many civilians witnessed policemen violently beat and drag off a Falun
Gong practitioner. People at the Square were all talking about the incident and
many said: "We personally saw the brutality of police against Falun Gong today."

In the morning of October 1, we left home very early with our baby, heading
for Tiananmen Square. It was raining heavily the day before, and it was still
very windy, though the rain stopped. Nevertheless, there were many people at the
Square, and of course public security police, armed police and plainclothes police
were everywhere. There were 5 or 6 police officers at each intersection,
checking passersby and searching the bags of those tourists whom police thought were
"questionable" (meaning, who they suspected may be Falun Gong practitioners).
We arrived at Tiananmen Square safely and found a space at the stairs under a
lamp post to sit down. All members of my family are practitioners, and we came
here today to send righteous thoughts to clear up evil factors in other
dimensions to help people more easily come to learn the truth of
Falun Dafa and thus obtain a bright future. My baby behaved really well today
and was very quiet when we were sending righteous thoughts. We kept sending
righteous thoughts until noon. When we finished sending righteous at around
12:10pm, we suddenly saw a team of more than 20 armed policemen running into the
huge crowd. At the moment I realized that it must have been some practitioners
who had just stepped forward to publicly appeal for Falun Dafa on the square.
I hurried to the site and saw that a practitioner was already beaten to the
ground by police. A policeman still had the practitioner's banner wrapped
around his left hand. Other armed police drove onlookers far away from the
site. However, a vast number of civilians witnessed how police brutally attacked
the practitioner. Many people in the crowd started to take photos, but several
of them had their film confiscated by police. Police even confiscated some
people's unused cameras packed in their bags, and a few tourists who
photographed the scene were taken away. Policemen near to the site also searched
for people that carried a camera.
Many people at Tiananmen Square were talking about the incident. They said:
"We personally saw the brutality of police against Falun Gong today." Since
Jiang regime launched the brutal persecution against Falun Dafa 5 years ago,
practitioners have been tirelessly clarifying the truth about Falun Gong, exposing
the lies spread by mainland media and telling people about the brutal
persecution. Though many people have learned the truth, the brutality of police
on Tiananmen Square on this, China's "National Day" still shocked them, as they saw that the
practitioner didn't do anything wrong but only tried to say "Falun Dafa is
Good."
Let us all jointly call for an end to the brutality against innocent
practitioners!
(Clearwisdom.net) Recently the following phenomenon has occurred in Beijing and Tianjin: a few practitioners have been very active in collecting funds, and claiming or believing that they are providing funding for disciples outside of China to clarify the truth. This is an act that severely undermines the Fa--Dafa cultivation strictly forbids collecting funds. In the past five years, all of the Dafa disciples' activities around the world to clarify the truth and promote Dafa were paid for by the Dafa disciples giving what they can under difficult conditions, within the limits of their individual abilities. It has never been permitted to collect funds, and this act that severely violates the principles of cultivation will not be allowed in the future, either. At the present time, whoever does this is intentionally undermining the Fa. This matter's occurrence is undoubtedly being directed by special agents behind the scenes. It is hoped that all Dafa disciples, especially the Dafa disciples in Mainland China, will rationally, clearheadedly, and in accordance with Master's requirements, let go of human attachments and diligently clarify the truth to the world's people. In particular, let's not miss the chance with the people around us, and do not continue to allow fake scriptures, fund-collection, and various other unrighteous things arising out of human attachments to interfere with us and damage the environment for us to clarify the truth of the persecution.
Collecting funds among Dafa disciples under any pretext is an act of undermining the Fa, and all genuinely cultivating disciples should have a clear understanding of this issue. If someone is collecting funds in the name of Dafa disciples, everyone has the responsibility to come forward to clarify the truth and stop this act of sabotage.

(Clearwisdom.net) During the past five or six years, Falun Gong has become more and more popular in Taiwan. In Tainan City, which has a population of about 800,000, there are 24 Falun Gong practice sites.
The Mayor of Tainan City, Tain-Tsair Hsu, praised Falun Gong practitioners for their peaceful and rational efforts to rescue the persecuted fellow practitioners in Mainland China. During the Sports Festival held on September 25, 2004, the Tainan City Sports Committee specially invited Falun Gong practitioners to perform a one thousand-person exercise demonstration at the opening ceremony. Falun Gong had two booths at the sports festival, one for dynamic exhibition, and one for static exhibition. The practitioners wanted more people to know about Falun Gong.

The sports festival started off with the one thousand-person Falun Gong demonstration. During the demonstration, the team leader introduced Falun Gong and the illegal persecution in China, and called on spectators to care about this group of kind people. The audience gave him warm applause.
At the dynamic exhibition booth, students from the Falun Dafa Club of National Cheng Kung University performed a drama about Falun Dafa, which was first introduced to the public in China. The drama showed how, fueled by Jiang's envy, policemen are pushed by higher authorities to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. It also showed how Falun Gong practitioners persist in their beliefs in "Truthfulness Compassion Tolerance" in the face of the evil persecution.
Falun Gong had more performances that any other group during the event, and in addition to the one thousand-person demonstration, there was a waist drum team, and dances by Minghui School students. There were one hundred people playing the waist drums. The momentum was enormous, and it left a deep impression on spectators.
In the afternoon, Falun Gong practitioners continued to promote Dafa around the stadium. The "Anti-torture Exhibition" was set up along the street, and many residents were shocked by seeing the cruel tortures currently taking place in China.
(Clearwisdom.net) On the morning of September 19, 2004, a Central America Independence Day parade was held in Los Angeles. Over 200 groups participated in this parade, including major governmental officials in the Los Angeles area, and governmental representative organizations from Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama. Along the 3 mile long route was a crowd of Los Angeles residents from Central America estimated at more than 100,000.
Practitioners from Los Angeles and San Diego participated in this parade and were welcomed. The Spanish speaking audience who were generally not reached in our truth-clarification efforts had a good chance to get to know and understand the grace of Dafa. During the parade, some greeted the practitioners with Heshi. Reporters from quite a few TV stations took footage of practitioners' float and waist drum performance.

(Clearwisdom.net) On September 26, 2004, Falun Gong practitioners of Kao Hsiung organized their first "Anti-Torture Exhibit" in the city's Culture Center. The exhibition used practitioner-actors to expose the cruel tortures in the Jiang faction's persecution of Falun Gong and appealed to end the persecution immediately.

It was a Sunday, and a lot of people came to the Culture Center. Many people watched the anti-torture exhibition and were very shocked to see how Chinese Falun Gong practitioners were tortured for their beliefs. Some had heard about Falun Gong but didn't quite understand the facts of the persecution. After the practitioners talked to them, they understood that Jiang launched the persecution of Falun Gong out of his personal jealousy, so they willingly signed their names to support the petition to end the persecution.

Some people couldn't believe that such cruel torture can happen in 21st China, and asked "Is this real?" But the fact is, the Falun Gong practitioners only want to be good persons according to the principles of "Truthfulness Compassion Tolerance" and practice the exercises to improve health but they have suffered over 100 different kinds of torture, and over 1000 practitioners have died from torture. Among those killed, many are women and elderly people. What the practitioners can demonstrate is only a small portion of the various tortures Chinese police are using. A young lady cried at seeing the scenes; more people were angry and condemned Jiang's atrocities.

There were exercise demonstrations at the Anti-Torture exhibition, and many people asked for information and wanted to learn the exercises. Drivers passing by were also curious and stopped to ask for CDs. The practitioners didn't miss any opportunity and distributed the flyers to passing cars.
The practitioners participating in the Anti-Torture exhibition felt this was a sacred matter to let more people understand the tortures Chinese Falun Dafa practitioners have experienced.
Before the event ended at 5 pm, the crowd passing by the exhibit never stopped. Some people asked for more flyers for their relatives and friends. Some said to practitioners that the exhibition was great.

First I would like to share with you the background regarding why we want to start legal proceedings against the former head of state in China, Jiang Zemin, and his cohorts for persecuting Falun Gong.
Five years of persecution in China has left its victims devastated; they merely want to follow their spiritual beliefs in peace.
Falun Gong is a popular method for physical and mental well being with its roots in Chinese culture. In the late 1990's, when over 70 million people in China had taken the practice to their hearts, China's head of state at the time, Jiang Zemin, felt his position threatened by the number of people practicing and banned the practice.
He then ordered the establishment of a Gestapo-like organization, the "610 Office", which uses violence and terror to strike at innocent practitioners, and their families, colleagues and friends. Employers had to fire Falun Gong practitioners; practitioners' children had to quit school; the elderly lost their pensions; many people had to leave their ransacked homes.
The official number of practitioners killed while in custody has reached 1047, although the real number is estimated to be much higher but not yet reported due to the tight information blockade. In China there exists a comprehensive system of labour camps that serves as a tool for political repression and "reeducation". These labour camps holds at least 100 000 Falun Gong practitioners. And just like what took place in the former Soviet Union, mental hospitals are used to impose medical treatment on dissidents.
Falun Gong practitioners in China have no way to make their voice heard. By bringing Jiang Zemin to court in Sweden, a democratic country with a legal system, we hope to make their voices heard. We are also not alone in doing this: Similar legal actions are already taking place in Germany, France, Finland, Belgium, USA, Australia, England, South Africa and others.
So many people have died, so many lives have been ruined, so much suffering and injustice has been suffered! The perpetrators can never repay what they have done, but we want them to at least know what they did was wrong.

(Clearwisdom.net) The annual International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival was held from the 17th to the 20th of September 2004, at the biggest cinema in Glasgow, Scotland. Seventy films about human rights problems from different countries and nations participated in this festival. Among them, a film revealing the truth of the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China by Jiang's regime was also shown. It left a profound impression on the audience.
During the film festival, Falun Gong practitioners had an information stall outside the cinema where they displayed a poster about Falun Gong, distributed leaflets and collected petition signatures. Many people came to sign the petition after reading the poster and learning more about the suppression of Falun Gong practitioners' human rights in China. By doing so, they showed their support to Falun Gong practitioners.
The showing of the film should have started at 6pm on Saturday the 18th. But after the audience sat down, the staff found out that the cinema's DVD player did not work, so they went to change it. During the wait, two practitioners introduced Falun Gong and the truth about the persecution to the audience. Everyone listened very carefully and asked questions.
After they finished watching the film, many people asked for more information about Falun Gong. There were also some people who stayed behind and talked for a long time with the practitioners. A westerner said the film about Falun Gong that he watched today gave him the most profound impression and was really shocking.
A Chinese gentleman, who specifically came to watch the film about Falun Gong, said that the reason he made this special trip was that he really want to see this film which was made by those who have first-hand experience of what is happening in China. When he talked about his feelings after watching the films, he said, "It is very moving to see that so many overseas countries and human rights organizations care about the human rights problems in China. It was quite shocking as well." He hoped this persecution could end soon.

(Clearwidom.net) A small group of practitioners from Berlin decided to organize a weekly information day in one of Berlin's districts or suburbs to let the people there know more about Falun Gong and raise awareness of the brutal persecution against practitioners of the spiritual movement in China.
Many passersby showed great interest and were happy to stand and chat with us. An unemployed person told one of the practitioners that although he didn't have much money, he wanted to find a way to help stop the persecution. First, I told him that we do not collect money or ask for donations, but that it would be appreciated if he signed our petition in support of bringing the instigator of the persecution against Falun Gong, Jiang Zemin, to justice in a court of law. He signed and was visibly glad that he could help in our efforts to stop the persecution.
We noticed an elderly woman with a hearing disability who looked at the display about the victims who died in the persecution. She was visibly moved by the tragic stories and found the pictures depicting the torture methods particularly shocking. She told us, while continuously shaking her head in despair, how stunned she was by what she just saw.
She then looked at me seriously and asked about Falun Gong, while pointing at the words "Falun Gong." I thought hard as to how I could best explain Falun Gong to her. Then, I had a wonderful thought. I pointed at a picture, depicting children in peaceful meditation. As she kept looking at me with this questioning look, I gave her a newspaper and showed her "What is Falun Gong?" With a pleasing smile she pressed the paper to her heart and showed her gratitude.
Shortly after, another practitioner spoke with a Christian lady. First she said that she had little time, but after noticing our displays, she took a lot of time to listen to us explain about the persecution. She asked many questions of the practitioners and then asked after a while, "I feel very comfortable around you. I stayed here for such a long time, although I really did not have the time." This lady said her farewells with a radiant smile, thanked us and wished us lots of luck and success.
During the day we were surprised by the large number of children who stopped to learn the exercises. One practitioner taught a small boy the first four exercises. After learning the exercises the boy said that he enjoyed learning them. Besides, he was surprised to find that the pain he had suffered in his shoulder before doing the exercises had disappeared.
To surprise the passersby we handed out paper lotus flowers we had been making all day long. Many of the children were very keen on the lotus flowers and wanted to learn how to make them. A little girl said, "I believe we can't find these kinds of flowers here. I have not seen them. My mother will be very interested where I learned to make such lovely flowers."
The busy street seemed to empty slowly and we saw less and less shoppers and passersby. Finally the last passersby left for their homes. We suddenly realised how quickly this day had passed.

(Clearwisdom.net) 55-year-old practitioner Ms. Yang Meizhen is from Suining County, Xuzhou City of Jiangsu Province. She suffered from persecution by police numerous times because she would not give up Falun Gong. In October 2002, she was sentenced for 4 years of "re-education through forced labor" and tortured to the brink of death. On July 22, 2004, she died from torture.
Since July 20, 1999 when Jiang's regime started the persecution of Falun Gong, Ms. Yang Meizhen and her husband went to many villages and counties to distribute flyers and materials to tell the facts of Falun Gong and to expose Jiang's crime of persecuting Falun Gong practitioners. In December 2000, Yang Meizhen went to Beijing to appeal to the government to stop persecuting Falun Gong. For that, she was detained in the Suining County Detention Center and subjected to brutal beatings and various tortures. In order to get information about other practitioners, the police cuffed her hands and feet together for more than half a month. The police refused to open the cuffs even when she ate, slept or needed to use toilet. Moreover, when the police saw her walking or moving slowly, they would use truncheons to forcefully beat her.
In October 2002, Yang Meizhen was sentenced for 4 years of "re-education through forced labor" and imprisoned at Sihong forced Labor Camp. In the labor camp, the police tried in vain to force her to curse Falun Dafa and its founder. Because she would not give up Falun Gong, Yang Meizhen was subjected to various torture methods, beatings and she was forced to perform heavy labor. The jail guards also deprived her of sleep and forced her to do hard labor.
In June 2003, Yang Meizhen's family brought her home while she was at the edge of death. On July 22, 2004, she died.

