(Clearwisdom.net, February 1, 2004) On the morning of January the 28th 2004, the French Falun Dafa Association held a press conference outside the Supreme Court in Paris. They announced that the Falun Gong practitioners who were badly treated and arrested during Hu Jintao's Chinese New Year visit are preparing to sue the responsible French authorities.

The Vice-Chairperson of the French Falun Dafa Association, Ms. Christel Gassie, said, "What we have encountered is an incident exporting the persecution of Falun Gong from China to France."

"Our Association applied for participation in the parade to celebrate the Chinese Lunar New Year. However, under pressure from the Chinese government, our application was turned down. From January 24 to 27, there have been at least 30 Falun Gong practitioners rudely and unreasonably brought to the police station for detention. There were also many practitioners harassed by the police. These Falun Gong practitioners come from countries of freedom, including England, Germany, Denmark, Norway, United States, Taiwan, and France."

According to Ms. Gassie, these people were arrested merely because they are Falun Gong practitioners or because they wore clothes, scarves, or badges with Falun Dafa printed on them. Some of them didn't even wear clothes, scarves, or badges of this kind. Among them, there were practitioners' relatives who do not practice Falun Gong. A lady from England could not get in touch with her 12-year-old son during the several hours that she was detained. Another lady from Taiwan was sent to hospital because she was so frightened by the police officers' unreasonable and forceful behavior that she passed out.

Some Falun Gong practitioners said that they come from democratic countries in Europe, Asia, America, and Australia. They were astonished and felt deep regret for what the French authorities did under the Chinese Communist regime's pressure.

Falun Gong practitioners think that an incident such as this is an infringement upon human rights in France. It has brought tremendous damage to Falun Gong practitioners and is a serious matter. For this reason, practitioners are currently actively explaining the truth about Falun Gong to the related government departments. They are also actively contacting the legal circles, to let them know the facts in preparation of suing the responsible departments in order to stop similar incidents from occurring. Several famous lawyers have already expressed their willingness to take this case to protect Falun Gong practitioners' legal interests and rights.

(Clearwisdom.net) I arrived in Paris on January 23rd. At about 12:30 p.m. on January 24th, I was chatting with a lady while waiting to watch the parade on Champs Elysees Ave, when a man came up to us, saying something in French. The lady thought he was asking for directions, so she told him that we could only speak English. To our surprise, this man grabbed my arms and pushed me towards a police van parked nearby. I asked in English what he was doing. He answered that he did not understand English. I asked him to let go of me as I could walk on my own. However, he simply shoved me into the van. Altogether 10 people were sent to the van, seven of them being Falun Gong practitioners.

At around 2:00 p.m. in the afternoon, we were taken to the 17^th District Police Station. After registering, I was taken to a room and handcuffed to a chair. Others who came in later were handcuffed in the same fashion.

At around 4:00 p.m. that afternoon, I, along with two other gentlemen, was taken to a different room. A policeman said he needed to record something. He claimed that we had violated the law by handing out Falun Gong brochures without permission. I said I did not hand out anything since I was just chatting with friend at the time of arrest. The policeman then said that it was because I wore a yellow scarf. I asked him why the police arrested us, as we did not violate any law. He said the arrest was a mistake and he apologized to us. He then told us he knew we were good people. After asking for instruction from his supervisor, he told us they could release us by 6:00 p.m.

(Clearwisdom.net) I work in Cambridge, England. On January 22nd, 2004, my friends and I came to Paris to attend the Chinese New Year celebration activities. I was among those who played waist drums. Since we did not get approval to attend the float parade on Champs Elysees Ave that day, we went to tour Arc de Triomphe.

At around 12:30 p.m., another practitioner from Cambridge, England and I came to the sidewalk close to the Arc de Triomphe. I was planning to have my friend take a picture of me when several policemen suddenly came out of nowhere, grabbed me and twisted my arms behind my back. After searching me several times without finding anything, the police tied my hands behind my back with a plastic rope. My friend was also arrested and tied up. After a while, I found that some other practitioners from England who were sightseeing elsewhere were also taken to the place where I was staying. A French practitioner who drove by was stopped and arrested, with his hands cuffed behind his back.

Most of us wore yellow scarves imprinted with "Falun Dafa" and "Truth-Compassion-Tolerance." Three practitioners were not wearing the yellow scarf, yet they were also arrested. None of us had any fliers with us. We were all sightseeing at the time of arrest. The only thing that differentiated us from ordinary tourists was that we wore yellow scarves.

Several minutes later the seven of us practitioners from England and the French practitioner were taken to a police van. After staying at the Arc de Triomphe for about 30 minutes, we were driven to the 17^th District Police Station. While in the van, we were not allowed to make phone calls or take pictures.

Upon arrival at the police station, we were taken out of the van one by one. Chris, a western practitioner, was the first one to get out of the van. After quite a while, my friend and I, both from Cambridge, were also taken out. Since I left my passport in the hotel, the police asked me to use my bank card to register. Only then did they remove the rope from my hands. However, once I was taken inside, they cuffed me to a chair. Before us, Chris was already handcuffed there. We were handcuffed till about 4:00 p.m. in the afternoon.

A plainclothes official briefly explained why we were arrested. He told us that it was because we passed out fliers. He said we would be released after the parade ended at 6:00 p.m. Then he asked us to fill out a case report form. He said he knew that we were peaceful and innocent, but he did not allow us to ask more questions, saying that the arrest was ordered by higher authorities.

Since I understand neither English nor French, I wasn't able to appeal during the whole process. Even the explanations given by the official had to be translated by another practitioner for me to understand.

We were finally released at 5:15 p.m. that afternoon. Several hours later, we returned to our hotel. There were still visible marks on my wrists that night.

World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong

We were shocked to learn that on Jan. 24 and 26, peaceful Falun Gong practitioners were detained and roughly treated by the Paris police. The police claimed that the color yellow as well as clothing and accessories with "Truth, Compassion, and Tolerance" were illegal in France on those days. These actions are alarmingly similar to those carried out by the Chinese police in their persecution of Falun Gong in China. The World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong (WOIPFG) is gravely concerned about the fact that such injustice happened in the democratic country of France.

WOIPFG has launched investigations into the Chinese government's attempt to export its persecution of Falun Gong to other countries through political, economic, and diplomatic means. We have found that most western democratic countries are well aware of the PRC's genocidal persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China and have condemned and resisted the regime's attempt to export the persecution onto their own soils. For example, in July 2002, the U. S. Congress unanimously passed Resolution 188, which calls for an end to the persecution in China and investigation of the reported harassment of Falun Gong practitioners in the U.S. by Chinese agents. However, a few countries have bowed to China's pressure in exchange for political and trade benefits. During state visits by high-ranking Chinese officials, these countries have abandoned their democratic principles and obligations to safeguard justice. Sometimes they have even violated their own laws and the basic human rights of Falun Gong practitioners.

The wrongful conduct of the French police force is evidence that the Chinese Communist regime is indeed exporting the persecution to other countries. WOIPFG has initiated an investigation of this incident and is in the process of obtaining evidence. The initial investigation report will be made public shortly. Further, on December 8, 2003, WOIPFG, together with several international organizations in different countries, established "The Committee for an International Special Tribunal on the Persecution of Falun Gong." We will join others around the world to promote the establishment of an International Special Tribunal on the Persecution of Falun Gong. This special tribunal will refer to the precedent set by the Nuremberg War Crimes Trial to bring those who initiated and/or participated in the persecution of Falun Gong to trial.

Mr. President, the French people will never forget the suffering France endured during World War II. Throughout history, there have been many tragedies as a result of tolerating and even capitulating to brutality. Surely you would agree that China must not be allowed to export the persecution of Falun Gong to France. We believe that the injustice was not of your choosing; however, a sovereign, democratic nation has the responsibility to investigate and correct wrongful conduct by its government officials. WOIPFG is ready to work with your government to further investigate this matter for a positive outcome and to minimize the negative impact of this injustice on the reputation of France.

(Clearwisdom.net) The Spring Festival is a traditional holiday for Chinese people all over the world. Overseas Chinese also celebrate this holiday with many events and activities. Recently, the New Tang Dynasty Television (NTDTV), headquartered in New York City, held the first Global Chinese New Year Gala on January 17 and 18. The performers in the gala included renowned musicians from China and other countries, including some Falun Gong practitioners. Jiang's regime instructed the Chinese consulates to intervene, but these attempts failed.

According to a report in the Epoch Times on January 22, 2004, on the day when the renowned Australian bassist Christian Bischoff flew to New York City to attend the Gala, he received a telephone call from the Chinese consulate in Australia. The officer from the consulate told him that NTDTV was associated with Falun Gong. The officer said a lot of defamatory things against Falun Gong, tried to persuade him not to attend the activities, and even asked him to cancel his performance. The officer talked with him for at least 15 minutes. Mr. Bischoff said that his home telephone number is unlisted, and it was quite rude and intrusive for the Chinese Consulate to call him at his home. Although Mr. Bischoff felt anxious about the Chinese consulate, he decided to participate in the New York New Year's Gala.

In order to prevent overseas Chinese communities from participating in or supporting the gala, some officers from Chinese embassies and consulates sent threatening letters to Chinese community leaders. Some of the recipients of these letters stated that the content included accusing NTDTV of having "political motives", framing Falun Gong as "anti-China", claiming that the gala was "against humanity", etc. Also, the letters "advised" the community leaders to decline interviews from NTDTV, not to support NTDTV or Falun Gong, and not to attend activities involving Falun Gong.

NTDTV was interfered with by Jiang's regime because it is an independent people's media, which is not influenced by the Chinese embassies or consulates. Also, it follows ethical principles and does not succumb to pressure, telling the truth about Falun Gong and the Jiang regime's lies on a range of topics. For these reasons, Jiang's regime hates - and is scared of - NTDTV. They flagrantly spread lies slandering NTDTV and Falun Gong, and interfered with and sabotaged the activities of overseas Chinese celebrating the New Year.

Despite the interference from Jiang's regime, the "Global Chinese New Year's Gala" was held as planned in New York City's Manhattan Center. The tickets for the two evening performances were sold out, and the gala was a great success. It included a number of performances celebrating the Spring Festival, and mainly reflected the culture of the Tang Dynasty during its height. It helped to enrich the lives of the local Chinese residents and to help build a bridge between East and West.

When French Falun Gong practitioners applied to join in the Spring Festival Parade in Paris on January 24, they were faced with the intervention of the Chinese Embassy in France. The Chinese embassy refused the application from Falun Gong practitioners without giving any written explanation. The embassy openly sabotaged the French spirit of "freedom, equality, and universal fraternity" on French soil. Meanwhile, the French police and Parisian government were also pressured by the Chinese embassy.

Facing unreasonable interference from the Chinese embassy, French Falun Gong practitioners decided to invite practitioners from other European countries to Paris to hold two parades. About 1,000 Falun Gong practitioners from France, Germany, Switzerland, Sweden, Denmark, Austria, Holland, England, Ireland, Italy, and Taiwan held a Spring Festival parade with decorated cars and colorful costumes. Some local Chinese who love Chinese culture and support Falun Gong also joined the parade. The parade was held to warm applause and was well received by the locals.

Since July 1999, Jiang's regime has repeatedly tried to extend the persecution of Falun Gong overseas. However, its efforts are in vain.

Falun Gong, advocating "Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance" and transcending the barriers of nationality, race, and culture, has spread to over 60 nations. Wherever it reaches, people are able to attain physical health and improve their moral character. In recognition for contributions to society, Falun Gong has received over a thousand proclamations from many countries and different levels of government. The various activities of Falun Gong practitioners to spread Chinese culture are welcomed by people everywhere. The governments and citizens of these nations are also beginning to realize the evil nature of the Jiang regime's persecution.

After learning the facts about the persecution, many people condemned the crimes of Jiang's regime in violating the basic human rights of Falun Gong practitioners. The Vancouver Sun published an article with the title: "Chinese officials on RCMP watch list", with the subtitle "Fifteen high-ranking people have been accused of torturing members of the Falun Gong". The article reported that Canadian Falun Gong practitioners have filed a lawsuit against 15 Chinese Communist Party officials, including Jiang Zemin and Liu Qi, for illegally arresting, torturing, and killing Falun Gong practitioners. The police have confirmed that the RCMP has received the list and the 15 officials have been put on the watch list. Any of these 15 officials will be investigated upon entering Canada.

Jiang's regime has failed in their persecution of Falun Gong overseas, and has been widely condemned by international organizations. The Human Rights Committee of the United Nations condemned Jiang's regime for its violation of Falun Gong practitioners' human rights in different reports for several years running.

The U.S. Congress passed Resolution 188 by 420 to 0, urging Jiang's regime to end the persecution of Falun Gong. Many congressmen have stated that Jiang's regime is the one of the most notorious human rights violators in the world. The British Foreign Affairs Department pointed out in their 2003 human rights report that the British government is "concerned with a series of human right problems in China, including: freedom of religion and the sufferings of Falun Gong supporters", and condemns China's human rights record.

Falun Gong practitioners from the United States, Belgium, Spain, Germany, Taiwan, and South Korea have filed lawsuits against Jiang and the "610 Office." The "Global Coalition for Bringing Jiang to Justice" was founded in Washington D.C. in September 2003.

(Clearwisdom.net) Ever since October 2002, when Jiang was sued in the United States for crimes against humanity, genocide, and torture, Jiang and his regime's brutal persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners who believe in Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance, has been exposed to the world, causing wide-spread concern. Each country's government and various organizations are condemning the persecution and calling for an end to it through diplomatic or legal channels. In addition, related international organizations, such as the "World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong," among others, are actively conducting investigations and collecting evidence of Jiang and his regime's persecution of Falun Gong. They are presenting this evidence to the public, in order to bring those criminals who have initiated, planned, and carried out such an unconscionable persecution to justice.

