May 13th is "World Falun Dafa Day." Falun Gong practitioners all over the world are celebrating this solemn occasion in their own ways. This is especially the case for practitioners outside China, who are jubilantly celebrating this wonderful day, some of them through song and dance.
Someone may ask, "Falun Gong practitioners in China are suffering brutal persecution, how can you celebrate? Isn't it odd and unreasonable to sing and dance?"
Not so! Falun Dafa has been spread widely all over the world. We celebrate for the sentient beings in heaven and earth. To deny the evil, we will definitely sing and dance!
Do you still remember when Jiang issued the order to suppress Falun Gong, he arrogantly clamored, "I don't believe that the Communist Party can't defeat Falun Gong." However, several weeks ago in Germany, he feared Falun Gong to the point of paranoia. He feared seeing yellow clothing, feared seeing blue clothing, feared seeing people erecting their single palms in front of their chest, and feared seeing people of Asian descent. Who has got the upper hand? It is quite clear. Isn't this worth to celebrating?
Do you still remember when China News Agency's slanderous propaganda deceived so many people into misunderstanding Falun Gong, and even worse, they unconsciously participated in persecuting Falun Gong. Then Falun Gong practitioners clarified the truth to the public to give them a chance to be saved. How many people were moved by the great compassion and forbearance demonstrated by Falun Gong practitioners? Falun Gong's truth-clarifying videos have been broadcast one after another on the state-controlled propaganda network. Falun Gong practitioners' courage has won so many people's respect. Isn't this worth celebrating?
During dozens of years of tyranny, the Communist Party has been seizing and killing people at will. If anyone became the target of the Party, this person was doomed to be miserable, and could only wait and hope for their innocence to be redressed. At present, the violence and deception that the Party has depended on have lost their power before the peaceful Falun Gong practitioners. Don't Falun Gong practitioners deserve to be admired?

A lone Western Falungong protestor flew a banner in a demonstration on Tiananmen Square Monday, the 10th anniversary of the first public introduction of the Buddhist-based spiritual practice in China.
The man sat under a lamppost on the vast plaza in central Beijing for about 20 to 30 minutes when exactly at 2:00 pm (0600 GMT) he got up and walked to the middle of the square, pulled out a banner and shouted a slogan, according to an AFP reporter who witnessed the protest.
He was immediately tackled by three uniformed police officers in a matter of seconds. One of the officers moved so fast that he fell to the ground. [...]
He is believed to be Martial Bachoffner, 34, a French national living in Montreal who travelled to Beijing for the first time last week.
Bachoffner had said Sunday he planned to protest on the square to mark the 10th anniversary of the first-ever Falungong conference held in China.
"Everyday some practitioner in China is tortured to death by the Chinese government. We have to do something because people are killed for believing in Falungong," Bachoffner told AFP, explaining why he wanted to protest.

HONG KONG (AP) Falun Gong followers in Hong Kong celebrated the 10th anniversary of their spiritual movement on Monday with marches, meditation and demands that Beijing stop suppressing practitioners in mainland China.
"We cause no harm," said Lam Chau-ping, a 35-year-old housewife who joined 200 Falun Gong members in a demonstration near the territory's scenic Victoria Harbor. "Beijing's crackdown is completely unreasonable."
They used their bodies to form three Chinese characters meaning "Falun Gong is good."

This is in reply to your letter of January 11,2002, addressed to my predecessor concerning the December 28 New Year's exhibition at the Embassy of the People's Republic of China. I regret the delay in replying to you.
When I was still Chairman of SCFATT, I met with some of the people who had been at the events, and I agree with you that we must make clear our concerns. I understand that the events of December 28 were reported to the police and that a police investigation is under way. In addition, departmental officials have brought the concerns of Canadian Falun Gong practitioners to the attention of the Chinese Embassy.
In meeting with senior Chinese leaders and during regular dialogue with Chinese officials, Canada has consistently underlined the concern of many Canadians regarding reports of the mistreatment of Falun Gong practitioners.
Prime Minister Chretien intervened strongly on human rights during the Team Canada visit to China in February 2001, and he again raised Canadian human rights concerns during his visit to Shanghai in October 2001. In a recent meeting with the Chinese Foreign Minister, Minister Manley raised continuing Canadian concerns about human rights in China, including freedom of spiritual practice. Human rights were also raised during the January 2001 visit to Canada of the Chinese Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs, Wang Guangya, and during the visit to China in December 2001 of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affair.

Thank you for contacting me regarding the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners and the letter to President Bush initiated by Representatives Gilman and Brown. I am pleased to inform you that I signed the letter sent to President Bush prior to his recent visit to China.
Like you, I am concerned about the repression of religious expression and other human rights in China, including Falun Gong. Falun Gong is a practice that combines meditation and exercise with a doctrine loosely rooted in Buddhist and Taoist teaching. Following a peaceful protest in Beijing of about 10,000 practitioners in April 1999, the ruling Communist Party banned the practice of Falun Gong. Over the past few years, violence against Falun Gong practitioners has become systematic. Thousands of Chinese citizens suffer torture and maltreatment in China's prisons and labor camps for their practice of Falun Gong.
As you know, while in China President Bush spoke at Tsinghua University. His speech, which emphasized religious freedom and human rights, was carried live on Chinese television. Unfortunately, Chinese authorities censored the printed text. I regret that the Chinese government chose to exercise censorship, despite the fact that President Bush's speech did not specifically mention the treatment of Falun Gong practitioners.
It may also interest you to know that, just prior to the trip, over 40 Western practitioners of Falun Gong were detained by police in Beijing while peacefully protesting in Tiananmen Square on behalf of Falun Gong practitioners in China. Five people from North Carolina were among that number. Fortunately, within a few hours, the detainees were escorted to the airport and sent home,
I appreciate the benefit of your views in this matter, and I will continue doing all I can to expand religious freedom and human rights in China.

Over the long course of history, man's life is as ephemeral as a blink of eye. In the boundless expanse of the vast universe, man's wisdom is as insignificant as a speck of dust. Many wise people have been searching for the essence of eternity of life...
On May 13, 1992, Falun Dafa was first introduced to the public. The founder, Mr. Li Hongzhi, introduced the great law of Buddha cultivation, Falun Dafa, to the public, disclosed the mysteries of life and pointed out an eternal path of returning to oneself. Up until July 1999, during the first seven years in public, Falun Dafa and its founder, Mr. Li Hongzhi, received many proclamations and much support in China. Newspapers, radios and TV in China interviewed Mr. Li Hongzhi and Falun Dafa practitioners many times and reported positively the huge benefit of Falun Dafa on physical health and restoration of morality. At the end of seven years, the number of Falun Dafa practitioners in China reached about 100 million. Genuine practitioners were amazed by the profundity and intricacy of Falun Dafa.
In May 1995, Mr. Li Hongzhi was invited to give a lecture in Sweden. The era of Falun Dafa's spreading outside of China thus began. This has sparked greater interest towards the splendor of Chinese wisdom and civilization in many countries and has gained great international acclaim. In merely ten years, Falun Dafa has spread in more than 60 countries and regions in the world. About 100 million people practice it. In North America, many Falun Dafa practitioners are highly educated, productive members of society with Masters or PhD degrees. In Asia, Falun Dafa has great numbers of practitioners in more than 10 countries and regions. In Taiwan alone, there are 100,000 practitioners. In Europe, there are Falun Dafa group exercise sites in more than 20 countries. Most of practitioners there are Westerners. In South America and Africa, Falun Dafa is becoming more and more popular.
Falun Dafa is like a clear spring. Wherever it goes, people find their hearts becoming more compassionate and morality being upgraded. The main text of Falun Dafa's teachings - Zhuan Falun - has been translated into more than 20 different languages and has been published around the world. The principles of Falun Dafa, "Truth-Benevolence-Forbearance," have been recognized by many people as the way that people all over the world should follow. It is not surprising that many have said, "Falun Dafa belongs to the whole world."
Bringing us better health, Falun Dafa also teaches us to have a kinder heart and a better understanding of the value of life.
The world needs "Truth-Benevolence-Forbearance"; everyone needs "Truth-Benevolence-Forbearance."
The most sacred and magnificent journey of Falun Dafa over the last ten years has left for us a most magnificent day to celebrate -- May 13, the day that Falun Dafa was first introduced to the public.

