(Clearwisdom.net) Li Qixi, Tang Ying, and Li Baoxia of Zhanjiang, Guangdong Province, were brutally persecuted for practicing Falun Dafa. They were forced to give up their belief, were tortured both mentally and physically, and finally passed away. In addition, Li Zhongjuan, an older woman in Xiashan District, Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province, suffered harassment from the vicious people. Her son and daughter-in-law were also persecuted. She finally died because of the persecution.
Ms. Li Qixi, 58, was an accountant in the Refrigerating Plant of Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province. She's benefited from the practice since attending Master's lecture in December 1994 in Guangzhou. Through continuous practice and study of Falun Dafa, all of her chronic and stubborn diseases were healed. She actively promoted Falun Dafa, started exercise sites, taught the exercises voluntarily and tirelessly, and has led more than 60 people to join the practice.
After July 20, 1999, when the persecution began, she didn't give up her belief and persisted in cultivating Falun Dafa, so she was harassed continuously. The "610 Office" monitored her for a long time. She was illegally detained for thirty days after she went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Dafa in December 2000, and she never had freedom after that. She was abducted by the "610 Office" in Zhanjiang for brainwashing in April 2001, and after she was forced to accept the brainwashing under the high pressure, her mental state was severely damaged. She lost her cultivation environment, and her old ailment returned. She finally passed away on August 24, 2001.
Ms. Tang Ying, 48, was a resident of Dongshan Town in Donghaidao, Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province. She started practicing Falun Dafa in 1997 at a practice site in the city. Her physical body was purified, and her xinxing [mind-heart nature, moral character] improved rapidly. She went back to her hometown to promote the practice, started exercise sites there, and helped the predestined people in Donghaidao District to cultivate Falun Dafa.
On her way to Beijing to appeal in February 2000, the local "610 Office" abducted her and sent her to the detention center for persecution and torture. She was detained for a month before being released.
The local "610 Office" and police station then broke into her home several times in February 2001, and detained her in the Dongshan Police Station for further torture. She was deprived of sleep and was interrogated continuously. She was also tortured and interrogated, and forced to stand on her knees for an entire night. They sent her to the Zhanjiang Detention Center to continue persecuting her. In the wintertime, the vicious people poured cold water on her, and put her in heavy shackles.
After a month, she was transferred to a brainwashing class in Suixi County. She refused to write the statement accepting the brainwashing, and as a result, three months later she was sent to Sanshui Forced Labor Camp in Guangdong Province. She received even worse abuse in the forced labor camp, both physical and mental. She was ill after she wrote the "Three Statements" under high pressure. Then she was forced to go through surgery, which resulted in an infection at the surgery wound. She was released under medical parole when she was dying, and she passed away in June 2003.
Ms. Li Baoxia, 42, was a resident of Xiashan District, Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province. She used to be weak and had lots of illnesses. After she started practicing Falun Dafa in 1995, she became healthy. She went to Beijing in December 1999 to appeal for her faith. After she came back, the police department and the local police station monitored and interrogated her continuously, and forced her to write the "Three Statements." She was severely tortured and damaged both mentally and physically, and died at the end of January 2000.
Ms. Li Zhongjuan, 63, was a resident of Xiashan District, Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province. She started practicing Falun Dafa in 1994. Everyone in her family practiced Falun Gong. Her family was harmonious, healthy, and had a high moral standard. After July 20, 1999, to clarify the truth, Li Zhongjuan walked around and told people that Falun Dafa is good. She distributed the truth clarifying materials and pasted slogans. On the evening of October 13, 2000, more than a dozen ruffians and secret agents from the National Security Department broke into her home. They confiscated the Falun Dafa materials, and abducted her son and daughter-in-law. Her son was released after a month, and in a few days the policemen took him away again. Her daughter-in-law was sentenced to three and a half years in jail. Only the elderly woman and her two grand children were left at home. She could not bear the heavy blow and died on February 23, 2001.
(Clearwisdom.net) During the period from the middle of June to the Middle of September, three more Falun Dafa practitioners died after being tortured in Liaoning Provincial Prisons' General Hospital. They were all admitted after they went on hunger strikes.
Mr. Gao Lianyi, who was a 34-year-old Falun Dafa practitioner from Tiexi District, Shenyang City, Liaoning Province, used to be a Taxi driver. He started practicing Falun Gong in 1997, has a very kind heart, and a very healthy body. He went to Beijing to appeal in October 1999. After being picked up he was detained in Shenyang City No.5 Detention Center, Shenyang City Tiexi District Mental Hospital, and the Forced Brainwashing Class held in Shenyang City Longshan Labor Camp, where he went through brutal mental and physical tortures. They also demanded money from, harassed, and closely monitored him. He had to become homeless in order to avoid being illegally taken from his home at the beginning of 2001. At the end of February 2002, he was taken by Changchun City Police Station and Tiexi District Qinggong Substation and locked in Tiexi Detention Center. He went on a hunger strike to protest and was transferred to Liaoning Provincial Prisons' General Hospital. During the time period when Mr. Gao Lianyi was on the hunger strike, the prison administration, made up of the Tiexi Detention Center, the Tiexi Police Station and the Tiexi District Party Political and Judiciary Committee, had decided that they would rather a prisoner die on a hunger strike than be released free. They chose not to do anything for him, resulting in his death. The hospital abetted this with the thinking that if patient's administrators do not care, they would not be responsible.
Patients in the same room with Mr. Gao Lianyi said, "They are too harsh on Falun Gong. Even if these people are guilty, they do not deserve to die. They still would take care of him even he is like this!"
We heard Gao was tortured to death in September 2004. The details are to be investigated. After he died, many of the patients who were in the same room as him said, "This is not simply persecution, this is murder!"
The Tiexi District Detention Center gives prisoners bad food. It also has very messy management, for example, during a single month in 2003, two new prisoners were beaten to death in the same cell. A prisoner dying from lack of medical care is an all too common phenomena. If any sickness among prisoners is reported, those who make the report will normally hear such inhuman answers, "Is he dead? Don't report it if not they are not dead!"
Mr. Zhou Zhi is a Falun Dafa practitioner, (detailed personal information needs to be investigated, please help!) After he went on a hunger strike of more than 40 days in the No.2 Jail inside the Prison City, he was sent to Liaoning Provincial Prisons' General Hospital. The Hospital doctor saw that he was dying and sent him home for fear of being responsible for his death. He died shortly after he returned home, on August 16, 2004. Mr. Guan Wenjiang is a Falun Dafa practitioner from Xinmin City, Liaoning Province (see http://www.clearwisdom.net/emh/articles/2004/9/11/52295.html). He was released after a long prison term with a face deformed by torture. When someone asked him why he was tortured so badly, while there is a Hospital inside the Prison, he replied, "That place is a butcher shop" with a pained expression. Even to recall that place caused him great pain. He died several days after being picked up by No.2 Prison.
We heard another Falun Dafa practitioner whose name is unknown died after a hunger strike. The details need to be investigated.
(Clearwisdom.net) Mr. Peng Guangjun was an elderly Falun Gong practitioner who lived in Houqiaozi Village, Qiaozi Town, Huairou District, Beijing. On January 15, 2004, he was transferred to the Tuanhe Forced Labor Camp from the Beijing Forced Labor Camp Distribution Center. On January 22, 2004, when the labor camp was holding the flag-raising ceremony, he loudly shouted, "Falun Dafa is good!" He was immediately taken away and sent to the Central Training Section by Zhao Jiang, a policeman from the Third Section.
On January 24, after about only a day, Peng Guangjun was sent to the Tuanhe Hospital's emergency room and was pronounced dead that same day. In fact, Peng Guangjun had been beaten to death before he was sent to the hospital. The labor camp authorities took him to the hospital in an attempt to cover up their crimes.
Mr. Peng's family members requested an autopsy, but the officer in charge told them, "If you give up investigating the cause of Peng Guangjun's death, you are allowed to pick a cinerary urn and cemetery for him. The government will also give you 15,000 yuan to cover the funeral expenses." He also threatened, "If you don't want to obey the government's arrangement, we'll make all your family members jobless so that you all will be unable to make a living." Mr. Peng's family members were forced to compromise under such pressure.
When Peng Guangjun's remains were to be cremated, someone got the chance to look over the dead body and found that both his head and body were covered with black and bleeding bruises all over. His face had signs of burning from being shocked by electric batons. Some of his bones had also been broken.
After Peng Guangjun was dead, to disguise the atrocity, the labor camp arranged for a medical examination for elderly Falun Gong practitioners during February 11 to February 23, 2004. Then the labor camp promoted its propaganda to the public stating its "concern for elderly Falun Gong practitioners." There have not been any other medical examinations for elderly Falun Gong practitioners before or since then.
Currently, the Tuanhe Forced Labor Camp still imprisons many older practitioners, including a few couples. Mr. Yue Guangshen, 73 years old, lived Beidian Village of Liudian Town of Pinggu District of Beijing. He needed help even when he walked, yet, he has been locked up just because of he practices Falun Gong. The officials have declared that those aged people "have seriously disturbed" the social order.
(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Cao Shuyun is a 56-year-old Falun Dafa practitioner from Erdao County, Fengman District of Jilin City. Around 9:00 am on August 23, 2004, her home was illegally searched and ransacked by police officers from the local police station. They also confiscated many Falun Dafa books and several truth-clarifying flyers. As the police were arresting Ms. Cao, they said to her, "We are arresting you because your nephew, director Cao, ordered so. He thinks you had provided the Clearwisdom website with his telephone numbers."
Cao Jianguo is the director of Jilin City Public Security Bureau at Fengman District Branch. He once ordered local police officers to arrest and beat Falun Dafa practitioners to the point of nearly losing consciousness, and then robbed them of their belongings. His crimes have been exposed on the Clearwisdom website on multiple occasions, and some local practitioners put together a flyer exposing his crimes and posted them in the area. When Ms. Cao Shuyun found out about her nephew's wrongful deeds, she went to his home and advised him to stop persecuting Dafa practitioners at once. Cao Jianguo refused to listen to his aunt, and he got very angry. "Don't you get involved in this matter, otherwise I will have you arrested too," he threatened her.
In the evening of July 19, 2004, many police officers went to Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Liu Jun' home. For almost three hours, they ransacked and robbed the place under the direction of Cao Jianguo. Later, the officers from Erdao County Police Station visited Liu's home seven times and tried to make arrests. As a result, Mr. Liu Jun, his wife Yu Guiling, and their son, had to flee from their home to avoid being arrested.
More local residents became aware of Cao Jianguo's conduct. His telephone and cell phone number, as well as telephone numbers at his workplace, were published on the Clearwisdom website. More and more people saw the letter of appeal that was written by Falun Dafa practitioners who had been persecuted by Cao Jianguo. Cao became afraid that his criminal conduct could be further exposed and could hinder his career advancement, so he went all out to cover up his crimes. Cao suspected his aunt had provided the telephone numbers and relevant material to the Clearwisdom website, so he ordered Ms. Cao to be arrested and her home searched. Ms. Cao is currently being detained at the No. 3 Detention Center of Jilin City.
We ask all kind-hearted people to pay attention to this matter and to help rescue Ms. Cao Shuyun.

(Clearwisdom.net) Shandong Female Prison is acclaimed as the "civilized prison" of the province. It is actually a living hell. Prisoners here spend most of their time processing clothes in an awful environment. I am in the 4th Section. I have been working in the basement and have not seen sunlight for two years. We have over 300 people jammed together in this space. The air is foul. We cannot breathe well and we cough constantly. Moreover, we continuously work overtime. At times, we work through the night for several days without being allowed to bathe. The longest time was when we worked non-stop for 8 days and 8 nights in September during the hottest time of the year. Without washing for 8 days and nights, our bodies smelled very bad. We could hardly survive it. We lived like this through the whole year. When Labor Day on May 1st and National Day (October 1st) approached, we had to work on making toys.
We worked overtime sewing toys until 1:00 a.m. Afterward, we went back to the ward and cut furs until 2-3:00 a.m. When a prison inspection team visited, prisoners were told to tell lies, saying that we worked until 8:00 p.m. every day and that we had the weekends off. None of us dared to say that we actually worked all through the night; otherwise our points would be deducted (which means our terms would be extended) and we would also be beaten. The supervisors and leaders are very good at torturing and verbally abusing people. I saw that several healthy people were beaten until they suffered mental collapse from the trauma. We can only take a bath every 2-3 months. Our bodies have various infections.
The food here is extremely bad. We are given cold meals regardless of the season. Every day we eat mashed winter melons, pumpkins, cabbage, and carrots. Prisoners are very likely to get sick. The evil here is beyond description. The so-called transformation (1) in the prison is actually forcing people to be selfish and to tell lies. The perpetrators from Jiang's faction have deformed the whole of society and the legal system. Their crimes go against the heavenly principles.

(1) "Transformation" refers to Falun Dafa practitioners renouncing Dafa under extreme physical and mental pressure.
(Clearwisdom.net) Since May 2004, the police of Leshan City in Sichuan Province have been arresting and detaining Dafa Practitioners illegally on a large scale. Of those detained, practitioners Li Fengqi, Lu Haiqun, Wang Yuanqing, Liu Pinxiu and many others were sent directly to the Nanmusi Forced Labor Camp. Practitioners Wang Zhengmo, Lin Lisha and Yang Minghua are still being detained in Shizhushan Detention Center.
In order to protest against these unlawful detentions, Wang Zhengmo went on a hunger strike for more than 10 days and Lin Lisha for more than one month. When both practitioners were on the verge of death, they were released on bail. Family members look after them at home, but they remain under surveillance. Lin Lisha has been sentenced to five years in prison, but the term is being served outside of the prison.
On June 24, 2004, Huo Xiaoping was abducted by police and detained at Shizhushan Detention Center. Huo was the assistant at the Leshan City Falun Dafa Assistance Center. By July 9, 2004, Huo Xiaoping was tortured so severely that she was reduced to just skin and bones. The police informed her mother to bring her home, only after her life was in danger. On July 23, the Center District People's Court attempted to pass a verdict on her, but failed. Currently, Huo Xiaoping is under home surveillance, and the perpetrators often go to her home to harass her and her family.
Practitioner Huo Xiaoping used to work for Leshan City Education Commission before the persecution started She lost her job, was dismissed from the Communist Party, was arrested and detained many times, because she refused to give up the practice of Falun Gong. In 2000, Huo Xiaoping was sentenced for 3 years of forced labor. She experienced all kinds of tortures in the prison. When Huo Xiaoping was released, she tried to get her job back and was sentenced for another 2 years. The long periods of torture and persecution have gravely deteriorated her health. In April 2004, she was detained in Jiajiang Detention Center and she went on a hunger strike in protest. She was brought back home by her mother a week later.
Practitioner Su Chunxiu lived in downtown area of Leshan City. At 10 PM one night, the police deceived her into opening her door and so illegally arrested her. She was sent into Jiajiang Detention Center. She went on a hunger strike for more than 16 days. The police extorted 5,000 yuan from her family and then released her on the account that she would be looked after by her daughter. In 2000, Su Chunxiu went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong, the perpetrators extorted 4500 yuan from her for it. Her house was ransacked. The perpetrators took the book of Zhuan Falun without her permission and 500 yuan cash.
Practitioner Shuai Liang is a retired 2nd grade disabled soldier. He practices Falun Gong and has been detained in Jiangjia Detention Center since April 6, 2004. Practitioner Yang Guihua, from Yangwan, is forced to lead a homeless life. In April, 2004, she was arrested and illegally detained in Jiangjia Detention Center. A month later, she was bailed out by her family and put under home surveillance. A practitioner with the surname Jiang has been detained at Emei Detention Center.
Many other practitioners have been arrested, but their situations and detention locations are not known at this time.
(Clearwisdom.net) In November 2002, Wang Haiyan was sent to the Third Division in Guangzhou City's Chatou Forced Labor Camp. I met her there as I was also illegally sentenced to three years of forced labor. I saw her the first time she went to Beijing on July 20, 1999, to appeal for Falun Gong. At that time, her eyes were beautiful and shining. When I saw her in the forced labor camp however, she looked totally different. She was being held up by two people, and she could not see out of either eye. Her right eyeball was sunken and had shrunk, even the black pupil of her right eye had completely turned white. She had great difficulty walking and was unable to look after herself.