(Clearwisdom.net) Last year, when Falun Gong practitioner Duan Shiqiong from Chongqing City validated the Fa in Chengdu City, she was arrested and taken to the Chengdu Police Station. On September 16, 2003, she was killed in a Chengdu City detention center.
When her husband was asked by the police to identify her body, he found that the body of his deceased wife was replaced with the body of an unknown woman in an attempt to cover up the fact that she was murdered.
It has been one year since Falun Gong practitioner Duan Shiqiong was killed, yet her body still has not been found. The local authorities and police continue to persecute and create difficulties for her husband, and he cannot find justice. Shiqiong has left behind a 5-year old son who lives with her father.
(Clearwisdom.net) Since July 20, 1999, when Jiang Zemin started the barbaric suppression and persecution of Falun Gong and its practitioners and ordered that "The death of Falun Gong practitioners from beatings shall be counted as suicides," the police and other officials have aggressively persecuted Falun Dafa practitioners with extremely cruel, brutal, and vicious means and have caused countless practitioners to become disabled or even to lose their lives.
Zhao Mingxiang, from East Zhaojiaguan Village in Renzhao Town, Pingdu City, is one of the practitioners who was tortured to death. Mr. Zhao Mingxiang was 46 years old. The people of East Zhaojiaguan Village all knew he was a good person. Because of his belief in Falun Gong, Qingdao City Public Security Bureau issued a warrant for his arrest. In order to avoid arrest he had been homeless for four years. On December 30, 2003, he died next to a haystack in Wage Village, Jimo City. According to the villagers who saw his body, Zhao Mingxiang was wearing only one shoe and had no belt. (It is a police station rule to remove a detainee's belt). He was still breathing when he was found but died between 9 and 10 a.m.
On May 25, 2004, Zhao's family heard the news and went to the criminal division in Jimo City to claim the body. The public security officer said he had died from cold and hunger. Zhao's family requested his ashes. but the officer said they did not have them. Finally, after many attempts to trace Zhao's remains, his family recovered the ashes from Yingshang Crematory Field in Jimo. He had been cremated on December 30, 2003, the date of his death, even though an unknown body is normally not allowed to be cremated immediately. Fearing that the facts of the persecution would be exposed, the authorities quickly cremated the body to destroy any evidence and did not notify the family members. His family wanted to take the police photo of the deceased to show Zhao's father, who is more than 80 years old, but the police refused the request, saying they needed the photo for their records. From that photo his family could see that Zhao's beard had grown very long, and he was extremely emaciated.
Zhao Mingxiang left home with some Falun Gong materials on December 21, 2003, and there was no news of him until May 25, 2004. Duanbolan Police Station apparently arrested him on the night he left home. During the eight days after his arrest, Zhao suffered all kinds of brutal torture and was almost suffocated to death. Aware that Zhao had no chance of survival, the police threw him under a haystack on a road near Wage Village, in order to avoid taking responsibility. When the villagers discovered him and reported to the security authority, Duanbolan Police Station treated him as an "unknown corpse" instead of using his name.
Duanbolan Police Station also made careful arrangements after Zhao Mingxiang was cremated. They made Yu Fakui of Wage Village make a false statement to Zhao's family. He said he saw Zhao squatting next to the haystack on the morning of December 26 when he went to get hay for his cattle. He said he let Zhao have some water at his home, and that Zhao told him he practiced Falun Gong and also mentioned his family members. According to Yu, on the night of December 29, Zhao came again and asked for water. He left after he got a drink. He said Zhao was wobbly and walked toward the north. Actually, Zhao Mingxiang never spoke to anyone about his real situation since learning he was wanted. What Yu Fakui said was information that came from the computer system of the local police station.
The owner of the shop closest to the scene of Zhao's death also made a false allegation. He said Zhao walked leisurely around the area for quite a few days. He refused the food that he was offered, saying he practiced Falun Gong and was on a hunger strike. It's common knowledge that only illegally detained Falun Gong practitioners conduct hunger strikes to resist the persecution.
Zhao's family found out 'that his registered permanent residence had been cancelled for a long time, indicating that officials were well aware of Zhao's death. Shi Weibing, the chief of the Political Protection Section in Pingdu City Public Security Bureau, told the East Zhao Village cadre that he saw Zhao Mingxiang at Jimo Duanbolan Police Station. Obviously Pingdu City Public Security Bureau and Renzhao Local Police Station were both aware of the cause of Zhao's death.
Zhao Mingxiang's elderly father, who is over 80 years old, was grieving after he heard his son was tortured to death. He did not want to eat and could not sleep well. He was originally healthy but has gradually become emaciated. His son was forced to leave home for four years to avoid illegal arrest, suffering hunger and cold, so the old man was in a constant state of anxiety, looking forward day and night to the time when they could be reunited. Instead, all he got was his son's ashes.
Zhao Mingxiang's two young children still can't believe their father is dead, since they never saw his body, and they still think that one day he will come back again.
(Clearwisdom.net) An inmate in the No. 9 Brigade of Shayang Forced Labor Camp, Hubei Province brutally beat Ms. Zhang Jingqiong, a Falun Dafa practitioner from Honghu. The severe beating caused Ms. Zhang to pass out in the field, apparently due to excessive bleeding from a ruptured ovary.
Ms. Zhang, whose home had been ransacked and whose personal savings had been looted by members of the Honghu National Security Brigade, was illegally sentenced to a forced labor camp for one and a half years on March 3, 2004 by police officer Zuo Yehong.
As soon as Ms. Zhang was taken away, her 12-year-old twin daughters, Weng Mengyun and Weng Menghua, went to appeal to the mayor to let their mother come home with them because she has a serious heart problem (Ms. Zhang had been imprisoned four times between 1999 and 2004 and her health condition deteriorated as a result). But instead of support and understanding, what the two girls received was mockery and insults. They live with their 80-year-old grandmother now and are forced work part-time to cover their living expenses. However, the girls excel in school, especially in writing. They won an award in the National Olympic Competition in 2003, and the next year, they won First Prize in the local competition in Jingzhou City. These children are suffering, waiting every day for their mother to come home.
Six months later, the twins heard that their mother was dying. The police from Shayang Forced Labor Camp lied to the family, saying that Ms. Zhang had a gynecological problem. They said that she had 200-300 CC of extravagated blood in her ovary and that she needed to be operated on, or else she would die.
When Ms. Zhang's sister saw her, she begged the authorities to let her come home so that she could be properly treated. A police officer named Fang said, "No way. If she does not cooperate with us [and renounce Falun Gong], we will proceed with the operation anyway." Another police officer said, "If she does not give up her practice, and does not follow the rules, even though she dies, it is not against the law. This is now the law in China."
These followers of Jiang's faction totally disregard the law and the Constitution of China. In the current climate, then can beat up Zhang Jingqiong like this today, they can kill this mother of two, and then label it as suicide.

(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Wang Juezhen, 47, is a Falun Gong practitioner from Wanwang Village in Donghai Island of Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province. She was abducted and taken to the city's "610 Office" in March 2004 and was later transferred to the Sanshui Forced Labor Camp. Within a few months, after undergoing severe torture and persecution, she was left with a swollen body, and suffering from mental collapse.
In 1999, Wang Juezhen was fortunate enough to read the book Zhuan Falun, which enabled her to learn the teachings of Falun Gong. She was touched by the profoundness of "Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance." Later, after she started to truly practice Falun Dafa, she benefited both mentally and physically.
At 5:00 a.m. on March 13, 2004, a few thugs from the Donghai Island "610 Office" climbed over the courtyard wall where she lives, and proceeded to break into her house. They then kidnapped her and took her to a brainwashing session that was being held at the Chikan City "610 Office," where she was subjected to various forms of persecution. They tried to force her to stop practicing Falun Gong and to criticize the founder of Falun Gong, but Wang Juezhen refused to co-operate against such unlawful actions and was thus subjected to three months of excruciating mental and physical torture.
On June 7, 2004, Wang Juezhen was transferred to the Guangdong Province Sanshui Forced Labor Camp for further persecution. She was tortured to such an extent that her entire body became extremely swollen, and she also suffered from an injury to her head. After such extreme treatment she became mentally unstable and was unable to look after herself. The police ordered her husband to go to Sanshui Forced Labor Camp to look after his wife. On August 13, Wang Juezhen's situation deteriorated further, and because of her severe state, the labor camp allowed her family to take her home for care. Wang Juezhen's mental state has now seriously deteriorated. She has lost her memory and can no longer function as an ordinary person.
Before been subjected to the severe persecution, Wang Juezhen and her husband were a wealthy couple, earning their money through hard work. Her husband worked outside the home, while she ploughed the fields and grew vegetables at home. They had already built their own house, and their two children were studying at primary school. They enjoyed a harmonious family life, something everyone should have the right to enjoy. Within a mere two months, was traumatized to the point of suffering mental collapse by the authorities who followed Jiang's persecution policies. The family has now been torn apart. The fields have been left unattended, her children cannot go to school, and her husband cannot go to work. It is truly sad that their family situation has been forced to endure such a dramatic downfall.
The persecution instigated by Jiang and his faction against those who practice Falun Gong will not be permitted by the heavens!

(Clearwisdom.net) I am Zhang Chunyu, a resident of Vancouver. I kindly ask for all to hear my urgent appeal that I hereby send out to help rescue both my mother and sister!
My sixty year-old mother is called Yang Huizhen, and my older sister, Zhang Chungang is aged thirty-two. Both are residents of Dandong City of Liaoning Province in China.
At about 7 p.m. on May 24, 2004, more than ten police officers led by Yu Deqing and Cao Yujia from the Political and Judiciary Section of the Public Security Department of Dandong City, broke into my mother's house, abducted her and ransacked her home. My mother did not yield to the violent action and along the way, she shouted loudly "Falun Dafa hao!" (Falun Dafa is good!). At around ten o'clock that night, the same police officers also broke into my elder sister's house and abducted her as well. My bed-ridden father was left in the house by himself during this time. Although my sister was released on bail, my mother is still been detained at the Baifang Detention Center in Dandong City. My father and my sister were denied their legal right to visit my mother.

My mother is a doctor. She retired, and in 1994 established a private clinic. After she commenced practicing Falun Gong in 1997, her spirit and health improved tremendously. After she had practiced Falun Gong for just a few months she recovered from her stubborn illnesses of arthritis, weak kidneys and heart disease among others. Since she started to practice she strictly conformed to the principles of "Zhen, Shan and Ren" (Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance) in every way. She treated her patients in a sincere manner, and was very considerate and astute in finding the cheapest yet most effective treatment. Many of the patients treated her as one of the family. Over the past ten years, she became the first choice or the sole doctor of many patients. She always found ways and means to reduce the cost for her patients. Over those ten years, there were countless patients that received free treatment. Indeed, it is very difficult to know just how many.
Since July of 1999 when the persecution of Falun Gong began, my mother was illegally detained on three occasions. The Public Security Department conspired to send her to brainwashing sessions, but she resisted all such attempts. On the 30th of November 1999, simply for practicing the Falun Gong exercises in the open, my mother was arrested by police officers from the Zhenxing District Branch Office of the Public Security Department, Dandong City, and detained at the Dandong City Detention Center for a month. On February 22, 2000, my mother was watching the flag raising ceremony at Tiananmen Square when plainclothes public security police officers discovered that she was a Falun Gong practitioner. She was arrested and sent back to Dandong City with the addition of having two thousand yuan extorted from her. She was detained for a month and twelve days during which time she was forced to carry out manual labor and was denied the right of visitation by family members. Since May 24, 2004, she was again detained without any lawful reason. She was once again forced to carry out manual labor, and denied the right of visitation by family members.
On these three occasions when my mother was detained, her spirit and health deteriorated immensely. She was forced to close the clinic. Her normal livelihood was greatly affected.
On the occasions my mother was detained, the patients were deprived emergency medical treatment. They said, "We only have faith in Doctor Yang!"
Because my mother was illegally detained, my father became very stressed. The Public Security Department would not release my mother and did not allow us to visit her. Under the great mental pressure, the past illnesses of my father recurred and his lung cancer developed. On August 18, 2004, my father passed away. My mother never had the chance to see my father before he died. After his cremation on August 20, my sister was again abducted. On August 23, she was sent to the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp. Her present whereabouts is unknown.
The suppression of Falun Gong by the former Chinese President and dictator, Jiang Zemin, and his faction, has severely violated the Constitution of the People's Republic of China that bestows upon its citizens the freedom of belief and freedom of speech. Not only are they guilty for the above, but they have also severely violated the Convention of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights of the United Nations. They have brazenly trampled on such basic human rights, and the United Nations Charter of Human Rights.
I appeal to the Government of Canada and the governments of the countries worldwide, the United Nations, every human rights organization and all people to please express your voice of justice to help curb the ongoing tragic, inhuman and unlawful persecution of those who practice Falun Gong and the citizens of China. I strongly believe that if the good people in the world could all stand together righteously, it would lead to the total annihilation of such evil acts.
Please lend a helping hand, and air your voice of justice!

Suspending with Handcuffs
While investigating the case of the infamous television signal interception, police from Qianjin Police Station of Jiamusi City kidnapped a Falun Dafa practitioner, and then tortured him by suspending him by his handcuffs. Several police officers lifted this practitioner up into the air and handcuffed him to a high metal bar that he could not reached while standing. They then let go of him which transferred all of his weight to his handcuffed wrists. The ensuing sensation, according to the practitioner, was a feeling of the tendons in the thumbs being separated from the wrists. The practitioner then tried to extend his legs to support his body and lessen the pain in his arms, but the police simply pulled his legs apart and tied them to a bed frame. After only two or three minutes of having his entire body weight suspended by his arms, the practitioner lost all feeling in both arms. But rather than releasing him, the police tied a heavy iron weight around his neck, and then grabbed him by his rib cage and swung him back and forth to induce more pressure and pain to his arms.
Striking a Metal Bucket Placed over the Head
In May 2002, Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Hou Zhiqiang was abducted and taken to a detention center by police officers disguised as fellow practitioners. During his detention, Hou was interrogated many times, and even tortured. A metal bucket was place over his head, and several police officers struck the bucket with wooden clubs, which caused deafening noises and vibrations. After receiving this torture several times, Mr. Hou often suffered from spasms over his entire body during sleep.
Handcuffed Behind the Back
At Jiamusi Women's Forced Labor Camp, officials attempt to force Falun Dafa practitioners to sign statements denouncing Dafa. Those who refuse to provide signatures are subjected to a torture which is among the most ruthless torture methods used on Falun Dafa practitioners. Once a person is handcuffed in this way, the pain is excruciating, and remaining in this position for a prolonged period often results in permanent damage to the arms. Many practitioners at the labor camp, including Ms. Qiu Yuxia, Ms. Tong Li, Ms. Wang Yingxia, and Ms. Wang Yuhong, etc., have been crippled by this torture, and they can no longer take care of themselves.
Because a practitioner refused to write the statement denouncing Falun Dafa, female police officer Wang Yadong stripped her of her clothes, leaving only her underwear. She then handcuffed the practitioner in this position. And as the practitioner was sweating profusely from the unbearable pain, Wang began striking her head.
In October 2002, Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Kang Aimin refused to sign the statement, so police officers Li Xiujin, Zhou Jiali, Sun Limin, and others cuffed her in this position. They also shoved a picture of Falun Dafa's founder inside of her pants to humiliate her and defame her faith. Ms. Kang was in so much pain that sweat streamed off of her head, but after an hour, she still refused to sign the statement. The police later put her in this position for a second time, which caused her to pass out.