Toronto, May 12 -- Monday, May 13 will kick off the Canada Falun Dafa Festival (May 13-May 20). Cities across Canada are geared up to host a weeklong series of events! (See Toronto's events schedule next page) Cities worldwide will hold celebratory events on May 13th to celebrate World Falun Dafa Day, and the 10th anniversary of Falun Dafa's introduction to the public.
Toronto's May 13th Celebration will be held at Nathan Phillips Square. This annual multi-cultural spectacular has become a staple in Toronto. Performances from a wide variety of community based performers; West African drumming, Dancers from Africa, Europe and South America not to mention some of fantastic Chinese cultural performances, Martial arts and Falun Gong exercise demonstrations, and more.
Falun Dafa celebrations are renowned for their gigantic festive displays of hundreds of balloons big and small the largest of which is 4 meters wide and 6 meters high! Come take a photo of the huge colorful banners and this year will feature a stunning paper windmill arrangement spelling out the words "Falun Dafa." On a more somber note there will be hundreds of paper cranes folded to commemorate the lost lives of Falun Gong practitioners during the persecution. One hundred doves will be released during the ceremony to symbolizing humanity's need for peace and justice.
Speakers include: MPP George Smitherman, City Counselors Norm Kelly, Bas Balkissoon. We will also announce proclamations, proclaiming May Falun Dafa Month in cities and towns throughout Canada and resolutions condemning China's unjust persecution of Falun Gong.

Toronto's Falun Dafa Festival is organised by an events committee of volunteers with the support of the City of Toronto. Many of the events most dedicated volunteers are practitioner of Falun Dafa, a traditional exercises and meditation practice that takes Truth-Compassion-Tolerance as its guiding principles. Falun Dafa practitioners in China, who have peacefully and courageously preserved these principles while suffering brutal persecution, have inspired tremendous support from and people around the world and their governments.

1. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Detained Practitioners Resist the Persecution with Their Righteous Thoughts
My mother, a retired professor of Jilin University, is 67 years old. Because she firmly cultivates Dafa and clarifies the truth to people, she was abducted on February 9, 2002 and forced to attend a brainwashing class in Changchun City. On April 16, she was sentenced to 2 years in a forced labor camp. Currently she is being detained in Heizuizi Women's Prison. When my sister visited her at the prison, she heard the following report from my mother.
Among the practitioners detained in Heizuizi Women's Prison there was one who participated in the great deed of clarifying the truth through a cable TV network on March 5, 2002. As a result, the prison guards brutally tortured this practitioner and they put cuffs and shackles on her. All other Dafa practitioners in the prison went on a hunger strike to protest the inhumane torture. After 8 days, the police finally took the cuffs and shackles off of the practitioner. After having been on a hunger strike for 8 days, my mother was still glowing with health, manifesting the mighty power of Dafa.
2. [Chongqing City, Sichuan Province] It Is Believed That Two Work Units Played TV and Radio Programs Clarifying the Truth of Falun Gong
A taxi driver told a practitioner that a truth-clarifying program was played on the closed circuit TV of No. 18 Metallurgic General Contractors Company. The taxi driver's wife watched the program. The driver also said that he picked up some people who work for Chongqing Daily News, who told him that some people recently used the radio station at Chongqing University to broadcast some programs clarifying the truth of Falun Gong.
3. [Kedong County, Heilongjiang Province] Seven Dafa Practitioners Were Arrested
Individuals carrying out the persecution in Kedong County, Heilongjiang Province have started another round of illegal arrests of local practitioners. It is believed that some practitioners have been arrested and the homes of some practitioners have been ransacked. According to inside news coming from Kedong County Police Department, seven practitioners were arrested. The illegal arrests are still happening.
4. [Chongqing City, Sichuan Province] Twenty Senior Dafa Practitioners Illegally Sent to Xishanping Forced Labor Camp
Xue Jihong is a 64-year-old Dafa practitioner and was illegally sentenced to 2 years in a forced labor camp in July 2001. Xue is now detained in Xishanping Forced Labor Camp (located in Beipei District, Chongqing City). In March 2002, when Xue's family members went to visit him, his physical condition was still not bad. Yet two days later, the labor camp called Xue's family members by phone telling them to go and visit Xue. At the time of the visit, Xue could not walk by himself. Two guards helped him to walk to the visiting area. Knowing that Xue had obviously been tortured, his family members were in deep sorrow.
Since 1999, more than 20 practitioners who are over 60 years old have been detained in Xishanping Forced Labor Camp. Sending people over 60 years old or people who are not capable of physical labor to forced labor camps is against the labor re-education laws and regulations of China.

5. [Chongqing City, Sichuan Province] Dafa Practitioners Detained in Maojiashan Female Forced Labor Camp Unfurl Banners
On May 13, 2001, female Dafa practitioners detained in Maojiashan Female Forced Labor Camp unfurled banners that read, "Falun Gong is good," and "Falun Dafa is a righteous cultivation way." This great deed of the practitioners shocked the evil.
May 13 is World Falun Dafa Day. Although closely monitored by inmates, the female practitioners inside the labor camp made the banners under their quilts. They used clothes and quilt covers to make the banners and wrote or embroidered characters with pencil lead or needles. Inside the labor camp, the characters shocked the evil. The effect was as if the evil had been struck by the sword of justice.
When the practitioners unfurled the banner in the labor camp, the female guards were both furious and scared. They teamed up with some inmates to beat the practitioners. Later on, practitioners Zhou Zhonghong, Yang Mingqun, Peng Xiuling, Huang Jianjun, Zou Zhangrong, Wu Yanfang, Zhang Guizhen, Li Yuqiong and Zhang Zhenying were hung up in the air by handcuffs for 7 days. The practitioners were also not allowed food. Practitioner He Suqun was tortured in this manner for 2 weeks.
In December 2001, practitioner Hu Yali, Li Li, Liu Ling, and Zhang Zhenying were tortured for refusing to wear the labor camp's uniform. The guards beat, handcuffed, and hung them up (during the period in which they were hung, practitioners were not allowed any food) for 10 days. As a result of the prolonged torture, Zhang Zhenying's feet were paralyzed, so she was released in January 2002.