Though she has been barbarously abused, the forced labor camp still arbitrarily locked her up in the guardhouse. This made her injuries worse.
The following tells how Wang Haiyan was arrested and persecuted. As we know, Wang Haiyan was followed and reported when she was clarifying the truth of Falun Gong and handing out truth-clarifying materials. It happened near the Wangfujing Department Store in the Dongshan District in Guangzhou City on the afternoon of June 13, 2002. Policemen from the Nonglinxia Street Police Station in the Dongshan District, and plainclothes officers from the "610 Office" were following her. These five or six people approached her together, some grabbing her backpack and handbag, some grasping her hair, others twisting her hands, a few kicking and beating her, and some violently striking her head and face. She shouted loudly, "Stop beating! It is against the law to beat people!" One of them roared, "Don't shout or I beat you to death! This is no different from trampling an ant to death!" The people surrounding and watching attempted to stop them, but were driven away immediately.
Wang Haiyan faintly remembered that she was dragged to an obscure, out-of the way place, and then thrown into a ditch. After she was forcibly taken to the Nonglinxia Street Police Station, her clothes were saturated with rain and blood. Her head, eyes, and other parts of her body were seriously injured. She requested to be sent to a hospital for a medical examination and treatment, however, they instead threw her into a small dark room despite her vomiting. She was hungry and thirsty, and she felt so cold that she had convulsions. No one offered her food or water. She trembled and felt so much pain that she was almost dead. Later she vomited white fluid and collapsed on the ground.
When she was sent to the hospital for emergency treatment and became conscious again, the police threatened her at once, trying to prevent her from telling the true details to the doctor. Then she lapsed into unconsciousness. After emergency intervention, she regained consciousness. She felt painful and tired, and both her body and mind were traumatized. She temporarily lost her memory. One of the doctors told her that the tissue of her eyeball and optic nerve were damaged, and there were several bruises on her brain. Additionally, her left eardrum was damaged, and she lost the ability to hear in one of her ears. There were black and blue marks and blood all over her body, and she had contusions on several parts of her soft tissue. The doctors wanted to know more about her injuries, but the police dragged them away.
After a round of emergency treatments and examinations, the doctors suggested to arrange for Wang Haiyan to stay in the hospital for careful treatment. But the policemen from "610 Office" instead ordered the doctors to disconnect the intravenous tubes and make arrangements for her to leave immediately. Then she was sent to Guangzhou City Dongshan District Detention Center, where the administrator refused to accept her due to the seriousness of her injuries.
In order to get the detention center to accept Wang Haiyan, the city "610 Office" enforcers and the officers from the police station sent her to the armed police hospital and forced the doctor to issue a certain certificate and obtained some medicines. They took the chance when the detention chief was off work to have her admitted and illegally detained her in the detention center for almost four months. During the first month she had to totally rely on others to look after her. She could not walk, and could not see anything. She requested medical treatment several times, but was refused, simply because she was a Falun Gong practitioner. Eventually her injuries deteriorated and she suffered headaches and eye pain every day. She often felt such harsh pain that her body trembled and she could not sleep, night after night. Eventually her right eye became blind, and the eyesight in her left eye declined very quickly to the point that she could not see clearly with that eye either.
She did not know that she had been sentenced to two years of forced labor until she was forcibly sent to the Guangzhou Chatou Forced Labor Camp at the beginning of November 2002. She was locked up in the guardhouse, during which time she was tortured again. She was deprived of sleep, dragged from the bed, and brainwashed with defamatory materials. The guards kept torturing her around the clock in order to coerce her to give up Falun Dafa practice. The persecutors ordered others to write the "Three Statements" and forced her to sign the documents. Being mentally traumatized, she signed under this tremendous pressure.
Soon it was said that Wang Haiyan's family had applied for medical bail and come to take her back home. This year when I came out of the forced labor camp and saw her again, I saw that her right eye was blind and completely damaged, while sight in her left eye had improved and was better than when she was in the labor camp.
She and her family had always wanted to sue the criminals and expose the policemen's crimes to the public and bring them to justice, but all the friends and family members who wished to help had been threatened, so the case made no progress. The telephones, mobile phones, and whereabouts of the entire family were monitored. They live in daily horror and their lives and personal belongings faced scrutiny. Following are additional details of this practitioner's ordeals:
From July 20, 1999 to 2004, Wang Haiyan experienced illegal searches, arrest, fines, beatings, and frequent other cruel treatment under the inhuman persecution, until she suffered disfigurement and a blind eye. On July 20, 1999 she went to Beijing to peacefully appeal, and was illegally arrested, but she escaped using righteous thoughts. In September 1999 she was searched twice by Guangzhou City's "610 Office" enforcers due to her peaceful appeal. At the end of September 1999, she was secretly arrested and taken to the Guangzhou Huangpu Sea Freight Drug Rehabilitation Center, where she stayed for almost three months. She staged a hunger strike and escaped with the power of her righteous thoughts. Her family was extorted of about 17,000 Yuan (1) without being given any receipts. On June 18, 2000 she went to the Guangzhou City Government to participate in a large group practice, but was arrested and taken to the Liwan Detention Center. The perpetrators then sent her to the Guangzhou Shahe Detention Center, where she was detained for over two months. She staged a hunger strike for over twenty days and suffered inhumane tortures along with many other Falun Gong practitioners. She was force-fed, sprayed with chili water, shocked with high voltage electric batons, and locked up in a cell with mental patients. She again escaped with the power of her righteous thoughts. The brutal torture she was subjected to in June 2000 seriously injured her.
Not long ago, Wang Haiyan went to the Chancheng District Police Department in Foshan City, Guangdong Province to apply for a passport and "the permit to go to HK or Macao" but the entry-exit management section of the police department refused her request. She and her family members finally took their hearts of grace and began planning to sue the criminals. They have prepared the document and will file a class-action suit against the police departments, prosecutors, and the courts, to expose this extremely cruel persecution to the public.
The authorities have recently again tried many times to arrest her, as they fear for their crimes being exposed.

(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Li Chunhua was born on April 14, 1964. She is a photographer, and was employed by Jianhua District Cultural Bureau of Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province. She was named "Excellent Art Teacher" at the City, Provincial, and State levels, and her photographs won many prizes. Her writing has also been published in Prose Monthly. She suffered chronic illnesses, which disappeared once she began practicing Falun Dafa, after which she became very energetic.
After the persecution of Falun Dafa began in 1999, she held firm in her faith, and clarified the truth to those deceived by lies and propaganda. She was subjected to persecution by authorities from various government departments who violated her rights and, forced her to divorce her husband then sentenced her to a forced labor camp. In Qiqihar City Forced Labor Camp, she was tortured by being locked up in a small cell (1), being cuffed and suspended from the cuffs (2), prolonged squatting (3), sleep deprivation, brutal beatings and cursing. She was forced to work on a toxic agricultural chemical production line without any safety equipment, tortured for 22 months, and had no choice but to leave home to avoid being arrested.
The following is a translation of Li Chunhua's statement compiled to support her lawsuit against those responsible for persecuting her:
Plaintiff: Li Chunhua, female, born on April 14, 1964, Han nationality, is a photographer, formerly employed by Jianhua District Cultural Bureau of Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province. She is destitute and homeless in order to avoid being illegally arrested at home.
Defendant: Qiqihar City Police Department, Zhonghua Street Police Station, Wenhua Road Police Station, Qiqihar City Forced Labor Camp, Qiqihar City No.1 Detention Center; Qiqihar City Political and Judiciary Committee (the "610 Office"), Jianhua District Political and Judiciary Committee ("610 Office"); The Qiqihar City Judicial Bureau; Jianhua District Cultural Bureau of Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province, Qiqihar City Siyou Chemicals Factory; Qiqihar City Daily, Qiqihar City TV Station, and Qiqihar City Radio Station.
Appeal: 1. Bring all individuals and parties who participated in persecution of the plaintiff to justice; restore the reputation of Falun Dafa's founder and Falun Dafa; grant the right to legally publish Falun Dafa books; provide legal and fair cultivation environment [referring to rescind the ban and permit the public practice of Falun Dafa exercises and right to purchase the book of the main teachings of Falun Dafa]; and unconditionally release all detained Falun Dafa practitioners. 2. Legal protection of plaintiff's rights, so that the plaintiff can work normally and practice openly in the environment without harassment.