At the beginning of the New Year, news came from Canada that Canada's Crimes Against Humanity and War Crimes Program (CAHWCP) will hold accountable those who have persecuted Falun Gong in Mainland China. What is the meaning of this and what is the impact?

Those Who Persecuted Falun Gong Have Been Placed on File as "Criminals Against Humanity"

This action has undoubtedly sent a message to those persecuting Falun Gong in China; all persecutors have been designated as criminals against humanity by the Canadian Department of Justice, Canadian Immigration, and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP).

Last September, the Canadian Falun Dafa Association and the "World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong," submitted a document to RCMP and Canada's Crimes Against Humanity and War Crimes Program (CAHWCP). Including Jiang Zemin, "610 Office" head Li Lanqing, and Luo Gan, this file documented the crimes committed by 15 high-level Chinese officials against Falun Gong and the related evidence. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) confirmed that a file has been opened with the War Crimes Unit. The filing of a second batch of criminals of 30 names and evidence took place on January 20. We have learned that as many as 10 thousand names will be provided.

CAHWCP was initiated in the mid-1980's to apprehend the war criminals of World War II, and has been extended to modern war criminals and criminals against humanity. What CAHWCP has done with respect to the persecutors of Falun Gong constitutes the first action a foreign government has taken to oppose the persecution of Falun Gong that carries clear direction and profound meaning. This makes Canada's position on the persecution against Falun Gong very clear.

This action made all persecution of Falun Gong impossible in Canada, and thus shattered the plans of many persecutors to take refuge in Canada and escape punishment from the law. This action includes denial of visas, cancellation of citizenship, barring from entry, deportation, and prosecution of those who commit crimes against humanity. In the event that a perpetrator of atrocities against Falun Gong practitioners lands in Canada, a prompt investigation will be conducted, and further legal action can be taken.

CAHWCP is carried out with the combined efforts of three departments, the Departments of Justice, Immigration, and Public Security. According to Canada's Crimes Against Humanity and War Crimes Program 2001-2002 annual report, in that fiscal year, 445 people were not granted visas to Canada, 46 were deported, 3,983 cases (including cases that took place outside Canada) were under investigation.

Renowned human rights lawyer David Matas said, "There is sufficient evidence to believe that these people have committed crimes against humanity and severe human rights violations," Matas said, "This is just the first step of our legal action. We will further our plan, because it is not possible to do this in China now."

Addressing China through the CAHWCP shows our determination in bringing those persecutors of Falun Gong to justice. This is undoubtedly a heavy blow to all who have been involved in the persecution. At the same time, it serves as a warning to them and will help to end the persecution sooner.

Jiang and His Regime Tried to Manipulate Overseas Agencies to Apply Pressure, But Have Failed

Addressing this issue with the CAHWCP has won support from officials and the general public in Canada. In order to persecute Falun Gong, Jiang and his regime tried deceive the international community and apply pressure through overseas agencies. But as the facts of the persecution widely spread, their goal of manipulating the international community has totally failed.

Member of Parliament Rob Anders wrote a letter to support this action, stating, "Canada can't become a haven for these criminals and torturers. We should stop those who torture people and commit crimes against humanity in China from entering Canada... If we do not act now, those criminals will not stop."

The Secretary of Amnesty International Canada, Mr. Neve, said that governments of all nations must bravely employ all necessary measures to make sure all Chinese officials who have participated in human rights abuses are held accountable, no matter how high-ranking they are.

The Ottawa Citizen, Vancouver Sun, and Hamilton Spectator reported this action. The Chinese program on television station OMNI2 not only reported this press conference, but also conducted a survey, "Do you think Jiang and those officials should be stopped from entering Canada because of persecuting Falun Gong?" Sixty three percent said yes.

The Legal Systems in Western Countries Will Give Those Who Have Persecuted Falun Gong Nowhere to Hide

Canada's Crimes Against Humanity and War Crimes Program began in the mid-1980's for the purpose of bringing WWII war criminals to justice. It was later expanded to include other war crimes, and crimes against humanity. The United States, Australia, and the United Kingdom, among others, all have this system. Canada has set a good example. Therefore, when the people of the world genuinely know the truth about Jiang's crimes against Falun Gong--which has resulted in at least 869 Falun Dafa practitioners being tortured to death, at least 6,000 practitioners being illegally sentenced to prison, and more than 100 thousand practitioners being sent to forced labor camps--how many countries will stand up to bring these persecutors to justice? This is probably what Jiang and his regime fear the most.

We believe the net of justice is tightening and will give those persecutors of Falun Gong nowhere to escape.

(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Gao Shiping, age 58, was a resident in Zhangjiafang Village, Shenjiatun Town, Qiaoxi District, Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province. She was at one time the local Falun Dafa volunteer assistant, and went to Beijing to appeal after July 20, 1999. In February 2001, all local Falun Dafa practitioners were detained in the Zhangjiafang Village meeting room for several days, and were forced to sign their names on a big piece of white cloth, which had words that slandered Falun Dafa on it. They were forced to write the three statements. Ms. Gao sat in meditation to protest, and did not sign her name.

In April 2001, while Ms. Gao was farming in the field, she was arrested by local police and sent to the Gaoyang Labor Camp for forced brainwashing. When she returned home in the spring of 2003, her health had seriously deteriorated from the physical and mental torture she had endured in the labor camp. She died on December 19, 2003.

The main people responsible for her death are former Town "610 Office" Head Li Kesheng (male), former Town Police Substation Director Zhang Jiuquan (male), Town Legal Institute Director Peng Guanghai (male), and former Village Chief Zhang Kaibin (male, deceased).

Because of my persistence in Falun Dafa practice, in June 2001 I was sentenced by the police of Chifeng Songshan District Police Station to three years' hard labor in Tumuji Forced Labor Camp of Inner Mongolia Province, where I witnessed some of most inhumanly cruel treatments suffered by Dafa practitioners.

At the time, there were about 80 Dafa practitioners imprisoned in the Tumuji Forced Labor Camp, all of them were female practitioners.

Ji Yunzhi was among them. Because of a comment she made, "We are all good people, we should not be treated like that," Ji was immediately singled out by a guard, who slapped and kicked her, and later shocked her with an electric baton. She lost her mobility and later suffered from severe heart problems. Ji was not spared from her field labor duty, even after being injured badly by the torture. Officer Yin Guijuan asked two inmates to drag her out to the field. It was extremely cold in the winter in the North. As Ji's legs were badly hurt from the torture, she could not support herself. Therefore, they dumped her on the freezing cold ground, where Ji ended up with severe frostbite and was unable to get out of bed for the next few days, after which she was still trembling with cold. Despite her wretched state, guard Zhou Liping still did not let her off. She continued to torture Ji with an electric baton. Ji Yunzhi finally collapsed, was dispatched to the hospital, and later allowed to go home on medical parole.

On January 24, 2001, practitioner Ma Xiuqin went on a hunger strike, protesting the illegal captivity and ill treatment. She was bashed and hit by two guards, who fractured her jaw. Grabbing her feet, they dragged her out to a compound eighty meters away, where her clothes were ripped by the stones on the ground. Later, they threw her in a disciplinary cell and tried to force her to admit that she was wrong for practicing Falun Gong. Ma replied, "We are all good people, we have done nothing wrong." Seeing that she refused to submit, they tied her to the back of a van and pulled her along to a broken down shed, where she was made to stand and not allowed to sleep unless she gave up her practice. They tied her arms to the back and hung her up, with her toes barely touching the ground. Adding to her agony, they shocked her with an electric baton. Ma collapsed four times, and she suffered from cardiac problems from the damage done by the high voltage electric baton. For six months afterwards, she was unable to lift up her arms. Five men were involved in that nine-day torture. Two of them, Zhang Yuxi and Li, were camp commissioners.

Dafa practitioner Fu Guiying requested that all of the Dafa practitioners should be released, but ended up being brutally tortured by four guards, two of whom were Luo Jinfang and Na Lihua. Forcing her arms apart, they handcuffed her hands onto a heating pipe. Using two simultaneously applied electric batons, they tortured her for well over half a day. Fu was unable to get out of bed after this, and she was sent home later.

In May 2002, when an order came from Jiang Zemin that all forms of torture techniques were permitted to use on Dafa practitioners in order to force them to give up Falun Gong, Officer Yin Guijuan was delighted. She was sent for further training to learn more techniques to apply on the captives. Xin Xiuying was a firm practitioner. Initially, she was put under corporal torture - forced to stand, to squat or bend down for long hours in a difficult posture. After a few days, Xin was in miserable shape. One day, a guard asked two inmates to strip her pants down and pinched her sensitive areas. Seeing that she was on the verge of collapse, they forced her thumbprint on a pre-prepared "transformation statement," promising to give up practice of Falun Gong.

As Wang Suqin was unable to take the inhuman beating, she gave in and signed a pre-prepared transformation statement, which she deeply regretted afterwards. One day, seizing an opportunity, she escaped from the camp. However, the camp was far away from anywhere and not a house was around for miles, and she was recaptured quickly. Her sentence was extended for another three months. As a punishment, the guards made her to stand in a pool of water poured on the ground and shocked her with a high voltage electric baton until the batteries ran out. Her face turned blue and red, and she had difficulty walking afterwards. Her heart was damaged severely from the high voltage shocks. In a short period of time, her weight dropped down from eighty kilograms to only fifty kilograms.

On June 8, 2002, a camp officer was finally successful into forcing me to put my thumbprint on a prepared statement to renounce Dafa. When I protested that it was invalid and not legal, they struck me brutally. Officer Yin Guijuan whipped my face with a leather belt dripping with water, and while pulling my hair and slamming my head against a wall, she threatened, "If you refused to submit, you will be cremated." To work on me further, she ordered two inmates, Bao Xi and Xu Xiujuan, to handcuff me and hang me up. I was determined not to let them do it, so I kept telling myself - I am a Dafa practitioner, no one can harm me. After almost half a day and exhausted, the five inmates were unable to do anything to me. Despite the fact that they tried to rub dirt in my mouth and nearly ripped my clothing into shreds, they still could not hang me up. However, my head and face were swollen from the beating and I could hardly open my eyes. For the next two days, I was unable to swallow any liquid, and for twenty days afterwards, I was unable to do any physical work.

Another Dafa practitioner, Meng Hulun, was summoned to the office to sign a prepared statement renouncing Dafa. As she refused to sign anything, she was beaten severely by the three guards, Yin Guijuan, Li Xiaodong, and one other one for over four hours using a leather belt dipped in water. Her head and body were covered with bruises and she could hardly lie down. Afterwards, she was bleeding heavily and had to be sent to the hospital, where she was diagnosed with cancer of the uterus. Meng Hulun said, "I was perfectly healthy when you put me here. After all the torture, who is going to guarantee that my life is not in jeopardy?" Fearing that she might die in the camp, they quickly sent her home.

Every Dafa practitioner in the camp was tortured to varying degrees. We were put on surveillance round the clock, and talking with each other was absolutely forbidden. We were not allowed to cross our legs or close our eyes while sitting. Even when we were using the washroom, we were closely watched. Every now and then, they would remove our clothes and searched for any Dafa materials. They also constantly verbally abused us.

Nevertheless, through continual clarification of the truth, the good side of some guards was revealed. One day, officer Yin Guijuan said to me, "We can't help it. We are unwilling to treat you people like that. We are not enemies and we all know that you are good people. But Jiang Zemin's involvement is too extensive. If we don't get results, we will be fired. How will we survive?"

Such horrible incidents in the camp were so innumerable that it will take me several days and nights to relate all of them. Even then, these are only some of the events I personally witnessed. I don't know how much more that I don't know. Ever since Jiang started the persecution, we have not had a day's peace. While I was at the camp, my husband was arrested and sentenced to three years imprisonment. At present, he is still in prison, leaving my son at home.

(Clearwisdom.net) Policewoman Yuan Lingyue is the captain of Team Three in the Women's Division of Dalian City Labor Camp, in Liaoning Province. Team Three is specifically used for detaining and torturing female Falun Gong practitioners. Yuan is thirty-three years old and lives in the Lubo Residential Area of the Shahekou District in Dalian City. She is known to be vicious and deceitful.

Yuan is responsible for devising most of the torture methods used against practitioners, methods such as "Five Horses Splitting the Body." In this form of torture, the victim is hung up. Then the guards forcefully pull the victim's four limbs in opposite directions. At the same time, they also pull her head up as high as possible. The victim is in extreme pain when her body is stretched in the five directions. The guards place a chair under the victim's body and swing her back and forth over the chair so that her private areas will hit the back of the chair. Oftentimes the victim will bleed in her lower body and her private areas will swell up so badly that she cannot walk afterwards.

Guards subjected forty-nine-year old Zhong Shujuan to this torture. She screamed non-stop from excruciating pain. Her lower body bled profusely and became very swollen. She could not walk afterwards. A tendon in her leg was torn, making it impossible for her to squat down. She needed help to use the bathroom and could not take care of herself for three months.

Guards also subjected Sun Yan, thirty years old, to the same torture. Policewoman Yuan Lingyue even stuffed hot pepper into Sun's vagina and scrubbed it in with a brush. Each time Yuan wouldn't stop until Sun passed out. Even before Sun had recovered from the old wounds, Yuan would torture her like this again. For the past two years, Sun was unable to walk properly because of such torture. Her hands were also disabled. Recently Yuan transferred Sun and another two female practitioners to Longshan Labor Camp.