In 2003, I was sent to the Jiamusi Forced Labor Camp. For 25 days, my hands were cuffed behind my back, and I was forced to sit on a brick floor (see figures 1 and 2). During that period of time, I was not allowed to bathe, and at night, the windows were intentionally left open so that my room would become bitterly cold. I was cuffed in a position that forced me to sit with my legs straight. Several practitioners and I developed diarrhea from sitting on the floor all the time, yet we were not allowed to use the restroom. A chamber pot had been placed inside the room, but policeman Li Yongbo refused to let me use the pot. During the first ten days, our hands were handcuffed behind our backs every night, and my hands swelled badly. Later, we were cuffed behind our backs for the first half of the night and cuffed in the front the remainder of the time (figure 3). We were also forced to write certain statements while handcuffed, and when the handcuffs were finally removed, I could no longer stand on my own. Even after several months, I still could not walk without aid.
The jail guards often handcuff practitioners to heating pipes for many consecutive days when they are even the least bit dissatisfied with them.
Tied to a Wooden Board for Extended Periods
By May 2003, Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Su Yanhua had been mistreated to the point that she had difficulty walking, so she began practicing the Falun Gong exercises. After seeing this, police officer Wang Xiurong feverishly beat Su, and handcuffed her to a ring set into the concrete floor. When Ms. Su refused to write a statement guaranteeing not to practice anymore, she and another practitioner were tied to wooden boards. After handcuffing them to bed frames, the police wound ropes, designed for tying military luggage, around the practitioners from chest to waist, and the ropes were wound so tightly that the practitioners could barely breathe. Their legs were also tied to the bed frames. They laid on boards, each about 25 cm. (about 10 in.) in length, and the two boards each practitioner was given were placed 15 cm (6 in.) apart. Ms. Su and the other practitioner were tied up like this for a week. In June 2003, practitioner Ms. Ma Xiaohua was also tied up this way for 28 days.
Slave Labor
The persecution at Jiamusi Forced Labor Camp has disfigured many Falun Dafa practitioners' hands. Even so, they are still being forced to work without medical treatment.

In January 2001, a few hundred Falun Gong practitioners, who went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong, were illegally detained at the Beijing Dongcheng Detention Center, Beijing. Some practitioners who refused to report their names or who went on a hunger strike to resist the persecution were tortured with "Electric Baton with Electric Needles".
The electric needles look similar to acupuncture needles. The policemen insert the needle tips into the victim's acupuncture points or other sensitive areas. The needles are connected to wires that connect to electrodes from an electric baton. The policemen adjust the electric output at will and recklessly torture the victim. At high voltages, the strong current jolts the victim high into the air above the bed causing the entire body to convulse and lose control of urine and bowel movements. Torture victims who had heart problems often died from the electricity going through their body. When criminal inmates in the detention center talk about this torture method, they cannot help trembling and shaking with fear. Practitioners who go on hunger strikes to resist persecution are repeatedly tortured with this method and suffer extremely from the pain.
In 2000, a female practitioner (her name is unknown) was disabled after being tortured with this method. In January 2001, a male practitioner named Li from Yuhong District in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province personally experienced this torture method in Dongcheng Detention Center, Beijing. He refused to report his name and home address at that time, so the police took him to the administrative office. In the office, he saw several practitioners being forced-fed [1]. A few policemen and criminals forcibly held him down on a bed, and inserted three needles into the acupuncture points on his calves. When they started shocking him, he immediately felt all his muscles contract, his heart felt like it was being ripped out, and his body violently shook. Initially, only his legs felt numb, but later he became unconscious. The torture continued for 20 minutes.

[1] Force-feed: a brutal torture used in prison. A tube is forced down into the victim's throat and mush or fluids are poured down it. The tube closes off the airway and suffocates the victims. Because the food or fluid being forced down is not entering the body naturally, it further closes the throat as the important initial swallowing muscles are bypassed and the body cannot send it further down. Many have died while undergoing force-feeding.

(Clearwisdom.net) From the time the persecution of Falun Gong began in China on July 20, 1999, many of my coworkers have come to my office to tell me how they have benefited both in mind and body from cultivating Falun Dafa. They told me that the authorities broadcast lies in their propaganda. I said a few words in support of Falun Gong and told them, "Lend me your Zhuan Falun (1) for me to read." After I said that, I became scared. I wanted to take back my words but I didn't say so out loud. I just told myself, "If I have a karmic relationship, then I will get this book. If I don't have a karmic relationship, so be it."
In May 2000, a fellow practitioner got me a copy of Zhuan Falun in spite of the risk. As soon as I opened the book, it grabbed my attention. I had been to many places looking for the true meaning of life and the origin of life. I had wondered what exactly the world was about. But I had never been able to answer these questions. As soon as I finished reading Zhuan Falun, I knew Teacher had given me the answers I had always been looking for. My thinking truly climbed higher, and my view of the world changed.
In the first half of 2001, I had a health examination at my work place. I was surprised to find out that the fibroid tumors in my breasts that had bothered me for many years had disappeared. I didn't believe it at first, but the medical examination indeed showed that they were no longer there. Although I had read Zhuan Falun, I hadn't even started to practice the exercises yet. I was so moved that I burst into tears.
With the constant help of fellow practitioners, my understanding of Falun Dafa gradually grew deeper. I also learned the five sets of exercises. I went through quite a few tests, since I was coming from a mindset of seeking more knowledge at first, to learning to understand the Fa [great law, universal principle] from within the Fa, and eventually stepping forward to clarify the truth of the persecution. My cultivation environment became better and better. I still haven't done very well in clarifying the truth of the persecution to people because of my fear. When I was not diligent, Teacher hinted to me in a dream,
"The Dafa disciples
ascend to the heights of the heavens
In control of Heaven and Earth, rectifying the human realm"("The Foretelling")
I then realized that I was a Falun Dafa disciple in the Fa-rectification period.
In another dream, there was a big bus. Many Falun Dafa disciples got on the bus to listen to Teacher's lecture. I saw Teacher sitting on the bus and waiting for disciples. I hurried to him and asked, "Teacher, could you please wait for my daughter? I don't know where she went." (I was strongly attached to her with the sentimentality of a parent) Teacher said, "OK." But we waited for a long time and she still didn't show up. The bus was full, and people were still squeezing into the bus. Teacher said to me again, "Come in." I asked Teacher again, "Could you wait a little longer, please?" Teacher smiled and said, "OK." After I woke up the next morning, my daughter asked me for Zhuan Falun. It was Teacher's mercy that saved another life. Every time I recall this, I can't help crying silently. It comes from my understanding side that knows how much Teacher has given me. With all the words in the world, I am still not able to describe my gratitude to Teacher. It's a debt that I could not possibly pay back even with my countless lifetimes.
When I first started to cultivate, some practitioners said to me, "You are great. It's not easy to be able to learn Falun Dafa in such an environment where people are being persecuted for refusing to give up the practice." I felt complacent. But now I say I was able to learn Falun Dafa because of Teacher's mercy. Teacher gave the Fa to me only because I said a few words in support of Falun Gong, and he gave me the answers to all my questions. Only when I advance more diligently will Teacher, who mercifully and laboriously saved me, be pleased to see me, and I will deserve to be called a Dafa disciple in the Fa-rectification period.

(Clearwisdom.net) Practitioners have human notions on their path of cultivation. Some practitioners are diligent in overcoming their tribulations quickly and solidly, while others struggle to pass a test, making it even more difficult to overcome the next one. Some practitioners lack courage to get up after they have fallen. The latter two types of practitioners are being irresponsible towards themselves, towards sentient beings and even worse, they are disappointing Teacher's compassionate salvation.
I began practicing Falun Dafa in March of 1998. When the persecution first began in July 1999, I stumbled several times in cultivation because of holding onto human notions. Through the help of fellow practitioners, I finally made up my mind last spring to truly practice Falun Dafa. At first, I was afraid I could not catch up with the other practitioners. However, by continuously studying the Fa (1), I gradually felt that I was back in the Fa again. I know that Teacher once again scooped me up out of "Hell," and I barely escaped from falling back down the same deviant path of my past.
Just when I was determined to get back to the practice of Dafa, Practitioner C, who used to encourage me when I had stopped practicing, was shaken by the attachment to wealth and became muddle-headed. He only thought about how to get rich and slowed down in Fa study. He rarely shared his experiences with other practitioners and was reluctant to read articles from the Minghui website (The Chinese version of Clearwisdom).
A few days ago, I delivered the Minghui Weekly and one of Teacher's lectures, "Teaching the Fa at the 2004 Washington DC Fa Conference" to Practitioner C. After he read the Minghui Weekly, he overreacted and said, "Ah, then we should just learn the Fa at home, why go out to post banners and posters and deliver flyers?! Isn't this participating in politics? I don't want to practice anymore." I quickly sent forth righteous thoughts to clean out the evil factors behind him. However, I wasn't very calm at that time. Gradually my friend calmed down, but he still wanted to stop practicing. I was afraid that I would make the situation worse by saying too much (which I later realized was the attachment of fear and of not firmly believing in the Fa), so I didn't say much. Before I left, I left him Teacher's lecture and took the Minghui Weekly back. I thought that that was the end of his practice. I didn't think Teacher would still guide him.
A few days later, I ran into Practitioner C. He told me that after I left, he felt terrible like he just finished a battle and then fell asleep. In his dream, he was operating a tractor and was going up a hill. I was behind the tractor, saying, "Move forward, move forward." He answered, "It's fine, I am switching to reverse gear." Then all of a sudden we both fell into a deep ditch. He woke up after that. He told me he realized it was Teacher trying to enlighten him and said, "I probably would not practice anymore if I hadn't had this dream. Now I have to continue practicing." While he shared this experience, we both had tears in our eyes. Our magnificent and compassionate Teacher did not leave behind any practitioner!
Through this incident, I enlightened to the understanding that our compassionate Teacher does not want to leave any practitioner behind, even those who are not doing well. Teacher is still guiding them and giving them hints with compassion and providing them with constant opportunities to improve. I encourage practitioners who are doing well in their cultivation to help out those who have a lot of attachments and who are not diligent. As the Fa-rectification progresses into the final stage, all practitioners are Teacher's students and we form one body. At the same time that we clarify the truth to people, we can't forget about those practitioners who fall behind.
I also hope that practitioners who are not doing so well in cultivation will take hold of this never-before opportunity to practice and cherish what they have waited for for thousands of years. For themselves, sentient beings, Fa-rectification, and the grace of Teacher's compassionate salvation, try to be diligent and catch up with the progress of Fa-rectification!
In the end, let's review part of "Teaching the Fa at the 2004 Chicago Conference," and progress solidly together:
"... I want to save each person. As long as someone has learned the Fa, I want to save him, I don't want to abandon those people. (Applause) When you Dafa disciples develop even stronger righteous thoughts among you that will be what's most magnificent. Starting from each person, let's truly make our environment a very righteous one, and then all the unrighteous factors will dissolve, and all the students who haven't conducted themselves well will see where they fall short, and it will make them do better."

I started practicing Falun Gong in 1996. During the past eight years, Teacher has guided me on my path of cultivation. The sacred Fa (1) purified my soul and body. After going through many tribulations, words are inadequate to express my gratitude.
One evening near the end of 2000, approximately nine policemen suddenly broke into my home. They ransacked my house and took away anything they saw including the copy machine, the computer, typewriter, telephone, cell phone, radio and stationery. They took my son to the detention center and later sentenced him to two years in a labor camp. At that time I wasn't able to handle it. My husband and I tried every possible connection to get my son released. But the people we talked to all said that it would be very difficult.
I then enlightened to my own understanding that we cannot pursue things in this human world. Instead we should walk the path Teacher has arranged for us.
Several days later, my husband and I were both abducted by police. Later we were sent to a labor camp and detained there for nine months. We suffered inhumane torture and were traumatized both mentally and physically while our family and relatives sacrificed much for us. I once deviated from the path that Teacher has set out for me. However, Teacher did not give up on me, even when I did. He has been watching over me so that I could stand up after stumbling down, and I was able to rejoin the effort to save sentient beings. The following is an account of two of my experiences.
I enlightened to the fact that our path of cultivation is growing wider and wider. We are becoming wiser and wiser in saving sentient beings. With the Fa in our heart, we can achieve anything.

"From now on, the Dafa disciples in China as much as anyone, both new students and veterans alike, should let go of their long-standing human attachments and start to seize the day and comprehensively save the world's people. ...Dafa disciples, don't forsake the magnificent responsibility that has been bestowed upon you in Fa-rectification, and even less should you disappoint those beings, as you are now their only hope for entering the future. For this reason, all Dafa disciples, students both new and veteran, should get to work and begin comprehensively clarifying the truth. This is especially so for the Dafa disciples in Mainland China: each must come out and clarify the truth, bringing it to every field and valley, mountain and hill, not omitting a single area where there are people. ..."
When we meet fellow practitioners through our phone calls to China, we can tell them that this new article is very important and that Beijing and Manhattan, New York, are the two main places where the evil forces have gathered together. It is especially important to share our understandings with practitioners in Beijing when we make phones calls to Beijing.
One holiday afternoon, we made phone calls as a group. Practitioners whose righteous thoughts were stable could reach a state of absolute compassion not limited by time or space and could impart their compassion and righteous thoughts to those we called. Only compassion can encompass everything. Other practitioners cooperated by sending forth righteous thoughts. The whole field was full of energy. After we showed our concern for the person we called, it often turned out that he or she either was a Falun Gong practitioner or was close to Falun Gong practitioners. We therefore quickly connected with several fellow practitioners.
The following are some stories related to our phone calls to Beijing:
After one person finished listening to the truth, he said excitedly that he had a neighbor who practices Falun Gong and that he would be happy to pass on the information to him.
Another young man said that he had just returned home after being detained for two years for holding a banner in Changchun. Then the person who called began to describe the progress of Fa-rectification and also read Master's new article, "Let Go of Human Attachments and Save the World's People" to him. The practitioner in China began to cry after listening to Master's article. Another Taiwanese practitioner took over the phone and continued to talk to him, encouraging him and telling him that we knew what they have suffered for their determination to cultivate Falun Dafa in that environment over these past five years. What they have done not only makes us admire them but also encourages us to help more Dafa practitioners in China to step forward to clarify the truth.
A young lady mentioned that her sister had just been released from illegal detention in a forced labor camp. The doctor made a diagnosis of ovarian cancer that her sister developed as a result of the long period of persecution and the lack of studying the Fa and practicing the exercises. She is now being treated with chemotherapy. This is a special case. We've already asked practitioners who are medical professionals to continue to communicate with her about her sister.
We called two practitioners simultaneously and read Master's new articles to them. They appreciated this and told us that they were touched and encouraged. We encouraged them repeatedly to remember to step forward and to save the world's people. We also asked them to pass on this message to other fellow practitioners.
One woman hung up the phone out of fear as soon as she heard that the call was from Taiwan and that Falun Gong was mentioned. We called again and this time a gentleman answered. After he heard from us that anti-torture exhibitions are being held in many countries, that many people in Western countries know Falun Gong is being persecuted in China, and that many people support Falun Gong, he told us with joy that he is also a Falun Gong practitioner. He gave us his phone number and asked us to call him again to share with him when we have time. He thanked the practitioners in Taiwan for their concern.
When another gentleman answered our call, I intuitively felt that he was also a practitioner. He listened to the truth quietly. When I asked whether he had neighbors or family members who practice Falun Gong, he answered that he himself is a Falun Gong practitioner, but he said that it wasn't convenient for him to talk in the factory. So he asked me to keep talking and he would just listen. I mentioned to him that the response to the anti-torture exhibitions in Manhattan was very positive and made it possible for Westerners to know that Falun Gong is being persecuted in China. I told him that I was also going to New York to clarify the truth. He wished us success before we said goodbye to each other.
(Clearwisdom.net) As Falun Dafa disciples in the period of Fa-rectification, we have very important responsibilities and missions. Our saving sentient beings should also include our family members.
For a practitioner, if you do things righteously, your family environment will also be righteous. There will be fewer troubles in your home, and your family members will also benefit. On the other hand, if you have too many human notions, you may deal with things like an everyday person, such as having a bad temper whenever something comes up. In this way, although you speak of Dafa, you are actually pursuing fame and self interest. If you just pay attention to yourself and ignore other people's feelings, and are even unable to take care of elderly people in the family, how can your family feel that Dafa is good and practitioners are good? How could you achieve a good effect when clarifying the truth to family members yet displaying these attachments to them?
Teacher said,
"Dafa disciples, don't forsake the magnificent responsibility that has been bestowed upon you in Fa-rectification, and even less should you disappoint those beings, as you are now their only hope for entering the future."