Falun Dafa Purified My Mind and Body
I am a photographer, formerly employed by Jianhua District Cultural Bureau of Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province. I was named as Excellent Art Teacher at City, Provincial, and State Levels. My photographs won many prizes, and my literature writings were also published in Prose Monthly. Before cultivating Falun Dafa, I had very low blood pressure, as well as cervical spondylosis on my neck and spine, I needed glucose injections in the summer to sustain my life, I suffered terrible pain, vomiting and dizziness, and could not work or study. After only about one month after I began practicing Falun Dafa, my sicknesses all disappeared, and I felt very energetic.
I know very well the miraculous effect of Falun Dafa on healing sickness and keeping fit. I also found that Falun Dafa can improve practitioners self discipline, enhance their compassion towards others, and guide people to be better by upgrading their virtue, thereby benefiting the public. In our modern society, which emphasizes money and increasingly disregards virtue, cultivators of Falun Dafa have created a pure environment that cleanses their surroundings. I treasure such an environment, and wish to wash off the dust in my heart, and become more pure.
Learning to Become a Better Person, My Career Met With Greater Success
I always cleaned my apartment building hallways when I came back from practicing Falun Gong (address, Door 1, Building No.3, Yuying Residential Area). I worked harder after my health improved. My student Yu Haoyu's art work won the International Art prize in an exhibit in 1999, and I won the State Level Excellent Art Teacher Award. I also won the 1999 Excellent Cultural Educator Award issued by City Culture Bureau, City Education Committee, and City Folk Art Museum. My writings were published on Provincial and City level publications, my article of Walk in the Music was selected in Youth Writers Anthology (but rescinded after the persecution against Falun Dafa began).
Arrested For Exercising My Constitutional Right to Appeal
On July 22, 1999, I went to the City Government Building, where I tried to clarify the truth to the government. Two big buses suddenly appeared, and out jumped dozens of armed police dressed in camouflage, steel helmets, and carrying machine guns. We were sent to a suburban school, where we peacefully clarified the truth to these soldiers. Around midnight, we were sent to Jianhua District Police Department, and police sent me home the next morning. Ever since then, our home phone was bugged, and our retired neighbor Ms. Ding Wenli (who lives in Room 403) and the women who work in the store downstairs, in collusion with Zhonghua Street Police Station, kept a close watch on me and followed me everywhere. My friends and family were so worried about me. They recounted the destroyed lives of those persecuted in past political movements, and tried to persuade me to give up cultivation. My parents and teachers always taught me to speak the truth since my childhood. Why is it so difficult to speak the truth? The media had penetrated the air and land with lies, administrators from the district and bureau pressured me to write a "Guarantee Statement." Deceived by the lies, my mother-in-law, who had lived with me for over ten years, called every day, worried that I would knife my husband and our daughter. I was labeled as being "abnormal' by society and my family, causing huge mental pressure and isolation.
On October 9, 1999, when the local government could not resolve our mistreatments, two fellow practitioners and I went to Beijing to appeal, exercising our legal rights as citizens of China. I wrote an appeal statement in the motel in Beijing -- "Please Listen to Our Voice," explaining what Falun Dafa is. We went to the State Council Appeals Office, with several plainclothes police following us. The doormen found out we were Falun Dafa practitioners, confiscated our personal IDs, and a few hours later, officer Yang Jian, Liu Jin and a driver from No. 10 Section of Qiqihar City Police Department picked us up and sent us to the Qiqihar City Liaison Office in Beijing. .
Tortured in Qiqihar City No.1 Detention Center
We were taken back to the Qiqihar City on October 14, 1999. The police in Zhonghua Street Police Station locked me in the city's No.1 Detention Center. Many Falun Dafa practitioners were sent and locked here day and night. Some of them were foreign citizens; some of them were intercepted on their way to appeal in Beijing; some of them were sent here because they refused to curse Master Li on the street; some of them were even dragged from their homes without any reason. The cells were so crowded that we did not have enough room to even sleep on our sides. One day we were peacefully practicing the Falun Dafa exercises, and the cell head reported to his boss, so he stormed in (surname Yang), cursing. He rushed to our bed boards, pushed us out of the cells, and forced us to sit on the cold cement floor in the hall, with our hands cuffed behind the back, wearing ankle shackles. We were tortured like this for over ten days. We could not take care of our daily necessities, and the pain made it difficult to breathe. We could not sleep in any position, because the handcuffs on the back were excruciatingly painful. The worst thing was hearing a guard's dirty language, shouting every day to the men in the cell next-door. It was unbearably despicable and dirty.
My Family Members Were Manipulated Under Pressure - I was Forced to Divorce My Husband and Sentenced to Forced Labor
Since immediate release would be granted by merely promising to give up practicing Falun Dafa, our family members tried with all their might to get us back home. We could hear the families of some practitioners' screaming and crying in the visitation room, or some loud voices and other sounds when there were arguments going on. My father, over 70 years old, my sisters, and my daughter came to visit, all persuading me to get released by declaring to give up the practice. My daughter cried when she touched my wrist, swollen from the cuffs, and begged me, "Mom, please come back home, I miss you so much!"
My younger sister and my daughter both kneeled in front of me, begging me with tears. My heart was splitting, and I tried so hard not to cry out loud. My father slapped my face. My shocked daughter stood between my father and me, guarding me with her little hands, "Grandpa, please don't beat my Mom!"
I walked out of the visitation room determined. There was nothing wrong with me practicing Falun Dafa and living according to Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance. I never violated the law, but was being mistreated and locked up by lawless authorities. I knew the corrupt officers intended to defeat me with my innocent family members. My young daughter chased after me. I turned back, and waved my heavy arm at her. My daughter stopped, looked at me with such a helpless sadness. Her weak and small image wearing two pigtails is permanently etched in my memory.
Several days later, my husband Liu Qi came with personnel from Jianhua District Court. He told me that he had tried to rescue me by getting a proof that I was mentally ill, but the police threatened that they would send me to a mental hospital for real. Police threatened to make him jobless and prevent our daughter from attending school if he did not write Guarantee Statements on my behalf stating I would not practice Falun Dafa. The Director Hu Bin of Jianhua District's Wenhua Road Police Station forced my husband to divorce me. I signed the paper to ensure that they would not involve him or my daughter in this persecution.
Several days later, the Qiqihar City TV Station and police from Zhonghua Street Police Station videotaped me in the detention center. Deputy Director Han of the police station announced the statement sentencing me to one year in labor camp. This news was posted on Qiqihar Daily Newspaper, broadcasted on both the Qiqihar Radio Station and the TV Station. On November 11, 1999, Ms. Tao Chunlian, Ms.Cheng Liping, Ms. Wang Jingling and I were sent to the Shuanghe Forced Labor Camp in Qiqihar City (currently called Qiqihar City Forced Labor Camp).
Torture In The Labor Camp - Locked in a Small Cell, Cuffed and Suspended, Prolonged Squatting, Sleep Deprivation, Brutal Beating and Cursing
On November 11, 1999, upon arriving at the Qiqihar City Forced Labor Camp, I found 16 other Falun Dafa practitioners were also there. We sat on the beds, and went on hunger strike to protest the illegal detention, and wrote appeal letters to each level of the government. Three days later, guards dragged us down from the metal beds, and our appeal letters have not been seen since.
There was no hot water or bath place, and no days off. We had to work day and night, and suffer verbal abuse, physical torture and/or beatings when doing our exercises. Before New Year's Day of 2000, more than a dozen of us were locked up in small cells for doing the exercises. The small cells had previously been chicken coops. They were cold, dilapidated, and filthy. Division Leader Zhao Lijuan (female) and Liu Shurong (female) coerced female prisoner Li Xiaoyang to torture us. I was suspended from the small cell window for several hours, and then my hands were cuffed behind my back to the bed. I could only squat, and was not allowed to sit or sleep, with the threat of being beaten. Fellow practitioner, Ms. Yang Shulan suffered a heart attack, and was nearly tortured to death. Ms. Yu Zhenjie from Mudanjiang City suffered urinary incontinence due to long term squatting. Without warm shoes, her legs were frozen numb. Ms. Shi Shufang, Ms. Wang Xiuying, and Ms. Zhang Shuzhe were all tortured both mentally and physically. My right wrist was wounded from being cuffed and hung, and I could not feel anything for more than one year.
Practitioners Forced to Work on Agricultural Chemical Production Lines Without Protection
Siyou Chemical Factory is a privately owned factory that produces agricultural pesticides. The labor camp sold our free labor to the factory at a huge profit. The pesticides are poisonous to humans, and come with warnings and labels requiring that workers exposed to the chemicals take a shower and wear protective gear. Despite our strong requests, we received no protection.
The production plant was filled with poisonous dust. There was powder on our eye lashes, body hair, etc. The dust was so strong as to make us cough or our eyes tear-up badly even if we put on three to four layers of paper respirator. We suffered from bloody noses and vomited blood. Our eyes were red, our faces were all red, and our skin cracked.
The force labor camp authorities showed no concern for our life or death, and we had to get up at 4:00 a.m., walk to the factory without time to wash, work until our 30-minute lunch break, which included the time it took to wash up, eat lunch, and use the toilet. We had to run to avoid being beaten or cursed. Some of us fell to the floor with fatigue from overwork, some broke into loud crying. We walked back to the forced labor camp around 11-12 at night, and went to bed hungry.
Forced To Produce Repackage Outdated Pesticides, Cheating the Consumers
The factory and the labor camp forced us to open out-of-date pesticides, and repackage them with new dates to be resold. Trucks of outdated pesticides were shipped into Siyou Factory, like little mountains. I suggested they stop cheating and stop forcing us to commit this crime, because Falun Dafa practitioners must be good people and we cannot participate in such dishonest behavior. My fellow practitioners, Ms. Li Aiying and Ms. Wang Xiuying, and I all stopped working, and they cursed us madly. One tall guard even tried to kick me, but I stopped him sternly.
Officer Huang Jing (female) pulled me from the workplace down the stairs and threatened me, "Do you know what is waiting for you?" I answered, "I know, but it is worth sacrifice to maintain moral standards!" I submitted two copies of my report to the Labor Camp Administration and the Factory with many signatures collected from Dafa practitioners. Under such pressure, they had to stop the illegal operation.
Good People Detained, Chicken Coops Used as Small Cells, Tortured by Methods Known as the "Big Hang-up", "Ground Rings", and "Feeding the Mosquitoes"...
Several officials from Qiqihar City Labor Camp Division came for the Chinese New Year 2000. They admitted that we were all good people, and expressed sympathy for us. The head of them named Bai said many times during the big meeting that we were good people, that he did not want to detain us, and wanted us go home as early as possible when our terms expired. Higher authorities required a "reformation rate" but since practitioners firmly held their belief, a conflict existed between guards and practitioners, and the brutal torture escalated.
In the summer of 2000, more and more practitioners were sent to the forced labor camp, and were kept in buildings and old housing not up to code. Old chicken coops were used as small cells to torture practitioners. Cruel tortures like "Ground Ring" (4), "Big Hang Up (5)", and "feeding the mosquitoes" were inflicted every day...
My fellow practitioners, Ms. Wang Xiuying, Ms. Xu Hongmei, Ms. Liu Huijie, and I were all locked in the small cells. We had to eat, wash, sleep, and relieve ourselves, all inside those little old chicken coops. We were often pestered by mice, mosquitoes, and flies during the night. There was only one window with rusty bars, and hardly any glass.
Labor Camp Continued to Detain Practitioners After Their Sentences Had Expired
At the end of the fall of 2000 we, the practitioners who had been the first sentenced to forced labor, finished our sentences in succession. The authorities in the Qiqihar City Forced Labor Camp, however, violated the law while adhering to the policy, "Those who refuse to give up practicing Falun Gong will not be released."
We had repeatedly written letters to the labor camp heads Bai, Hong, and Dong, and to government officials at different levels, informing them that this was a blatant violation of the Chinese Constitution, and demanded an unconditional release. Our requests were refused. They periodically tried to interrogate us, to keep written records of the conversations. We refused to cooperate with them, but they filled in the documents anyway, disregarding the law. They also deprived us of our rights to see our family members who had come to visit us. One time a guard, with instructions from labor camp officials, came to talk to me, asking me if I wanted to get out and if I missed my child. I said I did. She said again, "If you refuse to be reformed, don't even think to ever get out of the forced labor camp. 'Reform' [signing statements guaranteeing to give up the practice of Falun Gong] is the only way out!"
Another time the labor camp authorities made an exception and allowed me to see my daughter who came to see me. She was no longer the small child who had had her hair in short braids and tearfully said goodbye to me in a detention center. She had grown up and become a young girl who appeared a little unfamiliar to me. She had already grown to be as tall as I was. Seeing my daughter gradually becoming mature and thinking that I was not beside her when she needed her mother's care and help most, and that she had endured such a heavy blow to her young mind, I felt very pained and my tears ran down... My daughter asked me why I did not go home, and she hoped that I could respond by writing to her.
I wrote to her, "It is not that your mother does not want to go home. It is the labor camp authorities who have violated the law and do not let me go home. I love you and our once very happy three-person family, but I cannot give up the principle of being a [good] person because of loving you!"
The Tiananmen Square "Self-Immolation" Was Staged by Jiang's Faction for the Purpose of Framing Falun Gong!
On the seventh day of the first month in the 2001 lunar calendar year, the labor camp played the staged Tiananmen Square "Self-Immolation" video tape event. After that, I wrote a truth-clarification article entitled, "Dear kind people; please keep your eyes open!" In the article I mentioned: For news, it should first be of the characteristics of being timely and truthful; but why was the Tiananmen Square "Self-Immolation," which had occurred on the last day of the last lunar year, broadcast on the seventh day of the first month? Why did the five persons [who were mentioned to have been involved in the incident] in the first airing of the incident become seven? What had the television staff been doing in these seven days? Were they doing the work of film editing, recording, or film-making? Why was Wang Jindong, who had claimed that he had cultivated in Falun Gong for many years and was about to become enlightened unable to double-cross his legs and merely able to assume an ordinary person's sitting posture? Why did he display an incorrect hand-conjoining gesture? This showed that Wang Jindong was not a Dafa practitioner and was just a layman whom others utilized. Wang's face was heavily burned, but why wasn't his hair burned, which easily catches fire? Why were the two plastic Sprite bottles between his legs that contained gasoline still intact under this very high temperature and heat? How could the little girl Liu Siying, who had just had a tracheotomy, sing a song when interviewed by reporters? Why did the police in Tiananmen Square carry fire extinguishers and fire-extinguishing blankets while they were on duty? Why could the photographer take good positions in such a "sudden event," to zoom in to focus on the incident and record the scene from a very high place?
All these were proof that the self-immolation incident was just a farce that Jiang's faction had staged for perpetuating their aggravated persecution of Falun Gong. We planned to send the article we were writing to the Minghui website and at the same time copy it and send it to the officials of various local governments, the division leaders and guards in Qiqihar City Forced Labor Camp and also to our family members, to clarify the facts regarding this incident! Because of this, the guards took away our paper and pens.
Qiqihar City Forced Labor Camp Utilized the Criminal Inmates to Try to Brainwash Falun Gong Practitioners with Despicable Means
After the "Self-Immolation" incident was played on television, the labor camp authorities increased their persecution. They put us into a solitary room and let the criminal inmates tightly control us. There were also five other rooms set up for brainwashing. Higher up in this building were the No.1 Division's solitary room and brainwashing cells. The practitioners who were put into the solitary cell had to live there and were totally isolated from the outside. In each brainwashing cell were several former practitioners who had been brainwashed. They and other criminal inmates tried to brainwash one non-yielding practitioner by forcing her to listen and watch those tapes and published materials that slander Falun Gong. They applied methods such as not allowing the practitioner to sleep and other despicable means to brainwash the practitioners. Brainwashing helpers Wang Yakun and Hao Shuhua sat on Falun Gong practitioner Liu Wenjun's body and pried her mouth open with a screwdriver. They then lied to people, saying that since Liu was sick. They forced her to take medicine and broke her teeth. They also strangled and beat her until she lost consciousness. Division leader Wang Xiaojuan called in a doctor to revive her.
I started to write to the labor camp leaders and all the guards in the No.1 and No. 2 Divisions. I told them sternly, "Freedom of belief is protected by law. Brainwashing violates the law! The inmates and the brainwashing helpers have no right to interfere with others' belief, no mention to aid and abet the guards to brainwash the practitioners. You have incited the criminal inmates and the brainwashing helpers in this labor camp to commit crimes! You have provided the means for them to commit these crimes. You have violated the law while enforcing it. You cannot be forgiven for these crimes! If you still have a human conscience and are truly responsible for the future and fate of China, you should stop deceiving people by broadcasting the false news that "a large number of Falun Gong practitioners, after 'education and persuasion,' have started over to be good persons." You should report the truth of these brainwashing events that are happening in this labor camp to the top officials and at the same time immediately stop the disgusting act of brainwashing!" All the practitioners in the room rightfully signed the letter.
This letter failed to make the guards restrain themselves. Division leader Zhao Lijuan tricked Wang Shuqin, an elderly, gray-haired Dafa practitioner from Daqing City, and made her come out of the solitary cell. Zhao then covered her mouth and dragged her into a brainwashing room. When the old woman became mentally traumatized from torture, she wrote down whatever they told her to write. But when the old woman regained her clear head, she immediately wrote down a solemn declaration, that what she had written was null and void. One day, when they did not watch the old woman, she ran back to our cell, barefooted. She held our hands, cried painfully and her eyes were full of tears...
To improve the reformation rate, the labor camp officials sent Dafa practitioners Cui Xuemin, Xu Jiayu, Sheng Yi, Wang Jinfan, Yang Shulan, Zhang Jiqiu and others to the Harbin City Drug Rehabilitation Center, to try to brainwash them there. The center used all kinds of despicable methods to abuse and mistreat them, including use of psychotropic drugs.
Twenty-Two Months of Illegal Detention Came to An End
In August 2001, because of practitioners' SOS rescue efforts and the kindhearted people around the world, Qiqihar City Forced Labor Camp, with pressure from the world media, started to release the practitioners who had finished their terms, including those who were still detained after their terms had expired. In the afternoon of August 13, 2001, Guard Xu called me out of the cell, took out from the warehouse a cotton bag, the only property I had, and told me that I was released. By then, my twenty-two month-long illegal detention came to an end.
I was first taken to a local police station. The police called my sister into another room and forced her to write a "guarantee letter" that she would assist the government to monitor me. After that, my sister took me to her home in her employee apartment building at Qiqihar University.
Since my husband had already remarried, I could no longer go back to my own home.
"610 Office" Violated the Constitution and Persecuted People in the Name of the State and Government
I returned to my work unit and cleaned the dust off my desk that had been accumulating for past two years, and then went to the accounting office to get my unpaid monthly basic living fee of 200 Yuan for the past two years. The accountant told me I needed to get permission from the head of the bureau. I went to find the head of the bureau named Fang. He told me that the district's "610 Office" said to not give me the money; they would use it if they had to go to Beijing to look for me. I told him, "It's a citizen's right whether or not to go to Beijing. It is not reasonable to withhold someone's living fee with such an excuse. Your father was persecuted during the Great Cultural Revolution. Now, how can you participate in a persecution? What these people in the "610 Office" said is not the Constitution. As the head of the bureau, you must take your responsibility and pay me back my basic living fee." Eventually, he agreed to pay me back the basic living fee, but not the salary for the past two years. I tried to reason with the municipal "610 Office" people and the municipal forced labor division, but to no avail.
One day, a fellow practitioner named Ms.Yang Shulan who was just released from a forced labor camp came to my work unit and told me in tears that her husband had lived with someone else for a long time and now had been forced to divorce her and leave home. She had no money and her work unit refused to pay her the unpaid back salary and cut off her retirement as well. The next day she called me and I rode a bike to deliver 500 Yuan to her. In less than three minutes after I walked into her house, Liu and Zhou from the district's "610 Office" and several women from the office fiercely rushed into the room and ordered her husband to force her to leave. They claimed she and I contacted each other conspiratorially and they would report this to the local police station. I said, "I come to give her money, not to conspire. If someone has difficulty, you should help them. Now I try to help her. It is a good thing. Do not put a label on me!"
Liu called me to my work unit after I came back and threatened me not to contact any other practitioners, otherwise... I said, "I can contact anybody within the rights granted by the Constitution." Liu said that the state did not allow Falun Gong members to have contact with each other. I said, "We are citizens. Freedom of contact with each other does not violate the law." The state has never publicly proclaimed that practitioners are not allowed to contact each other. It is Jiang's faction, in the name of the state and government that persecutes the people.
Local Police Chief Hu Bin Ordered Police to Ransack My Home and Abduct Me. They are the Reason I Fell from the Sixth Floor To Escape From the Persecution
My house phone was bugged; I was followed; the woman in Room 503 downstairs in collusion with persons from the Wenhua Road Police Station in the Jianhua District to monitor me. During the afternoon of October 22, 2001, led by the director of the Wenhua Road Police Station, Hu Bin, police officers Yao, Xu , Gao and the woman in Room 503 arrived at my apartment. They tried to force the lock on my door and kicked my door in a frenzy. They used four screwdrivers to try to break the door and scolded me nonstop. They disturbed all the neighbors. I tried to reason with them but it was no use. When they broke the small window on the security door and tried to reach a hand inside to open the door lock, I immediately went to the balcony and opened the window. When I slid down along a smoke pipe to the fourth floor, the cuts on my feet and hands made me lose control and I fell down to the ground. My blood splashed everywhere. They had to send me to the subsidiary of Qiqihar City's No.2 Hospital. When passers-by asked what was going on, the authorities made up a story and said I was insane due to practicing Falun Dafa. My hands and feet required several stitches and my feet were covered with bruises. X-ray showed that my spine was injured and one rib was broken. Wenhua Road Police Station personnel did not want to take responsibility and told Liu from the district "610 Office" to force me to sign the paper with the words, "Take full responsibility for myself," otherwise they would not let me go home. While I was being sent to the hospital, the evildoing police searched my apartment while no one in my family was at home. They made it a mess and left while the door lock was broken, the security door was damaged and nobody took care of my apartment.
I Left Home and Went into Exile Under the Threats and Harassment from People at the Wenhua Road Police Station and the District's "610 Office"
My younger sister and my work unit leaders got some people to carry me back home. I couldn't take care of myself. The next day, Gao from the police station came to take a statement and asked, "Why did you run when we knocked on your door?" I said, "It's not the knocking on the door but breaking down the door! Running is an instinct." He followed, "How is it called instinct?" I questioned him, "Would you not run if a fierce wolf came?" When he asked me to sign the statement he had written, I looked it over and found it was not true, so I tore it up. I sternly told him to stop harassing me and I would not cooperate with them, but would sue them. He said, "We decided to monitor you 24 hours a day."
The local police perpetrators and the district's "610 Office" enforcers often came to harass me. Zhou and a tall woman from the district's "610 Office" often came to my home. Zhou did not believe my injury and even checked it with his own hand. Once Zhou confirmed the injury to my backbone, she started to urge my family not to take care of me. Zhou loudly denounced me and stated my niece would not be allowed to take her college entrance exam because of me. They kept calling me every day to harass me.
Under such heavy pressure, my young sister eventually got sick and had to be given a daily intravenous drip. I did not want to trouble my sister anymore. I practiced the exercises every day and finally, thanks to the wonders of practicing Falun Dafa, I was able to hold onto a wall and stand up.
During a snowy day in December 2001, I left home quietly. I stepped on the thick snow and walked, crippled, one step after another with extreme pain. I walked out of the gate of the university and away from my hometown and my family. I was forced to live in exile.
Living the Life of a Wanderer, Homeless in the Land that I Love
After becoming homeless I felt mentally and physically exhausted and miserable. In a courier station in a strange city, looking at the stream of people passing by, I remembered my hometown and remembered my relatives and friends there; a sad feeling overtook me and tears filled my eyes... But then I had another thought - that millions of Dafa practitioners are taking the place of the fallen; that these practitioners are there for all living beings, to let them know not to be deceived by the lies, and to create a splendid future for all of them. I was then filled with endless strength, to expose the evil's lies and to let all the kind-hearted people learn the truth, and learn that Falun Dafa is great! That Falun Dafa is the righteous Fa!
Today I am still living in different places and without a regular income in the land that I deeply love as a result of police threats and harassment. I don't know where to go today and where I will be tomorrow. I am longing to go back to my hometown; longing to be with my relatives, and longing to returning to my work that I love. I deeply believe that the proper government administration organs can impartially enforce the law, will punish the wicked, encourage people to be kind and will aid justice in the world!
The Legal Basis of My Lawsuit:
I was sentenced to forced labor illegally, on fabricated charges, because I went to Beijing to appeal, which China's constitution guarantees as a citizen's basic right. The responsible government units include: Qiqihar City Police Department; Zhonghua Street Police Precinct in Qiqihar City; Qiqihar City Forced Labor Camp; the First Detention Center in Qiqihar City; Qiqihar City's "610 Office;" Jianhua District's "610 Office" in Qiqihar City.
The Qiqihar City Judicial Bureau has violated Article 36 of the CONSTITUTION OF THE PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF CHINA and many others. Article 36 reads, " Citizens of the People's Republic of China enjoy freedom of religion," and Article 35 which states "Citizens of the People's Republic of China enjoy freedom of speech, of the press, of assembly, of association, of procession and of demonstration." Also violated was Article 37 "The freedom of the person of citizens of the People's Republic of China is inviolable. Unlawful detention or deprivation or restriction of citizens freedom of the person by other means is prohibited..." Article 41 "Citizens of the People's Republic of China have the right to criticize and make suggestions regarding any state organ or functionary."
The Qiqihar City Judicial Bureau has also violated certain portions of the CRIMINAL LAW OF THE PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF CHINA, Articles 17, 251, 397, 399, and also specifics in the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS, Article 18: "Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion;" Article 9 "No one shall be subjected to arbitrary arrest, detention or exile" as well as the INTERNATIONAL COVENANT ON CIVIL AND POLITICAL RIGHTS, Article 19: "Everyone shall have the right to freedom of expression; this right shall include freedom to seek, receive and impart information and ideas of all kinds, regardless of frontiers, either orally, in writing or in print, in the form of art, or through any other media of his choice." The Qiqihar City Judicial Bureau has committed the crimes of depriving citizen's their right to religion, of abusing their authority, of bending the law for personal needs and statutes illegal detention.
The Qiqihar City Forced Labor Camp and the First Detention Center, Qiqihar City, used brutal methods to torture me; they have violated "the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS" Article 5: "No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment," and have violated CRIMINAL LAW OF THE PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF CHINA Articles 248. They have committed the crimes of torturing and abusing inmates.
The Qiqihar City Forced Labor Camp detained me beyond the term of the sentence; they have violated the CRIMINAL LAW OF THE PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF CHINA Articles 4 and Article 238, and also Article 4 of the Enforced Nine Articles by Supreme People's Prosecutor. They have committed the crime of "unlawful detention beyond term."
The director of the Wenhua Road Police Precinct in Qiqihar City, Hu Bin, and officers Yao, Xu, Gao and "the king of lock pickers" broke into my residence with violent methods to search and abduct me, making me fall from the 6th floor and seriously injuring me; they damaged my burglar-proof door. They have violated the CONSTITUTION OF THE PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF CHINA Article 39 and the CRIMINAL LAW OF THE PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF CHINA Article 245, which reads: "The residences of citizens of the People's Republic of China are inviolable. Unlawful search of, or intrusion into, a citizen's residence is prohibited." They have committed crimes of illegal search and seizure an illegal intrusion into a citizen's residence.
The Qiqihar City Daily Newspaper, Qiqihar City Television Station, and the Qiqihar City Broadcasting Station blatantly twisted the facts in their newspaper and their TV and audio broadcasts. They fabricated and spread lies, attacked and defamed my reputation; they have violated the CONSTITUTION OF THE PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF CHINA, Article 38 and the CRIMINAL LAW OF THE PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF CHINA, Article 16, the INTERNATIONAL COVENANT ON CIVIL AND POLITICAL RIGHTS, Article 17. They have committed the crime of defamation.
Qiqihar City "610 Office" and Qiqihar City Jianhua District "610 Office" are illegal organizations. They have no right to interfere with state policy, and they have no right to interfere with personal belief! In spite of this, these organizations dominate above the constitution, the public security system, the prosecutor and the judicial system; they instruct and pressure various government organs to persecute Falun Gong and Falun Gong Practitioners. They have persecuted many people in Qiqihar City areas which resulted in their deaths; caused countless families to break up; orphaned many children who lost their maternal love and devastated their minds; countless good people have been sentenced to imprisonment and forced labor; and countless have been forced to leave home to avoid the persecution. The members of this organization have committed crimes including genocide, crimes against humanity and torture.
Liu Zhou from the Jianhua District "610 Office" in Qiqihar City, Feng from the government office in Qiqihar City, Fu Zhongqi from the Zhonghua Street Office, retired woman Ding Wenli from the Jianhua District and the woman in apt. 503 at a floor below my sister's apartment followed me, monitored and harassed me; these people have violated the CONSTITUTION OF THE PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF CHINA, Article 38: "The personal dignity of citizens of the People's Republic of China is inviolable." The UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS, Article 5: "No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment." The CRIMINAL LAW OF THE PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF CHINA, Article 246: "Those openly insulting others using force or other methods or those fabricating stories to slander others ..." They have committed the crime of personal insult.
In view of the fact that Qiqihar City Police Department, the Zhonghua Street Police Station in Qiqihar City, the Qiqihar City Forced Labor Camp, the First Detention Center in Qiqihar City, the Wenhua Road Police Station in Qiqihar City, Qiqihar City "610 Office," Jianhua District "610 Offices" and Qiqihar City Siyou Chemical Plant and all personnel who participated in the abuses under this persecution have committed the above crimes, I request compensation according to the LAW OF THE PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF CHINA ON STATE COMPENSATION.

