2 yuan is the unit of Chinese currency. The monthly salary for an average Chinese urban worker is about 500 yuan.

(Clearwisdom.net) Jiamusi Labor Camp in Heilongjiang Province has adopted various inhuman means to torture detained Dafa practitioners. It is known that one practitioner has been beaten to death in the camp, two practitioners have died because of pressure and persecution, and eight other practitioners died at home after they were taken back home due to being physically ill after severe torture. In total, this labor camp is responsible for the deaths of 11 practitioners. Many other practitioners were beaten until they were injured or disabled. All practitioners detained there have suffered severe torment.

Ways of tormenting practitioners in the camp include:

1. Spreading lies about Falun Gong
2. Forcing them to sit on a small stool (made of enamel insulated wire) or on a metal chair ("tiger bench")
3. Forbidding them to close their eyes during the daytime or to sit in meditation or with crossed legs in lotus position
4. Scheduling classes at night, forbidding practitioners to sleep at night
5. Inducing criminals to beat Dafa practitioners
6. Opening windows in the coldest weather to freeze Dafa practitioners
7. Shocking practitioners with electric batons
8. Forbidding them to go to the washroom
9. Forcing them to work long hours
10. Force-feeding
11. Locking practitioners into small cells
12. Extending detention time

Example 1:

Dafa practitioners are forced to sit on a small stool from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m., where they are exposed to deceptive police propaganda. If they talk or close their eyes, they are in violation of prison regulations. While the policemen feed them lies, practitioners are forbidden to go to the washroom.

Hui Yuexin, 23 years old, has been left with congenital brain damage and is unable to move her limbs. She closed her eyes to take a rest and as punishment she was placed in solitary confinement. Policemen Li Yufang and Zhang Yi beat her violently and kicked her head. When they became tired they instigated criminals Wang Hongwei, Wang He, Yu Haiyang and others to beat Hui Yuexin. Hui lost consciousness and went into shock. When she regained consciousness, they placed her on a small stool, not allowing her to move. Because of a malformation of her legs, she was not able to sit on the small stool. Although the police knew that she was unable to sit, they would still not let her go. They handcuffed Hui to the "tiger bench," until she lost consciousness. As a result of torture, Hui has been lying in bed for three months because she was unable to take care of herself.

When Li Jingfeng was saying some words that the authorities did not like, his words were overheard by a criminal, Du Fengjun who reported the words to Diao Yukun. Yang Jiantao, the squadron commander, commanded Du to handcuff Li Jingfeng behind the back to the bed and to make him sit on a small stool, forbidding him to sleep for 11 days. He was beaten when he closed his eyes, causing many bumps and bruises all over his body and causing him to have a heart attack. A doctor rescued him and put him on a bed. Policeman Wang Kai claimed that Li Jingfeng only pretended to pass out, and burned the back of Li's hand using hot water, causing a big blister. When he saw that Li still would not awake up, he pressed a cigarette lighter against Li's Renzhong acupuncture point (slightly above the upper lip). After that, Li regained consciousness. When Li reported this torture to Brigade Chief Liu Hongguang later, Liu refused to deal with the issue. Li Jingfeng suffered similar tortures many times, which should have resulted in his being admitted to the hospital, but the police did not allow it.

Example 2:

Dafa practitioners in solitary confinement were forced to sit on a small stool. The stools are made of enamel-insulated wire with a rough surface. In the summer, practitioners wear only a single layer of clothes and their flesh becomes stuck to their pants. They are forbidden to move, while four criminals take turns watching them 24 hours a day. In another torture, the whole body is sandwiched between two floor bricks. Sometimes the hands are cuffed behind their backs to the ground or to the leg of a bed. They are forbidden to sleep or close their eyes. Their skin soon starts to bleed and their flesh is constantly rubbed raw. Police order four or five criminal prisoners to carry practitioners and place them on the stool, pressing them down. If practitioners do not cooperate they are punched and kicked until their bodies are bruised and swollen. Brigade chief Liu Hongguang, who oversaw this treatment, approved of the results.

Example 3:

Policemen Liu Hongguang, Yang Jianqing (squadron commander), Guo Gang, Diao Yukun, Li Yufang, Zhang Yijun, and Wang Kaili promised criminal inmates reduced prison terms, in return for their cooperation in tormenting practitioners. As a result, they handcuff practitioners to the ground or to 'tiger benches' and beat them, wearing boxing gloves. They bang them against the wall, use their heels to kick practitioners, stuff socks and cleaning rags into their mouths, force-feed them urine, beat them with planks, deprive them of sleep, or burn their ears. The policy of the labor camp is "Educate and persuade a person. If this does not work, then persecute him. And if it still has no effect, then cremate him." Encouraged by the police, the criminals unscrupulously torture practitioners without restraint. They force practitioners to work long hours, do not allow for breaks at noon, force them to work from 4 a.m. to midnight, and do not allow them to close their eyes during the daytime.

Li Jichang, is a 60 year old practitioner who closed his eyes because he was tired, which was violating the "rules." So he was cuffed to a "tiger bench" for 5 days and nights, and not allowed to sleep. Whenever he closed his eyes the guards would shock him with an electric baton, causing him to become ill. He has since been confined to bed.

Practitioners Shao Dianyin, Qi Shuangyuan, Shang Xiping and Wei Jinqiang demanded to see the supervisor to explain the situation. However, Liu Hongguang falsely accused them of violating jail discipline, and put them into a small cell. Shang Xiping still insisted to see the supervisor, refusing to be handcuffed. As a result, he was forced to the ground by seven or eight policemen and kicked. He was handcuffed for five days and nights, and deprived of sleep. Shao Dianyin refused to be handcuffed and was therefore strapped to the tiger bench. Liu Hongguang, Li Yufang and Zhang Zhenhua ordered the criminal prisoners Liang Quangui and Du Hongjun to wake up Shao and to gag and beat him until they broke his ribs. Even with such serious injuries, Shao is still being detained in jail. Qi Shuangyuan refused to cooperate and was handcuffed to the bench, which caused him to develop hypertension and heart disease. He was forbidden to sleep for five days and nights. Yang Jiantao told the criminal prisoner Qiu Hongbin, "If you let him go to sleep, I will punish you." Wei Jinqiang should have been released after he finished serving his term. However, he was handcuffed and his release was delayed by seven days.

Example 4:

Right before the 16^th Party Congress, the Jiamusi Labor camp started a new cycle of hate campaigns. They chose to attack individual practitioners. Everyday, the passageway is filled with the sound of electric shocks. One Practitioner, named Yu Lei was shocked for two hours by two criminals Du Fengjun and Wang Hongwei. One month later, his face and cheeks were still raw from the wounds. According one criminal prisoner's recollection, one 18-year-old criminal, named Wang Qiang, became so frightened by witnessing such inhumane acts that he went insane, and ran away whenever he saw anyone.

