BERLIN (GFGIC) - On November 20th 2001, 36 western Falun Gong practitioners demonstrated on China's famous Tiananmen Square, calling for justice for Falun Gong in China. They were forcibly arrested and expelled from the country. Now, two years later, some of the German participants are submitting charges to the Federal Prosecutor in Karlsruhe, Germany, against the former leader Jiang Zemin and other senior officials and persons responsible for the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China. The complaint charges them with genocide, crimes against humanity and torture, as well as dangerous bodily harm to Falun Gong practitioners in China.
The lawsuit is filed by a total of 39 victims of this persecution, the German Falun Dafa Association and dedicated citizens who support an end to the terror campaign against Falun Gong in China by taking part in this lawsuit. The lawsuit features the personal testimonies of 15 victims of torture, living outside of China. The official documentation contains the cases of over 800 deaths in this persecution, as well as other victims, providing an exposition of the unimaginable extent of this terror campaign, torture methods and persecution of people from all walks of life in China.
Lawyer Wolfgang Kaleck from Berlin, known as a representative for German victims of the Argentine armed forces Junta, represents the prosecutors. In terms of its consequences and significance, this lawsuit should be held in equal regard to the prosecution of Milosevic and Pinochet. As Johannes Rau commented in Nanjing: Human rights have a universal meaning. In September 2003, the German Federal President went on to say in a statement about human rights given in front of about one thousand students and professors in the University of Nanjing: If it concerns a person's fundamental rights to life, freedom, and the protection from torture, arbitrary imprisonment and discrimination the prerequisites for being able to walk upright then there cannot be any compromises in the basic attitude. The submission of the lawsuit prepared for November 2003 in Germany stands on this background. This lawsuit focuses entirely on the crimes of Jiang Zemin and his followers, who do not represent the Chinese people or the Chinese state.
The persecution of Falun Gong is based on Jiang Zemin's order: "Discredit Falun Gong. Cut off Falun Gongs financial resources. Physically destroy Falun Gong practitioners." For the past four years, this order has interfered with the lives of millions of Chinese people. Practitioners relatives, friends, businesses, schools and other educational institutions are coerced into taking part in the persecution against Falun Gong and incited to betray practitioners, or they are made to pay fines to prevent Falun Gong practitioners being illegally detained. Up to one hundred thousand Falun Gong practitioners in prisons and forced labour camps have been abused, tortured, brainwashed and forced to give up their moral principles. Families are torn apart, people are forced to live on the streets, women are raped and forced to have abortions, and the innocent are tortured to death.
The Code of Crimes against International Law, introduced on June 26th 2002, article 1, part 1, o 1, states: This Act shall apply to all criminal offences against international law designated under this Act, to serious criminal offences designated therein even when the offence was
committed abroad and bears no relation to Germany.
The UN Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide of 1948 states: Article 2: In the present Convention, genocide means any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group, as such:
(a) Killing members of the group;
(b) Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group;
(c) Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part;
(d) Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group;
(e) Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group.
This UN convention was prepared and signed by the contracting parties, including Germany: in recognition of the fact that genocide of mankind has caused great losses in history in all times, and in the conviction that for mankind's liberation of one such despicable scourge international cooperation is required.

(Clearwisdom.net) Dafa practitioner Ms. Xuan Honggui, 36, lived in Hailong Town, Meihekou City, Jilin Province. She was arrested and sent to the Heizuizi Female Labor Camp in Changchun City, where she was savagely tortured until she developed severe edema in the abdominal area. She was near death and released. Ms. Xuan passed away on October 8, 2003, three months after she was released from the infamous labor camp.
Ms. Xuan made a living selling boxed lunches. Before January 2001, she risked her personal safety to distribute truth clarification materials, so that people will have a chance to see through the state-run media's slanderous propaganda. Three doctors who work at the No. 3 Meihekou City Hospital in Hailong Town reported her, which resulted in her arrest. The Hailong Town Police Department rewarded each doctor with 2,000 Yuan.
After she was arrested, Xuan Honggui was sent to Meihekou City Detention Center. Later she was transferred to the Heizuizi Female Labor Camp in Changchun City, where she was forced to do slave labor and brutally tortured, both physically and mentally. She developed severe abdominal edema and was released in July 2003. She had a constant fever after she had returned home. Xuan Honggui's husband, Zhao Yongtian, was deceived by the Jiang regime's lies and continued to abuse her. Xuan Honggui passed away in the morning of October 8, 2003.
Xuan Honggui's pseudonym is Chong Sheng. Her experience in the labor camp was published on Clearwisdom on September 17, 2003, entitled "If We Behave Righteously, Master Can Do Anything for Us".

On May 15, 2003, practitioner Ms. Sun Fenghua was arrested by Harbin City Police in Heilongjiang Province. While she was in detention, the police repeatedly shocked her with an electric baton, which left her body covered with scars. The police also connected live 220-volt electric lines directly to her hands, resulting in her immediate loss of consciousness. Ms. Sun is still unable to walk as a result of such a massive electrical shock. After more than twenty days of torture, the police sent her back to Hailun City Detention Center, where she went on a hunger strike for more than four months.
On October 14, 2003, the court sentenced her to fourteen years in Harbin Women's Prison without a trial.