Chen Hui, an unmarried woman of twenty-six, was not spared from this torture. Yuan Lingyue also tortured her with many other despicable means. Yuan was so cruel that the guards were even terrified of her. They would say behind her back, "She's just too vicious."

Yuan Lingyue usually tortured practitioners at night. She would arrange who would torture which practitioner and how. Then she would hide herself in a dark corner and watch. When a practitioner passed out, she would run over to check if she had really lost consciousness. Then she would tell the guards to pour cold water on her to wake her up and continue the torture. Chang Xueling was once tortured like this.

Yuan Lingyue has beaten numerous practitioners very badly. For her, beating people was as normal as eating meals. She has beaten such determined practitioners as Sun Yan, Zou Qiuju, Yu Shoufen, Wang Benhua, Chang Xueling, Liu Jun, Li Min, and many others. Qin Shulan and Chen Lihua are both close to sixty years old. However, Yuan did not spare them. She would slap their faces dozens of times until their faces swelled. Sometimes she would suddenly put on a smiley face right after beating people. She would touch your face and then pat your shoulder as if nothing had happened.

Yuan Lingyue also steals from practitioners. She often searches practitioners' belongings with the excuse of making a "security inspection." She takes away practitioners' valuables, claiming that she will keep an eye on them. However, she never returns the valuables to practitioners when they finish their terms. When practitioners' family members mail money to them, she often intercepts the money and keeps it for herself. She also takes away food practitioners' families send them. In order to get promoted to the position of captain, she used the cruelest means to persecute practitioners and gain favor with her superiors.

It's a heavenly principle that good is rewarded with good and evil meets evil. Yuan Lingyue will have to pay for her crimes.

(Clearwisdom.net) One day in December of 2003, a prison guard at the Hehuakeng Labor Camp in Tangshan City had a "heart-to-heart talk" with the Falun Gong practitioners incarcerated there. When talking about how the Gaoyang Labor Camp in Baoding City and the No. 202 Squad in Shijiazhuang City Labor Camp"transformed" Falun Gong practitioners, he said, "We are more moderate. We only use 300,000-volt electric batons, wooden clubs, deadly strings, and bind you to the bed. We have never buried you alive like they did."

Gao Yongjing, a prison guard at the Hehuakeng Labor Camp, maintained that there were two rules regarding the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. One was not to "transform" human ashes (implying that they would persecute the practitioners until either they die or get transformed). The other was to use the "deadly strings" on Falun Gong practitioners so tightly that the strings become buried in the flesh. This is a ruthless torture that uses strings to tie up a person's body and limbs so tightly that the strings cut into the victim's flesh. Many practitioners lose consciousness within ten minutes of the torture. When rousing the criminal inmates to persecute practitioners, prison guard Li Xiaozhong told them, "We don't need too many, a quota of three deaths a year is good enough."

In the past few years, the prison guards in the Hehuakeng Labor Camp of Tangshan City, and the criminal inmates, have together relentlessly persecuted Falun Gong practitioners. The prison guards let it be known that those criminal inmates who were vicious and ruthless in torturing the practitioners would earn high marks, be handsomely rewarded, and have their prison sentences commuted.

On December 8, 2003 practitioner Gao Baochang (from Qinglong County) needed to use the toilet, so he approached the criminal inmates Hou Jintao and Li Jigang, who were assigned to watch over the practitioners. They did not allow him to go despite repeated requests. Furthermore, they forced him to tie up his penis with a string, but was stopped in time when Lu Jiang, the leader on duty, found out. Hou was very angry with Lu and physically assaulted him the next day. Lu sustained injury to the head. When Lu reported the incident to the police, the police not only paid no attention but decided that Lu and the criminal inmates were stirring up trouble, and let it go at that.

Dafa disciple Liu Jianbo became extremely weak due to multiple ailments after years of persecution. He had applied to the labor camp authorities for medical attention numerous times, but all were denied. On December 4 the prison guard on-duty, Wang Yulin, stirred up trouble once again, and found an excuse to tie Liu up on his bed and torture him. Wang was blatant in his intent in a meeting, "You can't blame me; it's my job (to torture practitioners). I'm just following orders from above." Later he added insult to injury and recorded it as a serious offence by Liu. On December 10 Liu was once again taken to the "Subduing the Steadfast Team" for further torture with "tying up on the bed." Located in the "education" building, the "Subduing the Steadfast Team" is made up of prison guards and criminal inmates. Its goal is to force Falun Gong practitioners to give up their belief by persecuting them using various torture instruments and ruthless means.

Since July 20, 1999 numerous Dafa practitioners have been severely injured and crippled from torture in Hehuakeng Forced Labor Camp. Three practitioners including Mr. Chen Aizhong and Mr. Meng Jincheng have been tortured to death. Practitioners Mr. Wang Yizhu and Mr. Song Yongxiang were on the brink of death from torture when they were moved to an undisclosed location. What happened to them is uncertain. This is how prison guards in the labor camp torture the steadfast practitioners. On December 15 prison guard Zhao Changjiang personally carried out the "deadly strings" torture twice on practitioner Yue Xingdong, a farmer fifty-nine years old. Yue was later sent to "Subduing the Steadfast Team" for further persecution.

This is how the Hehuakeng Labor Camp "educates, helps, transforms, and saves" Falun Gong practitioners. Here in this dark evil den, every day there are people being injured; every moment, there are lives in danger.

(Clearwisdom.net) On the night of February 24, 2001, police chief Li Yongfei and his subordinates from Duqiao Police Station of Yueyang City, Hunan Province, broke into Dafa practitioner Meng Kai's home and tricked him into going to the police station. They lied and said that they would let him go home in a few minutes, when in fact they sentenced him to 7 years in prison.

After Meng Kai was taken to the police station, the police looted his cash and bank deposits totaling nearly 10,000 yuan without any legal procedures. Under the directive of Yueyang City Committee Party Secretary Yu Laishan and Police Department Chief Liu Guoqiu, about 20 policemen took turns interrogating Meng Kai, not allowing him to sleep for four nights straight. Afterwards, they secretly sent him to Huarong Detention Center without informing his family.

While Meng Kai was detained, Zhao Zihu from the Political Security Division led a group of people to his home and ransacked it without a warrant. They took away the computer, cell phone, pager, Dafa books and other property, leaving the house in complete disarray.

During his detention at the Huarong Detention Center, the police incited the inmates to beat Meng Kai. They even took away his clothes when it was very cold. After learning that his clothes were taken away, his family tried to send some more to him, but Liu Guoqiu did not allow his family to visit Meng Kai, nor did he allow them to drop off clothes for him. Meng Kai was moved from one cell to another. Altogether he had stayed in a total of five different cells. Many times he was beaten so badly that he passed out. His right eardrum was broken. He was monitored around the clock, and someone would follow him even when he went to the bathroom. After beating him for 42 days, the police put him in a confinement cell.

On August 21, 2001, Meng Kai was put on trial. There were about 60 people attending the hearing. Wu Dongbao colluded with judge Yang Li from the Yueyanglou District Court and tried to fabricate charges against Meng Kai. When Meng pleaded not guilty and defended himself, Wu and Yang were unable to answer his questions. They were very angry.

Yang asked again, "Do you know that you are not allowed to visit the Minghui website?" Meng said, "No, I don't. There's never been a law stipulating that."

The third day after the trial, Meng Kai's mother went to find Yang Li to clarify the truth to her. However, Yang wouldn't listen. Out of spite, she even changed the original 4-year term to a 7-year term.

In order to frame Dafa practitioners, Yueyang City Committee Party Secretary Yu Laishan showed up on TV many times to slander Dafa. He also used the newspaper to publish slanderous articles.

The fourth day after the trial, Meng Kai's family went to visit him; however, they could barely recognize him because he had been tortured to the point of being unrecognizable. His family reasoned with the detention center police asking them not to persecute Meng and other practitioners anymore. The police there said it was the city officials that ordered them to do so, and that if his family wanted to complain, they should go talk to those officials.

In 2001, Mr. Li Zhenjiang was arrested and sent to the Third Brigade of the Wuyuan Forced Labor Camp. Later, he was transferred to the First Brigade. In January 2002, under orders from Head of the Camp Mu Jianfeng, Mr. Li was placed in solitary confinement. During this time, the police shocked his eyes, ears, nose, lips and tongue with three electric batons, badly burning his face. Wang Donglei and Zhang Dahu tied him to a chair with rope and tormented him. This caused the entire group of detained Falun Dafa practitioner to go on a hunger strike in protest. In September 2002, under the orders of Yang Furong, after incapacitating Cheng Changlin by torture, the police similarly tortured practitioner Li Zhenjiang by making him stand up for many days and nights without any sleep. The police used the electric baton to keep him awake.

In October 2000, Mr. Cui was arrested while unfurling a banner on Tiananmen Square. He was sentenced to three years in a forced labor camp without due process of law. At the end of December 2000, Mr. Cui was punished by being forced to stay outdoors for over ten days. He was not allowed to sleep during that time. The temperature fell to less than --10^o C (14^o Fahrenheit). Dafa practitioner Cao Feng gave Mr. Cui a pair of cotton-padded shoes and a cotton cap despite the enormous pressure of being closely watched. As a result, Mr. Cao was also forced to stay in the freezing cold for several hours as punishment for his kindness. In July 2001, because they refused to sign the "three guarantee statements," their sentences were extended by three months. In January 2002, some practitioners were sent to solitary confinement and persecuted further for protesting the inhuman treatment they received. [Three Guarantee Statements: Practitioners are coerced under brainwashing and torture to write these as proof that they have given up their belief. The three statements consist of a letter of repentance, a guarantee to never again practice Falun Gong, and a list of names and addresses of all family members, friends and acquaintances who are practitioners.]

On July 20, 2001, Mr. Chen was transferred to Wuyuan Forced Labor Camp from the Tumuji Forced Labor Camp in northeastern Inner Mongolia. On the next day, Wang Jinbiao called Chen Gang to his office, where he forced an electric baton into Mr. Chen's mouth and shocked him until he vomited blood and lost consciousness.

In September 2002, Zhong Zhiyuan and Liu Bing of the Second Brigade urged Hong Jinjun, Hao Yisuo and approximately ten other common prisoners to intimidate and assault the practitioners who would not renounce Dafa. Within a few days many Dafa practitioners were severely injured. Chen Gang was abused and severely beaten by the prisoners many times.

In May 2002, Mr. Cong was arrested by the local police and sent to Wuyuan Forced Labor Camp. As soon as he arrived at the camp, under orders from police officers Zhong Zhiyuan and Liu Bing, several prisoners, including Hong Jinjun, HaoYisuo, Hu Jinrong, and Hu Yusheng, started tormenting Mr. Cong. When he arose in the morning, he and two other Dafa practitioners had to repeatedly wash and wipe the windows and toilets until breakfast arrived and then they went to work. When they returned from work at noon, while others rested, the practitioners had to continue washing and wiping until it was time to go back to work. One day, towards the end of January 2003, Mr. Cong was sitting on the bed. Some prisoners reported that he was practicing the Falun Gong exercises. Under orders from officer Liu Bing, prisoners Hong Jinjun, Ma Wubin, Jiang Xiaoping, and Hu Jinrong savagely beat Mr. Cong.

In January 2003, several pages of Dafa teachings were found under Mr. Li's bed, and someone had reported that he was sitting cross-legged (similar to the sitting meditation posture of Falun Gong). For this Mr. Li was taken by Liu Bing to be tortured. In February 2003, while Mr. Li was attending a brainwashing session, Liu Bing discovered a piece of paper with facts about the persecution, attached to the assignment exercise book for the teacher to read. Mr. Li was taken to the office of the team leader, where he was punched and kicked. When Liu punched Mr. Li, he bruised his own hand. Liu immediately switched to using an electric baton to shock Mr. Li.

At the end of 2000, because he went to the appeals office in Beijing, Mr. Lu was sentenced to two years in a forced labor camp. In April 2001, Dafa practitioners in the Third Brigade were forced to run around the sports grounds for an entire morning. The practitioners were forced to run around the track over eighty times. When practitioner Lu Yuxue said, "Treat hardship as joy," some prisoners reported him for quoting the teachings of Falun Dafa. Du Xiangyang and Liu Jun used the electric club to shock Mr. Lu. He was shackled and savagely beaten for at least two hours. He was injured so severely that he was incontinent for over six months. For a long time after, Mr. Lu found it difficult to squat down, and he was mentally traumatized. In January 2002, Mr. Lu was again subjected to electric shocks because he protested the labor camp staff's persecution of Dafa practitioners Ma Yingju, Li Zhenjiang and others.

On September 17, 2000, Mr. Chen was transferred to Wuyuan Forced Labor Camp from Baotou Forced Labor Camp. In March 2001, during an "expose and criticize Falun Gong practitioners" meeting, he protested the persecution of Dafa practitioners led by Mu Jianfeng. He was savagely assaulted on the spot. Mu instructed that Mr. Chen be shackled and sent to solitary confinement. He suffered three days and nights of continuous savage beatings with high-voltage electric clubs and rubber clubs (that can inflict severe internal injuries). Finally, Mr. Chen's whole body was swollen, his head was misshapen, his facial features were completely distorted, and the internal injuries left him incontinent. On top of that, his sentence was extended by three months.