6. [Beian City, Heilongjiang Province] Police "Post Rewards" in Trying to Arrest Practitioners
On the night of April 17, 2002, the police of Beian City started wantonly arresting Dafa practitioners. By now, over 20 practitioners have been arrested and more than 10 practitioners were forced to become homeless to avoid being arrested. Practitioner Xu Xiaowei and Zhang Qiuling were arrested while they were distributing truth-clarifying materials in November 2001. The two practitioners were sentenced to 2 years in jail. The police posted awards of 5,000 to 10,000 Yuan [Chinese dollar. The average monthly salary of an urban worker in China is about 500 Yuan, but only 200 Yuan for a rural worker.] for help in arresting practitioners Zhao Hongjun, his wife Chen Qing, Li Yuanyuan, Sun Daoying, Gao Xiaowei, and Jiang Zhigang. The police conducted a thorough search while trying to arrest these practitioners. They also harassed these practitioners' friends and relatives and monitor their phones.
7. [China] The Family Members Are Forced to Sign "Contracts": "If You Do Not Monitor Them Well, You Will Go to Jail."
The practitioners released from forced labor camps, detention centers and brainwashing classes do not really have freedom. In one area, the police stations, street community offices and their work units monitor the released practitioners. They are told not to leave town. Some neighbors are ordered to monitor the practitioners. Some have said that these neighbors are being paid to monitor the practitioners. In other cases, several colleagues from the work unit monitor one practitioner. If the practitioners do anything that violates the persecutor's "rules," the people that are monitoring are punished. Some practitioners' children are forced to sign "contracts" with their work units. If their parents violate the "rules," they will be fired or even sent to jail along with their parents. These practitioners' children are all forced to stay at home watching their parents, which means that they cannot work. Jiang's regime tramples the laws and persecutes benevolent people.

(Clearwisdom.net) I went to Beijing for Fa-rectification again on July 15, 2000. However, I was arrested at the train station and was sent to a labor camp. In September, I was sent to Masanjia Forced Labor Camp. The following is what I've seen in Masanjia and how deceitful the personnel there are.
It was said that some foreign reporters would interview with the Female Second Camp on March 16, 2001 and that they would videotape. The labor camp started to prepare for it several days in advance. They would set up the meeting room and drilled the squad. After breakfast on that day, March 16, the labor camp police forced us to move our bedding out to "air in the sun." Except those who did the drill, they drove the rest of us, altogether more than 60 people, away in a van to the juvenile's yard saying that they were going to play us a movie. In the morning they let us walk freely in the yard, and in the afternoon they played a fuzzy movie on the wall, which was not clear enough to watch. They didn't take us back until 5 o'clock in the afternoon.
The people that stayed in the drill told us that they were exhausted. Many reporters came and videotaped them for a long time and from many angles. Among them there were Chinese reporters who even told them to dance, do tug-of-war, and play cards and chess after the drill. It was an absolute lie. If everything were fair and humane, why would they tell us to move all the bedding out and hide people? Why would they remove the name cards on the beds, take down the Small Red Flag Column (the Column has everyone's names on it) and let the foreign reporters see only 1/3 of the captives? Thus it can be seen that, in everything they do, they fear being exposed.
The labor camp doesn't allow practitioners who firmly cultivate Dafa to sleep. There was a college student Wang Xueli in the first squad. She was called away by the police in the evening, but was crippled when she returned at midnight. It was said that she was beaten to disability, but the evil police didn't allow her to tell anyone, threatening to prolong her term if she did. They brainwashed her all day long, forcing her to study those materials for "re-education." There was a teacher Sun Sujie in the first squad, who was in her 50s. She was forced to squat while holding both hands up high all day long. Sometimes the collaborators [former practitioners who went astray due to torture and brainwashing] even beat her. (Clearwisdom.net) Hebei Province's Cangzhou City "610 Office" [An agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems] ordered people in the local police stations to persecute practitioners. Under the direct supervision of Security and Legal Committee Secretary Gong Caihua, policeman Wang Yixin and other fellow officers used all kinds of tools and techniques to torture Dafa practitioners. Among those detained, not a single person escaped the physical torture. Not long ago, 23-year-old female practitioner, Yang Mei, died as a result of torture. Starting in mid-April, police re-arrested many practitioners who were home on medical parole and those released after a hunger strike.
The most severely abused and mistreated was Mr. Cheng Rulin, a practitioner from Sunzheng Village, Luqiao Township/Huanghua City. Huanghua City Police Department personnel twice illegally detained Mr. Cheng and forced him to pay 15,000 Yuan [the average monthly income in rural China is about 200 Yuan, or $23.50] as penalty. In 2001, he was forced into hiding and subsequently his name appeared on the Cangzhou police's "wanted" list. Because of a phone conversation with Mr. Cheng Rulin, his younger brother, who is not a practitioner, was forced to pay 50,000 Yuan to the police to avoid arrest. His family went deep into debt and they are struggling to make ends meet.
Nine months have passed since July 2001 when Cangzhou City police arrested Mr. Cheng during a truth clarification effort. Police used various torture techniques on him. For instance, he was tied to a "Tiger Bench" [A torture device. Illustration can be viewed at:

The police would shock him with electric batons, dig into his ribs with their fingernails. All these tortures achieved nothing. Mr. Cheng Rulin did not speak a word that the police wanted to hear. The angry policemen suspended him by handcuffs on a steel pipe, just high enough that his toes barely touched the floor. They also tied him onto the torture device called a "death bed." [The four limbs of the practitioner are stretched out and tied to the four corners of an icy-cold metal bed] Additionally, they also handcuffed him in a special way: to the back with one arm above the shoulder and one below. He also had to wear shackles. To protest the inhuman treatment, Mr. Cheng Rulin went on a hunger strike. Recently he was rushed to a hospital due to a tuberculosis-like condition. He was coughing up blood. Even during his hospital stay, four to five policemen watched him and his shackles were not removed. Due to Mr. Cheng's critical condition, the hospital could not provide effective treatment. Fearing he might die in the hospital, they discharged him.
Not wanting to take responsibility for his life, police sent Mr. Cheng Rulin home the night of May 2, 2002. Although they cared nothing for his well-being, they did not forget to send people to watch the critically ill Mr. Cheng Rulin. The next day, when fellow villagers saw a severely tortured Mr. Cheng Rulin they said angrily, "What crime did he commit to deserve this? What they did was worse than the actions of thugs and bandits!" Cheng's family members took photos as evidence and demanded justice. Mr. Cheng Rulin continued his hunger strike and asked that the government stop the persecution. Cangzhou City police personnel could care less about the request from Mr. Cheng's family and ignored the plea. Instead, they intensified the effort to intimidate, mistreat, oppress, threaten and abuse practitioners by sending thirty some police cars and over a hundred police officers and government employees to the village. They surrounded the whole village 24 hours a day and checked everyone that they saw. Falun Gong practitioners were not allowed to leave the village. Villagers' lives and daily routines were severely disturbed because each person was interrogated when he or she leaves the village for work. Falun Gong practitioners' basic right for survival has been abolished.

