Montreal -- Quebec Superior Court has ordered the
Montreal-based Chinese newspaper "Les Presses Chinoises" to stop
anti-Falun Gong publications. The author was ordered not to circulate defamatory
anti-Falun Gong materials under all circumstances. Details of this Court Order
will be made public by Falun Gong practitioners and their legal counsel, civil
rights lawyer, Mr. Michael Bergman at a press conference in Montreal on
Wednesday December 12.

Last Thursday, Falun Gong practitioners in Canada started
their first legal action to stop the circulation of hate literature on Canadian
soil after vicious slandering articles appeared repeatedly in the Montreal
Chinese newspaper "Les Presses Chinoises" beginning November 3, 2001.
The newspapers defaming Falun Gong are circulated in Montreal and Ottawa, and
through the internet, across the country. While the legal procedure is still in
progress, the Court's Safeguard Order issued in the preliminary hearing on
Monday signifies the initial success of such efforts.
The hate literature appearing in "Les Presses
Chinoises" repeats the Chinese government's unfounded defamations used to
demonize Falun Gong and attempt to justify their two and a half year-long
persecution of Falun Gong practitioners.

Additional Information
The Chinese government has been running a smear campaign both
in China and abroad to justify its crackdown. The Chinese Embassy and Consulates
in Canada have been inciting hate toward Falun Gong on Canadian soil through the
sending of defamatory materials to all levels of Canadian government officials
who support Falun Gong, to the media and by influencing Canadian Chinese
Newspapers through various means.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a practice of
meditation and exercises with teachings of the universal principle of
"Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance." China supported and awarded Falun
Gong for years until 1999 when the President of China, Jiang Zemin, banned the
practice. To date, more than three hundred innocent Falun Gong practitioners
have been tortured to death for refusing to give up the practice and more than a
hundred thousand people have been incarcerated. Millions of practitioners in
China have been deprived of jobs, education, pensions, etc.

People's Republic of China: Systematic Human Rights Abuses against Falun Gong Practitioners
The Jiang Zemin regime has escalated its persecution of Falun Gong, with systematic abuses of human rights coordinated by the "6-10 Office" [an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems].

Vienna: Since China became a member of the International Alliance Against Terrorism, the intensity of its human rights abuses has escalated. Its abusive treatment of the peaceful, non-violent Falun Gong movement, also known as Falun Dafa, has been especially harsh.
Using the excuse of "social stability," the Jiang Zemin regime systematically terrorizes its own citizens, especially the followers of Falun Gong and their families. This terrorism takes the form of intimidation, pressure, force, propaganda, brainwashing, and also the confiscation of material goods and cash.
The "6-10 Office" is the primary enforcer of this systematic persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in the PRC.
The "6-10 Office" was founded on the direct orders of President Jiang Zemin for the purpose of persecuting Falun Gong in China. It was established approximately one month prior to the banning of the spiritual practice. As stated above, this organization has offices at all levels of government. Its administration is completely independent of all legal institutions and it possesses all-pervasive power. Jiang Zemin demanded that all government agencies at all levels "work in close coordination with the "6-10 Office."
The only mandate given this office was "to solve the Falun Gong problem in China," and the methods used in this effort do not matter to the Chinese President. The brutal persecution of Falun Gong, which has lasted over two-years, has already cost more than 320 people their lives and subjected 10,000 citizens to arrest. Torture, sexual and psychological abuse have become commonplace.
It has been demonstrated that the "6-10 Office" has become the strongest and most vicious vehicle for carrying out this state-sanctioned terrorism against Falun Gong in China. According to reports from hundreds of eyewitnesses, the "6-10 Office" has been given free reign "from above" to use any imaginable means against the non-violent, innocent Falun Gong practitioners. Thus, murder is portrayed as suicide or heart attack, and the victim's remains are usually cremated immediately, before the family members have a chance to view the body one last time. Torture, sexual abuse and murder have become the means for "re-education" in the detention centers, regardless of age or gender. The goal is to break the will of Falun Gong practitioners and to force them to sign the so-called "repentance statements." [Statements acknowledging remorse for practicing Falun Gong, to give up Falun Gong, and to never again associate with those who practice, or go to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong.]
The escalating death count among incarcerated Falun Gong practitioners correlates with orders issued by the "6-10 Office."
The "6-10 Office" not only terrorizes Falun Gong, but practically China's whole population. Agents from that office apply pressure on everyone, not just Falun Gong practitioners. There are reports, for instance, of school children in many areas of the country having to sign statements against Falun Gong or risk being expelled from school. This also happens in companies and in police departments, where those who do not speak out against Falun Gong risk losing their jobs.
The actions of those who carry out the orders of the "6-10 Office" put the lives of millions of people in jeopardy. We must do everything in our power to stop the threat to people brought about by this inhumane organization.

[Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province] Police in Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province Use the "Implication System" to Persecute the Innocent Relatives of Falun Dafa Practitioners Who Have Been Forced to Leave Their Homes
According to internal sources, the terroristic "610 Office" (an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems) issued a secret order to locate and arrest all the Dafa practitioners who were forced to leave home. If the practitioners do not come back, their family members will be arrested and the whole family will be implicated.
One example of the effect of the "implication system" is in a household near the dairy in Qingyunpu District, Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province. The son was pursued by the Police Department because he cultivated Falun Dafa and clarified the truth to the people of the world. He was forced to leave home and has been wandering about for more than a year. During the period of the "Serious Crackdown on Crime" campaign, the police went to his home and threatened his family members. They demanded that his parents get their son back, and tried to force them to publish a notice in the newspaper to find their son. His family members refused, so the police brought them to the police station, even though his father is not a practitioner. His mother was released because she had a severe headache after being arrested. She recovered right after she went back home. Seeing this method failed, the police arrested many of his relatives and brought them to the police station. The only way for his family members to avoid this relentless harassment was to publish a notice in the newspaper saying that his mother's life was in danger. They hoped that he would come back home as soon as possible. At the end of November, however, his innocent relatives were still not released from jail.
[Benxi City, Liaoning Province] A Cultivator Who is Content and Bears No Hatred
Wang Lijuan, female, is a lecturer at the Benxi City Commercial Finance and Trade College in Liaoning Province. On February 22, 2001, she was illegally detained after being betrayed by Shen Wei, Xu Qiuli, Chen Shuwen, Chen Gang, and others. On April 25, 2001, she was illegally arrested. Currently she is being held in the Benxi City Bailou Detention Center. On November 7, the Benxi City Mingshan District Court sentenced her to 3 years in prison on fabricated charges.
Wang Lijuan demonstrated a Dafa practitioner's magnificence during detention and in Court. In the face of evil, she never yielded. She stated, "It is not wrong to cultivate Dafa and spread Dafa." She was asked, "Your fellow practitioners reported you to the police. Why don't you report other people? What do you think?" She answered," I am not discontent nor do I have any hatred. I only hope that you will immediately turn away from the wrong path, distinguish right from wrong, and come to know Dafa right away." Her benevolent and righteous attitude shook all of the people present.
[China] A Short Story about Sending Forth Righteous Thoughts
A fellow practitioner just came back from validating Dafa in Beijing. One day, when walking down the street, she suddenly noticed that a policeman was following her. She immediately sent forth righteous thoughts to ask him to turn right. When turning her head, she suddenly saw three rows of glittering Buddhas sitting cross-legged, with their backs toward her. They obstructed the policeman's sight, so he could not see her and he turned right. It made this fellow practitioner feel the great power of righteous thoughts.
[Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province] The Mazhang Ruiyun Police Station Abducts Dafa Practitioners
Recently, several policemen from the Mazhang Ruiyun Police Station in Zhanjiang, Guangdong Province happened upon female Dafa practitioners Feng Nu, Kong Xiuzhu, Wang Xiaoqing and Cai Mei. Using the excuse of asking them a few questions, they deceived the practitioners into going to the police station. Then they forcibly sent them to a Brainwashing Class.

[Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Hewan Labor Camp in Wuhan City Unjustifiably Cancels the Scheduled Visiting Day
November 13th is the scheduled visiting Day for Falun Gong practitioners in Team 2 of the Hewang Labor Camp. It pained the Falun Gong practitioners' relatives that the 20-minute visit to their family members was unjustifiably canceled. The guards in the forced labor camp made up an explanation for the practitioners' relatives, saying that the practitioners had been transferred into a strict-surveillance class for violating the rules. When asked how the practitioners violated the rules, the guards gave them a vague and irrelevant answer.
The details about the "strict-surveillance class" are as follows: In the strict-surveillance class, Falun Gong practitioners were not allowed to talk to each other at all. They were forced to sit from morning to night, and were not allowed to stand or walk even for a minute. They had to report if they wanted to use the toilet. (The toilet is actually just a barrel put in the doorway, used for holding urine and feces). The practitioners never had enough food for meals, and they were not allowed to buy food at the snack counter. The guards even threw away the food that the practitioners bought before going to the class because they did not report it to them. It happened frequently that the "messengers" (the prisoners, who were assigned by the guards to watch Falun Gong practitioners) maliciously beat and cursed the practitioners. When the practitioners reported to the team leader, he simply gave a vague excuse in a perfunctory manner, and connived with the "messengers" to persecute Falun Gong practitioners even more. If the practitioners practiced the exercises, the guards would pull them to the office or the yard, and brutally beat them. The Falun Gong practitioners held at the Hewan Labor Camp are suffering from severe torture both mentally and physically.

[Changchun City, Jilin Province] Please Pay Attention to the Illegally Detained Dafa Practitioner Li Yongjun
Li Yongjun, a forty one-year-old woman, was the senior engineer of the No.1 Automobile Factory of Changchun City. In March 2000, the local police station asked her whether she would go to Beijing to appeal, with the intent of stopping the persecution of Falun Gong, she answered yes. As a result, she was illegally sentenced to 1 year of forced labor on the charge of "planning to appeal in Beijing". Now, she has been illegally detained for nearly 21 months in the Heizuizi Female Forced Labor Camp of Changchun City and still has not been released. Also, since she was illegally detained, she was allowed to see her relatives only twice the whole time. Such treatment of Dafa practitioners already seriously violated the UN's universal declaration of human rights and current Chinese law. It is reported that this Dafa practitioner is now on a hunger strike; the number of days is unknown. She is now a mere skeleton and it's too heartbreaking to look at her.

On November 27, 2001, a specially appointed Beijing reporter Wang Hu from the "New Culture View" of Changchun City reported: The book that slandered Dafa by chief editor Shi Zheng was recently published and distributed by Jilin Photography Publishing Company. Also, the "New Culture View" also published many reports that slandered Dafa, assisting the evil and helping the tyrants to commit criminal acts.

