I am very happy that so many people have come to learn the truth. The effect is good through the convenient way of truth-clarification. I am encouraged to do better to let more people know the grace of Dafa."

(Clearwisdom.net) On the 9th and 10th of September, French practitioners traveled to Dijon and set up an information stall to let more people know about the human rights situation in China and to introduce Falun Gong.

Dijon is a big city but many people there know nothing about Falun Gong. They were very concerned, as if they had been waiting for us for a long time. We handed out many more leaflets than we expected. Lots of people wanted to sign our petition and nobody refused our leaflets. They did not know Falun Gong, but news on violations of human rights in China is nothing new to them. We felt that it was important to explain the facts about the brutal persecution initiated by Jiang and his regime against Falun Gong practitioners over the past few years.

After we arrived at our meeting point, we noticed that the street was narrow and it was also partly blocked by scaffolding. However, the problem was solved immediately, because the workers had already begun to remove it, and also they helped us to set up our stall. As all the departments of the city government knew of our arrival, nobody came to check our certificate of permission. The police came several times to get some information on Falun Gong. We were kept very busy talking to the Dijon people. Then we began to think of how we could find a way to say thank you to the city government officials for providing us with this opportunity to talk with the people of Dijon. This would also be a great chance to let the city officials know more about Falun Gong. At that precise moment, a principal from the city government came to our stall, telling us that she was the one who gave us the permission for the activity, and she would like to get more information. We thanked her, and continued to clarify the truth in greater depth.

Lots of people were surprised that we could have a stall for two days, because it was very rare to see such a thing. Over ten people left their contact details in order to learn the exercises in the future. Even the problem of finding a location for a practice site was solved because one person provided a convenient location for us.

(Clearwisdom.net) On the 18th and 19th of September, Belgian Falun Gong practitioners were invited to participate in a Health Expo held in the seaside town of Antwerp.

Our stall was located in a prominent place. Once inside the hall, there was a pub on the right and just opposite was an exhibition platform. Our stall was very near the platform. Practitioners decorated the stall with delicate paper lotus flowers and pictures of Master Li lecturing throughout the world hung up on the wall, telling people of Falun Dafa's beauty and peaceful nature. About once every hour we demonstrated the exercises on an exhibition platform and the beautiful exercise music echoed around the whole hall. During the two days of the Health Expo, lots of people got to learn about Falun Dafa.

I am a Falun Dafa practitioner from Henan Province. Recently, I read the Clearwisdom article "Be Vigilant towards Various Forms of Sabotage Directed by Chinese State Security Agents" (http://www.clearwisdom.net/emh/articles/2004/7/26/50691.html). I think the situations mentioned in this article are not isolated or accidental phenomena but are instead systematic arrangements by Chinese state security agents or "610 Offices," set up to achieve the goal of deceiving everyday people and misleading the public. I'd like to describe some situations that I know about as a reference for fellow practitioners and to let people to know the facts.

In early 2002 I found out that some people were doing a pyramid sales scheme. It was Ma Huizhen of East Railway in Luohe city, who had been released from a certain labor camp in Henan province, along with someone with the last name of Sun, and a few former "Falun Gong practitioners." I didn't pay much attention to it and thought that they were just doing some short-term things like that to earn enough money to live on. Later on I happened to run into Ma Huizhen and the others in a park, and I was surprised when she tried to enlist me in the pyramid sales scheme She also said that she had cultivated to Consummation and didn't need to cultivate any more. At that time I could hardly believe that she, whom I thought had studied and validated Falun Dafa very well, could say something so ridiculous!

Afterwards I got word that the people who did the pyramid sales scheme were getting together to do "male-female dual cultivation" with others who did the same in Zhumadian and other places, and they were detained by the local police. I was surprised when I heard about it! I looked at the facts, thought about it more, and came to better understand what had gone on. I knew that Ma Huizhen had been put through two years of forced labor because of her appeal in 1999, and that she suffered a lot of hardships in the labor camp. She had even been persecuted in a psychiatric hospital, and she became like this after being released.