On the night of April 23, 2002, policemen from Liangwa Town, Anping County, Hebei Province took an electric baton and invaded a practitioner's home. They beat the practitioners that were watching Dafa lecture videos so badly that one practitioner almost died. After that, the policemen kidnapped the practitioners and extorted money from them. Even now, some of these practitioners are still being illegally detained.
In Houpu Village, Liangwa Town, Anping County, Hebei Province there have been over 10 practitioners who have gone to Beijing to validate Dafa since July 20, 1999. Some of them have been illegally detained and illegally fined on more than one occasion. Their homes were ransacked and they became destitute. A son of one practitioner was dismissed from college due to his father practicing Dafa. The county "610 Office" (an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political or judicial systems) and the police station in the town often disturb practitioners. The practitioners have done their best to clarify the truth to ordinary people and the people who have been directly involved in the persecution. For over two years, the practitioners have overcome many obstacles, continuously exchanged Fa rectification experiences together and sometimes studied the Fa together.
On the night of April 23, 2002, the practitioners in the village were watching a Dafa video and somebody reported them. The "610 Office" in Anping County sent five cars carrying over 20 policemen. The evil policemen forced the practitioners into the cars. The practitioners did not cooperate with the policemen and sent forth righteous thoughts. So the policemen beat them badly, shocked them with electric batons and kicked them. The terrible shouts due to the beatings woke up the ordinary people in the neighborhood. Some people with just hearts tried to stop the policemen and were then threatened by the policemen. After two hours, the practitioners were dragged and carried into the cars. The policemen did not even release the five-year-old boy that was the son of a practitioner. Two couples were taken away and were forced to leave their kids at home without anyone to take care of them. They have captured 13 practitioners and children. The practitioner Zhao Qiushuang almost died after being beaten and shocked with an electric baton. He was sent to the hospital.
A day later, two old female practitioners were released after being illegally fined between 2,000 and 5,000 Yuan (500 Yuan is the monthly salary for an average Chinese worker). Five practitioners were illegally detained. Practitioner Zhao Qiushuang was taken back to her home. Zhao was so weak that she had to be taken care of by her family. Her husband is still being illegally detained.

(Clearwisdom.net) Since July 20, 1999, some police officers from the police station and detention center in Zhangbei County, Hebei Province broke into Falun Gong practitioners' homes without showing a search warrant. Without legal procedures, they confiscated family property, searched bodies and arrested practitioners. They sentenced practitioners and took them to forced labor camps without going through any legal procedures. At night, they not only interrogated practitioners, but they also hired some jobless social hoodlums to brutally beat them. Some policemen threatened the female practitioners who refused to write a statement renouncing Falun Gong, saying, "We will strip off your clothes and lock you up with male inmates if you don't give up practicing."
The detention center also deprived the practitioners' relatives the right to visit. The bureau chief said, "None of the practitioners are allowed to be visited by their families." Changbei County is piercingly cold in the winter. However, the leaders of the detention center did not allow practitioners to use the cotton-filled quilts, leather bed covers, or blankets their families sent to them.
The practitioners clarified the truth about Falun Gong to the center's chief Fan Yanbin. However, he not only ignored the truth, but also whipped the practitioners with a leather belt. Recently he suffered from retribution. Half of his body is in pain, he has lost mobility, and his hand shakes when holding a pen. Only after this, did he begin to show some restraint.
Li Dianxian, the secretary of the Political and Judiciary Committee in Zhangbei, was "complimented" and "rewarded" by the upper authorities because he persecuted Falun Gong practitioners.
In November of 2000, Ms. Wang Yuemei was sentenced to one year of forced labor because she wrote a letter to the county leaders to clarify to them the truth about Falun Gong. To this day, even though her imprisonment term has been illegally extended for more than three months, she is still imprisoned in the detention center of Zhangbei because she refused to write the statement to give up practicing. Her child was forced to quit school due to lack of money.
On June 11, 2001, five policemen arrested practitioner Ms. Zhang Fengying at home without cause. They searched her body, ransacked her home, and forced her to acknowledge that it was her who asked other practitioners to hang up banners. Although she suffered torture several times, she did not say a word. After being illegally imprisoned for half a year, she remained steadfast in her belief in Dafa. In December 2001, the police did not inform her family, nor did they go through any legal procedures, but secretly escorted Zhang Fengying to Goayang Detention Center in Bao Ding City.
Dafa practitioner Ms. Peng Cuiling was arrested because she hung up Dafa banners. After being tortured four times, she went on a hunger strike for one week to request to be released with a verdict of not guilty. The police said, "As long as you have one breath, you must write the statement, otherwise we will not release you." Until now, she has been illegally imprisoned in the Zhangbei County Detention Center for nine months, and has not been released yet.

1. Falun Dafa practitioner Liu Haikang, a forty-eight-year-old male, was illegally arrested by the police. In the public order section of the Songling District Police Department, Section Deputy Zhang Weidong and Police Officer Wu Yawen, along with several others, extorted a confession from Liu Haikang by torturing him for several days. His health was so severely compromised that when he was later sent to the custodial center, the head of the center dared not let other practitioners or prisoners see him, and in the meantime, the head blocked the news from spreading. Because Liu Haikang refused to cooperate with the evil forces at the custodial center, the officials restrained him with shackles while they tortured him mercilessly. After being severely beaten on several different occasions, he was almost immobile as a result of the serious physical and mental abuses. But the savagery of the abusers could never shake this Falun Dafa practitioner's righteous belief and firm faith. Liu Haikang neither cooperated nor compromised with the evil forces, calling out, "Falun Dafa is good," "Falun Dafa will surely rectify everything." Meanwhile, he compassionately warned the wicked people, "Whoever persecutes Falun Dafa will be subject to retribution."
2. Female Falun Dafa practitioner Sun Chunhuan, forty years old, was illegally abducted by the police from her home and illegally detained for an extended period of time. Wu Yawen, an officer from the public order section, along with several others, beat and tortured her cruelly, often using electric batons, while she was detained. At the custody center, Sun Chunhuan firmly upheld Falun Dafa, refusing to yield to the persecution by the evil forces, so the police in charge locked her in shackles. Encouraged by their boss, they then hatched a plan to sentence her to a long term in jail. They opened a "court session" on April 15, during which Sun Chunhuan refused to cooperate with the evil forces and objected to the framed charge. When the so-called "witness," Xu Yawen, was called to testify against Sun Chunhuan, she stated for the court record that she had been forced to frame Sun Chunhuan when she was out of her right mind after being illegally tortured by the police for six days and nights. At that point the unscrupulous judge called a recess in court, later claiming that Sun was guilty anyway. On that same day the police arrested Xu Yawen because she had refused to give her false testimony. What has happened to her is unknown.
3. Falun Dafa practitioner Wang Xiulan, a sixty-six-year-old female, was illegally arrested at home for no reason and detained for one month. Because the police needed to meet an arrest quota, they detained her again two days before Spring Festival. Now the perpetrators are planning to sentence her to a four-year jail term.
4. Female Falun Dafa practitioner Fu Yanhua, age forty-seven, lives in Zhuangzhi Wood Yard in Songlin District. On December 29, 2001, while she was posting truth-telling materials, she was arrested and sent to the second police station in Songlin Town, where Station Chief Geng Jun humiliated her during her interrogation. With compassion, Fu told the police that enforcing the law as they did was really violating the law. Geng Jun's shame so enraged him that he lifted Fu up and threw her to the floor. Fu's head struck the arm of a sofa and her forehead swelled severely. After Geng Jun savagely punched and kicked her, another cop beat her in another room. After this torture, Geng Jun tried to force Fu to sign her name and make her put her fingerprint on a document renouncing Falun Dafa that they had prepared in advance. Because Fu refused to do so, Geng Jun called others to press Fu to the ground. As one policewoman held Fu's hair, others beat her and grabbed her hand to make the fingerprint by force. Still in a frenzy, they went on beating her until she fell to her knees and could no longer stand up. Fu's distorted face was swollen and bruised, and a handful of her hair had been yanked out.
The injuries to Fu's head were so severe that she suffered a cerebral concussion in the custodial center. She began to throw up and couldn't eat anything for days, during which she had great difficulty moving around. Wang, the director of the custodial center, threatened Fu not to tell anyone about the torture she suffered, and the police even forced her to do labor at that time. The symptoms of Fu's concussion worsened. She kept throwing up and losing consciousness and finally was unable to take care of herself any more. Her oppressors were afraid that she would die in their custody, so they released her three days later.
When Fu was first sent to the custody center, the police confiscated her cash and then refused to return it upon her release. Although she didn't eat anything, they charged her a 100 Yuan "food fee" and forced her relatives to pay a "bail" of 5,000 Yuan (the average monthly income in urban China is about 400 Yuan). After being released, as a result of her physical and mental injuries, Fu's health continued to decline, leaving her unable to care for herself.