As practitioners in China face tremendous pressure to give up their beliefs under the Chinese regime's brutal persecution, there are those who have given in and signed documents renouncing Falun Dafa. However, many of these people deeply regret doing so after they are released from detention and labor camps. "Solemn declarations" are the public statements made by such practitioners, often at great risk to their personal safety, to declare to the world that the documents they signed under duress are null and void and that they will continue to practice Falun Dafa.

(Clearwisdom.Net) The Fushun City Labor Camp is in Wujiapu of Dongzhou District. In order to mentally and physically torture the compassionate Falun Dafa practitioners, the unjust local officials set up a so-called "Fushun Ideology Education Workshop." They used hypocritical and deceitful slogans to cover up what is actually a "brainwashing class" that infringes on citizens' freedom of belief.
I was tortured inhumanely in the class. Now I'm disclosing the truth to the world. Inhumane is the most appropriate description for what was done to me.
(1) Stabbing fingers with needles: First one's arms and legs are tied down, then they are pressed down, then one's fingers are stabbed with needles.
(2) Not being allowed to rest or sleep: This is the most "peaceful" among all the forms of persecution. One sits or stands facing the wall or is hung. No movement is allowed. If one moves, one will be cuffed and kicked by the thugs on duty from the labor camp. Some practitioners were tortured for six days and six nights without being allowed to sleep.
(3) Electric baton: This is "routine" and "legal" and is something in no need of explanation. We were treated with an electric baton more frequently than we were treated with a meal, sometimes until the battery in the baton ran out.
(4) Malicious beatings (cuffs and kicks): This could occur at any time. If the police team leaders got tired, they then ordered, threatened, encouraged, or forced the prisoners to beat practitioners. If we're injured, we can recover; if we're disabled, we have to be responsible for ourselves; if we're beaten to death, that's suicide. Even the weak old woman who had fasted for many days was not exempt.
(5) Confinement: No procedure was followed or reason given. If you don't "regret," (practicing Falun Dafa) then you are confined forever. The confinement cell was a little over two meters long, and around one meter wide. The person's body was fixed to an iron ring in a corner of the cell and also to the highest point on the cell's iron door. In this way, the person could neither stand straight nor sit. Sometimes the person is even hung up. One time, a female practitioner was hung like this for seven days and seven nights and her legs became seriously swollen and lost all feeling. In the end, instead of walking out by herself, she was carried out.
(6) "Riding an Airplane" - a painful torture method where one's hands are bent back while one lays on the floor: Some practitioners suffered this kind of torture and it caused both of their legs to become disabled and completely lose feeling. Now it has been half a year, and they still haven't recovered or regained the ability to allow her to walk independently.
(7) Practicing boxing: Using Falun Dafa practitioners as dummies for practicing "straight and extended cuffs" with boxing gloves on. This is very cruel and inhuman treatment.
(8) Violent conversation: "Tear the soft ones [practitioners who are easily transformed], crush the hard ones. Combine the soft and hard ways [the methods of torture used on both steadfast practitioners and ones who are not]." This was written in secret government files. The practitioner who was sent to "talk" usually went at dinnertime and came back at breakfast time. Right after breakfast and without a rest, the practitioner was dragged away to "talk" again. This is an endless cycle and the thugs never stop without reaching their goal. When some practitioners came back, their faces looked yellow and they couldn't even open their eyes. Their faces were swollen and their noses were bloody, and they walked in with crippled legs. This is the most common means of "Education and Correction."
(9) Life imprisonment and financial persecution: For some practitioners, the evil has no excuse to illegally send them to a labor camp. So instead, they send them to a brainwashing school and the treatment there is exactly like a labor camp, but it has two unique features: (1) There is no term. The practitioners will never be released without writing "three statements"(statements denouncing Falun Gong). This is equivalent to life imprisonment. (2) Extortion of practitioners' money in the form of brainwashing fees. Besides taking money, they also take practitioners' houses and land. This puts a large amount of pressure on the practitioners who have financial difficulties. Some practitioners who have been illegally sent to labor camps were transferred to "forced transformation" if they didn't compromise when their terms at the labor camps were over.
(10) Using collaborators (People who once claimed to practice Falun Dafa but now denounce it): Collaborator's use distorted thinking and "enlighten" along an evil path to attack Falun Dafa practitioners mentally. If there's no effect, then cruel beatings, cursing, and long periods of physical punishment will be used. I would not even dare to believe this had I not experienced and witnessed it myself. In China, in Liaoning Province, in Fushun City, in Liaoning Province Labor Camp, human rights and people's humanity are destroyed and treaded upon in these ways.
We Fushun Falun Dafa practitioners appeal to all the compassionate people in the world: please be concerned about the Falun Dafa practitioners who are illegally detained, and inhumanely tortured in the Fushun Labor Camp, and please help stop Jiang Zemin's Regime's persecution of them.

