Dafa practitioner Ms. Diao Jing, 47 years old, was an employee of Changchun City's Railway Station. She was at various times detained for insisting on practicing Falun Gong. During the Spring Festival in February 2003, someone kidnapped her from home and detained her in a pub near the railway station. The temperature during Northeastern China's winters is very low, yet she was forced from her home wearing a thin shirt and pants. In order to escape further abuse, she jumped from the third floor when the policeman was away, but unfortunately broke her ribs. She managed to escape by begging a taxi driver to give her a ride. While recovering from the injuries at her relative's home, the authorities from the police station and her work unit found her and frequently harassed her. Despite her injuries, personnel from her work unit forced her to go to work. Her family members were very angry at this. Under such torture in her physical condition, Ms. Diao Jing died one month later.

Ms. Chu Zhongping, 40 years old, was a Dafa practitioner from Suizhou City. After July 20, 1999, she and other Dafa practitioners went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. She was later taken back by the authorities, then put into Suizhou City's No.2 Detention Center and had money extorted from her.

On January 2, 2001, policemen from Shuanghe Town's Police Station arrested her while she was distributing truth-clarifying material, and again put her into Suizhou City's No.2 Detention Center. Later on, she was transferred to the No.1 Detention Center. In order to humiliate her publicly, the authorities broadcast her on TV showing her with arms and legs bound tightly, and being denounced in front of a meeting of 10,000 people. She was also sentenced to 1.5 years forced labor to work at the Shayang Farm. When she was sent to the forced labor camp, the authorities there refused to accept her due to her high blood pressure and edema all over her body. So she was sent to the No.1 Detention Center and was later transferred to the No.2 Detention Center's Brainwashing Class. Dafa practitioners resisted the evil persecution in this brainwashing class. They collectively staged a hunger strike. All of them walked out of the brainwashing class together with the power of their righteous thoughts. Chu Zhongping was detained for eight months.

Even after she returned home, she was harassed at home whenever there was a festival or holiday, or so-called "sensitive dates." She was followed and monitored over a long period of time. Even her family members and relatives suffered threats from the authorities. Under such great mental pressure, she died on August 30, 2003.

Police destroyed a Dafa materials production site, arrested Dafa practitioners including Liu Hui, Li Shuming and some other practitioners, and ransacked their homes. As the practitioners responsible for sending information on the Internet were not careful in destroying the materials in a timely manner, police confiscated several hundreds of solemn declarations written by practitioners, to show their determination to return to Dafa cultivation. Some Dafa practitioners have already been arrested because of this.

It's said that the major accomplices -- Baoding City's mayor, municipal committee secretary and police department director - were planning to sentence Liu Hui, Li Shuming and other related practitioners to a forced labor on December 4, 2003. Baoding City authorities held a meeting in the Zhongyin Building, where they conspired to arrest Dafa practitioners on a list of names.

Police arrested several Dafa practitioners from Guangxi Province, and the books I gave the practitioners were also confiscated. Prior to the Spring Festival of 2000, I went to the county's police station to get my books back. An official said, "The books you gave them harmed them." I said, "We are good people. You should read our book! The book teaches us to be good people." The official said, "I won't read it. If you all become good people, we will lose our jobs."

Mr. Meng Lingshun, 35 years old, is a resident of No. 5 Team in Gaotaizi Village, Dafangshen Town, Dehui City. He started to practice Falun Gong in 1997. After July 20, 1999, he was put into Dehui City's Detention Center to be subjected to inhumane torture. Because of that, a healthy person thus suffered a mental collpase.

During the night of November 27, 2003, officers from Changchun City's Police Department arrested practitioner Mr. Zhang Chenggui, his wife Ms. Li Shuhua and his son Mr. Zhang Jizhong at home. On the morning of November 28, police arrested practitioner Ms. Yu Yongjuan from her home. Currently, Mr. Zhang and his son are released but the police are waiting in Zhang's home in an attempt to arrest other practitioners who have contact with Zhang's family.

Practitioner Ms. Xue Zhaohui, 35 years old, from Fujian Province, is a doctor at Quanzhou City's People Hospital of Fujian Province. Because she appealed on behalf of Falun Gong in Beijing in 1999, she was detained in a forced labor camp for one year. She left home in 2001 to avoid additional persecution after her release. In November 2001, because she had gone to Beijing for the second time to appeal peacefully for Falun Gong, the authorities sentenced her to two years of forced labor at Fujian Province's Female Labor Camp where she was cruelly tortured. She was deprived of sleep for a long time; guards slammed her head against the wall. The perpetrators were afraid of their crimes being exposed, so they have not allowed Xue's family to visit her since her arrest. Now the two years' detention term given to her has expired and Xue is still being unlawfully detained.

Mr. Ren Bingxian (pseudonym is Xinhui), is a practitioner from Beiyingfeng Village in Zhang'erzhuang Township/Wei County/Hebei Province. In 2001 he was forced to leave and became a homeless person to avoid the persecution. Someone followed him on October 17, 2003, in Puyang City/ Henan Province to his rented apartment. The enforcers took him against his will to Puyang City's Police Department. When he was arrested he spoke loudly, "Falun Dafa is Good." He was sent to Wei County's Detention Center afterward and was put in handcuffs and shackles.