Practitioner Yu Panyou resisted the persecution and was handcuffed to the "dead man's bed" for 22 days. The flesh of his buttocks became stuck to his pants. He was beaten and had his money extorted from him.

Hou Zhiqiang, who refused to cooperate, was kicked in the ribs until they were broken. He was handcuffed to a bed. He was beaten by Wang Hongwei many times. The police not only ignored the torture, but also reduced the prison terms for the criminals who were responsible for it.

Mr. Cheng Xueshan is 63 years old and from Tongjiang. Mr. Sui Tianlong, is from Fuyuan. They were detained for six months without any legal procedure. Cheng's health became very poor due to the long duration of his mistreatment. He could no longer eat, as he vomited if he tried. The police claimed that he was on a hunger strike and placed him into a small cell. It was winter, and his two hands were handcuffed to a ring in the cold cement ground where he sat for one week, causing kidney failure. All feeling in his hands was lost. Sui Tianlong was detained for eight months without any legal procedure. He was not released until he had not been able to eat for six days.

Ms. Guo Yuzhu reported this situation to the brigade chief. Liu Hongguang ordered Guo Gang to "transform" her by forcing her to sit on a stool and then the tiger bench for 60 days. He was force fed for 29 days, strapped to the "dead man's bed" for 20 days. Liu Hongguang told Guo Yuzhu, "I don't believe that I won't be able to deal with you. If you will not be transformed, I will torture you to death before you can go home." Guo was beaten by criminals many times.

They have intimidated practitioners, extended their terms, and beaten and isolated them. In order to prevent practitioners from crying out, the perpetrators gag them. Their sentences were extended and they were forced to sit on a stool from 3 a.m. to midnight. They were not allowed to sleep, wash, and use the bathroom or to move. Once, someone was forced to sit on a stool for three months. Isolated practitioners had to sit on metal benches in freezing weather with only thin clothes on, and the windows open. If they started to slouch just a little, someone would pour cold water on them.

Practitioners who try to protest against the mistreatment by going on a hunger strike, are brutally force-fed. Their tormentors twist the feeding tube around, claiming it is necessary for treatment. Four to five policemen hold down the practitioners while another one inserts the tube. They even laughed at the distress of the practitioners, which shows that they have completely lost their humanity.

Example 5:

Mr. Zhang Changming, 50 years old, was sentenced to labor camp in December 1999. In November 2000, he managed to escape. In November 2001, he was again captured and brought back. On April 20, 2003 he was tormented to the brink of mental collapse. He was not only denied hospital treatment, but his captors also ordered criminals to beat him, and bound him for over 20 days. He was confined in a small cell twice and handcuffed to the ground, having to sit on the cold ground, without food. During the Spring Festival he was still detained in the small cell. On the eve of Chinese New Year someone poured his food on the ground. He was beaten and burned with cigarettes causing swollen wounds all over his body as well as brain inflammation (he had a history of high blood pressure and heart attack). In only 20 days, he was tortured to death.

Mr. Jia Yongfa, 37 years old, was sentenced to one year in jail on November 3, 1999. When his term was up, police still did not release him. Jia escaped, was re-captured and had his term extended by one year. In order to protest his unjust treatment, Jia went on a hunger strike and was brutally force-fed. His esophageal tract and lung were damage during this treatment and he died after being carried home.

Mr. Zheng Libin was detained in Tuanhe Labor Camp for two years and was released on April 17, 2003, after his term expired. Jiamusi Xiangyang Police Branch deceived him into going to Jiamusi Labor Camp claiming they simply needed him to complete some paper work there. The director of managing office, Xu Hengji, detained him without any reason. Liu Hongguang placed him into a small cell and ordered two criminal prisoners to watch him. Zheng was handcuffed to the bed for three months. He went on a hunger strike to protest his unjust treatment and requested to be allowed to appeal to procurator Wang Hongming. However, Wang did not pay attention to the appeal. The long term handcuffing caused Zheng Libin's spinal column to become deformed. He was released on August 7. His belongings were cut to shreds by police and two criminal prisoners, Yu Haiyang and Qiu Hongbin.

Example 6:

Qin Zhengyong was strapped to the tiger bench, and was beaten, electro-shocked, and kicked by four to five criminals. Qin was covered with wounds and he had to stay in bed for one month as a result of the torture.

Liu Yanchang was tormented by criminals Wang Hongwei, Du Hongjun, Yu Haiyang, Liang Jingui and Li Wenbo. He was forbidden to go to the washroom and was forced to sit upright on a stool. He fell unconscious frequently, his eyes could not focus, and his head was injured. The guards showed no concern about his condition at all.

Each squad, class and individual cell has a strict electrical monitoring system. Everyone's behavior is under constant surveillance. When criminals beat practitioners, the guards do not stop them, but secretly encourage such behavior. Each month, the terms of criminals who beat practitioners are reduced. Each "transformation class" includes two criminal prisoners who monitor the proceedings. Dafa practitioners are forbidden to talk to each other and all news is blocked. Practitioners who are not convinced to give up the practice, are forbidden to see their family members. Many of the torture methods and hard labor are arranged by Liu Hongguang, the brigade chief. Whenever the city or province leaders came to inspect the labor camp, Liu temporarily has the handcuffs of the practitioners undone and dismisses them from hard labor. He forbade practitioners to contact the visiting leaders and he deceives his supervisors as well as his subordinates. When TV reporters came for an interview, he arranged several "transformed" practitioners to recite the approved party line. Those practitioners who are steadfast in their beliefs are not allowed any contact with the outside either by phone calls, letters, TV or visits with family members. People on the outside have no way of knowing what goes on inside the camp. Liu Hongguang is cruel and despotic; those guards who are not in accordance with his ideas are transferred. Those who treat practitioners cruelly are promoted. In particular, Guo Gang, Yang Chunlong, Diao Yukun, Zhang Yijun are his henchmen. Criminal prisoners who leak news from the outside to practitioners are punished, but criminal prisoners who beat practitioners cruelly have their terms reduced. Such individuals have totally lost their human nature and conscience. It is impossible to know how many practitioners they have injured and killed because the news is blocked. We hope that our fellow practitioners and other people who know the inside stories will write them down and publicize them. This is necessary to disclose the evil means, to suppress the evil and to decrease the persecution of human beings and Dafa disciples.

(Clearwisdom.net) In the market of Datun Town, Haicheng City, Liaoning Province, a fellow practitioner was distributing truth-clarifying materials.

When she passed the materials to a middle-aged man, the man held back the practitioner and asked: "Do you know what I am doing?"