In February 2000, because Mr. Zhao went to appeal at the National Appeals Department, he was arrested and sentenced to a forced labor camp. On September 17, he was transferred from Ximeng Forced Labor Camp to Wuyuan Forced Labor Camp. On the third day he was tortured. During a brainwashing session, Mr. Zhao said, "The Constitution is unable to protect the legal rights and interests of an ordinary citizen." At seven o'clock that evening, Mr. Zhao was asked to go to the team leader's office, where Chai Jianzhong, Section Head of Education, Forced Labor Department of the Autonomous Region, Wei Yuzhi, leader of the Fourth Brigade, and others, used electric clubs and rubber clubs to beat and torture Mr. Zhao until midnight. Mr. Zhao was left bleeding profusely.

After Zhao Lizhi was released from the forced labor camp, he was arrested again by the local police in November and was sentenced to Wuyuan Forced Labor Camp for three years.

In October 2000, during a brainwashing session, Liu Sizhe, Secretary of the Fourth Brigade, hung up Mr. Xu from the heating pipes and shocked him with an electric club for almost an hour. Mr. Xu's face was charred, and his skin was deeply bruised. Then he was sent to solitary confinement for three days, where the only food he was given was pig fodder. Every day, various administrative leaders ordered electric shocks and severe beatings for Mr. Xu. On one occasion two electric clubs were used at the same time.

In 2000, Mr. Cao was transferred from Ximeng Forced Labor Camp to Wuyuan Forced Labor Camp. When he first arrived, a ringleader spoke to him and threatened, "If you Falun Gong practitioners do not become transformed, you will be killed, put in a coffin, and end up with a piece of granite over your head." In the face of such a violent threat, Mr. Cao remained steadfast with his righteousness unmoved. Afraid that he would influence others, Mr. Cao was sent to another division, where two criminal prisoners monitored him 24 hours a day. After work, Mr. Cao had to sit on the bed and was not allowed to move.

Dafa practitioners in the Fourth Brigade, Cao Feng, Zhou Ruilin and Feng Tianzhi were forced to do extra hours of hard physical labor outdoors for refusing to abandon their steadfast belief in Falun Dafa. On July 20, 2001, their terms were extended by three months with trumped-up charges of "inciting Dafa practitioners to defy the detention center staff."

(Clearwisdom.net) Since July 20, 1999, several officials from Jitan City, Jiangsu Province have directly commanded a group of police to brutally suppress and persecute Dafa practitioners. These officials include Party Secretary of the Political and Legal Committee, Zhang Jianhua, the president of the municipal public security bureau, Gong Wenfei, and the director of the "610 Office" and the vice president of the municipal public security bureau, Cai Weiping. Successively, more than 40 Dafa practitioners were illegally sent to forced labor camp. Furthermore, two Dafa practitioners who produced Dafa truth-clarification materials were sentenced to 10 years and 8 years, respectively.

Of these leaders, Zhuang Yan and Li Da from the municipal education bureau acted as the coordinators of this brutal persecution. Among practitioners in the entire city who were illegally sentenced to forced labor education, half of them were from the education system. In the last several years, the authorities continuously carried out surveillance of Dafa practitioners in this city, and the brainwashing sessions were held non-stop. Since the beginning of last October, many Dafa practitioners were kidnapped to brainwashing classes. Dafa practitioner Xu Aihua has been sentenced to five years after she was detained for one month and refused to renounce Dafa. Dafa practitioner Wang Lanfang is still being detained. Yu Yaosheng and his younger sister broke out of detention with righteous thoughts after being held for eight days.

The persecutors in this city are still extremely rampant, which indicates that the practitioners still have omissions in forming one indestructible body. In particular, we have not done well in clarifying the truth to the general public. (Clearwisdom.net) Dafa disciples all know that as today's people are drifting along in the big dye vat that is modern society, their standard of thinking has deviated from the standard that gods established for human beings a long time ago. So if a person wants to cultivate, Master first has to remove that person's name from hell. After that, the person can start by behaving as a human being in an upright and dignified manner, based on the standard that gods established for human beings. Then that person becomes a good human being among people step by step, until he becomes an even better human being, all the way until he is able to completely transcend humanness and becomes a Buddha, Dao or God of the high realms.

It has been 12 years since Dafa began to spread in the human world, and Fa-rectification has reached the final stage of the final stage. There are still a few isolated practitioners who have gone along with the extremely warped, degenerated standard of today's people for a long time in terms of their thoughts and conduct when it comes to their relationships with members of the opposite sex, and they still call themselves Dafa disciples. If those people don't wake up and do everything they can to make up for their mistakes, they will lose their final predestined opportunities.

In April of 2003, while explaining the Fa at the Metropolitan New York Fa Conference, Master for the first time answered a question on the issue of a man and woman having an affair. A problem like this is supposed to be something that a person addresses on his own when he first decides to begin cultivation, not an issue that should exist among Dafa cultivators as a group. In the past, in the community of cultivators, whether it was the Buddha School, the Dao School, or the Qimen practice, such a problem was not allowed to exist. If anyone dared to break the rule, he would be considered a wretch and permanently expelled from that school of practice. Yet during last year's Metropolitan New York Fa Conference, while harshly scolding those people who still make mistakes when it comes to their relationships with members of the opposite sex and doing things that "make them undeserving of even the title 'Dafa student'! They don't even deserve to be called 'human beings,' and yet they still call themselves 'Dafa disciples'," Master still repeated again and again his hope for those people to strive to improve and not force Master to give up on them.

Master's benevolence in saving all sentient beings has touched everyone deeply. At that time, the people who had these problems were all strongly shaken and determined to correct themselves. Almost a year has gone by, yet some people still don't have the urgent desire to correct themselves completely, some people are still struggling with themselves and going back and forth, and some people are still trying to find excuses for themselves. Such people who don't know the true meaning of self-respect and self-worth are present both inside and outside of Mainland China. Even though there are very few of them, they are still soiling Dafa's reputation and having a very bad influence. Actually when it comes to making mistakes on relationships between members of the opposite sex, even in a human society where morality has degenerated badly, it is still looked down upon by ordinary people who insist on acting in an upright manner and conducting themselves well. Genuine Dafa disciples would be even less apt to condone those dirty thoughts and actions. The old forces wouldn't let go of people who have this kind of problem because they have found the biggest excuse to "test" them.

Under the environment in Mainland China where the persecution is still going on, those few isolated individuals who fall under the above category have caused very serious damage to their local situations. For example, when few isolated individuals at a certain place in Liaoning Province developed this situation, the people who were involved and others around them were unable to obtain clear understandings on this subject from the perspective of Fa-rectification cultivation in a timely manner and developed many conflicts, which resulted in all kinds of losses to the local truth-clarification activities. Members of a certain team in a city nearby also had problems with people having affairs, which resulted in continuous xinxing conflicts. The conflicts became very big, to the point where team members were arrested by police. People who persecute Dafa also used it as an excuse to slander Dafa. Similar situations also occurred in the region around Benxi, which resulted in the vast majority of local practitioners being arrested. It took several months before Benxi practitioners were able to resume their activities to produce truth-clarifying materials and resume their work to clarify the truth. In addition, because their xinxing couldn't meet the basic standard of a cultivator, those people who have problems with relationships between members of the opposite sex are usually also quite attached to fame and self-interest, and tend to be self-centered. They are often selfish and wasteful when it comes to spending money or resources.

Such isolated individuals also exist in Mainland China outside of truth-clarifying material sites. They also exist outside of Mainland China. Even though they haven't caused direct damage to many Dafa disciples and even people of the world the way that those at material sites do, the nature of their behavior is the same. They are all piling on immense amounts of karma onto themselves. At the same time, they are also soiling Dafa disciples' reputation and their actions are an insult to Dafa. Even if they put themselves among Dafa disciples, they are unable to play the role of validating the Fa the way that Dafa disciples do. They're facing the issue of whether they can be responsible to their own lives.

Cultivation is voluntary. For those who don't want to correct themselves or say they want to correct themselves but are still searching for excuses not to correct themselves, we don't want to say anything more to them here. We would like to say a few more words to those who have the genuine desire to correct themselves but face very strong obstacles.

First, every single person who wants to correct oneself decides to do so in the face of Master's solemn warning and boundless benevolence. But in order to truly solve the problem, the person needs to not only know that it is the requirement from Master, the person must also memorize all the relevant teachings from Master, take them to heart, and truly learn to understand why Master made such a requirement from the perspective of Fa principles. Only then, can such a person completely correct himself. When necessary, a person should also send righteous thoughts more frequently to cleanse himself or herself while concentrating on eliminating his or her warped notions and thought karma.

Second, one should study the relevant teachings of Master on how to behave as a human being and the standard for a cultivator

In "Fa-Lecture During the 2003 Lantern Festival at the U.S. West Fa Conference," Master told us,

"In fact, today's human race would have been destroyed a long time ago if it weren't for the Fa-rectification. The standard of the human race's thinking is already at a level lower than hell."

Why does Master say that "the standard of the human race's thinking is already at a level lower than hell?" If a person who wants to correct himself can't answer this question, he must make up the lesson of the moral standard of a human being. It is because cultivation begins from being a good person among ordinary people. But being "a good person" isn't determined by the moral standards of the modern humankind. It is determined by the standard established by gods. If one continues to incorrectly look at the standard that is lower than that of human beings as the standard for human beings, he will hold himself back at a realm lower than that of a human being. If a person wakes up upon "the great disclosure of the truth," it will be already too late.

Those people who break the rule when it comes to relationships between members of the opposite sex frequently think that people in today's society "all behave like that" and compared to many people, they are doing pretty well. Isn't this the same as what Master pointed out in Zhuan Falun,

"When some people do bad things and you point it out to them, they don't even believe you-they really can't believe they're doing something wrong. Some people size themselves up with the fallen moral standard, and they think they're better than other people. That's because even the standard for measuring has changed."

"but it doesn't matter how mankind's moral standard changes, the nature of the universe doesn't change, and it is the only standard for determining who's good and who's bad. So to be a cultivator you have to take the nature of the universe as your guide for improving yourself. You can't go by ordinary people's standards. If you want to return to your original, true self, if you want to raise your level by cultivating, you have to live by this standard."

Cultivation depends on one's own efforts. If one truly wants to cultivate, he should take the initiative to ask himself to do things according to the teaching of Master and assimilate to Dafa.

The moral standard of modern humankind has become extremely degenerated. Because they see it all the time, people who fall down alongside modern humankind are not aware of it. Actually if one makes even the most casual comparison to what took place in the past, he will see how much the human moral standard has fallen. The things that people in the past viewed as crimes and extremely shameful acts are now viewed as things that bring immense pleasure and are extremely fashionable. For example, when it comes to members of the opposite sex, modern people usually put emphasis on looks and sex appeal, and take character and self-restraints lightly. They take having a relationship with members of the opposite sex as casually as having a meal or a drink of water. They act shamelessly in order to satisfy their lust, and there are even those who engage in homosexual activities. But what kind of moral standard did people in the past use with regard to members of the opposite sex? Ancient Chinese people stressed that members of the opposite sex shouldn't touch each other. They thought those who tried to use sexual appeal to draw attention to themselves are flighty and unrestrained. Even a husband and a wife should "respect each other like honored guests and treat each other as friends." They viewed "sex games" as "shame of a husband and wife." The above are just a few examples.

When it comes to the marital relationship, modern people universally view the feelings that the husband and the wife have toward each other as the key for maintaining a marriage. Some people feel there is nothing wrong with getting a divorce when someone else comes along. Yet the Bible told people that humans are created by God and when a man and a woman get together they become one; once God arranges two people to be husband and wife, they can't go their separate ways on their own; any man who divorces his wife and marries someone else is committing adultery and letting down his wife; if a wife abandons her husband and marries someone else, she too is committing adultery. Having unsanctioned sexual activities (including premarital sexual activities) is also strictly forbidden and detested by God. Yahweh told men that they couldn't abandon their wives unless they were unfaithful. The old Eastern culture that is passed down by gods views an unhappy marriage as the result of both parties having karma. Instead of finding excuses to get away from each other, the two people should pay back the karmic debt that they owe while going through conflicts in their marriage. From this, we can see that "emotional discord" isn't an excuse condoned by gods for a divorce.

As for the ceremony that should be held to mark a marriage, Master pointed out in his Fa lecture during the U.S. East Coast Fa Conference in March of 1999,

"In the past, in China, when people got married, they needed the approval of both heaven and earth. That was why getting married was called 'bowing to heaven and earth.' They needed acceptance from parents-they had to bow to their parents. In Western societies, they needed it to be accepted by their Lord and God. So they went to church and pledged to the Lord. The Lord or God would have been your witness, testifying to your union. In today's Western societies, these norms have been broken. Without ceremonies, two people can just move in together. Without any restrictions, when they're happy, they're together-if not, one can just find another partner. This is unacceptable. As students of Dafa, you should at least understand this little bit of principle. Sexual freedom in the West has created a tremendous amount of karma. It appears to me that people coming from the East are even worse. You have to pay attention to these matters. Humans are said to have declined-isn't it a problem if cultivators do even worse than everyday people? At least allow ordinary human society to consider you a legal husband and wife."

From this, one can see that a solemn ceremony is linked to the inner meaning of a marriage as something bestowed upon by gods.

We'd like to stress one last point. To those who are still in a mess when it comes to their relationships with members of the opposite sex and are committing crimes against gods, this is a serious warning: the benevolence and dignity of Dafa exist side by side, and each person chooses his own future. If you still don't cherish Master's benevolence, upon the great disclosure of the truth and losing your predestined opportunities, you will be placed at a position that you chose for yourselves, a position that is lower than that of the humankind. What awaits you in the future is endless regret and paying back the debt. Do you really want to lose your eternal future and that of all the sentient beings who depend on you for the sake of that little bit of degenerated so-called "enjoyment" that is in front of you in the human world?