Notes:
(1) Being locked up in a small cell: The detainee is locked up in a very small cell individually. The guards handcuff practitioners on their back in a fixed position, in which the practitioners can neither move nor lie down. The small cell is very damp and no sunshine comes in. Detainees have to urinate and defecate in the cell. Only half of a regular meal is served to detainees locked up in a small cell during the daytime. During the night the rats are running around. The stench in the small cell is so bad that it is difficult to breathe.
(2) Being cuffed and suspended from the cuffs: With both hands cuffed, both feet off or only toes touching the ground, one is hung onto the basketball support or the beam of the house by the handcuff. The hands and arms quickly become lifeless and numb.
(3) Prolonged squatting: The practitioner is confined to a squatting position where he/she is unable to move. The victim is forced to squat for a very long time, and the torture will not be stopped until he or she develops a severe, life-threatening body reaction or emergency.
(4) Ground Ring: Practitioners are cuffed onto metal rings mounted in the ground for a long time.
(5) Big Hang Up: There are two forms of this torture: (1) With both hands cuffed behind the back and only the toes touching the ground, one is hung by a rope that is tied to the metal window frames; (2) One hand of a practitioner is cuffed to one bunk bed and the other hand to another bed, and the two beds are pulled in opposite directions. One feels extreme pain as the body is pulled.
I am 56 years old and started to practice Falun Dafa in 1996, in order to improve my health and morality and to be a good person. Prior to that, I suffered from more than ten diseases. The most serious one was the heart disease which prevented me from walking in the hot summer or cold winter. I was always short of breath and lacked oxygen. Sometimes, it caused heart problems and I had to be taken to the emergency room. My life was always at risk. During those years, one day seemed to last forever and I always felt depressed, ill tempered, and was driven to despair because of my disease. I went to many doctors and even begged Buddha to give me better health. I even went to a temple and converted to Buddhism, but nothing worked. Yet, I always believed in the karmic relationship that good actions bring forth good results and wrongdoing brings forth punishment.
Fortunately, in 1996, I received the great book Zhuan Falun. The profound theories and principles contained in the book allowed me to understand the truth about life. From then on, I always conducted myself strictly according to the criteria of Falun Dafa, "Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance". My body and mind were purified. It was as if a withering plant had been watered. My entire body and mind was changed and I felt that Falun Dafa gave me a new life.
By cultivating and practicing Falun Dafa, people can improve their physical and mental health, as well as refine their moral character. Bad people can change their ways and become good. Following the universal principles of Truth, Compassion, Tolerance helps people learn that good deeds bring rewards and bad deeds bring punishment.
Out of envy and selfishness, Jiang Zemin, launched his crackdown and propaganda campaign attacking Falun Gong, on July 20th 1999, and began to persecute practitioners, having them arrested or their homes searched. I took it as my responsibility, as a person who benefited from Falun Dafa, to ask for justice for Falun Dafa and to validate the Fa by explaining the facts. Premier Zhu Rongji stated at the "Two Congressional Conferences" in March 2003, that people who came to Beijing to explain the facts were welcome. Since the Appeals Office is located in Beijing, I went to Beijing. As soon as I got off the bus at Qianmeng in Beijing, I noticed a lot of policemen at Tiananmen Square. I heard the sounds of policemen, street cops and secret agents who were beating and screaming at people as well as the sounds of police cars. One policeman asked me, "Are you a Falun Gong practitioner?" I answered, "Yes." I was pushed into a police car immediately. Right here, in our nation's capital that is so admired by most people, policemen are allowed to beat and insult Falun Gong practitioners but do not allow them to tell the truth. If you tell the truth, you will be severely beaten and detained illegally.
I was detained in the Qiaoling police station for 15 days. When I was released, the director the police station and policeman Dingxian, pulled me into the door of my house. They were trying to extort 3,000 Yuan from me without a receipt. I refused to open the door. They became angry, borrowed a ladder from my neighbor and jumped into my yard. They searched my house, opened every closet and box, but did not find any money. Then they stole my color TV set. From then on, they kept trying to blackmail me. People would always come to my house or call me, which greatly disturbed my daily life.
On June 24th 2000, one of our female friends came to our house for a visit. Policeman Sang and several other police officers surrounded the whole area and began to search my house. Officer Li Gang stole my motorbike. All of my neighbors witnessed how outrageously they behaved and I was again illegally detained for 45 days. During my detention, I wrote an appeal letter to make a report to the relevant government agencies, which aggravated police officer Sang who then began to harass me even more seriously.
In the night of October 2000, around 10 pm, it was raining. Suddenly, I heard that someone was knocking on the door in a great hurry. I did not open the door because I was alone at home. I walked out of the main room and told them, "If you have something to say, please come back tomorrow." Then, I heard some people shouting on the roof of my neighbor's house. It was police officer Sang who was just climbing over the wall and breaking into my yard. I started to shout loudly immediately. My neighbors drove him away. Sang became angry. He then ordered some young policemen to break the chain at my door and entered my house. They rushed into my room while Sang stayed outside, using his cell phone to send commands to police officers Zhang Bin and Li Gang. They dragged me out of the door from my bed and my foot was wounded severely and began to bleed in the process. I loudly cried for help but they still just kept dragging me. I was only wearing a shirt and it was cold and raining. My whole body became drenched in mud and dirty water. My upper body was exposed when they dragged me by my shirt. Due to the intense disapproval of my neighbors, they finally gave up dragging me. It was a shame that policemen mistreated a woman in her fifties! They did not even wear their uniforms or show their badges but dared to break the door of other people's house at night. I was illegally detained for 30 days.
During the night of January 24th (lunar calendar) 2001, police officer Zhang Bin and other policemen searched my house. Again, I was illegally detained for 15 days. After I was released, on March 8th, I was arrested for the fifth time at work by some of the officials in my company who, in collusion with the director of the police station, Wang Yazhou, pretended that they wanted to compensate me for my motorbike. The director told me, "Please do not come to our company any longer. If you are arrested, our company will also get in trouble." This is how I lost my job.
During my detention in 2000, two rooms on the west side of my house collapsed in a heavy rain and I was unable to rebuild them. However, I could not go back home even if I had still had a house. To sustain my living, I had to sell the remaining two main rooms and rent a room in Jiancai Street. Around 11 pm on September 8th, staff from the "610 Office" arrested me for the sixth time. With the help of friends, I escaped. My landlord was terrified, though, and I lost my home. Sometimes, I slept outside in a field.
Over the past few years, Jiang's machine of terror has persecuted me more and more severely and I can no longer meet with my family members and have lost contact with my classmates and friends. Officers from the "610 Office" have even searched for me in my relative's houses. In addition, there were always plain clothes police stationed at the door of my house. To make a living, I had to move somewhere else.
On May 30th 2002, in Fuyang City, You Yurong from the "610 Office" arrested me for the seventh time. They detained me in the Guoyang Xinle Hotel and began to torture me psychologically. Eight police officers took shifts to monitor me and deprived me of sleep. My two hands were handcuffed. Four female police officers monitored me, even when I only went to wash my hands. Wang Jiushan and Shi Xinming abused me with foul language. Their behavior was immoral and inhumane. They forced me to admit to false evidence they made up themselves. I said, "No! You may take my life but I will never give up my belief [in Falun Dafa]. Compassion will meet rewards and bad deeds will be punished some day!" Yuan Lei and Shi Xinming said that they were willing to be punished and they were not afraid of going to hell. Police officer Yuan Lei, only gave me some dry food without porridge. They wouldn't allow me to go get my own water. Instead, they poured the water for me to drink using some disposable cups from outside the Hotel. The more I drank from the cup, the thirstier I felt. I felt a bitter taste on my tongue and experienced some acid reflux. My esophagus hurt badly and it seemed that many knifes were cutting it. My head became heavy and painful such that I could hardly bear the pain. I have no idea what drug they put in those cups. What an inhumane and vicious method of torture!
I was tortured until I almost lost consciousness. Even when I was dizzy, I could hear them shouting. After the mental torture had lasted for seven nights and eight days, they accomplished their goals of fabricating charges against me using fake evidence and illegal methods. On the afternoon of June 6th, I was sent to the Guoyang Detention Center. On June 13th 2003, I was sent back to the Haozhou Detention Center.
During all these years, I was detained illegally several times because I persisted in my firm belief. My house was searched and I lost my home. I cannot go to work and could not go back home even if I still had a house. As a result, wherever I went, I told people what I have suffered and let them know that we are innocent and remind them to be good persons. We are innocent and only want to cultivate "Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance".
(Note from the editors: On September 8th and 9th, 2003, the Qiaocheng District Court conducted a secret trial of 18 practitioners including Ma Yuxia who was sentenced illegally to 7 years in prison.)