I am 16 years old. I started practicing Falun Dafa in August of 1998. I lost the privilege of attending school ever since Jiang Zemin's regime began persecuting Falun Dafa.
On the evening of September 29th, 2001, my younger brother and I went out to post Falun Dafa flyers. We finished at around one o'clock in the morning, so we stayed overnight at a fellow practitioner's home. The next morning, I went grocery shopping and returned home.
As soon as I stepped into my house, I saw the local police station director and the Party secretary interrogating my mother about me. I told them, "Who said that I've gone away? I'm right here." They saw the groceries in my hand and then they left. I told my mother what I did the night before. All the truth-revealing materials had been posted. My mother said with a big smile, "You kids have done wonderfully well!"
Not more than ten minutes later, three policemen in a jeep came. One of them was tall and had a dark complexion. They grabbed the calendar on the wall, which had the words "Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance" on it. Then they arrested me and took me to the police station.
They locked me in a room on the second floor. I saw two iron rings attached to the floor, about 3 feet apart; they looked like the kind used for restraining people. A half hour later, one of the policemen came in and started to interrogate me. He told me to raise my head but I did not as I refused to cooperate with any evil request. He grabbed my hair and pulled my head back, but I still would not raise my head. He pulled my hair harder, and said, "Someone accused you and your brother of spreading flyers somewhere. Is it true?" I was shocked. Who had found out? I usually distributed flyers at night.
He was roaring like a beast. In order to protect my younger brother, who is not a practitioner, I said, "I did it by myself. My brother was not involved." He asked, "Where did those flyers come from?" I would not answer. He became enraged again. He pulled my hair and slapped my face left and right. I felt numb when he slapped me. He beat me down to the floor, but I got right back up. Uncontrollable tears ran down my face.
The policeman asked me again, "Where did those flyers come from? Tell us, then we'll let you go. Otherwise don't say that we didn't try to treat you nicely." I sent forth righteous thoughts in my heart and did not even look at him. Still grabbing my hair, he shouted, "Where did they come from?" I endured the pain. He slapped me several times again, and asked, "Aren't you going to answer? Where did they come from?" He beat me down to the floor again. I pulled myself up slowly and thought, "I would rather die today than answer. There is no way that I would betray my fellow practitioners!"
The policeman then tried to use a soft tactic. He came closer to me, and said, "You are still young. Those flyers were definitely not printed by you. You don't know how to produce them. Others are using you. How can you be so dumb? It's the Mid-Fall Festival and our National Day tomorrow. If you tell me, we'll let you go!" I refused to acknowledge him. He asked several more times. I answered, "I picked those flyers up by my door." He responded, "Picked up? That's impossible! There weren't just one or two pages, people said you passed out more than ten." I thought to myself, "More than ten is not very many. I think it's not even enough!" He asked me once more, but I still refused to answer. He started to beat me again while many policemen entered the room. Among them there was the police station director, the Party secretary, and that tall policeman with the dark complexion. They slapped me more than ten times. The first policeman became exasperated and went away.
The tall, dark-complexioned policeman brought out a pair of handcuffs. He shouted, "Stand up! Come here, and get into these handcuffs! Let's see if you still won't answer us. This is just the beginning (of the tortures)!" I refused to cooperate with their persecution of Dafa practitioners and refused to stand up. He insisted that I had to stand up. I sent forth righteous thoughts. He lifted me up and pushed me against the wall. He wanted me to sit between the two iron rings on the floor, but I refused. He kicked my legs with his leather boots. I was wearing shorts and I was on my period, but I did not feel any pain when they slapped me or kicked me.
He tried to force me to sit by pressing me down. He connected the handcuffs to one of the rings and said, "Take your hand out!" I refused. He punched my right hand with his fist and forced my right hand into the cuff. He sat in front of me, and told me to raise my head to look at him. I refused. He demanded again and kicked my chin with his leather boots. I still refused to look at him. He kicked me many more times. I just refused to look at his evil-possessed face. He asked again, "Where did those flyers come from?" I remained silent. "Where?!" Seeing that I was refusing to talk, he stepped on my face with his leather boots and punched my head forcefully onto the wall. I still remained silent. He was at his wit's end, and finally he left too.
The first policeman then came back with an electric baton about 8 inches long. I kept on sending forth righteous thoughts. He squatted down. The third policeman who arrested me came at this point, with paper and pen in hand. He asked me, "What's your name?" I was silent. "What is your name?!" His voice became louder and louder. I never answered him.
The first policeman was now mad. He shocked my left hand. I screamed and pulled my hand back. He asked, "How old are you?" I did not answer. He shocked my left hand again. Seeing the sparks, I drew back further. I was nearly backed up against the wall, so I had to move away. He used the baton to shock my head. I shook my head vigorously. He stopped, and said, "I'm not asking you anything but your age. Why not answer?" I thought to myself. "If I tell you my age while I am being shocked, you would soon be able to make me reveal the sources of the Dafa materials. I will never cooperate with you!" He saw that I was maintaining my silence so he shocked and slapped me again. I cried, but I was very clear in my heart: "I will never betray my fellow practitioners!" After this thought became firm, I never answered him from then on.
They continued to ask me for my age. In order to prevent other people from hearing my screams, they closed all the doors. I screamed loudly, calling for my Mom. The first policeman began to leave, saying that he would bring back a larger (higher voltage) electric baton. He said viciously, "The shock from that baton will blow open your flesh. Who cares if you won't talk?" I sent forth a righteous thought: May his baton be out of batteries so that he can not bring it in!"
The third policeman asked again, "How old are you?" I was silent. He stood up and took the electric baton. My left hand was now cuffed onto the other iron ring. I could not move much at all. He tried to shock the iron rings and the handcuffs, but they would not conduct electricity. Then he tried to shock my hand. I shook my hand vigorously. He grabbed my head and fiercely punched it towards the wall. I heard a loud "Bang!" but I did not feel hurt at that moment. Then, the first policeman came back but he was empty handed. I thought to myself, "He was not able to bring the higher voltage baton!" They asked again, "How old are you? Why don't you answer us?" I thought to myself, "You are torturing me worse and worse to force me to give up. If I give you an inch, you'll take a yard. No matter how much you torture me with your electric baton, I will not say a word!"
The first policeman now dared to use murderous tactics on me. He shocked me on my neck. I lost control of my bladder and wet my pants with urine and blood. Because of the long struggle, the cuff began to cut into the flesh of my left hand. I was lying on the floor and had no strength to get up. I cried loudly as I sat on the floor.
The third policeman kicked me hard on my right foot and told me to stand up. I told him, "I don't have the strength." Finally they ran out of ways to torture me. They unlocked my handcuffs. My whole body was shaking and I was swallowing a lot of mucous. I felt dizzy and could not open my eyes. They all left for lunch. When they came back they gave me a bowl of rice, which I refused to eat.
Half an hour later, the first policeman released me from the handcuffs and said, "Come sit on the chair. Let's have a nice talk." I said, "Ever since I was little, I've seen on TV that electric batons and handcuffs are used on the bad guys. I am only 16. What crime did I do? Why should I be treated like this?" He responded, "Because you passed out flyers." I said, "Why is it wrong to pass out flyers? Jiang Zemin has killed more than 277 of my fellow practitioners; he has treated human lives as nothing more than straws. He gives vent to his personal grudges without consideration for its cost. He has slandered Falun Gong. He has said that killing us Falun Gong practitioners is nothing and that it would be counted as a suicide. He has dared to use such murderous means. He also uses the state mechanism to paint a nice picture of himself. I simply want to reveal the truth to the world. I want to let the people know who is right and who is wrong." He responded, "How did you know that Jiang Zemin treats human lives as nothing more than straws? You learned that through hearsay." I answered, "I have facts to prove it. I am only a 16-year-old girl. You can use handcuffs and electric batons to beat me up and force me to tell you things, but I am sure that those 277 fellow practitioners truly died of tortures through Jiang Zemin's doing."
He was silent for a while. Suddenly he said, "You are attacking the leader of our Party and country." I answered, "Jiang Zemin cannot represent the Party or the country. What he really has done is what we are revealing here. We did not do him any wrong. Where does this 'attacking' come from?" He was speechless for a while and then he changed the subject.
Later, they had to go somewhere else to get a permission slip signed to keep me detained. They were going to put me back into the handcuffs but they were unable to detach the handcuffs from the iron rings, so they let me sit on a sofa until 6 pm. They sent me to the City Detention Center. They cursed all along the way. Their vehicle died many, many times on the way to get the permission slip signed and there were traffic jams everywhere.
I knew in my heart that these were their retributions. Jail is not the rightful place for me. We should treasure the time that Master gives us and use it to reveal the evil behind the persecution. But I still have omissions. Sometimes I make rash, impulsive decisions. These are all human things, which should be gotten rid of in cultivation during Fa-Rectification. I also enlightened to how important it is to send forth righteous thoughts during tribulations.
(Clearwisdom.net) As I read about more and more disasters taking place in China, I often end up with tears in my eyes. In the ancient land where I was born and raised, vicious lies are rampant. Jiang Zemin's regime has committed enormous sins against the Great Law of the Universe. Its plan is to destroy the Chinese people.
Those who are ignorant of the facts may ask, if it is Jiang Zemin who framed Falun Gong and if it is officials and police who unlawfully persecute Dafa practitioners, why do natural disasters keep landing on everyday people? How does the persecution of Falun Gong have anything to do with everyday people? Let me answer this question.
Falun Gong is a mind-body cultivation practice that teaches people to comply with "Truth-Compassion-Forbearance." It consists of five sets of smooth and graceful exercises, including a sitting meditation. It emphasizes honesty, truthfulness, respect of traditional values, and encourages people to obtain mental and physical well being by incorporating "Truth-Compassion-Forbearance" into their daily lives. As such, millions of compassionate people have been drawn to Falun Gong. It has brought tremendous benefits to people's minds and bodies. Falun Gong practitioners worldwide are kindhearted people who do not fight back when beaten and will not talk back when sworn at. This is totally different from what is in the propaganda sent out by Jiang Zemin's regime in China. Actually, talking from a deeper connotation, Falun Dafa is a magnificent, heavenly Fa that is difficult to encounter in millions of years. In the human world, Dafa teaches people to be Compassionate. It gives people a healthy mind and body and shows people the true path to return to their original, true selves. In this universe, Dafa created living environments for all levels of beings; in other words, every being is created by Dafa. Whenever one opposes Dafa, one is opposing one's own origin and destroying one's own life.
Jiang Zemin and Luo Gan's regime is framing Falun Gong out of selfishness. It unscrupulously uses media outlets to lie to the people and forces people to participate in the persecution. Its underlying purpose is to use the people to commit sins against Dafa and ultimately, to lead people to destruction. Persecuting cultivators, or persecuting the mighty virtuous Dafa, which saves sentient beings, is the greatest sin of all.
Maybe some would say, those who suffer natural disasters did not participate in the persecution.
First of all, historically there exists a saying "When one member has committed bad deeds, the whole family suffers." When one commits bad deeds, one has actually planted the seed of misfortune for oneself and one's family, as well as future generations. If it's not immediate retribution in this lifetime, then it will be retribution in a future life. Many such cases happen right around us, common for all to see. When an official in one area commits bad deeds, he will bring disasters on the people in that area. When one race commits sins outrageous to heaven, that race will either suffer deadly disasters or have to repay the debt generation after generation. If the person in power commits sin, he will bring disaster on the whole country. It's the people who suffer. Such examples are all around us.
Second, please sincerely ask yourself if you have kept a clear head during the current overwhelming persecution of Falun Gong. When lies abound everywhere, can you uphold justice and make objective decisions. When tens of thousands of Falun Dafa practitioners are being cruelly persecuted by vicious beings, is your heart compassionate and sympathetic enough to seek justice for them? In the past two years, how many people have continuously turned a blind eye and indirectly encouraged vicious beings to persecute Dafa? How many people, out of personal gain, have indirectly helped to persecute Dafa practitioners?
The heavenly principle that "good is rewarded with good and evil is met with evil" is absolutely just. Falun Dafa practitioners have endured tremendous hardships. Yet, they are still compassionately clarifying the truth to people. Heaven is unleashing natural and other disasters to warn people because it is being benevolent to people. Because it would allow people to realize in time the principle that "good is rewarded with good and evil is met with evil." It is to save more predestined people, so that they won't commit worse sins and bring more severe retribution upon themselves.
My beloved land and my beloved people, please wake up.