(Clearwisdom.net) In October 2003, Dafa practitioners in Nehe City, Heilongjiang Province aired Dafa truth clarification videos for nearly 30 minutes, according official reports. Witnesses said that the police and government could do nothing but wait until the videos had finished.
The central "610 Office"* has sent a Special Cases Group to Nehe City, and together with perpetrators from the local "610 Office" they ransacked Dafa practitioners' homes and arrested Dafa practitioners in Nehe City and the surrounding areas. Three Dafa practitioners who lived in Molidawaqi in Heilongjiang Province have already been arrested on October 26th, and their homes were ransacked.
Because the Chinese government blocks all information regarding Falun Gong, we have not been able to verify details of the arrest and persecution of these Dafa practitioners.
*The "610 Office" is an agency specifically established to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems.
(Clearwisdom.net November 11, 2003) Dafa practitioner Lu Bingsen from Daqing city was tortured to death at the Daqing labor camp on October 20th, 2003 during his illegal labor camp term. The one directly responsible for his murder is the deputy group leader, Zhang Mingzhu. At about 1pm on that day, Zhang Mingzhu confined Lu Bingsen in a solitary compartment* and tortured him on the Tiger Bench** until he died.

*"Being confined in a solitary compartment" refers to locking up a single detainee in a solitary cell, which contains a basin and a pair of handcuffs. The basin is used both for face washing and relieving the urine and bowels. One end of the handcuffs fastens the wrist and the other end attaches to the door railing. The handcuffs can be fastened onto the door railing at three different heights. In the highest position, the detainee has to extend his/her arm upward. The middle position is at waist level. In the lowest position, the detainee can sit on the ground.
**Practitioners are forced to sit on a small iron bench that is approximately
20 cm (6 inches) tall with their knees tied together. There is a hole in the bench through which the practitioner must relieve their bowels and bladder. With their hands tied behind their backs or sometimes placed on their knees, they are forced to sit
straight up and look straight ahead. They are not allowed to turn their
heads, close their eyes, talk to anyone or move at all. Several inmates are
assigned to watch over and force the practitioners to remain motionless while sitting on the bench. Usually some hard objects are inserted underneath the practitioners' lower legs or ankles to make it harder for them to tolerate this abuse.
(Clearwisdom.net) The so-called "Xingtai City Legal System Education Center" is located on Fengcang Street, Qiaodong District, Xingtai City, Hebei Province. It is kept secret from outsiders, and is actually a brainwashing center that persecutes Falun Dafa practitioners.
This brainwashing center is directly manipulated by the Xingtai City "610 Office" [an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary branches.] Its personnel consist of people from the "610 Office," and the former practitioners that turned against Dafa under pressure, who receive wages from them. After Falun Dafa practitioners are arrested, they force every family to pay a so-called transformation fee, which is between one thousand and a few thousand Yuan [500 Yuan is the average monthly income for an urban worker in China.] They threaten to send practitioners to forced labor camps or jail if the money is not paid. The methods commonly used to brainwash Falun Dafa practitioners are: A television broadcast or video that frames Falun Dafa and practitioners or abuses Falun Dafa. Seven or eight "610 Office" personnel and collaborators [former Falun Gong practitioners who have gone astray due to brainwashing and torture] take turns telling practitioners lies day and night. Practitioners are deprived of sleep. As soon as the practitioners close their eyes, the personnel wake them up. They do not allow practitioners to use the toilet, so practitioners Zhang Aifu and others had to urinate in their pants. The perpetrators try to force practitioners to curse Teacher, and they use all means to torment practitioners. The "610 Office" personnel also use many methods to threaten and bully practitioners' family members and relatives, and try to use them to convince practitioners to give up their beliefs. Those family members who refuse to coerce the practitioners are excluded from school or dismissed from their workplace. If they still do not give in, the "610 Office" threatens to send practitioners to forced labor camps or torture them. They aim to break the practitioners' faith with psychological tricks, detain them for long terms, and escalate their persecution. For example, practitioner Mr. Wang Hailin was detained here for half a year, and was then transferred to the Xingtai City No. 2 Detention Center. Mr. Yang Jinmiao is a retired cadre from Shanghai. When he visited his hometown at Guangzong County in April this year, Zhang Ruiqing, the "610 Office" head in Guangzong County, knew that Yang practiced Falun Gong, so he searched Yang's home but did not find any evidence. He nonetheless forcibly arrested Yang Jinmiao and detained him for one month in a detention center. He seized Yang's identification card, 1,450 Yuan in cash, then detained Yang in the Xingtai City Brainwashing Center, where he remains today.
In the detention centers, many steadfast practitioners use every chance to study the Fa, practice the exercises, and share experiences to improve together. The righteous faith and righteous thoughts of practitioners have suppressed the evil.
Quite a few practitioners here conduct hunger strikes for long periods to protest the illegal detention. The personnel then force-feed, curse at, and beat the practitioners. They do not allow them to sleep or use the toilet. They torture practitioners with electric batons and other instruments. However, many practitioners have walked out of the brainwashing center using their righteous thoughts.