The practitioner replied: "What are you doing?"

The man said: "I am a policeman!"

"Do you know who I am? I am a Falun Dafa practitioner!"

The policeman said: "Then, why did you give this to me?"

The practitioner replied with a smile: "It is you I wanted to give this to."

"Why?" he asked.

The practitioner said: "Think about it! Policemen are supposed to uphold righteousness. We are righteous but were framed. I want to clarify the truth with this pamphlet. If I didn't give it to you, you won't know the truth. How could you uphold righteousness?" The practitioner continued to tell the policeman the truth about the self-immolation on Tiananmen Square. The policeman blushed and said nothing.

Before he left, he said cordially: "Thank you, be careful....."

(Clearwisdom.net) I was quite moved after reading the story "Taking Credit for the Accomplishments of the Gods" on a website today. The story took place during the "Spring and Autumn Period" (722-481 BC) in China and was about King Jinwengong.

After many years of having to wander in destitute exile, Jinwengong finally returned to his homeland and became the ruler of his country. To express his gratitude to all the people who had assisted him during his exile, he gave rewards to people according to three different criteria: the first category was for the people who had accompanied him during the exile; the second category was for the people who had assisted him in other ways; and the third category was for the people who had welcomed him back to his country. King Jinwengong also issued an imperial order, "Whoever hasn't been recognized for helping me, please come forward and let me know."

Jiezitui was the one person being forgotten. During his exile, King Jinwengong often ate whatever was offered to him. Once, Jiezitui cut a piece of flesh from his own leg to make a soup for King Jinwengong to eat. As Jiezitui was making a living by weaving straw shoes when the announcement was made, his neighbor told him to step forward to get the reward. Jiezitui told them, "The former King Jinxiangong has nine sons, and my master, King Jinwengong, is the most capable and virtuous of them. It is God's will that the Jin Dynasty belongs to my King; yet, some people have mistakenly thought it was their doing." He also told them: "Stealing other's property is being a thief; to take credit for returning our King is like claiming credit for the accomplishments of the Gods. It's even more shameful. I'd rather be weaving straw shoes for the rest of my life than to claim the credit." Later, he and his mother went to live in seclusion in the mountains.

Jiezitui would rather weave straw shoes for a living than claim credit for the accomplishments of the Gods. His moral integrity and willingness to live in poverty contently is worthy of our respect; his respect for God's will and accepting one's destiny was most extraordinary. As Falun Dafa practitioners, we understand from the Fa that "cultivation is up to you, gong is up to the master." Whatever we gain during our cultivation is from the Fa and Teacher's immense compassion. As practitioners during the Fa-Rectification period, we participate in many different kinds of projects. When some projects are very successful, some practitioners show self-contentment and joy. Actually, all of what happened is just like "cultivation is up to you, gong is up to the master." When xinxing reaches a certain level, a project will be successful by itself. Yet, behind all these, Teacher has done so much for us, and we have no way of knowing.

We should always be full of gratitude for our Teacher and never take credit for the accomplishments of the Gods.

(Clearwisdom.net) Since July 20, 1999, when local practitioners validated Dafa, practitioners have been periodically persecuted by the evil. Most of them were arrested for making or distributing truth clarification materials. This indicates that we still have omissions in validating Dafa, such as unknowingly adding in some everyday people's attachments. Through experience sharing we discovered that when local practitioners did Dafa validation work, there were several types of human attachments commonly displayed:

1. The heart of hatred. Facing the overwhelming framing and defamation by the vicious political group of scoundrels, seeing Dafa and Master attacked by slander and practitioners suffering from inhumane torture, some practitioners instinctively developed anger and indignation against the persecutors. This strong emotion would often be unwittingly mixed into their Fa validation work.

2. The heart of just doing work. This type of mentality often showed up in those fellow practitioners who did Dafa work very actively. Sometimes in order to hurry up making truth clarification materials, if it were not finished or distributed on time, practitioners felt worried and tried to rush to finish it, ignoring Fa study and cultivation. The result was developing the mentality of just doing work.

3. The heart of achievement. Some practitioners who have stepped out recently and had not done well with their Fa-study mistakenly thought that Fa validation was to establish their own power and virtue, and was for their own consummation, so they blindly pursued numbers and were eager to make achievements. This easily led to problems.

4. The heart of being nice. Some practitioners were afraid of stepping out to validate Dafa because of the heart of fear. In order to help one practitioner, a fellow local practitioner who was doing well validating Dafa asked the practitioner to distribute flyers or glue word blocks together. Although the practitioner helped, it was just for the sake of being nice, rather than for validating the Fa and saving sentient beings. Obviously, bringing such a mentality into validating the Fa would reduce the effectiveness of the validation work. If an everyday people's mentality is in control during Fa validation, it is equal to everyday people doing Fa validation work. The most dangerous part is when validating Dafa with an everyday person's mentality, it is easy to be taken advantages of by the evil, and they may find excuses to persecute practitioners.

What kind of heart we have while validating Dafa is an essential starting point for doing Dafa work. It reflects whether our motivation for validating the Fa is for ourselves or for others. If we use an impure mentality to validate the Fa, the foundation is not right, and to some extent it shows the deviated notion of self-interest. If we establish the foundation on the basis of validating the Fa and saving sentient beings with a pure heart, then the starting point is right. This shows the selfless and altruistic righteous enlightened beings that Dafa practitioners are striving to become. With such a righteous heart to validate the Fa, the evil won't be able to find excuses; otherwise they will have violated the Law, and Master's Fashen [Law Body]and Fa-protecting gods won't be lenient with them. Even if we encounter danger during Fa validation, Master will help us return safely. From another angle, only if the foundation is correct can Fa validation work be most effective, and truly achieve the goal of validating the Fa and saving sentient beings.

This is my own understanding, please kindly share your opinions with me.

(Clearwisdom.net) Within the last few days I have let go of an attachment that I have been clinging to for a long period of time. I have let go of my ego so as to view problems from a different perspective. There seems to be a window that has opened in my heart after having been shut for a long time through which I am breathing in wonderfully pure and fresh air. I have suddenly experienced a hard to describe beauty that Dafa brings to lives.

It turns out that everything Teacher gave us is so beautiful that it cannot be depicted and explained even by using the most beautiful languages of human beings. Yet my heart had been dirty, not thoroughly cleansed, it was not holy and pure, and not bright and crystal-clear enough to be worthy of enjoying what Teacher has given us. In many cases, I had been following a small number of the principles which I had learned from the boundless Great Law, while centering myself on my ego. This caused a separation between Dafa and myself.

Everything has been renewed and re-created but I had been still behaving in accord with the principles of the old cosmos. I have realized that on many occasions when doing something to validate the Fa, I didn't continuously purify my heart and do those things under the guidance of my profound awareness. I was doing it according to my postnatal mentality.