I hope all practitioners can let go of all attachments in the final steps of Fa-rectification, rectify their family environments to better save sentient beings and fulfill our historic mission.
(Clearwisdom.net) Several days ago, I suddenly took a fall while riding a bike. At the time, I thought that a tumble was not a big deal. Later, I realized that thought was not righteous, because by thinking that way, I was once again accepting the old forces' arrangements. The old forces always make up something to "improve" me, but I cannot acknowledge this at all. Now, whenever my leg happens to touch something, it is somewhat painful--it seems to be trying to draw my attention. I do not pay attention to these manifestations at all, and just do the things that I should do.
No matter what happens, we should just do the things that we are supposed to do. Every day, I am just doing things I should do. I no longer feel excited after clarifying the truth to someone in daily life, since that is just my mission. Regardless of the battle between righteous and evil, or other things we are doing, Teacher is using these opportunities to help Dafa practitioners become mature, and reach consummation. This is the most important thing. In my personal understanding, when Teacher teaches the Fa, it is as if describing a tree. Sometimes He talks about the big picture from different angles, and sometimes He specifically talks about a certain part, such as the leaves or trunk. Nonetheless, He wants us to study Fa without any human notions. The process of Fa-study is a process of stepping away from human notions.
(Clearwisdom.net) The last time my mother traveled abroad to visit me was two years ago, and at that time I asked her to watch a Video-CD which explained the facts about the persecution of Falun Gong and read a variety of materials I had which detailed the persecution. She took a few copies of the VCD with her when she went back to China, saying she intended to show it to others.
Since it was unsafe to talk about Falun Gong either on the phone or in emails due to governmental monitoring, she didn't have the opportunity to tell me what she did with those VCDs until she came to visit me again recently. She told me that she had showed them to other people, giving onee to my sister and her husband. Another to her workmate, and then her workmate gave the VCD to her mother. After watching the content, her mother said, "They [Jiang's faction] can do anything for political purposes!" My mother's workmate asked her whether she felt sympathy towards Falun Gong, and my mum replied, "Of course, they didn't commit any crimes but have to suffer such brutal persecution." My mother put the third copy of the VCD in a public place, hoping that someone would watch it and learn the facts. Although my mother doesn't practise Falun Gong at present, her righteous attitude has already built up a good foundation for her to learn to practice Falun Gong in the future.

(Clearwisdom.net) Due to a co-worker's mistake at work, Mr. Liu was exposed to strong X-ray radiation and was injured very badly. He spent a lot of money on various treatments, but his health got worse and worse and he struggled near the brink of death.
Later, Mr. Liu was introduced to Falun Dafa. As he cultivated Dafa sincerely and steadfastly, he miraculously recovered a few months later and soon returned to work. Mr. Liu couldn't help telling everyone he knew that it was Falun Dafa which had saved his life. His colleagues were very impressed by the power of Dafa.
After Mr. Liu retired, a private company hired him. As Mr. Liu was very skillful in the job, worked hard and never competed for money, he soon earned his co-workers' respect and his employer's trust. Mr. Liu required himself to act strictly according to the standards for cultivators. He also told his colleagues about the truth of the persecution launched by Jiang Zemin's regime. Once, a co-worker was injured at work. Mr. Liu sent the co-worker to the hospital and paid his hospital bill. He also helped out other co-workers when they were short of money and needed help.
Such a good person as Mr. Liu was persecuted by the "610 Office" because of his belief in "Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance." Mr. Liu was deprived of the right of work. He had to leave home and live in various places order to avoid further persecution.
After Mr. Liu left, his boss sighed, "I won't find any other employees as good as him!"

Falun Gong Practitioners Announce Initiation of Criminal Lawsuit Against Jiang Zemin in Sweden
On Tuesday the 21st of September 2004, Falun Gong practitioners in Sweden held a press conference to announce the initiation of a criminal lawsuit against former Chinese president Jiang Zemin for murder, torture and abduction during the persecution of Falun Gong. Swedish MP and Member of the Swedish Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Helena Bargholtz joined the press conference and gave a speech in support of the legal action. Meanwhile, practitioners staged an anti-torture exhibition to expose the brutality of the persecution. The date coincides with the United Nations International Day of Peace.
During the press conference, Swedish practitioners and their lawyer Peter Bergquist announced that criminal charges are being prepared at present in Sweden against the former Chinese president Jiang Zemin, and other perpetrators in the persecution of Falun Gong, for murder, torture and abduction.
Peter Bergquist said in his speech, "China is a nation without an independent judicial system and the nation faces a moral downslide in which human rights are often violated or sacrificed. Falun Gong is not a political movement, but is regarded as a threat by Jiang because Falun Gong had quickly outnumbered members of Chinese communist party. An even bigger threat to Jiang seems to be the practitioners' goodness and their belief in the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance. Legal actions are ongoing everywhere around the world against the main perpetrators in China and Sweden can also contribute. The perpetrators can and will be punished either in Sweden or elsewhere."
The Swedish MP and Member of the Swedish Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Helena Bargholtz, who focuses especially on human rights issues in her work, gave a speech during the press conference. Ms Bargholtz concluded her speech with greetings and the following words, "I admire the courage of Falun Gong practitioners and especially the courage of those who are persecuted in China."
The anti-torture exhibition lasted the whole day and the press conference took place between 1pm and 2pm. Several members of the Swedish parliament had the opportunity to visit the anti-torture exhibition and many passers-by stopped to receive information about the persecution of Falun Gong in China. TV teams, newspaper reporters and a radio station were present during the press conference to cover the event and conduct interviews.
Several media came to interview practitioners, the lawyer and Ms. Bargholtz.
A Thousand Falun Gong Practitioners Rally in Manhattan, New York City, to Raise Awareness of the Persecution
During last two months, practitioners have been continuously clarifying truth to all circles of Manhattan about the brutal persecution of Falun Gong in China. On September 22, while the 59th UN conference opened at its headquarter in New York, nearly one thousand practitioners rallied at UN Plaza. After a large group practice and a press conference, practitioners formed a "Great Wall of Courage" on the 3rd avenue of Manhattan to further call upon people support to end the persecution.
At 10:30, a press conference to "Rescue children victimized by the persecution of Falun Gong" started.
Since Jiang Zemin launched the persecution in 1999, at least 1049 practitioners have been persecuted to death for appealing for justice for Falun Gong. Countless people have been illegally sent to labor camps, sentenced to prison terms, etc. Tens of thousands have been severely tortured for exposing the severity of the persecution. According to incomplete statistics, from July 1999 to September 2004, on average 17 practitioners died as a result of torture and abuse every month with about 51% female and 48% male (As a result of information being blocked, the gender of the remaining 1% have not been identified.) The average age of the victims were 45 years old and many of them were parents of young children who have now been orphaned and living without support.
The press conference called upon people to help rescue the children who are being fiercely persecuted in China either due to their parents or themselves practicing Falun Gong. Practitioner Jane Dai and her daugher Fadu shared their story: When Fadu was only 6 months old, her farther was killed as a result of torture for refusing to renounce Falun Gong, by authorities following Jiang's persecution policies. Since then, Fadu and her mother have traveled to 38 countries to expose the persecution. Practitioner Amy Lee was also persecuted in China and had been forced to separate from her daughter for two years. These true stories revealed how much suffering and damage the brutal persecution had brought to innocent practitioners.
Practitioner Xuefei Zhou, who was recently rescued to the U.S. from China, gave her personal testimony to the persecution that she had experienced in a labor camp. She also thanked Americans for rescuing her. Ms. Zhou's case and many others tell us that voices of justice indeed can help to restrain and eventually end the persecution.
Many reporters from various media asked the questions of why Jiang and his political followers view Falun Gong as a threat and why practitioners under persecution refuse to give up their belief.
Before the press conference ended, host Al Whitted emphasized again: Practitioners are neither against China nor the Chinese government, but only against this persecution.
Los Angeles: Falun Gong Wins Three Prizes at Korea Town Festival
A large-scale parade in celebration of the 31st Korean Festival was held in Korea Town of Los Angeles on the afternoon of September 17, 2004. The Korean Festival is to promote harmony between ethnic groups and Korean culture. It encourages communication and exchange between ethnic groups, and improves mutual understanding of nearby communities. The theme of this year's celebration is multiculturalism and unity. One hundred thousand Korean Americans live in Los Angeles with most of them in Korea Town. There are also African American, Hispanic, and Pacific Islanders living close to Korea Town.
This is the first year that Falun Gong practitioners in Los Angeles have participated in the Korean Festival. A banner saying "Falun Dafa -- Ancient Practice for Mind and Body" headed the procession. Falun Gong practitioners' beautiful dance, traditional waist-drum playing, and elegantly decorated float won waves of warm applause. Falun Gong practitioners won first prize for the parade procession, the first prize for float, and the third prize for waist-drum playing.
This parade has given people in Korea Town a good chance to know the beauty of Falun Dafa. Parade spectators received truth-clarification materials and learned about Falun Dafa with great enthusiasm.
The U.S. Department of State's Sixth Annual Report on International Religious Freedom Condemns the Violations of Citizen's Religious Liberty in China
On Wednesday, September 15, the U.S. Department of State issued its sixth annual Report on International Religious Freedom. Country by country, this report documents the conditions of religious freedom around the world. Because of its persecution of Falun Gong and other religious groups, China is once again identified what the U.S. Department of States refers to as Countries of Particular Concern, governments that engage in or tolerate gross infringements of religious freedom. Besides China, four countries including Burma, Iran, North Korea and Sudan have been re-designated in a list for continuing to violate their citizens' religious liberty.
According to Radio Free Asia's report on September 15, the U.S. Department of State's Report on International Religious Freedom includes 192 individual countries and areas on the status of religious freedom. The China section of the report contains more than 40 pages.
The U.S. State Department's report pointed out that although the Chinese Constitution provides for freedom of religious belief and the freedom not to believe; however, the Government seeks to control the growth and scope of activities of religious groups. The Government's respect for freedom of religion and freedom of conscience remained poor, especially for many unregistered religious groups and spiritual movements such as the Falun Gong. Unregistered religious groups continued to experience varying degrees of official interference and harassment. Members of some unregistered religious groups were subjected to restrictions, including intimidation, harassment, and detention.
The report stated, "The Government continued its repression of groups that it categorized as 'cults' in general and of the Falun Gong in particular. The arrest, detention, and imprisonment of Falun Gong practitioners continued. Practitioners who refuse to recant their beliefs are sometimes subjected to harsh treatment in prisons and reeducation-through-labor camps and there have been credible reports of deaths due to torture and abuse. Christian-based groups that the Government considered cults were subjected to increased government scrutiny during the period covered by this report."
The Report on International Religious Freedom stated that religious freedom is a universal value, and almost all of the world's nations have signed one or more international agreements committing them to respect individual freedom of thought, conscience and belief. The report pointed out that religious liberty is the first freedom of the human soul and we continue to strive, at home and abroad, to uphold religious freedom as the universal right that it is.
Falun Gong Practitioners Expose the Persecution during the 59th United Nations Summit
During the 59th United Nations Summit from September 20 to 24, 2004, in order to allow leaders and representatives from different countries to learn about Falun Gong and the ongoing persecution in China, Falun Gong practitioners from across the world gathered in New York and peacefully explained the facts about Falun Gong to people.
A Christian sheds tears upon learning the truth
A practitioner talked to a Christian and told him that many people in China were killed simply because they believed in Falun Gong. The practitioner hoped that he would convey the message to his fellow Christians in his church and asked them to help pray for Falun Gong practitioners and pray for an end to the persecution. He answered, "Thank you, I will."
The practitioner brought him over to a look at a group of posters and related the plight of Ms. Jane Dai's family, whose husband was tortured to death in China because of his belief. Upon listening to the story, the man's eyes were full of tears. He said, "I will definitely pray for you all."
People in the financial circles pay attention to the persecution
Close to Wall Street, a female staff member from Chase Bank read practitioners' truth-clarifying posters. A practitioner went up and told her that in China, many practitioners of Falun Gong had been tortured to death. The woman was astonished and said, "How come I did not know that! How come all the official news out of China only talks about good things?" The practitioner told her that in order to attract foreign investments, a few people in the Chinese government always control the media, so that the outside world cannot learn about the true situation, especially the facts about the human rights violations against millions of Falun Gong practitioners. The practitioner went on to explain that many toys and other products were manufactured by Falun Gong practitioners imprisoned in China's forced labor camps, without pay. Those products are exported to other countries including the U.S.
After listening to the explanation, the woman clearly expressed her wish for the persecution to end. She also signed the petition prepared by practitioners calling for an end to the persecution.
After viewing the truth-clarifying posters and the live torture re-enactment, a man who works on Wall Street asked whether these were actually happening in today's China. A practitioner answered "yes," and told him that the persecution and these tortures are currently going on in China and that what was being demonstrated was only a tiny part of the true situation.
The gentleman said that many American companies invest in China. Why would they continue to invest after they learned about the truth? The practitioner said, "Because there are still many people not aware of the persecution in China, against those who believe in Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance. We believe when people are all aware of the truth, they will then make the right judgment."
New Yorkers: "What can we do to help you?"
Upon learning about the truth, many New Yorkers wanted to donate some money to help. Some people asked what they could provide to help practitioners. Some asked, "You only asked us to tell the facts to our relatives, friends and to write letters to our Congressmen/Congresswomen, are these enough to help stop the persecution?" Practitioners said, "If one did something wrong, or if he killed another person, what he fears most was to let other people know about it. If people from all over the world are all aware that it was jiang Zemin who initiated the persecution, the persecution would be stopped." Hearing that, passers-by said, "Now I get it and I will tell my friends about this."
Passers-by who sign the petition say that the persecution is wrong
A passer-by said, "Falun Gong meditation is so peaceful. I don't understand why China (Jiang's faction) would treat you this way!" A practitioner told her that people practice Falun Gong to improve their health and become good people by following the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance. Many people felt good about the practice and wished to learn and practice Falun Gong, which was introduced by Mr. Li Hongzhi. However, out of his jealousy, the then-Chinese leader, Jiang could not tolerate it. He then abused his power and started this brutal campaign to suppress Falun Gong. At least 1,000 practitioners have died from the persecution.
When a Westerner signed the petition, this reporter went up to ask him why he signed it. He said, "The persecution is wrong, because it is not right for people to suffer the torture simply because of their practice. That is absolutely wrong. I think Falun Gong is a kind of art." He said that people should be righteous and that people should live together in a harmonious way.
He felt the peaceful field when practitioners practiced the exercises. Then he and his friends followed along with the practitioners and learned the movements.
More and more New Yorkers are awakening. Under the situation that more and more evil factors are being cleared away, and there are fewer and fewer evil factors left, people's knowing sides are becoming more and more clear. A New Yorker picked up a flyer on the ground and read it while walking. The scene touched practitioners. Previously, it was practitioners who picked up flyers thrown on the ground, and now passers-by are doing so too. People are awakening and they are longing to learn about the facts.