Former practitioners who turned against Dafa under pressure: Wang Jimin, Wang

(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Wang Shuqin, a Dafa practitioner from Changchun City, over 50 years old, is currently being illegally detained in the No.3 Detention Center in Changchun City. This summer, Ms. Wang was cruelly persecuted because she went on a hunger strike to resist the illegal detention. She was forced to wear handcuffs and shackles. The handcuffs were connected to the shackles so she could not stand up. Even more vicious than that, the prison doctor, Dr. Yi, and Guo Jin tortured her by pushing needles into all of her fingertips. Ms. Wang had been on a hunger strike for 30 days and was tortured like this for 25 days. It is an extremely painful and cruel torture. The same torture was used on her previously when she was detained last year. She was also tortured with a corrosive liquid, which they dropped into her nose. Other Dafa practitioners who have been tortured by these same methods in the No. 3 Detention Center in Changchun City include Zhao Guifeng, Zhang Fan, Hu Huiqiu and Zhang Chunqping.
(Clearwisdom.net) Since the persecution began on July 20 of 1999, lawless officers and personnel as well as the "610 Office" authorities in Yanshi City, Luoyang District, Henan Province, have brutally persecuted Dafa practitioners. They have paraded practitioners through the streets wearing defamatory banners, in a tactic left over from the cultural revolution, and have confiscated their property. Dozens have been disabled or injured and put into forced labor education. In addition, practitioners have repeatedly been forced to attend brainwashing classes.
From March 2003 until present, Mr. Zhang Jiancheng, Mr. Duan Xianjun and Ms. Zhu Xianzhi were abducted from their homes and taken to the brainwashing class. Ms. Han Aifang was arrested because someone reported to the police that she and four other practitioners watched a VCD for clarifying the truth at her home. Ms. Han was disabled and sent to forced labor education in Eighteen Mile River after being detained in Yanshi Detention Center for a month. The other practitioners were each fined 1000 yuan [the monthly pay of an urban worker in China is about 500 yuan] after being arrested illegally. They were forced to write the "Three Statements" [Practitioners are coerced under brainwashing and torture to write these as proof that they have given up their belief. Created by the "610 Office", the three statements consist of a letter of repentance, a guarantee to never again practice Falun Gong, and a list of names and addresses of all family members, friends and acquaintances who are practitioners.] before getting released.
Ms. Zhu was abducted to the brainwashing class and then went on a hunger strike for four days. At that time, she was able to walk out from the brainwashing class as a result of righteous thoughts. "610 Office" authorities forced the Hou Village Council to spend over one hundred thousand yuan in tracing Ms. Zhu everywhere and listing her as "wanted" on the internet. They searched her relatives' and friends' homes and the homes of practitioners who got along with her in the Eighteen Mile River Detention Center, harassing them. A practitioner's home in Luoyang City was under surveillance by Yang Xiaoming, the chief of Yanshi Political Security Section. Ms. Zhu's home was under surveillance by two persons in Hou Village Police Station. Mr. Lin Wanquan, Ms. Zhu's husband, was taken away several times and questioned in an effort to bring out his wife's whereabouts. "610 Office" authorities also went to the Yanshi Second High School, where her oldest daughter, Lin Wenjuan, studied, in order to bully and threaten her into revealing her mother's whereabouts. Dafa practitioner Mr. Zhang Yingkuan was ordered to stop working for ten days and forced to search for Ms. Zhu and turn her in to the authorities. He was threatened that if he could not find her, the authorities would not release his wife, Ms. Hou Huanfang. The authorities also established a special case team for this effort.
In April, eight practitioners in Shouyang Mountain Town were abducted and every one was fined from ten thousand to twenty thousand yuan. They were sent to Eighteen Mile River for one and a half year's forced labor education after being detained in the detention center for a month. Five persons were returned due to poor health and only one person was kept there. The five persons were not allowed to go home but were sent to the brainwashing class in the Huaxia Hotel for two or three months. Ms. Hou Huanfang and Ms. Zhang Huiqing were detained in Yanshi Detention Center for half year. On October 10, the criminal section of Yanshi City Court sentenced Ms. Hou to four year's imprisonment and Ms. Zhang to three years' imprisonment.
Before October 1, Li Yanzhen and Zhang Jinjiang who are workers in Yanshi Flour Factory, as well as Zhang Jiahua and Zhang Taisheng who are farmers in Shouyang Mountain Town, were abducted at home to the brainwashing class in Yanshi Huaxi Hotel. The Village Police Station assigned special persons to "assist and educate" all of them. The "610 Office" in Yanshi City ordered the Village Council to provide ten thousand yuan, in order for "610 Office"authorities and those in city-level and town-level government to freely spend while attending the persecution sessions of Falun Gong practitioners. Besides earning their own normal salary, they did not have to pay for board and lodging. Every person also could earn 20 yuan in subsidies every day. The daily cost was several thousand yuan just to provide them with board and lodging. They also encouraged staff officers and personnel in village government to attend the persecution. They persecuted virtuous practitioners using the people's money earned by hard toil.