As discussed in the above referenced article, these are not simple isolated cases: "People who have been brainwashed in forced labor camps spread some things to mislead people to do bad things, creating chaos in society. For example there are those who spread the so-called "Tenth Talk," deceiving those people who have strong attachments of pursuit and for a long period of time have not understood how to study the Fa. Some have arranged pyramid sales schemes, tempting those who have come into contact with Falun Dafa but cannot let go of their attachments to material gain, completely distancing themselves from Falun Dafa. Some have even gone as far as to use cultivation as a false banner, propagating the so-called "male-female dual cultivation" to those who have not let go of the attachments to lust and sexual desire, instigating people to go down an evil path and become tools for the evil to frame and slander Falun Dafa."

It is worth calling attention to one thing. Ma Huzhen' s husband, Wan Fugui, was a former Falun Gong practitioner in Luohe city. After practicing Falun Gong, he miraculously recovered from Hepatitis B (in the late stage, with ascites) and other diseases. For this reason the couple were always two of the most capable practitioners validating Falun Dafa in East Railway of Luohe City. Around October 1999, Wan Fugui was sentenced to three years because of his appeal for Falun Gong. After he was released in 2003, he followed Ma Huizhen's heretical ideas and engaged in the pyramid sales scheme and the so-called "male-female dual cultivation", yet he soon contracted bone cancer. He was hospitalized and died only two months later! During that period, many fellow practitioners went to help them try and understand the Fa but they didn't accept the help.

It is not difficult to come to the conclusion that Falun Dafa truly saves people, and yet the Jiang regime and the lawless State Security Agents and "610 Office" staff are "transforming" good people into bad ones by using various inhuman measures, achieving the goal of injuring and killing others!

(Clearwisdom.net) Through clarifying the truth I have gradually realized that the process of clarifying the truth during Fa-rectification cultivation is the process of extensive elimination of the evil, doing away with the arrangements by the old forces and thoroughly purifying oneself.

Teacher points out when "Teaching the Fa at the 2004 Chicago Conference",

"Clarifying the facts is something you must do, and you must do it to the end. It's not something we do according to the old forces' arrangements; we completely negate everything of the old forces."

The old forces not only made concrete arrangements for each one of us, but also created the environment even at the cost of the lives of sentient beings, testing us to have us reach consummation by their standards. We learned from the Fa that people in today's world all come from very high levels, however, poisoned by the arrangements of the old forces they are in an extremely dangerous plight. The purpose of the old forces is to destroy people who don't meet their standards. This runs counter to ours since our fundamental aim is to save the sentient beings. During the process of clarifying the truth, how much of the poison arranged by the old forces will be eliminated depends on how much the person has understood. When we send forth righteous thoughts we have a very clear target or targets in view. Therefore, the process of our clarifying the truth is to break the arrangement of the old forces and save the sentient beings from the old forces' poison.

Cultivation in the past was passive, but the cultivation of Falun Dafa is up to our own initiative. We are constantly assimilating to the Fa. The reason for us to cultivate among everyday society, according to my understanding, is that we want to maintain contact with people so we can discover and let go of our attachments. If we only passively endure the tribulation whenever it appears, our cultivation would be no different with that of the past. Today, in the evil environment when Falun Dafa practitioners are cruelly tortured and sentient beings are poisoned, silence is actually indulgence of the evil. If we fail to step forward to clarify the truth and make up the losses brought by the persecution, we have actually acknowledged the arrangements of the old forces. We must make use of the best method to assimilate Teacher's Fa at this level. If we can be able to maintain righteous thoughts and righteous actions when clarifying the truth, let go of all our attachments and steadily walk our way to the end, it means we have successfully done away with the arrangements by the old forces and have successfully put the Fa principles at this level into practice.

In the past the universe was selfish, however, we will cultivate to reach Consummation in the righteous Law, with righteous enlightenment. We are taught to consider others before ourselves. If we cultivate according to the arrangements of the old forces, then at the end of the day we are still selfish. How can we enter the new universe? Then how can we get rid of selfishness to enter the realm of selflessness? I think, at the moment, the process of clarifying the truth is the transitional process. In the process of truth-clarification we meet all sorts of people and encounter all kinds of things and dangers. We must look inside ourselves, cultivate ourselves and make sure that our hearts are getting purer and purer in dealing with these things.

