(Minghui.org) A 70-year-old woman in Dongying City, Shandong Province was arrested on the street on April 24, 2024 for her faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Zhang Xiuqun was buying groceries when two plainclothes officers suddenly appeared in front of her. They forced her down and held her to the ground. While stepping on her, the police snatched her purse and threatened to turn in her cellphone. Four plainclothes officers then joined the pair and took Ms. Zhang to the police station. It’s not clear whether Ms. Zhang is still being detained at the time of this writing.
Ms. Zhang was a retired employee of the Shengli Oilfield. Her husband passed away many years ago due to a disease, and she raised their two children by herself. Due to years of hard work, she developed many ailments. After taking up Falun Gong in April 1996, she learned to appreciate the adversity and was willing to live by the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance to grow her character. But because of her faith, she is now targeted by the communist regime.
