[Chongzhou City, Sichuan Province] Dafa Practitioner Liu Zhifen was Tortured to Death
Dafa practitioner Liu Zhifen, female, in her 60s, was from Group 8 of Team12 at Xingyun Village, Chongyang Town , Chongzhou City. She was a tailor in a store at East Wenhua Street. On January 6, 2001, a policeman lured her away from her home and illegally detained her afterwards. During the detention, out of protest, Liu Zhifen went on hunger strike for 16 days. She was pushed down on the ground and forcibly fed by four policemen twice a day. She lost consciousness and never got up again. She left the world on February 4, 2001. Only after her death was her family allowed to see her body. The police imposed unreasonable requests on her family, such as the family cannot hold a funeral ceremony, accept wreaths or disclose the news of her death. The police also forced her younger brother to assure that the family would follow their orders. Her children were not even allowed to have meal together.

From the so-called "XX Award Ceremony" [to reward the people who did "good job" in the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners] shown on CCTV yesterday, it is becoming clear to us that many kind-hearted people are sick of what Jiang Zemin has done and to which extent he has deviated to persecute Falun Gong. Especially inside the police department, people feel tired of suppressing Falun Gong practitioners against their own will all of last year. The high-level officials in the police departments have seen through the ugly and brutal intentions of Jiang Zemin and his followers. To cater to the viciousness of Jiang Zemin, a university instigated a signature-collecting drive against Falun Gong as soon as the students returned to school at the beginning of the new semester [in winter]. Dafa practitioners in this university bravely stepped forward and clarified the truth about Falun Dafa to teachers and students. This had helped the students to realize the conspiracy of Jiang's government and therefore they refused to sign their names. The leader of the university had to find students from a professional school nearby to merely make up for the QUOTA of expected signatures.

[China] Jiang Zemin Issued Another Order to the Army, Police and Armed Police Forces to Thoroughly Check for Falun Dafa Practitioners in Their Own Ranks
Around the Spring Festival, Jiang Zemin feared that Falun Gong showed a tendency to involve itself into the army, police and armed police forces. He was very paranoid about this. As the suppression of Falun Gong kept escalating, Jiang issued yet another order to thoroughly the check army, police and armed policemen for hidden Falun Dafa practitioners among them. The order requested everyone to "pass the test" and guarantee not to practice Falun Gong. He also issued a document that called for every Party-Level Committee to send Falun Gong practitioners to "transformation" classes. This order stated: "Sentence those who should go to the labor camp; sentence those who should go to the jail." He even fabricated the story that 'Falun Gong practitioners would bring knifes to Tiananmen Square and commit suicide by cutting their wrists.'
It is said that the key persons who will be checked this time will be veterans in the armed services and relatives living with those who are in the army. We hope every practitioner keeps a clear mind and carefully considers every step taken under this new pressure imposed by Jiang Zemin.
[Wuhan City, Hubei Province] The Evil Forces Seized Every Opportunity and Made Use of "Solemn Statements" to Gain the Trust of Dafa Practitioners
To further persecute Dafa practitioners, the vicious forces in Wuhan City coerced some "transformed" people to publish "Solemn Statements" on the Net. They also claimed what they had said or written that they violated Dafa under various pressures, that their statements were invalid, and so on. It is said that these people are playing double-dealing tricks to deceive the Dafa practitioners and regain their sympathy and trust. By using these ruses they can successfully infiltrate among practitioners to collect information of Dafa practitioners' activities. They can also gain "credit" with and seek rewards from the government. Practitioners in China, please put more effort in the Fa study [study of the Universal Law, Zhen, Shan, Ren] and upgrade Xinxing [mind or heart nature] so that you will always take the Fa as the teacher in various complicated environments, get rid of the attachments of everyday people and do not give the vicious forces any credence or advantage.
[Hefei City, Anhui Province] Situations of Practitioners being Persecuted
Xu Song, a computer engineer with a Master's degree conferred by University of Science and Technology of China in Hefei City, was arrested around February 21, 2001, when he clarified the truth about Falun Dafa. No one is sure about his situation now.
Pan Lijia, a doctoral candidate at University of Science and Technology of China, was forced to suspend his schooling for one year since February 2001, because of persisting in practicing Falun Gong. Around February 20, 2001, he was arrested when clarifying the truth about Falun Dafa. He is now detained at Hefei No. 1 Detention Center.
Xu Feng, a teacher at Anhui Institute of Architecture Design in Hefei City, was illegally detained for 3 months at Cangnan Detention Center in Zhejiang Province.
Wu Jingqing, a senior student at Anhui Institute of Architecture Design in Hefei City, was arrested on campus on February 20, 2001. Another student, Yu Jun, went to appeal for Falun Gong 3 times and was expelled from school. He has now been detained for 2 months at a detention center in Hefei City. A student, Yang Mei, has now been illegally detained for 2 months at a detention center in Hefei City. Liu Gang, another student, has become destitute and homeless. He can neither go home nor go to school.

On February 26, 2001, police stations in the city gave notification to all Falun Dafa practitioners, illegally requiring all of them to appear at the police stations next day. After that, if anyone still insisted on practicing Falun Dafa, he/she would be subjected to further persecution.