The effectiveness of our truth-clarification is not only a test of how well we study and assimilate the Fa, but also a test of how effectively we send righteous thoughts. If we hold our attachments tightly when clarifying the truth it will offset the effectiveness of our truth-clarification and maybe it will also become a loophole that the old forces will take advantage of, so as to put ourselves into a very dangerous situation. When we sum up the experiences and become purer and purer we are eliminating the principles of the old forces, neglecting the arrangement of the old forces, actively assimilating to the Fa, and walking towards selflessness.

(Clearwisdom.net) A woman in her 60's, a practitioner, sent out Falun Dafa truth clarification information all over on the main streets and alleys, to all the workplaces and schools in a certain district in Beijing without let-up for four years. She did this to offer salvation to people. She came from another place and only knew one practitioner in Beijing. Under these conditions it is really difficult to do well. The first problem was that it was difficult to find a source for Falun Dafa truth-information materials. She could only depend on that one practitioner in Beijing who lived far from her. She got only a small quantity of truth handouts each time. She wanted to distribute more but couldn't find any more. She would have liked to ask for additional supplies, but was afraid the other practitioner had difficulty. She felt quite anxious since Beijing is such a big city and so many people were waiting to be offered salvation, but the materials were so lacking. How couldn't she be worried?

Later on, she and another practitioner who also came from a place other than Beijing started to make truth-clarifying materials by themselves. They bought some supplies to write information by hand. They wrote incessantly and sent things out. When their hands became numb and weak from writing, they still felt very happy. Since she had their own source of the truth material, she was able to get seventy, eighty or even over a hundred pages of truth materials each time when she went out. After distributing all the materials she returned safely.

As the course of Fa-rectification rapidly pushed forward, she always said, "Our practitioners in Beijing should keep up with Master's Fa-rectification. We should value this incomparably precious opportunity and be sure to do well the three things that Master asked us to do [study the Fa, explain the facts and send forth righteous thoughts]. To hand-write truth materials is too slow and inefficient, as well as' troublesome. How can this be speeded up to offer salvation to more people?" She then made a decision and bought a small portable printer and copy machine. She learned to operate them herself, step by step, with the manual's instructions. She was so pleased that she looked like a happy child and said, "It's actually very easy!"

From then on, she made truth handouts/flyers by herself and then distributed them. It was so easy that she felt very happy. She was very careful and serious during the printing of the information. She ensured that the content of the flyers came from the Minghui website. She said, "We cannot deviate from the general direction Master pointed us to."

Since she got the two little machines, she never let them rest. The machines ran every day and she distributed what she had produced each day. She did this for four years and walked around as if treading on air. During the lunch break, few people would walk in the hallways and stairways of residential buildings, which was a good opportunity for her to distribute the flyers. For outlying areas around Beijing, she would walk miles to get there and distribute the printed pages. When the distance was far, she would take a bus. She never delayed to go out because of bad weather. In the hot summer she went out in the baking sun. In the cold winter she went out against the bone-chilling, northerly wind. She persisted in distributing the materials in one residential area after another, and in one building after another, without missing a single one. Even though distributing truth materials put her in danger and she was in her sixties, she still persevered in doing so year after a year, and day after a day. It's just as she said, "I'm Master's disciple. What Master tells us to do, I do it. Master tells us to hurry up and offer salvation to sentient beings. Everything here then should be a green light to clarify Falun Dafa truth and save sentient beings. This is the real, true cultivation according to Falun Dafa and taking it as the most important priority!"

One day around noon this spring, when she and a fellow practitioner were distributing truth materials in a small residential building, a woman happened to notice them. The woman then shouted, "Falun Gong practitioners are distributing fliers here. Hurry! Come and arrest them!" The practitioner sent out righteous thoughts and went downstairs from another exit on the third floor. She calmly stepped out the 'door without any hurry. On the way home, the other practitioner asked her, "Were you afraid just now?" She answered honestly, "No, I had no fear. I just thought: I have Master, I have Falun Dafa, and nobody can touch me. I came here to offer you salvation. What I did is the most righteous and best thing."