Thank you for your recent correspondence concerning Falun Gong practitioners in South Africa.
Canada remains deeply concerned about ongoing reports of the suppression of freedom of expression and spiritual practice in China, including Falun Gong. Canada consistently raises the human rights concerns of many Canadians during regular dialogues with Chinese leaders at all levels.
Canada registers its concerns about China's human rights record in annual public statements, including those made at the United Nations General Assembly and the United Nations Commission on Human Rights. The most recent Canadian statement, delivered in Geneva on March 25, 2004, made specific mentions of the persistent scale and scope of restrictions on freedom of expression, association, religion and spiritual beliefs, which reflects concerns about the treatment of both spiritual groups such as the Falun Gong and minority groups in Tibet and XinJiang.
Canada engages China on human rights issues through a dialogue process, including the Joint Committee on Human Rights (JCHR), where the Chinese government is urged to respect rights such as freedom of expression. At the seventh meeting of the JCHR in October 2003 in Ottawa, Canada raised a number of key human rights concerns, including the plight of Falun Gong practitioners, with Chinese authorities.

Korea's Cheonan City Senate Unanimously Passes Resolution to Urge Release of Falun Gong Practitioner Gao Chengnu
On September 13, 2004, the Cheonan City Senate unanimously passed a resolution to urge the Chinese authorities to unconditionally release Gao Chengnu, the wife of Korean citizen Guo Binghao, for a safe return to Korea. She is currently being held at the Jiamusi City Forced Labor Camp in Heilongjiang Province.
Cheonan City senators said they completely understood the agony of Mr. Guo Binghao. The senate promised to take active measures to rescue Gao Chengnu on humanitarian grounds.
Cheonan City Senate planed, on September 14, 2004, to send the Chinese version of "Urge Release of Gao Chengnu Resolution" via priority mail to the head of the Department of Foreign Affairs for China, to the governor of Heilongjiang Province, the mayor of Jiamusi City and the head of the Jiamusi Forced Labor Camp.
Concurrently, members of the "Rescue Gao Chengnu Committee" are actively collecting signatures to help ensure Gao Chengnu's release and safe return to Korea.
Attachment: "Urge Release of Gao Chengnu" Resolution
Chinese citizen Ms. Gao Chengnu, who is currently incarcerated in Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province, was officially married in China to Mr. Guo Binghao, a resident of Cheonan City, Korea on May 18, 2003 under Chinese law.
In the process of applying for a passport and following her husband to Korea, Gao Chengnu was illegally arrested and detained by Chinese police for practicing Falun Gong. She is currently being held at the Jiamusi City Forced Labor Camp in Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province, where she is being tormented and mistreated under the persecution.
Her Korean husband, a kind-hearted young farmer named Guo Binghao petitioned the Cheonan City Senate for help.
The Cheonan City Senate filed a motion and conducted an investigation based on solely humanitarian grounds.
After an investigation, the Cheonan City Senate has reached the conclusion after that Gao Minghao's wife Gao Chengnu didn't commit any illegal acts and should not be detained.
Therefore, all members of the Cheonan City Senate have decided to strongly urge the Chinese authorities to unconditionally release Gao Chengnu based on humanitarian grounds and ensure her safe arrival in Korea.

I am writing on behalf of my constituent, Mr. Zhang Chunyu, whose mother and sister are being held by the Public Security Bureau of the People's Republic of China. (Please see attached email for background information).
Like many MPs, I continue to be very concerned about the violation of human rights in China and the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners.
I have, along with other MPs, raised this issue with the Canadian government on many occasions, and urge you to express Canada's strong opposition to the violation of basic human rights in China.
You may recall the arrest and detention of two Canadians in China - Ying Zhu and Shenli Lin, both Falun Gong practitioners who were later released because of the strong intervention by human rights groups and government officials in Canada.
As a country that prides itself on its humanitarian record, I once again urge you to consider Mr. Chun-yu Zhang's call to help his mother Hui-zhen Yang and Chun-gang Zhang - to secure their release and safety.

Dutch Member of the PVDA Party Bert Koenders Expresses His Concern about the Safety of Dutch and Foreign Falun Gong Practitioners
Mr. Bert Koenders, House of Representatives of the Dutch Parliament and Member of Party of the PVDA wrote to Falun Gong practitioners recently to express his concern about the safety of Dutch and Foreign Falun Gong practitioners. Below is a translation of the letter from Mr. Koenders.
I have read your letter with great interest and I have to say that I am truly shocked upon learning of what happened in South Africa. The Netherlands must do everything in his power to ensure the safety of Dutch and foreign Falun Gong practitioners at the coming top meeting. As a democratic country it should ensure everyone's rights.
We of the PVDA will watch closely to see if all of our national principles of our juridical system are being followed at all times. Any indication of the contrary will be a reason for us to investigate the issue and will in that event notify our cabinet at once.
In principle we rest assured that the AIVD and other relevant governmental organizations have made a just and realistic assessment of the possible risks prior and during the top meeting between the European Union and China. The AIVD claims to exclude any potential foreign involvement. So far safety has been ensured during the Dutch chairmanship in the European Union.
From a wider perspective PVDA is very concerned about the persistent violation of human rights in China. We have insisted numerous times to increase international pressure on China via international forums in an effort to enhance the human rights situation of practitioners of Falun Gong, as well as that of the Tibetan people. We think that the best way to achieve this effect is via orchestrated international sanctions and critique. It is a shame that many countries while clinging on to their economic interests fear to confront these inhumane situations. This has resulted that with regard to China's misbehavior, a clear international stance has yet to be concluded.
Now and in the future, we of the PVDA will not neglect our duty to help focus attention on the human rights situation in China and will insist the cabinet that it shall raise this issue in international meetings.

Canada: Member of Parliament Rahim Jaffer Writes to Falun Gong Practitioner Concerning the Drive-by Shooting of Falun Gong Practitioners in South Africa

Thank you for taking the time to contact me regarding recent reports of a drive-by shooting of Falun Gong practitioners in South Africa. Please forgive the delay in my response, but as you can appreciate the volume of mail received at my office does not always allow as prompt a response as I would wish.
Please be assured that your concerns are being strongly noted. The Conservative Party of Canada condemns human rights abuses under any regime as well as the continued violations of human rights that take place under the Chinese government.
I also appreciate the concerns you express regarding hate propaganda targeting Falun Gong by the Chinese Embassy and Consulates in Canada. My colleagues and I in the Official Opposition continue to work hard on behalf of Falun Gong practitioners on issues such as this one. In the past I have written letters to our senior ministers as well as the Chinese government, identifying these abuses and calling for these violations to end. I have also taken the liberty of forwarding your concerns to the Minister of Foreign Affairs for the government's consideration of your views.

China: Twenty-Three Falun Gong Practitioners Verified Being Tortured to Death in August 2004
In August 2004, it was verified that another twenty-three Falun Gong practitioner were tortured to death in China. These messages are from trustworthy people in the country. Thus, the total number of verified death by torture cases concerning Falun Gong practitioners has risen to 1,036.
The twenty-three death by torture cases were from ten provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities, with five deaths in Liaoling Province, four in Sichuan Province, four in Tianjin City, three in Heilongjiang Province, two in Hebei Province, and one death each in Jiling, Shandong, Anhui, and Guizhou Provinces, and Xingjiang Autonomous Region.
Among those twenty-three Falun Gong practitioners who were tortured to death, the oldest was Wang Qingzhou, 57, from Weihai City, Shandong Province. The youngest was Lian Ping, 29 years old, from Donggang City, Liaoning Province. Seven practitioners were older than 50 and represent 30 percent of the total death numbers. Ten were women, representing 43 percent of the total death by torture numbers.
Among the twenty-three cases, fifteen were tortured to death in 2004. Eighteen of them were tortured to death either at the detention center or died shortly after being taken home. Some of them had been extorted large sums of money before they died. Two were tortured to the point of metal before their death.
The Persecution Methods I Experienced in Heizuizi Jail and Labor Camp, Jilin Province, China
The following is the persecution I personally experienced and witnessed in Heizuizi Labor Camp and Heizuizi Jail of Jilin Province.
The guards there often strip Falun Gong practitioners naked and shock them with electric batons, and they also kick them with their boots. To force the imprisoned practitioners to renounce Falun Gong, they handcuff them in painful postures for a long time. Examples include putting the person in a metal chair, with their arms outstretched in handcuffs; handcuffing a person's wrists whereby one arm is extended around the body to the back and is joined with the other wrist that comes over the shoulder; compressing the whole body together in shackles so that the person cannot stretch out their back; and binding the person to a bed. Moreover, they put feces, urine, phlegm, and nasal mucus into practitioners' food, add spoonfuls of salt into the gruel, and stuff practitioners' mouths with the mop used to clean the floor. They do things that a normal person could not imagine.
In the labor camp, going to the bathroom is allowed only during limited times -- once in the morning and once in the afternoon. You must report to the warden if you need to go to the bathroom at any other time. Once, a practitioner named Wang Yuzhi had a stomachache and reported to the warden because she needed to go to the bathroom. It happened to be the wardens' dinnertime, and they cursed at her and drove her away.
If jailed practitioners were found practicing the Falun Gong exercises, they would incite the other inmates to force them into the lavatory and open all the windows to let in the winter cold. They poured water onto the ground where the practitioners were practicing the sitting meditation. They shocked the practitioners with electric batons and pricked them with super-heated needles. They would carry the practitioners who were on hunger strike to the dining hall and force them bend over the food with their legs straight.
The imprisoned practitioners never had a comfortable meal there. They had to line up and report their roll call numbers in front of the dining hall. Then they receive a bowl and food from the guards, wash the dishes after their meal and finally line up again to leave. The whole process is only allowed to take place within 10 minutes. If someone is a bit slow, the guards would start to curse at them.
The practitioners were forced to perform extended slave labor. Every day we were awakened at 4:00 a.m. and seldom stopped working by 10:00 p.m. More frequently, the work lasted until midnight or even 2:00 in the morning.
Huge Profits Made Forced Labor Camp in Changchun City, China

