The chiefs Hao Demin and Liu Xiaohong from No. 1 Brigade at Banqiao Female Forced Labor in Tianjin City directed drug addict and prostitute prisoners to force-feed female Falun Gong practitioners with a substance commonly used as an aphrodisiac. The inmates stripped off practitioners' clothes and did degrading things to them. [Falun Gong practitioners cultivate a high moral character and conduct themselves with virtue. These types of abuses are another form of torture which attempt to degrade the values that Falun Gong practitioners live by]

The prostitute prisoners threatened, "We will treat you the same way men treat us" and insulted practitioners. When someone said, "Don't treat them like this. What if there is an accident?" The prostitutes replied, "The chiefs asked us to do it. We are only following orders." Ordered by Hao Demin and Liu Xiaohong, nearly all steadfast practitioners have experienced brutal torture at the Banqiao Female Forced Labor. The persecution continues, and in fact is intensifying.

Mr. Li Xiaoyuan, a 46 year-old Falun Gong practitioner lived in Huanggu District, Shenyang City, Liaoning Province. After Falun Gong was banned on July 22, 1999 in China, he went to Beijing to appeal. He was illegally arrested and in November of the same year, he was sent to Longshan Brainwashing Center (previously Longshan Forced Labor Camp) in Shenyang City. He refused to compromise his beliefs. At the beginning of 2000, he was transferred to Zhangshi Forced Labor Camp in Shenyang for a term of one year of "reeducation" through forced labor. He persisted in his beliefs. At the end of 2001, he was again taken away to be "reeducated" through forced labor, this time for three years. He went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution and later he walked out with his rightous thoughts. Before the 2002 Chinese New Year, he was sent to the Zhangshi Forced Labor Camp. On April 25, 2002, he was tortured with electric batons and violent beatings. His entire body became bloated and he was unable to walk for two weeks. In May, he was transferred to the Guanshan Forced Labor Camp in Changtu County, Liaoning Province. Zhangshi Forced Labor Camp claimed they were to "transform him at another location." On Novmeber 9, 2003, Li Xiaoyuan was tortured to death at the Guanshan Forced Labor Camp.

The 4^th Brigade policemen at Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp in Changchun City, Jilin Province tortured 65 year-old Ms Shi Yazhen with electric batons. On September 15, 2003, Ms. Gu Yan's husband visited her with their daughter. Brigade chief Zhang Guimei lied and cruelly told them that Gu Yan was not willing to see the child. In fact, they do not allow Falun Gong practitioners to see their families and also try to alienate Falun Gong practitioners from their families. On September 26, Ms. Liu Shuqin sustained injuries over her entire body from the electric batons. Ms Geng Liandi was tortured with electric batons until she lost control of her bowels. On December 16, Ms Gu Jinfen was tortured with electric batons on six separate occasions in one day by police.

Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp also forces detainees to work long hours. They rise at 5 a.m. After eating a minimal breakfast, people start to work at 7:20 a.m. and finish at 8 p.m. However in the 4^th Brigade, it is not uncommon to have the workday extended to around 10 p.m. They harvest garlic, bind desk calendars or knit sweaters. During the day the police always force them to work quickly. The glue they use is toxic. Working 13 hour days tires the eyes, decreasing vision and making it difficult to rest. A number of practitioners suffer from hypertension-like symptoms (170~240/ 100~120). Zhang Xianqing's blood pressure did not drop for a few days. He was examined outside of the labor camp. The doctor testified that his blood pressure was high enough that there was a risk of a stroke and death.

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Fu Guixiang is 63 years old. She lives on Beihai Street, Dadong District, Shenyang City, Liaoning Province. She is retired and used to be a 2^nd level police supervisor in No. 3 Jail. In the summer of 2003, she was reported for telling people the facts about Falun Gong. She was followed and illegally arrested by the police. She was given a three-year sentence and is now being detained in Dabei Jail.

Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Yang Chuanjun is being detained at the 4^th prison district of No. 4 Jail in Dalian City, Liaoning Province. He remains on a hunger strike to protest the persecution. His health is declining.

Ms. Zhao Suzhen of Xinxiang County, Henan Province was sentenced to two years of forced labor for appealing in Beijing in 2000. Later, her term was extended eight months. While she was detained, her husband, Zhao Laisui, divorced her. When Zhao Suzhen was posting Falun Gong truth-clarification banners on December 17, 2003, she was arrested with her niece Xiao Li and their home was ransacked. Xiao Li's Falun Gong books were confiscated. Xiao Li was soon released, but Zhao Suzhen is still being detained.

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Xie Xiujin from Zhantou City, Guangdong Province is about 40 years old. On May 20, 2003, she was taken by policemen from Longhu Local Police Station, and her home was ransacked only because she wanted to tell people the true situation of Falun Gong. She was then sent to Yutapu Detention Center. Xie Xiujin was hung and beaten with bamboo clappers by police for a week. As a result, she could not walk. However the police still forced her to do heavy labor. Originally Xie Xiujin moved to Zhantou City for work, so the Longhu Local Police Station also forced her family to move several times, not allowing them to live in the Longhu District.

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhang Fen from Yubei District, Chongqing City, Sichuan Province was illegally seized on the morning of January 2, 2004, when she was clarifying the truth in Beijing. The Beijing police took off her clothes and beat her. Her body was covered with bruises and the authorities extorted more than 8,000 yuan [500 yuan is the monthly wage for a average worker in China]. Zhang Fen was transferred to Shuanglong Local Police Station in Yubei District on January 5. She is now hospitalized at the Yubei District Hospital under the supervision of two policemen. Her family is not allowed to visit and they threatened that she is liable for all the charges and expenses incurred by the police. The home of her relatives in Beijing was also illegally ransacked, and their Falun Gong books were seized.

On January 4, 2004, Falun Gong practitioner Chen Chuanli was abducted by police when he was handing out truth-clarification materials.

Hebei No. 2 Electricity Construction Company employee Mr. Li Hongyi was once illegally detained at his workplace for more than four months, because he refused to renounce his beliefs. When he was released, his mind was unclear for a time, and he could not even find his way home. Later, Li Hongyi declared to his company official that the so called "guarantee statement" he wrote under duress was against his will and to be considered void. He said he insists on freedom of belief and firmly practicing the principles of "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance." Not long after that, on January 2, 2004, his company officials tricked Li Hongyi into the notorious Hebei provincial capital brainwashing center (the so called "Hebei Provincial Legal System Education and Training Center".)

It is reported that the authorities in Wuji County, Hebei Province have arrested more than 30 Falun Gong practitioners from October 2003 to the present. The authorities hold brainwashing sessions at a military installation, and threatened to "reeducate" practitioners through forced labor if they do not "transform", and won't release them if they do not write "four statements". Three Falun Gong practitioners have been forcibly "transformed". Zhao Genshuan was sentenced to one year, Yin Zhizhang for two years, Zhang Yonghui for over three years.

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Gan Lihua is a 67 year-old employee at the Construction Mechanism Factory in Wuchang City, Hubei Province. It was reported on December 13, 2003, that she was handing out truth-clarification materials at Fruit Lake at night. She was arrested by the Fruit Lake No. 1 Local Police Station, and then transferred to No. 2 Local Police Station. The No. 2 station sent her to theYangyuan Brainwashing Center. Her current situation is unclear.

1. Mr. Wang Jinguo is a high school teacher in Nongfeng Village and received teaching excellence awards on numerous occasions. Wang Jinguo has died as a result of the persecution. There are also two local practitioners that have been forced to leave home to avoid further persecution.

(2) Eight Falun Gong practitioners were abducted by police in a big raid in April 2002.