Looking back at the things I had previously done, in numerous instances I was doing those things with an attachment of pursuit. This was selfish and in consideration of only myself. I had been letting go for the purpose of letting go. I had been breaking for the purpose of breaking, thinking of others for the purpose of thinking of others, studying Dafa for the purpose of studying Dafa, sending forth righteous thoughts for the purpose of sending forth righteous thoughts on time, clarifying the truth for the purpose of clarifying the truth.

Everything I did was always for the purpose of accomplishing something. When I was able to, layer-by-layer, break through these spiritual shackles and restraints and truly begin letting go of them, I was then naturally satisfied by doing the things I should do. "Ego" didn't count, neither did doing things with pursuit. My personal purpose, gain and pursuit were all gone.

Now in facing any problem, I no longer stick to thinking how "I" should do it or why should I do it. I am able to first think of fellow practitioners and all of us as a whole and am therefore clear-minded and rationally able to do what a Dafa practitioner should without any human mentalities.

As a matter of fact, Teacher has given us everything. However, I didn't take them and made one mistake after another. I didn't really cherish what Teacher has given us, but only wanted to gain from Dafa. I asked myself, how firm and unshakable is my belief in Dafa? I had always had a bit of reservation and hesitation when it came to this question. Can I dedicate my whole heart to Dafa? Can I let go of the fear of death at any moment? If my belief in Dafa is firm and unshakable enough, how could I worry about the matter of life and death? If I really behave myself dauntlessly, would I still fear this or that?

Our respected Teacher told us in Lecture at the US East Coast Conference,

What really restrains us when rectifying the Fa is nothing but ourselves, not others or any other external factor.

Indeed, the mentality of "self" should not exist and everything must be melted into Dafa since this is the choice and gift of our respected Teacher. In this historical period of Fa-rectification, Dafa practitioners are lucky enough for the chance to realize their predestined relationships with our Teacher and Dafa. It is an opportunity of many lifetimes and is not meant for our personal cultivation and improvement. It is given to us, in the continuous process of purifying ourselves, to validate the great wisdom of our respected Teacher in His creation of the new cosmos.

7. Writing the Main Body of a Report

(1). Break through the restrictions of human notions

Although Dafa disciples work in different kinds of jobs and careers and have different backgrounds, we know that our true origins are from very high levels. Had there not been the restrictions of our attachments and notions, we would be beings with great wisdom and great freedom. The living condition of one's life in the human world does not reveal how much capability we have. For some of those who never obtained high-level education or those who had rarely written any articles, they might feel that it is hard to start writing and harder to write well. In fact it is not really so. The problem is that there is a notion that makes one feel this way. If you do not believe it, you can try to put your heart into learning to write, and then your writing skill is most likely to be better than what you thought it to be. If you feel that writing is difficult whenever you think about writing, you might indeed be blocked by your notion. We have many practitioners in Mainland China who had never used the Internet, and are now able to break through the blockade and use the Internet. Many of them are older people or children. The main reason for their success is that they broke through their own notions. Things that were hard to learn became easy to learn. They could learn what they didn't understand with just a little bit of help from others. And they could achieve what ordinary people could not achieve. It is the same for writing articles, not to mention that you will become more skilled after practicing more.

(2). Pay attention to the writing style and effect

With news writing, we should first determine who our readers are and what their characteristics might be, and then figure out how to use the appropriate words and organization of contents to best communicate with them. At the same time, we have to be aware what the key points in the news are, and what kind of information we want to pass on to the readers. When the writer writes with a purpose, the reader will feel that the article relates to him and may be more interested in reading it.

With regard to the style of writing, if it is literary work, then we should stress the heightening of emotions and a large amount of descriptive visualization. Other types of writing have other special requirements and characteristics. The basic requirement to news writing is to be true, realistic, and clear. Regarding the language used in news writing, a specialist summarized it as "concise, direct, detailed and clear. Go straight to the heart of the matter. Don't dance around. Make the content essential and precise."

The content's being essential is achieved by having substance in every word. Being concise is another aspect. If you can express it with five words, don't use eight words. And if you can tell it in one sentence, don't use three sentences. Concise and excellent wording can make the article attractive. Of course, since we have limited time, we don't have to pursue perfection as artists do. But we should think from the perspective of a reader. If we could study the usage of wording a little bit better, then the article can make the readers more interested in reading it, and also retaining a deep impression of it.

The conception of news writing is also important. The preciousness of Dafa disciples' clarifying the truth is our attentiveness and our righteous belief in Dafa. Our pure viewpoints on things and our deep understanding of the essence of a matter have provided us with particularly favorable natural conditions. An argument that people can't understand after hearing it repeatedly is not as good as one that someone could easily convey to other people after having heard it only once. Therefore the material and wording are very important. We should use simple words to describe things vividly and precisely, and that at the same time have deep connotations.

(3). The main text of news reports

If the main text of a report is well written, then it will appeal to the reader to find out from the article more about what they do not know and how they will benefit from the information provided after reading the article.

There are mainly two ways of writing. One is called the "upside-down triangle," which means putting the most important facts at the beginning, then the less important, with the least important being at the end and finishing the article with supplementary material. The other way of writing is to write chronologically. One may choose either way according to how one expects to achieve the desired effect, and so on and so forth.

I think the requirement for writing the main text is similar to that of writing a special report. Once one understands the relationship, one can easily grasp different forms of writing at the same time.

Put more specifically, a special report usually has an introduction paragraph to enable the reader to understand the subject, objectives of the report, its importance, background and the information involved, whereas a news report needs to have introductory remarks and brief essentials; a special report is composed of a group of compositions, whereas a news report consists of a group of paragraphs. A special report needs to be written with the reader's interest in mind, whereas a news report should also consider the reader's characteristics. A special report needs a unique reporting angle and form of expression, as does a news report. In addition, a special report often uses pictures, charts, maps and framed pictures to illustrate besides the text, whereas a news report also includes pictures to increase the visual effect of the subject and to attract the reader's attention.

(4). Consider what the reader is interested in

On the above-mentioned point of considering the reader's interest, I think that when Dafa practitioners write news reports, we absolutely should not go along with the unhealthy, immoral taste of the public. When we talk about considering the reader's interest, we mean that a special or a news report we write should be able to help the reader (1) gain new knowledge, new information; (2) touch their heart and arouse their sympathy; (3) learn how to look at things and stimulate their thoughts. At the same time it should provide the reader at the most appropriate time with subject, information and comments that they would like to know most about.