Ren Bingxian's wife is now still living in exile.

Ren Bingxian's sister, Ren Xizhi, 38 years old, is also a practitioner from Dayantun Village/Zhang'erzhuang Township/Wei County. Someone deceived and arrested her on September 25, 2003. They transported her to Wei County's Detention center, as a hostage for Ren Bingxian. She is still being detained.

At the beginning of July 2003, police from Xiayi County/Henan Province conducted a large-scale raid, capturing Dafa practitioners. In the Humenlou and Gao Villages, dozens of practitioners were arrested. The police attempted to forcibly brainwash practitioners and extorted money from them. They threatened practitioners that if they did not hand over the amount of requested money, they would be sentenced to forced labor or imprisonment. To avoid harm coming to their family members, practitioners' relatives borrowed money everywhere to pay the extorted fee, but the police did not even give them a receipt. When some families asked for receipts, the police said if they are asking for receipts, they have to pay another 1,000 Yuan. One practitioner's family was forced to borrow 12,000 Yuan [500 Yuan is the monthly income in urban areas of China] to get a family member released from custody.

In February 2003, Mengzhou County's "610 Office"* arrested Ms. Geng Juying, a practitioner from Mengzhou County/Jiaozuo City/Henan Province. Geng is detained at Henan Province's No. 1 Labor Camp/Division No. 3, located at Zhengzhou City, which is also called the Shibalihe Labor Camp or the Mulan Embroidery Manufacture. Police head Ren Yuanfang of the team once isolated her from others for several days in an attempt to force her to renounce her belief, but he failed. He forced her to do hard manual labor and assigned two collaborators [former practitioners who have gone astray due to severe pressure or torture and now aid the authorities to persecute Falun Dafa practitioners] to monitor her around the clock. Ms. Geng was prohibited from talking with other practitioners.

On April 22, 2003, the No. 3 Division escalated the torture and forced practitioners to wear strait jackets.** We have no recent information about Ms. Geng.

*The "610 Office" is an agency specifically established to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems.

**Strait jackets: Used for torture. The arms slipped into jacket, are wrapped around the front of the body and tied behind. The legs are tied together, and then they hang the tied hands from metal bars. Both arms of the victim are immediately injured. The tendons of the shoulders, elbows, and wrists are torn and the bones are fractured. When the torture is prolonged, the spinal cord is severed and the result is an extremely painful death.

Dafa practitioner Ms. Xiong Xiulian is an excellent teacher from Huangzhou City's Baota Primary School in Huangzhou City/Hubei Province. On November 25, 2003, Xiong Xiulian was secretly taken to the provincial brainwashing class by enforcers from the local "610 Office." Furthermore, the "610 Office" also forced the primary school to hand over 6,000 Yuan

Zhang Li, an official of the Security Section for China Xinhua Airlines, is in charge of the political investigation of applicants and employees. What he investigates includes whether the employee, the applicant or their families practice Falun Gong. If yes, the application is rejected.

1. Dafa practitioner Mr. Zhou Wenxuan was forcibly taken away without notifying his family members of his detention. Zhou Wenxuan was illegally sent to a forced labor camp for 1-1/2 years. During the detention, lawless policemen savagely beat him and Zhou was injured so severely that his head required 13 stitches. In order to protest the persecution, Zhou Wenxuan has been on a hunger strike for over one month and was extremely weak. Now Zhou Wenxuan has been sent to Changsha City's Xinkaipu Forced Labor Camp for further persecution.

2. Ms. Yang Shanchun - police illegally arrested her when she was taking care of her grandson in Guangdong Province. She was sentenced to one year of forced labor and now is detained at Zhuzhou City's Baimalong Forced Labor Camp in Hunan Province.

3. Cai Jimin was put into a detention center for over a month and was given a year of forced labor sentence to be incarcerated at Changsha City's Forced Labor Camp.

4. Li Wenxiang was sentenced to three years of imprisonment because of remaining firm in his belief in Falun Dafa and refusing to cooperate with the evildoers' requirements to write the "Guarantee Statement."[Guarantee not to practice Falun Gong any more, no longer associate with other Falun Gong practitioners and to guarantee not to go to Beijing to appeal.]

5. Ms. Bagu has been sentenced to one year of forced labor.

Because of the persecution, Dafa practitioner Zhao Shuzhuang, Zhang Dongyun, Zhou Xin and Pan Hai'e from Yongzhou City/Hunan Province have been living a homeless life. Lawless policemen are on the lookout for them.

Dafa practitioner Ms. Zhang Huishu, from the Wafangdian District/Dalian City/Liaoning Province was illegally arrested recently and detained at Dalian City's Police Department Detention Center.

On October 28, 2003, Dafa practitioner Ms. Yang Guiping, from Jingmen City/Hubei Province, was betrayed and arrested by lawless policemen of the city's Dongbao Police Precinct. Now she is being detained at Jingmen City's No.1 Detention Center.

Other Dafa practitioners detained at the No.1 Detention Center include Yang Peizhan, Yang Peiyou, Wang Jinyu, Wang Shouyu and Chen Qiji. The oldest among them is 69 years old. Eight out of the nine Dafa practitioners there have been detained for over five months.