Since July 20, 1999, Qiao Ping, Chen Liang, Chen Xianrui and other police at the Aimin Substation (Translator's note: Aimin means 'Cherishing people') in Mudanjiang City, Heilongjiang Province, have committed countless crimes of brutality and inhumanity in the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners.
Case One:
Practitioner Hou Lihua, female, 33, single, was reported to the police for making truth-clarification materials about Falun Gong and was arrested as a result in early November 2001. Chen Liang and other police at the Aimin Police Substation subjected her to inhuman torture.
The police first tied Miss Hou to a "Tiger bench" ("Tiger Bench" is a torture method where the knees are tied tightly to a small iron bench. Usually some hard objects are inserted underneath the practitioner's lower legs or ankles to make it more difficult for them to tolerate this abuse.). They stretched her legs straight and kept adding bricks under her feet so as to force her knees to abnormally bend backwards, until after the sixth, they were not able to add anymore. At the same time, they pressed an iron shackle weighing more than 20-kilograms onto her abdomen. One police officer even sat on and squatted up and down on her chest. They put a piece of towel on the iron bench for fear of leaving visible wounds on her. Two policemen, one on each side, pulled and stretched Miss Hou's arms very hard. They used abusive language and kept laughing ferociously. When Miss Hou fell unconscious, they poured cold water on her to wake her up, and began to torture her again.
This small, thin woman only 1.5 to 1.6 meters tall, was the target of their demon nature, but that was not the end of story. Even more inhuman than these things, after seeing that she would not give in, they poured mustard oil into her nose, and they squeezed a burning cigarette stub into her nose. They covered her head with a plastic bag, calling it an "Astronaut's Helmet," such that she was not able to breathe.
The police tortured Miss Hou for 5 consecutive days without letting her sleep. Whenever she closed her eyes, they forced them open; and dirty words continually came out of their mouths. They even whispered warnings to each other not to beat her so as to leave visible wounds. However, the truth cannot be concealed.
In the end, the police sent Miss Hou, who was at her last gasp, to the detention center. Even the jailers could not look at her. Some of them wept. Seeing her too horribly disfigured, all the practitioners detained in the No. 14 cell wept and submitted a joint letter of appeal for her. Everyone wanted to be a witness. In order to shirk their responsibility, the police substation tried to deny wrongdoing by shifting the blame to the detention center. It is reported that all the staff of the detention center signed a joint testimony and appealed to Li Fu, the Director of the Mudanjiang City Police Station, who also came and looked at Miss Hou.
Until today, Miss Hou continues to be detained at the detention center, and is receiving intravenous drips. Her freedom has not been restored yet. For fear of being persecuted, Miss Hou's family members do not want to see anyone. Details are still under investigation.
Case Two:
Wang Huiqin, female, 51 years old, whose husband suffered from the after-effects of cerebral thrombosis, had her home ransacked by the police of the Aimin Substation in the middle of October 2001. Although they found nothing in the search, they forcefully arrested her.
Beating and cursing have become the habit of the police. They subject practitioners to severe torture in order to extort money and promises to give up the practice of Falun Gong. They punched Wang on the head, face, and eyes until she became all black and swollen. They blindfolded her and beat her on the back with a broom. When the broom broke, they used a mop pole to beat her on the hip and lower abdomen while they pinned her on the ground. When she lost consciousness, they poured water on her to wake her up, and then began to beat and interrogate her again. Wang was tortured half to death. Later one of the police learned from the archives that she had had a heart attack before she practiced Falun Gong, and so they finally stopped in fear of causing her death.
Wang was covered all over with bruises. Her back was all black. She was still detained for more than 20 days. Her husband died because no one took care of him during her detention and he worried about her so much. The police finally released her, but they are responsible for the death of her innocent husband.
Case Three:
Currently, while this article is being written, another female practitioner is being persecuted. The police sexually abused her in the form of a body search. They pawed her and touched her randomly all over her body, assailing her with obscenities. It is reported that many female practitioners have been subjected to this kind of indecent body search.
Common people of China, are you really accustomed to such darkness, numbness, and heartlessness? Those who reside in Mudanjiang City who have read this article, will you not be moved to ponder these issues? Dafa practitioners are using their lives to create the future. Everything they do is done just to save sentient beings.
(Clearwisdom.net) Liu Yafang, female, 43 years old, was captured by the police at Tiananmen Square when she went to Beijing to validate Dafa with her daughter in 2000. She was brought back to her hometown and was illegally imprisoned for 15 days. Then she was transferred to Jincheng Township police station and illegally imprisoned for 17 days. During her illegal imprisonment, Liu Guoping, secretary of Jincheng Township party verbally abused Dafa practitioners every day. In July 2000, Liu Guoping extorted 3,400 Yuan from her.
Li Hancai, Male, 42 years old, went to Beijing to appeal and validate Dafa in November 1999. He was sent back to a detention center and illegally imprisoned for 70 days. People from the local police department, extorted 3,000 Yuan from him. Another 4,000 Yuan went into the pockets of someone from Heping Village, and 500 Yuan were swindled from him by persons from the township police station. In June 2000, the township Political and Judiciary Committee secretary and the secretary of the township party went to beat Li Hancai and sent him to the township police station. Then he was transferred to the Shuangcheng Detention Center and illegally imprisoned for 15 days there. After that, he was transferred to Jingcheng's police station for 15 days of illegal imprisonment. Liu Guoping, secretary of Jingcheng Township's Party and his followers brutally beat and verbally abused him, extorted 800 Yuan "traveling expenses and food and boarding fee" money from him as well. On July 23, 1999, the secretary of Commune's Political and Judiciary Committee went to Heping Village to beat him and forced him to also stand outside in the sun and be exposed to the heat.
Zhang Zhongtian, male, 60 years old, went to Beijing's Appeals Office to explain to the government the advantages of Falun Dafa for the common people and for the practitioners. Liu Guoping, from the local government along with his fellow "law men," came to the doorway of the Appeals Bureau and arrested him without due process of law. Then he was sent to the Shuangcheng Liaison Office in Beijing and sent back to the Shuangcheng Detention Center the same night, to begin 39 days of illegal imprisonment. Later, he was transferred to the township government and was illegally jailed for 9 days. Then, after being illegally imprisoned at Dengjia of Aiwang Village for 3 days, he was released. In April 2000, the leader of the village underhandedly sold his farmland when Mr. Zhang was not present.
On June 28th of the lunar calendar, he was lured to the township police station by Zhang Zhaokui and was sent to the Shuangcheng Detention Center for 15 days of illegal imprisonment. Then he was transferred to the township police station and illegally imprisoned for another 15 days. Liu Guoping extorted 3,000 Yuan from him for "traveling expenses while looking for him in Beijing." The fee charged was 600 Yuan for each officer.
Zhou Fenglan, female, is 63 years old. Before she obtained Falun Dafa she was weak and had many illnesses. After she learned Falun Dafa, all of her illnesses were healed without the use of any medicine. Her family became harmonious and full of happiness. On October 26th, 2000, this older woman, together with two other practitioners, went to Beijing to appeal. On the 27th, around noon, they were arrested by the people's police from Fengtai's Police Department of Beijing. Then, she was sent to the Shuangcheng Liaison Office in Beijing and subsequently transferred to Shuangcheng's "610 Office." (An agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems) Because of her relatives' intervention, on October 30th, she was released. This was after Zhang Guofu, Wang Shengli, and Jin (female) from Shuangcheng's "Falun Dafa Special Cases Group" extorted about 3,000 Yuan from her.
Song Shuhua, female, is 47 years old. Two thousand Yuan was extorted from her by the village leaders on October 28th, 2000. On November 16th, Zhang Shiyue from "610 Office" and Bu Zhaochun from the village team extorted 702 Yuan from her. On January 27th, 2001, Zhou Meijiang and Liu Yuhua from the town community again took 1,000 Yuan from her. Later, 960 Yuan was returned. Her family gave Zhang Shiyue from the "610 Office" 3,000 Yuan as a "gift." About 2,000 Yuan has not been returned.
Han Yuru, female, is 48 years old. She went to Beijing to rectify the Fa on October 28th, 2000. Later, she was illegally sent to a detention center for imprisonment. After the leaders of the village became aware of the information, they sent Zhou Meijiang from the town community to extort 1,300 Yuan from her family members. Her family members spent more than 2,000 Yuan arranging for her release. Six days later, she was released. Afterwards, she was fined another 800 Yuan by the "610 Office". She was not given a receipt .
Liu Fenghua, female, is 46 years old. The town government representatives came to her house and hoodwinked her into going to prison. This prison was a new construction, finished on January 17th, 2001. The town government took her as hostage to extort 1,000 Yuan from her family as a 'guarantee deposit'. They wouldn't release her without receiving the money. Through her family's efforts, she was released from unlawful imprisonment after 21 days. Before her release, she was forced to write a "guarantee" (to give up Falun Dafa). She was fined 480 Yuan by representatives from the Shuangcheng Town government. Their names are: Yu Zhanqi, Yan Shanli, Ye Fulai and Liu Yuhua.
Li Shuying, female, is 69 years old. She went to Beijing to appeal and validate Falun Dafa on October 30th, 2000. She was fined 1,000 Yuan by Zhou Meijiang from Chengen Village. She was taken for 1,000 Yuan by Zhang Guofu and Zhang Shiyue from the "610 Office". Zhou Meijiang from Chengen Village took 1,702 Yuan from her in December. On January 27th, 2001, she was forced to attend a brainwashing class and was fined 1,000 Yuan by Zhou Meijiang and Wang from the Town Community. They returned 940 Yuan later.
Tong Wencheng, male, 47 years old, was illegally imprisoned in the Second Detention Center and was extorted 200 Yuan "meal fee" when he went to Beijing to appeal and validate Dafa in August 1999. In February 2000, he went to Beijing to appeal again, and was illegally imprisoned in the First Detention Center and was extorted 350 Yuan for a "meal fee." When he went to Beijing to appeal for the third time on October 28th, 2000, he was brutally beaten with electric batons by a policemen from Tiananmen's Police Station in Beijing. He has been illegally imprisoned in the Changlinzi Forced Labor Camp until now, and is suffering inhumane tortures. We hope all kind people will extend their support to rescue him.
Xu Shuling, female, is 38 years old. Zhang Shiyue and Zhang Guofu from the "610 Office," extorted 1,600 Yuan from her. That was on May 15th, 2000. Zhao, from Political and Security Section of the police department took 1,000 Yuan from her on May 17th . Three hundred thirty Yuan was taken from her by Liu Yuhua from the Shuangcheng Detention Center on May 20th. Another 1,000 Yuan was taken by Zhou Meijiang from the town community on February 1st, 2001. Zhou Meijiang returned 960 Yuan to her later.
Guo Furong, female, 47 years old, was tricked by representatives from the town community into going to the detention center on February 1st, 2001. She wasn't released until she was forced to hand in 1,000 Yuan, which Bu Zhaochun and Yu Zhanqi from the Shuangcheng Town community took from her.
Yang Hua, female, 33 years old, was forced to attend a brainwashing class in April 2000. She went on a hunger strike during this period. Liu Yuhua, from the Town "610 Office," and his accomplices, Ran Lingcai and Yan Shanli, extorted 200 Yuan from her. On January 2nd, 2001, she was forced to attend a brainwashing class again. The determined practitioners were forced to stand still for a long period of time and were not allowed to sleep. That even included 10-year-old children.
Wang Xianfen, female, 59 years old was arrested without a warrant by full time representative Liu Guoping from the local government. The arrest took place at the doorway of the Appeals Bureau in Beijing when she went there to explain the real situation to the country's representatives. She was sent to the Shuangcheng Liaison Office in Beijing and the same night was sent back to the Shuangcheng Detention Center to begin 39 days of illegal imprisonment. Then she was transferred to her township government for 9 days of imprisonment. After being imprisoned in Dengjia, Aiwang Village for another 3 days, she was released. In April 2000, in her absence, Liu Guoping from Jicheng Village, Shuangcheng City, sold her farmland.
In May, 2001, she was taken away and forced to attend a brainwashing class by Zhang Zhaokui from the township police station. She was illegally imprisoned for 8 days and was not allowed to practice the exercises and study the Fa. She was deprived of her personal freedom, including freedom of speech and freedom to practice her belief. In August 2000, she was extorted 3,000 Yuan by the township authorities.
Zhang Shufeng, female, is 35 years old. In January 2001, Zhang Zhaokui and Luo, from Jincheng township police station, came to her home and asked her whether or not she practiced Falun Gong. After she said yes, they told her to dress herself immediately and made her go to the township to see a propaganda video. They said they would send her back at 5 pm, but she was actually imprisoned there for 33 days, without due process of law. Liu Guoping, the fulltime officer for Jincheng Township's police station forced practitioners to write a 'guarantee letter' (to guarantee to give up Falun Dafa), using all kinds of depraved means, and brutally beat those who refused to write the statement. Finally, after being extorted 660 Yuan by Liu Guoping, she was released.
Song Guilan, female, 38 years old, was captured and brought to the local government's Liaison Office in Beijing on 10th day of the first month of 2000, according to the lunar calendar, when she went to Beijing to appeal. There she was body-searched and they forcefully confiscated 20 Yuan, brutally beat and illegally imprisoned her for 11 days. After that, she was sent to the Baoding region for 4 days of illegal imprisonment. Following that, she was sent back to the Shuangcheng Detention Center for 42 days' additional imprisonment. Next, she was fined 340 Yuan for a "meal fee," extorted for 45 Yuan by Sui, and secretaries of the team, Xi Yuku and Zhou Yushuang. She was directly sent to the police station and was placed under house arrest for one day. Then, she was imprisoned for another 51 days at the Old Folks Home. Finally, she was released.
On November 13th, she went to Beijing to appeal and speak words of justice for Dafa again and was arrested by policemen at Tiananmen Square. After that incident, she was sent to Haidian's Police Department and was put into the Fifth Prison where the common criminals brutally beat her. On January 20, 2001, she was deceived and placed under house arrest by Cheng Fubin and Jin Guozhu from the police station and also under deception from those in the commune. They forcefully brainwashed her, beat her brutally, did not give her any water for washing, and forbid her to go to the toilet. The house she stayed in was so cold that her hands were frozen. During this period, she was beaten till she almost died. The criminal perpetrator is Wang Jichun, director of the Dancheng Township Irrigation Works Bureau, and also Xiao Jianzhao. They often behaved like hooligans, confiscated money they found in practitioners' pockets, forbid practitioners to sleep, forced practitioners to stand still till daybreak, and sometimes even threatened and extorted practitioners' relatives. After 76 days of illegal imprisonment in the commune, she was sent to Shuangcheng's Party School and was brainwashed for 21 days to give up her belief. When her health deteriorated, she was released back home, because the authorities were afraid of taking responsibility for her condition.
Liu Kunlan, female, is 53 years old. In December 1999 her son went to Beijing to appeal. Then the village leaders, policemen, Yu Zhanguo, and Qi Zhenquan came to her home to illegally search her house. In January 2001, her daughter-in-law went to Beijing to appeal and was brought back. Some people from the township forcibly took her away and illegally put her into a detention center for imprisonment. They even intended to forcefully take away her farming vehicles and house certificate.
Yang Yajuan, female, is 32 years old. In December 1999, because her husband went to Beijing to appeal, officials with the names of Xu Wenli, Yu Zhanguo, Qi Zhenquan illegally searched her house and forcibly drove her farming vehicle away. She was illegally imprisoned for 12 hours. In January 2001, she was captured for going to Beijing to appeal. Then she was illegally imprisoned for 45 days by the local government and after that, she was illegally imprisoned for another 20 days by the township government. During this period, the township government asked a local ruffian to abuse, beat and freeze her and another female practitioner. The women were also ordered to stay in the same room with the ruffian. At night, the shifting guards prevented them from sleeping. So they promoted Dafa to the guards. But those guards answered, "Whatever you say is useless. This is the order from the superiors. Even if you are beaten to death, there's no one who would be held responsible for your death. It is Jiang Zemin who does not allow you to practice." It is obvious that there is no law in China at all. Later, after she was extorted for 4,800 Yuan by scofflaws Liu Guoping, Luo Yanbin, Lu Jinghua and Yu Zhanguo, she was released.
Yu Fenchi, male, is 59 years old. In September 1999, his ID card was stolen by someone from the team. Liang Shuyi, Du Chunfa, Liang Zhiwei often went to his home to intimidate and threaten him not to practice or go to Beijing to appeal.
Li Yalin, male, is 31 years old. His wife went to Beijing to appeal in June 2000. Then one night at about 10 p.m. Tian Chunlai from the commune, with several others from the police station, went to his home and forcibly took him to the police station for one night of illegal imprisonment. His farmland was forcibly taken back. (In China, farmers never outright own their land. They only permanently lease it for a certain amount of years from the government.) Then he was released. In April 2001, he and his wife were captured again by enforcers from the Handian Commune and were sent to the Shuangcheng " 615 Special Cases" Group. Because his wife was going to give birth, Li Yalin was shut in the detention center in her stead. He was illegally detained for a month and also been extorted for 100 Yuan by Zhang Shiyue for a "meal fee." Later, he began to practice Falun Dafa and became a determined Dafa practitioner. Now he solemnly announced that the "guarantee letters" he wrote, together with all the words and deeds that did not accord with Dafa before his practice of cultivation are all invalid.
Zhou Liju, female, 42 years old, went to Beijing to appeal on July 20, 1999. The Appeals Bureau brought her to the Shuangcheng Liaison Office in Beijing. Then she was forcibly body searched, was relieved of 50 Yuan, handcuffed and beaten. She completely lost her personal freedom. After 8 days of illegal imprisonment she was sent to the Shuangcheng Second Detention Center for another 38 days of imprisonment. During those days she suffered inhumane treatment. Her body, as well as her mind, was hurt tremendously. After being fined 1,500 Yuan by people named Liu Chunyang and Jin Wanzhi, an additional 340 Yuan for a "meal fee", and 200 Yuan by the town government representatives, she was released.
Shi Baoying, female, 44 years old, was deceived to go to the detention center on February 1, 2000. Before she was released, she was extorted 1,000 Yuan by Bu Zhaochun and Yu Zhanqi.
Nie Zhenduo, male, 59 years old, went to Beijing in November 2000 to request the government restore the reputation of Teacher and Dafa. He was arrested and suffered brutal beatings from the driver of the police vehicle. Then he was transferred to the Shuangcheng Detention Center. A policeman who slapped his mouth also punched him in his belly. On November 15, 2000 he was extorted 1,500 Yuan by the Shuangcheng Detention Center. And on January 23, 2001 he also was fined 4,200 Yuan by Song Bolin from Dancheng's police station, in the name of "the fee for looking for him."
Wang Yumei, female, 41 years old. Zhao Hongshu and his followers from Zhenhuazhi Village, Jincheng Town, Shuangcheng City, forced her to go to the village to write a "guarantee letter." They threatened to send her to the police department for persecution if she refused to write it.
Liu Zongrong, female, 49 years old, went to Beijing to appeal and validate Dafa. She was arrested on December 13, 2000 and sent to the Tiananmen Police Station by officers from that station. The same afternoon she was transferred to the Pinggu Detention Center where the bad people brutally beat her, verbally abused her and forced her to stand still for a long time. On January 23, 2001, at the "Spring Festival," team secretary Zhou Yushuang, an individual named Wang from the commune, and others, came to her home to extort a 2,000 Yuan "deposit" from her. Since she had no money, she was brought to the commune and illegally imprisoned for one month. During this period she suffered beatings and other abuse and completely lost her freedom. More than 20 male and female practitioners were put into one room without a bed or a quilt, with the temperature below 0o C ( 20 degrees F --- 32 degrees F is the freezing mark). They have been illegally imprisoned for more than one month in such an environment.
Zhao Xiangli, male, is 52 years old. Liang Shuyi, from Shengping Village, forcibly took Zhao Xiangli's ID card and house certificate as a deposit. Liang often went to his home to threaten him in order to deter him from going to Beijing to appeal. Once, when someone from the village found him practicing at home, he had his house illegally searched and was fined 2,000 Yuan by these individuals: Liang Shuyi, Du Chunfa and Liang Zhiwei, from Shengping Village.
Zhang Xiutian, female, 56 years old, went to Beijing to appeal in October, 1999 and was illegally detained for one night at a detention center and extorted for a 3,000 Yuan "guarantee fee" by Zhang Guofu and Zhang Shiyue from the "610 Office." In April, 2000 she went to Beijing to validate Falun Dafa again. This time she was illegally imprisoned for more than one month at a detention center and was extorted for 300 Yuan for a "meal fee." At the end of 2000, she was sent back to Shuangcheng City and suffered from freezing temperatures for one night at the Old Folks Home.
Dong Shufang, male, 55 years old. When he came back from Beijing after appealing for Falun Gong in September 1999, he went to the town government to work. Then he was illegally arrested and sent to the Shuangcheng Second Detention Center by enforcers from the "610 Office," Handian Town government. After 5 months' illegal imprisonment and abuse he was released. During this period, he was fined 5,000 Yuan by people from the "610 Office" of Shuangcheng City; 3,000 Yuan by scofflaws from the Handian Police Station and Town government. On January 26, 2000 he was again illegally arrested and sent to the Shuangcheng Second Detention Center with the trumped-up charge of "being in cahoots with others." This time he was illegally imprisoned for 6 months. Before his release he was extorted 300 Yuan by politicians from the "610 Office" of Shuangcheng City.
Fu Zhiqing, female, 46 years old, was forced to write a "guarantee letter" by Zhao Shuhong from Huayuan village, and by others. They threatened to arrest her or send her to a forced labor camp if she refused to write a statement.

