Gu Changqin from Hulutao City, Liaoning Province is currently being detained at Jianzhou Second Detention Center. In order to resist the illegal detention, she has been on a hunger strike without water for 31 days. Her life is now in danger.

After the truth about the police beating elderly practitioner Li Yanhua to death was exposed, the police used various methods to arrest the practitioners that provided the details. They have sent many practitioners to forced labor camps, including Masanjia and Yingkuo. Recently, the police arrested many practitioners to Dashiqiao Detention Center. They plan to sentence these practitioners to long jail terms.

Unable to arrest a Falun Gong practitioner, the police abducted the practitioner's wife instead. She was hung up and tortured for 24 hours.

During the period of the 16^th People's Congress, practitioners sprayed "Falun Dafa is good," and other phrases, on the crossing bridges in Chaoyang City. Many pedestrians stopped and looked up. [Note: Without access to any typical means of communication such as newspapers, magazines, TVáor radio, Falun Gong practitioners have resorted to many creative and sometimes unusual methods for raising awareness among Chinese people about the persecution.]

On November 15, 2002, Lu Dawei from Lingyuan, Liaoning Province was clarifying the truth in a public place in Chaoyang City and was arrested and taken to the Beita Police Station. The police hung him up and tortured him for two days. The first day, they stripped off his coat, poured cold water over his body, put him outside for the whole day, and then slapped him. The second day, they removed Lu's pants. For several hours, a police officer whipped Lu's legs with a leather belt that was dipped in cold water. The police then sent Lu to a detention center. Lu went on a hunger strike without water in order to resist the persecution. The police sent him to Xidayingzi Forced Labor Camp in Chaoyang City and force-fed him. The police had to release Lu after seven days.

During the period of the 16^th People's Congress, the police arrested more than 20 practitioners. The police are also holding some practitioners that were arrested around May 1, 2002. Some practitioners have been on a hunger strike for a long time and their lives are in peril. Despite all this, the police are still persecuting practitioners.

On the evening of November 28, 2002, the police broke into a practitioner's residence in Daqing and arrested six practitioners. The police confiscated more than 1000 VCDs and some Dafa materials. The police earlier confiscated the office equipment at a site for producing Dafa materials. They took a photocopier and some Dafa materials.

At the end of November 2002, Zhao Hongying from Daqing Ninth Oil Plant was arrested while delivering a guest to the train station. The police tortured him. He is currently being detained at Qiqihar City Railroad Third Detention Center. The police did not find any evidence with which to charge him. They then attempted to extort 4000 Yuan [Chinese currency, the monthly salary for an average Chinese urban worker is about 500 Yuan] from his family members but they refused to pay. Zhao has been held in detention ever since.

The persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners is extremely severe in Hulan Prison. Qian Houmin has been on a hunger strike in order to resist the persecution. Since the evil people don't allow information to be released, we have no way of knowing his health status.

Xu Shiqian is the Communist Party Secretary for the Politics and Law Committee in the Town of Baiguo in Macheng. On November 5 and 6, Xu and the Cao Guangyin, head of the local police station, led some police officers in arresting 12 Falun Dafa practitioners including Lou Xuelin, Lu Gongyou, Zhu Changzheng, Jiang Zhengsong, Guo Jinhua (female), Li Jijiao (female), Zhu Liwen (female), Liu Dezhen (female), and Peng Weixiang (female). They are now illegally detaining the practitioners in Houzishan.

For those firm practitioners, the police use torture methods that include shocking with four high-voltage electric batons simultaneously, forcing the person to squat for long periods of time (potentially causing leg paralysis), and mercilessly beating people in secret chambers.

On the evening of June 30, the police from Zhuhai District Police Branch in Guangzhou City arrested Deng Yi from a place that she rented. After illegally detaining her for a month, the police sent her to Chatou Female Forced Labor Camp for two years.

The police took all her belongings and refused to return them to her family. So far, Deng has been illegally detained for 5 months. Her family was only allowed to visit her once in August and found that after just one month of detention, her appearance had changed dramatically because of the torture. Now it is wintertime, and the Deng family's request to send winter clothes for her has not been answered.

Besides their usual methods, the police are using new means to persecute the practitioners. These include:

1. Placing surveillance cameras at the entrances of the residential divisions including Babaixiang division. Five police monitor these cameras 24 hours a day. All residents in these divisions are under constant surveillance.
2. Drilling holes through practitioners' neighbors walls and inserting wiretap devices in order to monitor the practitioners' conversations.
3. Rewarding taxi drivers for participating in the arrests of Falun Dafa practitioners.

In November, the police from local police stations in Changguan and Xinhua Village arrested Wu Suhua and Zhang Qiumei from their homes and illegally detained them at Hongan County First Detention Center. The police also illegally confiscated Wu Suhau's home. Currently, the two practitioners are on a hunger strike.

On July 9, 2002, the police arrested Ji Huijun on his way to Xuzhou and brought him back in the middle of September. After the police tortured him, he had changed so much that he was only recognizable by his voice. He is currently being detained at Huainan Detention Center.

Around November 1, the police destroyed a site for producing Dafa materials and confiscated several pieces of office equipment. Two practitioners are missing.

Currently in Harbin, the "610 offices" [a bureau specifically created by the Chinese government to persecute Falun Gong. It has absolute power over each level of administration in the Party, as well as over the political and judiciary branches], the police stations, and the forced labor camps, including Wanjia and Changlinzi, are brutally persecuting Dafa practitioners. We suggest that all practitioners in Harbin area send forth righteous thoughts together to completely eliminate the evil in other dimensions.

After being released from a forced labor camp, Zhao Hongwen and Liang Xiaofeng have been helping the city's "610 office" persecute Falun Dafa practitioners. The police reward them with money. Wen Jiazhai's telephone number is 86-533-5783142.