The practitioner often provided her home-made truth materials for practitioners from other areas, studied the Fa together with them and shared her experiences with them. Fellow practitioners acclaimed, "Auntie, at your age 'you unrelentingly spread the truth and have done it the same way for several years; it's really remarkable!" She always replied, "What I did is not enough! I still have many human attachments and I'm far from the standard Master requested us to achieve ......"

When the practitioners in other areas were interested in how she printed and copied truth materials by herself, she would tell them her story. Under her influence, several practitioners bought portable copying machines and started to make truth materials by themselves, not depending on others' help anymore. We hope such small-scale, family style truth materials printing sites can spring up all over Beijing as soon as possible. Let's truly do as what Master said,

"Dafa disciples, don't forsake the magnificent responsibility that has been bestowed upon you in Fa-rectification, and even less should you disappoint those beings, as you are now their only hope for entering the future. For this reason, all Dafa disciples, students both new and veteran, should get to work and begin comprehensively clarifying the truth. This is especially so for the Dafa disciples in Mainland China: each must come out and clarify the truth, bringing it to every field and valley, mountain and hill, not omitting a single area where there are people." ("Let Go of Human Attachments and Save the World's People") '

(Clearwisdom.net) My entire family, which includes my husband, my son and me, are Falun Dafa practitioners. We have been persecuted such that we have become destitute and homeless in order to avoid near certain illegal arrest were we to return to our home. During the past two years that we have been homeless, we have been gradually maturing in cultivation.

On the day after the Chinese New Year of 2002, Falun Gong practitioners in Changchun City tapped into the cable TV signal to broadcast the truth about the practice and the persecution of Falun Gong to hundreds of thousands of homes in the area. At around one o'clock that next morning, a battle between justice and evil took place at my home in Xiagazabu Village, Jilatu Town, Qianguo County, Songyuan City, Jilin Province. It ended when we used righteous thoughts to stop the evil persecution.

That night, we were awakened by the sudden noise of someone pounding on our door. Through the window, my husband and I saw that six or seven people were outside. They asked us to open the door because they had some urgent issues that needed to be resolved. My husband asked, "What are you doing? What's up?" They said they were from the Jilatu Town Police Station and asked us to open the door before they would talk to us.

I thought, "Several days ago, police had tricked a fellow practitioner from our village into opening the door and had then abducted him. He was finally sentenced to a year in a forced labor camp. They must not take us away because we still want to clarify the truth." (1) So I said, "If you have anything for us, please come back later when it is daylight. Why do you come here in the middle of the night anyway? Are you afraid that others might see you in the light of day?" They said they had an urgent matter to discuss, so they had come immediately, in the middle of the night. I said, "I don't open my door for anyone who comes at night."

The police said, "If you do not open the door, we will have to pry it open." Shortly afterward, we heard the sound of the door being pried open with a steel bar.

I said, "Your devious nonsense doesn't matter, and what my Teacher says does matter. You should not be trying to persecute Falun Dafa practitioners."

When the police realized that we were not going to open the door for them, they called the village mayor and the head of security and asked them to come and persuade us to open the door. When they arrived, I called out to them, "You should not be accompanying them to persecute Falun Dafa practitioners. It is the law of nature that good deeds will be rewarded with good fortune and that misdeeds will be met with retribution."

We sent forth righteous thoughts while we clarified the truth to them for a long time but they still did not leave. One of the police officers asked, "Where is your child?"

"Don't even think about starting with my child," I warned. Then I thought to myself, "They still haven't left even after such a long time. Are my righteous thoughts not pure enough, or is the stature of my mind not right? Don't I do well in validating Falun Dafa?" Immediately, I dismissed these doubts and began shouting from my house, "Fellow villagers and neighbors! Come out and take a look at what's going on! The police have come to persecute Falun Dafa practitioners and take away good people! They are committing a crime! Righteousness will be rewarded with happiness, and wrongdoing with personal catastrophe. Those who persecute good people will be condemned with misfortune."