(5). Vivid and varied forms of writing

I mentioned that a special report is composed of a number of compositions and a main text consisting of a number of paragraphs. However, there are many techniques and particulars involved when we go into details. Briefly speaking, it usually refers to the provision of views from multiple angles, multiple sources and a variety of approaches.

Views from many sides will provide views from multiple angles, and this way the content of a report would be vivid, varied and attractive to the reader. For example, we could provide contents of interviews. The theory and introduction tend to be abstract, but if we include a real specific case, the content will become vivid and the reader will feel that the report is full of vivid details and it is true to life. Observation and circumstantial evidence is another aspect. People vary from one another and the information they get from their observation also varies. Sometimes, by providing the observation of the reporter and circumstantial evidence from a third party, the report will be much more effective. In addition, background information is also very important, which can be used to complement, to quote as proof or to reinforce the effect of the interview and observation, so that the report is even better supported and more truthful.

An interview is an important means of reporting that is often used. While we make our main points clear and accurate, we should also try to make our report vivid and use a variety of techniques. For example, when reporting on a lawsuit, we could interview the plaintiffs, the witnesses, the lawyer, people in the public gallery, an expert in a relevant area, relevant parties in a similar lawsuit and other parties involved in the lawsuit and so on and so forth.

The above is only some personal accumulated knowledge of basic writing techniques, examples, as well as some personal thoughts on the special requirements of Dafa practitioners in writing news reports. I wrote it in a hurry, so the content might not be comprehensive. I'm only hoping that the issues raised and the relevant information would help fellow practitioners improve themselves in their professional writing skills and in their way of thinking.

(Clearwisdom.Net) Had I not found Teacher Li's Falun Dafa, I would not still be in this world. I used to go astray routinely, and became involved in crime. I pursued money and material pleasure. I dared to do any bad thing and eventually descended to the hell of drug addiction. I tried to quit; however, without the restriction of the "law of the heart," abstinence was impossible.

I spent all of my savings for drugs. In order to obtain money for more drugs, I participated in mob plots, and was beaten. My right hand was broken and a crashing fall fractured both my feet. My wife left me, there was nothing left in my house, I became emaciated and the bad habit still ensnared me. I thought I had come to the end of life, and prepared to leave this world by committing suicide.

Before killing myself, I went to say farewell to my only friend. Fortunately, he was practicing Falun Dafa at the time, and recommended it to me. I opened Zhuan Falun and read "Lunyu" and the first lecture. When I read the words,

The two characters of "salvation" imprinted into my mind with golden lights. I immediately knew Zhuan Falun was not an ordinary book. I eagerly read it through and totally forgot about my suicidal thoughts.

I decided to cultivate and took the first step on the path to start my life over again. Through learning the Fa, I understood that the real purpose of life is to return to one's original, true self by cultivating and assimilating to the nature of the universe, "Zhen (Truth), Shan (Compassion), Ren (Forbearance)." Through cultivation practice I would discard all of my desires and bad habits.

The first thing was to abstain from drugs. Addiction specialists were astounded when I quit taking drugs, without taking any medication, the second day after I read Zhuan Falun. Restricting myself to the cosmic characteristic of "Zhen, Shan, Ren," I firmly practiced Falun Dafa, and have never used drugs again. Some former addict companions came to my house and wanted to do drugs, but they could not rekindle my old desire, and I even advised them to quit. They never bothered me again. I let go of the past intoxicated and dreaming life.

Now, I have a legitimate profession, a fulfilling life, and a healthy body. I am full of energy. Teacher Li and Falun Gong saved me and provided me with a bright path of life. I will not fail Falun Dafa. I will openly cultivate and be a true Falun Dafa practitioner.

Falun Dafa is good.

May 31, 1996 is a special day for me, as it is the day I obtained Falun Dafa.

Before I practiced Falun Dafa, I suffered from all kind of diseases, including common diseases of most people. Just after my 20^th birthday, I started getting very sick, suffering from neurosis, peritonitis, rheumatism, heart disease, tracheitis, pulmonary emphysema, shoulder blade inflammation, tenosynovitis, rheumatoid arthritis, pharyngitis, arteriosclerosis, and other unknown diseases.

In addition to these diseases, other maladies included a disabled right arm, continued bleeding following any type of injury to the body, cervical vertebra bone proliferation, cerebral thrombus, lack of sufficient blood to the brain, hypotension (50~80), frequent bleeding of the womb which had three growths (each the size of a goose egg). Due to loss of blood, the color of my face and body was pale and swollen. My face was severely deformed and my eyes could barely open, which made me look very scary. I took injections for two years to stop the bleeding, but with no relief. My husband commented that there was no part of my body without a problem except my hair. My whole body was devastated, falling apart like a deserted machine. I stayed in bed and tried western medicine and traditional Chinese medicine all year long. I took medicine so often, it was as if the medicines were my meal. Prolonged suffering of these deadly diseases made me very depressed. I lost my willingness to live because of all the suffering and waited for my death.

Right at the most desperate moment, I was very lucky to come to know Falun Dafa. One week after I watched Teacher's lectures, all of my symptoms were totally gone. Since that time, I have become full of energy, and I can walk like the wind! It is the first time in my life that I have felt the wonderful feeling of being free from disease. It is my benevolent teacher that saved me from death and gave me new life. Falun Dafa purified my body and heart, and taught me how to be a good person.

(Clearwisdom.net) I am a regular Chinese person. Just like any other passerby on the street, I live a quiet life at work and at home. However, being regular doesn't mean that I am ignorant, nor does being silent suggest that I don't understand things. I still have a conscience.

I oftentimes look up into the sky while walking down the streets. Seeing the white clouds passing by, I can't help but wonder what remains constant. I am not a Falun Gong practitioner, but I have read the Sutras and the Bible in the past. They provide a stream of hope for kind people suffering tribulations. I have always believed that this hope is firm and free regardless of external pressures. Europe experienced a period of darkness during the Middle Ages. In history, there was also a time when temples were set on fire and monks were killed. Nevertheless, darkness and evil could never last long because Gods have been looking over this land and the ignorant humankind.

When you are so steadfastly upholding your hope and belief, I regret that I am too afraid to stand up and publicly support your behavior. I am also ashamed of myself for being frightened by the vicious dictator. But in any case, I am still able to encourage kind people like you. I can quietly pray and bless you.

My dear fellow countrymen, recently another incident of Falun Gong practitioners being persecuted has come about. I grieve for our homeland deeply whenever I see these kinds of injustices happening around us!

I am a coward. When will justice ever prevail? However, Falun Gong practitioners' actions are in no way insignificant. Maybe the hope of China come from the savior that is present today. At least your words can allow more people to see the truth. Justice will prevail in people's hearts!

The 10th of December is International Human Rights Day and on this day, Dafa practitioners in Dublin, Ireland, held a candlelight vigil until midnight in front of the Chinese Embassy.