Persecution at Chengdu City Detention Center
1. Interrogation outside of the detention center
Police blindfolded Dafa practitioners and led them to an outside hotel room where they tied the handcuffed practitioners to a heavy chair and interrogated them day and night. The abusive authorities don't allow practitioners to sleep. Even closing their eyes for a brief moment is forbidden. Oftentimes several police officers took turns interrogating one practitioner. These officers often used physical abuse and torment such as slapping, shocking with an electric stun baton, handcuffing, and hanging up, which are the most commonly used tortures. Sometimes the police also beat practitioners in the detention center investigation room.
2. Torture inside the detention center
A. Force-feeding and murder: The detention center used forced feeding to torture practitioners who were on hunger strikes. This lead to several deaths: Ms. Huang Lisha and Ms. Hu Hongyue were killed as a result of forced feeding through their nostrils in September and October of 2002. Both victims refused to tell their names to the detention center authorities which caused them to be tortured via force feeding.
B. Inciting criminal inmates to mistreat and torture Dafa practitioners.
C. Torturing the most determined Dafa practitioners over a long time period. Ms. Zhu Junxiu and Ms. Yu Hongyan were forced to wear handcuffs and shackles for extended periods of time. The police did not allow anyone to talk to Ms. Zhu. Anyone caught talking to her was severely punished.
D. Extend persecution to non-practitioner inmates. Thanks to Dafa practitioners' efforts to clarify the facts, many inmates came to understand the truth about Dafa. They are no longer willing to give practitioners a hard time. Sometimes they even helped the practitioners, but some police officers set up a rule. Those who turned a blind eye when practitioners practiced Falun Gong were punished by being forced to work at night, hand copying prison rules and code of conduct, and other degrading tasks.
3. Name list of Dafa practitioners who were detained in the detention center without trial or formal sentencing:
Ms. Yu Hongyan, an accountant at Sanya Airlines, studied in Germany before returning to China. She was bound in torture devices for 2-3 months. Once when she shouted, "Falun Dafa is good," the police punished her by covering her entire face except eyes and nose with packaging tape. To protest the mistreatment, she went on a hunger strike for over 20 days.
Several Sichuan University faculty members have been detained since November 2002:
Ms. Yang Jinxia is a professor in her 50's. She was arrested at her home.
Mr. Luo Ping is a foreign language teacher.
Ms. Fang Hui is in her 40's. She has a master's degree and teaches foreign language.
Mr. Wang Haipao, Ph.D, is in his 40's. Dr. Wang is an associated professor of computer science in the math department.
At the end of September 2002, Ms. Zhu Junxiu was arrested together with several other practitioners at her company's retail store. Now all are detained at Chengdu City Detention Center.
Ms. Zhu Jiunxiu's niece, Ms. Liu Yanyu, is not a Dafa practitioner. Because she lived in Zhu's house, the police also arrested her and later sent her to a labor camp.
Due to unsanitary conditions in the center, many practitioners suffered from scabies. Mr. Gu Qun was severely infected with scabies and blister boils, and almost died from a systemic infection. Even today his body is still covered with scars.
Mr. Liu Hui was infected with scabies and suffered from kidney deterioration. His body and face were so swollen that people didn't recognize him. Despite this, he held a hunger strike for over 20 days. He has now been sent to a forced labor camp.
Many practitioners who refused to tell their names are also detained in the detention center. Many of them have been detained over the maximum time they can legally be held. The police could not bring charges against them, but they refuse to release them.
(Clearwisdom.net) A "solemn declaration" is a person's public statement declaring to the world that whatever he or she has done or said under duress or deception that was against Falun Dafa is null and void. Most of these statements have come from Falun Dafa practitioners in China who wished to express regret that, in the face of physical torture and brainwashing, they had signed documents renouncing Dafa and guaranteeing not to practice again. (Clearwisdom.net) Sometimes it seems that when we share or discuss we get trapped in the humanness of being in a situation, and we try hard to find psychological breakthroughs or other answers with our human minds. Sometimes we get so excited with our progress we can't contain our happiness, and then the next day we can't even look in the mirror because we feel so unworthy and depressed. It's almost like we have let go of the anchor that kept us in balance in the first place, and now we are once again going around and around in the massive whirlpool of our human thought patterns and notions, trying to find some sort of solid ground.
In Zhuan Falun, Teacher said, "You must be strict with yourself. In cultivation of the Buddha Fa, you should strive forward vigorously." (Zhuan Falun - Lecture 9: People with Great Inborn Quality ). Teacher also told us, "In order to ascend further, the standard must be raised as well." (Zhuan Falun - Lecture 4: Upgrading Xinxing ). My understanding is that without adhering to strict standards, the demons and the evil will poison us for sure, make us think way too much, make us lazy, angry, jealous, lustful, doubtful, complacent, excited, depressed, confused etc.
At a recent Fa Conference, Teacher addressed the situation of practitioners who were stuck in long term problems they could not resolve, saying, "I really have to ask you: Are you truly cultivating? Have you truly followed Dafa's requirements? " ("Teaching and Explaining the Fa at the Metropolitan New York Fa Conference")
I realized it seems so easy to look for answers everywhere else instead of truly looking inside and asking myself, "Am I truly cultivating? Am I truly holding myself to strict standards?" The answer I came up with was "No."
For the past month I have been getting up after righteous thoughts and doing the exercises. I have also been reading a few chapters a day. I can't believe how powerful just being determined to do the standing exercises every morning has been.á I felt it right away. I truly saw my mind and the old demons trying to make me sway off the path. Laziness, excuses, doubt...I can't believe how powerful I felt after even one day! Only one month has gone by and I feel so much different. I have so much more control over my wandering thoughts. I can keep my mouth shut without saying bad things, and I feel so much stronger when desires and pursuits try to take me down. I don't feel afraid when I clarify the truth to groups or individuals and I have even stopped criticizing others, which seems to be a widespread phenomenon. The first words in my mind when these evil thoughts or desires or emotions come in are, "I am a Dafa disciple, I follow Teacher Li Hongzhi, You cannot persecute me any longer, you are eliminated!" Finally, I have been given some true righteous thoughts and the power to eliminate the demons.
I also realized that righteous thoughts should be a continuous state. Sending forth righteous thoughts is not just a ritual we do four times a day, it should be a constant awareness with every thought we have. That is only achievable by holding ourselves to strict standards.
The only way practitioners can possibly break out of human thinking and notions is to not let our standards slip. We must read the book every day without pursuit. We must read with the heart of nothing else but wanting to follow Teacher. We must do the exercises every day as well as read the book every day. We must not slip. Sharing with others then becomes a healthy phenomenon within Dafa. To say we don't have time to do these things is a human excuse made by people at the human level. We should never, ever say this, as there really are no excuses. This is cultivation. It is serious, it is hard and it is our choice. "Grand talk counts for naught..." (from Teacher's poem, "The Knowing Heart") We must be determined.á We will never have this chance again. We must be strong. This is the standard I have set for myself. It has truly started to once again give me the answers I need at this time and I will not miss a day from now on.
(Clearwisdom.net) In a certain township in Northeastern China, one can find flyers about Falun Gong all over the place. There are even flyers in front of some government buildings. The officials merely smile when they see them and no one throws them away. In September 2003, while other provinces in the county escalated their persecution of Falun Gong practitioners, the officials in our province didn't follow suit.
In early September, statements about Falun Gong were written on the walls of a labor camp in Northeastern China, including "Falun Dafa is good" and "Those that persecute Falun Gong will receive karmic retribution." People working in the labor camp could see them, but they were unable to erase them for half a month. Around the labor camp there were a few statements as well. Passersby found it amazing and some said, "Falun Gong practitioners are amazing. They dare to write statements even here."
In a certain county in Northeastern China, the government was going to hold an opening ceremony in a stadium. The officials tried to prevent any flyers and banners from showing up during the ceremony, so they decided to send a large number of police to patrol the stadium until midnight, the day before the ceremony. Still, practitioners managed to place flyers and information on Falun Gong in a lot of places. On opening day, when the police went into the stadium, they saw banners and flyers everywhere. The first attendees to arrive also saw this sight and were amazed.