Hanqiang, male, 33 years old, was forced to leave home to avoid illegal arrest in September 2000. Later he went to Beijing to validate Dafa, and was arrested on Tiananmen Square on November 13th, 2000. During his stay in Beijing, he was first illegally detained at Xicheng District Detention Center, and then transferred to Beijing City Detention Center, Fengtai Detention Center, Daxing County, Shen County. At last he was sent to Baoding City's No. 1 Prison in Hebei Province and was illegally sentenced for 5 years. The police did not notify his family of his arrest until July 2001, and allowed his family to visit him only once since then. His family members were not allowed to see him unless being notified. He did not cooperate with the evil during the whole process, and persisted in protesting by going on hunger strike.
Wang Jiasheng, male, 35 years old, went to Beijing to validate Dafa in October 2000. He was sent back to Cangzhou and illegally detained at the City's No.2 Detention Center, and later illegally sentenced to 4 years of imprisonment. He is now illegally imprisoned in Tangshan City's Fengnan Prison, Hebei Province.
Wang Bin, male, 31 years old, forced to leave home to avoid illegal arrest in September 2000 under the threat of local police. Later he went to Beijing to validate Dafa, and was arrested on Tiananmen Square on November 13, 2000. He was then sent back and illegally detained for 3 months. After his release, his employer, the Bank of China, fired him. In June 2001 he became homeless again. On August 18, 2001 he was illegally arrested by a special team of the "6.10 Office" [An agency specifically created to persecute Falun gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems] for sending e-mails exposing the persecution against Dafa practitioners. Currently, he is still illegally detained in Cangzhou City's No.1 Detention Center, and classified as "a person to be strictly monitored." His family was not allowed to visit him.
Gao Zengyun, male, is 39 years old. Because he was involved in Dafa truth-clarifying activities, the scofflaws found out his mobile phone number from the mobile phone of another practitioner who had been arrested. He was illegally arrested by the "6.10 Office" on August 9, 2001. They arrested him at work. Currently, he is still illegally detained in Cangzhou City's No.1 Detention Center, being classified as "a person to be strictly monitored," and is not allowed to be visited by his family.
Zhang Changjun, male, was forced to leave home to avoid illegal arrest in June 2001. He has been outside of his hometown ever since. On August 16, 2001, the "6.10 Office" illegally arrested him at his rented apartment. Currently, he is still illegally detained in Cangzhou City's No.1 Detention Center, and classified as "a person to be strictly monitored". His family is not allowed to visit him.
Yang Quanli, male, was arrested for distributing Dafa truth-clarifying materials. On July 29, 2001,the"6.10 Office" tricked him with contemptible means into opening the door to his house, and then illegally arrested him without warrant. When the police dragged him into the police van, a policeman pressed his lower jaw with an arm to prevent people around from hearing what he was saying, "The Policeman is beating people, Falun Dafa is good." At that time, his face was injured. Then the police pushed him into a light green van. He is still illegally detained in Cangzhou City's No.1 Detention Center, and classified as "a person to be strictly monitored." His wife Zhang Yumei was also illegally detained in Cangzhou City's No.2 Detention Center, and was later released.
Gao Daxing, male, 29 years old, was forced to leave home to avoid illegal arrest in June 2001. The police had found his home phone number from the pager of another practitioner who had been arrested. He was later identified on the street by two policemen from Yunhe District Police Department and was illegally arrested. He is still illegally detained in Cangzhou City's No.1 Detention Center, being classified as "a person to be strictly monitored," and is not allowed to be visited by his family.
Cheng Rulin, male, from Huangye City, became homeless to avoid illegal arrest threats from local police. He stayed in Cangzhou to do truth-clarifying work for Dafa, and was illegally detained by the "6.10 Office" at the end of July 2001. He is still illegally detained in Cangzhou City's No.1 Detention Center, being classified as "a person to be strictly monitored." His family was not allowed to visit him.
Wang Mingduo, male, staff of China Construction Bank Cangzhou Branch, was illegally sentenced to 3 years in 2000 for distributing Dafa truth-clarifying materials.
On a list published on Clearwisdom.net of practitioners who were illegally sentenced, the 90th one listed was Liu Zesheng (ex-chief assistant of Hebei Province Cangzhou City Dafa practice sites). He was illegally sentenced to 4 years for the so-called crime of "divulging State secrets", because he exposed the policemen's persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. Cao Xinghua, Director of Cangzhou City's Mengcun County Police Department was also illegally sentenced to 4 years for the same thing.
Note: The "6.10 Office" issued a so-called "arrest notice" to the above practitioners who were detained in Cangzhou City's No.1 Detention Center on November 11, 2001, but did not allow their family members to visit them until November 25, 2001.