(Clearwisdom.net) In the past two months, practitioners have been continuously clarifying truth to all circles of Manhattan about the brutal persecution of Falun Gong in China. On September 22, while the 59th UN conference opened at its headquarter in New York, nearly one thousand practitioners rallied at UN Plaza. After a large group practice and a press conference, practitioners formed a "Great Wall of Courage" on the 3rd avenue of Manhattan to further call upon people support to end the persecution.

At 9am, practitioners started a group practice at the UN Plaza. Since Jiang regime started this persecution 5 years ago, practitioners have come to the Plaza numerous times to expose the persecution and call for justice. As always, the solemn practice scene demonstrated their peace and firmness.

At 10:30, a press conference to "Rescue children victimized by the persecution of Falun Gong" started.
Since Jiang Zemin launched the persecution in 1999, at least 1049 practitioners have been persecuted to death for appealing for justice for Falun Gong. Countless people have been illegally sent to labor camps, sentenced to prison terms, etc. Tens of thousands have been severely tortured for exposing the severity of the persecution. According to incomplete statistics, from July 1999 to September 2004, on average 17 practitioners died as a result of torture and abuse every month with about 51% female and 48% male (As a result of information being blocked, the gender of the remaining 1% have not been identified.) The average age of the victims were 45 years old and many of them were parents of young children who have now been orphaned and living without support.
The press conference called upon people to help rescue the children who are being fiercely persecuted in China either due to their parents or themselves practicing Falun Gong. Practitioner Jane Dai and her daugher Fadu shared their story: When Fadu was only 6 months old, her farther was killed as a result of torture for refusing to renounce Falun Gong, by authorities following Jiang's persecution policies. Since then, Fadu and her mother have traveled to 38 countries to expose the persecution. Practitioner Amy Lee was also persecuted in China and had been forced to separate from her daughter for two years. These true stories revealed how much suffering and damage the brutal persecution had brought to innocent practitioners.
Practitioner Xuefei Zhou, who was recently rescued to the U.S. from China, gave her personal testimony to the persecution that she had experienced in a labor camp. She also thanked Americans for rescuing her. Ms. Zhou's case and many others tell us that voices of justice indeed can help to restrain and eventually end the persecution.
Many reporters from various media asked the questions of why Jiang and his political followers view Falun Gong as a threat and why practitioners under persecution refuse to give up their belief.
Before the press conference ended, host Al Whitted emphasized again: Practitioners are neither against China nor the Chinese government, but only against this persecution.

The Great Wall of Courage
From noon to 2pm, with small banners such as "Help End the Persecution of Falun Gong" and "Falun Dafa is Good" and various truth-clarifying posters as well as their firm belief and unyielding spirit, practitioners formed a "Great Wall of Courage" on the 3rd avenue from 43 to 57 st. Now and then, some passersby stopped to talk with practitioners to learn more.
Norma is a junior student of Cornell University and her sister Jennifer is a high school student. Together with their mother, they drove 4 hours to Manhattan to join this activity. When asked why they would come, the said that they wanted more people to know the facts about Falun Gong. "In April, the motion condemning China's human rights brought up by U.S. was tabled again because of interference from Jiang's faction. Now the UN is holding its annual conference in New York and officials from all nations have come to Manhattan, we hope that our activity can help more people to pay close attention to the persecution of innocent practitioners in China and help end it ASAP." The sisters said. When asked whether or not their trip to New York City would affect their studies, they said: "It won't. We will catch up after we get back."

Dr. Guofeng Chen is from Taiwan and he said that he would stay in New York City for the entire week to clarify truth to New Yorkers. According to him, about 200 Taiwan practitioners came to help during this week. Dr. Chen and other Taiwan practitioners said: "We are all Chinese and have the same origin as our Mainland fellow practitioners. We study the same Fa and practice the same exercises. We can freely practice Falun Gong in Taiwan and benefit from Falun Gong, while our fellow practitioners are being persecuted in Mainland by Jiang's faction. We can't pay a blind eye to this. We must let more people know the persecution and its brutality. The more people know the truth, the sooner the persecution will be ended. With this heart-felt wish, many Taiwan practitioners came to U.S. to clarify truth though our financial situation isn't so good. We just want to make our contribution to end this persecution."

Anti-torture Exhibition
The Anti-torture exhibition is a new method practitioners adopted this year to expose the persecution and explain the facts of the persecution of Falun Gong. By using real-life models to reenact torture methods employed by Jiang and his political followers, though it is still a far cry from the real brutality, many spectators have been deeply touched.
During this week, practitioners will have 8-9 exhibitions at different sites everyday and the impact so far has been very good.

NEW YORK - More than 1000 Falun Gong practitioners from across the nation and as far away as Taiwan and Australia assembled in front of United Nations headquarters in New York City to call for an end to the persecution of Falun Gong in China.
As heads of state from around the world gathered for the 59th Annual General Assembly debate, Falun Gong practitioners also gathered to raise awareness of the five-year long crackdown on Falun Gong in China, which has seen hundreds of thousands of Chinese practitioners arrested, incarcerated in slave labor camps, and tortured; many have been tortured to death. Because of the Chinese government's stranglehold on Chinese media, and its enormous influence on Western media covering China, many people still do not know Falun Gong is or what is happening in China.
Falun Gong is a meditation and exercise practice based on the principles of Truth, Compassion, and Tolerance. When a 1999 government survey revealed that 70-100 million Chinese were practicing, far outnumbering Communist Party membership, then-dictator Jiang Zemin, acting against the advice of many in government, ordered a nationwide crackdown aimed at eradicating Falun Gong in China, coupled with a worldwide propaganda effort aimed at vilifying Falun Gong in order to justify the increasing violence of the persecution.

The Falun Gong practitioners displayed banners and posters calling for an end to the persecution and displaying some of the torture methods used on practitioners in China, as well as photos of practitioners who had been tortured and murdered. Practitioners also demonstrated the exercises and sat peacefully in meditation.
The rally began with a press conference featuring many practitioners who have directly experienced the persecution in China.

One such speaker was Jane Dai, whose husband was murdered by the Chinese government because he wrote a letter asking the government to reconsider its decision to outlaw Falun Gong. Mrs. Dai and her infant daughter Fadu fled to Australia, and now travel the world telling their story in an effort to prevent more loss of life.
Also speaking was Amy Lee. Ms. Lee was arrested, tortured and forced into slave labor in a Chinese prison for practicing Falun Gong. Her husband was forced to divorce her, and after she was released from prison, she was forced to flee the country, leaving behind her ex-husband and young daughter, to avoid re-arrest and possible death from torture.

Also present was Yeong Ching Foo, fiancée of American Dr. Charles Lee. Dr. Lee has been in prison in China since January 22, 2003, because of his practice of Falun Gong. Dr. Lee was arrested as soon as he set foot on the ground in Guangzhou airport in China, and has been abused, force-fed, and subjected brainwashing while in detention. After the press conference, practitioners formed the "Great Wall of Courage" in tribute the practitioners in China who refuse to renounce the practice and its values despite duress. Stretching all the way to 58th street, the line of practitioners in their trademark yellow t-shirts formed a colorful contrast to the grim tale told by the pictures they carried, depicting scenes of the persecution.
In the afternoon, practitioners set up several Anti-torture Exhibits throughout the downtown area. The tableaux graphically depict the various abuses used against practitioners in China. Meanwhile, practitioners distributed information and answered the many questions of the curious passersby, and also demonstrated the five Falun Gong exercises.
The Falun Gong practitioners have displays and other events planned for the rest of the week throughout the downtown area.

(Clearwisdom.net) My name is Xiong Jun. I am a Chinese Falun Gong practitioner married to a Canadian man and residing in Toronto, Canada. The Chinese Consulate in Toronto put me on the list of "political dissidents" because I practice Falun Gong. I discovered this fact in September 2002 when I tried to renew my Chinese passport. The consulate took the opportunity to threaten me to renounce Falun Gong in exchange for the renewal of my passport. When I firmly refused to give in to their demand, they deprived me of my civil rights as a Chinese citizen to have a valid Chinese passport. Since then, I became a Chinese citizen residing outside China but without a valid Chinese passport.
Around 11:30 a.m. on September 13, 2002, I arrived at the Chinese Consulate in Toronto and applied for the extension of my passport. The staff at the consulate gave me a receipt and asked me to return after 3:00 p.m. to pick up my renewed passport.
Around noon that day, I received a phone call. The caller did not say anything, but I heard him speaking to someone else, "She probably went out to practice Falun Gong again." Then the caller hung up the phone. I recognized from the voice that the caller was the man giving me the receipt at the consulate.
Two minutes later, the same man called me again. This time he spoke to me, "There is no need for you to come to the consulate this afternoon because your passport is not ready yet. We have encountered technical difficulties with our machine. We will call you when we have completed your application." I asked him, "When do you expect to finish my application?" "It's difficult to say. Just wait for our call."
Two weeks later, I went to the consulate accompanied by my immigration attorney. The receptionist at the consulate refused to speak English. Clearly she did not want to speak to my attorney. My attorney asked the receptionist in English (paraphrasing): "Exactly what type of problem are you experiencing? How much longer do we need to wait to get a renewed passport? Why are you delaying the process of her passport renewal application?" The receptionist refused to acknowledge the attorney and told me in Chinese, "You should not bring an attorney here. You should resolve this problem on your own. You must wait. You must wait for news from China."
After several weeks, my immigrations attorney repeatedly called and faxed his inquiries to the consulate, but the consulate did not make any kind of acknowledgement. On October 9, 2002, my immigrations attorney and I went to the consulate again, but the staff at the consulate refused to speak to my attorney again. Finally, a Chinese official in the consulate asked my immigrations attorney on November 5, 2002 to call the Consulate and make an appointment for a meeting.
After I arrived at the Chinese Consulate on November 5, I was received by a male and a female staff person. The very first thing they asked me is: "Do you 'still' practice Falun Gong?" My answer was of course affirmative. Next they announced, "Okay. We have already received an official notice from the Chinese government. The fact that you practice Falun Gong makes you a dissident of the Chinese government. Falun Gong is a (slanderous words omitted) that rebels against the Chinese government and slanders the reputation of the China. We will not renew the passport of a dissident."
I started to tell them facts about Falun Gong, but they refused to listen and shut themselves out completely from the truth. The man said, "There is no use saying anything to me. As long as you practice Falun Gong, we will not renew your passport because it is against Chinese law to practice Falun Gong." [Note: On the contrary, the Chinese Constitution warrants each Chinese citizen the freedom of spiritual belief. It is by no means violating any Chinese law to practice Falun Gong, a spiritual belief based on the three principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance.] He added, "This is all I have to say to you. The Chinese government has given all Chinese embassies and consulates worldwide a specific order: Do not renew the passports of those who practice Falun Gong." I asked the man, "Since you have accused me of violating the Chinese law by practicing Falun Gong, I would like to know exactly which Chinese law I have violated. Since you said it is specified that a Chinese citizen must not practice Falun Gong, please show me a copy of the Chinese laws and point out to me which law you are referring to. Besides, you said you have received an official notice from the Chinese government concerning my passport renewal application. An official notice must have come in the form of a letter or a legal document, stating clearly the reason of the rejection. As an applicant of a renewed Chinese passport, I am entitled to receive a copy of the official notice. Where is the official notice?" They refused to produce the alleged "official notice" and refused to answer my questions.
I left China for Belgium and then moved from Belgium to Canada. I have never violated any laws inside or outside of China. The Chinese Consulate has no right to deprive me of my right as a Chinese citizen to have a valid Chinese passport to travel outside China. Then I remembered the first phone call I received from the consulate. How did they know that I practice Falun Gong when I applied for the renewal of my passport? I imagine that they must have collected my name through their overseas network of intelligence. The Chinese embassies and consulates around the world have been helping to compile a list of Falun Gong practitioners outside of China and to persecute them.
I am ashamed of my own government for their behavior. My husband Joel Chipkar and I both feel that the Canadian government ought to safeguard her dignity and principles by preserving the human rights on Canadian soil. I would like to ask everyone in Canada to stand up and protest the Jiang Zemin regime's violations of Falun Gong practitioners' human rights to make it clear to Jiang Zemin's regime that they cannot violate the Chinese and international laws or conduct depraving business on Canadian soil and hope to get away with it.
I would like to take this opportunity and explain to everyone who reads my story that my fellow Falun Gong practitioners and I are not revealing the Jiang Zemin regime's crimes against Falun Gong just to defend our freedom of spiritual belief in Falun Gong, but for all the Chinese people, mankind and future generations. Jiang Zemin has not only violated such jus cogens as genocide and torture, he has violated the core of jus cogens -- norms which comprise the very basis and foundation of the legal and moral order of mankind. In exposing and refusing to succumb to the Jiang Zemin regime's crimes against jus cogens, we hope to remind everyone of the significance of the legal and moral order of mankind and that the basis and foundation of the legal and moral order of mankind must not be compromised.