The Chaoyang District Forced Labor Camp in Changchun City recently moved to an adjacent location. After the move, the old site was leased to a few underground factories that have no business license and pay no taxes. The labor camp forced detainees to work in these factories. The labor camp police have made huge profits from this arrangement.
These factories include a print shop, leather processing shop and a glass factory that makes bottles for salad oil. We heard that these factories are very likely owned by the forced labor camp police themselves or their friends.
The labor camp officials made deals with the factory owners. They often forced the labor camp detainees to fold paper in the print shop or work on miscellaneous jobs in the leather processing shop. Exploitation in the print shop is the most severe. We learned that these factories take advantage of this cheap labor and the labor camp police pocket big profits.
The detainees there have to work days and nights. They only rest for a few hours every day. Their meals are very meager and dirty. Occasionally, when the food supply improved, it was no more than a steamed bun. The vegetables were whatever was the cheapest. Sometimes they would serve the same type of vegetable for months.
The buns were extremely white and looked unusual. Many labor camp detainees developed a serious chronic illness after eating these buns. The symptom was similar to tuberculosis. Several people eventually died, and some survivors later went home. They had to spend a large amount of money on medical bills. Some died due to lack of treatment because they could not afford the medical fees.
The labor camp employed a so-called "merry-go-round," brainwashing newly detained Falun Gong practitioners non-stop. The camp police tried to force the practitioners to denounce their belief. They played video and audio tapes slandering Falun Gong and Master Li. They deprived Falun Gong practitioners of sleep and denied them toilet breaks. This torture would last one week if the practitioner refused to give up Falun Gong. The camp police used many other kinds of torture techniques on these practitioners. They invented many dreadful methods to harm the practitioners without leaving any evidence. One of the torture methods was to put several plastic bags over the person's head and tie it off at the neck. The victims would have difficulty breathing and eventually suffocate. This was a form of murder, and people killed this way showed no signs of physical abuse.
We appeal for an investigation of these crimes committed by those perpetrators at the Chaoyang Forced Labor Camp in Changchun. The governmental Business and Tax Administration should thoroughly investigate these factories.
China: Forced Labor Camp Intensify the Persecution during Jiang's Visit in Huludao City
Recently Jiang Zemin visited Huludao City. As a result, the authorities from Huludao City Forced Labor Camp intensified the persecution of Dafa practitioners who were on hunger strike. They prohibited Dafa practitioners from being released on a bail to seek hospital treatment, claiming that if they die, that's what they deserve.
Since late July, as the number of practitioners who went on hunger strike increased, the authorities took up the policy of "Three Changes and Four Stops." (Change Strategy, Change Attitude, Change Circumstance, Stop Visits, Stop Sleeping, Stop Outdoor Activities, Stop Outside Communication) Liu Guohua said that there were orders from the upper level officials, "Those who meet with an accident or die due to their hunger strike and self injury should be responsible for all the consequences and should be considered for criminal sentence." He also said, "What's the big deal with somebody dying? The Procuratorate wouldn't care. If the family members who are informed of their relatives' death don't claim the dead body, then two or three days later the dead body will be cremated and there will be only ashes left. Wasn't Liu Liyun cremated? Go wherever you want to appeal." Wang Yongming, Head of Division No. 6, is one of the people carrying out this persecution. He often beat up and physically punished practitioners on hunger strikes and claimed, "At worst, I would no longer be a policeman. If somebody goes on hunger strike, I will conduct force-feeding until he is disabled." Recently the police officers subjected Tao Shan, Du Jincai, and Shi Chunde to solitary confinement.
At 5:50 pm on August 16, 2004, the policemen entered the solitary confinement chambers to force the practitioners on hunger strike to do the "Sitting Board." [Every day, practitioners put their hands on top of their laps, with backs straight and sit on hard-wood benches 18 hours a day] Those practitioners who refused to do so because of their weakness from the hunger strike were dragged out to suffer electric shocks. Du Jincai and Shi Chunde were beat up. In the evening during the ward inspection, the policeman asked them to report their code number. The practitioners refused and were slapped in the face. Since then, the criminals in the labor camp have also aggravated the persecution of the practitioners. The criminals often punched and kick them or beat them up with a mop handle.
An Eyewitness Account of Slave Labor and Deplorable Conditions at Female Prison, Shandong Province, China
Shandong Female Prison is acclaimed as the "civilized prison" of the province. It is actually a living hell. Prisoners here spend most of their time processing clothes in an awful environment. I am in the 4th Section. I have been working in the basement and have not seen sunlight for two years. We have over 300 people jammed together in this space. The air is foul. We cannot breathe well and we cough constantly. Moreover, we continuously work overtime. At times, we work through the night for several days without being allowed to bathe. The longest time was when we worked non-stop for 8 days and 8 nights in September during the hottest time of the year. Without washing for 8 days and nights, our bodies smelled very bad. We could hardly survive it. We lived like this through the whole year. When Labor Day on May 1st and National Day on October 1st approached, we were forced to work on making toys.
We worked overtime sewing toys until 1:00 am, then we went back to the ward and cut furs until 2-3:00 am. When a prison inspection team visited, prisoners were told to tell lies, saying that we worked until 8:00 p.m. every day and that we had the weekends off. None of us dared to say that we actually worked all through the night; otherwise our points would be deducted (which means our terms would be extended) and we would also be beaten. The supervisors and leaders are very good at torturing and verbally abusing people. I saw that several healthy people were beaten until they suffered mental collapse from the trauma. We can only take a bath every 2-3 months. Our bodies have various infections.
The food here is extremely bad. We are given cold meals regardless of the season. Every day we eat mashed winter melons, pumpkins, cabbage, and carrots. Prisoners are very likely to get sick. The evil here is beyond description. The brainwashing in the prison is actually forcing people to be selfish and to tell lies. The perpetrators from Jiang's faction have deformed the whole of society and the legal system.
France: Newspaper,"L'Union en Ligne," Reports on Falun Dafa: The Method of Relaxing Body and Mind from China
The French newspaper L'Union en Ligne reported the following on September the 8th 2004:
Falun Dafa is attracting more and more disciples from all over the world and it will come to Reims soon. The method of relaxing body and mind from Mainland China, is now banned by the Chinese Government.
The method is suitable for all ages without any side effects. The five simple sets of exercises are practised with music and tens of millions of people in the world are practising Falun Dafa.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a method of sitting in meditation together with special exercises similar to Yoga and Tai Chi. It originates from Chinese traditional culture and was introduced to the general public in 1992. Deng Bo explains that Falun Gong is not a religion but a method of relaxing body and mind.
Deng Bo is twenty nine and a student whose major is electronics, electronic engineering and advanced automatic engineering in Reims Science and Technology Academy. The future engineer is a representative of the Falun Dafa Association in Reims. She volunteers to teach those who are interested in the method some sitting and standing exercises that are very easy to learn.
The bright smiling girl explained that Falun Gong is a method of meditation and has no political agenda or religious rituals. Everybody can learn it without membership or hierarchy. All classes are free of charge. All materials are available on the Internet for free. Deng Bo has lived in France for a year and half. Is she going back to China? She is not considering it at the moment.
The method of meditation was banned in her motherland in 1999. The success of the method among the people frightened the Chinese Government. "This method of relaxing the body and mind is non-political, neither do we seek money or fame." Tens of millions of Chinese people had been practising Falun Gong before it was banned. "Many people have been put into prison since it was banned and the situation of some other practitioners is even worse now due to the brutal persecution."
Mr. Li Hongzhi is the founder of Falun Gong. He now lives in the United States where there are a lot of practitioners.
Falun Gong is the method of self-meditation refining the body and mind. Many people can be seen practising Falun Gong in the Jardin du Luxembourg and Parc des Butte Chaumont in Paris. Numerous Falun Dafa practitioners are practising together. The exercises, including sitting meditation, are easy to learn and they can make you feel relaxed and increase your energy levels. Advocate (Australia): For A Young Falun Gong Follower, A Trip To China Is Beyond
Belief
On September 16, 2004, Hornsby Advocate, a newspaper in Australia reported the plight of mother, Ms. Lydia Zhao and her 15-year-old daughter Manying Yan who reside in Hornsby, Sydney and have been unable to renew their Chinese passports because of their practice of Falun Gong.
The report said, "A Hornsby mother and her 15-years-old daughter have been unable to renew their Chinese passports and return to China."
The family say the passports have been denied because they practice Falun Gong, a belief system based on principles of "truthfulness, compassion and forbearance".
Lydia Zhao said her daughter, ManYing Yan, was desperate to return to China to visit the grandparents she had not seen for more than five years.
"Everyone who is a Chinese citizen has a right to a passport," Ms Zhao said. "I just feel very sad about my daughter."
ManYing, who is a St Ives High School student, said that without a passport she was stripped of a nationality.
"It is like you don't belong anywhere, " she said.
More than two years ago, Ms Zhao and her daughter went to the Chinese Consulate in Melbourne to renew their passports.
The two are both permanent residents in Australia, having moved from China with Ms Zhao's husband and ManYing's father, Brain Yan in 1995.
Ms Zhao said the consulate questioned her about Falun Gong -- the practice was banned in 1999 by former Chinese Communist Party chief Jiang Zemin.
"I told them I only do exercise in Hornsby Park every morning," she said. "I didn't do anything wrong.."
The mother and daughter did not receive their passports and have since written six letters to the consulate on the matter.
"We haven't heard a single word since that day," ManYing said.
The Advocate made several attempts to contact the Chinese Consulate in Melbourne and the Embassy of the People's Republic of China. There was no response.
Practitioners say Falun Gong, or Falun Dafa, is based on the principles of truthfulness, compassion and tolerance.
It is practiced in more than 60 countries and has attracted some 100 million followers.
Another practitioner and Hornsby resident, Lilian Peng, has called on Hornsby Council to condemn the persecution of Falun Gong followers.
Ms Peng said the council should support its residents' right to "participate in the spiritual practices of their choice."
New York Times Reports on Falun Gong Practitioners' Activities in Manhattan
On September 23, 2004, New York Times correspondent Anthony Ramirez filed a report describing the ongoing activities of Falun Gong practitioners in Manhattan. He noted that long after other groups had gone home after the Republican National Convention, Falun Gong practitioners remained to expose the persecution in China.
The article stated:
"There they are in front of the United Nations. There they are near
Bloomingdale's and in front of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. There they are
near Zabar's and the American Museum of Natural History. There they are in Times
Square, Bryant Park and Chinatown.
"Why are the Falun Gong protesters still here? And why are they seemingly
everywhere?
"When a dozen or so Falun Gong practitioners were asked those questions
this week, they laughed good-naturedly. The group had gathered in a Midtown
apartment building at the request of The New York Times.
" 'Falun Gong wants as many people as possible to know about the group's
plight and that is only possible in the world's media capital,' said Gail
Rachlin, a Falun Gong practitioner and a former public relations
consultant."
The report continued, "Falun Gong has protested in the city, on a smaller
scale, for years. But in the last few months the group has increased its
activities. Every day, 100 or more Falun Gong practitioners fan out to as many
as 10 heavily traveled sites. They plan to do this as long as they can.
"Yesterday, for example, about a dozen practitioners in their signature
yellow T-shirts were on the sidewalk outside City Hall. Some sat cross-legged,
others quietly walked around, handing out literature. Large photographs of
burned and beaten prisoners were propped up against the fence of City Hall Park.
"A black banner read, 'This is what is happening in China.' A practitioner
with red paint on her wrists was roped to a miniature gallows, as another
practitioner, dressed as a policeman in dark glasses, waved a truncheon.
"'You can't not notice them; they're everywhere,' said William Kane, 17, of Brooklyn, who delivers food for a nearby restaurant. 'They're very effective. They got my attention.'"

Positioning one's mind is as arduous a task as positioning one's body in
Falun Gong, a physical art rooted in traditional Chinese culture.
The practice, also referred to as Falun Dafa, is guided by universal principles
of truthfulness, compassion and tolerance.
According to a news release written by Falun Gong practitioner Amy Rooker, of
Eureka, it was popularized in China during the 1990s after having been passed
down privately for generations.
The popular practice, which Rooker said stimulates physical and mental health,
was banned in 1999 by Chinese dictator Jiang Zemin.
Rooker and four other local residents meet regularly to practice Falun Gong.
One member of the group, Andy Ellsmore, of McKinleyville, traveled to China in
2002, where he stood in Tiananmen Square and for about one minute held up a
banner touting Falun Gong, before he was arrested and escorted by armed
policemen to the airport.
Falun Gong is a testament to the effectiveness of certain types of thinking on
the physical body, Rooker said.
She said last year she sprained her neck severely while lifting a heavy object.
She couldn't move her neck or bend. She was in constant pain and muscle
relaxants didn't help.

She began studying an introductory book about Falun Gong, as well as on the Web
site www.falundafa.org, and learned its exercises with the help of practitioner
William Timm, of Eureka.
Falun Gong (Falun Dafa) is guided by three principles and the key, and
challenge, is to incorporate the meaty concepts into your daily life, using five
different sets of exercises to do it, said Eric Marin, of Eureka.
Rooker said Falun Gong cured her of her pain and gave her body back its
mobility.
"By doing the exercises, I feel ... real centered in myself," Ellsmore
said. "You focus on emptying your mind completely of all these random
thoughts. ... You're focused. ...
That's where truthfulness, compassion and tolerance (come in)."
Martin said when he first started the exercises, he had no idea how he would
incorporate the principles into his life.
Lisa Escobedo, of McKinleyville, said people find many different meanings in
each of the three principles.