Falun Dafa practitioner Yu Chunhua is a resident of Xiqugezhuang Village, Xiagezhuang County, Laixi City, Shangdong Province.
In September 2000, Yu Chunhua walked for nine days to Beijing to appeal for Dafa. After she was arrested, she was illegally detained for half a month before she was released. In October, Yu Chunhua was again taken away by police from the county police substation, without any reason. The police tried to force her to give up her belief in "Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance." She steadfastly refused to give in, and sat on the ground in the sitting meditation to show her determination. Policemen Zhang Chao and Zhang Shu kicked her legs, feet and arms quite hard, and used a red-hot hook to burn her feet.
Yu Chunhua was arrested and released many times. In 2001 on the 17th day of the first month in the lunar year, in order to clarify the truth to the world's people and the government, she walked to Beijing one more time to appeal for Dafa. She has not come back from this trip, and her whereabouts are still unknown.
(Clearwisdom.net) As Spring arrived in March, while everything was being renewed, Changchun was reduced to a near police state. Police vehicles were everywhere, arresting countless Falun Gong practitioners and sending them off to be tortured.
On March 5, eight channels of the Changchun Cable network broadcast programs exposing the lies composed by the Chinese authorities and revealed the truth about the brutal persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. After the broadcast, the police stationed themselves at each corner of the city, questioning and searching passersby. Uniformed and plainclothes police were everywhere. They conducted door-to-door searches, combing the city for Falun Gong practitioners. Even I, who did not practice Falun Gong, was also stopped while walking on the street. They demanded that I curse Dafa and Mr. Li Hongzhi. If I cursed them, I would be released, otherwise, I would be taken away. I am an educated, dignified person, I would not curse people, nor would I follow others to do things against my will. Therefore, together with many other people who also refused, I was forcefully pushed into a police van and sent to a place that had no sign indicating that it was a police department. The "staff" there did not wear police uniforms. Every staff member looked like a hired thug. After we got out of the police van, they slapped us in the face and ordered us to tell them our names. They used every imaginable torture to force us to tell them whether we had participated in the March 5 TV incident.
A woman with the surname of Zheng did not cooperate with them, so the police handcuffed both of her hands behind her back. They forcefully pulled her arms upward and pushed her head down in between her legs, so that she could hardly breathe. They repeated this torture three times, putting the woman in great agony. After the torture, she could not straighten out her arms, and her legs were severely injured from being kicked. She was also slapped in the face countless times.
Then it was my turn to be interrogated. I hastily explained that I did not practice Falun Gong. The interrogator said angrily while cursing, "If you don't practice Falun Gong, why would you come here to cause trouble?" I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. I said, "It is not me who came here to look for trouble, but it was you who kidnapped me here." The interrogator did not know what to say and became angry, and slapped me twice in the face.
In this way, after being beaten and interrogated one by one, the few dozens of us were illegally imprisoned.
During the imprisonment, I found out that this place was the Changchun Tiebei "610" brainwashing class, a temporary institution unlawfully set up under Jiang's orders. It was said that such institutions had been set up all over the country to carry out the persecution of Falun Gong. They claimed, "We are not afraid if someone dies here, we are not afraid of being charged. If someone were beaten to death, it is counted as suicide."
The people imprisoned here were a group of innocent Falun Gong practitioners. They suffered the cruel tortures everyday. The police tried to force them to give up their practice. I met some practitioners who were persecuted here:
Wang Xiuping, a woman in her sixties, was kidnapped from home and sent to the Changchun Daguang Detention Center. She went on a hunger strike for 15 days to protest the illegal kidnapping. Later she was transferred to the Changchun Heizuizi Female Forced Labor Camp, where the officials refused to accept her due to her critical health condition. In this situation, she should have been released or sent to the hospital for rescue, but the police sent her here instead. The thugs force-fed her everyday and refused to release her.
An elderly lady in her seventies, Tao Junying, was arrested for practicing Falun Gong. Because of her old age and rather weak physical condition, no other place would accept her. Because she did not write the so-called "Promise to break from Falun Gong", she was also detained here.
What was more horrible was that they did not release even those who were seriously ill. Yu Chunhai, in his sixties, suffered from cerebral thrombosis and became paralyzed. But upon hearing that he practiced Falun Gong, the police arrested him from home and sent him here to extract a confession by means of torture.
A woman whose name that I didn't know was unreasonably arrested while walking on the street. She went on hunger strike to protest her arrest. After 10 days of hunger strike, her health was in a dire condition. The police wanted to release her but were afraid of having the situation here disclosed, so they gave her injections of some drug that was taken from Changchun Kaixuan Mental Hospital. After the injections, there were some serious effects on her brain. She suffered from amnesia, and she became unable to walk or talk. The woman was dragged out at some point, and no one knows her whereabouts.
A man with the surname of Tan had a kidney removed previously, and his other kidney was also injured due to the beatings and torture. He was often beaten and then pressed down on the ground and roughly force-fed.
Wang Tiegang, in his sixties, was tortured by Division One of the Municipal Police Station. They tied him to an iron chair for more than a night.
Bai Xiaodong, an instructor in the normal University, had already completed his term in a forced labor camp but was sent here afterwards.
Jiang Yaqin is from Lanjia Town. Her husband was illegally sentenced to a forced labor camp in Chaoyanggou. She was kidnapped here, leaving three children at home, the youngest only 7 year old.
Zeng Lingwen, a professor at Jilin University, Xiao Liu and Xu Shuxiang from Xinlicheng were sent here directly by the police for holding discussions.
There were many people whose names I didn't know.
I couldn't imagine that all these horrible things are happening in today's society. I did not know what "610" was or what a "brainwashing class" was in the past. Now I understand that "610" is an unlawful institution formed by Jiang, and the "brainwashing class" is actually an illegal organization. Those wicked people who used cruel tortures to force people to confess are actually the "people's police" in Division One of the Changchun Municipal Police Station.
I was finally released and found innocent. I want to ask Jiang: On the issue of persecuting Falun Gong, have you obtained consensus from the Party Central Committee, the national People's Congress, the Political Committee and the State Department? To maintain your own authority, you eliminate anyone who disagrees with you. You violate the Constitution, using your power to achieve your goals. This is exactly the root of the China's corruption.
The "610" brainwashing class is a blight in the human world, a demon's den under the sun.