Cao Xifeng, male, 46 years old. On November 16, 2000, Cao went to Beijing to make appeals to the government and to validate Dafa. Police arrested him on Tiananmen Square. When he was illegally detained at Wuchang City's Liaison Office in Beijing, police did a body search and took 100 Yuan from him (Note: the monthly salary for an average Chinese urban laborer is about 500 Yuan). Later, he was detained by the Wuchang City Public Security Bureau, and released after he went on hunger strike. In January of 2001, 1,000 Yuan was extorted from him by the Chief of the Niujia Police Branch, and then 1,230 Yuan by Liu Fang, head of the Wuchang City Public Security Bureau.
Cao Xuewen, male, 49 years old. On November 16, 2000, Cao went to Beijing to validate Dafa, but police illegally arrested him on Tiananmen. He was kept in custody in Harbin City's Beijing office and later transferred to Wuchang City's Liaison Office where the only money he had, 82 Yuan, was taken from him after a body search. On November 19, 2000, he was escorted back to Wuchang City and illegally detained for 45 days. He started a hunger strike to demand his unconditional release. Cao was finally released after a family member agreed to be his guarantor. On November 25, 2000, the head of the Niujia Police Branch extorted 1,000 Yuan from Cao. On April 11, 2001, he was forced and tricked by the Wuchang "610 Office" (a bureau specifically created by the Chinese government to persecute Falun Gong. It has absolute power over each level of administration in the Party, as well as over the political and judiciary branches) into attending a brainwashing class. On April 11, in the name of room and board expenses, Liu Xiaoling from Wuchang City's "610 Office" took another 330 Yuan from him, and Wu Hongzhang from Jinshan Detention Branch took 460 Yuan from him prior to his release. After that, Cao realized the gravity of having renounced his beliefs, so he wrote a public "solemn statement" to vow to continue practicing Dafa. Cao was arrested four times by the Niujia Police Branch. As a result, he was forced to leave home for half a year to avoid more illegal arrests.
Jin Changxin, male, 37 years old. On November 16, 2000, he went to Beijing to make appeals and validate Dafa, but was arrested on Tiananmen by police. When he was illegally detained at Wuchang City's Liaison Office in Beijing, he had 240 Yuan taken after a body search. In January of 2001, he was escorted back to Wuchang City, where 1,000 Yuan was extorted from him by the head of the Niujia Police Branch. Liu Fang of the Wuchang City Public Security Bureau also took 1,230 Yuan from Jin.
Cheng Jing, female, 53 years old. On November 16, 2000, she went to Beijing to make appeals for Dafa, but was arrested on Tiananmen by police. When she was illegally detained at Wuchang City's Liaison Office in Beijing, and 150 Yuan was confiscated during an illegal body search. Later, Jing was detained at the Wuchang City Public Security Bureau, and she was never told how long they planned to detain her. However, she was released after a 13-day hunger strike. On November 22, 2000, Jinshan Detention Branch forced her to pay 230 Yuan for her meals. On February 7, 2001, for no apparent reason, the head of the Niujia Police Branch detained her for 107 days in the Wuchang Detention Center. On May 23, 2001, Liu Fang, who works at the Wuchang City Public Security Bureau and the Wuchang City "610 Office," extorted 270 Yuan from her.
Ao Rongxue, male, 45 years old. Ao was detained for 24 hours from July 22 to 23, 1999 for making appeals to the provincial government for Falun Dafa. On November 17, 2000, he went to Beijing to make appeals and validate Dafa, but was illegally arrested and escorted back to Wuchang City, where he was detained for 45 days. During this period of time, Liu Fang of the Wuchang City Public Security Bureau extorted 1,400 Yuan from him. On December 23 of the Chinese Lunar Calendar, 2000 (1/17/2001) he was illegally detained for four days by the Hongqi Township local police and township officials. Ao was tortured and his home was ransacked. He also had 1,500 Yuan taken by Yang Chunguang of the Hongqi Township government.
Qiao Lihua, female, 34 years old. After July 20, 1999, local government officials illegally seized all of her Dafa books. On November 15, 2000, she went to Beijing to make appeals and validate Dafa, but was arrested and detained for 16 days. The local police extorted 2,000 Yuan from her and 1,000 Yuan from her family before she was released.
Zhang Yanchao, male, 35 years old. On November 13, 2000, Zhang validated Dafa in Beijing, after which 200 Yuan was extorted from him. Later, he was arrested and detained for 36 days by the Lalin Township police in Wuchang City. The Wuchang City Public Security Bureau took 1,400 Yuan from Zhang. Police of Lalin Township and local officials constantly harassed him and interfered with his daily life.
(Clearwisdom.net) I am a disabled woman living in a mountainous region, who has to rely on crutches to walk. My husband cannot speak. My daughter introduced Dafa to me in 1996. Because I had a lot of attachments at that time, coupled with the fact that I am a disabled person and cannot read, I hesitated for some time, feeling myself inferior. Later, in a dream I vividly saw Master Li kindly smiling at me. On several other occasions I saw Falun rotating on the cover as soon as I picked up the book Zhuan Falun. I was extremely surprised and happy. Since then I started on the cultivation path.
Although both of us are disabled, we still have to do heavy work to make a living. However, the burdens of life did not dampen my desire to cultivate, and I felt life was becoming more relaxed and easier. As I am illiterate, reading was a problem for me. There were no other Dafa practitioners living nearby, so whenever I came across a person who could read, I would ask them to teach me a word. I learned word by word in this way, until one day I dreamed of Master teaching me to read "Lunyu." After I woke up, I was able to read. Now, whether it is a Dafa book or one of Master's articles, I can read them all. What a miracle! Through studying the Fa and cultivating my heart, I feel my heart has become purer and purer and my body healthier and healthier.
After July 20, 1999, a few people with ulterior motives abused their power and utilized radio, TV and newspapers to slander Dafa on a rampant scale. I felt extremely sad in my heart. One day seemed like a year. I thought to myself, "This is not right, I must go to Beijing to reason with them." So, I borrowed a hundred Yuan from my parents and made my way to Beijing. I endured a lot of hardships throughout the journey. At Tiananmen Square I found a spot, sat down and started to do the hand movements for meditation. A moment later a police van rushed over and several policemen pushed and dragged me into the van. At the Tiananmen Police Station I told them my name and my address because I did not realize then that I should not cooperate with the evil persecution. Thus, I was escorted back by police officers to a local detention center to continue the illegal detention there. During this period I was repeatedly interrogated. They asked me, "What were you doing in Beijing?" "Letting the government learn about Falun Gong, and to restore our environment for studying the Fa and doing the exercises," I replied. "How did you think you would manage to return home by taking only one hundred Yuan with you?" "I never thought about this. I could beg my way back." I said.
Once, an interrogator carelessly wrote a lot of things on a piece of paper and asked me to put my fingerprint on it. I thought, "Who knows what you have written." I refused his request. Then they beat me. I thought, "I am a Dafa practitioner, I would not give in even if you beat me to death." I was later released after being illegally detained for one month.
Although I live in the remote mountainous region, I was still able to read Master's new articles in due time. Master's Fa encouraged me to cultivate diligently. However, one could hardly imagine that even in such a remote mountain village, one could not escape the evil persecution. The wicked people often came to my home to harass me, asking me to turn in Dafa books. Sometimes, they would come several times a month. However, they did not get even a piece of paper.
On August 9th of the Chinese calendar this year, while I was out watching the cattle grazing on a hill, several wicked people came. Without any explanation, they took me down the hill by force, saying they were taking me to the police station in town. I refused to comply. More than 10 people rushed over and carried me away, against my will. At the police station they forced me to tell them where I got the flyers and asked me to reveal the names of other practitioners. That would never do! Then, several dozen people came up and beat me with fists and kicked me. I held out and endured the beating. They did not know what to do with me, so they sent me to the county police department. Before I got into the vehicle I repeatedly shouted, "My Master is a very kind and benevolent person. Falun Dafa is the righteous Fa. It teaches people 'Truth, Compassion, Forbearance!'" Immediately many people gathered in a crowd around us. Some people said, "This grandma is really pitiful. She has a crippled leg, and they still treat her like this." Those wicked people had no place to hide for their shame. They hastily pushed me into the vehicle and took me to the county authorities. All the way they hit me with fists and kicked me.
At the county police department, a policeman who was about to beat me asked, "What have you done to be brought here?" "I am a Falun Gong practitioner. I was arrested while watching cattle grazing on a hill." He was shocked and moved aside. Then a group of plainclothes police officers came and dragged me into another room. The room was very dark. Later I learned this was a specially rented room outside the police department by the wicked people for persecuting Dafa practitioners so as to avoid public attention. As soon as I entered the room, several people came over and hung my left hand up. As my left leg is disabled, I could only stand on my right tiptoe. The room was so dark that I could not see their faces clearly. I countered their ridiculous interrogation with total silence, which made them extremely furious and they beat me, savagely and cruelly.
In the daytime more than ten people would beat me. At night, six wicked people would beat me in turn. Countless pounding from fists, kicks and sticks landed on my body. I kept reciting the Fa- rectification verses in silence, which enabled me to bear the tremendous physical pain and the mental torment. When the pains reached the limit of my endurance, I thought of those great gods, and my heart was filled with great respect and benevolence. So, I placed my right hand vertically in front of my chest to send forth righteous thoughts. They became extremely scared. After a moment of chaos, they hung up my right hand and started to beat me even more brutally, and shouted, "We shall beat you to death, because your village head has told us to. Nobody will know if you are beaten to death. We will send you directly to the crematorium." I firmly berated them, "Do you think you can remain at large this way? Let me tell you, gods are everywhere! They are even only three feet above your head. Although human beings may let you go free, heaven will not! Your evildoings will be exposed. You will be condemned by people and punished by heaven for not even letting a disabled person alone!" A wicked person said, "Then I will beat you till you are half dead ..."
They continued to beat me like this for one day and one night. When I lost consciousness, they would pour cold water on my body. When I regained consciousness they would continue with the beating. My blood was all over the floor, and my body was covered with wounds. Still, I was firm in my heart and withstood the torture. It was Dafa that gave me the strong will.
On the second evening, when they finished beating me, they themselves felt extremely exhausted and tired. They said to themselves, "Oh dear, she is still alive after such beatings. If it had been someone else, she would have died yesterday ..."
Next, they handcuffed both of my hands. Then, they put a heavy desk on my arms and forced me to bend my back. I could not stand nor squat. Then they hit me with sticks from all directions, like falling rain. I held out another day and night under such cruel torture.
On the third day, these dozens of wicked people felt extremely exhausted. They had no more tricks left, so they had to give up and sent me to a detention center. In the detention center, my appearance from the vicious beatings made other people feel scared and terrified.
Later on I went on a hunger strike to protest. More than ten people force-fed me together, using pliers to pry apart my teeth and leaving blood- blisters all over my mouth. During the countless times of torture, threats and extortion, I told these wicked people, "You will get nothing from me, even if you kill me!"
Being a Dafa practitioner, it is Dafa that gave me the boundless strength and the broad- mindedness, which enabled me to pass through dangers of life and death several times and to firmly withstand it all.
After about one month or so, a policeman from the police department came to the detention center and asked me, "Have you thought it through?" I said, "I have nothing to think about and nothing to say to you." They were completely defeated. I was unconditionally released on September 9th of the Chinese calendar.
After I came out, I continuously exposed the vicious acts of those wicked people, which has awakened many people's conscience and enabled them to tell good from evil.
As I mentioned before, my husband and I are both disabled. We hope someone will tell my story to the "World Association for the Disabled" and let the world know what is going on in China under the control of those few "clowns." It is also my hope that people who love peace and kindness do not take an indifferent attitude or watch from a distance. Let us condemn and stop this evil persecution with our joint efforts.