On December 15, 2003, a Falun Gong practitioner from Dongmaquan Town, Wuqing District, Tianjin City was taken away by the local police station for handing out truth-clarification material, and later sent to Wuqing District Detention Center. This practitioner revealed another practitioner's name and this person was also taken to the detention center at the same time. Another practitioner was arrested by police while mailing truth-clarification materials. Meanwhile, police seized another two practitioners at a fair and sent them to Wuqing District Detention Center. One practitioner advised them not to do wrong but those policemen did not listen, but also went to her home and confiscated all Falun Gong books. One of the policemen even used a cigarette to burn Teacher's eyes on a picture, and said he won't let practitioners go home for Chinese new year. (The Chinese new year in 2004 is January 22^nd.)

Among the six detained Falun Gong practitioners, one wrote a "guarantee statement" and was released. The other five practitioners (Ms. Li Yingqi and Ms. Li Baolan from Douzhuang Township, Ms. Qin Guiling, Ms. Tian Lanting and Ms. Chai Xiufen from Dongmaquan Town) are still detained in Wuqing District Detention Center, Yang Village.

The spouse of an employee at a company in Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province was sentenced for practising Falun Gong. The company applied for a subsidy for its employee in consideration of the hardship. The subsidy is about a few hundred yuan a month [500 yuan is the monthly wage for a average worker in China]. However, it was cancelled by Daqing Institution Working Committee. The reason cited was that family members of Falun Gong practitioners were not eligible. At the same time, this is also in line with Jiang's policy to "ruin their (the practitioners') reputations, bankrupt them financially and destroy them physically."

Falun Gong practitioner Cao Xiaohua from Luyuan District, Changchun City, Jilin Province was sentenced to 2 years of forced labor in March 2001, and is now detained in Jiutai Forced Labor Camp. Because Cao Xiaohua is a steadfast practitioner of Falun Gong and refuses to write "five statements", the detention term was illegally extended for nearly six months. The extended term was up in September 2003. However, Jilin Province "610 Office" directly sent Cao Xiaohua from Jiutai Forced Labor Camp to Xinglongshan Brainwashing Center in Changchun City, and tried to forcibly brainwash Cao. This brainwashing center also transferred collaborators [Former Falun Gong practitioners who have renounced their belief due to severe pressure and torture and now actively participate in the persecution against their fellow Falun Gong practitioners] and policemen from Hubei and Hunan Provinces and tried to tell Cao vicious lies. However, four months of brainwashing could not change Cao Xiaohua's firm heart. Because Cao did not renounce the belief, another sentence was waiting.. Recently more than 30 Falun Gong practitioners have been taken to the Xinglongshan Brainwashing Center. Some practitioners were deceived into going to the brainwashing center from work. Currently there are 2 or 3 practitioners including Cao Xiaohua suffering in the brainwashing center.

17. [Longjing City, Jilin Province] Mr. Jin Junjie is on a Hunger Strike in Jiutai Forced Labor Camp

Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Jin Junjie from Longjing City, Jilin Province is being detained in the Jiutai Forced Labor Camp. His term was up in November 2003, but because he was steadfast in his belief in Falun Gong, his term was illegally extended. Jin Junjie is on a hunger strike that has lasted 50 days, in order to protest his unreasonable detention.

Ms. Zhao Wenlan is a 63 year old resident of Minle Street, Zhangbei County in Hebei Province. On August 13, 2003, she was visiting her neighbors. Zhangjiakou City Qiaodong Public Security Sub-bureau Director Yan Zhiyou and Vice Director Ma Fuwei instructed policemen from the 3^rd squadron in Qiaodong Public Security Sub-bureau and the political security section in Zhangbei County Public Security Bureau to arrest Zhao Wenlan. She was interrogated and tortured in the Qiaodong Public Security Sub-bureau, and later detained in Zhangjiakou City Shisanli Detention Center. She is now emaciated as a result of the torture she received.