During Chongqing's crack down on April 5, plain-clothed policemen secretly kidnapped Dafa practitioners and employed the following measures.
Around 6:30 p.m. on April 5, an avaricious gambler in my village reported me to the police. Afterwards I found out that over a dozen plain-clothed policemen had surrounded my house. A plain-clothed policeman pursued me while I was walking. I remembered Teacher's words, "...face the evil people with righteous thoughts at all times. No matter what the situation, do not cooperate with the evil's demands, orders, or what it instigates." ("Dafa Disciples' Righteous Thoughts are Powerful") I told him, "I do not know you, who are you?" The plain-clothed policeman replied, "I'm a police officer." I inquired, "If you're a police officer then why aren't you wearing a uniform? Let me see your police badge!" The policeman became nervous, and refused to show his ID. I confidently declared, "How can you detain me? Do you have a summons order? Do you have an arrest warrant issued by the court?" He panicked and replied, "no."
To attract a crowd, I loudly questioned the plain-clothed policeman, "You have neither a summons order nor an arrest warrant, so you have no right to detain me." The policeman confessed, "I've followed you for several days, you're name is [name omitted for safety to the practitioner]." I calmly explained, "I'm not [name omitted], you've got the wrong person." He insisted on arresting me, so I loudly called on my colleagues from work, as well as my family members, and over 100 people gathered around us. Fellow practitioners sent forth righteous thoughts as they passed, and I also emanated powerful righteous thoughts. The local housing official also arrived to prove that I wasn't [name omitted], and thus the difficult situation settled down. The plain-clothed policeman fled the scene, and the bystanders all said, "Just let it be, and have him apologize to you." I realized that it was a signal from Teacher, so I immediately called out to the chief of the plain-clothed policeman, "Stop!" The police chief was instantly immobilized and frozen in place. I admonished, "You are violating human rights. Aren't you violating the law in your actions, and using terrorist means to subdue people?" The police chief was aware of his misconduct, and politely apologized to me, "I'm sorry. We were wrong. I didn't instruct my fellow police officers well." At that time, the first plain-clothed policeman had long disappeared.
This incident has shaken my entire workplace. Over 20,000 of the workers' family members have awakened and recognized the persecution. Everyone disapproves of the police's illegal arrests and unlawful procedures, and some are even concerned about my safety. The people have awakened and are supporting Dafa. I feel happy for all those who have awakened.
(Clearwisdom.net) I am from Henan Province. In June 2001 I started traveling on the path of cultivation. The following are some of my cultivation experiences.
Before I obtained the Fa, I was diagnosed with some very severe and incurable brain diseases. When I heard this dreadful news I nearly fell apart. My sickness and the few thousand Yuan in medical bills had created burdens for my family, and my guilt worsened my condition. I couldn't eat or walk; I was paralyzed and waiting on my deathbed. With tears in their eyes, my family prepared the clothes for my departure. But in my heart I couldn't bear the thought of giving up my two young children. Who would take care of them? It is impossible to describe the feeling of knowing one is about to die yet helpless to do anything about it.
Shortly thereafter, my landlord introduced Falun Dafa to me. The odd thing is, I had always felt drowsy whenever I read, but that never happened to me when I was reading Zhuan Falun. So I continued reading until I finished it. The landlord later also taught me the exercise movements. Half a month later, a miracle happened: I could fall asleep, whereas before I had severe insomnia. I was also able to start eating and drinking again. I was gradually getting healthier. By then, I was convinced and I thought to myself, "This practice is miraculous! Someone who was 'sentenced to death' by the hospital is now recovering!" I just had to keep it up. So I practiced and read the book everyday. It wasn't long before my Tianmu (Celestial Eye) was opened, and I could then see some real manifestations in other dimensions. It was just as Teacher had described in Zhuan Falun. This strengthened my confidence in the cultivation practice. One day, I suddenly had a terrible headache. It felt as though my head were going to explode, and later it became numb. I enlightened that this was Teacher cleaning out my brain, and so I tolerated the pain. Before long it was cured. Starting in September 2001, I underwent huge karma-elimination. My body was in extreme pain, but I resolutely practiced the exercises. One day I saw a person descend from the sky and tap me on my shoulders and my back. At this point the pain instantly went away. By early 2002, my symptoms had completely disappeared without taking any form of medication.
I exclaimed to myself: Falun Dafa is indeed great! The Teacher is great! He pulled me away from death and gave me a new life. I simply cannot describe my gratitude toward Teacher with human words. I can only repay Him by cultivating and improving steadfastly. Those who defame Dafa--who are they to be so arrogant? Am I not a living example that validates Dafa? Isn't my experience a validation of "Dafa as a correct and true science, rather than preaching or idealism?"(from "Validation" Essentials For Further Advances ) And there are many other people who have undergone similar experiences. This is why even three years of persecution couldn't break the practitioners' faith, and the practitioners have instead become more steadfast and more mature.
Because I obtained the Fa late, I was in a state of personal cultivation in the beginning. I couldn't understand why people went to Beijing, gave out flyers and clarified the truth. Fellow practitioners told me, "We are practitioners during the Fa-rectification period; this is different from personal cultivation in the past. It's time for us to go out and clarify the truth and bring salvation to the sentient beings." Later, through Fa-study and Teacher's hints, I realized that there are a lot of people waiting for me to save them.
Now, I steadfastly clarify the truth at all times. I give out and post over a hundred truth-clarifying materials every day. Since I obtained the Fa late, I think I should double my efforts so that I can follow the process of Teacher's Fa-rectification. Sometimes I was easy on myself and didn't go out to clarify the truth for two days. Teacher's compassionate hints always encourage me to cultivate steadfastly. In everyday life the Teacher is very strict with me. Whenever I made trivial mistakes, He would make me "stumble" so I would learn my lesson.
Sometimes Teacher would reveal images that I am able to see at my current level. I saw with my Tianmu that the Gods in the heavens were looking down. Some would become happy when they saw their children doing well, and some would weep when they saw their children not doing so well. I also saw a place in the heavens where the names of those who had reached Consummation and those who cultivate extremely well were written. But the names are changing every day. Some names were written; some names that had been written were later erased. I realized that I have to continue on until the end. One day, after I finished meditating, I saw Teacher through my Tianmu. Teacher personally peeled some food for us and said, "Eat! How would one understand the relationship between Teacher and disciples? It is like the relationship between parents and children. You are like my children."
These are my experiences from less than a year of cultivation, written to share with others.

