Learning To Appreciate Each Grain Of Rice And Drop Of Water By a Falun Dafa practitioner in New Zealand
August 5, 2003 (Clearwisdom.net) On the afternoon of July 20, 2003, another practitioner and I had some left
over bread and water from our lunch. When we tried to enter the conference, the
doorkeepers indicated that we could not bring food or drink into the conference
room, so we had little choice but leave it in the front corner of the conference
room. After the conference, we hurried there to pick up our food, but instead we
found a trash box. Inside the box were a lot of empty bottles and on top of them
were three sandwich packs and a marinated egg. The food looked like it was in
good condition and it looked like it had been thrown away and not just
temporarily put there. I took out the three sandwiches and the marinated egg and
shared it with another practitioner. Except for some dried out vegetables, the
meat and bread smelled fine. I remembered that a practitioner told me a real story: During the Singapore
Fa conference in August 1998, some practitioners went to a restaurant for lunch.
Right before they finished their lunch and planned to leave, Teacher walked by
from another table. He asked if everyone had finished eating and everyone
answered that they were all finished and full. Teacher then sat down without
saying another word, and started to eat the leftover food. Some practitioners
suddenly realized what was going on and finished all the leftovers. During the Washington D.C. Fa conference, there were some incidents that let
me look inside myself repeatedly. After the parade on July 21, everyone was
sweating and Washington DC practitioners prepared a lot of free spring water
near by the congress compound's open area for everyone to drink That provided
timely relief. But when other practitioners and I cleaned out the area, we found
that a lot of the bottles were still one-third or one-quarter full. We hope every practitioner can act as if "he is full of great
aspirations while minding minor details" (Essentials For Further
Advancement). Please be appreciative of each grain of rice and drop of
water. Posting date: 8/15/2003 |