New oriental practice gains adherents all around the world

The practitioners of this technique practice together in parks, and teach it for free to new people who are interested in learning. This has generated a worldwide movement, but in China the practitioners are persecuted by the authorities.
Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch and the United Nations are only a few of the organizations at the international level that have launched campaigns to stop the persecution in China of the practitioners of this discipline known as Falun Dafa.
This oriental practice consists of five simple exercises based on three principles: Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance. In China it gained adherents in about 8% of the population, who in 1999 began to be detained after the practice was declared illegal [...] by the Chinese authorities.
The death of some of the practitioners in addition to the growing number of adherents of the discipline in more that sixty countries has also generated the emergence of true 'Ambassadors' who inform the public about the situation. In Chile, Pía María Sandas, a Finnish ex-model and current executive of the cosmetic company Isadora, is visiting our country to raise awareness about Falun Dafa.
"The husband of one of my friends, Jane Dai, was abducted and killed in China for defending the practice, and Jane is now traveling all around the world to inform people about the situation in China".
The executive comments that, "At an international level, campaigns have also been carried out by, for example, Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch. One of the theories as to why Falun Dafa is persecuted in China was the ever increasing number of practitioners getting together in parks. "There were thousands upon thousands," says the young lady.
History of the discipline
Falun Dafa, also known as Falun Gong, has been practiced for some time in Chile under the name qigong. Sometimes it is called Chinese yoga, since it is somewhat similar to that practice. It was introduced to the public in 1992, when Teacher Li Hongzhi compiled the physical exercises and teachings in two texts and participated in an exposition on oriental disciplines.
The fundamentals of Falun Dafa indicate, in addition, that if a person lives in harmony with their body and soul it is reflected in their personal health, and also in the improvement of their relationship with their environment.
"In fact, I have experienced this process. Practicing the discipline I began to think about how I am and I began to realize how intolerant we sometimes are with other people", says Pia-Maria.
Falun Dafa is freely taught in public parks
One of the key aspects of the discipline is that, as with yoga, its exercises have proven to be effective in relaxing those who practice it, reducing muscular and emotional tension. The practice is free of charge: practitioners and interested persons gather in public parks, where they practice the exercises together. The books about the principles of the practice can be downloaded for free from the Internet.

Promoting Falun Dafa in Mt. Druitt

September 18, 2004, was the Spring Festival in the town of Mt. Druitt. People from the surrounding suburbs came to the festival. Mt. Druitt is the largest suburb of the city of Blacktown. Blacktown has developed quickly over the recent decade and the population has reached 270,000 with 30 different cultures represented. The immigrants are mostly from Asia, Africa, South America and Eastern Europe. Blacktown is only 35 km from Sydney, and was an impoverished rural area a century ago but it has now become an important industrial city.
In the morning, the stage was set up on the plaza at the town shopping center. Groups representing the many different cultures performed one after one. Crowds of people filled the plaza. Falun Gong practitioners from west Sydney also participated in the festival. The contact person for the Falun Gong group said that this was their fifth time to be invited to the event.
At 9 a.m., the practitioners set up the information table and began to practice the exercises. Soon, the event host spoke through the microphone telling people the direction of the Falun Dafa information table and that they could sign their names there to support Falun Dafa. Many people came to see our display boards and some asked questions. The practitioners answered their questions and clarified the truth about the persecution. When people understood the nature of the persecution of Falun Gong in China, they picked up pens to sign their names on the petition form.
An older couple from Fujian Province in China began to practice Falun Gong in 1994. In July 2000, they came to Australia to visit their son. They can only speak a few English words but this doesn't stop them from clarifying the truth. They held an informational board in one hand and a signature collection form in the other hand. They showed people the pictures first. The people who understood the truth would sign their names on the form. The elderly couple collected 240 signatures during the event.
The Ryde Dragon Boat Race

On Sunday September 18, the Ryde City government held the annual "Ryde Dragon Boat Race" on the Parramatta River. The city of Ryde is in the district of Prime Minister Howard. The national election is approaching, so Prime Minister Howard is very active in local events during his campaign. At 9:30 a.m., the prime minister came to the dragon boat race in person and gave the opening speech.
Australians like water sports and many families came to the event. The Sydney Falun Gong practitioners also applied to participate in the event to introduce Falun Dafa, collect signatures, demonstrate the exercises and teach Falun Gong.
Around 1 p.m. in the afternoon, the host introduced Falun Dafa to visitors and invited the people to learn more about what was happening in China.
Lugarno Spring Festival in South Sydney
Hurstville is close to the international airport at the south of Sydney. Many Chinese choose to live here, especially businessmen. The Chinese culture has rooted deeply in this area. The town of Lugarno is within the City of Hurstville. The Spring Festival has been organized by the Lugarno Lion's Club for the past 25 years. There was also an antique car parade, a multi-cultural show and food market. The event attracts between 20,000 to 30,000 people every year.
Falun Gong practitioners were invited to this event for the third year in a row. Practitioners chose to use large display boards explaining about the persecution in China. They also displayed The Journey of Falun Dafa pictures. The photo exhibit was very effective. Many people who looked at the pictures could hardly believe that such tortures were still happening in China. They asked a lot of questions and the practitioners answered them. After they learned the truth, people signed their names to support the petition to end the persecution. Groups of high school students came to see the photo exhibition and asked for the locations of free Falun Gong exercise teaching classes.

On the float, four Falun Gong practitioners demonstrated the exercises and two practitioners performed a fan dance to the music "Pu Du," winning rounds of applause and cheers. Many people took photos of them. Some people simulated the exercise movements while watching practitioners demonstrating the exercises. People were in a festive mood, and many took the initiative to request materials that introduce Falun Dafa while watching the parade.
Prior to the parade, Colorado State Representative Frank Weddig's float was behind Falun Dafa practitioners' float. He had a warm conversation with practitioners and had a photo taken with them. During the parade, Colorado Congressman Bob Beauprez's float was just ahead of the practitioners' float. After the parade, he also talked with and had a photo taken with practitioners.
(Clearwisdom.net) In China today, people are spreading the following phrase: "In the past, bandits were found in remote mountains. Now they are found in the Public Security System." Some people even refer to them as the "evil police". We have to think about who turned the police, whose job is to protect the safety of the people, into bandits.
The brutal crimes committed against the appealers, discharged workers, people with different views [from the government], and especially the plight of Falun Gong practitioners are being exposed to the world. The facts are also widely being disseminated throughout China, and more and more people are beginning to realize the evil deeds done by Jiang's faction.
During the 5-year persecution of Falun Gong, those policemen used as beating and killing machines under the Jiang regime's policy of genocide are the direct murderers. To this day, they have tortured 1038 Falun Gong practitioners to death. Hundreds of thousands of practitioners have been illegally sent to labor camps. Thousands of others have been illegally sentenced to prison. Even more practitioners have been kidnapped, brainwashed, or forced to leave home. Those who have been affected are more than 100 million. So many people are still suffering from the persecution. How can they easily forget this?
In launching the crackdown against Falun Gong, Jiang's faction has brutally attacked practitioners who live by the principle "Truth, Compassion, Tolerance" making those principles illegal. On the other hand, the crackdown has promoted widespread corruption, lack of restraint among the police, and an atmosphere of terror which has destroyed the remaining bit of morality in many people's hearts. It took advantage of some policemen's and officials' selfish desire and their greedy pursuit of money and power, and combined this with threats and inducements to manipulate them to betray their conscience and help a tyrant do evil.
Jiang's faction connects economic interests and job security to the degree of cruelty demonstrated against Falun Gong practitioners. There is a detailed list in terms of how much of a bonus award a policeman can achieve for forcing practitioners to renounce Falun Gong, arresting practitioners, etc. On the other hand, if practitioners go to Beijing to appeal, certain officials in that region will lose their jobs, etc. Jiang's circle's secret orders such as the "death of Falun Gong practitioners from beating is nothing and shall be counted as suicide," "the body shall be directly cremated without investigating the person's identification," gave many wrongdoing police a false sense of security. They then totally disregarded the law, justice and their consciences, using the excuse of "following higher authority's orders." As long as there is a profit to be made for persecuting Falun Gong practitioners, they ignore the real criminal cases such as murder and arson, but beat, arrest, ransack, fine, kidnap, brainwash, and torture the innocent practitioners, to the extent that they stop at no evil. When questioned by practitioners, many police say words to the effect of, "Jiang pays me, so if he wants me to kill people, I kill."
Every day in these past five years, there has been news of the brutal persecution of practitioners coming from Mainland China. In labor camps, prisons or police stations, in order to achieve a good "transformation rate" [1] and earn bonuses, many police brutally torture innocent practitioners. From the list of cases that are continually being exposed, one can see the over 100 cruel torture methods used which include electric shocks, burning, Tiger Bench, [2] digging sharp bamboo sticks into the fingers, etc. Many don't want to believe it, but this is truly happening in China every day.
The notorious Su Jing, director of the infamous Masanjia Forced Labor Camp once ordered 18 female Falun Gong practitioners to be thrown naked into a men's cell. She is largely responsible for many of the cruel deaths suffered by practitioners there. Yet, she is favored by Jiang Zemin. Along with being proclaimed a model leader and receiving large bonuses, she has also given many lectures sharing her experiences on the methods of persecuting Falun Gong practitioners.
Of course, there are many fair police officers at various levels of China's law enforcement, and they have refused to join this brutality. Some even try to help the oppressed resist the persecution and they will be remembered favorably in history. As for those police who followed Jiang and joined the persecution, their fate is assured as well. Despite the cover-ups and elaborate excuses, history will ultimately hold them responsible for all that they have done.

[1] Transformation rate: This refers to the number of people who are "transformed" by being forced to give up their practice of Falun Gong.
[2] Tiger bench: Prisoners are forced to sit on a small iron bench that is approximately 20 cm (6 inches) tall with their knees tied together. With their hands tied behind their backs or sometimes placed on their knees, they are forced to sit straight up and look straight ahead without movement for long periods of time.

Bill Xia of DIT says that on September 15 a volunteer working with DynaWeb noticed that Google's Chinese news was returning different results depending on whether the search was conducted in China or in the United States.
Bill Xia, CEO of Dynamic Internet Technology (DIT), a company which runs services aimed at allowing Chinese people to access unfiltered news, says Google is helping Chinese authorities to maintain an online "matrix" that keeps people from finding out what's happening outside the country's borders.
DIT was founded in 2001 to provide low-cost, reliable Internet services for people living under repressive regimes such as China's. DIT's DynaWeb is a constantly updated, free proxy network designed to circumvent Internet blocking.
Xia told me that on September 15 a volunteer working with DynaWeb noticed that Google's Chinese news was returning different results depending on whether the search was conducted in China or in the United States.
Blocked Web Sites
"We were able to confirm this report through proxies in China," says Xia. "Search results inside China do not contain news from blocked sites such as www.epochtimes.com.au."
He says the search started with a news.google.com search on the name of a Chinese poet living in America. In the U.S. it returned three entries, two from epochtimes.com.au and one from chinesenewsnet.com.
But, Xia says, "When we used a proxy in China to simulate the search from inside China, zero results were returned." The search was made at 5:50 p.m. Eastern time on September 16. Other keywords were tested as well.
Google Responds
A Google spokeswoman told me, "In order to create the best possible news search experience for our users, we sometimes decide not to include some sites, for a variety of reasons." For example, she said, "they may display improperly in our service, or be inaccessible to users. We have not included links to a number of sources that are not accessible to mainland China Internet users."
Google and the Matrix
That answer does not satisfy Xia. "The Chinese government controls the media and the military and through them, is able to create a 'Matrix' that hides Web sites that relate to civil rights and opinions the Chinese authorities don't want people to see," he says.
Xia added, "And of course, these are the only places people can find this kind of 'forbidden information' and by excluding [it], Google is actively helping the Chinese government to enhance its 'Matrix.' This exercise is no different to Yahoo (Nasdaq: YHOO) China's exclusion of oversea sites when words such as 'Falun Gong' are searched.
"I condemn it and urge the public to demand that Google explains how it's able to justify the practice."
Xia also said that he has demonstrated that Google is using geographical differentiation to display different results to different locations.
Chinese Search Engines
Google also has a minority share in Baidu.com, a Chinese search engine.
"Baidu is the largest independent search engine, but much smaller than the leading portals Sohu.com and Sina.com," according to Poynteronline, which continues:
"Two years ago, Baidu put itself on the media radar and angered many Chinese Internet users. China's censors had installed new filtering software to keep unwanted information out of the country. For [as] yet unclear reasons, Google was very prominent on the hit list of those new IT-goodies and people who wanted to Google ended mostly up in the Baidu.com Web site."
Internal Google documents obtained by the San Francisco Chronicle reveal that in Europe Google is the clear search leader, but Asia is "an entirely different story," the paper wrote. The company's search engine ranked third in Hong Kong and tenth in Japan.
"China is also considered to be particularly tough," according to the Chronicle. "Many Chinese companies already dominate the search market there. In June, Google invested a reported $10 million in one of them, Baidu."
The Chronicle story also points out that wherever Google has offices, "it faces a variety of laws. In some cases, that includes filtering Web sites for illegal content. Google has blocked more than 100 such Web sites in France and Germany, according to a study by the Berkman Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University. Google insists that it is merely complying with the law and that the filtering does not affect search results elsewhere in the world."
Do It Yourself
If you're planning to emulate the DynaWeb search, don't use high-profile keywords such as "Falun Gong" or "religious freedom" because they'll trigger the national firewall in China and disconnect you from Google or from the proxy you're using, depending on where you are and how you're doing the search.
"Use dissidents' or writers' names who publish articles or are reported on oversea Web sites," suggests Xia.
He adds, "If you triggered the keyword blocking, you can try to find another proxy and change your IP by restarting your computer or logging off and logging back in."