(Clearwisdom.net) We, a group of Falun Dafa practitioners as plaintiffs, have recently filed a civil lawsuit in the U.S. District Court in Washington, DC. The lawsuit, which has drawn much attention in American society, accuses the defendants, China's Ministry of State Security, Ministry of Public Security, China's Central Television (CCTV) and some individuals in the Chinese Embassy. The following are our understandings on the issues, based on the principle of the Fa.
1. Persecution Awareness -- Several Incidents:
Since the persecution against Falun Gong in China started, we have suffered the following forms of duress, oppression and abridgment of freedom:
Some of the above-mentioned incidents have been happening almost everyday since the persecution started, and we seem to have become somewhat used to it. Maybe we think what we have experienced is nothing, compared with what our fellow practitioners have suffered in China. No matter how small or big an incident may be, though, and no matter what excuses the perpetrators may have, persecution is persecution. No form of persecution against Dafa should exist! Even less should we silently accept such persecution and condone it.
Master said, "I reject all of the arrangements they've made, I don't recognize them." ("Fa-Lecture at the Conference in Florida, U.S.A.") "Do you know? I don't recognize at all this evil test arranged by the old forces."("Suggestion")
In this respect, overseas practitioners haven't done enough to expose the evil.
2. The foundation of our work with these lawyers is based on our righteous thoughts
In the process of looking for lawyers who are willing to help us, we clarified the truth to all the people we came across. Many people showed sympathy for the suffering we have endured and helped us in various ways.
After reading our materials, one lawyer commented: "Jiang's regime has extended the persecution in China into overseas areas and persecutes you in all segments with all kinds of means and at all levels, such as government agencies, the business sectors and the media. No foreign agency should be allowed to deprive American people of their constitutional rights on American soil. Your peaceful and serene practice is part of our lives. The persecution against you today could become the persecution against us tomorrow. In our present lifestyle it does not happen very often that we work for our true beliefs. Now we can see that you are good people who abide by the principle of 'Truth-Compassion-Tolerance.' We trust you and are willing to work for you."
The mutual understanding between us and our lawyers is based on our strong righteous thoughts. Their wisdom and talents are brought into full play in their work, which assists our Fa-rectification, supports righteousness and upholds justice, and also helps us in strengthening our confidence and decision-making in this detailed process. The lawyers have helped us gain much knowledge of law, enabling us to use the current law of the human world to restrain and strike at the evil.
Looking at everything from the standpoint of the Fa, we realize that we need to use the law of the human world with wisdom and creativity to stop the evil. If we cannot make breakthroughs in our understanding or if our righteous thoughts are not strong enough, it will directly impede or interrupt the lawyers' work.
The current lawsuit is filed under a federal statue called the "Racketeering Influence Corrupt Organizations Act." (RICO) The facts listed in the lawsuit clearly reveal the criminal pattern the defendants have adopted in their continuing, planned and deliberate violations of the law. The officially exposed crimes not only strike a heavy blow to the evil but also help the common people realize the threat and the damage the evil has brought to the whole society, including damage to freedom and to constitutional rights.
3. If we don't act, who will?
Lawsuits filed by the practitioners in Canada and by people in other places are examples of one of the ways to break through the old forces' arrangement during this Fa-rectification period.
If we have an inadequate understanding on this, the difficulties arranged by the old forces will hinder us. If our righteous thoughts are not strong enough, we might be tied down by the articles of law and might not successfully restrain the evil to the maximum extent.
Master said in the " Fa-Lecture at the Conference in Florida, U.S.A," "Of course, being able to do all these things well is inseparable from each of us, from each Dafa disciple's own cultivation and improvement. And that's why no matter how you've been persecuted, in difficult situations you've still been able to persevere in cultivating, persevere in studying the Fa, and keep a clear head. When a cultivator's mind departs from the Fa, the evil will find its way in. Seen with the human eye, people and everything else in the human world are three-dimensional. But in reality, all matter in humankind's entire dimension--be it flowers, grass, trees, human beings, the air, etc.--everything is made up of particles of that size (molecules). And in this layer of particles, everything, including the human body, is connected. When a person himself doesn't have righteous thoughts, all the bad things in the cosmos, or in the Three Realms, will flow around continually in the human body, and even when they stay there the person doesn't realize it. That's how people are manipulated; in other words, they manipulate people when these particles are able to connect with each other. So during the two years of persecution that you've been through, you have been able to persevere in your cultivation, make yourselves more and more clearheaded, and recognize ever more clearly the evilness of this persecution. So in other words, Fa-study truly is extremely important for a Dafa disciple."
Restraining the evil itself is to save the sentient beings. That is the reason why we write down what our families, our friends and ourselves have suffered during this persecution, in order to help people realize how evil the persecution is and how it affects the whole society. Every practitioner should write down his or her experiences. All the experiences put together will help the common people clearly realize how evil the persecution is.
"When you have all the people of the world and all the people of China see this evil drama for what it is, could the evil still have any effect? It will collapse." ("Fa-Lecture at the Conference in Florida, U.S.A.")
At the same time we suggest that practitioners overseas gather all the facts together and hand them to the relevant government authorities in your own country, for the record and further investigation, and in full preparation for punishing the evil within the framework of the law.

A fellow Dafa practitioner once said, "As long as I can do well for one day, I'll make an effort to do well for that one day. As long as I can do well for ten thousands years, I'll make an effort to do well for that ten thousands years." His "Truth, Compassion, Tolerance" touched my heart, and moved me to tears.
The thought of writing experience sharing articles on Clearwisdom had never crossed my mind. I always thought that my cultivation was not good and my understanding was not as profound as others. This time I am writing an article for Clearwisdom because I now realize that writing down one's experience and understanding is something Dafa disciples should do in the Fa-rectification period. We should not wait, nor should we rely on others. Fa-rectification disciples are one body, and my understanding and experience may be helpful to my fellow practitioners.
In the past, when I went out to distribute flyers, my mind was filled with fear. If I waited until my xinxing became a little more calm and stable before I went out, then things would go smoothly. When passing out flyers, my mind was not thinking about anything. Because I was not thinking about anything, I did not feel any fear. Fear did not exist for me. Once, when I was shopping at a wholesale market, I gave somebody a truth clarification flyer face to face. I did not feel any fear, and did pretty well.
However, when a practitioner in our area was followed recently, my attachment of fear was completely exposed. The thought of fear entered my mind whenever I was planning to go out to distribute flyers. I thought about Teacher's words, "The Fa can break all attachments." I decided to study the Fa! However, I failed to study anything no matter how hard I tried, as all I could think about was running into somebody when distributing flyers. My imagination and suspicions were all deviated substances needing to be eliminated. The more I thought about it, the more fearful I was. Lacking a righteous mentality, I failed to do a good and consistent job when I went out to distribute flyers. I even ran into an acquaintance of mine. After I got home, the feeling of fear surfaced again, so I sent forth righteous thoughts around the clock. I believe in the power of righteous thoughts and in Teacher. Therefore, I am now safe.
A fellow practitioner once published an article on Clearwisdom, stating that the Fa-rectification verses should not be used as protection if one has the attachment of fear. I think that what she said is not wrong, for that was what she had enlightened to at her level. However, I think Dafa is all encompassing, and I would like to talk a little about my understanding from a different angle. Fa-rectification verses are Fa granted to us by Teacher. Teacher said, "although this book appears to be black ink on white paper, behind every word there are infinite dimensions at different levels, and even Buddhas, Daos, and Gods of different dimensions manifest themselves behind the words." (from the Fa-Lecture at the Conference in Europe). Teacher said, "Before, when I discussed enlightening, I expounded on a heavenly secret that no one had mentioned: 'Cultivation depends on oneself, while gong depends on one's master.'" For thousands of years people have thought that it was the person who practiced cultivation and who elevated himself. Actually, you can't achieve anything in cultivation on your own. Nothing can be resolved if you don't have a master taking care of you. That is, real matters are resolved by your master--they're resolved by the factors behind the Fa. Your own enlightening only refers to your continuing cultivation after overcoming difficulties while practicing cultivation. This is what we refer to as your own enlightening. As for truly enlightening to something from the principles, if this Fa doesn't let you know it, you can't enlighten to it no matter how you try. So you have to meet one condition: "You must genuinely practice cultivation." ( from the Fa-Lecture at the Conference in Europe ) . Therefore, these Fa-rectification verses are Fa. Behind every word, there are infinite numbers of Buddhas, Daos, and Gods. Whenever each of us recites these verses, there exists a question of our faith--faith in the Fa, in the Teacher and in the power of righteous thoughts. Teacher said, "The Fa can break all attachments, the Fa can destroy all evil, the Fa can shatter all lies, and the Fa can strengthen righteous thoughts." (from "Drive Out Interference ") Therefore I came to the understanding that when I myself have pure righteous thoughts, the reciting of Fa-rectification verses is capable of breaking all attachments. This is the first point I would like to make.
Secondly, the attachment of fear is also a substance in another dimension. Your reciting the verses is not only an issue of strengthening righteous thoughts and beliefs. It is also an issue of eradicating these deviated substances.
Thirdly, the attachment of fear is indeed not in accordance with the characteristic of the Dafa principles--Zhen, Shen and Ren--it is instead a manifestation of demonic nature. Teacher said in the Lecture in Sydney, "He could practice cultivation precisely because he is able to consolidate his Buddha nature in a maze." Therefore, I think our cultivation process is not only a process of giving up human attachments, but also a process of eliminating demonic nature and constantly enriching our own Buddha nature. Thus I have reached the understanding that the reciting of the Fa-rectification verses not only eradicates the evil--because it is indeed Fa and therefore omnipotent--but also eliminates our demonic nature and hence enriches our own Buddha nature.
This is what I have enlightened to at this time, when I encountered problems, overcame problems, sent forth righteous thoughts, as well as experienced the power of sending forth righteous thoughts. Therefore, every time a problem occurs, it is due to an unstable mentality, and one's demonic nature is exposed and can be eliminated. It is also Teacher's way of mercifully pointing out our attachments. That is why I think we should cherish every tribulation, because in each instance, there are many elements that we can use to improve ourselves. Teacher said, "although this environment is very evil--think about it, everyone--isn't it precious and hard to come by? It is truly precious and hard to come by. After this period there won't be any opportunities like this. You are able to come upon this kind of opportunity only because you are Dafa disciples. Nothing like this happened in ordinary cultivation or individual cultivation in the past." (from the "Teaching the Fa at the Washington D.C., International Fa Conference")
Of course, Dafa disciples completely oppose the old forces' arrangements. Anytime a problem occurs, we should send forth the righteous thoughts with the utmost confidence. It is only by sending forth complete righteous thoughts that we completely eliminate the evil. In The North America Lecture Tour, Teacher said, "When Dafa disciples send forth righteous thoughts to remove the evil's persecution of you, if the righteous thoughts are pure and upright, that is allowed. The old Fa principles have this kind of principle as well. This is the same principle as regarding cultivation with righteous thoughts and using righteous thoughts to save sentient beings."