I shouted it over and over. The police grew panic-stricken and said that my shouting was not permitted. A neighboring Falun Dafa practitioner heard me and informed another practitioner. The two practitioners quickly began informing the other villagers, asking them to come and help dissuade the authorities. Fellow villagers responded by flocking to my home. When the villagers began discussing a plan by which several people could hold each of the police officers while we would then run away, the police felt somewhat threatened and drove the villagers back until they were outside the gate. Then they started to pry the door. At first, we sat on our bed to send forth righteous thoughts while we reasoned with the intruders. When we heard glass breaking, we knew they must have already pried open the door. My husband and I went to the doorway and saw that a policeman was climbing up to our floor. Out of a sense of justice, my husband sternly called out, "I will see who dares to climb up here," causing the policeman to quickly retreat.

The stalemate lasted for nearly three hours. The police used a cell phone to call their superior officer. I remember thinking that it must have been our benevolent Teacher protecting us. Finally, another vehicle drove up to the gate of my house, and four or five people got out. One was a highly placed director of Qianguo County. The police reported to their home office about what happened. They discussed the situation for awhile and then said, "Do you have any relatives living nearby? If so, let them enter your home to have a look and see whether your hands are injured. It is said that those who tapped into the cable TV had hurt their hands in the attempt." I knew that this was just a ruse and that his real purpose was to get us to open the door.

Then another officer asked, "Where is your child?"

Suddenly, I turned to my husband and asked, "Is Teacher giving us a hint? We should awaken our son and ask him to send forth righteous thoughts, shouldn't we?" So my husband woke up my son and asked him to send forth righteous thoughts.

Later, a police officer said, "Okay. Everything is alright because we can see through the window." After looking through the window, they left, crestfallen. My son later said that about three minutes after he had gotten up and began sending forth righteous thoughts, he saw some evil demons in another dimension, jumping and shouting out in the yard. The magic weapon that Teacher gave us, the potent formula for sending forth righteous thoughts, is what eliminated them.

Under the protection of our great, benevolent Teacher, we again broke the arrangement and persecution by the old forces.

In closing, I cite Teacher's words,

"Validate the Fa with reason, clarify the truth with wisdom, spread the Fa and offer people salvation with benevolence--this is establishing the mighty virtue of an enlightened being."

(Clearwisdom.net) When I explained to people the facts about Jiang's persecution of Falun Gong, I often heard people say, "After learning Falun Gong, some people did not even want their families, return home for a long time, or work on their farmland. The government then should be doing this or that." I would say these people jumped to extreme conclusions. For example, if a person has ninety-nine merits and one shortcoming, can you claim this person is bad because of this one shortcoming? If ninety-nine people in a group are doing their jobs well and only one person does not, can you claim the group is not good, simply because one person does not do a good job?

Furthermore, in order to pursue something, there are many people who cannot attend to one thing without losing track of another. They are even too busy to think about their daily life for a while. You could claim that he or she did not balance his or her life, and even claim that he or she went slightly overboard. But would this type of slightly extreme behavior be considered a deadly crime? Should it really be suppressed? Judging from the principles of emotions and in the legal system, would it provide sufficient reason to implement this notorious terrorism policy, "Defame their reputations, bankrupt them financially and destroy them physically," to deal with Falun Gong practitioners?

If a student spends all his time studying assiduously for the college entrance examination, and he or she treats his or her family like strangers, could you claim that he or she does not want his or her parents any more because of devotedly preparing for the college entrance examination? In order to win a contest at the Olympic Games, an athlete has to dedicate his or her body and mind for several months, even several years in a row to the intensive training and is too busy to think about parents and leading a comfortable life. Should people hate him or her?