(Clearwisdom.net) Whether during the previous period of individual cultivation or in this current stage of Fa-rectification, the effect the environment has on Falun Dafa practitioners has always been tremendous. Studying the Fa in groups, practicing the exercises together and attending Fa Conferences create righteous fields and good environments that greatly advance practitioners in their cultivation.
Since the persecution began, practitioners inside China have lost the group Fa study and exercise practice environments. They also cannot assemble to share cultivation experiences. Certain practitioners, lacking in Fa study and burdened with heavy attachments, dare not step forward to validate the Fa. A few have even given up the practice. Under the evil circumstances in forced labor camps and brainwashing centers, even diligent practitioners have been led awry, but, with the help of fellow practitioners and further study of the Fa, most of them easily reawakened and returned to righteous paths after leaving the camps and classes. Clearly, these cases underline the importance of environmental influences.
The environment has a certain function, but this should not be the deciding factor for Dafa practitioners. Instead, it is most crucial that we trust the Fa as our guiding master in elevating our xinxing (moral nature), ridding ourselves of attachments, and validating Dafa with righteous thoughts and deeds. Every one of us must measure up to the standards, and we cannot be too dependent upon the environment or others. We should not be influenced too greatly by circumstances and external factors. We should instead think rationally from the perspective of the Fa and search inward when problems arise, and we should not gripe and blame it all on a difficult environment.
Master has explained the principle of mutual generation and mutual inhibition; that everything has two sides; a positive and a negative. A good environment helps so much to expedite one's cultivation, but, on the other hand, it easily gives rise to a mentality of dependency. The persecution of Falun Gong has caused the loss of the holistic environment of group Fa-study and exercise practice. However, this tempers every practitioner, allowing us to mature. We should not accept the destruction of the holistic environment, because it has led many to step off the path of cultivation and interfered with many others.
Not relying fully upon our environments isn't the same as denying the need for a good environment, however. In the short article "Environment," Master says
"The environment is created by you, yourselves, and it, too, is essential for your improvement."
Thus, no practitioner should wait for or rely on others or be dependent on external factors; each should take proactive measures to do well in things related to Fa-validation and try his best to improve the environments surrounding us.
Master says practitioners follow "The Great Way without any form," so we can not remain attached to superficial forms or things with fixed formats. But good environments do not necessary manifest themselves superficially. Even in Mainland China, where there are no longer group Fa studies or practice sites, only the superficial forms have been erased. The environment for holistic cultivation and Fa-validation has remained virtually undisturbed and impervious to the destructive forces. In addition, the spoiling of the superficial form has become an opportunity for practitioners to validate Dafa and establish mighty virtue. For many practitioners, it is difficult now to frequently congregate for experience sharing, group Fa-study and group exercises, and there are fewer and fewer chances to contact or meet new fellow practitioners. But practitioners are validating Dafa by clarifying the truth, studying the Fa, doing exercises and sending forth righteous thoughts. Even in remote areas or alone, a Dafa practitioner is a particle of Dafa and a part of the whole. The righteous environments and the energy fields that Dafa practitioners establish do not manifest themselves on the surface or in any form, so they are indestructible.

Teacher published the article "Let Go of Human Attachments and Save the World's People" on September 1, 2004. While clarifying the truth to the world's people, I have understood that only after one can let go of human attachments, can one save the world's people.
A fellow practitioner's younger brother was found to be in the later stages of esophagus cancer, with no way to cure it. This fellow practitioner was very worried, and he advised his brother to practice Falun Gong. However, even at this point, the younger brother still did not agree to start practicing.
After returning home, this practitioner's heart was very unsteady, and he often called to ask about the state of the illness. The practitioner asked other family members to advise his brother to practice Falun Gong, but his brother still would not practice. Other practitioners all saw that this practitioner's affection and human attachments were heavy, and that is what obstructed his brother from practicing.
After that practitioner listened to everyone's understandings, he looked inward, and gradually let go of affection, and human attachments.
A few days ago, that practitioner's younger brother's family members called the practitioner, and said that the state of illness had worsened. The practitioner arranged to go see him. Before he left, everybody reminded him not to ask anything from his brother, but to just tell him to repeat, "Falun Dafa is good," and not to tell his brother to practice Falun Gong at first.
What happened was completely unexpected. The practitioner's brother, on his own initiative, wanted to practice Falun Gong. He, along with other fellow practitioners together, sent forth righteous thoughts (Of course, the righteous thoughts from a new practitioner do not have as much might, but it does indicate his heart of wanting to practice). Presently, his health has clearly become better.
It is true that only after one can let go of human attachments can one save the world's people.

(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Dafa practitioners A and B from Jilin City, Liaoning Province, full of righteous thoughts and righteous actions, are going forward in the journey for validating the Fa and saving sentient beings.
Since July 20, 1999, practitioner A and other local practitioners have often distributed truth-clarification materials together. One time the local police station arrested practitioner A, but with righteous thoughts he managed to escape. Since then he has been on the "610 Office" wanted list. Once, the authorities from the "610 Office" sent two policemen to his work place to arrest him. As they passed each other on the stairs, the policemen asked practitioner A about the practitioner himself. He answered that he hadn't see that person and continued downstairs. With Teacher's protection, the policemen failed to arrest him. Later, the policemen went to his work place, to his home, to his parents' home and to his relatives' home, and they never found him. Practitioner A continued carrying out Fa-validation and truth-clarification.
In 2001, with support from his wife, he spent his savings to purchase computer equipment, VCD recording equipment, paper, glue and other supplies for making truth-clarification material. He put the material together with rubber cement, recorded truth-clarification material on VCD, and distributed and posted a batch of materials as soon as it was completed. Practitioner A also distributed Teacher's new lectures printed by another practitioner and the "Minghui Weekly Magazine" to other practitioners without missing a week's publication. The circulated truth-clarification material helped many people learn the truth about Falun Dafa.
When he learned that practitioners from other areas had hung up a "Falun Dafa Is Good" banner, he led the effort to hang up banners in our local area. First, he made some silkscreens for creating the banners. The two main ones read "Falun Dafa Is Good", "Falun Dafa Is Righteous". He silkscreened red paint on to the yellow polyester fabric, and then dried it. It was quite bright and beautiful. Other practitioners and I helped make the banners and hung them as soon as they were completed. When other areas had a great need for banners, we would manufacture large quantities of them, and working in two shifts we were able to send hundreds of them out. Practitioner A worked diligently, emphasizing quality. With strong righteous thoughts, he helped coordinate seven or eight practitioners to work together and form one body. Toward the latter part of the year, we'd hang banners on tree branches or electricity lines, so that shortly after we left the scene, the banners would spread open by themselves. When practitioner A was in a very good state of mind, every banner that was put out would unfold very quickly, so it was very difficult for the policemen to remove it, even with the help of machinery to reach it. If they removed it one day, it re-appeared the next day. When we started out at sun down with two teams, we could hang over eighty banners and paste truth clarifying materials over half of the city in about 3-4 hours. We'd manufacture a batch, then hang and paste it. We continued this process until spring of 2002. Later, our material site was destroyed, and practitioners were arrested one after another. When we looked within ourselves for the reason, we saw our lack of righteous thoughts and learned our lesson. With strong support by practitioners from other areas, we started again, making truth-clarification material with the rubber cement and posting it up when the batch was completed.
In 2003 we included the recording of truth-clarification VCDs in our work, which continues to this day. The VCDs are of high quality, with tasteful packaging. In the package we have a short message expressed in words of truth-clarification or a poem, like: "One kind thought toward Falun Dafa, Heaven bestows happiness and peace upon you". Truth-clarification pamphlets with good reading material, nice pictures and a big red character for the word "Blessing" were also included. The material included in the VCDs explored the persecution from different angles to help people to learn the facts.
One time practitioner A traveled to another area and learned about an actor who sang songs full of words slandering Falun Dafa. He went to talk to the actor privately. With righteous thoughts, he pointed out to the actor the lyrics in the songs that were lies, false charges fabricated against Falun Dafa, and poison that harmed people. The actor understood right away and gladly agreed to make corrections. Wherever practitioner A visited other areas, he'd always get in touch with local practitioners to study the Fa together, exchange ideas and deliver the truth-clarification VCDs to them.
Practitioner A is often very helpful to other practitioners and he is always open to recommendations from them. Practitioners help each other, working together to ensure good progress. We are determined to follow Teacher's instruction "Cease not your steps on the path of return" (from the lecture "Weathering the Storm") and constantly make diligent progress.
Since July 20, 1999, practitioner B and some other practitioners have been distributing truth-clarification leaflets. She began by posting them near her house, and later expanded to include other locations. Sometimes she did it during the day, sometimes late at night. If there were difficulties and challenges, she endured and overcame whatever she encountered and never gave up.
Practitioner B's steps have covered the entire city district, multiple times in most areas, in order to deliver the leaflets and VCDs, and to put up truth-clarification materials. She knows the city by heart. She knows the surrounding environment of residential areas, the characteristics of buildings, the features of detached buildings, stairway locations, and she notices small differences in buildings. Thus, she can remember which household did not get certain truth-clarification material and what should still be delivered there. It is so clear to her that it is impossible for her to forget any household when it comes to delivering truth-clarification material.
While other practitioners hung banners, she'd glue the truth-clarification material on surfaces with rubber cement; when other practitioner made VCDs, she'd put the VCDs in envelopes and deliver them; if other practitioners wanted to print a banner, she'd help prepare the pattern and stretch the yellow fabric for printing; and when other practitioners were printing "Falun Dafa Is Good" or "Falun Dafa Is Righteous" characters on long colored paper, she'd apply glue on both sides. She works very well with other practitioners. She does not draw attention, but she is always there to help. Practitioners agree that she is an earnest, serious and responsible person.
One time, when practitioner B was delivering truth-clarification material to a residential area, she was chased by a person as soon as she stepped out of the door. This person wanted to take her to the police station, and she was frightened initially. But she quickly calmed down and talked to this person about the facts. After listening to her, this person left without saying anything.
When the officials destroyed the location where they made truth-clarification materials, she took the initiative to talk to her relatives, who were able to provide housing for practitioners, so that they could continue to make truth-clarification materials.
Although she is quiet while making informational materials with practitioners, her righteous thoughts and righteous belief in our Teacher are evident in her attitude. She does not talk much, but her unparalleled belief in Falun Dafa is clear from her actions. She experienced some severe tribulations, but she overcame them by studying the Fa and now she is walking the road toward maturity.
Many of practitioner B's friends and relatives are not Falun Dafa practitioners. She and her sister (a Falun Dafa practitioner) endured great pressure and great tribulations, but she persisted in clarifying the truth face-to-face and delivering truth-clarification materials, which helped many of them to learn the facts about Falun Dafa. Her husband was a very timid and fearful person, but he is not so timid any more, and even helps her in making truth-clarification material. When one has strong righteous thoughts, one can change the surrounding environment.
In order for practitioners to have an opportunity to read Teacher's new lectures sooner rather than later, and in order to let people learn the truth about Falun Dafa, her sister saved every penny for printing Teacher's new lectures, Minghui's articles and truth-clarification materials for distribution. The two sisters are resolved to help more people learn about the truth and therefore be saved.
For the past five years, practitioner B has been doing the things that she has resolved to do rain or shine, without any interruption. Her heart is totally with Dafa and she is on the steady path of saving sentient beings.
(Clearwisdom.net) My home is near the Chinese Consulate in Toronto, and my path of validating Falun Dafa starts here every day. After more than a thousand days and nights and many difficulties, I have persevered through four severe winters and summers, and persisted through several cycles of spring, summer, autumn and winter. This site is like my home, and I go there to relieve other practitioners when I have a little bit of extra time. If possible, I send forth righteous thoughts there four times a day in front of the Chinese Consulate. I would like now to share my experiences with you.
Since we have fewer practitioners here, oftentimes it was only myself staying in front of the Chinese Consulate. Sometimes, I get up early and go there to send forth righteous thoughts. While it is still very dark, I relieve the night shift, and sit there by myself. People who get up early say to me "Hello! Good for you!" or would stretch out their thumb to encourage me. I consider it as a way in which Teacher uses those people to encourage me.
I largely hope to clarify the truth in person to as many Chinese people as possible. Early one snowy morning at about 10:00 a.m., the lawsuit case against the Vice-Consul, who had slandered Falun Gong, was not closed yet, and a poster to show that the Vice-Consul was sued was placed beside the gate. In no time, the poster was buried by the snow shoveled by three workers from the Chinese Consulate. I hurried to say "Do not bury that poster as we are suing him now!" Immediately the consulate added more people to shovel snow in the courtyard, and many people who came to apply for their visas stopped to listen to me clarifying the truth. I used an entire hour to thoroughly clarify the truth to them from the beginning to the end.
Four years ago, when practitioners had just started to practice the exercises in front of the Consulate, appealing for Falun Gong, the staff of the Consulate watered the lawn to force us to go away, and we all became soaking wet. The thick wool clothing that I had worn was so soaked with water that it could be squeezed out with minimum effort. People passing by were unhappy upon seeing the way I was treated: "They wouldn't even give a 70-year-old man a break." Later, the staff of the Consulate gradually became less and less vicious, and now they quietly tell us before they start the watering.
One morning in February 2002, just before 8:00 a.m., while it was snowing heavily, I started to shovel the snow. One hour later, two young men showed up and started to shovel the snow as well. I helped them in the process. When they were breathing heavily while shoveling the snow, I told them that I was nearly 70 years old, did not feel winded, and that I am in very good health. In the past, I had all kinds of illnesses and it was a narrow escape from death for me. The reason that I could have all these benefits I have today is because I started practicing Falun Dafa. Please remember "Falun Dafa is Good!" in your heart and mind and your difficulties will eventually disappear.
When the tree leaves start falling in autumn, that staff of the Consulate either sweeps the leaves from north to south or sweeps the leaves from south to north. When the two piles of the fallen leaves meet, I have mixed feelings and my heart pains. We originally came from the same country, and it is the evil Jiang Zemin who separated us and put me on that blacklist so that now I cannot go back to China! I cannot see my 92 year-old mother who is studying the Fa and practicing Falun Gong at home. But these people still do not quickly awaken to the truth, nor can they return to their genuine home! In the winter of 2001, when the cold north wind howled and the snow fell heavily and thickly, I was hoping that some pre-destined people would arrive earlier. As expected, a gentle young man walked to me and said, "Sir, you are so old, yet why do you stay here by yourself to clarify the truth on such a severely cold day?" I told him directly, "Chinese people are deeply deceived by the framed and fabricated cases and fake phenomena, and do not know the truth of Falun Gong, therefore they are committing crimes by slandering Falun Dafa at will. Even though it is very cold, it is still worthwhile to clarify the facts"
We had a long conversation. He really knew the truth and promised to participate in our celebration on January 30.
Many people pass by the Chinese Consulate, and even though they do not know me, they know that I am a Falun Dafa practitioner. Therefore, I put on the best clothes I have each and every day. I will not bring negative impact to the overall image and reputation of Falun Dafa practitioners simply because of inappropriate attire. One day a couple walked out of the consulate and the wife asked me, "Don't you feel cold with such light clothing on?" I said, "I am practicing cultivation of Falun Dafa, and I can manage the cold very well. In the past, when I had all kinds of illnesses, it would not do if I wore less clothing. After practicing Falun Dafa for so many years, I have not spent a dime to buy and take medicine. If you do not believe in my words, you can take my health insurance card ID to check it out." The suspicious look of the husband then turned into one of admiration.
(Clearwisdom.net) The underhanded means that the prison guards in the Nanmusi Women's Labor Camp use to persecute Falun Dafa practitioners make people feel indignant. The No. 8 Middle Group is particularly cruel in the methods they use to persecute the practitioners. Some of them who had cruelly treated practitioners have suffered retribution:
Case 1
Cao Jiemei, originally a Russian language teacher in Dazhou City, became a criminal drug addict. She participated in the abuse of Falun Dafa practitioners in the forced labor camp. She died not long after her release. Her cause of death is unknown.
Case 2
Deng Ailin, a resident of Xichang City, criminal drug addict, participated in the abuse of practitioners in the forced labor camp. In the end, she was diagnosed with a strange disease in the labor camp. The cause of the illness was unknown and she was released on bail for medical treatment. When she left the prison she needed the help of someone to support her as she staggered out.
Case 3
Li Hong, resident of Chengdu City, participated in the persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners. Her prison term in the forced labor camp was almost completed. In the end, she was implicated in another armed robbery and was sentenced to further imprisonment.
Editor's note: These incidents could have been avoided. These people may not have started out as bad people, but under the intense pressure applied by the Jiang regime, they were pushed into persecuting Falun Dafa disciples. In the process of destroying the lives of kind, law-abiding citizens, they have sealed their own fates and inevitably faced karmic retribution as punishment. If it weren't for Jiang's orders, perhaps their fates would have been different.