During the interview, this led to a discussion about what truth, compassion and
tolerance mean.
Truth, Martin said, "is being able to notice and admit your own
shortcomings (and) not always putting the blame on other people. ... Look
inside."
"Tolerance is endurance ... of different situations," Rooker said.
"Sometimes doing these exercises can be difficult."
"The only real way to know for yourself what these principles are about is
to read the book," Ellsmore said.
Spain Europa Press: Jia Qinglin Is Sued in Spain
Falun Gong filed a lawsuit against a Chinese official during his visit to Spain. The People's Political Consultative Conference Chairman of China, Jia Qinglin, has been sued for genocide and torture.
On the 2nd of September, at the Spanish National Court in Madrid, Falun Gong practitioners filed a lawsuit against the People's Political Consultative Conference Chairman of China Jia Qinglin. Jia arrived in Spain on September the 3rd on an official four-day visit. He has been indicted for crimes of genocide and torture of Falun Gong practitioners while he was the Communist Party Secretary General of Beijing between 1999 and 2002.
Yesterday, Jia Qinglin had a short meeting with the vice-chairman of the Senate, Isedre Molas, and the vice-chairman of House of Representatives, Manuel Marin. According to the lawyer representing Falun Gong, Carlos Iglesias, they both had already received Jia's crime list. In the afternoon, Jia also had a meeting with people from the business and financial world.
The persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China may be the biggest genocide case in the world after the Second World War. Indeed, if we look from the number of people suffering under this persecution and the cruelty of the methods of persecution, we could also say that this is the biggest genocide ever in human's history.
This genocide has been hidden by the Chinese Community Party as they control all the media throughout the whole country. During these five years, this brutal persecution of peaceful Falun Gong practitioners has caused over a thousand people to be persecuted to death, including women, children and the elderly. "However, the international community still has not taken any effective steps to stop it."
The persecution of Falun Gong by the CCP started in July, 1999. Falun Gong is an ancient way of cultivation; it was first introduced to the public by Master Li Hongzhi. Since then, in as short as six or seven years, Falun Gong became popular with people from all walks of life, it spread all over China, and nearly one hundred million people were practicing it.
During the first seven years, the Chinese government had a supportive attitude towards Falun Gong. Falun Gong also won many prizes due to its huge contribution towards people's health and moral quality.
Nevertheless, quick growth of Falun Gong created panic in former chairman of
China, Jiang Zemin. "In China, nearly one in twelve people practiced Falun
Gong. Every morning, before going to work, they gathered together in local parks
to practice Falun Gong. The number of people practicing Falun Gong exceeded the
membership of the Communist Party members and many practitioners are Communist
Party members."
In these circumstances, with no regards to the Chinese Constitution which
protects freedom of belief, Jiang banned Falun Gong and began this large-scale
persecution. He ordered the formation of the "
610 Office" (the organization was named after the date it was established, 10th June, 1999), which is similar to the Nazi Gestapo. Its only purpose is to destroy Falun Gong completely. During a Politics Bureau meeting, Jiang set down the policy for those Falun Gong practitioners who do not want to give up their belief: "Defame their reputation, bankrupt them economically, and destroy them physicall."
According to statistics, by now one thousand and fifty people have been tortured and persecuted to death. However, the real number of people dead could exceed five thousand. Lawyer Carlos Iglesias says, "Because the Chinese authorities cremate the corpse so rapidly in order to destroy the evidence, it is very hard for us to find out the real number of people who have been persecuted to death."
Additionally, there are over fifty thousand practitioners detained in labor camps. There, they suffered all kinds of torture, such as electric shocks on sensitive parts of body, force feeding, being burned with red-hot iron rods, injection with drugs, etc. There are even cases of prison guards stripping female Falun Gong practitioners' clothes off and throwing them into male cells.. Many practitioners have lost their lives under this extremely brutal torture.
This savage trampling has received strong condemnation by the UN Human Rights Committee. Besides, the parliaments of Europe, Canada, USA and Australia, as well as many human rights organizations such as Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch also gave strong responses to this issue, they requested the immediate end of the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners.
Lawyer Carlos Iglesias said, "The persecution of Falun Gong has gone far beyond Chinese national boundaries. What we are facing now is an genocide case that has no regard for districts, races and nationalities, which aims at completely rooting out Falun Gong."
For example, in Spain, there are many cases of the Chinese consulate refusing to renew Falun Gong practitioners' passports without any written explanations. "The Chinese consulate did not give any written explanations, they only said that the reason for not renewing their passport was because the bearer practices Falun Gong. Falun Gong practitioners have been put on their black list." "The Chinese consulate's motive is to deprive their rights to join any Falun Gong or demonstration activities abroad."
Fifteen accusers of different nationalities are accusing Jia Qinglin of taking part in suppressing Falun Gong practitioners by genocide and torture while he was holding the post of the Communist Party Secretary General of Beijing.
This is another accusation which is filed in Spain after the one against Jiang Zemin for the crime of genocide in persecuting Falun Gong. Now there are seventeen countries, including France, Germany, Belgium, USA, Australia, Taiwan, Tanzania etc., which are processing penal action that aims at the persecution by the CCP authorities of Falun Gong practitioners. As lawyer Carlos Iglesias said, "This is the first time in human history that one law case is litigated in five continent in the whole world. Additionally, he also emphasized that "we are not against the Chinese government but those criminals who took part in this persecution. Falun Gong has never taken part in politics nor will it in the future, meanwhile, we are not interested in any economic profits."
Carlos Iglesias also said that this year, Spain is the chairman of UNSC. By turns, it should let China know that people all over the world are paying attention to the human rights situation in China. "The Spanish government is very clearly aware of the suppression happening in China now." However, regretfully, the CCP authorities keep savagely trampling human rights as well as international rules.
Falun Gong Practitioners' Personal Experience
A Traditional Chinese Medical Doctor's Testimony: Falun Dafa Cured Illnesses That Had Tormented Me for Decades
I am 69 years old in 2004. I am a traditional Chinese medical doctor working as a chief physician at a hospital in China. I started to practice Falun Gong in 1996. Since Jiang Zemin started to openly persecute Falun Gong practitioners on July 20, 1999, I have been trying to explain to my fellow Chinese people the truth about Falun Gong. The staff from the local Public Security Bureau, local police stations and the neighborhood administration office in my community, as well as my patients, have repeatedly asked me the same question: "You are a trained medical professional. You are supposed to believe in science. Why do you believe in such superstition?" As I have explained to them before, I can testify based on my personal experience of studying Falun Gong books and practicing the exercises that Falun Dafa is supernormal and not a superstition.
I was born in a prestigious family, where nearly all of my family members are traditional Chinese medical doctors. My father was a chief physician and my elder brother and younger sister are both deputy chief physicians. Despite my prestigious background, I had been tormented with many terminal illnesses for decades. My father and my siblings were capable of providing me with the first-class medical care, but they were unable to treat my illnesses.
First of all, I suffered from menorrhagia (excessively heavy or prolonged uterine bleeding), which caused chronic anaemia (deficiency of red blood cells) for many years. Despite the blood transfusion, the massive bleeding and severe anaemia had even caused hypovolemic shock or oligemic shock (characterized by the loss of fluid from the circulating blood volume, so that adequate circulation cannot be maintained to all parts of the body.) In women, the total hemoglobin (hemoglobin gives red blood cells their color and carries oxygen) concentration is typically 12 to 16 grams per deciliter (dl), but my typical hemoglobin concentration was 5 - 6 g/dl. It had even dropped to 2.7 g/dl at one point. Due to my severe chronic anaemia, my heart continued to enlarge and I constantly suffered from shortness of breath, palpitation, angina (chest pain because the heart is weak) and swelling in the legs (oedema). I had to avoid touching the left side of my chest because of the pain. I felt weak and frail all the time, and I could not have babies.
Secondly, I was diagnosed with vulvar dystrophy. My gynecologist, the Chairman of the OB/GYN department in a hospital, recommended that I have vulvectomy, but I decided not to have the operation. Instead, I was given Fluocinolone Acetate (A topical glucocorticoid used in the treatment of eczemas) ointment to stop the itch. Over the years, it spread to my vagina, anus, groin and the lower abdomen. The itch was unbearable. Eventually, the vulvar dystrophy developed into cancer, which then spread to other areas in my body. In the end, I could even feel a hard issue in my stomach, but I didn't have the courage to go under the knife. In the end, my weight dropped from 152 to 100 lbs.
Thirdly, I suffered from tuberculosis in my early years. After I recovered from tuberculosis, the disease had left me with frail lungs. Each and every winter, I would be inflicted with colds, coughing, and shortness of breath. I took both traditional Chinese herbal medicine and western medicine for many years, and I was under the medical care of famous doctors, but I was still haunted with illnesses. How could I possibly have any pleasure when I had to take medication following each meal each day? I tried to practice many Chinese qigong (a form of traditional Chinese exercise which cultivates qi or "vital energy"), but none of them helped me combat my illness or improve my health.
In 1996, I had the great fortune to learn Falun Gong. Since then, I concentrated on my cultivation practice wholeheartedly. All of the aforementioned illnesses that had tormented me for decades went away without a trace. Before I started to believe in Falun Gong, I I expected that medical science would provide a solution to my terminal illnesses. However, I was repeatedly left disappointed. Over the decades, my illnesses had never improved; they merely deteriorated. I believe in Falun Gong because it actually got rid of all of my terminal illnesses. My skin texture has also improved and I now have a rosy complexion. I have become very fit and can walk for a long distance without feeling tired. My voice has become loud and clear instead of whispering and weak. Although I am approaching 70, I have been repeatedly told that I look like I am in my 50's. Each time the staff members from the local Public Security Bureau, police stations and the neighborhood administration office in my community came to see me and tried to make me renounce Falun Gong, I would share with them my personal story of becoming perfectly healthy because of Falun Gong. At the end of the story, I would ask them, "I have been practicing Falun Gong for eight years. In the past eight years, I have been perfectly healthy and did not need to take any medicine or get a shot. Even for a young man such as yourself, can you honestly say that you have never been sick and did not have to take medicine or take any shot at the hospital in the past year?" Then they became speechless.
I think the complete transformation of my health is testimony that Falun Dafa is the most extraordinary science and not a superstition. We all know that everyone has to go through the inevitable cycle of birth, aging, sickness and death. When I was severely ill and halfway to death, neither Chinese traditional medicine nor western medicine was able to save me. It is Falun Gong that cured my terminal illnesses and prevented me from having any illnesses. Isn't it a most miraculous phenomenon? Isn't Falun Dafa extraordinary?
A Teenage Thanks Falun Gong for Saving Him from a Fatal Illness
I am a thirteen-year-old practitioner from China. The only thing I can say is, "Thank you, Master and Falun Dafa for saving me when I was on the verge of death."
According to my grandmother, I started showing signs of illness when I was 4 years old and even after six months of medical exams, the doctors still did not know what I had. Only later, did we discover that it was "bone tuberculosis." My family was very poor at the time and my father had tuberculosis and needed injections continually. He was hospitalized many times, which cost a lot of money. We borrowed from many relatives and friends. Despite all the treatment, my father died a few years later. When I was five years old, according to my grandmother, I had three surgeries to remove growths; the first one was on my back. However, not long after, there was another growth on my shoulder, so a second surgery was necessary. Not long after that another one appeared on my foot, which led to yet another surgery. Although three surgeries were performed, it was not over. I had a bleeding infection that drained continually. A lot of money was spent. The hospital had discovered that it was an incurable disease after its original diagnosis, yet performed the surgeries, without telling us! We borrowed money from all of our relatives and friends, two of whom were Traditional Chinese doctors, who also said that the condition was incurable.
I was brought home to live out the rest of my remaining life. Because my father died, and now I was dying, my mother could not handle the pressure and left home with my sister. My sister and I are twins. I heard that my mother left with tears in her eyes. Ever since then, I have lived with my grandmother and grandfather.
They both looked everywhere for folk medicines, but nothing worked. Grandmother couldn't sleep or eat well and both she and grandfather cried every day. They didn't want to see me die, but who could save me?
One day in March of 2000, my grandmother met a kind person who practiced Falun Dafa. She told my grandmother, "Why don't you practice Falun Dafa? Only Falun Dafa can save your whole family. If you truly practice Falun Dafa, the disease will be cured." This is how my grandmother and I started to practice Falun Dafa.
At the beginning, I couldn't even stand up or sit up to listen to the Fa. We received 14 audiotapes of Master Li's lectures. Because my grandmother and I could not read at the time, we listened to the lectures every day. After listening for a while, I could sit up. Then my grandmother borrowed a copy of Zhuan Falun from a fellow practitioner, who also taught me how to read and use a dictionary. My grandfather also taught me how to read. Within six months, my illness was cured.
It was Master Li who saved me! Master Li and Falun Dafa saved my whole family.
Grandfather brought me to the hospital to determine the condition of the bone tuberculosis, but they were unable to find anything wrong with my body. The hospital gave permission for me to return to school.
Right now I am in second grade, because I don't know that many vocabulary words. I can't write any deep understanding of Falun Dafa, but I just want to thank Master Li and thank Falun Dafa.
I want Falun Dafa to be treated fairly, but such a good practice is persecuted in China. Falun Dafa teaches people to do good, avoid doing bad deeds, help people and always think of other people first. Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance are what Master Li teaches us.

Anecdotes about Failed Anti-Falun Gong Signature Drives in China
College Signature Drive Ignored
In a famous northeastern teacher's college located near Changchun City, a long row of tables were set up just outside of the cafeteria during lunch time. Each of the tables had a long white cloth covering the top and a lot of pens and markers for signing the tablecloths. There was also a propaganda bulletin saying that the petition was against Falun Dafa. It is a new campus that is yet to be completed with about 6,000 people using this one cafeteria. You can easily imagine the amount of traffic going in and out of the place.
However, very few people signed the cloth. A student in charge decided to start dragging people in and out of the cafeteria to sign, but many people were disgusted instead and many of them openly refused. This signature drive from set-up to clean up lasted only half an hour. The white cloth pretty much remained a white cloth.
A Joke at High School Signature Drive
At a northeastern town's experimental high school, another signature drive was taking place. Every class was to send 4 students to sign. Based on prior experience, these 4 students are the best in the class in terms of grades and obedience to teachers. There should have been no problem at all. To everyone's surprise, many signatures were in the names of some famous singers and actors from Hong Kong and Taiwan. The school authorities had no other choice but to turn these kinds of signatures in.
Children Refuse Listen to Pressure or Propaganda
Children who understand the truth employed unique means to resist signing. For instance, a third or fourth grade student from a northeastern town's experimental elementary school was asked by a teacher to sign her name against Falun Dafa. This student knows that Falun Gong is good. She was not going to sign, however, she didn't want to disobey her teacher's order either. She got an idea that if she broke the tip of her ballpoint pen on her way to school, then her pen would not write. It was a bit chaotic with activity around the scene and she decided on the spot that even if she makes a mark, she wouldn't write her name. When her turn came, she scratched into the white cloth "Falun Dafa is Good." More surprisingly, many children left marks on that piece of white cloth and the words they wrote were "Falun Dafa is Good!"
New Yorkers Speak Out Against the Persecution
In late September, while the 59th United Nations Summit is held in New York City, Falun Gong practitioners from all over the world have come to New York, to hold anti-torture exhibitions and raise awareness about the persecution of Falun Gong. Many New Yorkers have learned about the persecution and have taken action against it. Some of them said they would call their government representatives and tell them about the persecution in China. Some have expressed their opposition to the persecution.
After Learning the Story of Falun Gong, People Said, "The World Needs Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Everyone Needs It."
Many people have heard about Falun Gong and learned about the persecution through the practitioners' intensive truth-clarification activities. A passer-by told a practitioner, "The world needs Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. It isn't just for China, but for the whole world. What Falun Gong practitioners are doing is great! How could such peaceful people be tortured? You are so peaceful and calm. It is from the bottom of your hearts. You have a peaceful light from within. The world needs this. Everyone needs it."
A Passer-by Feels the Pain of the Torture Victims
A woman gently stroked the hand of a female Falun Gong practitioner who was playing the role of a torture victim. She looked very concerned. She was trying to feel the pain of the torture victim. She kindly asked the Falun Gong practitioner if she felt cold and gave her a hug. The woman said, "It is too cruel to torture people for doing exercises!" She sat down next to the Falun Gong practitioner demonstrating the torture method of being confined in a small cage and tried to feel his pain. She said, "How can someone treat his fellow countryman like this?" Finally, this kind woman walked to the banner with the words, "This Is Happening in China," and helped hold the banner.
"The One Who Persecutes Good People Must Be Crazy. It Has to Be Stopped."
A person passing by told Falun Gong practitioners that he thought Falun Gong was beautiful. The persecution of Falun Gong was like the persecution of Christians, he said. The Chinese leader who was responsible should step down. He said, "He must be crazy. He is a madman like Hitler. It has to be stopped. Has to be stopped... we know about various persecutions taking place, but none of them is as harsh as this one." When a Falun Gong practitioner told him the persecution had been going on for five years, he said even five days would have been too long. He wished the practitioners good luck.
Agent at New York Mercantile Exchange: "It Shouldn't Have Happened."
Falun Gong practitioners held an anti-torture exhibition and photo exhibit at Broadway and Liberty. It was close to the financial center of Manhattan. Many employees of financial companies go to have lunch there.
A gentleman who works in NYMEX said, "The persecution shouldn't have happened. Many people don't know things like this are still happening in China."
One woman said, "The persecution is so wrong. Everyone should have the freedom of belief. I also do meditation. People shouldn't be persecuted for meditation or having a belief. Everyone should have the freedom of speech. If you torture people like this in New York, you would be tracked down, arrested and punished." This woman signed her name on the appeal letter and took some truth-clarification materials to put in her restaurant.
"The Media Should Let Everyone Know about the Persecution"
A passer-by said, "The United States hasn't shown much concern about the persecution in China. I will ask the media to report about it. It is ridiculous that all the media focus on only Iraq. They should focus on this persecution also, let everyone know about it and help stop it."
A T-shirt vendor took some truth-clarification materials. He said he would help us distribute them at his booth.
A Woman from New Jersey: "The Persecution of Falun Gong Practitioners in China Is a Tragedy."
At the photo exhibit at Broadway and Spring, three bicyclists from France said they had heard about Falun Gong and the persecution in China. All of them signed the appeal letter. One of them works at an institution studying Chinese forced labor camps. She knew about the prisoner abuse in Chinese forced labor camps. They wished us success.
On Union Square, a woman from Princeton, New Jersey, told the reporter that she had heard about Falun Gong in New Jersey. There were Falun Gong practitioners in Princeton. She had read some materials about the persecution in China. She said, "I think the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China is a tragedy. People there can't have the freedom of the belief." She signed her name on the appeal letter.