(Clearwisdom.net) In September1999, I went to Beijing to validate Dafa. I sat on the cement stairs of Tiananmen Square and began reciting Hong Yin in a very low voice. A person tapped me on the shoulder. When I looked up I saw a public security officer. He said, "You must be a Falun Gong practitioner," and then took me to the police station and detained me there. Lots of practitioners were in the police station. One of the practitioners, around thirty years old, was from Tianjin City. She styled her hair in two long braids and had a very healthy rosy skin color. She wore plain clothes, was not very good at talking and carried a baby boy less than a year old. The baby boy's body was strong and he had beautiful round eyes. In September, the weather in Beijing gets cold, but nonetheless this practitioner and her son wore very thin clothes. Through a conversation with her I had found out the following. When the persecution started, she knew practitioners needed to step out to validate Dafa, but her family is very poor. She did not have money to buy a train ticket and her child was very young, but her heart was very concerned for Dafa. Later on she received several hints from Teacher indicating that she would be able to arrive in Beijing within three days. Therefore, she was determined to bring her child with her even without having any money. So on the way to Beijing they picked up and ate discarded food in order to not starve. Sometimes they even had to try finding food from garbage cans and when the baby ran out of clothes to wear, she would look through garbage piles to find clothes for the baby. They slept wherever they could, and by the third day, they arrived in Beijing. When she got to this point of telling her story, everyone had tears in their eyes and everyone was holding the child in turns, saying that this child is extremely remarkable and magnificent. He was born in the Fa-rectification period to validate Dafa, and at such a very young age, what he and his mother did together was really brave and magnificent.
In November 2000, eight other practitioners and I went to Beijing to validate Dafa. At around 9 a.m. we arrived at Tiananmen Square. We saw uniformed and plainclothes police stationed everywhere, line after line of them armed with guns, even on Qianmen Street near the Square. When I arrived at the right front corner of the Heroes Memorial Monument, I saw a group of foreign tourists; I then stood at their side and unfurled a banner. The other practitioners standing next to me also unfurled their banners. My banner's message was written vertically and it read, "Greetings to Master" and "Dafa is good." It was a windy day and two people were needed to hold the banner. My son was standing next to me, and we both held this one banner. All at once the group of practitioners I was with opened six banners in total. At the moment I opened the banner, I felt like I was standing as tall as the heavens and the world was so calm, but very quickly many police, plain clothes police and soldiers came over, arrested us, and put us into a police vehicle. We were detained in the nearby police station, where there were already a lot of practitioners detained. There was a young, slim practitioner from Yunyang, Hubei province. His head was bleeding due to the beatings by the police from Tiananmen Square. There was another young lady who had come from the northern part of the country and had taken a train to Beijing. As soon as she had arrived in Beijing, she went directly to the square. As she walked to the center of the square, she very quickly took off her coat, exposing her shirt made of white cloth. Messages such as "Falun Dafa is good," "Falun Dafa is a righteous Fa," and "Justice needs to be served for Dafa and Teacher" could be seen on the front, back, and both sleeves on her shirt. Not long after she left, the police caught up with her, pushed her down to the ground and attempted to tear her shirt apart, but she was tightly protecting her shirt. Five to six policemen spent a considerable amount of time trying to tear her shirt apart, but only could manage to tear apart one of her sleeves. Then they a spent a lot more time and effort trying to tear apart the other sleeve. Finally, they managed to tear her shirt into pieces. At last they took her to the police station. Outside of the jail cell was a man around 40 years old, and I could tell that he was not a practitioner because he was smoking cigarettes. Later on, I asked him why he was arrested, and he told me it was because he had taken pictures of us holding the banners. The police took his camera away and interrogated him. They asked what his name was, and where he works and lives, and then destroyed the negatives of his film before letting him go.
The above are my personal experiences, as well as the things that I have witnessed in Beijing.