Mo Aiqin, female, in her 40's, worked at the Tax Bureau.
Dai Zhengping, female, in her 40's, was an employee of a printing factory.
Yi Xianxun, female, in her 30's, was an independent painter who is specialized in painting Guanyin [the Goddess of Mercy] images in the area of the Qingyang Temple in Chengdu City.
They were arrested on December 2, 1999 while unfurling Falun Dafa banners in Tiananmem Square. Ever since, they have been detained at detention centers in Jiuru Village, Lianhua Village, and in the City Jail of Ningxia Street. Under all these severe circumstances and in the face of all kinds of tribulations, their faith in Falun Dafa has never changed. After being detained in jail for one year, in 2001, they were then transferred to Yangmahe Labor Camp, Jianyang City, Sichuan Province. They were sentenced for a 3-year forced labor.

Zhang Hailing, female, 31 years old, was a company employee. She was arrested on October 7, 2000 for criminal detention by Shahebao local police station because of distributing Dafa truth flyers at Sichuan Posts and Telecommunications School in Chengdu City. She was then sentenced to 3-year forced labor. She went to Tiananmem Square in the first half of the year 2000 to appeal and was detained for 1 month of criminal detention.
Cao Jinfeng, a senior engineer in Factory 420, was arrested on New Year's Day when appealing in Beijing and was detained for some time in the Jail of Ningxia Street. She was then sent away and was sentenced for 18 months of forced labor. However, the public security bureau refused to tell her family members any details about her. Her family members tried with all means to discover her whereabouts, but their efforts were in vain. They still don't know at this time where she is detained.
Gong Gaolian, a female practitioner in Dayi County, was in her 40's. She was arrested on New Year's Day of 2001 when appealing for Falun Gong in Beijing, and was subsequently sentenced for 18 months of unlawful incarceration. In June 2000, she went to Tiananmen Square to unfurl a banner proclaiming the goodness of Falun Dafa and was taken into custody by persons from the public security bureau of Dayi County. During her detention, she was severely tortured. In addition, her detention period was illegally extended because she wrote" Falun Dafa is Good" on a wall in her cell.
Luo Yan, female, in her 40's, worked at the Social Science Institute. On the Chinese Lunar New Year's Eve of this year, from the Jail of Ningxia Street in Chengdu City, she was directly sent to serve 18 months in a labor re-education camp.
[Sichuan Province] A Sichuan Dafa Practitioner's Family Life was Ruined by the Persecution
A Dafa practitioner from a county in Sichuan Province was a cadre of the industrial and commercial department. In the past, one of his legs was seriously injured in a traffic accident. After he attained the Fa, his leg recovered very quickly. At the beginning of 2000, he went to Beijing to safeguard Dafa. After being caught and brought back, he was detained in the detention center. During the detention, he kept on studying the Fa and practicing the exercises. After being found out, the guard took away his Dafa books. He went on a hunger strike for 4 days to protest. The guard forced him to sleep in an execution bed (for common criminals who are awaiting execution) for several days. He was handcuffed and shackled. This practitioner endured all kinds of tortures but retained his firm belief in Dafa. He was released a few months later. After his release, however, he was expelled both from work and the party membership. His leg was injured at work and he had been covered by labor insurance. However his work unit refused to continue to pay the insurance, unless he would give up practicing Dafa. This practitioner chose to firmly cultivate Dafa and let go of the everyday people's interests. He got married after returning home. During the few days of his honeymoon in mid-July 2000, he was again arrested and is currently still detained in a detention center since he is considered to be a "backbone" of Falun Dafa. His wife is also a Dafa practitioner. The local police often search their home illegally. A few days ago his wife was arrested again as the police found a Dafa book at their home. Many families are being torn apart, one after another. This is the portraiture of "the best human rights period" described by the evil forces in Mainland China.
In addition, a place in Sichuan Province has just sentenced 4 Dafa practitioners to 1.5 years forced labor recently. They are Liu Deming, Yi Cuiping (female), Chen Yuqing (female) and Ms. Wang.
[Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province] Guangzhou Took New Measures to Persecute Dafa Practitioners
Recently, all public security offices of each street administration office and local police station sent people jointly to practitioners' work units to sign a so-called "Responsibility Letter." The general idea of the "Responsibility Letter" is that the working unit should arrange for someone to keep surveillance on its Falun Gong practitioners 24 hours a day. This was done to assure that the practitioners would not go to Beijing to appeal or distribute Falun Gong truth-clarifying materials from end of February to the end of March. The working units again forced practitioners to write so called "Guarantee Letters," that they would give up practicing Falun Dafa and not go to Beijing to appeal on behalf of Falun Dafa.
[Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province] News about Dafa Practitioners in Shijiazhuang City
Shijiazhuang Dafa practitioner Liu Jinsong was a former operational manager in Baoding City Branch of Hebei Province Management Bureau of China Civil Aviation. Without due cause, police officers took him away after he was transferred his position back to Shijiazhuang City recently. His whereabouts are still unknown. We call on all people from every walk of life pay attention to this matter.

Liu Jinsong's mother, Dafa practitioner Yin Yanxin, went to Beijing to appeal after her son was taken away. She tried to ask for justice for her son, for Dafa and for all practitioners. She was also arrested and her whereabouts are unknown.

During the Spring Festival, this police station detained more than 10 Dafa practitioners without due legal process. One of these practitioners was just passing by Tiananmen Square when visiting some relatives and, for the mistake of walking in that area, was arrested. The others were illegally taken away from their homes. They were detained unlawfully and for way too long. Some of them is not released until now.