Since practitioners have been there many times before to hold peaceful appeals, many of the resident in the area are sympathetic towards Falun Gong. On the day, some gave practitioners signs of encouragement like a victory salute or the thumbs-up.

The persecution of Falun Gong in China has been ongoing for more than four years. Most people in the city of Dublin are familiar with this evil repression that has been triggered by the Jiang regime, and have supported practitioners with many acts of kindness. Many have also chosen to walk the path of Truth, Compassion and Forbearance by beginning to practise Falun Dafa.

(Clearwisdom.net) On December 10, 2003, the International Human Rights Day, a human rights activity was held in the University of Minnesota. Falun Gong practitioners' display booth attracted many visitors.

During the dinner party, many human rights experts expressed their opinions. A practitioner introduced Falun Gong and the persecution it has encountered over the past four years in China. He also pointed out that "Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance" are universal principles. Unfortunately, people who follow these principles are considered "against the law" in China and they are suffering severe persecution. He continued to point out that many people were tortured to death, and that nonetheless, people from different circles outside China are opposing this persecution. In addition, more and more people overseas have begun practicing Falun Gong.

In front of Falun Gong practitioners' display booth, some people asked for the situation about the persecution with great concern. Some people wrote letters on the spot to the prison where U.S. citizen, Falun Gong practitioner, Dr. Charles Li is currently unlawfully held. Some people signed postcards calling for the rescue of Charles Li. Some people even sat down to chat with practitioners while learning how to make paper lotus flowers. A Chinese student who is studying in the University of Minnesota carefully made a paper lotus flower. He said that he was very pleased to talk with practitioners.

(Clearwisdom.net) On December 10, 2003, Chonghsing National Elementary School in Yilan County, Taiwan invited medical doctor and Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Chen Guo-feng to give a lecture entitled, "Life Education." Using his own experiences in practicing Falun Gong and his medical background, Dr. Chen introduced Falun Dafa to the Principal and all faculty members and illustrated the beauty and remarkable benefits of Dafa. The lecture was warmly received.

In recent years, families with problems and students who drop out of school have gradually increased. To correct this situation and enhance family and individual education, the Department of Education requires all schools to conduct "life education" seminars each year as part of their plan of taking care of elementary school students.

Since Falun Gong was introduced to Taiwan in 1995, its outstanding effects in purifying the mind and improving health have been recognized and praised by different levels of government, institutions and schools. Especially, Falun Gong emphasizes upgrading of xinxing (moral character, mind or heart nature). Cultivators all discipline themselves in accordance with Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance and always consider others first. This can supplement the limitations of education. It also plays an important role in improving the general mood of society, promoting purity and suppressing corruption. Because Falun Gong is deeply rooted in people's hearts and is warmly received throughout Taiwan, schools of different levels often arrange Falun Gong seminars during the summer or winter vacations. Some also hold seminars for credits during the school year.

During his lecture, starting from the category of education, Dr. Chen discussed the following issues:

1). Life and the meaning of life

2). Achieving harmony between the human and the outside world

áááá b. Heaven and human are one (Heaven, earth, and human)

áááá c. Selflessness (great leisure and freedom)

3) Brief introduction to Falun Gong

áááá b. Free of charge, not a religion, and not involved in politics. It is not a qigong, but cultivation, and it is formless.

Dr. Chen used his own experience in practicing Falun Gong and his medical background to illustrate the great benefits and the wonderfulness of Falun Dafa. Before he practiced cultivation in Falun Dafa, he was an impatient person; he easily got irritated, and was very self-centered and sensitive. He once suffered from depression and insomnia. After he started practicing Falun gong, he became optimistic and cheerful, and he became able to understand and forgive others. Up to the present, he has been free from illness. Dr. Chen's two-hour lecture was spiced with flashes and cartoons. He talked about the worldwide spread of Dafa and the more than 1000 proclamations issued by different countries to honor Dafa. In the end, he gave a detailed analysis of the suspicious points of the "Tiananmen Square Self-immolation" and other false cases and exposed the facts of the Jiang regime's persecution of Falun Gong.

After the seminar, Principal Li not only highly praised Falun Dafa for its remarkable effects in cultivation and healing and fitness, but he also expressed that he would invite Dr. Chen again in the future to give more information and demonstrate the exercises.

While the Department of Education is working hard to enhance life's value and actively encourages faculty members to conduct "life education" research, on the other side of the strait, Chinese people are deprived of the freedom to believe in Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance under the human rights violations being committed by the Jiang regime. The Chinese government employs the entire national police force to strangle all kinds of information channels and only let its state-controlled media spread lies defaming Falun Gong. Hundreds of thousands of kind Falun Gong practitioners are put into labor camps, while many have even been tortured to death. People who are separated by only a strait and are both descendants of Yan Di and Huang Di -- the Chinese people--but they are experiencing a world of difference.

This activity not only allowed the faculty members in the Chonghsing National Elementary School who attended the seminar to understand more about life and the meaning of life, but they also obtained a deeper understanding of what Falun Gong is and learned more about the persecution.

Kiev practitioners were invited to attend the "Benevolence expo" from December 4th to 7th 2003 together with many other organizations. The purpose of the expo was to raise public awareness to social groups who need care, such as disabled people, orphans, old age pensioners and war veterans. This was the third time that Dafa practitioners were invited to participate in this expo.

The organizers and visitors to the expo all warmly welcomed practitioners' participation, showing that many people had already known Falun Gong.

Practitioners demonstrated the exercises daily at the expo and introduced Falun Dafa to the visitors. Some of the practitioners performed dances, songs and poems composed by practitioners. The management praised that Falun Gong was the most active group and awarded practitioners with a Prize Certificate.

A Falun Gong photo exhibition was recently held in Regensberg, an historic city in southern Germany. The exhibition was organized by human rights organizations, a college and Falun Gong practitioners. The following is the text of a radio report by Tian Yi, Radio Free Asia's special correspondent.

Regensburg, a southern German city on the Donau River, is one of the few ancient German cities that dates back to Roman times. Being off the beaten track, the city has remained a haven of peace for hundreds of years. However, this peace and quiet was broken on the 5th of June 1989, when citizens took to the streets for several consecutive days to protest against the Chinese government's massacre of innocent students in Beijing. Our reporter learned that the number of people who participated in the demonstration was unprecedented in the city's history. Now, the attention of the people of Regensburg is again focused on China. This time, a Falun Gong photo exhibition is being held in the town center. Mr. Jonas is responsible for organizing the exhibition.

Mr. Jonas says he would like to give our listeners a brief introduction to the exhibition, which will start at 11 am this coming Saturday and finish next weekend. It will be held at a famous plaza situated in the town center, and the subject of the exhibition is the peaceful journey of Falun Gong.