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wei Xiuying is a retired employee of Hebei Province Zhuozhou City Petroleum Prospecting Bureau East Geophysics Company. Zhuozhou City authorities offered a 30,000 yuan [500 yuan is the monthly wage for an average worker in China] reward for her capture. Around December 20, 2003, Wang Zhi from the Public Relations Department in the Prospecting Bureau colluded with security guards and the residents' committee to seize her after telling her lies. Her whereabouts are currently unknown.

About 7p.m. on January 5, 2004, Ms. He Shue from Shenyang City, Liaoning Province was arrested by policemen from Dabei Local Police Station, when she was making truth-clarification materials near Donghang Furniture City in Dadong District. Her home was searched around 9 p.m. on the same night.

Ms. Wang Xiulan and Mr. Feng Wansheng are a couple and employees of Baihe Forestry Bureau in Erdao District, Yanji City, Jilin Province. On the night of January 6, 2004, while they were handing out truth-clarification materials at White River, they were arrested by the police who staked out the area trying to capture practitioners.

Mr. He Jianren is a former employee of Shaoguan City Steel Group Company in Guangdong Province. He went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong in 1999. Under the pressure of the "610 Office", his workplace illegally terminated his work contract. Afterwards, he was arrested five times and detained for nearly 100 days in total, because he continued to appeal and practice Falun Gong. He was brutally tortured by the police at the Beijing Public Security Bureau for appealing. In June 2000, he was illegally sentenced to two years in a forced labor camp. In the forced labor camp, he was tortured. As a result, he often had stomachaches, blood in his urine and spit up blood. When his term was up in 2002, he was sent to Huanggang Brainwashing Center in Shaoguan City. One month later, he had a stomachache and was sent to a hospital. It was discovered he had internal bleeding from his stomach, liver and kidneys. However the clerk from the "610 Office" Shi Changhai asked the doctor to cover it up; to say he only had a gastric ulcer or gastritis. He Jianren is still is living away from home to avoid further persecution and is unable to work.

Mr. Zeng Liuming was a high school teacher in Jiaotian Village, Shangyi Town, Zijin County. He is very steadfast in Falun Gong and has suffered various torure for more than three years while detained in the Shanshui Forced Labor Camp. In April 2001, he was forced to stand in military-style posture all day until 9 p.m., then he was required to undergo brainwashing sessions from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. He asked police officer Zhang Qingmei if the authorities goal was to torture people to death. Zhang Qingmei replied, "So what if you die? We simply send a report saying you died from an illness." On June 2, 2003, he was transferred from the No. 4 division to the brainwashing center. To frighten him and pressure him to renounce his belief, the authorities detained him at the No. 208 execution ground where death sentences are carried out. Six guards took turns monitoring him and he was not allowed to sleep or close his eyes. After ten days and nights of sleep deprivation and torture, the police then locked him in a dim room where they doused him with water and then tortured him with electric batons. Six to eight electric batons were used daily and charged in the morning and afternoon for over two hours each time. After the torture, they still did not allow him to sleep. This electric shocking lasted 17 continous days. On December 5, his three year sentence was up, but the police refused to release him because he was still firm in practicing Falun Gong. His situation is now critical.

Ms. Li Ziling is a Falun Gong practitioner from North Shicao Township, Hejian City, Hebei Province. On the night of September 12, 2003, she was arrested by the police from Liugusi Township Local Police Station when she was handing out truth-clarification materials, and immediately sent to Hejian Detention Center. On the morning of the second day, North Shicao Township local police jumped over the wall of her residence to confiscate her family's property. Around the 19^th of October she was taken to Tangshan Forced Labor Camp.

It is said that three or four Falun Gong practitioners were taken to Tangshan Forced Labor Camp around October 19.

About 8 p.m. on November 31, 2003, the head of Desheng Local Police Station Xu Changfa in Dalian City, Liaoning Province led more than 20 policemen surrounding Xu Yongmei's home. They broke in and forcibly took Xu Yongmei, and illegally detained her in Jinzhou Jail. She is not allowed to see her family.