We are practitioners in China making Dafa materials. I obtained the Fa late and have had financial problems. One day, a veteran practitioner told me about their experiences while spreading the Fa in rural areas.
The practitioner, S., said, "When we were spreading the Fa in rural areas, it was very difficult to buy food. We usually brought instant noodles with us to eat on the way. When the local people wanted to cook for us, we politely refused. One practitioner went to spread the Fa in the village where his father-in-law lived. When his in-laws had a meal ready for him, he did not eat. The villagers asked him why he would not have a meal in his in-laws' home. The practitioner said, 'If I had a meal in my in-laws home, so should the other practitioners who came with me. We came here to spread the Fa, and what we do represents the image of the Fa.' Since then, whenever practitioners went to spread the Fa in rural areas, they always prepared and brought food with them.
"The people living in rural areas do not have conditions as good as those in the urban areas. In the beginning, nobody wanted to spend the more than 100 Yuan (Chinese currency, the monthly salary for an average Chinese urban laborer is about 500 Yuan, 167 Yuan for an average rural labor) it took to buy a tape player/recorder. I'm not sure who started it but, one after the other, the practitioners in the urban areas voluntarily bought tape player/recorders and sent them to the practitioners in the rural areas. The people in rural areas thought the tape player/recorders were gifts and everyone asked for one. Later, through studying the Fa, they understood. They decided they should not take the tape player/recorders for free. They collected money and wanted to give it to us, but we politely declined.
"So they thought, 'They won't take our money, why don't we go to spread the Fa like them. We could use the money to buy tape player/recorders for others who have financial difficulties.' When they all did that, the efficacy of spreading the Fa was very good.
"Once I went to a town. The contact person of the local practitioners asked if I could give him another tape player/recorder because they had more and more people joining in and wanted to set up another practice site. I asked them how long they had been practicing and got a general idea about their local situation. Then I said smiling, 'I don't have a tape player/recorder in hand. But you can keep practicing together and I will send one to you once I get one.' After a while I visited them again, and found that they had already solved the tape player/recorder problem among themselves. The contact person felt so embarrassed about his request for a tape player/recorder from me the last time that he would not mention it."
I listened to their stories silently and suddenly understood why practitioner S. would not accept money from the practitioners living in other places when we sent Dafa materials to them, even when our own financial condition was not good. As he said, "We are spreading the Fa, not selling Dafa materials."
Practitioner S. does not have a high level of education, and is usually quiet when we talk about cultivation experiences. But a pure and kind heart can move other people. So when he said softly, "No matter how good you think you have practiced, you should not consider yourself as special or outstanding," I was almost moved to tears.

I am a driver. I have experienced dramatic changes in my mind and body ever since practicing Falun Dafa. It has made an impact on the people around me, as well. The following is a story about my own experiences.
One day in September of 1996, when I was driving a jeep on the way back to my workplace, I saw a crowd of people ahead. It looked like an accident. I stopped when I saw a car on the side of the road, upside down. Two people were carrying a man from the car, and his head was covered with blood. I opened the door of my jeep to have them to carry the man directly into the jeep. I asked them, "How many people are injured? Bring them all into my jeep." They were just people who volunteered to help. They said, "We don't know, but his situation is urgent. You just go ahead with this one. We will stop other vehicles for the rest of the injured people." I agreed, so I jumped into the jeep and drove to the county hospital. When we were near the town, the injured man was able to produce a moan. He told me in broken sentences that there were five of them in the car and that they were from the city power bureau.
I took him to the emergency room at the county hospital and immediately informed the city power bureau. They sent vehicles and doctors to the site of the accident and some people to the hospital. Seeing that they had everything arranged, I went home.
A month later, the heads of the city power bureau and the county power bureau went to my workplace with a silk banner to thank me. They also gave me 500 Yuan as a reward. They said to me, "You have done such a good deed yet you didn't leave us your name and contact information. It was so difficult to find you." I said, "I am a Falun Dafa practitioner. I just did what I ought to do in that situation, to rescue the injured. I cannot take the money. Please donate it to the Hope Project to help the children who cannot afford school."
They told me, "The injured man that you took to the hospital was Chen Bing (pseudonym). After you drove away, the other four injured people were carried to the side of the highway. The volunteer helpers tried to stop passing vehicles. More than ten vehicles drove by, but none of them stopped. The drivers simply drove on as if they didn't see the injured people lying on the roadside. They finally stopped a truck to carry all the injured people to the hospital. Because of the delay, one person died upon arrival at the hospital." Hearing this, I felt sad for the person that had died and for those drivers.
Several days later, Chen Bing took his wife and kid to visit me. They called me a benefactor who saved his life, giving me a thousand thanks. He said that he was seriously injured. If it weren't for the immediate rescue, he would have died. I said, "You don't have to thank me. It is because I practice Falun Dafa that I learned to treat people kindly and always think of others. Any Falun Dafa practitioner would do the same in that situation. If you really want to thank someone, thank the teacher of Falun Dafa. It is his teaching that has changed me." He was moved and said, "Then please thank Falun Dafa and your teacher for me. I wish all the drivers in the world were Falun Dafa practitioners "
(Clearwisdom.net) I am an old man. I have experienced many tribulations in my life. Due to fatigue and damage to my body, I suffered kidney disease before the age of thirty and heart disease when I was near forty years of age. I felt that I would rather die than live with the torture of chronic illness. My medical expenses became a heavy burden to my family. I wanted to get an artificial heart in early 1990, but couldn't afford the cost of the operation, so I continued to suffer in pain day by day. My body began to show toxic reactions and became bruised all over due to the large amount of medicine I had consumed over such a long time.
In the spring of 1997 I started to practice Falun Gong. After practicing for just twenty days, I felt that my health had significantly improved and decided to stop taking medicine. A day later, I was too happy to even sleep, realizing I hadn't taken any medicine for the past twenty-four hours. For 20 years, you see, I had taken medicine daily, closely following a medication schedule. Since then I have not needed any medicine or injections, yet have enjoyed excellent health. Doesn't my experience confirm that Falun Gong is beyond science?
When Jiang Zemin's terrorist organization started to persecute Falun Gong in July of 1999, several of my co-workers and some policemen came to my house to tell me to stop practicing Falun Gong. I replied solemnly, "I began to practice Falun Gong to get rid of my illnesses. I gained my health back in just one month. Prior to that, I visited all of the major hospitals in the province and all of the famous doctors in the area to treat my illnesses, but none of them was able to cure me. Falun Gong is such a good way of cultivation practice. Who could be so bad that they want me to stop practicing and die? Furthermore, Teacher's books tell us to become better people. If you are not a good person, your illnesses will not be cured. Is it a crime to be a good person? Nowadays, how can people distinguish right from wrong and good from bad? Ask my neighbors and co-workers and they will tell you that I had required various types of medication for many years. I couldn't even breathe normally before." I became excited as I continued to say, "Teacher saved me. Falun Dafa gave me a new life. No matter what you want to do to me, I have made up my mind to steadfastly study Falun Dafa and to follow Teacher closely." Seeing my determination, they left without a word.
When I began practicing, I saw that other practitioners were able to read the books and study the Fa diligently. I was illiterate, however, and so worried that I held Teacher's books in my hands and simply cried. I determined to learn how to read and was able to read Zhuan Falun and other Dafa books shortly thereafter. Many people witnessed the changes in me. As a result, after I clarified the truth of Falun Dafa to people in my surrounding environment, my supervisors were soon after able to understand Falun Dafa further. When corrupt police forced practitioners to attend brainwashing classes, my supervisors withstood the pressure from authorities, resisting the persecution by saying, "These practitioners are good people. Why do you want to transform them? Go do what you should do."
Falun Dafa gave me a new life. The great compassionate Teacher saved me from suffering and created a miracle for me. This is a truth that Jiang Zemin's evil political organization cannot deny.
No words can describe a Falun Dafa practitioner's wonderful inner-self. I wrote down these personal experiences, hoping to share the joy and happiness of practicing Falun Dafa and to benefit others who read this article.
(Clearwisdom) This past Saturday (December 8), New York City practitioners gathered in front of the Chinese Consulate to send forth righteous thoughts. On this day, however, an ice-cold rain was pounding down on the city and a hard wind was blowing off the Hudson River straight up 42nd Street where practitioners gather across from the Chinese consulate.
Upon arriving at the consulate, I was moved that so many practitioners still showed up in such terrible weather. In fact, the number of practitioners that showed up appeared to be exactly the same as on any other day -- the difficult weather had not deterred the practitioners at all.
Because New York City had been enjoying very nice weather for the past few days, many practitioners were not fully prepared for the weather -- most did not have gloves or protective gear for their bags and shoes.
As we practiced in between sending forth righteous thoughts, I was moved by some things I observed. One man stood perfectly still doing the second exercise, even though he had neither gloves nor rain cover. It was freezing cold with rain pounding down, but he did not waver the slightest. His face looked calm and peaceful as he practiced straight through to the end.
A few practitioners who had brought umbrellas stood quietly behind other practitioners who were practicing without any cover from the rain and shielded them with their umbrellas as they practiced.
One practitioner ran to the nearest store to buy plastic garbage bags and quietly walked through the crowd of practitioners doing the fifth exercise, wrapping their shoes, bags and other things in bags to protect them from the rain.
I felt there was something very righteous occurring on this rainy, cold and windy afternoon, so I took out my camera and took some pictures of the scene...