(Clearwisdom.net) To "point out" is to let others know about their mistakes. On the other hand, to "point fingers" means not only letting them know about their mistakes but also doing so with the intension of blaming them. Teacher had said in teaching the Fa, that he requires us to point out fellow practitioners' mistakes with good intentions. Actually, the Fa requires us to not have any other mentalities when pointing out mistakes, in order to let fellow practitioners really understand their inadequacies and improve.

In the process of our Fa-rectification cultivation, because we cannot truly put ourselves in others' shoes in considering problems and in pointing out practitioners' inadequacies, we add our own mentalities and often unintentionally turn pointing out fellow practitioners' inadequacies into accusations.

When the old forces see this situation, in order to make us improve, they intensify this situation in order to make us eliminate each other's attachments. This could cause complaints after conflicts among practitioners, pointing fingers at each other, and thinking that it is others' responsibility. This does not solve the problem efficiently and causes practitioners to get entangled in conflicts, delaying the three things that we must do, and delaying the process of Fa-rectification.

In these segments of the Fa, I realized that Teacher has told us that when we point out fellow practitioners' inadequacies we should hold the mentality of truly being responsible to him or her in order to be more effective. Pointing out human society's situation is being responsible to society and the cultivation community, and it does not have any implication of pointing fingers at human society. In this way, it has a good effect. We should follow and do what Teacher has done. In this way it leaves a correct path of cultivation for beings in the future.

This is my personal understanding, if there is anything inappropriate, please kindly point it out.

(Clearwisdom.net) Near the end of 2000, we rented four apartments in Tong County, which is a suburb of Beijing. We made truth-clarification materials there and also used the apartments to accommodate practitioners from out of town who came to Beijing to appeal for Dafa. One night, however, police broke into the apartments, arresting a dozen practitioners and confiscating computers and other equipment, which was a huge loss. After the incident, we met with a practitioner who was there that night and she told us what had happened:

That night over a dozen practitioners who came from other areas to appeal in Beijing were all studying the Fa and sharing experiences with each other. Some of them had gone to Tiananmen in order to validate the Fa several times and had escaped detention with righteous thoughts. One practitioner was a mother carrying a small child. Another had just been released from a labor camp. This practitioner was still very weak and required help when using the bathroom due to having been on a hunger strike for such a long period of time. His firm belief in Teacher and Dafa greatly inspired all of us. At around 10:00pm, we planned to go to bed, but felt something unusual downstairs (there were practitioners on the second floor of the apartment making posters). We looked outside through the window and saw police vans and many policemen. We figured something was wrong on the second floor. Immediately, we locked the door, put away the Dafa materials, turned off the lights and sat together. During that time we did not know about sending forth-righteous thoughts yet, but we all had the thought of not allowing the evil to open the door. All of us were very calm and we encouraged each other, forming an indestructible body.

Soon we heard a knock on the door but paid no attention to it and continued reciting the Fa. After a while, we heard someone opening the lock with a master key. We sent out one thought: we would not allow the police to open the door. As a result, the police tried for quite some time but still could not open the door. Then the police started bashing the door with some kind of object. Finally they broke the lock, rushed into the room and ordered us to go downstairs. We all refused and recited Teacher's poems together. We shouted, "Falun Dafa is good!" Our words broke the silence of the night and resonated throughout the entire apartment complex. It moved the hearts of those who heard it and frightened the evil. The police carried us downstairs and pushed us into their vans. We kept on reciting the Fa in the vans. It was already midnight. The small child I had previously mentioned was very good that night; he did not cry at all and it was as if he understood what was happening.

After driving for over an hour in the drizzling rain, the police suddenly stopped the vans. They opened the door and asked us to get out. We did not move and they had to carry us out one by one. The police were exhausted from doing that and then started to leave. However, just at the moment when they started the vans, they were stunned to see us practitioners lying on the ground in front of the vans in order to stop them from moving. The police then had to jump out of the vans and drag us to side of the road. But once they let go of us, we then ran over again to stop the vans. In the end, the police had to tightly hold the practitioners while asking the drivers to move the vans. After the vans started moving, they let go of the practitioners and rushed over to jump in the vans, running away as fast as they could. Looking at each other, we saw that we were all covered with mud. We could not hold back our laughter.

Later we learned that the police had dropped us off in the village of Langfang, 31 miles away from Beijing.

At the time, we had no idea where we were. It was dark all around and we fumbled our way out the village. When dawn arrived, we asked the people we met where we were and from them learned it was Langfang City. We bought tickets and went back to Beijing.

The experience of that night is a precious memory. We realized that as long as we firmly resist the evil and form an indestructible body, we can deny the arrangements of the old forces.

(Clearwisdom.net) After July 20, 1999, I seldom write about my own cultivation experiences. Even this time, it was only after overcoming many obstacles that I finished writing this article. Its purpose is to help practitioners encourage and motivate each other and improve together.

In mid-November, our local police station arrested many practitioners one night. They broke through windows and doors, and forced their way in practitioners' homes. Everything was rummaged through and turned into a mess, and even the wooden floors were dug up. They searched very carefully, and they took away all the Dafa books and materials, and videotaped so-called "evidence" against our will. Vehicles broadcasting slanderous attacks on Dafa scurried in the streets. I heard later that practitioners had put up truth clarification banners in local government buildings, in public security and police stations, and the leaders of the local government had seen the banners. This greatly frightened them. They tried to force practitioners to write letters of guarantee and statements renouncing Falun Gong. Anyone who refused to do so was arrested.

The police took action and searched for me for three days at my home and my work place, but they did not find me. On the fourth night, I did not stay at home, but I could not fall asleep. I thought, "Am I hiding away from the evil? Becoming homeless is an excuse for the old forces to persecute Dafa practitioners. They would blame us for abandoning our family as a result of practicing Dafa. Dafa disciples should first think about what kind of consequence it might have on Dafa no matter what we do. We should walk on the path that Master has arranged for us."

After I understood the situation from the perspective of the Fa, I went back home on the morning of the fifth day, and went to work openly in a dignified manner. At about 8:30 in the morning, four policemen followed me to my workplace. I would not cooperate with the evil, and kept sending forth righteous thoughts to eliminate all the evil arrangements. After about 10 minutes, they showed their real face, and started to grab me and drag me to the police car. I resisted and refused to get into their vehicle.

People at the scene got very angry with the police. Some tried to reason with them and some said, "Why is it that good people are not allowed to speak out? What kind of society is this?" I thought to myself, "Isn't this a good way to reveal their evil nature? Who is evil and who is righteous is very obvious to everyone." They took both my husband (who is not a practitioner) and I to the police station. Because of all the dragging and grabbing, I was breathing very heavily. A policeman said, "She has heart problems. We mustn't be too rough." (I was sentenced to three years of forced labor in May 2002. But the labor camp refused to accept me and sent me back in Sept. 2002 because of my "heart problems," for fear of being responsible for my death.) I spoke loudly, "You will be held responsible if anything happens to me today." Then I kept silent and sent forth righteous thoughts.

The evil used all kinds of tricks to get me to sign my name, but I refused. Then they tried to move me with sentiment by asking my husband and my mother to persuade me, "You can go home as long as you sign the paper." I said, "I don't have a name! A Dafa disciple's name can't be insulted by anybody." They said, "The higher authorities specifically demanded that you must sign a letter of guarantee. We have to follow orders. If we can not finish this task, we will lose our jobs." I said to them, "In history, all the movements aimed at persecuting kind people ended up with failure. And those who were directly responsible for the movements were tried by history. You should not follow the higher authorities and take a wrong path." I went on to tell them, "No matter what you decide to do today, I won't form any opinions about you, but your attitude towards me, good or bad, won't change my mind. I came back from three years of forced labor last time. I will still be able to go back home this time and do what I should do."

Then they started to prepare paperwork for my detention, which only needed the signature of the police department head to become effective. Tears ran from my eyes. I deeply felt the difficulties of Dafa disciples during Fa-Rectification. I said to Master, "What else could I do to not comply with the evil and to break the arrangements of the old forces? How could I completely eliminate this persecution?" I immediately remembered what Master said, "Having heard the Dao in the morning, one can die in the evening" and understood its deep meaning. In front of my eyes, there appeared the word "faith." I felt determined and I decided to leave the matter of life and death with Master. I only held a firm faith in the Fa.

At noon, only one policeman was left to keep an eye on me. I thought that it was time for me to leave. Thus I walked out of the police station openly with that policeman being present. Later I heard that the police asked somebody else to sign for me in order to keep their job. Now I can go to work as normal and clarify the truth to save sentient beings again. Lately, a few other practitioners have also been released.

The reason the old forces were able to take advantage of my omissions in this incident was because I did not have a good understanding of what Master said about completely stopping the participation of the old forces and putting an end to this persecution. I did not send forth righteous thoughts well, and therefore allowed the evil to have time to recover. Now I will follow the Fa principles Master has taught us and keep up with the progress of Fa-rectification.

(Clearwisdom.net) Sending forth righteous thoughts is one of the three things Teacher has asked practitioners to do. Through doing that, large amounts of evil in other dimensions and those hidden in practitioners' own dimensional fields have been cleared up. This has lessened the evil's persecution of Dafa and Dafa practitioners before the Fa-rectification reaches the human world, and plays a big role in pushing forward the progress of Fa-rectification and saving sentient beings.

Teacher has talked about sending forth righteous thoughts in many of his lectures. Teacher also specifically published articles like "The Effect of Righteous Thoughts," "Righteous Thoughts" etc., which presents the great importance of sending forth righteous thoughts. Teacher explained very clearly in his articles the reason and the essentials of doing that. Here I would like to share with fellow practitioners my understanding and what I have enlightened to during sending forth righteous thoughts.

The formulas for sending forth righteous thoughts "The Fa rectifies the Cosmos, the Evil is completely eliminated. The Fa rectifies Heaven and Earth, immediate retribution in this lifetime" is something that Teacher has given to us to eliminate the evil, which is also the reinforcement of the power of Teacher's mighty Fa and carries the power of the Fa. We should cherish it and make good use of it. Whether we can use it well depends on a practitioner's cultivation level and his state of mind while sending forth righteous thoughts. If the heart is not tranquil, the mind would not be righteous and the thoughts would not be pure either, and it would be like making a gesture to do it superficially and would not exert its real power.

Sending forth righteous thoughts should not be limited by time. If we have more time then we should do it longer, if we have less time then we can do it shorter, but it should not be shorter than 15 minutes. The first 5 minutes of cleaning ourselves is very important, which not only prepares for the next 10 minutes, but is also an important step to rectify ourselves and eliminate the bad thoughts, karma, bad notions, and external interference in our minds. To keep doing this over a long period of time will enable us to have strong righteous thoughts in our everyday life, and to leave no omission for the evil to take advantage of. Besides the four fixed times every day, we should appropriately increase the number of times of sending forth righteous thoughts according to our conditions and environments.

Some practitioners cannot see other dimensions at the moment and are therefore unable to directly know the effects of sending forth righteous thoughts. After a period of time they may start to doubt their ability and the effect. This in turn affects the effect of their sending forth righteous thoughts and decreases their enthusiasm and initiative in doing so. My suggestion is that practitioners have a good study on the articles "Enlightenment" and "Why One Cannot See" in Essentials for Further Advancement. Practitioners who fail to view things from the standpoint of the Fa, at least on this issue, have reduced themselves to the level of everyday people. As Dafa practitioners we should know that what Teacher has told us to do is definitely right.

When sending forth righteous thoughts, the contents should be concise and highly condensed. Otherwise, thinking too much would take up valuable time, and too many specific contents would limit the full use of the divine power. Of course this does not include those special situations where evils in the local areas need to be eliminated urgently.

Seeing that a fellow practitioner was arrested, some practitioners added the following contents when sending forth righteous thoughts: "Eliminate all the evil in other dimensions that interferes with and persecutes this practitioner; reinforce this practitioner's righteous thoughts and acts so that he can break out of the evil's den as soon as possible to rejoin the mighty torrent of the Fa-rectification." I don't think it is appropriate to say, "break out of the evil's den," as it means that the practitioner only leaves the evil's den, yet the den still exists and can still detain other practitioners. Thus, we should change it to "break out and destroy the evil's den." It is possible that the surface formality of the evil's den in the human world, like detention centers and labor camps, still exist, but they are only worthy of detaining criminals, not Dafa practitioners.

The mighty torrent of the Fa-rectification is taking giant strides. The old forces have all been cleared away; what's remaining and still performing are those behind-the-scenes helpers of the old forces and rotten demons, who sought to ruin the Fa in other dimensions as well as wretched humans. Let's send forth the purest and most powerful righteous thoughts to completely annihilate the remaining evil in other dimensions and save sentient beings. I hope that those practitioners who haven't done well would catch up and do well. Let's live up to Teacher's teachings and meet the standard of Fa-rectification period Dafa disciples.

(Clearwisdom.net) At 9:00 a.m. of November 12, three people from the National Security Department stormed into my house. I asked them which unit they were from. They did not tell me they were from the "610 Office." One of them carried a video recorder, and another held a camera. They began shooting as soon as they entered.

I immediately began to ask them: "Who permitted you to shoot this footage? It is against the law for you to enter my house like this." Then they stopped shooting. I said: "The 610 organization has been internationally condemned for persecuting over 100 million people. Did you know that? The Global Coalition to Bring Jiang to Justice was established in Washington DC on September 30. Do you really want to be associated with the persecutors of Falun Gong?"

My wife entered and recognized them: it was they who abducted her on July 5 of last year. I questioned them: "Who gave you the right to abduct Falun Dafa practitioners without reason? You personally set up show trials and interrogated Dafa practitioners for more than 20 hours at a time. Are you aware of the crimes you have committed?" They explained that the abduction of my wife was just a summons.