Just past noon on May 13, 2000, World Falun Dafa Day, I went to Tiananmen Square together with a young girl and a young boy. I had a red Dafa banner in my pocket. There were not many tourists at the Square, but there were numerous plainclothes, uniformed police and police vehicles. All of a sudden, several policemen ran hurriedly. The young girl called out excitedly, "Look! People practicing the Falun Gong exercises!" We saw about a dozen Dafa practitioners in a semicircle doing the "holding the wheel in front of the head" exercise movement close to Chang'an Street. The three of us then ran towards them. As we ran, we took out the banner with "Falun Dafa is good" on it and unfurled it. The girl and I each held one end and we shouted, "Falun Dafa is good!" Suddenly, our scroll was snatched away by some police. I turned around and saw several Dafa practitioners about one meter away unfurling a large yellow banner, which was about five meters long and one meter tall. Several uniformed and plainclothes police were trying to snatch the banner away. I quickly went there to help protect it. A female Dafa practitioner whom I had not met before and I held the banner tight, refusing to let it go. A police officer viciously was striking at her wrist with a baton ...
On this day, at the square, there were two young practitioners, an 18-year-old girl from Shandong province and a boy who had also just turned eighteen. They walked about with their camera, taking pictures of each other, and at times of the magnificent feat of Dafa practitioners safeguarding Dafa. They went back and forth all day long, capturing an entire roll of Dafa practitioners validating Dafa and the vicious police brutality. Then they gave the film to other Dafa practitioners for them to bring back.
With plainclothes, uniformed police and police vehicles abound on the streets of Beijing, a 40-year-old female Falun Gong practitioner and her daughter together, on rented bicycles, went and posted several dozen flyers about the truth of Dafa. They posted them in the areas where the most evil factors were likely to be, such as on trees and buildings by the Tiananmen Square, the appeals office, and other government departments. The mother and her daughter returned home safely.
On the afternoon of May 13 alone, I saw as many as one hundred Dafa practitioners, who refused to give their names, illegally detained inside the iron cages in Beijing's Tiananmen Square sub-bureau. At the time, all of the detention centers in Beijing were full.

In the fall of 2000, I was illegally imprisoned in the fourth brigade in Shijiazhuang Forced Labor Camp in Hebei Province. There were approximately 150 Dafa practitioners imprisoned in three brigades and 12 classes. The Dafa practitioners in this labor camp became one body and created the environment. We did not acknowledge the illegal re-education through labor; we refused the forced labor or to wear the forced labor camp's uniform. Later on, we were locked up in the observation room every day. The prison guard ordered the detainees to strictly monitor us. Dafa practitioners in all squadrons and classes communicated through secret channels and came to the decision to validate Dafa and practice Falun Gong exercises together at 2 p.m. in the open area in front of the building. On that day, we sat on our small stools as usual, quietly reciting Teacher's articles and studying Fa while lending an ear to activities downstairs. Suddenly, right before the appointed hour, we heard the sounds of the exercise verses downstairs. The sixteen Dafa practitioners in the room immediately stood up and went toward the door. Six to seven criminal overseers in the room quickly grabbed the Dafa practitioners running in the front. The overseers went all out, trying to drag them back into the room but Dafa practitioners spared no effort to get out. They were at an impasse. On the corridor outside, Dafa practitioners held tightly to the metal railing with both hands, refusing to be dragged back and called out, "Falun Dafa is good!"
The overseers went after the Dafa practitioners who ran out first. We took the opportunity to slip by them and went downstairs. We practiced the "holding the wheel in front of the head" when we got to the open area in front of the building. In no time, the overseer who monitored me grabbed me by the waist and attempted to drag me upstairs. At this time, there were still thirty to forty Dafa practitioners in the open area. Some of them were doing the "holding the wheel;" others were not able to stand still as they were being tackled by the overseers, but one of their hands still managed to "hold the wheel." Some Dafa practitioners were being pushed to the ground, and some were being dragged away. I was carried upstairs by a tall and sturdy criminal. In the corridor upstairs there were still Dafa practitioners holding tight to the railings in a continuous standoff with their overseers. Sounds of the practice verses continued to echo upstairs and downstairs ... .

Many thanks for your letter. I was glad to hear from you and appreciate your very real and deep concerns about persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners in China.
This is a concern which I and the Labour Party as a whole share, and we have raised it on numerous occasions in the Dail. I enclose some Parliamentary Questions which we have put to the Minister for Foreign Affairs on this topic in recent times, along with the Minister's replies.
I will continue to press on this important matter. It is a cause of regret to hear of any group of people being victimised because of their belief systems.