The exhibition illustrates the rapid development of Falun Gong since it was first introduced by Mr. Li Hongzhi in China in 1992, followed by a portrayal of the growth of Falun Gong in western countries, particularly in Western Europe. Then it reveals the facts of practitioners being badly tortured since July 1999. The pictures also show Falun Gong practitioners' peaceful appeals and their impact around the world.

Mr. Jonas told listeners that they had invited the Mayor of Regensburg to come and give a speech as well.

Finally, Mr. Jonas introduced himself:

Mr. Jonas came from the African state of Ethiopia, and is now living in Regensburg. In 1999, he saw an introduction to Falun Gong in a bookshop and started practicing. Mr. Jonas said that on the 10th of December, they will also hold a seminar on International Human Rights Day with human rights organizations and the higher education college of Regensburg.

On December 10, International Human Rights Day, more than 200 Falun Dafa practitioners in Hong Kong had a rally to raise awareness about Falun Dafa practitioners from Hong Kong and the Mainland who are being detained in Mainland China. They requested that Chinese Official Jiang and the "610 Office" be brought to justice for persecuting Falun Dafa.

The Central News Agency reported from Ottawa on December 10: Young Canadian men Francis Madore and Mansour Sedighi, and the young Chinese women Zhu Ying undertook a nationwide car tour starting on October 10 from Victoria on the west coast. They traveled across Canada to Ottawa. They have held photo shows in campuses, communities, cities and towns all along their way. The local newspapers, broadcasting, and TV stations reported their trip. This got a great reaction from the people, and they are all calling for an end to the persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners.

On August 15, 2003, the state terrorist organization, the Central "610 Office," assigned more than ten officials to host a brainwashing class in the Shuangcheng City Party School of Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province. Their names are: Hou Bing (from Chongqing City); Wu Chunmei (Police Reader in the Nanmusi Women's Labor Camp, Sichuan Province); Wang Fei (from Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province); Zheng Lihua (from the Haidian District Brainwashing Class held by the Beijing City "610 Office"); Jiang Haiquan (the Tuanhe Labor Camp, Beijing City); Wang Ning (collaborator, the Haidian District Brainwashing Class); Su Wei (the Jinan City "610 Office," Shandong Province); Zhao Yongming (No.2 Team Leader of the Jinan Labor Camp/Brainwashing Center, Shandong Province); Zhou Dongqing (collaborator, Zibo Brainwashing Center, Shandong Province); Zhang Chenggong (Triumph Oil Field, Shandong Province); and Li Huan (collaborator, Beijing).

Lecturer Song Jianguo of the Sanhe City Party School, Hebei Province has been detained many times for firmly holding to his faith. On February 1, 2002, he was followed and arrested by police on the way to Sanhe, Beijing. On November 5, 2003, Song Jianguo was transferred from Beijing to the Kaiping Labor Camp, in Tangshan City, Hebei Province, and has been unjustly sentenced to three years in labor camp.

In the middle of November, 2003, Falun Dafa practitioner Wu Kexue from Wuhan City was abducted by police in the Nantou Substation, which operates under the Nanshan Station in Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province. He is now missing. His parents are very sad, and beg all kindhearted people to help rescue their son. Falun Dafa practitioner, Ms. Xin Enhao of the Datong Mine District, Shanxi Province was sentenced to two and half years of labor camp, and is being detained in the Xindian Women's Labor Camp. She has been tortured with sleep deprivation for more than three months, has been forced to stand army style, and was beaten up by drug addict prisoners with kicks to her stomach and private parts, which has resulted in bleeding, and in her life being in danger.

Some political scoundrel in the Heshui City Chemicals Factory started their persecution towards employee Ms. Yi Chunmei since July 20, 1999. They sent Yi Chunmei to a brainwashing class in October 1999 for five days, and extorted more than 400 yuan from her. In December 2000, her husband had to divorce her because he could not endure the mental pressure any longer. She had to live in her mother's house after the divorce. These villains often harassed her at her mother's house. She was abducted on April 21, 2001, and brought to another brainwashing class, where she was detained for almost half a year since she would never give up practicing. She went through handcuffing, humiliations, force-feeding, and other inhuman treatment. She finally went home at the end of August 2001.

Han Shan District Police Head Liu Wenming of Handan City has followed Jiang's malicious persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners, and sentenced many Falun Dafa practitioners to labor camp, detention, or prison. The police from the criminal team or substations under Liu's direction have conducted long term torture of practitioners and have extorted money from practitioners.

The following are the situations of Falun Dafa practitioners being detained and persecuted in Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province. Falun Dafa practitioner, Mr. Liu Pingfan, Mr. Yang Rongbin, Ms. Gu Guijuan, and Ms. Lang Xiqin were accused by malcious people, and abducted on December 1, 2003. Falun Dafa practitioner Dai Zhong from Fuyuan County was detained in the Jiamusi Labor Camp, and since his life was in danger in March 2003, he was sent home. Around August 21, Falun Dafa practitioner Li Xingzhi was arrested by police from the Jiamusi City Train Station Police Substation, and was sentenced to one year of labor camp on September 10, 2003. Ever since July 20, 1999, corrupted officials in the Jiamusi railroad system have harassed employed or retired Falun Dafa practitioners, bringing to them both mental and financial losses. They held many brainwashing classes, and whoever firmly holds to their faith is transferred or dismissed from their jobs.

The following are cases of how Falun Dafa practitioners endured hardships. Falun Dafa practitioner Zhang Chunzhi was tortured in the Hegang, Jiamusi Labor Camp. She was thrown in the snow, and made to freeze. She was often beaten with batons, which resulted in her left leg often going numb. Another Falun Dafa practitioner Li Sumei endured hardships in the Hegang City No. 2 Detention Center for six and a half months. She was then sent to the Xigemu Labor Camp in Jiamusi City. Guards handcuffed her to a metal bed. Because she resisted the persecution, police beat her until she started to convulse uncontrollably. She is now forced to do a packaging job, and is tortured mentally and physically every day. On December 13, 2002, police abducted Falun Dafa practitioner Kou Weixiang, and sent her to the Xigemu Labor Camp on January 6, 2003.

A Story from China: My sister was against our practicing Dafa after July 20, 1999. In rage, she had torn up a Dafa book. She also forced me to write a guarantee letter. She was very sick during the year I was in the labor camp. When I was released after hunger strike, I clarified the truth to her, and let her watch truth-clarifying VCDs, and read Clearwisdom.net materials and Master's scriptures. She woke up totally. She reads Dafa books whenever she has time, and also recommended to her friends that they learn Dafa. She even clarified the truth once when she went to the market with me. She has taken much less medicine this year. She had a lymph node a few days ago. The doctors easily removed the node form her mouth, it was about 1 cm by 0.7 cm large. She used to have a tubercular at her lymph area for more than 20 years, and her chin would swell up huge every time it got irritated. I said, "This is a good thing! You were rewarded because you supported Dafa, and your disease is totally cured." She said, "How miraculous!"