I said: "You have had contact with Falun Dafa practitioners for 4 years now. You know that they are good people. How does it sit with your conscience when you arrest us and send us to prison for material gain? Facing a future society with an upright legal system, your crimes could not possibly be ignored."

Recently I read in our Master's article: "Beyond the Limits of Forbearance," from Essentials for Further Advancement II ,

Master has talked about this issue clearly in previous Fa lectures. I realized from the Fa that for those policemen to whom Dafa practitioners have many times clarified the truth, if they still do not have righteous thoughts and continue with their shameless acts, Dafa practitioners should confront them about every crime they have committed. Through this we can awaken them with compassion.

(Clearwisdom.net) In the fall of 2003, thirteen Falun Dafa practitioners in Dehui City, Jilin Province had their prison terms extended. Their family members jointly went to Beijing to appeal. This was the first occurrence in China of non-practitioners collectively going to Beijing to appeal on behalf of Falun Dafa practitioners.

Thirteen Falun Dafa practitioners in Dehui were imprisoned. Not long ago, the Ministry of Public Security issued a notice on television, announcing that extended imprisonment was illegal. The local Dafa practitioners realized that this was a good opportunity to use the law to immediately release these Dafa practitioners who were imprisoned. They found the Dafa practitioners' family members and explained the situation to them. At first, some family members were afraid of being implicated and did not dare to promote justice for their family members. The practitioners patiently clarified the truth about Dafa to them and told them that their family members were imprisoned illegally, and that it was the legal system that was at fault, not their family members. After their family members understood, they began to appeal collectively. They went to the related municipal and provincial departments. After they did not obtain a solution at those places, they reached an agreement to go to Beijing together to appeal for help from the Ministry of Public Security.

When the Dafa practitioners' family members went to the Ministry of Public Security in Beijing and appealed for their family members in prison and requested their release, the Ministry of Public Security assembled many police vehicles and ordered many police to drive away the appealing family members. A lot of police in the square dragged the family members away and also tried to deceive them by saying, "Come with us and we will solve your problems when you return." The family members understood that this was a lie, and absolutely refused. One of them, an elderly gentleman, told the police dragging him: "Let go of me immediately! Today, we are not going anywhere. Solve the problem here at the Ministry of Public Security, because the announcement was issued by the Ministry of Public Security." At that time, there were many people congregated at the front door of the Ministry of Public Security. When the police faced this scene, they sent a person to ask for instructions from the leader of the Ministry of Public Security. Later on, concerned personnel in the Ministry of Public Security gave an answer to these people and issued instructions to the Provincial Public Security Department and the Dehui Municipal Public Security Bureau to immediately solve the problem of the thirteen Dafa practitioners having had their prison terms unreasonably extended.

After the family members returned to Jilin Province, the Jilin Province Public Security Department delivered the document to the Dehui Municipal Public Security Bureau. The local public security and other related departments tried to avoid taking responsibility, and they refused to carry out the instructions stated in the document. The family members were extremely indignant. Therefore, some several dozen people went to the Municipal Public Security Bureau directly.

The Municipal Public Security Bureau stationed four police officers in front of the gate to defend the front door, not allowing Dafa practitioners and the family members to enter. However, there were still several Dafa practitioners and some family members who made it into the building. They found the chief of the public security bureau to discuss the issue with him. Some people questioned the chief: "Do you say Falun Gong is good or not good?" The chief of the public security bureau said without thinking, "Good!" After that, he changed the statement immediately and said: "No, no, no. This is not what I meant to say." The Falun Dafa practitioners and their family members then asked him: "The Ministry of Public Security announced on television that extending prison terms is illegal. How do you explain this?" The chief blurted out, "Do your still believe what the CCTV says? It's all lies." The family members then asked him: "The Tiananmen Square self-immolation is also false?" The chief said offhandedly, "That is for sure." But he changed the statement immediately: "No, no, I did not say anything." The words of justice of the Dafa practitioners and the family members rendered the officials speechless.

Some officials in Dehui City prepared to secretly bring these thirteen Dafa practitioners to trial. However, the news spread like wildfire. They originally planned to have the trial at 9 a.m., but they secretly changed the trial time to 7 a.m. After the local Dafa practitioners heard about this situation, they hung a number of small loudspeakers on the power poles along the road from the detention center to the courthouse the night before, and then went to the spot with Dafa practitioners' family members early the next day. When the police vehicles in which the Dafa practitioners were sent under escort were driven to the courthouse, the sound of "Falun Dafa is Good" resounded through the crowd. The police hurried to get out of the vehicles and drove the crowd away, but the voice of justice continued. The police were at a loss. At the intersection, the speaker resounded: "World Falun Dafa Radio Station broadcasts to you ..." The police attempted to take down the small loudspeakers from the trees and the power poles. However, they were too high up and they had to ask the fire department for help. Some Dafa practitioners took photographs of this performance by the police. Later on, they were found by the police and two practitioners were arrested. Dafa practitioner Sun Dawei managed to escape after he was arrested.

The Falun Dafa practitioners' family members witnessed the scene of how Dafa practitioners braved such danger for the sake of justice. They thought it was amazing that Mr. Sun Dawei was able to get away under the police's watch. The people witnessed in person Dafa practitioners' great compassion, as well as the behavior of the government officials and the underhanded methods employed by the police in this contest between good and evil. Many Dafa practitioners' family members were amazed by the righteous strength of Dafa practitioners, and they too started to practice cultivation.

(Clearwisdom.net) I don't practice Falun Gong, but I have met many people who do. I know they are all good people. They are honest, have a light-hearted attitude about personal gain and loss, are happy to help others. They conduct themselves strictly according to the principles of "Truth-Compassion-Forbearance." They truly reach the state of selflessness and altruism, considering others first.

It is such good people who are ruthlessly persecuted and suppressed; it is such good people who are imprisoned in the labor camps, detention centers, mental hospitals, brainwashing classes and other places to become subjected to inhuman tortures and murder; it is such good people who are forced to wander about on the streets to avoid illegal arrest, and have their family broken up by the officials and police from the "610 Offices," the public security departments and police departments.

As an observer I must tell all the good people the things that occur around me, and I am appealing to you all: do not fall into Jiang Zemin's trap again! Do not take in the lies and rumors dished out in the media, and do not persecute these good people who believe in "Truth-Compassion-Forbearance!"

In my hometown, Shengli Township, Tangyuan County, Heilongjiang Province, one Falun Gong practitioner was sentenced; two practitioners were sent to a labor camp, many were detained; a few practitioners were forced into exile to avoid illegal arrest, and many practitioners were fined.

Tang Xianguo is one of those Dafa practitioners. He is from Fuxing Village, Shengli Township. He was fined 5,000 Yuan [the average monthly income for an urban Chinese employee is about 500 Yuan] for not giving up his belief and of going to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. Furthermore, his face was badly beaten and was bleeding. The perpetrators covered his whole body with wounds when he was arrested while giving out flyers. He was then sent to a public security department and detained. The criminals in the same jail cell forced him to curse and scold his Teacher, but he refused to do so. That is why the criminal forced him to stand upside down against a wall. The criminal then fiercely kicked his chest, and used his elbow to fiercely pummel his back. The criminal also continuously poured cold water on his head, for a long time. After a half year of torture, the practitioner Tang Xianguo was sentenced to four years in prison. He is now in the Jiamusi Prison and is still eduring torture.

Jing Guanglin and Yao Shuqin are two of my neighbors in the village. Both of them are about 50 to 60 years old. When they were in the labor camp at Jiamusi, besides the daily excessive workload and inhuman treatments, they were still cursed at and beaten. There was a time that Jing Guanglin protested against the mistreatment and abuse. He tried to escape but he failed and was captured. He then was imprisoned in a small cell. The police used electric batons and their fists to beat him and also kicked him mercilessly.

I truly hate to see this tragedy, but I believe that justice and morality, as well as the legal system, will punish the depraved people who cruelly harm and persecute the good people.

Here, I appeal to you once again: Do not persecute these innocent and good people! They are all people deserving of much respect.

"When your boss wrongfully scolds you, it is already quite a skill to remain calm. It's even stronger if you really are calm inside. And that is something I can achieve since I started practicing Falun Gong," says Matthias Slaats, who is a fervent adherent of this Chinese teaching. Falun Gong is mostly known here as the [practice] that has been outlawed in China for a few years now and of which the adherents are being persecuted. But what is it exactly that Falun Gong contains? "It's a way to improve your moral qualities. Thanks to the exercises the body also becomes healthier and purer."

Matthias Slaats (31), from Gent, and a Chinese expatriate Yu He (31) demonstrate the slow exercises they practice twice a week, accompanied by music. On their face is a concentrated yet blissful expression. The lotus posture might look rather painful to a lot of people. "Of course it hurts a little at the beginning," says Matthias. "But after a while it becomes automatic. And this is typical for Falun Gong, also called Falun Dafa. We strive to obtain a higher quality in life and respect a number of moral values."

In practice this means that adherents of Falun Gong strive for Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance, three values that, according to the teachings, are the characteristics of the universe. "Thus we try to think and act less from the perspective of our personal interest," states Slaats. "This makes us better people and improves the quality of our lives and our environment."

Immediately you can ask yourself if you need Falun Gong to be a little bit more tolerant: "Thanks to the teachings you get guidance and support to take care of that," explains Matthias. "This is needed, because in practice it is not always uncomplicated. In the beginning, if you react calmly to conflicts, you get the feeling that you are being trifled with. But in the longer term it pays back and people look at you as a calm, pleasant person and you will automatically get involved in less conflicts," says Yu He.

"Three years ago I came into contact with Falun Gong, since then I have become a different human being. Before that, going out used to be a way of release for me, now I don't need that anymore," says Matthias.

Then the question still remains what purpose these [exercises] serve. "Falun Gong doesn't only cultivate the mind, but also the body," tells He Yu. "Thanks to five easy exercises you can feel the energy in your body being set free. When you practice the exercises everything frees up automatically. The goal is not to think about it. You have to clear your mind and then you can do the exercises automatically."

"You can compare it a little bit with yoga, but there is a fundamental difference," says Slaats. "It is not the goal to run away from the real world for a moment. The idea in Falun Gong is exactly that you apply the calmness that you achieve during the exercises in daily life. I work as a project manager and that means I often run into situations of stress. The good thing about Falun Gong is that you can, during those moments, reach the same state that you can reach during the exercises."

"What the teachings of Falun Gong provide is the basis. The rest you do yourself. Everyone will bring these three principles into practice in a different way. Therefore it is all the stranger that the Chinese government regards us as a sect. We have no structure or organization. Everyone is free to believe or do what he wants. We pay no membership fees. We have neither temples nor rituals."

"Initially Falun Gong got support from the Chinese government. People became healthier through practicing Falun Gong and that meant a saving on the healthcare budgets. But when the number of adherents of Falun Gong estimated to be 100 million - became bigger then that of the communist party, some people got scared. Now there exists a Gestapo-like police that exists solely to persecute practitioners, leading to hundreds of deaths."

Also Matthias was arrested two years ago when he supported an appeal against the persecution on Tiananmen Square. Last summer, Slaats and some other adherents have filed a complaint against former Chinese state leader Jiang Zemin, accusing him of genocide, torture and crimes against humanity. At this moment the complaint is being examined by the European Court for Human Rights in Strasbourg.

(Clearwisdom.net, January 31, 2004) According to Radio France Internationale's report on January 29, 2004, the Falun Dafa Association filed a lawsuit against Chinese Culture Minister Sun Jiazheng in France.

On January 28, Wednesday, four Falun Gong practitioners filed a lawsuit against the visiting Chinese Culture Minister Sun Jiazheng in the Paris prosecutor's office. The lawsuit complaint said that Sun Jiazheng instigated to eradicate Falun Gong through newspapers, Internet and cultural exhibits.

(Clearwisdom.net, February 1, 2004) Shortly after the Chinese New Year, we received reports that several fellow practitioners in China died as a result of the brutal persecution. Falun Gong practitioners from San Francisco area held candlelight vigil outside the Chinese Consulate to commemorate fellow practitioners Ms. Gao Shiping and Ms. Li Shuli, who were tortured to death in China. Meanwhile, practitioners called on the Chinese government to stop the killing, and punish the chief perpetrator of the persecution, Jiang Zemin and the murderers.

Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Gao Shiping and Ms. Li Shuli were tortured to death in December, 2003 in Gaoyang Labor Camp, Baoding City, and Hehuakeng Labor Camp, Tangshan City, Hebei Province, respectively. Because Ms. Gao refused to give up her practice of Falun Gong, she was severely tortured both physically and mentally in the labor camp. She passed away on December 19, 2003. Another practitioner from Hebei Province, Ms. Li Shuli had suffered three months of various kinds of tortures including being locked up in a small cell, tortured with "killing rope" and "tightly stretched bed". It was learned that "killing rope" and "tightly stretched bed" are two extremely cruel torture methods. (By applying the "Killing rope", the police first soaked in water a long piece of finger-wide rope, then circled the rope around practitioner's neck, tightly enlaced her arms with force. To increase the pain, the police often removed practitioners' clothes and left them with bare arms or only underwear. Usually, it needed more than 3 persons to apply this torture. The police twined the rope around practitioner's arms to her wrists and then tightened the rope. At this point, they pulled practitioner's hands to her back, and passed the rope end through the part which circled her neck, then two police officers used force to tighten the rope and made a knot. The rope becomes tighter and tighter around the body of the practitioner, and makes it more and more difficult for him to breathe. The pain is so intense that the practitioner sometimes loses control of his bladder. There are instances when the rope was tightened enough to break a practitioner's arm.) (When the tightly stretched bed is applied, the four limbs of the practitioner are stretched out and tied to the four corners of an icy-cold metal bed. The practitioner is unable to move at all. Jail guards would even put bricks under the practitioner's back when he is suffering this torture. Then they beat practitioner's legs or order criminal inmates to trample on practitioners' body or use stick or hands to poke practitioners' both sides of his chest. )

After being tortured by jail guard Wang Yulin and a criminal inmate Huang Yongxin, Ms. Li Shuli's physical and mental health were destroyed, and she died in December 2003.