During Luo Gan's visit to Finland in September, a lawsuit was filed against him on the charges of crimes against humanity, genocide and torture for his role in the persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners. Luo is head of the 610 Office, which is described by human rights advocates as the central control structure for the state terror employed against Falun Gong practitioners in China today. Practitioners in Finland contacted the Finnish government and also Finnish Members of the European Parliament to let them know the details of the lawsuit.
A Finnish Member of European Parliament sent an encouraging reply to local practitioners, writing that the methods used by the Chinese government in persecuting Falun Gong since the beginning of the persecution in 1999 have not only received condemnation but worldwide attention. She also stated, "As you wrote in your letters, through the European Parliament meeting in the Spring, worldwide, governments are beginning to pay more attention to the methods China is using in persecuting Falun Gong. The European Parliament is also aware that in 2002, the Chinese Communist party was responsible for persecution of belief and human rights."
The MEP also wrote that although the situation in China is unchanged, governments around the world are still unable to apply enough pressure on the Chinese government to prevent them from these doing specific things and as a result those who are still persecuting Falun Gong practitioners cannot be brought to justice. Reports have shown that the Chinese government is still persecuting Falun Gong.
This MEP reminded practitioners that action must be taken, justice will prevail and as a result the persecution of Falun Gong will come to an end. In conclusion, she stated, "If there is an opportunity, I am willing to help you with the lawsuit against Luo Gan. With regards to this, please let us keep in contact."

(Clearwisdom.net) In its attempt to eradicate Falun Gong, Jiang's regime resorts to brainwashing, an inhumane mental persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. In the past month, Charles Li, an American citizen detained in China, has been forced to go through brainwashing every day. It is well known that forcing a person to give up his belief is the same as forcing him to give up his conscience and dignity, and it is a clear violation of human rights. The brutality of brainwashing is no less severe than physical torture.
According to a report from Radio Free Asia on November 15th, Falun Gong practitioners held a press conference on Friday (November 14th) in front of the Chinese embassy in Washington, D.C. to protest the Chinese government's attempt to force Charles Li to give up his belief in Falun Gong.
Huang Zuwei, a Falun Gong spokesman in Washington D.C., said, "Today we come here to help rescue our friend and Falun Gong practitioner Charles Li, who is suffering brainwashing in a Chinese prison."
The report said that the gathering started with Huang Zuwei's speech. As usual, the appeal was quiet and peaceful. At this gathering, there was a big banner reading "Release American Citizen Charles Li," along with pictures of him.
In response to the intense effort to brainwash Charles Li, Falun Gong practitioner Ge Yifu said, "During the detention, the Chinese government has been trying all means to force Charles Li to give up his belief. In the past several years, the Chinese government has been controlling public opinion tightly, not allowing different opinions to be voiced. Charles Li went back to China because he wanted to break through that information blockade."
The report said, Yeong-Ching Foo, fiancée of Charles Li, was not able to come to the appeal, but she accepted a telephone interview. She expressed her gratitude to Falun Gong practitioners for their efforts to rescue Charles. Ms. Foo, who hasn't seen her fiancé for over 10 months, strongly requested the immediate release of Charles. She hopes more people will come join the efforts to rescue Charles after they learn what is happening to him.

HONG KONG (AP)--A Falun Gong practitioner from Hong Kong who was detained for a week by mainland Chinese officials said Friday he had been released after authorities found no evidence against him.
Wayne Tang, a 51-year-old businessman who also holds British citizenship, was arrested in Shenzhen which borders Hong Kong on suspicion of organizing Falun Gong activities in China [...]
Tang said he was released by the State Security Bureau in Shenzhen Thursday and immediately returned to Hong Kong. He said mainland officials found no evidence against him after searching his home and office.
In a phone interview, Tang confirmed he practiced Falun Gong, but denied organizing activities with mainland followers. Beijing is seeking to eradicate Falun Gong through a campaign that the group says has left hundreds of people dead.
At a Falun Gong news conference Wednesday, a relative had identified Tang's Anglicized first name as Ray. Tang said she may just have mispronounced it.
Tang said he was arrested Nov. 13 at the offices of a fashion design company owned by relatives in Shenzhen. Three employees were detained for possessing Falun Gong materials, Tang said.
Tang and a Falun Gong spokeswoman, Sophie Xiao, said they didn't know whether the employees were released.
Calls to China's Ministry of State Security seeking comment went unanswered.
Falun Gong remains legal in Hong Kong, which is governed separately from the mainland and enjoys Western-style civil liberties under an arrangement dubbed "one country, two systems."
(Clearwisdom.net) The Deputy Chair at the Department of Public Affairs of the Taiwanese President's Office, Mr. Chen Wen-zong, wrote a letter dated October 31, 2003 to Taiwanese Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Chen Shu-ya, wife of Taiwanese Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Lin Hsiao-kai. Deputy Chair Chen mentioned in the letter that, "freedom of personal belief and travel are basic human rights. The international society will never agree with China's actions of denying such human rights. The Taiwanese government will continue by all means to rescue Taiwanese citizens who suffer similar types of persecution by the Chinese Communist Party."
Deputy Chair Chen also said in the letter that President Chen Shui-bian had learned of the safe return of Mr. Lin Hsiao-kai, husband of Ms. Chen Shu-ya. Furthermore, President Chen was very pleased with the news and praised Ms. Chen for her courage during the period when her husband was under the detention of the National Security Bureau in China.
Mr. Lin Hsiao-kai was illegally detained for 20 days when he traveled to Shanghai. To rescue her husband, Ms. Chen, with the help from the Taiwan Falun Dafa Association, appealed to the Taiwanese Legislative Congress and Mainland Affairs Council in Taiwan for help. The Taiwanese government and many public representatives supported her appeal. Because of the active lobbying and rescue efforts in many different arenas in Taiwan, China's National Security Bureau released Mr. Lin.