Under the current situation, Falun Gong practitioners are arduously resisting the persecution. Many are forced to lose their normal family lifestyle and their work, simply because they have been persisting in telling the truth. If there were no such persecution, these practitioners would lead a very peaceful and tranquil life - getting up early every day to practice the Falun Gong exercises in a park, going to work during the day, and diligently studying the Fa in the evening. The persecution has deprived these people of all of these rights. The criminal culprit who initiated this persecution is Jiang Zemin!

In my view, I want to present here some reasons for people coming to the wrong conclusion:

1. They do not know what Falun Gong is and are unable to tell good from bad and to tell true from false, because they are temporarily deceived by the lying propaganda;

2. They do not know the details of the persecution and just repeat others' opinions. They attribute things to Falun Gong, even for things that are not related to Falun Gong;

3.They cannot discern between fleeing for personal reasons and fleeing as a result of governmental persecution.

"You can do any normal job of the common people. A practitioner can be a good person in any life situation and doing any type of work. As a practitioner, you have to be an ethical person in any place and environment. As a practitioner, it is definitely your problem if you cannot behave and conduct yourself well. If you cannot do that, then you do not strictly conduct yourself as a practitioner. If your boss hires you and you have not completed the job, or you are a student and you have not completed the assignments and have not attended and listened to the class, then could you insist that you are a good person? A good person should be a good person in any environment. If you are a student you should study diligently, and if you are an employee you should complete your work." According to the requirements of Falun Gong, if you are a farmer, you have to do good work on your farmland. If you have a family, how can you not be responsible for the family? Only when a person truly acts according to the requirements of Falun Gong, can he or she be considered a practitioner who truly studies Falun Gong.

(3) After July 20, 1999, Jiang started the persecution against Falun Gong practitioners and tried to force them to give up their belief in "Truth, Compassion and Forbearance." If they do not give up the belief, they will be arrested, be jailed, be sent to a forced labor camp and be convicted. Faced with such conditions, some Falun Gong practitioners chose to leave their home to avoid the persecution. This situation is a result of Jiang's persecution. The person to be blamed and condemned should be Jiang rather than Falun Gong practitioners. It is not wrong to follow the requirements of "Truth, Compassion and Forbearance," to become an ethical person, of good character. When there are more good people in the society, and people develop a good mindset and virtue, society will be stabilized and in order.

It is not Falun Gong who makes Chinese society chaotic. It is the authorities themselves. The persecution begun by Jiang against kind people who believe in "Truth, Compassion and Forbearance" tires the people and squanders national resources. The wrongdoers seem to be able to get away with whatever they want at present, without any misgivings. Public security and order are worsening while natural and man-made disasters are on the rise.

When there is a conflict among national interests, between people's interest and the interest of the individual in power, the individual in power always takes personal interest as the first priority and abandons the nation's and people's interest. Using "labeling" and other measures, the suppressors can always discover a thousand reasons to "justify" their "wise" behavior, all of them lies. People who are deluded by an individual in power are to be pitied, because they still have to shout loudly and demonstrate support for the individual in power.

To all my kindhearted fellow citizens of China and the world: what we should do is to uphold justice and righteousness, uphold and guard virtue and kindness and resist these evildoers! If all the people do this, would dictators dare to act in such self-serving manners?

Through experience sharing, all practitioners from the Hiroshima area understood the importance of going to New York City to clarify the truth. Some practitioners said, "We should not just seek benefit from Dafa without contributing." Some practitioners could not make the trip due to their busy work schedule, so they paid to print materials. All of us encouraged and helped each other. Finally five practitioners from our area went to New York City on August 12, 2004.