1. [Zhengzhou City, Henan Province] Falun Dafa Practitioner Chen Lijun Escapes from of the Shibalihe Forced Labor Camp
On September 7, 2004, personnel from the Shibalihe Forced Labor Camp had to hospitalize Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Chen Lijun who has been illegally detained there several times. She had become extremely weak after being subjected to severe torture. In the process, Chen Lijun managed to escape with the power of her righteous thoughts. The person who was accompanying her was Ren Yuanfang, leader of the No. 3 Division. At present, police from the labor camp are secretly trying to hunt down Chen Lijun.
2. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Falun Dafa Practitioners Wu Dandan, He Xiuhong and Dr. Zhou Sent to Chenjiaji Brainwashing Center in the Hankou District
On September 8, 2004, personnel from the city's "610 Office" (1) forcibly arrested practitioners Ms. Wu Dandan from Wuhan City's Jiang'an Vehicle Factory and Ms. He Xiuhong and Dr. Zhou from Jiang'an Vehicle Factory's Affiliated Hospital while they were working at their respective units. Many employees were present when the "610 Office" personnel arrested the practitioners. People were very disturbed by the illegal conduct of these people from the "610 Office." Some patients asked, "What about those patients who are waiting for Dr. Zhou to perform surgeries on them?"
The family members of the practitioners went to their work units to demand their release. The officials replied, "This is the quota a superior gave us for the "re-education" [brainwashing] class. We can't help you."

3. [Huaying City, Sichuan Province] Falun Dafa Practitioner Tang Guoping Sent to Xinhua Forced Labor Camp in Mianyang City
In June 2004, personnel from Huaying City's "610 Office" arrested practitioner Mr. Tang Guoping from Yanghe Town and sentenced him to three years of forced labor. In July, Tang Guoping was sent to the Xinhua Forced Labor Camp in Mianyang City, Sichuan Province.
4. [Anda City, Heilongjiang Province] Police Arrest Practitioner Sun Rulin
On August 31, 2004, some plainclothes officers from the Qitie Police Precinct arrested 56-year-old practitioner Mr. Sun Rulin, former manager of the Passenger Transport Section, Anda City's Railway Station, a resident of the Wolitun area. According to the railway station staff, Sun Rulin was in a short-sleeved T-shirt and shorts. It's believed he was arrested from home, and police didn't even allow him to put on outer clothing.
5. [Kunming City, Yunan Province] Dafa Practitioner Zhang Jufen Detained in a Forced Labor Camp
It is reported that at around 5:00 p.m. on July 13, 2004, personnel from the Guandu Police Precinct arrested Ms. Zhang Jufen from Kunming City along the Panlong River and sent her to Yunnan Province Women's Force Labor Camp that same night. The next day, Mr. Tang Zesheng, Zhang Jufen's husband, went to the Macun Police Precinct to find his wife. Officers in the precinct told him to call the "610 Office" in the Guandu District. Then Tang called the "610 Office." Personnel from that office told him that Zhang Jufen was arrested and sent to Kunming City's No.1 Detention Center on March 26, 2003 for distributing materials explaining the facts of the persecution in Xiama Village. On May 9, 2003, she was sentenced to two years of forced labor in Yunnan Province's Women's Forced Labor Camp. As it happened to be during the SARS plague, the forced labor camp was not taking more detainees and she was sent home. Recently, the police took her back to the labor camp to serve her term. They plan to detain her until next May.

Practitioner Mr. Li Ganglin from Handan City had just been released from a forced labor camp few months ago, but was arrested again during the afternoon on September 3 and was sent to Handan City's Brainwashing Center. Since no family members were at his home when they arrested him, nobody knows exactly who is responsible for the arrest. A few days prior to the arrest, personnel from the city's Shengli Bridge Police Precinct and from the local community office had come to harass the family. It might have something to do with them.

7. [Jilin Province] Persecution of Determined Practitioners in the Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp
Since the middle of June, authorities in Jilin Province's Women's Prison, also known as the Heizhuizi Forced Labor Camp, initiated another campaign of "enforced reform" against steadfast practitioners. For those practitioners who will not recite the prison regulations, refuse to carry a criminal's ID number or refuse to participate in forced labor, the authorities forbid them from writing letters and also prohibit visits from their family members.
There has been no information about Ms. Diao Shuanyun, a practitioner in the "enforced reform team" since June. Her family called the forced labor camp, but did not get any information.

8. [Fushun City, Liaoning Province] Practitioner Wang Zhongsheng Arrested and Sent to a Brainwashing Center
Practitioner Mr. Wang Zhongsheng, 60 years old, was a senior instructor from Xinbin Town's Communist Party School. Since 1999 when Falun Dafa was outlawed, he went to Beijing twice to appeal for Falun Gong, but was put into forced labor camps twice. He was dismissed by the school and lost his financial resources, so he made a living by sharpening scissors and knives. Later he worked as a tutor to support himself and his wife.
On August 31, 2004, the police forcibly arrested Mr. Wang Zhongsheng from home and sent him directly to the Luotai Resort Brainwashing Center where he has been detained since then.
In addition, the police also threatened some other practitioners from Xinbin Town.
9. [Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province] Practitioner Tan Xianfu Sentenced to Four Years in a Forced Labor Camp
On March 15, 2003, practitioner Tan Xianfu from Kai County, Chongqing, Sichuan Province was arrested at Shiqiao, Fanyu District in Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province. It has been reported that he/she was sentenced to four years of forced labor at the beginning of 2003 and is now being detained at Nansha in the Fanyu District.

In early September of 2003, practitioner Ms. Chen Sudan from Luogui Bridge, Liutie Mine, Yunfu City, Guangdong Province was arrested in Shekou, Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province. I was reported that she has been sentenced to two years in a forced labor camp and is being detained at Guangdong Province's Sanshui Women's Forced Labor Camp.

On September 6, 2004, practitioner Ms. Sun Jiping went back to her hometown in Dayou Township, Linghai City, Liaoning Province for a visit. The police from the Dayou Police Precinct arrested her and detained her at Linghai City's Government Execution Detention Center.

At about 4:00 a.m. on September 6, 2004, Li Wangyi, supervisor of the National Security Team for Yueyang City's Jinpeng Police Precinct, led other policemen and forcibly abducted her. 15. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Falun Dafa Practitioner Liu Qingming Escapes from a Brainwashing Center
Practitioner Liu Qingming was illegally detained at Dalian City's Brainwashing Center in the Huanbao Hotel. On August 30, during breakfast, the practitioner escaped and returned to the mighty current of Fa-rectification. Lawless police are presently stationed around the homes of Liu Qingming's relatives and intend to arrest him again.

(Clearwisdom.net) A "solemn declaration" is a person's public statement declaring to the world that whatever he or she has done or said under duress or deception that was against Falun Dafa is null and void. Most of these statements have come from Falun Dafa practitioners in China who wished to express regret that, in the face of physical torture and brainwashing, they had signed documents renouncing Dafa and guaranteeing not to practice again. Facts of the Persecution
Falun Dafa practitioner Qian Shiguang, a senior engineer for Northwest Geological Research Institute in Lanzhou City, Gansu Province, was severely tortured at Beijing Police Department's Eastern Branch Detention Center, at the Tuanhe Prisoner Dispatch Center, and at the Tuanhe Forced Labor Camp. Policemen instigated inmates to beat him up; strike his legs, feet and hands with the sole of a shoe; and push his head into a toilet bowl. On one occasion, the cell ringleader and another prisoner kicked his lower back with full force for about two hours. They then pushed him onto a bed board and grabbed his testicles. Whenever Qian Shiguang shouted, "Falun Dafa is good!" the policemen would beat him aggressively. Policeman Yin Hongsong kept him in a dark, damp, water-supply house for over three months, during which the policemen sprayed his face with medicinal liquids classified as irritants and poured ice-cold water down his neck.
Division One of the Beijing Tuanhe Forced Labor Camp was once known as Tuanhe's "Special Guards" unit, and it is the most notorious for its brutality. The heads of this division include Yan Xiaojie, Liu Guoxi and Liu Xincheng. They use groups of up to six criminal inmates to monitor each practitioner. To protect their own interests, these inmates assist the policemen in torturing practitioners. Every practitioner is held individually in a small room and forced to sit on a miniature bench only suitable for small children. After sitting on it for several days, the practitioner's buttocks develop blisters. The heads of Division Two are Jiang Wenlai, Ni Zhenxiong, Zhao Yinbo, Song Yeming, and He Kun, all of them capable of very savage behavior. They used eight large, high-voltage electric batons to shock the sensitive body parts of practitioner Mu JunKui. Practitioner Liu Cheng was ordered to run laps, but his body had been weakened by continuous torture, and he was unable to, so policemen Ni Zhenxiong and Ji Shibing pulled him by his arms and dragged him along on the ground. The director of the Education Office in the labor camp is also a vicious man. He arranges all of the brainwashing activities in every division, and he also helped create the malicious "Legal Training Center" for physically and psychologically torturing practitioners.
Female practitioner Xi Surong, a farmer from Mucheng County, Hebei Province, was brutally tortured. In late 1999, when Xi Surong traveled to Beijing to clarify the truth about Falun Dafa, she was abducted and taken to Qianmen Police Department, her hands handcuffed behind her back. Afterwards, she was transferred to the Mucheng County Police Department. The head of Mucheng's Political Security Section, Wei Zhaotian, struck her face with a broom and put her in an iron cage in the detention center. On the 23rd of December, the month when people in China prepare to celebrate the Lunar New Year and normally the coldest time of the year, she was taken to a meeting to receive public criticism and denunciation. That night, a thug named Liu Yuancai and two accomplices slapped her, stripped her of her quilted coat and shoes and forced her to stand in a flowerbed in the yard. On the 2nd day of the fourth month of the lunar year 2004, she was abducted to the county government's facilities, where she was severely beaten until her face was swollen and numb, and she nearly lost consciousness. In July, the villains unlawfully abducted her husband, detaining him in the county government's facilities for one day. Xi Surong herself was held in a detention center for four months, until her father paid the officials 2500 yuan for her release.
Ms. Song Lixia from Kunming City, Yunnan Province, is almost 40 years old. In October 2001, she was illegally sentenced to two years of re-education through forced labor for distributing truth clarification materials related to Falun Dafa. This July, she was detained again for helping a fellow practitioner with whom she distributed truth clarification materials. The policemen were quite violent when abducting her, and the local police station later ordered an illegal search of her home to be conducted that night. They also instructed her co-workers to spy on her. On August 31, she was abducted again from her work place. Anyone with additional information about her is encouraged to further expose the injustices.
The Perpetrators and their Criminal Acts
Zhang Xinghai is the Director of the Security Division of Dongchuan District Police Department. He led policemen in abducting Falun Dafa practitioners in Kunming City, Yunnan Province. As a result of Zhang Xinghai's actions, practitioner Yao Jiali, a retiree from the local Chinese Medicine Hospital, was illegally given a two-year re-education through forced labor sentence; practitioner Liao Cunying from Shiyang Village was illegally sentenced to one year of forced labor and taken to the Yunnan Women's Forced Labor Camp in Da Banqiao, Kunming City; and practitioner Gu Zonglan was abducted to Dongchuan Mushulong Detention Center on August 4 and held there for 15 days. Practitioner Tang Weiwu was abducted at 9:00 a.m. on September 9 for sending letters to the government on behalf of Falun Gong.
Xie Hongjun, Head and Party Secretary of the Yingkou City National Security Bureau, has actively implemented Jiang regime's vicious persecution policy against Falun Gong since taking office in 2001. Shortly after he assumed office, he conducted research on how to use the secret services' resources to persecute Falun Gong. Over the past several years, his fierce efforts have led to the destruction of four truth clarification material production sites in the Yingkou City area as well as the abduction and imprisonment of many practitioners. Xie also sent policemen to other areas and provinces to locate and abduct practitioners on numerous occasions.
Dong Jiaqiang, head of the "610 Office" in Hengchuan County, Xinyang City, Henan Province, spares no effort to persecute practitioners. At 9:00 p.m. on May 8, 2004, Dong Jiaqiang and his wife saw a practitioner putting up Falun Dafa truth clarification materials on the entrance to the county government building, and they asked two guards to illegally search and beat the practitioner. The next day, he brought several policemen to search the practitioner's home. Later, during this practitioner's illegally detention, Don Jiaqiang prepared reports to take credit and be rewarded for the practitioner's capture. The practitioner was released 34 days later.
Scoundrels from the West Mountain Township of Yi County in Baoding City, Hebei Province, have tortured practitioners. In the first month of the lunar year 2000, several practitioners from Yujia Village were released after being detained for traveling to Beijing to clarify the truth about Falun Dafa to government authorities. That same night, the township government and local police station sent officers to abduct them to the township government building. The head of the local "610 Office," Li Xiaolong, and the office secretary, Peng Guohui, slapped each practitioner on the face more than a dozen times. Other staff members from the "610 Office" forced Xu Zhengping, a female practitioner in her twenties, to kneel on a wooden bench in an upright position for a prolonged time. Another female practitioner, who was abducted in December 1999, was handcuffed to a cable in the backyard and beaten by four employees of the township government.
The policemen of the Taohuayuan Branch of Shandong Province's Feicheng City Police Department in Shandong Province are guilty of criminal conduct towards Falun Dafa practitioners. Policeman Liu Chuantong was once the police chief of the Yiyang Township Police Station in Feicheng City. During his tenure, many practitioners' homes were searched and their Falun Dafa books destroyed. In May 2004, he was transferred and became police chief of the Taohuayuan Branch, where he intensified persecution efforts against practitioners. Policeman Zhang Guoze of the same branch also relentlessly persecuted Dafa practitioners. His vicious acts include beating and cursing at practitioners; searching practitioners' homes; destroying Falun Dafa books, pictures of Teacher, Falun Dafa banners, signs and other materials such as flyers and CDs; assigning policemen to guard practitioners' homes; and stopping passenger buses to abduct practitioners. Another policeman from this branch, Wu Weidong, abducted practitioners with frantic zeal. He also participated in searching practitioners' homes and confiscating Falun Dafa books. He also helped to destroy large quantities of Falun Dafa books and videos. Moreover, he repeatedly abducted practitioners who refused to give up their belief. Many practitioners were fined, detained, sent to labor camps, and brainwashed.
Policeman Wei Guoqing of Mucheng County, Hebei Province, made a fortune persecuting innocent practitioners. Wei Guoqing, originally from Dawei Village in Gucheng County, is now the Deputy Police Chief of the Gucheng County Police Department. Under his direction, large numbers of practitioners were detained and brutally tortured using both Chinese and foreign, ancient and modern methods of torture. Practitioner Liu Quisheng from Qingdong Village was beaten to death. Some practitioners were sent to higher-level prisons so that local policemen could take credit and seek rewards. Furthermore, the families of practitioners who had been forced to renounce the practice or who wrote the "Guarantee Statement" had to pay the police tens of thousands of yuan, with the minimum being several thousand yuan, for their release. In total, the families of the practitioners were extorted of over one million yuan! In one instance, practitioners Zhao Xiurong and Li Lanping of Gucheng Village were abducted from their home by Wei Guoqing and his men, who did not even present police badges or warrants. The two were detained in the County Detention Center for 30 days and forced to write the "Guarantee Statement" after brutal tortures. Wei Guoqing also went to the home of another practitioner, 60-year-old Ms. Liu Huifen three times to abduct her to the Detention Center, where she was held for a month. On July 22, Wei Guoqing abducted practitioner Yu Jinzhong of Dongxu Village, Gucheng County.