1. [Nong'an, Jilin Province] Illegal Eight-Year Prison Sentence for Falun Dafa Practitioner Zheng Guomin
On August 6, 2004, the Nong'an County Court colluded with the Nong'an County Police Department in Jilin Province to block any news regarding this incident. They also closed the streets along Nong'an Middle School in order to secretly sentence practitioner Mr. Zheng Guomin with no witnesses being present. Practitioner Zheng was sentenced to eight years in prison. The entire trial lasted less than ten minutes.
2. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Torturing Practitioners in the Zhangshi Labor Camp
Since 2003, personnel from the Shenyang City Zhangshi Labor Camp have brutally tortured dozens of steadfast Falun Dafa practitioners at least three times. They shocked them with electric batons, deprived them of sleep and hung them up, trying to force practitioners to give up Falun Gong practice. When some practitioners pointed out that the enforcers were violating national policy and law, they even said, "These torture methods are just for you who refuse to give in; otherwise, why would the country produce these electric batons and what would we get paid for?" Some practitioners have scars all over their mouths, chests, backs and legs from being shocked with electric batons. One practitioner whose hands were handcuffed for so long and who was hung up for so long, developed a very deep and large wound in the wrist. It took him/her a month to heal. Policeman Shi Fengyou beat practitioner Jiao Guolian so hard that Jiao lost two front teeth, which constitutes a criminal injury; but Shi has not yet been punished. Song Baishun and Chen Wei are another couple of vicious police officers who torture practitioners, but there are more just like them.
3. [Lianzhou City, Guangdong Province] Arrest of Practitioner Li Fulian
On August 31, 2004 the police broke into practitioner Li Fulian's home and took him/her away for no reason. Li Fulian from Longping Town is currently being held at a private prison that Longping Town's government had set up.
4. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Illegal Sentencing of Dafa Practitioners Ma Chunhua and Wang Yubao to Forced Labor
On August 12, 2004, Ma Chunhua and Wang Yubao, employees of the Jinzhou Oil Refinery, were arrested due to practicing Falun Gong. According to recent information, Ma Chunhua was sentenced to two years of forced labor and Wang Yubao to three years.
On September 2, 2004, a 5 ft. 4 in.-tall female owner of a restaurant outside of the Jinzhou Oil Refinery, was arrested for practicing Falun Gong. Details are under investigation.

5. [Liu'an Area, Anhui Province] Police Hang up Dafa Practitioner Zhou Youxin to Force Him to Tell the Location of Falun Dafa Truth-Clarifying Material Production Sites
Chen Changguo, the Political and Judiciary Committee chief of Liu'an Area, Anhui Province, and personnel from the Liu'an Police Precinct arrest and cruelly torture practitioners. According to reliable sources, they hung up practitioner Mr. Zhou Youxin to force him to tell them the locations of truth-clarifying material production sites. They are now holding Mr. Zhou in a secret location and his whereabouts are unknown. Practitioners Ms. Peng Yanfang and Zhang Yongjin also suffered severe torture.
6. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Arrest of Practitioner Zhang Wei
On September 4, 2004, police took away practitioner Zhang Wei from his home in Tianjin Street, Dalian City with the excuse of, "asking some questions." Mr. Zhang's family requested his release, but they were told that they need permission from the police department.
7. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Practitioners Ming Tiaosheng and Peng Yuanrong Are Taken to Separate Brainwashing Programs
On September 2, 2004, because someone turned them in, personnel from Wuhan City's "610 Office" arrested practitioner Mr. Ming Tiaosheng of the Wuhan Evening newspaper and also his wife, Ms. Peng Yuanrong, from their respective work units and sent them to brainwashing programs. Now they are being held separately, in the Wuchang and Hankou brainwash programs. Their young daughter, in the first-grade, is left at home without care.

[Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] People from the Hailaer Branch of the Harbin Railway Bureau Torture Falun Gong Practitioners
The National Security Section of the Hailaer Branch Railway illegally searched the residences of practitioners Liu Renmin and Han Zhongchen at around 1:00 p.m. on September 1, 2004. They unlawfully abducted both practitioners, detained them, and subjected them to brutal torture and interrogation.
Before that, Ms. Zheng Baozhen from the Yitulihe Railway Hospital was arrested and sentenced to two years of forced labor. Currently she is being transferred to Huhehaote City. Also, Ms. Zhang Yingli is being kept in custody in a detention center.
[Changchun City, Jilin Province] Xu Qingwu Is Detained While Distributing Truth-Clarifying Materials
On August 24, 3004, Xiaonan Railway police detained Xu Qingwu, a Falun Dafa practitioner from Caijiatang in Fuyu County, as he was distributing truth-clarifying materials. He has been transferred to Team Five of the Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp. Because he has been handcuffed for so long, both of his hands are numb.
[Nanning City, Guangxi Province] Five Falun Dafa Practitioners Have Been Detained in September
At 7:00 a.m. on September 7, soon after Ms. Pan Xiangyang's husband left for work, a group of policemen broke into her home. They illegally arrested Pan Xiangyang and her son Huang Yule. They also searched her home without legal justification.
On the afternoon of September 7, practitioner Junior Cai was abducted on his way to work, and his residence was searched, too.
On September 7 and 8, Ms. Wang and Ms. Zhou Liping were unlawfully arrested as well.
[Chibi, Hubei Province] Practitioner Xiong Bosong Is Detained in a Brainwashing Center
Chibi practitioner Xiong Bosong was abducted on September 7. Policemen from Jingquan Public Security Branch illegally detained him in the brainwashing center located in Guanggu Holiday Village in Miaoshan, Wuhan City.
[Tianshui City, Gansu Province] Falun Dafa Practitioners Are Abducted
On the evening of March 31, over 70 policemen in Zhangjiachuan were sent out to search for Falun Dafa practitioners. Zhang Run was arrested. The police have made efforts to abduct Hai Zhiguo, a teacher at Hengshui High School in Hebei Province, and Hei Huiyu in Tianshui City in order to find excuses to persecute Zhang Run.
Two years ago, over 10,000 yuan were extorted from Zhang Run. In addition, Gao Cheng and Duan Xiaoke were sentenced to one year of forced labor.
[Anqiu City, Shandong Province] Three Falun Dafa Practitioners Are Wrongfully Arrested for Explaining the Facts of the Persecution
Around August 27, 2004, Mr. Liu Fangtang from Liujiahetou Village in Linghe Town, Anqiu City, Mr. Ma Hongxiang from Majiahetou Village, and Mr. Wang Jinxiang from Fanjiazhuang Village were reported while explaining the facts of the persecution Falun Dafa to people of goodwill at Huiqu Market. Local policemen abducted them.
[Yi County, Liaoning Province] Policemen Persecute Falun Dafa Practitioners
At 10:00 p.m. on August 26, 2004, policemen from the Criminal Police Team of Yi County and Chengguan Township Police Substation went to the home of practitioner Ms. Jiang Yanling. They searched her house and illegally confiscated a notebook computer, a printer, a VCD player and other personal belongings. Jiang Yanling, however, was not abducted.
On September 4, 2004, Yi County Public Security Bureau officials arrested Mr. Wang Furui, a 47-year-old practitioner from Yi County, in his home near the railway. Four days later, he was sent to Jinzhou Forced Labor Camp, where he was sentenced to a one-year term.
[Guiyang City, Guizhou Province] Falun Dafa Practitioner Hu Hong Is Detained in a Brainwashing Center
On September 10, Yi Chunchun, who is in charge of the persecution of Falun Gong in Shawen Township in the Baiyun District of Guiyang City, led security guards from Shawen Township to forcibly abduct Hu Hong. They sent her to Lannigou Brainwashing Class in Guiyang City, where she is being subjected to torture.
[Wuji County, Hebei Province] Practitioner Li Ruichao Is Abducted
Li Ruichao, a Falun Dafa practitioner from Wuji County, was forced to leave home in order to avoid illegal detention. On December 28, 2003 (Chinese lunar calendar), police from Zhangduangu Police Substation abducted him at midnight. In order to try to coerce him into giving up his belief in "Truth, Compassion, and Tolerance," he was subjected to extreme torture in the Wuji Detention Center.
After that, the Wuji Public Security Bureau transferred him to the provincial brainwashing center in Hebei Province. Under the influence of unbearable torture and long-term brainwashing with lies and fabricated facts, he wrote--against his will--the so-called "statement of guarantee" not to practice again. After he was released, he felt that he had not lived up to Teacher's compassion and salvation. So he wrote a solemn declaration that the statement he wrote to "guarantee" not to practice Falun Dafa is invalid. The police tried to abduct him again. Ge Yanqiang and some other policemen from the Zhangduangu Police Substation went to Li Ruichao's home several times at midnight in an attempt to arrest him.
Geng Jicai and Zhang Yonghui from Wuji County have been detained illegally in Team Two of the No. 2 Shijiazhuang Prison.
[Hubei Province] Falun Gong Practitioner Guo Yan Died as the Result of Persecution
Mr. Guo Yan, 64 years old, was a Falun Gong practitioner from Paizhouwan in Jiayu, Hubei Province. He started to practice Falun Dafa in 1997 and had benefited a lot. However, since the beginning of the illegal suppression of Falun Dafa in 1999, he was persecuted many times. In 1999, he was persecuted for going to Beijing to appeal for Falun Dafa. The police confiscated his Falun Dafa books several times and did not allow him to practice. During the 16th Party Congress in particular, Zhao Shouhuai, director of his county's Politics & Security Section, came to his home with several thugs. They beat him up and searched his home. They took away all his Falun Dafa books and Teacher's picture. For over a year, he could not eat due to the harassment and threats. He was seriously affected both physically and mentally. On October 27, 2003, he died from the persecution.
[Bozhou City, Anhui Province] Falun Gong Practitioner Yin Huiying Died Due to Persecution
Yin Huiying lived in Qiaodong Town, Bozhou City, Anhui Province. Since July 20, 1999, Jiang's faction has aggressively persecuted Falun Dafa practitioners. On December 15, 1999 (Chinese lunar calendar), Yin Huiying was working at home. Officials from the Qiaodong Town Police Substation illegally arrested her and detained her for half a month. She was released after New Year's Eve, but the local police kept harassing her at home. For a long time she lived in terror and under the threat of arrest. Finally she left her home and became destitute. On May 13, 2003, she died from the effects of the persecution she was subjected to.

1. Solemn Declaration
In October 1999, my company pressured me to renounce Falun Dafa. Under threats from my company and coercion from my family members, and in order to avoid becoming destitute and homeless, I wrote for my company a so-called "Guarantee Statement" of "not practicing Falun Gong" against my will. I even symbolically handed over some precious Dafa books and materials. Because I had not studied the Fa deeply, I thought it was simply a matter of playing some word games to deceive the authorities so that I would not be persecuted anymore. I still considered myself to be practicing and studying wholeheartedly. I even wrote letters to fellow practitioners to encourage them to follow my actions.. Through unceasingly studying the Fa, I realized that doing this was a complete mistake. In my inner heart it hid the attachments of fear and selfishness, and moreover the attachment to sentiment. I also had the kinds of deviated thoughts Teacher mentioned. Thereby, I solemnly declare that the pledge I made to "not practice" and the words I wrote which are not according Dafa are all null and void. I completely deny the arrangement of the old forces, and I will get rid of my attachments, wash away messy thoughts, and remove all notions and thought karma which are not according to Dafa. I will assimilate to Dafa, redouble my efforts to make up for the damage I have caused, do the three things our Master requires us to do well and firmly cultivate to the end.

2. Solemn Declaration
Before I practiced Falun Gong, I had many diseases and could not do anything. After I studied Dafa in 1998, all my diseases disappeared. In October 2002, the police forced me into a brainwashing center. There, they forced us to watch videos that slandered Falun Dafa. They used all kinds of methods, including coercion and threats, to force us to write the "four statements" (statements promising to give up practicing Dafa). If we refused, they made us stand up or squat for long periods of time, and would not allow us to sleep. Because I had not studied the Fa well, and I was attached to sentiment as well as consummation, the collaborators (former practitioners who have turned against Dafa under pressure) took advantage of these attachments to confuse me with complex logic. The old forces compelled us to write the "four statements" and forced us to denounce Dafa, betray our Master and violate our own conscience. This is the greatest shame in my life. If cultivators in the past had a thought of not cultivating, they would not be given another chance to cultivate. Yet today our great Mater is merciful to human beings and gives us chances again and again. From now on, I will closely follow the process of Fa-rectification, redouble my efforts to make up for the damage I have caused, and firmly cultivate to the end. The "four statements" I wrote under coercion and all my words and behavior which were not according to Dafa are invalid. I will do the three things our Master requires us to do well: study the Fa, send forth righteous thoughts and clarify the truth. I will become a qualified Dafa practitioner of the Fa-rectification period.

Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Li Wenjun has been on a hunger strike for more than 90 days. We have heard that he is being detained in a strictly controlled area, and is brutally force-fed daily.
There are around 40 Falun Dafa practitioner detained in the No.3 Ward of the Shenyang City Huazi Prison (it has been renamed the Shenyang City No.1 Prison). They are required to do heavy labor, some times from 5 am to midnight. In July 2004, practitioner Mr. Feng Wenzhong from Dadianzi Township, Tieling County was cruelly beaten. Mr. Jin Yu is suffering with tuberculosis-like symptoms, and is now held in the prison clinic.
Ms. Ren Runfang from Baigutun Village, Baigutun Township, Wuqing District, Tianjin City is 41 years old. Because she refused to give up cultivating Falun Gong, she was arrested several times. In the past 5 years, Ms. Ren Runfang has been living under the watchful eyes of the local police, township government officials, and village heads. There have been people hiding near her home during the "politically sensitive days." Her family has suffered the loss of more than 10,000 yuan in the past 5 years, plus enormous emotional stress, because of the persecution.
My name is Hou Chenghua (female) and I am a resident of Chenjia Village, Guxian Town, Yantai City Developing District, Shandong Province. I started practicing Falun Gong in September 1997. On July 20, 1999, I was detained in the Jinhe Hotel for three days by the local police. Ever since then, the local authorities have harassed me often and detained me whenever there is an important meeting in Beijing. One day before the 16th Congress opened in Beijing in 2002, I was arrested and placed in the Fushan "610 Brainwashing Class" for an entire month. My family was also extorted 2,000 yuan.
Many Falun Dafa practitioners were detained, sentenced to labor camps or prison, and even tortured to death (Ms. Wang Xiuyun) after being arrested by Zhao Xichu, from the Shengli Police Substation in Huadian City, Jilin Province. Other practitioners became destitute and homeless in order to avoid being illegally arrested at home. Ms. Xue Shenghua was forced to leave home two and half years ago, while others were sent to the brainwashing classes by Zhao Xichu.
On July 21, 2004, Director Wang Jinfu and Deputy Director Li Zhiwei of the Liangjiashan Township Police Substation, Shulan City, Jilin Province, abducted Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Wang Youhua from her home. She was brutally beaten and kicked by the police. She passed out after they struck her head with a metal flashlight. She was still unconscious when she was sent to the detention center.