On November 28, 2003, an illegal trial of Falun Dafa practitioners Ru Jianbin, Li Jun, and Zhao Wenlan was held at Qiaodong District Court in Zhangjiakou City. On the evening of November 27, some practitioners put up many banners and sayings clarifying the truth near the court. On the day of the trial, over a hundred practitioners gathered in front of the court, but the police did not allow them to enter. Therefore, practitioners started to send forth righteous thoughts outside, and explain the truth of Falun Dafa to onlookers. They shouted loudly, "Falun Dafa is good!" The police were in a great panic. Then the court announced, "Court is adjourned and the trial will be held at another time." However, on the way home from the court, two practitioners were illegally arrested.

Zhang Yuhua, a Russian teacher from Nanjing Teacher's University, and Chi Hongying, a former employee from Shenhai Thermoelectric Plant, were illegally arrested in July 2002. They have been detained at #188, East Chating Road, Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province (post code: 210017). They were illegally sentenced to prison terms and have filed an appeal. According to inside sources, a trial will be held soon.

On November 15, 2003, Ms. Hao Xiuhua from Changchunling Town of Fuyu County and Ms. Qiu Fenglan were illegally arrested by police from Simajia Township Police Substation. Their current whereabouts are still unknown.

On the morning of November 29, 2003, more than twenty half-meter-long red banners with yellow lettering were fluttering over the highway that goes toward Sanxingdui Historic Site at Guanghan, Sichuan Province. The lettering "Bring Jiang Zemin to Justice Around the World!" was exceptionally visible. In the morning, both local and foreign tourists saw it. Some tourists chatted about it excitedly on the tourist bus. They couldn't help smiling at it.

Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. He Sanpu of Zhengzhou was illegally arrested while at work. His work unit, the municipal "610 Office" and Public Security Bureau were involved in his arrest. His whereabouts are as of yet unknown.

In 2000, Mr. He was illegally sentenced to two years of forced labor simply because he spoke fairly for Falun Dafa. In mid-July of 2000, he was illegally detained to the Baimiao Forced Labor Camp in Zhengzhou City. During the illegal detention for two years and three months, he insisted on practicing Falun Dafa. His term was completed on August 23, 2002. However, his work unit, together with the "610 Office", sent him directly from the forced labor camp to the brainwashing class at "Wanqing Villa" located in the Zhengzhou City's western suburbs, where he was subject to forced brainwashing. He wasn't released until the end of 2002. However, only two months later, police from the Jinshuihe Police Substation secretly and illegally arrested him again on February 26, 2003 due to the so-called "Two Conferences" to be held by the Party. It was the third time that he was illegally arrested.

Former practitioner Liu Shuqing is an employee from the Flax Plant located at Mingsheng Road, Dongli District of Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province. She was illegally arrested together with another practitioner whose last name is Xie in late November 2003. Since then she has gave in and cooperate with the police. She gave the police information about another practitioner Gao Fengyun, who lived near the provincial government. Thus, Gao was abducted to Harbin No.2 Detention Center several days ago.

On August 26, 2003, the court in Yuzhou City held an illegal trial of ten local Falun Dafa practitioners. Family members of these practitioners were not informed to be present on the day of the trial. Practitioners declared loudly in the court, "Falun Dafa is good!" It greatly shocked the persecutors, and the illegal trial ended in a hurry.

The ten practitioners are:

Mr. Zhang Shaofeng, 37 years old, an employee from Yuzhou Thermal Power Plant. He was illegally arrested for distributing truth-clarifying materials in October 2002. He was sentenced to ten years in prison.

Mr. Zhao Jianying, 29 years old, from Wuliang Town of Yuzhou City. He was illegally arrested for distributing truth-clarifying materials in October 2002. He was sentenced to ten years in prison.

Ms. Wang Shucai, 32 years old, from Huashi Township of Yuzhou City. She was illegally arrested for distributing truth-clarifying materials in October 2002. She was sentenced to nine years in prison.

Mr. Li Baoyun, 47 years old, from Juntaiba of Yuzhou City. He was illegally arrested while at home in December 2002. He was sentenced to eight years in prison.

Mr. Zhang Qi, 38 years old, an employee from the Industrial & Commercial Bank of Yuzhou City. He was illegally arrested while at home in November 2002. He was sentenced to seven years in prison.

Ms. Jiang Xueping, 46 years old, from Yuzhou City. She was illegally arrested while distributing truth-clarifying materials in October 2002. She was sentenced to six years in prison.

Mr. Yan Erxuan, 50 years old, from Guolian Township of Yuzhou City. He was illegally arrested while distributing truth-clarifying materials in October 2002. He was sentenced to five years in prison.

Mr. Xiao Dianqing, 56 years old, from Guolian Township of Yuzhou City. He was illegally arrested while distributing truth-clarifying materials in October 2002. He was sentenced to four years in prison.

Ms. Zhang Junxia, 36 years old, from Yuzhou City. She was illegally arrested while distributing truth-clarifying materials in October 2002. She was sentenced to four years in prison.

Mr. Wei Guoduo, 49 years old, from Fangshan Town of Yuzhou City. He was illegally arrested while at home in October 2002. He was sentenced to three years in prison.

Currently they are being detained at the No.1 Detention Center of Yuzhou City. They are scheduled to be sent to prison pretty soon for intensified persecution.

Mr. Ni Shengjun is a 38-year-old practitioner from Qumufang Village of Lizifang Town, Zhuanghe City. At noon on June 10, 2002, about ten minutes after he had arrived at his home, five policemen entered together with a villager named Wang Taiping. They searched his home and found out some truth-clarifying materials. When the policemen came in, Mr. Ni jumped out from the window, barefoot. Wang Taiping held Mr. Ni's wife Mrs. Jiang Chunlin, and two policemen, one on bicycle, ran after Mr. Ni. They caught up with him and then tore apart his sweater. Mr. Ni Shengjun's whereabouts are currently unknown.

Mr. Xu Guowei, a Dafa practitioner from Gaizhou, went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Dafa. Policeman Sun Qian extorted 800 yuan from him. When Mr. Xu later asked for the money back, Sun Qian said, "Go and get it from Jiang Zemin."

Zhengzhou practitioners Qu Peijian, Feng Caiqin, Niu Tongqin and Li Huizhen have been illegally jailed nearly a year at Section Eight of the No.1 Detention Center in Zhengzhou City.