A Few Words: Looking within Myself
Once, after being blamed by another practitioner for something I did, I felt I had been treated quite unfairly. I was thinking that I had been totally wronged by that person, so I went to his house to reason it out with him. Failing to find him at home when I went there, I began to complain and enumerate his shortcomings in my heart. Eventually, since I could hardly put the matter down, I perceived that there was something wrong with myself. Painfully I tried to take a look to see if I had the same problems. Sure enough, all of what I blamed on him were all my own problems too. In this way I finally realized what Teacher has told us: whenever there is problem, look within yourself. This was a very important lesson for me.
A Few Words: Disagreement
Once our practitioners discussed how to undertake a certain activity, and everyone's opinion sounded reasonable. However, nobody could agree on one specific issue.
Looking back at the issue, I found that all the different opinions were actually complementary. He thought about this aspect, and she considered that aspect; there was no disagreement on the project itself. Doesn't this show that the tolerance and understanding of others, which is derived from our benevolence, is so important? Only in a peaceful and calm state of mind can we have a better perspective of the matter under consideration and do our work more perfectly.

(Clearwisdom.net) The annual human rights festival was held April 19-20, 2002 in the beautiful college town of Athens, Georgia. Georgia Falun Dafa practitioners set up a booth and took part in the two-day festival. Western practitioner Scot Roberson made a special speech on Falun Gong.
1. Introduce Dafa in a pure and compassionate manner
At the human rights festival, people of different races dressed in various clothing and playing different music and representatives of several human rights organizations were present.
Our Falun Dafa booth was set up 60 feet from the stage. The boundless compassion, peace and tranquility from the booth reached all the way to the street. Some Falun Dafa practitioners were practicing sitting meditation; some were sending forth righteous thoughts; some were handing out Falun Dafa truth-clarifying literature and introducing Falun Gong to the busy crowd in the scorching sun. Many people happily accepted Falun Dafa truth-clarifying literature and earnestly read it. Some adults with babies in their arms passed by our booth in a hurry, but the babies opened their small hands asking for something. They gave bright smiles when we gave them a piece of precious Falun Dafa literature. Many people stretched out their hands to Falun Dafa while they were still quite far away from us. We understood that our Compassionate Teacher guided these kind people with a predestined relationship to us, giving more people an opportunity to be saved.
2. Practitioner's rational and peaceful speech and miraculous cultivation amaze the public
University of Georgia at Athens (UGA) is western practitioner Scot Roberson's alma mater. With Falun Dafa Pudu music filling the air, Scot narrated in a rational and peaceful manner his extraordinary experience of going to Tiananmen Square to validate Falun Dafa. Hundreds of eyes looked at him in astonishment and listened to him attentively. He also talked about his personal cultivation practice in Falun Dafa, the widespread acceptance of Falun Dafa around the world and the persecution suffered by Falun Dafa practitioners in China. At the same time, four practitioners, in golden yellow t-shirts proclaiming "Falun Dafa" and "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance" demonstrated the fifth set of exercise. They also sent forth righteous thoughts. Other practitioners took the chance to give Falun Dafa material to the audience. At that moment, the noisy human rights festival became solemn and respectful, and completely immersed in Falun Dafa's boundless compassion. Falun Dafa attracted the entire audience and tourists. People's eyes were filled with pleasant surprise, understanding, yearning and respect. "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance" were embedded in people's hearts.
3. Nearly one hundred Westerners signed the petition, extending their support to Falun Dafa practitioners in ChangchunMany Americans were surprised while viewing our Falun Dafa truth-clarifying posters. They felt it inconceivable that Jiang's regime persecutes Falun Dafa practitioners to such a brutal extent. Many people had tears in their eyes and sincerely worried about the situation of Falun Gong practitioners in China. A middle-aged American man in tears told the practitioners there that he had been to China and adopted a 22-month old orphan in Hunan Province. He said he witnessed how brutally the Chinese police treated Falun Gong practitioners. After he learned that Changchun Falun Dafa practitioners successfully broadcast truth-clarifying programs through the cable TV network and suffered a large-scale arrest, he said, "I must sign to support their righteous deeds, and to protect basic human rights." Another American was outraged after carefully looking through our photo display boards, he said, "If there are people who still don't know the severe persecution against Falun Gong practitioners in China, these people must be living in caves..."
Amnesty International initiated the rescue of Changchun Falun Gong practitioners, and has gained support from kind-hearted people around the world. In less than two days, more than 130 people in Athens signed the petition. These kind people expressed their voice, "Chinese dictator Jiang must stop the persecution against Falun Gong practitioners. Peaceful practice is one's basic human right. Whoever issued such an order to persecute people, he is indeed committing crimes, and he will definitely be brought to justice."