Upon arriving in NYC, all practitioners from Japan got together, a total of 9 people. On the morning of August 14, we went to Wall Street in Manhattan and started the activities of clarifying truth to save people. We worked together with fellow practitioners from other countries. In the first several days, we were handing out materials on Wall Street and another two spots nearby a park. When I saw that very few people accepted the material, my human notions started to grow. Especially when well dressed businessmen walked by me with heads up, I almost felt they were doing it intentionally just to go against me. I tried handing the materials over and over again but could not find people to accept them for a long time. I became very unsettled and my legs started shaking. I felt the bottom of my feet become so itchy that I almost wanted to find a place to rest. As soon as that thought came up, I immediately realized it was wrong. Coming from thousands of miles away, was I here to rest or to save people? I set my thoughts right and reminded myself to send forth righteous thoughts often to eliminate the evil elements and enable more people to know the truth. It was not easy for us to come to New York, so we should do well in what we are supposed to do. After I adjusted my mentality, I felt my compassion start to grow. When handing out material, I added the words, "Excuse me" when offering flyers and simultaneously sent forth righteous thoughts. Several minutes later, more and more people started to accept truth materials. Some people read the flyer and asked immediately about the contact phone number and expressed interest in learning Falun Gong.

We noticed in the anti-torture exhibitions that most of the policemen and victims were senior citizens. It was very painstaking work. So we practitioners from Japan asked to play roles in the exhibition. Everyone cooperated, some played the policemen and some played victims. We cared for each other and took turns to play different roles. We all felt the compassion as well as fellow practitioners' righteous thoughts cultivated from Falun Dafa.

My first role was to play a victim locked in a cage. For about an hour, I had to bend my body and could not raise my head, with two hands hanging onto the cage. It was very painful. Then I played a victim on the "Tiger Bench". The rope was not really tied around my legs. It was just loosely hanging there, but I already felt back pain and soreness in my legs while on that torture instrument. It was extremely painful. All we were playing out was just the tip of the iceberg. It was just a show to demonstrate and tell people the story. But practitioners in China had to actually endure over a hundred kinds of torture. Some of them had wounds all over, some suffered permanent injury, and some were disfigured. All of them endured various kinds of mental tortures too. Upon thinking of that, my tears kept falling. At the time I only wanted to play the role of victim well to represent my fellow practitioners in China and to tell the truth about the persecution to the people in New York City. I just wanted to have more people come to know the truth, save deceived people, and fulfill our grand prehistoric wish. I hope there will be more practitioners coming to New York to participate in the activities here.

(Clearwisdom.net) I am a Falun Dafa practitioner from Pingjiang County, Yueyang City, Hunan Province. Before I learned Falun Dafa I had eight serious illnesses, including rheumatism, high blood pressure, and chronic stomach problems. Every night, my rheumatism caused me so much pain that I would go crazy. I would wake up my husband at 1 or 2 a.m. so he could hit me to make me feel better. I would scream from pain if he did not hit me. Usually after my husband fell asleep for a few minutes, I would have to wake him up. It went on this way for a few years.

During the day, I could not do much housework. I often had colds. I would go to the hospital to get medication and injections. It usually took me about two months to get better. Local doctors were at their wit's end about my illnesses. I had to go to bigger hospitals for treatment. After a period of time, even the big hospitals refused to give me medication. They said to me, "You will get better if you go home and get some rest." They knew that my illnesses were beyond what they could treat. I knew very well that life would be meaningless if I continued like that. I even ruined my family's life. I said to myself, what's the point of living like this?

In May 1998, I visited an old traditional Chinese doctor, who gave me 4 doses of herbal medicine and said to me, "If you get better after these, you can come back to see me. If it does not help, please do not come back." I walked away dragging my feet with the herbal medicine. When I got home I put them inside my cabinet and went to bed.

On the following day, a friend came to see me. She said to me, "I have good news for you. Falun Gong can help people." Then she told me about Falun Dafa, taught by Mr. Li. She said that we should practice "Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance" and be good people. I thought it made sense and made up my mind to cultivate. A few days later, a fellow practitioner gave me a copy of Zhuan Falun.

On May 20, 1998, a fellow practitioner came to my home to teach me the five sets of exercises. After that, I felt very good and went to bed. I had a very good nights sleep.

In the morning, my husband was very excited. "Falun Gong is so amazing. You did not wake me up to pound on you. No wonder your friend said that as long as you put your heart to it, even cancer can be cured."