Seventy-year-old San Jose Falun Gong practitioner, Mr. Zeng said, "Out of his jealousy, Jiang single-handedly started the persecution against Falun Gong. Over the past four years, more than 870 Falun Gong practitioners were killed in China. From reports we can see that the tortures applied by those jail guards and other murderers are extremely inhuman. They have already lost their human nature. We cannot allow this persecution to continue. We must bring the chief perpetrator Jiang Zemin and those murderers to justice. In the meanwhile, we call on the Chinese government to end the persecution and stop killing Falun Gong practitioners."

Businessman Mr. Lin said, "Because the Chinese Consulate is a representative of the Chinese government in other countries, we come here to commemorate our fellow practitioners who were killed in the persecution. At the same time, we want to let the officials of the Consulate to learn about the facts of the brutal persecution and overseas Chinese people's concerns."

Outside China, more and more people learned about Falun Gong and have come to support Falun Gong. After learning about the facts, some passersby expressed that the murderers are too inhuman. Some said: "You've done very well, we support you!"

Falun Gong practitioners in different countries have sued Jiang. On January 20, U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit in Chicago accepted Falun Gong practitioners appealing document regarding the lawsuit against Jiang Zemin. Apart from the U.S., Falun Gong practitioners from Belgium, Spain, Germany, Taiwan and Korea successively filed lawsuits against Jiang and his 610 Office. He dares not to go abroad. An international organization was also established to investigate the persecution of Falun Gong. All who participated in the persecution of Falun Gong will be investigated. We hope those who are still committing these crimes to immediately wake up and stop doing it. We hope that they will realize their wrongdoings and help the kind and peaceful Falun Gong practitioners to make up for their past crimes.

(Clearwisdom.net, February 1, 2004) On January the 28th, some delegates attending the international conference on Genocide in the New Era', together with practitioners from Europe, North America and Asia held a press conference in the Swedish Parliament, regarding the French Government's unreasonable arrest of Falun Gong practitioners who had done nothing wrong during the Chinese New Year Parade and Hu Jintao's visit to France.

Marco Hsu, a Danish practitioner, introduced his experience of being arrested by five French policemen when he was watching the Chinese New Year Parade in Paris; he was arrested simply because he was wearing a yellow scarf. He said, "On January 24, when I was watching the Chinese New Year Parade in Paris, two plain-cloth police officers ordered me to put off my yellow scarf, because they said that yellow was not legal that day. I said to the officers, 'I am a Danish citizen. Both France and Denmark are democratic countries. Why is it so in France?' The officers impatiently said, 'You will be responsible for your behavior.' Later, I was taken away by five police officers. On the police van and in the police station, I met more than 10 Falun Gong practitioners who came from Germany and Taiwan. There were also French people who appealed for Tibet. Hsu expressed that it was very improper for France to do so, especially France is a democratic country. He said that he felt ashamed for this and he further understood how harsh the situation that Falun Gong practitioners in China are facing is.

A famous U.S human rights attorney, Ms. Terri Marsh, facilitated a number of human rights lawyers around the world to write and send an open letter to the French Government, expressing their deep regret for what the French Government had done. They also emphasized that this incident has breached the basic requirements of human rights. They urged the French Government to hold an in-depth investigation into this unfortunate issue.

A Canadian human rights lawyer said that it was sad to hear this news. In France, such a democratic country, everyone should be able to express his views. Falun Gong practitioners were arrested without doing anything. This violated the fundamental principles of democratic countries. Furthermore, France was the cradle of democracy, human rights and freedom. When Chinese leader visited France, it was a good opportunity to let him learn about real democracy and freedom. The Chinese leader did not want to see protest, but the western host could tell them that we could not forbid protests, because that is part of the people's rights.

It was reported that at the same time of the press conference, four Falun Gong practitioners filed a lawsuit to the Paris Procuratorate against visiting Chinese Culture Minister Sun Jiazheng, charging him with "crimes of torture".

(Clearwisdom.net) On January 26, the Australian National Day, Melbourne Falun Gong practitioners were invited to participate in the celebration activities of the cities of Greater Dandenong and Kingston. The practitioners' performances were highly commended by the communities. The National Day event organizers of Greater Dandenong invited the practitioners to participate in this event again next year; they also promised to provide practitioners a double-spaced booth so that they will have more space to demonstrate Falun Gong.

Greater Dandenong is located southeast of Melbourne, and is the largest multi-cultural community in Victoria Province. There are many Chinese immigrants here--one out of 5 people is Chinese. The Mayor of Greater Dandenong, Mr. Kevin Walsh, said that he was pleased to see the Falun Gong group participating in the parade as usual.

This is the fourth time practitioners have participated in the National Day parade and other celebration activities of Greater Dandenong, and they have become an important part of the city's largest holiday celebration. This year practitioners' procession included a Tang Attire Show, a Lotus Boat, Fan Dancing and Red Silk Cloth Dancing teams, as well as Falun Dafa banners and flags. Practitioners danced gracefully to the melodious "Pudu" and "Falun Dafa Hao", while from time to time spectators on the sidewalks applauded to show their appreciation. A 4-year old little practitioner in a pink Qipao (traditional Chinese attire for ladies) who was closely following the procession at the end looked so cute that an elderly lady called her a "Chinese Princess."

The organizers of the celebration said that practitioners' elegant dancing and peaceful energy field impressed them deeply. They asked practitioners several times whether practitioners would attend next year. The organizers also proposed to arrange a double-sized booth for practitioners for Falun Gong exercises demonstrations and other performances.

After the parade in Greater Dandenong, some practitioners rushed to Kingston to participate the celebration activities there.

Though the scale of Kingston's celebration event was relatively small, practitioners have been invited to this event every year. The young practitioners played a leading role in this year's performance. They performed the five sets of exercises of Falun Gong, Lotus dancing, bell and drum dancing on a stage located in the center of the meeting place. Practitioners had two booths and both were very close to the center.

The practitioners said that they have been celebrating National Day with local officials and residents every year, and Falun Gong has become an integral part of the community. Practitioners hope that local residents will take the opportunity to learn the truth about the persecution, and that the beauty of Falun Dafa and the value of "Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance" will take root deep in people's hearts.

(Clearwisdom.net) On January 17, 2004, Falun Gong practitioners from San Diego, Orange County, and other areas participated in a parade held in downtown San Diego to commemorate famous civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. and won the second-place award issued by the organizing committee.

Falun Gong practitioners held banners, on which "Falun Dafa" and "A Call for Justice: End the Violence against Falun Gong in China" were written. The banners were very eye-catching in the parade. Practitioners demonstrated the Falun Gong exercises on the delicately decorated float. A dance group of six female practitioners and a drummer group of 20 practitioners displayed traditional oriental culture. When the Falun Gong procession passed by the podium, the parade host read an introduction of Falun Gong and also the banner on float, which read, "The World Needs Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance."

A few practitioners distributed truth-clarifying literature and postcards for rescuing Charles Li, a US citizen who has been illegally imprisoned in China by Jiang's regime. In addition, many organizers of community activities, candidates for mayor and council members contacted Falun Gong practitioners and invited them to participate in the parade and other activities in their communities. The San Diego Union Tribune, the largest newspaper in the area, interviewed practitioners, who told reporters of their wish to display the grace of Dafa to local people in the hope that more people will benefit in mind and body through the practice of Falun Gong, and to call for help to end the persecution against Falun Gong in China.

1. In late May 2002, at Daqing City's Ranghu Road Dulitun Train Station, security officers searched the bags of Daqing City Dafa practitioner Ms. Shi Hongxia, in her 70s, and those of her husband and found a videotape and a VCD. Shi Hongxia and her husband's home was ransacked and they were sent to the Qiqihar Railroad Labor Camp. The perpetrators from the Daqing City Ranghu Road Dulitun Train Station and the Qiqihar Railroad Labor Camp extorted 6,000 Yuan from the elderly couple before releasing them.

2. My name is Li Qinghui, a woman living in Jilin City. Because I practiced Dafa, I was illegally detained for more than 30 days in 1999. In late October 1999, I went to Beijing to appeal for Dafa and was sentenced to one year of forced labor. I was savagely tortured and was forced to do slave labor. As a result I contracted severe heart disease. In January 2001, several practitioners and I were forced into exile in order to avoid further persecution. Later I was arrested two more times and held at different places. The bones in my right leg were shattered from the torture I received while in detention.

3. Village officials from Wangquan County, Hebei Province harassed Dafa practitioner Ms. Chi Guiying numerous times because she persisted in practicing Falun Gong. She was abducted and extorted 750 Yuan. On August 18, 2001 [Chinese lunar calendar], she was again abducted and sent to the Gaoyang Labor Camp, where many practitioners were tortured to death or to near death. In order to protest this persecution, Chi Guiying held a courageous hunger strike for 94 days and was finally released from the labor camp.

4. On January 6, 2002, [Chinese lunar calendar], Dafa practitioners Mr. Mu Qigui and Mr. Li Guilin from Suining City, Sichuan Province were arrested when distributing Dafa truth-clarification materials and were severely beaten. Later, they were transferred to Linquan Detention Center in Suining City and held there for 37 days. Then they were transferred to the Wujiawan Detention Center, where they were held for 18 days. They were released after their family paid 1,000 Yuan for parole. In November 2003, perpetrators from the "610 Office" went to Mu Qigui's home, trying to arrest him. Mu Qigui was forced to leave home. Li Guilin was arrested and savagely beaten by police. He suffered from severe pain, collapsed and was rushed to Suining City's Central Hospital for emergency care. After a one-week stay in the hospital he was forced to go into exile to avoid further persecution.

5. In the evening of December 7, 2004, a drunken guard, Wang Yanjie, male, from the Fushun Labor Camp, beat Dafa practitioner Mr. Zhang Donghui. After the beating, Dafa practitioner Mr. Zhang Donghui showed symptoms of a concussion and often experienced light-headedness and vomiting.

Dafa practitioner Mr. Zhang Huabo lived in Caopen Village, Dasiping Town, Xinbin County, Fushun City. He had the profession of a forester and was recognized with an award as "Best Forest Developer" by the city. Perpetrators from the government and the police department often harassed him because he practiced Falun Gong. He went to Beijing to appeal for Dafa and was arrested and detained for two months. The Dasiping Town government extorted 10,000-Yuan "guarantee money" from him. One year later, when Zhang Huabo was released, he went to the town government and asked for his money back, but the government refused to give it to him. Mr. Zhang Huabo went to Beijing to appeal his case but was sentenced to three years of forced labor. He is currently being detained at the Fushun City Forced Labor Camp, and acres of forest are left uncared for.

6. My name is Du Mingliang. I am a 53-year-old woman. On December 25, 1999, I went to Beijing to appeal and was held under criminal detention four times. I was later transferred to the Judong Female Forced Labor Camp in Jiangsu Province, where I was held for two-and-a-half years followed by an extension of three more months. At the labor camp I was forced to stand for a long period of time and was not allowed to sleep. My right leg was injured from being kicked while in detention, but I resisted the inhuman tortures with righteous thoughts. Under Master's protection, I walked out of the labor camp on September 15, 2003.

7. Dafa practitioner Ms. Lou Yahong, an employee of Xuchang City's Heat And Power Plant in Henan Province was persecuted only because she spoke the truth and persisted in her belief of Truth, Compassion and Tolerance. The perpetrators repeatedly ransacked her home, detained her and sent her to labor camps. In November 2001, she climbed on the Tiananmen Tower to validate Dafa. After she was arrested, she refused to give her name and address, and was held at a detention center in Beijing. She went on a hunger strike and was brutally tortured. With righteous faith in Dafa and feeling Master's benevolent protection, she left the labor camp two weeks later. In order to avoid further persecution, she was forced to leave home and live in exile.

8. Dafa practitioner Ms. Yu Shuang is a surgeon at the Longfeng Autonomous Power Plant Employee Hospital. The hospital is affiliated with the Daqing Petroleum Administration Bureau. Dr. Yu was abducted and sent to Hongweixing Brainwashing Class in Daqing City. Because she refused to give up her belief, she was sent to the Longfeng District Detention Center, then was sentenced to three years of forced labor and was sent to Daqing City Labor Camp. During the detention, she was subjected to inhuman tortures such as the "immobilization chair" (an instrument of torture, also called an "iron chair," see illustration at http://www.clearwisdom.net/emh/articles/2002/1/9/17577.html), with which she was tortured for seven days and seven nights. Her term was extended by three months, and she was tortured with "Tiger Bench" for four or five days. [also one of the torture methods used on practitioners. Practitioners' knees are tightly tied on a "Tiger Bench" [a small metal bench]. Usually some hard objects are inserted underneath the practitioner's lower legs or ankles to exacerbate the pain] Her eleventh rib was fractured and her eyeglasses were smashed from the beating she received. The broken glass cut her eyelids and caused profuse bleeding. Her whole face was swollen and bruised, and she suffered internal injuries. On January 6, 2004, Yu Shuang was sent to the Suihua City Labor Camp.