On December 10, 2001, Los Angeles Falun Gong Practitioners were invited to a Human Rights Day activity organized by the United Nations Association Pacific-LA Chapter and Citizens' Commission on Human Rights International.
In the morning there was a concert and an awards ceremony. Before the concert, a reporter from the World Journal interviewed Western Falun Gong practitioner Gina and her father. Many attendees signed their names on the appeal letter calling for an urgent rescue of Falun Gong practitioners being persecuted in mainland China.
The afternoon session included many speeches. We know from studying the Fa that all the problems in the world are caused by the deviated moral standards existing in the world today. At present, the world needs "Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance" more than ever before. Practitioner Gina gave an impromptu speech. She listed the facts and statistical data showing that Jiang Zemin's regime has violently violated Falun Gong practitioners' basic human rights and freedom of belief over the past two years. She pointed out that the persecution of people who follow the principles of "Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance" is a crime committed against all of humanity, and is the worst kind of terrorism.
It was rare that almost all known human rights organizations were gathered at this event. Practitioners took the opportunity to give each attendee a copy of Compassion magazine and a video. When people knew the materials were about Falun Gong, they all accepted them without hesitation. Everyone knows about Falun Gong. When a practitioner introduced Falun Gong to someone, she immediately invited practitioners to attend their activities scheduled for the following week. The host of a TV station was very interested in the abuse of Falun Gong practitioners in mental hospitals. He invited practitioners to his show to discuss this issue.
Recently, we received many phone calls from people who want to learn Falun Gong exercises. Yes, Falun Dafa has established mighty virtue, and sentient beings are awakening.

Exposure of Persecution Facts
A mother and her son from Chongqing, Sichuan Province went in person to an exhibition center that held an exhibition slandering Dafa. They clarified the truth to the people present. People surrounded them and quietly listened. Some said, "Our workplace is forcing us to come, and we would have been penalized if we had not come." Others said, "By first glance we know these are false." Later on, the mother and her son were arrested and put into the local police station. However, they walked out unseen in an open and above-board way under the eyes of many evil police officers.
Summary of the News from Mainland China
Today, one hundred and thirty four people solemnly declared that everything they said, did and wrote unfavorable to Dafa under pressure, forceful brainwashing, or not knowing by themselves were invalid. They will follow Teacher to the end, steadfastly cultivating Dafa and redoubling their efforts to make up for the damage they have brought to Dafa.
The oppressive forces of Jiang Zemin's government has sealed people's lips but are unable to change their hearts. A female practitioner was perseverant and never stopped validating Dafa, exposing the evil and clarifying the truth during the past two years. She was arrested, beaten, detained and sent to the forced labor camp and finally had no other choice but to leave home and roam about to avoid illegal arrest; her mother, who is nearly 70 years old, was detained three times and her daughter was harassed in school.
I completely refuse all persecution and ask for my daughter back. On October 4, 1999, my daughter was illegally taken away. She firmly refused to cooperate with the evil and was sentenced to one year forced labor; she didn't give in and her sentence was illegally lengthened by 11 months. After she was released on September 18 this year, she distributed truth-clarifying materials against tremendous pressure and was held under house arrest by her work unit after being taken into custody.
Mourning for fellow practitioner Li Jing. Li Jing was a female practitioner only 22 years old. She was a pure and kind-hearted junior student in Changchun City Business College. During the holiday period of Oct 1, 2000 (The National Day), Li Jing went again to Beijing to validate Dafa. During her detention afterward, her compassion moved a police guard into tears. On Oct 11, 2001, Li Jing died because of the persecution.
Cultivation Stories
Through cultivation, a female Dafa practitioner from Taiwan regained good health and looked much younger than before. Her husband, after smoking and drinking for 30 years, successfully quit these bad habits after practicing Falun Gong. The husband's younger sister had two medical operations before her cultivation and had to see doctors every week. Since she started to cultivate Dafa over 6 months ago, she became healthy again and has not taken any medicine. The practitioner's two sisters, one brother-in-law, and mother-in-law all started to cultivate recently.
Overseas News Summary
The Central News Agency Reported on December 7 that the international media watchdog Reporters Sans Frontieres (RSF) issued a statement on December 4 asking the [Jiang Zemin] government in China to stop intimidating foreign journalists attempting to report on the Falun Gong spiritual movement. RSF Secretary-General Robert Menard indicated that they would ask the United Nation to denounce the Chinese authorities' treatment of foreign journalists.
Falun Gong Practitioners urged Amnesty International in Japan to help rescue Japanese practitioner Hu Guoping, a visiting scholar in a Japanese University. He had gone to Beijing to voice his opinion in favor of Falun Gong in December 1999, and was arrested when taking pictures in Tiananmen Square. He was sentenced to three years in prison by the Xicheng District Court. Nobody knows if he is still alive.

About 100 Falun Gong practitioners have performed meditation to mark Human Rights Day. They displayed banners calling on President Jiang Zemin to stop terrorizing their [fellow practitioners] on the mainland. Their spokesperson, Sophie Xiao, said persecution against the movement had worsened and that the group had sent a petition to legislators and the SAR [special administrative region] government.
[Xiao] We expressed, of course, given the worsening situation over the past two years and four months, how and to what extent China has imposed persecution of ordinary people and we would like to draw the international concern - or anybody who is kind-hearted - to call for support and to call to stop this persecution in China.
(Clearwisdom.net) A peaceful protest at Beijing's infamous Tiananmen Square last week went horribly wrong for former Westmead resident Kay Belonogoff.
The 22-year-old said she and 34 others of 12 different nationalities were left battered and bruised by police last Tuesday during their ... mission to the Chinese capital to protest against the persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners.
Ms Belonogoff was holding a banner emblazoned with Falun Dafa principles "truthfulness, compassion and forbearance" when the group was surrounded by more than a hundred policeman.
She said protesters were "kicked, punched and dragged by the hair" into waiting vans and transported to a nearby compound for police interrogation.
Ms Belonogoff knew the exercise would be fraught with danger following claims of up to 300 Falun Dafa practitioners executed and many followers subjected to torture and labour camps. She said it was a matter of standing by her principles.
"It was a peaceful protest and I just couldn't believe the response it caused," she told the Sun.
"When we spoke with some of the police they didn't even know what Falun Dafa was."
Ms Belonogoff, who recently moved to Sandy Point but still works for a software company at Girraween, said the dramatic ordeal continued at the police compound with the group herded into a tiny cell and interrogated one by one.
"We were pushed around by the guards and denied access to our ambassadors," she said.
"They asked all sorts of questions about how we managed to get into China and who was responsible, trying to link it all to a certain source."
The protesters were eventually expelled from China for five years. [...]
Ms Belonogoff said her parents only became aware of her ordeal after she had left the country. She hopes that Falun Dafa will one day be recognised in China.
"At the moment I think the Chinese government is afraid of the popularity of Falun Dafa and because it controls the media, can manipulate public perception," she said.

Kate Douglass, 21, was among 35 Western followers of the banned movement who were set upon by scores of Chinese police in Beijing's Tiananmen Square on November 20.

Thousands of Falun Gong practitioners are reported to have been killed, tortured or jailed.
Ms Douglass, a former Gold Coast photographer who practiced Falun Gong at Broadbeach before moving to Melbourne a few months ago, joined other foreign followers in Tiananmen Square last month.
They had just unfurled a ['Truthfulness Compassion Forbearance'] banner and started meditating during what Ms Douglass described as a 'peaceful demonstration' when they were surrounded by police.
"We were only there for about 30 seconds before we heard the screeching of police vans," said Ms Douglass.
"They were very, very aggressive and dragged us violently into the vans."
"One Australian had blood coming from his nose and knuckles from being dragged along the ground, and a Canadian practitioner was held down and pummeled in the van."
"Some practitioners suffered broken bones and there was a lot of bad bruising."
Ms Douglass said she and her fellow Falun Gong devotees were locked in a small cell at the police station before being interrogated.
"There were three or four policemen to one practitioner. They were screaming and yelling and being very obnoxious towards us."
"Their attitude was that they were above the law and could do whatever they liked to us."
"Some practitioners were severely beaten and a couple of other women were sexually assaulted." "It was frightening." Ms Douglass said she was slapped on the arms and legs and screamed at when she refused to sign documents written in Chinese.
"It was intimidating but we also knew that, as a large group of foreigners, we had some kind of protection."
After 23 hours in the police lock-up, the Falun Gong followers were released and deported.
Ms Douglass said the experience, while frightening, had made her more determined than ever to practice and promote Falun Gong and expose the oppression of its followers in China.
She and Falun Gong's Gold Coast-based Queensland spokesman, John Andreass, are lobbying Australian politicians to put pressure on China to stop persecuting [Falun Gong].