From then on, I practiced and studied Dafa every day. After a month, I recovered from all my illnesses. I did not bother to try the herbal medicine prescribed by the traditional Chinese doctor. In the past few years, not only has my health improved, my family members have also benefited. In March last year, my son rode his motorcycle to work and collided with a taxi at a street corner. Eyewitnesses thought that my son must have died from the collision. However, he picked himself up with no injuries, although his motorbike was finished. People all said that our family must have enshrined and worshipped some great god, otherwise my son could not have survived such an accident. Then they found out that his mother practices Falun Gong. Falun Gong has given my son new life and Master Li has given my son a second life. Kind-hearted people, please remember Falun Dafa is good and try it for yourself.

My name is Bao Guoju and I live in Badaogou Village, Daoerdeng Town, Lingyuan City, Liaoning Province. I had congenital albinism. After I was married, I suffered from headache, inflammation of the eyes and heart disease. I obtained Falun Dafa in the fall of 1998 and all of my illnesses disappeared without any treatment. My albinism was cured and my white hair gradually turned black from the roots. After several years of practice, I have more and more black hair. One of my friends who studies medicine told me, "If you didn't practice Falun Gong, your hair would have remained white for the rest of your life as no drug can cure albinism."

1) Dafa practitioner Tang Bingyan, in his thirties, is the deputy head manager at the Haiying Lighting Co. Ltd. in Chongqing. In July 2004, National Security Agents followed him and abducted him outside a grocery store. They secretly held him at a National Security Bureau office near Hongqihegou in the Yubei District in Chongqing.

2) Falun Gong practitioner Lu Rui's mother recounts her son's persecution: Lu Rui has been held at the Qinduankou Prison in Hanyang, Wuhan City, Hubei Province for over six months. The prison authorities block information and do not allow me to visit my son. In late June 2004, I learned for the first time that my son is being held there. When I asked to see him the perpetrators refused and said, "According to policies from higher up, Falun Gong practitioners' families are not allowed to visit them." They deprived a mother of her right to visit her son.

3) My name is Quan Qiming, a Falun Gong practitioner in the Banan District, Chongqing. In November 1999, I went to Beijing to appeal and was sent to a detention center and held there for one month. From then on, perpetrators from the Huaxi Police Station and from the town government often came to harass me. On February 14, 2001, the police ransacked my home and took me to the Nanquan Police Station, where they beat me with a wooden stick and handcuffed my wrists so tightly that the cuffs cut into my veins. I suffered excruciating pain. Then I was held at a detention center for two months and under house arrest for two more years. The police also took away the money I had saved to open a small business. On August 17, 2001, the police came to harass me and to avoid continuous persecution I had no choice but to go into exile. I had to leave behind my paralyzed mother and my two school-aged daughters.

4) As of mid-August, authorities from the Taoshan Police Precinct in Qitaihe City, Heilongjiang Province arrested 12 Dafa practitioners, including Yin Guiling, Xue Jinfeng, Jia Xiuting (who was interrogated for three days and three nights, but she regained freedom with the power of her righteous thoughts), Li Guiying, Liu Fuzhen, Ma, Yu (who is currently holding a hunger strike to protest the persecution), Hou, and Sun Guangyan.

5) Zhang Xiaoying is 57 years old and a resident of Jiazhuangzi Village, Shimen Town, Zunhua City, Hebei Province. Because she refused to give up Falun Gong and had clarified the truth about Falun Gong, she was arrested and detained numerous times and was sent to brainwashing centers. She was also detained at the Kaiping Forced Labor Camp in Tangshan City and the Gaoyang Forced Labor Camp in Baoding City, where she was cruelly tortured. Zhang Xiaoying broke free after holding a hunger strike for five or six months.

(Clearwisdom.net) A "solemn declaration" is a person's public statement declaring to the world that whatever he or she has done or said under duress or deception that was against Falun Dafa is null and void. Most of these statements have come from Falun Dafa practitioners in China who wished to express regret that, in the face of physical torture and brainwashing, they had signed documents renouncing Dafa and guaranteeing not to practice again. Also, as more and more people in China learn the truth about how they have been deceived and lied to by the Jiang regime, many non-practitioners are also submitting "solemn declarations."