9. On February 3, 2002, Feng Bolin and Hou Wenge, the male deputy heads of Jinjia Town's Police Department in Changtu County, Tieling City, Liaoning Province chased Dafa practitioners who were clarifying the truth. Female practitioner Di Shuzhen fell. The police beat her with metal and wooden rods until she lost consciousness. Then the police left the scene. Di Shuzhen's family rushed her to No. 1 People's Hospital in Changtu County. An X-ray film revealed Di Shuzhen suffered from four broken ribs. One of them punctured her lung, causing it to collapse and fill with blood. A large quantity of bloody fluid had to be drawn from Di Shuzhen's lung during the surgery. Because of the vicious beating, Di Shuzhen still experiences frequent headaches, dizzy spells, and sometimes collapses to the ground and loses consciousness.

10. On October 1, 1999, Dafa practitioner Ms. Tian Yanpu from Handan City went to Beijing to appeal, and she was arrested and tortured. She was detained for one month and fired by her work unit. On September 4, 2001, the police hid near her home and tried to abduct her, but she escaped. The police threatened her husband to turn his wife in, or they would have him fired from his job and cut off his salary. They also extorted a 10,000 Yuan "fine" from Ms. Tian Yanpu's family. Oftentimes there are plainclothes police posted around her residential area. They had harassed her at home many times. Under tremendous psychological pressure, Tian Yanpu's husband filed for divorce. After living under threats and coercion, Tian Yanpu's husband fell ill with a stroke, high blood pressure and severe neurasthenia.

[Tianjin City] Falun Gong Practitioner Yuan Hong Dies as a Result of Persecution

Mr. Yuan Hong was a 52-year-old Falun Gong practitioner who had lived in the Hedong District, Tianjin City. He worked at Heping District's Sanitation Clinic. After enforcers from the Hedong Police Department illegally put him into a forced labor camp for one year and two months, they extended his detention by two months because he resisted the police's coercion and refused to write a "guarantee statement."

Mr. Yuan Hong persisted in Dafa practice after his release and the police often went to his home to harass him. About half a year ago the police again went to his home to harass him. He was the only person at home at the time. Later, his family members who worked at a cotton-spinning factory received a police notice saying Yuan Hong had jumped from the sixth floor of a building and died. The details are under investigation.

[Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Practitioner Gao Manli Illegally Imprisoned; Practitioners Xu Jing Abducted by Police

Ms. Gao Manli is a 40-year-old practitioner who works in Shenyang City's Chemical Company. In around April 2003, someone reported her to police when she was reading a Dafa book on a train from Heilongjiang Province to Dalian City, which resulted in her arrest. She is a practitioner on the unlawfully circulated "wanted list." In November 2003, officials at the Liaohua Court illegally sentenced her to eight years imprisonment.

During the evening on November 26, 2003, a policeman followed practitioner Ms. Xu Jing who lived in the Tiexi District/Shenyang City when she was distributing truth-clarifying flyers. Policemen from Tiexi District's Qixian Police Precinct later ransacked Xu Jing's home. Her current situation is unknown.

[Jiaozuo City, Henan Province] Practitioner Ma Lucheng Stages a Hunger Strike to Protest the Persecution in a Brainwashing Class

In the evening of November 28, Li Xiaoxing, head of Enchun Township's Political and Judicatory Committee led some people and abducted Dafa practitioner Mr. Ma Lucheng from Sulin Village, Encun Township, Shanyang District, Jiaozuo City, Henan Province and took him to a brainwashing class. Several days ago, 30 Dafa practitioners detained at Dalian City's Wafangdian Prison started their collective hunger strike to protest the illegal persecution.

Mr. Gao Wei, pseudonym Li Jun, is from Dengta Distrct/Liaoyang City. After several days' torment, his internal organs were injured so severely that he became ill and had to remain in bed all day. His family requested to bail him out for hospitalization, but the policemen rejected their plea. He was distributing truth-clarifying discs. Policeman Ye Shufeng from Gongshu District's Police Precinct in Hangzhou City put him into detention for a month and then sentenced him to forced labor.

Practitioner Zhou Linfa's wife did not have the right mindset and revealed information about another practitioner. She told the police about Dafa practitioner Wu Liren who had been detained in Hangzhou City's Detention Center for six months. At 9:00 a.m. on December 22, Wu Liren was put on a trial at the Xihu District Court.

Shanghai City's Jing'an Police Department (police department and national security department) arrested Dafa practitioner Mr. Ling Xiang from Guangzhou City and detained him at Jing'an Detention Center for four months. The police prevented his contacts with his family members and lawyer, and postponed his appeal for the two-year labor camp sentence against him. Ling Xiang's father rushed to Shanghai to see him, but his request was rejected, leading to his tremendous mental pressure. Dafa practitioner Ms. Zhou Dongmei from Nanchang City is 53 years old. On October 20, 2003, policemen from the Nanzhan Police Precinct/Xihu Police Department abducted Zhou Dongmei. She is now held at the Xinjia'an Women's Prison.

Dafa practitioner Ms. Hu Shuiying from Nanchang City is 52 years old. The enforcers hold brainwashing sessions at the Meile Hotel. They abducted from three to ten Dafa practitioners into every session, which lasted seven to ten days. The practitioner's work unit is forced to pay the costs for food and lodging. In his position of deputy director of Yi County's Police Department, Mu Guiliang is in charge of persecuting Falun Gong. He openly extorted money from Dafa practitioners and has personally plotted and frequently instructed others to persecute Dafa practitioners on a large scale. Later, Mu Guiliang conspired with Yang Baoming, chief of the Legal System Section, and Li Chunyu, chief of the Political and Security Section and decided to fine each practitioner from 3,000 Yuan to 30,000 Yuan. The money they extorted was divided into three portions - one for the Legal System Section, one for the Police Precinct and the other for the Political and Security Section. They harassed those practitioners who refused to comply with the extortion attempt.

Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Wang Hong is from Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province. She works at Nuerhe Textile Factory. Ms. Wang went to Beijing to validate Dafa on
January 8, 2001 and was arrested. She was sent to Masanjia Forced Labor Camp for a term of 3 years. Wang remains firm in her belief in Falun Dafa. She is still being held in the labor camp, although her 3-year term has already passed.

Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Wang Wenjuan is from Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province. Ms. Wang was abducted and sent to Masanjia Forced Labor Camp for a term of 3 years. Her term will be completed on January 18, 2004. Ms. Wang also remains firm in her belief.

Mr. Huang Kui is a graduate student at the School of Delicate Instruments and Mechanical Devices at Tsinghua University (He studies in the same department as Wang Weiyu, another Dafa practitioner.). In mid-December 2000, Huang, 4 male practitioners, and 1 female practitioner were arrested in Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province. The female practitioner was sentenced to 3 and half years in jail and the five male practitioners were each sentenced to 5 years in jail. They are currently detained in Sihui City, Guangdong Province, where they are forced to do hard physical labor every day.

Ms. Li Aihua is an English Teacher at Huanbei Petroleum Technical Institute. Because she firmly cultivates Dafa, she was arrested and will soon be sentenced to jail.

Ms. Guo Yongzhen works at a company in Huanbei Oil Field. She is being detained in Renqiu Detention Center (Hebei Province), where the staff is trying to force her to give up her beliefs.

Ms. Qin Sue works at Huanbei Oil Field. She is currently under detention at an unknown location.

Mr. Li Chunguang is a lecturer and an Associate Professor at Beijing's Central Ethnic Institute. He was detained and inhumanely tortured in Tuanhe Forced Labor Camp in Beijing.

Mr. Zhao Xianming has a Master's Degree from a university in Canada. He was detained in Tuanhe Forced Labor Camp in Beijing, where he was badly tortured.

On January 9, 2004, the police destroyed several sites in Dongli District, Harbin City that produce truth-clarifying materials. Recently, over 10 practitioners were sent to Yantai Brainwashing Center. The local "610 Office" [an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party, and all other political and judiciary systems] arrested a number of practitioners and tried to extort 2,000 yuan from each of them.

I was detained for firmly cultivating Dafa. One morning, I, and other practitioners were taken to the Dispatching Office of the Forced Labor Re-education Bureau in Beijing, where fully armed police officers lined up in formation to "welcome" us. First, we were told the "rules:" all inmates must keep their head down at all times, while walking, standing, sitting, or squatting. Whenever one raises his head a little, the police immediately hit and curse that person. As a result of this "rule," many inmates have never seen the guard's faces. A strip-check comes next. I could hear frequent sounds of beating, cursing, and the buzzing of electric batons. I also heard the sudden, horrible cries of the practitioners being shocked by electric batons. An atmosphere of terror surrounded everyone. While all inmates stood in formation, the persecutors loudly asked Dafa practitioners to step forward. Once a practitioner stepped forward, five or six guards closed in on the practitioner and forced him to a stool on the side, where there were some papers and a pen. "Write what we tell you to!" The guards shouted, trying to force the practitioner to write a "guarantee letter" against Dafa. When a practitioner refused, he was beaten and shocked with electric clubs. After that, if the practitioner still refused to cooperate with them, the persecutors forced him to stand outside in the freezing cold (between - 10^o C and - 20^o C, or around 0 degrees Fahrenheit) from morning until midnight. As a result, many practitioners' extremities were injured by frostbite.

The Dispatch Office forces the practitioners to produce disposable chopsticks from early morning until 9 at night. The persecutors do not dare to let people outside the labor camp know this, as they know such activities violate the international rules of the WTO (World Trade Organization). Moreover, the chopsticks are not hygienic at all: between 10 and 20 people work in a small room, and the chopsticks are piled on the filthy floor, where they are sometimes walked on before being packaged. All the inmates do is put the chopsticks into envelopes and pack them into paper bags printed with "hygienic chopsticks" and permits from the Hygienic Guard Bureau. The inmate-workers do not disinfect their hands, even though some of them have skin diseases. Some inmates who work on the chopsticks are drug addicts. There are even inmates who rub the chopsticks on their feet on purpose. When Dafa practitioners reported the situation to the Bureau of Forced Labor Through Re-education, their warnings were ignored and told that they were "disturbing order."

On January 14, 2004, Minghui reported that 8 practitioners were on a hunger strike in Dalian Prison. After the prison received some phone calls from Dafa practitioners overseas, practitioners were allowed to see their visitors, and the hunger strike ended. The phone calls from our fellow practitioners overseas have had a great effect.

(Clearwisdom.net) A "solemn declaration" is a person's public statement declaring to the world that whatever he or she has done or said under duress or deception that was against Falun Dafa is null and void. Most of these statements have come from Falun Dafa practitioners in China who wished to express regret that, in the face of physical torture and brainwashing, they had signed documents renouncing Dafa and guaranteeing not to practice again. Also, as more and more people in China learn the truth about how they have been deceived and lied to by the Jiang regime, many non-practitioners are also submitting "solemn declarations."

I began practicing Falun Gong in 1997 and during my several years of cultivation I have benefited tremendously, both physically and mentally. After July 20, 1999, when the government began persecuting Falun Gong, I went to Beijing to speak some just words for Falun Gong. Because of this I was unlawfully detained five times. In August 2000 I was sentenced to one and a half years of forced labor. During the detention at the forced labor camp I was treated like a slave and was forced to work 22 hours a day. The perpetrators repeatedly instilled Dafa-slandering words in my head. Additionally, because I didn't study the Fa well before, I became momentarily perplexed. I feared death and wanted to live a comfortable life, so I wrote a "repentance statement" [renouncing Falun Gong] for which I will never be able to forgive myself for the rest of my life.

What is worse is that I sank deeper and deeper in the swamp and tried to persuade other determined practitioners to renounce Falun Gong. My mind was twisted. I let Jiang's group use me. I did things I never should have done, and I interfered with Master's Fa-rectification and with saving people. Although I didn't intentionally do these bad things, the fact is I committed serious crimes against benevolent Master and fellow practitioners. Before this, I was walking the path to return to my true, original self, the most righteous path. Now I have stepped off the path and onto the edge of the cliff.

Master's boundless benevolence allowed me to read his new teachings after I was released from the labor camp. By studying the Fa, I regained a clear mind and realized I had made a complete mistake. I regret it terribly. Every time I remember Teacher's benevolent and arduous salvation, tears of shame stream down my face. I hereby solemnly announce that all the "repentance statements and reports" I wrote during my stay at the forced labor camp that defame Dafa were written under coercion, and therefore all of them are void. At the same time, I apologize to fellow practitioners whom I have misled. I thank Teacher for giving me the opportunity to realize my mistake and to make up for it. From now on I will return to Falun Dafa practice, keep up with the progress of Fa-rectification, expose the evil, clarify the truth and make up for the losses I have caused Dafa.

During the illegal detention I held a hunger strike, clarified the truth to inmates and recited Falun Dafa teachings and did Dafa exercises every day. Later I was sent to a brainwashing class. I faced fanatical persecution and as I didn't want my family to suffer with me, I made compromises to the evildoers against my true will. I wrote the "three statements," which is something a Dafa practitioner should never do [practitioners are coerced under brainwashing and torture to write these as proof that they have given up their belief. Created by the "610 Office," the three statements consist of a letter of repentance, a guarantee to never again practice Falun Gong, and a list of names and addresses of all family members, friends and acquaintances who are practitioners]. I let down benevolent Master, who has suffered so much in order to save me. I regret it terribly. I hereby announce that everything I said and did in the brainwashing class is void. I will completely negate the old forces' arrangements and dive back into the current of Fa-rectification. I will do well in the three things Dafa practitioners are supposed to do [study the Fa, explain the facts and send righteous thoughts] to make up for the losses I caused Dafa, and compensate for the bad influence I exerted.