(Clearwisdom.net) On Saturday the November 8, Falun Gong practitioners in Ireland held a public hearing in the busiest part of central Dublin to expose Jiang Zemin's crime of genocide.
An Irish Falun Gong practitioner, Mr. Donal Maddock, presided over the hearing. He read the legal definition of genocide in "The Convention against Genocide" and detailed the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China that has been directed by Jiang Zemin. The various methods of the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China adopted by the Jiang regime constitute his crime. These methods include illegal imprisonment, brainwashing, illegal forced labor, torture, rape, persecuting practitioners to death, and abuse of psychiatric medicine. To date, practitioners have verified that over 800 Falun Gong practitioners have died in the persecution.
During the hearing, Zhao Ming, a Falun Gong practitioner who has personally experienced persecution and torture in China, detailed the cruel treatment he was forced to endure. Zhao Ming said in his testimony, "In the labor camp, all tortures and cruel punishments carried out by the police are simply attempts to force Falun Gong practitioners to renounce their cultivation practice. My personal experience showed that the persecution towards Falun Gong is not due to any political reason or any illegal conduct of Falun Gong practitioners. It is purely a persecution of belief and human rights."
"I had been sent to different cities, different detention centers, prisons for drug addicts, and labor camps during the persecution in China. All these places carry out the same policy of persecution. My personal experience shows that the persecution of Falun Gong in China is not a regional problem or the result of illegal behavior from individual policemen, but a national terrorist program that has been directed by the highest authority and carried out by government agencies at different levels nationwide."

Falun Gong practitioner, Guangyu Jiang, described his experience of being persecuted. He was forced to give up his successful career and live in another country. He was an actor in China, and had played an important role in the famous series, The Yong Zheng Dynasty. He was illegally detained because he appealed for Falun Gong and was later forced to leave China. Now he is working in a petrol station in Ireland.
Irish practitioner, Mr. Gerald O'Connor gave an account of how he was threatened, beaten, and tortured by Chinese police after appealing for Falun Gong in Beijing.
Ms. Dongxue Dai described the experiences of her two sisters and one brother, who were all detained in China.
Mr. Bao Zhu introduced the situations of the overseas Irish students, Mr. Feng Liu and Ms Fang Yang, who are still being persecuted in China.
Ms. Maria McMullan summed up the situation of women and children in the persecution of Falun Gong in China.
Mr. Colm Quinn concluded the hearing by describing how the persecution has been extended to Ireland. In Ireland, there have been two cases of Falun Gong practitioners' homes being ransacked. In the first case, equipment used to copy truth clarification videos and a television set were stolen. The bedrooms were thoroughly ransacked, but no cash was stolen. The second case occurred after a gathering of Falun Gong practitioners. The house was thoroughly searched, but no valuables or cash was taken. The Chinese Embassy also sent materials slandering Falun Gong to Irish politicians.

Overall, the people of Dublin warmly responded to the hearing. Many of them voiced their concern about the ongoing persecution, stopped to listen and also asked for Falun Gong materials.

During the activity, as well as letting more people know the truth about Falun Gong, practitioners made good use of the opportunity to study the Fa and send forth righteous thoughts together, as well as exchange experiences with one another. Through this activity, the practitioners deeply felt Dafa's magnificence and the importance of holistic improvement together with the urgency of clarifying the facts to people.

For about five hours, Dafa's beautiful music and practitioners peaceful, tranquil performances attracted many passersby. An elderly English man came to our desk. After looking at the materials about the persecution of Dafa practitioners in China, he started crying. While reading the materials, he said repeatedly: "The Chinese government should not have done this. That's not right."
2. A Chinese girl
One Chinese girl was waiting for someone in front of a monument near the practitioners' demonstration. She was reluctant to accept the truth-clarification materials initially, but after some time she was seen quietly reading an English Dafa flyer. A practitioner took the initiative to approach her and strike up a conversation with her about practitioners' experiences in cultivation. As she continued to talk, the girls defensive attitude disappeared and she started to ask the practitioner questions about Falun Gong.
3. Fortunate people who do not want to miss their opportunities
After reading the truth-clarification materials for some time, one middle-aged Chinese man said to a practitioner: I am in a rush to do something, but I'll be back again. An hour later, he came back pushing a baby carriage with his wife. The husband took the truth-clarification materials happily, while the wife greeted a practitioner. The wife had already met this practitioner at a Chinese mid-autumn festival gathering and had received some truth-clarification materials then.
Seeing a Chinese youngster standing nearby watching the exercise demonstration, a practitioner approached him and greeted him. This youngster warmly introduced himself, saying that he had just arrived from Singapore and had met Dafa practitioners there, so he understood that Falun Dafa is good and the Chinese regime's crackdown on Falun Gong is wrong.
4. People who understand the facts of Falun Gong
The Chinese people who stopped to learn the facts about Falun Gong were shocked after they saw the photos of practitioners from mainland China who have suffered persecution. Some said that they had never seen anything like it and could hardly believe that Falun Gong practitioners have been enduring such brutal persecution. Before the activities concluded, all of the practitioners sent forth righteous thoughts together. During this time, a group of people were watching attentively. They later came over to ask questions about Dafa, others asked for flyers, and still others wanted to sign their names on the petition to rescue practitioners' family members.
